We were severely robbed of a party-wide tickle fight with the mighty nein, I know those dorks wrecked each other all the time, they told me

But I’m including everyone in this, because no one should be left out of the fun!

Lee Jester is such an underrated headcanon tbh, lots of people see her as a ler cause she's mischievous and chaotic but I can only think of her as the kind of lee who provokes/annoys people on purpose just to get Absolutely Wrecked

The Mighty Nein: Tickle Headcanons

no one asked for this but I liked making the TAZ headcanons so much I did it anyway. 

the mighty nein from most ticklish to least ticklish

Caleb

A ticklish baby, he thought he grew out of it in the years since his academy days, but alas. He is ticklish everywhere, it cannot be helped. His worst worst spot (not a hot take at all) is the tops of his ribs, he cannot handle it. He’s definitely the number one victim of tickle attacks out of the nein, they all love getting their wizard to laugh. Caleb is a bit new to tickling, it's been a good long while since he’d known positive touch, but he warms up to it quickly. 

He cannot ler to save his life, lord knows he’s tried, he’s just so bad at it. It’s very very rare he gets the actual confidence to do a good job and it crumbles the minute revenge is even thought of

Essek 

Second most ticklish of the nein, and who’s surprised? It has to be a wizard thing. His worst spot is probably his hips or his legs, though his feet are definitely bad. He thinks tickling is so undignified, he says he’d rather fight a dragon solo, but the nein can see right through his lies. He not so secretly loves it. 

His ears twitch if you tickle anywhere near them and it’s adorable.

He is a better ler than Caleb but only marginally. Mostly because he’s so damn easy to overpower, just flops right over and takes it.

Fjord

He says he’s not ticklish but he’s also really bad at keeping the fact that he’s stupid ticklish a secret. His stomach and sides are 100% a weak spot, and is actually one of his favorites too. He didn’t really even know he was ticklish until he met Jester and the nein. 

This man can Tease, his ticking skills need some work, but he more than makes up for it with the teasing, it’s inescapable and no one is immune, NO ONE. 

Molly

Ticklish and loves it, he is a little slut for tickles and we love him for it. His back, tail and hips are definitely the worst. He says his hips are, but it’s only because he can’t handle his back and tail being tickled, he just becomes a pile of purple goo. 

The biggest ler next to jester, his tail is a weapon and he knows it. It's surprisingly effective as a tickle tool, just pointed enough, but not sharp, it feels similar to a pen or a chopstick. Even without his tail, he is killer, he knows everyone’s spots by heart and he could rival Fjord at teasing, and when he teams up with Jester, with the traveler as their witness no one goes untickled.

Jester

In comparison to some of her teammates she’s not all that ticklish, pretty much right in the middle. Her thighs and her stomach are the worst spots, though her tail is also pretty ticklish. She is very very comfortable with tickling, she has absolutely no shame, I am HERE for the “all tieflings are knismos” agenda, and Jester was raised by her mumma, who is equally shameless about tickling. She simply cannot be flustered by it, the only one to have succeeded in getting her flustered is Fjord. 

The undefeated tickle queen of the nein. Any tickle fight she wants to win, she will win. She loves tickling others as much as she loves being tickled, and frankly Adores how squirmy non-tieflings are on the topic. She could just talk about it for hours, but everyone but Molly always gets so red, she thinks it's funny. 

Beau

She will eat you alive, don't touch her. She's only ticklish in a few spots, her sides being the number one spot. But for the first little while she did not let the nein even close to tickling her. But once Jester gave her some puppy dog eyes she couldn't say no anymore. Don't let that fool you she absolutely loves it, she just isn't used to it, and was way too attached to looking tough. 

A wicked ler, she will absolutely use her monk shit, and paralyze her lee. She's really rough, and it can be unpleasant, but fjord, caduceus and yasha have been working to get her to be a little softer. 

Caduceus 

Mr zen cow man I loooovve you. He's not very ticklish, but his ears and neck can really get him giggling. His hands are surprisingly sensitive too. He’s used to his siblings knowing exactly how to get him to scream, so he’s not exactly threatened by the nein, he just lets them go for it, hes ticklish enough to satiate their curiosity without finding any of his bad spots, but he can also just pick up the ler and turn the tables just that easy. 

He's a really soft ler, and specializes in sleepy cuddly tickles. Plus he is so big and fluffy that he can just give his lee butterflies with, like, no effort. Up until when caduceus tried tickling him, no one knew essek could purr. 

Yasha 

She's not very ticklish, but if she's tired and off her guard, her stomach can get her giggling a little. It makes her a little sad she isn't as ticklish as some of the others, but she's more than willing to make up for that by being the ler. 

