Got tagged by @kiki-shortsnout and this seems fun, so let’s do it!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Great question! None! Mainly because I started using AO3 last year and I have natural anxiety towards the publish button.
(You may not understand, but that button… that button scares me.)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
I have a very prideful zero. My goal this year is to try publish at least a 1k word count fic? I think it’s a fair step towards conquering my fear with that publish button.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Various Minecraft YouTubers (MCYT). I’ve been in this fandom for years, wrote about lots of peeps, but my current obsession is GeminiTay o/ (and maybe a little bit of Ethoslab. I never watch the guy before and I’m finally discovering his charm whoops)
DanganRonpa. As in writing OCs in the killing game aspect. I barely written anything about the characters other than my top 5 favourites though.
Undertale and its AUs. Especially the AUs, I remember being so crazy about it. Still do, but a bit more tone down in these past years. I write them during my need of comfort days. I have this one incomplete story from the fandom that I intend to finish it one day.
Marvel. This is my current biggest obsession. Specifically FrostIronStrange, following up with the Avengers.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
I’m gonna answer this based on other websites that I’ve published since my AO3 page is empty. I don’t normally publish my fics cuz I’m a bit awkward in sharing, but amongst the ones I do share to public (they are mostly taken down at this point):
Méng Yǒu
Five Nights at Team Crafted
Three Peaks Castle
Colours
Dream. Glitch. World.
5. Do you respond to comments?
Most of my comments are from my friends so yes!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably that one Marvel series about an immortal child entity who travels through the multiverse determined to help solve the universal problems/threats in every universe/dimensions that they visits. It’s a series of never ending one shots because she never stops travelling. Obviously there are bound to have some very angsty endings where they fail to save the whole universe. Or she saved the universe, but she had to make hard decisions that affects them deeply.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Uhm… the world is saved from not being converted into a coded game? If you don’t consider fluff fics about typical daily life. Now that I think about it, there’s never a ‘true’ happy ending with my fics. I usually write the ‘to achieve the ultimate win, you lose something along the way’.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nope. My fics typically don’t get discovered by people. Let alone by haters.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
When I’m feeling horny. I write very questionable porn with plot fics. Don’t ask. I swore to never share them.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Yes! I love writing crossovers between two of my favourite fandoms! I think the craziest would be MCYT x FNAF. Cuz it’s my first ever crossover fic and it holds a special place in my heart.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope. I think people prefer stealing works that are both great and completed. Sadly I’m neither great nor have I ever publish a complete fic to the public.
12. Does not exist apparently
Like my works? I have a ton that I have completed but never share to anyone.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Does co-writing a comic counts? I’ve co-written a short comic series with an irl friend before. It was only shared amongst my group of friends.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
FrostIronStrange is definitely at the top. It’s one of the very few romance shippings that I do since I normally do platonic or familial ships like Gemtho, SansxToriel, CharaxFriskxAsriel, Grian and Pearl etc.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Most of my long fics. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of them and I’m not abandoning them, but I have this problem where once I finish outlining the plot of my fics, my brain automatically files them as completed and places them at the easily forgotten corner even though I didn’t finish writing them. Plus I have a habit of jumping around between different stories… listen, I write for fun okay? I enjoy writing for the sake of writing so I don’t really care if it gets complete or not. Thinking about ‘must complete’ gives me stress and I don’t think it’s worth carrying that pressure when life itself is already stressful.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Worldbuilding, plot making, character backgrounds.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Grammar, dialogue writings, endings.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I constantly writes in both English and Chinese, so that’s not an issue for me.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Team Crafted from the very old MCYT fandom
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
I like all of my fic. Case closed.
(You are never gonna force me to pick one. NEVER)
Who to tag next for the game?
I’m tagging everyone who has seen this post and hasn’t done the answers yet. So TAG, YOU’RE IT!

