cooper day x fem!reader

summary: you were hanging out with your best friend Cooper when he discovered your biggest secret you’ve been hiding from him.

warnings: mostly sfw (aside from triggering stuff), s/h scars, talks of medication, depression

(i cant write fluff for the life of me, so this might be a little shorter than usual)

You and Cooper had been best friends since the first grade. You knew everything about him, and he knew almost everything about you. Except your 2 day old self harm scars. this was the only time you’d done it, when a jock asked you out, just to make fun of you and leave you at a Whataburger at 1:30 in the morning.

Cooper was writing about his oncoming ‘liberation’ from his family. He sat at his desk, typing on his silver, sticker-covered laptop. He mumbled under his breath, his words incoherent as you laid on his bed, listening to Death Cab For Cutie on your ipod. Cooper groaned, slamming his laptop shut.

“Shit, Cooper!” You jumped, ripping out your earbuds. Cooper looks back at you sighing.

“Sorry,” He mumbled, laying down next to you. You smile at him, and he smiled back weakly. Cooper never worried, he was very laid back, very introverted. But the moment you reached over him to grab something, it’s like his whole world stopped.

Cooper grabbed your arm, pulling up your sleeve. Before you could protest, Cooper inspected your arm nervously, his eyes darting all around it.

“Did you-?” He asked softly, looking you in the eyes.

“Why do you care?” You sniffle, holding back tears as you try to take back control of your arm.

“Because i want to see how many times i wasn’t there when you needed me,” Cooper stated in his averagely monotone voice. but for some reason, it had a hint of emotion…guilt? sadness…? You try to shrug it off, but Cooper won’t let you. You thought he’d continue to push the subject further and further, but what he did was really unexpected for him.

He hugged you. Cooper hugged you.

He wrapped his arms around you, pulling you against his chest. He did seem a little bit uncomfortable since his breathing was a little shaky, but he still held you. He grabbed your arm gently, running his thumb over the scars.

“They’ll heal,” He said softly still studying them as he held you. You just looked up at the ceiling. You knew they’d heal, but…something about Cooper touching them made them hurt less.

Something about Cooper touching you made your world hurt less.

Boy in the Halls (Cooper Day x FEM!Reader)

Part One

Every day I walk down the same god forsaken halls of this school. I always see the same dude; His eyeliner always catches my attention since he's the only dude I see with it. I admire him and really love watching him in the halls. His hair beautiful and fluffy. I had a huge crush on him since the I seen him which was since elementary school. I admired him even more after finding out he fought his sister's boyfriend, since he got her pregnant. After his little two-day suspension, I had decided to talk to him. "Hey, I love your eyeliner." He looked at me his face still as if he was analyzing me. "I like yours too." I smiled at him. "What kind do you wear?" I thought for a moment before replying, "Liquid, pencil, and black eyeshadow." He gave "ah, I see" look making me smile at him again. His sister walked by giving him a kind of smirky look. Her friend Emma following behind giving him a flirtatious look. "Look at her." I felt my body heat in jealousy. "Yeah, she's gorgeous..." He looked at me. "Well, I gotta go to class..." I looked at him and smiled before walking to the bathroom. His sister coming beside me, "You're cute... but woman to woman, he likes Emma. I don't want you to get hurt." I felt my heart drop to my stomach. "Oh, I don't really like him much though, I don't even know him." She looked at me nodded before going away. I felt my throat burn and my chest hurt, I've liked him for more than half my life. I felt my eyes burn with tears. "You, okay?" I turned around and seen Cooper staring at me. "I thought you were going to class?" He smiled before looking down slightly. "It's PE, I'm skipping." I smiled at him. "Me too." "Math?" I shook my head. "Nope, Science." He nodded in acknowledgement. "Let's go outside." He offered making me follow behind him, he led me outside and sat beneath a tree. "So, why'd you talk to me?" He'd gained quite some popularity after his little winners' announcement. After little conversations of nothing it was time to go back to class. "Hey, Cooper... you think I could come over tonight?" He nodded at me before scribbling the address on my hand.

Once I was welcomed into the house by his mom and dad, I headed to the room they told me was his. I was walking and then I heard his sister call me, we talked for a bit and just laughed partially. She mentioned how stressful it was being "The Pregnant girl." Mid conversation she got up and I followed behind. She was actually taking me to Coopers room making me nervous. As she burst open the door starting a sentence before replacing it. "Hey Frea- WHAT THE HELL?!" I poked my head in and saw Emma practically eating his face off. "Cooper?" He pushed her off of him and I look at him tears brimming in my eyes again. This time I felt one trailing down my face. "(name) I- When did you get here?" I looked down, "Doesn't matter. I'm calling my mom and I'm leaving." He looked at me and started to say something, but I stopped him. "Natalie, may I borrow your phone?" I went to call my mom but instead of her telling me she was on her way she said I needed to stay there since she was in a meeting, and I have no way into the house. I watched as Emma walked by leaving. I felt my whole world cave in I just wanted to cry. "Hey, why'd you cry if you didn't like him (name)" I shot a glare at her. "I lied. I've liked him since Elementary School." Her heart broke for me. "Take it from me, men are assholes." I nodded as tears formed again. Little did I know, Cooper was listening from behind her door.