Another soft ler, she doesnt know her own strength, so she's extra careful with tickling. It's almost unbearable how soft she is, unlike caduceus, her soft tickling is the kind that lights every nerve up with lighting, and goodness she teases, though she isn't particularly smooth it’s all so endearing mixed with the unbearably soft tickling, she is one of the best lers in the nein, up there with Molly and Jester. 

Veth

Veth is not ticklish at all, and she lords this over the rest of the nein by being the biggest shit. She's little and hard to catch and she uses this to her advantage, anyone with a tickle spot from hips down is in danger of random attacks, and spots higher than that are susceptible to mage hand attacks. And the best(worst) part is that no one can get her back, since she is not ticklish in the slightest. (unless you are Yeza, in which case he knows her one secret spot and has been sworn to secrecy on it)

fjord's cheeks are really ticklish, when he talks about how he shaves his tusks because he got bullied, when he used to grow them out, they used to reach all the way up to his cheeks and the contact made them sensitive. jester and molly will pinch his cheeks occasionally and he'll just start laughing. he'll insist his cheeks are red because they keep pinching them but REALLY he's embarrassed about how ticklish he is

bestie idk how to tell you this but this is the greatest thing i’ve ever heard in my life

ticklish faces are underrepresented tbh (i wanna feel seen) and fjord having unusual ticklish spots is just. everything to me???

jester gives him little pecks on the cheek when they first start dating and doesn’t understand why he keeps tensing up, but she figures it out when she takes him by the sides of his head and just smatters his cheeks with kisses and he bursts into giggles

nott teases him with her Feather Fall feather whenever she gets a chance, because she can make fun of the way his nose scrunches up

he grows out his facial hair to provide a little more protection - it works well enough for his tusks, to have a little mustache barrier, but his friends are not so easily fooled

Additional Critickle Role Headcannons

Realized that I had some headcannons in the comments of my Ao3 fics that I wanted to keep track of for future purposes, so I'm putting them here:

Love and Somatics:

I like to think that Essek's original hesitation in initiating things probably had something to do with the big sign over Caleb's head that says "Emotionally Fragile, Handle With Care" and that in that split second where he decided to kiss Caleb he also decided how he was going to deal with that.

In most worlds, most elves have some interaction with humans, but Matt's made it pretty clear that generally, Roshona is a no-humans zone. Treasons aside, Essek hasn't really gotten close enough to a human to notice things like how quick facial hair grows, and honestly? I can remember being a pre-teen and going "Woah, it grows HOW FAST?" and it amused the pants off of me to imagine Essek having the same reaction.

I think Caleb and Essek are probably equals for strength, but Essek is definitely smaller. I imagine it was fun for him to take the ler role a little considering what he goes through with the Nein. And if you're going to emulate a Ler, he's going to emulate Jester. Duh.

Evil ler Essek has been on my MIND because of that smooth voice and that "young man" in the recent episode, the confidence and control from that whole conversation. Also, you know Caleb wants approval from older men. We all know how that trauma go.

Caleb's a little proud of his ability to give up control and take a bit of punishment from a lover. It dulls some of his most self-punishing tendencies.

I'm fully on board with the idea that Caleb is more ticklish the more he's thinking about it. I wanted the threats to keep him there. BUT ALSO PRAISE KINK TELL HIM HE'S A GOOD BOY.

Wizards in Dnd are well known to be competitive with each other, so I thought the idea of making it into a magic competition would fit well for these two. It's also one of the relatively few things that Caleb gets really, immovably stubborn about.

Finding Peace

I feel like a big theme of Yasha's character arch is her not knowing her purpose anymore, and the stormlord giving it to her: protector. So I feel like in this behavior plays into that. She knows everyone has their roles, and this is just her doing hers: Look scary AF and keep people safe. The rest of that stuff? Those are pretty-boy problems.

I feel like Cad would have grabbed him if Jester didn't do so again. They have so many good reasons to think Trent wants to kill Caleb and will try to do so. Also, I don't think Yasha really understands pocket dimensions and is thinking "Our house is in the same building as them! They're practically IN OUR HOUSE." And she's got a sword called magician's judge sooo.

In the Ploy Nein verse, Beau has more of a "Beloved BFF I share lovers with" relationship with the men in their party. Molly's fluidity means he doesn't count and she'll fight anyone who says otherwise. She and Caleb are very good at teamwork.

That different relationship is what lets Beau's tickle attacks slip past Caleb's submissive side into a "You're not my dom! You don't get to tell me what to do!" Space of defiance with no self preservation.