20 Questions For Fic Writers
Originally started by @izanae. Thanks for the tag @lycorogue
The original Fic Writers Ask thread was super long, so like LycoRogue, I decided to create my own post for it, but please do check out the original thread.
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
I currently have 18, though I have more on FFN. 8 for Miraculous Ladybug, 5 for W.I.T.C.H, 4 for Hellsing, and 1 for Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji
2. What’s your ao3 word count?
As of this post, I have a total of 619,000 words. Wowzers...
3. What fandoms do you write for?
At the moment, I mainly write for Hellsing and Black Butler. But I have also written for Miraculous Ladybug, W.I.T.C.H, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
1. Madness Within (Miraculous Ladybug) 2. Double Trouble (Hellsing) 3. Experimental Kiss (Miraculous Ladybug) 4. Destiny's Dance (Miraculous Ladybug) 5. Go and Conquer (Hellsing)
5. Do you reply to comments?
Sometimes. I always appreciate every single comment, but sometimes I don't always know how to reply without just giving a generic 'thank you' again, and again, and again. But I do read them all, I promise.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Tough one. I think if I had to pick though, it would probably be Project Darkness, an old Sonic the Hedgehog fic of mine.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I don't think I've ever done a fic with a 100% cheesy happy ending, but the happiest and closest to that would probably be Twelve Days of Chatmas (Miraculous Ladybug).
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not usually, but I have gotten hate on Madness Within (Miraculous Ladybug), which I guess was always an increased possibility due to the amount of views that story has. However, that hate has only ever been on FFN. It was mainly people bullying me over long periods between updates.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Not usually, but you're more likely to see me write smut for Hellsing and Black Butler. There are some sexual scenes planned for the future in some of those fics for those fandoms. I can't see me ever doing a 'porn with no plot' fic, but it would be more like 'sexposition' and will make sense with the plot (e.g. advancing character relationships etc).
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one?
No, but I have thought about it on the odd occasion.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Oh yes, and it is so annoying! My work is usually stolen by people on Wattpad, and the most recent stolen work of mine was Destiny's Dance (Miraculous Ladybug).
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yeah, which is awesome! Amicus (Hellsing) has been translated into Spanish by ayelenrock, who is also planning on translating my other Hellsing fics into Spanish. I've had a few offers for my fics to be translated into French and Russian, however, those have yet to be published as far as I'm aware.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yeah, I co-wrote a few Sonic the Hedgehog fics with @free-in-the-wind and @jowyavilon at one point in the past. However, we didn't get very far with them and they ended up abandoned. Our lives were just too busy.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Alucard/Seras from Hellsing.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Probably Immortal Bonds (Miraculous Ladybug). I just seem to have lost all motivation for it, like with quite a few Miraculous fics of mine. It's a shame because I HATE leaving stories unfinished.
16. What are your writing strengths?
People tell me I'm good at writing realistic emotions, so I guess that would be one? A lot of people have complimented me on my accurate representation of mental illnesses. Also, apparently I'm also really good at writing realistic child characters, and they seem to always be a favourite of my readers.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Names. I'm terrible at them, and it takes me ages to settle on something. Also fight and action scenes can be quite difficult to write sometimes.
18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language for a fic?
A rule I tend to use is try to imagine like it's real life. You'd probably understand, or at least discern, certain words in another language, so I tend to write those in. For example 'bonjour', or even simple sentences. However, if a character starts speaking full, long sentences in a foreign language, then I do not write this in, as it would probably just sound like gibberish from the point of view of the character I'm currently writing for. I simply point out that the other character is speaking in said language. I hope that made sense?
19. What’s the first fandom you wrote for?
W.I.T.C.H when I was, like, 10 years old or something? Back then, I didn't even know what fanfiction was, I just knew that I enjoyed writing my own stories based on the characters.
20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
I think I definitely have a soft spot for Double Trouble (Hellsing). I love Lily and Luna so much and they're so much fun to write!
