High stakes. Fake datinf. Real swords. This is all I want in a sport YA book. “Fence” is a comic series by C.S. Pacat and "Fence. Striking distance” it’s an original novel written by Sarah Rees Brenan (I call it an official fanfic jaja). When I finished de firs four comic I need more about de main characters, so I read this book (and the second).

What it’s about? At the end of fouth volume of “Fence” the boys —Nick, Seiji, Harvard and Aiden— have joined the team, but they’re so different. Coach Williams assigns them a course of team building exercises to further deepen their bonds. This is the beginning of a fun, entertaining and warm story about teammate and friendship.

This book is supported by the comics. So the story, part of the descriptions and relationship are based on the comics. You need the previously reading of the comics. The book has a simple and quickly stile. It’s amausing. Sarah Rees Brenan know the world building, the characters and she created a comfort novel.

I love this book. Probably it isn't perfect —I know—, but it’s a nice novel about “Fence”, about the main characters. It has romance, bromace, good jockes, sport and little bit of competitive spit. If you like the original comic, and need more about Nick, Seiji and the other guys, this is your book.

Mon avis : J'avoue avoir eu de l'apréhension à m'attaquer à cette saga fantasy MxM par bien des aspect, mais au contraire, j'ai été très agréablement surprise ! L'histoire proposée met en place des enjeux sérieux, des personnages profonds pour lesquels on a tout de suite un grand attachement; la romance ennemies to lovers est très bien amenée, avec des moments de tension intenses qui maintiennent en haleine, autant que les intrigues politiques de fond. Et les personnages ! Laurent et Damen sont de parfaits opposés : ils se haïssent, ainsi que tout ce qu'ils représentent, puis, par la force des choses, apprennent à se connaitre, s'entraident, s'apprivoisent et s'attirent. C'était beau, charnel, passionné, intellectuel… bref, génial ! Attention cependant : la plume est belle mais parfois crue et certaines scènes sont très spicy. Pour public averti, donc !

En conclusion : "Prince Captif" a été une claque, autant par son côté fantasy épique et ses jeux de pouvoir passionnants que par sa romance magistrale. Si vous voulez tester une romance MXM de grande qualité, foncez sans hésiter !

Hey people I really need help finding this fic from AO3 that istg I've searched for with my life. It's from the Captive Prince fandom book thing by CSPacat but like for the fic idk the title or the author. It was about Laurent getting hurt during an assassination attempt I think or he gets very hurt and it's all about him recovering. The ending scene is he is all better and gets on his horse without Damen knowing, he chases after him and is like your hurt don't do that and Laurent is like no dumbass I'm fine look and Damen is like fine your ok I'm overreacting bc love And gay. During the fic Laurent is in so much pain Damen and jord hold him down so pascal or whatever his name was, the physician can do his thing. At some point Laurent forgets Damen out of like pain and they fight bc ofc Laurent has a knife. Its so angsty and good that I'm like I need it but like idk where it went like bro come back.