Beau helps it along. Her bullying, taunting teasing is meant to make him provoke more tickles. Caleb falls more it more or less every time.

The fun of Caleb now being a pretty impressive wizard is that the brawny ones can still take him down a peg because they know he wouldn't hurt them. Most wiz spells would be like bringing a bazooka to a wresting match or next to impossible to cast when being tickled into a wee little ball. Muscle girls do not have that problem.

Beau's Dope Monk shit making him more ticklish gave Caleb an "oh no what did i get myself into" moment and then probably an "oh god what if the tieflings find out she can do this" one later.

After hearing Yasha tease Caleb when he was a spider, I think that might be Yasha's signature ler move. Just declare that she's hungry for "[class or race] body part" and chase some poor ticklish person around going "I'm going to get you! I'm gonna eat you! Yes I am!" While they plead for mercy.

I have such critical role brainrot you guys let me share some thoughts in the form of headcanons/prompts that I might write in the future but feel free to beat me to the punch if I don’t get around to it

So I really like Kingsley, and I’m dying to see more of him. I’m really curious about him with Fjord & Jester on the ship. Because personally I think that he’d kinda cling to them since they were there when he first woke up & he has some vague memories popping up in his head a lot more lately. & he likes the rest of the crew just fine, but he feels some connection there that he doesn’t have with anyone else on the ship. Which means he’s probably pretty clingy with them, especially since he really wants to buddy up to Fjord so he can be captain of his own ship someday. He wants to be helpful to the point of being a bit nosey & interrupting the two of them every time they’re trying to have a nice moment. Fjord’s been pretty damn tolerable all things considering & he kinda snaps at him & says some not nice things to him. & of course Kingsley’s all sad & goes off & Fjord feels shitty so he & Jester go find him. When they find him he’s understandably grumpy & sad about it & Fjord apologizes. & Kingsley is still pulling the silent treatment & Jester keeps saying goofy things in funny voices to get him to crack & he’s getting huffier cause he’s supposed to be mad damnit quit making him smile. & Fjord’s like “stop pretending to still be sad, I don’t like seeing you frown so much. You know, I remember something you might find interesting about Mollymauk.” & of course he’s skeptical of them, they have to be up to something but he still asks anyways. & Jester pipes in like “oh I remember too!” & then she looks at him with so much excitement & just a hint of sympathy & says “you’re like, crazy ticklish dude” & what the hell is he supposed to say to that? Anyway you know how it goes, just super cute & funny chemistry with these lovely dorks. I’d just like to thank the mighty nein for giving us this golden trio of absolute goofballs

This next one is inspired by what Caleb said about how similar Fjord & Eodwulf are based on that one interaction after the fight at the end. Where Wulf was just like “Hey.” & Fjord looks at him & they’re just staring intensely at each other for like a solid 10 seconds before he’s like “keep up the good work” & Fjord’s like “thanks. Asyouwere” & turns away all prissy. Like please give me the two himbos in a room together for Caleb’s sake, but uh oh he has to leave the room for a bit. & it’s just a really awkward uncomfortable silence because they don’t know where the fuck to even start & neither of them are eager to really get along just yet. Tensions & judgement of both sides, you know how it is when the new bestie meets the ex bestie who’s trying to be a bestie again. Their only common ground is Caleb really, & Eodwulf is literally dying to cut through the awkward silence & make a good impression on his new friends to he tries to keep the conversation light. What pranks has Caleb pulled on them? Sharing stories from their childhood & about how Bren could be such a rotten brat. Fun stuff like that & he asks him “so is Caleb Widogast just as ticklish as Bren was?” all teasing & fond & Fjord can’t help but laugh & is like oh yeah totally. Hard to keep a secret like that from someone as affectionate as Jester. & Eodwulf starts telling all these funny & embarrassing stories about Caleb just as he walks back in. Poor things is immediately flustered & is like “shut up, not another word! & you, did you tell him anything?” making sure fjord didn’t join in on Embarrass Caleb Story Time. Of course this gets Wulf’s attention & he simply must hear more! He tries to make them shut up but they both team up in the worst tag team ever. Caleb only survives because he blurts out both Fjord & Eodwulf’s worst spots. Cue the 2 of them letting him go & just staring at each other skeptically before they both pounce