I now no pressure tag: @pinkfluffacttuff @free-in-the-wind @inkyrable and of course anyone else who wants to take part!

"Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth."
1 John 3:18
PRACTICAL LOVE
In his book, The Upside Down Church, Pastor Greg Laurie says, “The first Christians didn’t out-argue pagans—they outlived them…Christianity made no attempts to conquer paganism and dead Judaism by reacting blow by blow. Instead, the Christians of the first century outthought, outprayed and outlived the unbelievers.
“Their weapons were positive not negative. As far as we know, they did not hold protests or conduct boycotts. They did not put on campaigns to try to unseat the emperor. Instead, they prayed and preached and proclaimed the message of Christ, put to death on the cross, risen from the dead, and ready to change lives. And they backed up their message with actions: giving, loving.”[6]
A co-worker shares a significant event he witnessed among Christian children in Egypt:
A crowd of smiling faces awaited us as we entered the small stuffy room. The ages of the children ranged from eight to eleven years and they were seemingly oblivious and unaware of the circumstances surrounding their village—poverty, problems and persecution. To be a Christian, let alone a Christian child, was not an easy life.
It was Saturday evening and the excitement that filled the air overwhelmed any feeling of self-pity and despair that might have existed. Between thirty and forty young boys, each equipped with a large maize bag, excitedly awaited orders.
As we entered the room the youth leader saw the frowns on our faces and answered our questions even before we could ask. “Yes, it’s Saturday evening,” he started explaining, “and tonight the children will once again ‘invade’ our little village. They will go to every house in every street. They will ask the inhabitants whether they have enough bread to eat or not. If there is more than enough bread in the house they will ask the families to place any extra bread in the bag for those who do not have enough bread.
“The children will continue until all the bags are filled to the top. Then the fun part of the evening starts. They will then go back to all the homes where there was not enough bread to eat and distribute so that every family in our village will have enough bread to eat for the next week.
“They do not have the means to provide it themselves, but regardless of their own needs, they have become instruments of love to eradicate all hunger in our village.”
Response
I will live this day showing love to those in need in the most practical ways.
Prayer
Lord, bless those Egyptian Christian children who love others and demonstrate it in a practical way.

Is John Mayer A Player, Or Just A Casualty Of Common Male Thinking?
Carb Back Loading by John Kiefer is well-liked & successful fitness and fat loss manual, and right now thousands of people are learning how easy it will be always to look where did they want every day of their lives - no self-deprivation required. Carb Back Loading helps you eat all possess food a muscular and still gain muscle while fat-loss simultaneously. That's essentially improvements are possible Kiefer makes, and he delivers again. When tenorshare icarefone seemed in paperback in 2007, it received critical acclaims and critical reviews. In which called in an effort to heretical and un-biblical. They, and I, to an extent, could not have been more totally wrong. The Shack was not intended as the theological study of the triune nature of Goodness. Much of this unfair criticism was because it had been too summary. The personages of the story are intended to resemble, but am not be exactly like, the Holy Trinity: God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit. All God and every one of co-equally Our creator. John: Yes, I absolutely agree along with you David, actually not practical for many many people. When you pop into business, everything freezes anyone personally in your own and suddenly it's demanding. You said it correctly you know, because small entrepreneurs are mostly connected into the business, they just don't let go off. It probably might be very wise for the actual let go and not wait so that the very holidays when they'd to to be the cash has run dehydrated. That may not be smart, but at changing time, to be able to fair, there are few who held on onto it and lived through. They would have to replace the business model and commercial models into something right. Locke 1 other 21st Century marketing phenom. He too used social marketing and rode the social media wave to conquer the big boys, the known authors and their traditional publishers, at unique game. I think the greatest concern for Mr. Olson, in his review for this Shack, was that of church is not required for answer. True enough, but churches are what Paul planted, and Jesus said the gates of hell will not prevail against it; not against Jesus followers. Mack asks a question in The Shack that humans are usually asking since they were created. How does God allow suffering? Why doesn't He stop the item? Because this would interfere with human's freewill (Olson, p. 26). God is respectful of mankind getting together again their own minds. Innocent children and babies die, like Mack's own princess or queen. He begins to question God. Since God is sovereign, and knows the future, is this part belonging to the crackback plan of God? In the event you young child's life? On his sovereignty, does He plan and assist with carry out such steps? office timeline is not a macho-man pep rally. photoscape 's a search for authentic maleness. An Analysis of Daddy Issues: with Sally Kempton
Source: (1971). Liberation Now! Writings from the Liberation Movement. Dell Publishing Co.
