Ummer d’r Neaver viert dit jaar haar 4 x 11 jarig bestaan. Dit jubileum wordt door de Kerkraadse cultband samen met hun muziekvrienden in stijl gevierd met een afscheidsconcert, in het weekend van 4 tot en met 6 oktober 2024, met een paviljoen op de Markt in Kerkrade. Wethouder Jo Schlangen (Cultuur) geeft aan dat het evenement aanhaakt op de succesformule van de Kerkraadse band. “De opzet van het event draagt bij aan de instandhouding van het culturele carnavalserfgoed, straalt Beleef Kerkrade uit en kan daarmee op steun vanuit de gemeente rekenen”, aldus Schlangen. 4 x 11 joar Ummer d’r Neaver Ummer d’r Neaver bestaat dit jaar 44 jaar en wil dit jubileum met een evenement vieren in hun geboorteplaats Kerkrade. De band is in Kerkrade opgericht en bekend geworden met tal van carnavalsnummers. Inmiddels is Ummer d’r Neaver uitgegroeid tot een regionaal bekende band en terugkerend deelnemer aan het LVK. Weekend van 4 en 5 oktober 2024 Op vrijdagavond 4 en zaterdagavond 5 oktober 2024 staat Ummer d’r Neaver voor de állerlaatste keer in originele bezetting op het podium. Alle hits van de afgelopen jaren komen live voorbij. Naast Ummer d’r Neaver treden ook hun muzikale vrienden op zoals onder meer Frans Theunisz, Big Benny, Guido Frissen (voormalig lid Schintaler en Ummer d’r Neaver) en de feestband Tonca. “Tante Annie zal ook aanwezig zijn om zakdoekjes uit te delen om de tranen op te vangen. Het belooft een verrassende, onvergetelijke maar vooral verdrietige avond te worden”, aldus Meijs. Promskonzeët Op zondag 6 oktober 2024 wordt een Promskonzeët in samenwerking met Harmonie Sint Philomena georganiseerd. Joost Meijs en Marc Hermans gaan samen met de ouderen, eenzamen en hulpbehoevenden aan de slag met een passende programmering. “Met deze opzet wordt ingespeeld op de sociaal-maatschappelijke behoefte aan vertier voor deze doelgroepen”, aldus wethouder Jo Paas (Ouderenbeleid). Het definitieve programma voor de zondag wordt volgend kwartaal gepresenteerd. Organisatie HM Event Company tekent voor de organisatie van 4 x 11 joar Ummer d’r Neaver, nog ing kieër! Daarna zal definitief het doek vallen voor de band die decennia lang Limburg onveilig heeft gemaakt. And the final piece for the #windowsintothepast exhibition. It had to be done really... Words That Say - Mega City Four 100x70cm Oil on canvas What can I say? Mega City Four were one of Rushmoor's most successful bands. Touring the world relentlessly MC4 became a cult band that still have a huge (and wonderful) following of fans to this day. Fans that support the grassroots music charity I founded @f4wiz I remember walking through Aldershot with Wiz after band practice one afternoon shortly before he passed away. We walked down through Union Street to Sebastopol Road where the band recorded the album of the same name. The studio, long gone, had been replaced by flats, dandelions growing from gaps in the pavement reminiscent of the album cover I had earlier designed for Ipanema (Wiz's later band). Wiz spoke fondly of those times, telling me stories as we walked home together. Just a few weeks later I was left alone with those memories. Words That Say is arguably one of Mega City Four's best songs, at least one of my favourites. Later Gerry from the band and myself worked with 3 Loop Music to get Sebastopol Road reissued. Como ando rememorando la historia del under norteamericano, cabe volver a álbums como este de #Fugazi banda que se destacó por imponer su premisa de "do it yourself", su clara visión política anti mainstream y por promover un estilo de vida saludable libre de drogas, además de su música que en su momento fue inclasificable. Este Repeater, primer LP oficial del grupo está catalogado como uno de los albums imprescindibles en la historia de la música y sumamente influyente. Esta versión trae 3 extra tracks, y destaco el tema "Suggestion" un corte declaradamente feminista, narrado desde el punto de vista de una mujer que ha sido violentada (muy acorde con la coyuntura actual). John Cooper Lawton (11 July 1946 - 29 June 2021) was a #rock and #blues #vocalist best known for his work with Lucifer's Friend, Uriah Heep and the Les Humphries Singers.

Lawton began his musical career in North Shields, UK, in the early '60s with The Deans, a bunch of kids who decided at random that he should be singer. He then moved on to West One and later Stonewall which included John Miles, Vic Malcolm (later of Geordie) and Paul Thompson (later of Roxy Music).

After Stonewall finished their stint at Top Ten Club in Hamburg in 1969, Lawton decided to stay in Germany, after having been offered the job as singer with legendary German rock cultband Lucifer's Friend (1969–1976 and 1979–1995) with whom he recorded seven studio albums. He also joined the Les Humphries Singers, in the early '70s (which included the Eurovision Song Contest in '76).

In 1976 Lawton joined Uriah Heep as their frontman, recording the albums Firefly, Innocent Victim, Fallen Angel[1] and Live in Europe '79, touring Europe and the U.S. until September 1979.

Lawton died unexpectedly in 29 June 2021, at the age of 74.[2]

Met Melike Şahin presenteert Turkey Now! Festival één van de meest veelbelovende en meest besproken Turkse artiesten van dit moment. De veelzijdige Şahin is sinds het verschijnen van haar debuutalbum “Merhem” een van de grootste artiesten van Turkije.

Voorheen toerde ze de wereld over met de psychedelische cultband BaBa ZuLa. Sinds 2017 is ze solo en genereert met haar combinatie van pop, psychedelische elektronische muziek en een zweem van disco miljoenen streams met hits als 'Deli Kan', 'Sevmek Suçsa Suçluyum' en 'Tutuşmuş Beraber'.

Ze zong in de soundtrack voor de film Djam van de Algerijns/Franse regisseur Tony Gatlif, die ook de regie voor de clip van 'Sevmek Suçsa Suçluyum' verzorgde. Gatlif was de regisseur van de videoclip voor dit nummer. Ze maakte ook naam in de wereldmuziekscène, mede door haar werk met de Israëlische alternatieve world fusion producer Kutiman en met de Israëlische Oriental rockband Boom Pam.

Op haar eerste solo album werkte ze samen met Mabel Matiz, Sabi Saltiel, Uri Brauner Kinrot van Boom Pam, Can Güngör, Emre Maliks, Elif Dikeç en Dijf Sanders. De ten dele retro-stijl klinkt door in de keyboards, de electro-baglama en de Oriëntaalse violen. Zelf omschrijft ze haar stijl als "mediterrane Arabesk", die zowel vernieuwend is als sporen draagt van de zangers die haar inspireerden zoals Safiye Ayla, Müzeyyen Senar, Selda Bağcan, Ümmü Gülsüm en de Libanese dia Fairouz.