I am not immune to the traveler’s charm & I simply must see him get his ticklish ass handed to him. He causes so much trouble & loves to poke people’s buttons, & Jester seems rather fond of this little group so that must mean they’re free range when it comes to pranking! But truly, he is just Some Guy he really ain’t as high & mighty as he likes to think. Beau & Fjord seem to be the ones most skeptical of him & generally are just so done with his shit & they TOTALLY team up to take him down. I think that they’re an underrated ler duo & poor Artagan can’t get away without possibly hurting them so he has no choice but to take it. But if we’re being completely honest he is eating up the attention

Ok but I’m dying for Caleb to get together with Astrid & Eodwulf & they’re trying to fall back into how things were but so much has changed it feels like meeting them for the second time. Even some simple things like Astrid’s favorite color has changed, Caleb’s favorite food, or something bigger like the fact Eodwulf doesn’t read for fun anymore & strictly sticks to educational books & tomes. But some things are still the same & they love reminiscing on good times & teasing each other. & well, hasn’t Caleb always been the one they ganged up on?

I have some other vague ideas but these are good for now. If anyone feels inspired to write one of these please feel free!

I could never ignore you, I just take forever to answer lol. But I LOVE THEM SO MUCH! When will Dorian come back, I need my kind soft boi🥺

I shall give you both!

I think they’re literally perfect for each other & I presume it’s gonna be a long ass slow burn before anything happens. I’m behind on critical role cause I’ve been at my parents, but I’m on the third episode of calamity & then once I catch up on campaign 3 I’m gonna finish exandria unlimited cause I really wanna know more about them. & the chemistry they have is so good! Now, let’s crack into it

-I like to think Dorian is the most ticklish out of the 2 (probably out of the whole party let’s be real)

-Orym is the perfect height to casually squeeze Dorian’s hip or scribble behind his knees when they’re just standing side by side. He always spasms when he does this & a surprised shriek escapes

-Orym is surprisingly teasy when it comes to his friends, especially when he has a crush on one of them! He points out how much he’s blushing, how cute & funny his laugh sounds, how ticklish he is, anything is fair game

-he always gets this absolutely smitten look whenever he’s tickling Dorian. The most dazzling heart eyes you’ve ever seen!

-Dorian is very physically affectionate & will give Orym quick squeezes, pokes, or scribbles in passing whenever he’s in a good mood & wants to share it!

-he’s pretty shy & has to psych himself up before trying to attack Orym. He can always tell when he’s going to attack but let’s it happen & acts like it caught him off guard

-Orym makes sure to check in on how he’s doing when tickling him & tends to use softer touches

-Dorian doesn’t care, Orym is cheeky & mean in his own way & he looks way too cute when he’s laughing & squirming around for him to show mercy

-they have tickle fights all the time! Orym usually starts them because he has a lot of pent up energy & it’s as close to sparring as he’ll get with Dorian. Or he’s dying to see him all breathless & flustered. Dorian starts them whenever he’s feeling mischievous or when he gets homesick

-Dorian’s worst spots are probably his neck/ears, ribs, sides, & knees. Orym’s are his underarms, feet, & tummy

-I know a real, canon first kiss will probably happen at some point, but until that day they have their first kiss when Dorian is tickling him to get him to stop. They both freeze & are both blushing like mad. They’re each profusely apologizing while confessing their feelings

-when the others wreck Dorian, Orym always assesses the situation to see if he should help him, or help wreck him.

-if Dorian sees Orym getting wrecked by the others he doesn’t even hesitate to join in on the fun! He gets all giddy & wants to play around with his friends

-the roles are split pretty even between the 2 & on any given day either one of them could be the lee

-Orym uses tactics & the element of surprise when he goes after him. He has small nimble fingers & fast reflexes & can switch spots really quick & fit in the places you try to protect (armpits when you slam your arms down, neck when you scrunch up, behind the knee when your legs are bent, etc.)

-Dorian normally sticks to one spot at a time before moving on to the next. He’s got these long slender fingers that are so skilled & dexterous from playing the lute, & they’re just a little bit calloused. He takes his time in taking you apart. (I just know Dorian has such pretty hands, ok? I think it’s important you know he has really nice, soft hands. He could be a hand model)

-Dorian can’t say the t-word, he’s just too flustered. It makes him really embarrassed & stutters over himself & he blushes whenever someone else says it

1. Who’s more ticklish?

As much as I wanna say it’s Ashton cause I love big tough characters being reduced to giggles, I have to say it’s Fearne. She’s so soft spoken & sweet & bubbly, that girl is SO ticklish

2. What kind of tickles are they sensitive to?

Fearne is susceptible to both, but I think rough tickles work better on her. Both hard & soft tickles also work well on Ashton. Believe it or not, but they actually prefer a firmer touch & more thorough wrecking, but if you want to slowly drive them to the brink of insanity, gentle tickles are the way to go. They’ll be begging for you to wreck them “for real” within minutes