Excerpts from "Cutting Loose, by Sally Kempton (1970): Sex occupies even the economic center of [girls'] lives; it is, we have been brought up to feel, our lives work, Whatever else she may do, a woman is a failure if she fails to please men. The adolescent girl's situation is by definition dependent: she must attract, and therefore, however she may disguise it, she must arrange herself to conform with other people's ideas of what is valuable in a woman.
Kempton claims that because women are raised to be sex objects, all their own hopes and dreams are forced into that aspiration.
I was early trained to that position, trained, in the traditional manner, by my father. Like many men who are uncomfortable with adult women, my father saw his daughter as an antidote to his disappointment in her sex. I was someone who could be molded into a woman compatible with his needs, and also, unlike my mother, I was too impressionable to talk back."
The first relationships that most women have are with their fathers. and whether those men know it or not, they are molding their daughters into their "most hopeful self-image."
"It reached a point where I later suspected [my father] of nourishing a sort of eighteenth century fantasy in which the count teaches his daughter to read Virgil and ride like a man, and she grows up to be the perfect feminine companion, parroting him with such subtlety that it is impossible to tell that her thoughts and feelings, so perfectly coincident with his, are not original."
Because she has been so successfully groomed, the girl has no idea that the ideas her father puts into her head are not hers and serve his purposes rather than hers. Her mind is his.
"And since it also seemed to me that be preferred me, his daughter who never disagreed with him, to his wife who did (and that was a fantasy of course, but one to which my father devoted some effort toward keeping alive), I came to feel that male pwer, because uncoercible, could only be handled by seduction, and that the most comfortable relation between men and women was the relationship between pupil and student, between parent and child." (42-43)
The father-daughter-relationship is a narcissistic one. I could even go so far to say that a father's relationship to his daughter is a sexual one because when a father molds his daughter, he is molding an object of his own desire. Even if he is feeding you knowledge and proclaims himself liberal, a guide, your prophet... that knowledge, that conversation he affords you, all serves his purpose of being a childlike sex object. This will happen whether he knows it or not, because it is baked into society.
"My task, it seemed to me, was to find a man in whom there resided enough power to justify my acting the child, that is, to justify my acceptance of my own femininity. For I regarded myself as feminine only in my childlike aspect; when I presented myself as a thinking person I felt sexless." (43)
The male-teacher female-student relationship is indistinguishable from the father-daughter relationship. it replicates trauma, and that, as we know, can be comforting when that's what you know. But make no mistake. When a male teacher replicates the father-daughter relationship with his idolizing student and that relationship becomes sexual, he has conquered both her mind and her body, because she has been molded to produce his ideas. Her mind has been replaced with his mind, and so she, as he, makes her body his willingly.
"It is not much of a step from seeing oneself as a child in relation to men to seeing oneself as their victim; obviously a child does not control its environment, obviously a child is powerless before adults. All children are potential victims, depending on the world's will". (44).
Because women are kept AND KEEP THEMSLEVES in this state of childhood/sexual malleability—if they don't, they are told in a thousand ways they have no reason to live—they will continue to be victims with about the same vulnerability as a child has.

Book Review Samu Haber - Forever Yours
Biography of Samu Haber – Forever Yours
Written by Co-Author Tuomas Nyholm
When reading the first few lines of Samu Haber’s biography Forever Yours, published in 2020 and written by co-author Tuomas Nyholm, you could think you're holding a thriller in your hands and not the biography of one of the most famous Finnish musicians over the last few years. Samu’s way of life from the very beginning as a child until today has been like a roller coaster ride with ups and downs, breakdowns, big failures, and great success. And what nobody had expected before is the fact that it has also been paved with criminal machinations in which he sells rental rights to tourists in Spain and therefore almost goes to jail. Samu grows up in Viherlaakso, Finland, where he lives with his family. At the age of 6, his parents get divorced. As a consequence, he stays alone with his mother, his sister Sanna and his baby brother Santtu. He feels responsible for his family because now he is the man in the house and thinks he has to do all his father did so far. The one thing that keeps him up is ice hockey, which he loves and plays passionately until the age of 10. Suddenly his interests completely change at that moment he is holding a friend’s guitar in his hands for the very first time. But still, it should be a long way to his first success in the music industry. Thanks to his everlasting will, strength, and courage, he finally succeeds - his so-called world domination plan gets real. In the end, it takes him 102 visits to record labels to get a contract for recording his music. This has been the starting point to Samu’s great success with his band Sunrise Avenue, with whom he sold about over 3 million CDs, but also to personal disappointments, broken relationships, and mental breakdowns.
The most interesting fact of this biography is that Samu honestly reveals some traits of his character and true personality plus many facts behind the scenes fans wouldn’t have expected. He is often far away from being that sunny boy we see on screen. Few people would argue that he is a calculating and cold businessman, a personality with a big ego who takes his decisions without considering others people’s feelings. But it is this ruthless honesty that defines his story and makes the person Samu Haber approachable and vulnerable for the reader and his fans. His honest view inside the whole story of his career and his band Sunrise Avenue is supported by statements from band members, his manager Mikko Saukkonen, and friends who tell about personal experiences they made with the person Samu Haber over the past few years. When reading this book you can feel Samu’s passion for music, the band project, and the strong belief in his dreams. He is always ready to put all his effort into this and to give far more than 100% at any point in time. Even if it means that he or other people suffer from his decisions and the hard work he does. One proof for this is his experiences of being a star coach at The Voice of Germany for the first time. The audience only sees a joking and always smiling Finn sitting in that red, turning chair but nobody would have expected that exactly this Finn is full of fears and doubt because of his lack of knowledge of the German language. Then, he takes pills and drinks a whole bottle of wine every evening to be able to sleep at night and it is no wonder that someday he breaks down, mentally and physically. All those people who criticized this book or the person, Samu Haber, himself after they had read it don’t understand that he wouldn’t have got this far if he wasn’t who he is. He has a strong and a weak side, he did a lot of mistakes on his way to success and he admits that he isn’t proud of them but in the end, he also states that this is him and this is his story. You can decide whether you like it or not. My single point of critique is that if Samu had written the book himself and not with the help of a co-author it would have been even more personal but maybe it is sometimes better to realize your limits. Even if you can write wonderful songs that don’t mean you are also able to write a whole book and bring it into chronological and meaningful order. As an extra, the book includes some pages with photos from Samu’s photo album and a collage with pictures of fan tattoos.
This book is a must-read for all true fans of Samu Haber because his story is deeply motivating and inspiring for everyone. And, by the way, it immediately conquered number 1 of the Spiegel bestseller list with its publication. The message of Samu’s biography is clear: never give up your dreams, be strong and fight for what you believe in. You only got one life to live. Even if it seems to be impossible, if you have the strong will to reach a goal you can always do it no matter what the circumstances are like or as Samu states: Be honest, work hard and follow your heart.