3. Which role (lee/ler) does each of them hold?

Fearne is a true switch at heart & Ashton’s more of a ler. But they are not immune to lee moods

4. How did they discover each others’ ticklishness?

Fearne was trying to shamelessly steal something from their pocket & they jerked away with a snort. Her eyes lit up & Ashton started backing away saying a few weak threats. She was going for their thighs & that’s one of their hot spots so there was no way they could convince her they weren’t ticklish, no matter how many times they said it through hysterical laughter. Ashton found out Fearne was ticklish as soon as they regained their breath & pounced on her for revenge. Fearne was honestly thrilled for the retaliation & would goad them by saying they “weren’t doing it right” or outright saying which spots were more ticklish

5. Who’s more likely to instigate a tickle fight?

Ashton looooves to start tickle fights. They love fights & roughhousing with friends in general, but they never really had a lot of tickle fights, so they like to pounce on & bully their friends. They also just like to be able to laugh & feel something that’s not pain when in a competitive context, it just feels good & different. Fearne will start a tickle fight whenever she’s feeling super mischievous & playful, but her motives lay more along the lines of “I’m gonna wreck ‘em so they wreck me”

6. How often do they tickle each other?

They tickle each other like every other day. She claims they’re being “too grumpy” or she just admits there’s no reason & she just jumped them out of the blue. Ashton’s more upfront about it cause she’d either provoke them by taking something or he announces “I’m bored. You’re so in for it,” & starts chasing her down

7. Who’s the least likely to ask for tickles?

Ashton would rather die than ever outright ask for tickles. They’re obsessed with their rough & tough persona & don’t want to show any signs of weakness or even hint at the fact they might like something as cutesy & childish as this. Fearne on the other hand is not at all shy about broadcasting her love for tickles

I just finished campaign 2 ep 140 & I am not okay, I am screaming internally someone PLEASE talk to me about critical role. I’m not ready to say goodbye to them & I have so many fluffy headcanons & ideas that I’m dying to share

Going back to Critickle Role, have you got any lee headcanons for Bell's Hells?

I haven’t watched enough of campaign 3 for me to feel like I have a good read on all of them??? But I can imagine fearne as a giggly fun lee who likes to start tickle fights and mischief, and I love fics where orym is like, trying to hold out and be tough strong man and can’t stop himself from curling up and giggling and laughing. Dorian screams lee to me also.

I am in love with Caleb & even more in love with a shy, flustered & drunk Caleb so have A Thought.

So since we’ve all established that Caleb is a sad & touch starved self loathing wizard, it only makes sense for him to enjoy physical affection. & once he gets used to some hair ruffles, claps on the shoulder & hugs, he starts to grow fond of some of the more “annoying” affection the mighty nein throw his way like noogies, pulling his hair, & of course tickling but he could never bring himself to admit to that last one. Because who in their right mind would like to be made to laugh & lose their composure like that? Someone carefree & shameless like Molly, not someone so composed & a “stick in the mud” like he is. Because he only deserves guilt & shame right?

But the more his friends do it to him, the less he resists & makes a fuss. & he’s already weak to begin with so his struggles are always weak ‘cause he doesn’t actually wanna get away. So he’s not exactly being subtle about it. The rest of the nein have their sneaking suspicion he doesn’t hate it like he defensively claims.

They’re all drunk at some tavern & somehow get on the subject of tickling & Caleb very drunkenly & offhandedly says that he likes it. So obviously everyone’s grinning like an idiot at him & are like 👀 care to tell more? & he’s rarely drunk so he doesn’t have a filter & lets it pour out. Fjord’s like “we knew you liked it more than you tried to let on. Hope Ya don’t mind us askin’ why though” & Caleb just nods “ja, I just think it’s fun and a little silly. I know I don’t laugh or smile as much as I probably should, so it’s kind of nice to be forced to every once in a while. And I just like how tingly and weird it makes me feel”

As soon as he finishes rambling he catches up with himself & realizes what he just admitted to them. His eyes are wide & his whole face is beat red. He’s stiff as a board & goes “I can’t believe I just said that out loud. I am going to go curl up in my room and promptly die, don’t bother me,” & then goes up to his room to do just that.

1 or 2 of them go after him cause they know they’d just make it worse if everyone went up there. But they try to assure an extremely flustered & huffy Caleb that it’s ok to enjoy it & literally none of them think any different & just bdkahsksld I can’t stop thinking about this