Book Review: Ken Liu’s The Hidden Girl
by Dr. Sorcha Fogarty
Tumblr media
Ken Liu is an American author of speculative fiction. He has won the Nebula, Hugo, and World Fantasy awards, as well as top genre honors in Japan, Spain, and France, among other countries. Liu’s debut novel, The Grace of Kings, is the first volume in a silkpunk (a term invented by Liu himself: https://kenliu.name/books/what-is-silkpunk/) epic fantasy series, the Dandelion Dynasty, in which engineers play the role of wizards. His debut collection, The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories (2011), has been published in more than a dozen languages. He also wrote the Star Wars novel The Legends of Luke Skywalker in 2017 as part of the Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi publishing program. The Hidden Girl and Other Stories (2020) , Liu’s second collection of short stories, features sixteen short fiction pieces and also an excerpt from book three in the Dandelion Dynasty series, The Veiled Throne.
The Hidden Girl is largely focused on issues of science fiction – the future, climate change, artificial intelligence, with Liu’s insightful and unique stories interminably navigating the space between what’s real and what’s not. For fans of Charlie Brooker’s weird and wonderful Black Mirror television series, Liu’s stories will have a special appeal, with tales of cryptocurrency and internet trolling, devastating narratives of parent-child relationships, all tales replete with ambiguous endings, ironic twists, and even multiple interconnections between the stories.
This reader’s favourite in the collection is The Reborn; a grim tale, set on Earth after it has been conquered by the Tawnin, an alien species who take the idea of “compartmentalization” to extremes. As a short preface, “compartmentalization” is a defense mechanism that we all use to avoid the anxiety that arises from the clash of contradictory values or emotions. Essentially, conflicting social identities may be dealt with by compartmentalizing them and dealing with each only in a context-dependent way. There are obviously healthy and unhealthy manifestations of this – a healthy example would be that we may be less emotional or self-revelatory with our co-workers (context: work life) than we would be with our family and friends (context: personal life). Then there is the unhealthy manifestation, as is the case with narcissistic compartmentalization, whereby the narcissist simply manipulates “compartments” whenever it serves a beneficial purpose. When it’s convenient, the narcissist just moves in and out of each of his little compartmentalized rooms like a snake, carefully closing the door behind him whenever he chooses to leave one of those rooms, never to be heard from again, always suiting his own agenda. I digress, as it is such an interesting topic (and just one example of the many psychological and philosophical aspects of the stories in The Hidden Girl which tempts the reader towards deeper research), but it is one which Liu seizes upon with great insight in The Reborn, where he has one alien explain compartmentalization thus:
“The unified individual is a fallacy of traditional human philosophy … A criminal, for example, is but one person inhabiting a shared body with many others … a good father, husband, brother, son.”
This brings to mind Ray Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles (1950), in which two of the first priests on Mars have an argument over where their efforts should be spent: eradicating sin in humans or in the Martians. There is the question and reply:
“Can’t you recognize the human in the inhuman?”
“I’d rather recognize the inhuman in the human.”
While many critics have suggested that this is the point of Bradbury’s classic novel, to explore both the human and the inhuman in the human, on reading Liu’s collection, I am reminded of Bradbury, as Liu’s stories explore glories and tragedies, virtues and evils, across time, tradition, and moral landscapes. Furthermore, Liu holds a deep appreciation for the living layers of history and tradition, as he states, “Modern day is deeply connected with paths layered on top of older infrastructures.” For example, internet cables run along the same lines as old railroads, which in turn were laid along former wagon trails. Throughout the stories that comprise The Hidden Girl, there is a literal and figurative exploration of layers, and sometimes, both ways at once.
If you are coming to Liu’s writing for the first time, you’ll be glad that you did, and if you’re a returning reader, you won’t be disappointed. The stories are incredibly poignant and powerful; in fact, they have the effect of leading the reader through a sort of preternatural philosophical labyrinth which opens up a multitude of questions, and subsequently, the desire to find answers. In the story “Ghost Days”, Liu writes, “Sometimes understanding comes to you not through thought, but through this throbbing of the heart, this tenderness in the chest that hurts.” The Hidden Girl is full of enlightening and transfixing phrases such as these, as Liu searches for beauty in devastation, and looks both to the future and the past with nostalgia, reverence and hope.

Last week someone asked if I knew of any good lists of memoirs and coming-of-age novels. We do have a list of memoirs, but that was created four years ago and several more have been published since then that we’d recommend. I couldn’t recall or find a list like she was describing for coming-of-age books either, so the librarian in me felt the need to make one. Here’s an updated collection of memoirs along with a few coming-of-age novels. If you know of others written by BIPOC authors that you would recommend, please share the titles.
Memoirs
All Boys Aren’t Blue: A Memoir-Manifesto by George M. Johnson Farrar, Straus and Giroux (Byr)
In a series of personal essays, prominent journalist and LGBTQIA+ activist George M. Johnson explores his childhood, adolescence, and college years in New Jersey and Virginia. From the memories of getting his teeth kicked out by bullies at age five, to flea marketing with his loving grandmother, to his first sexual relationships, this young-adult memoir weaves together the trials and triumphs faced by Black queer boys.
Both a primer for teens eager to be allies as well as a reassuring testimony for young queer men of color, All Boys Aren’t Blue covers topics such as gender identity, toxic masculinity, brotherhood, family, structural marginalization, consent, and Black joy. Johnson’s emotionally frank style of writing will appeal directly to young adults.
Almost American Girl: An Illustrated Memoir by Robin Ha Balzer & Bray/Harperteen
For as long as she can remember, it’s been Robin and her mom against the world. Growing up as the only child of a single mother in Seoul, Korea, wasn’t always easy, but it has bonded them fiercely together.
So when a vacation to visit friends in Huntsville, Alabama, unexpectedly becomes a permanent relocation–following her mother’s announcement that she’s getting married–Robin is devastated.
Overnight, her life changes. She is dropped into a new school where she doesn’t understand the language and struggles to keep up. She is completely cut off from her friends in Seoul and has no access to her beloved comics. At home, she doesn’t fit in with her new stepfamily, and worst of all, she is furious with the one person she is closest to–her mother.
Then one day Robin’s mother enrolls her in a local comic drawing class, which opens the window to a future Robin could never have imagined.
Banned Book Club by Kim Hyun Sook, Ryan Estrada, Hyung-Ju Ko (Illustrator) Iron Circus Comics [Crystal’s Review] [Q&A with Authors – in a Comic]
When Kim Hyun Sook started college in 1983 she was ready for her world to open up. After acing her exams and sort-of convincing her traditional mother that it was a good idea for a woman to go to college, she looked forward to soaking up the ideas of Western Literature far from the drudgery she was promised at her family’s restaurant. But literature class would prove to be just the start of a massive turning point, still focused on reading but with life-or-death stakes she never could have imagined.
This was during South Korea’s Fifth Republic, a military regime that entrenched its power through censorship, torture, and the murder of protestors. In this charged political climate, with Molotov cocktails flying and fellow students disappearing for hours and returning with bruises, Hyun Sook sought refuge in the comfort of books. When the handsome young editor of the school newspaper invited her to his reading group, she expected to pop into the cafeteria to talk about Moby Dick, Hamlet, and The Scarlet Letter. Instead she found herself hiding in a basement as the youngest member of an underground banned book club. And as Hyun Sook soon discovered, in a totalitarian regime, the delights of discovering great works of illicit literature are quickly overshadowed by fear and violence as the walls close in.
It’s Trevor Noah: Born a Crime Stories from a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah Delacorte Press
Trevor Noah, the funny guy who hosts The Daily Show on Comedy Central, shares his remarkable story of growing up in South Africa with a black South African mother and a white European father at a time when it was against the law for a mixed-race child to exist. But he did exist–and from the beginning, the often-misbehaved Trevor used his keen smarts and humor to navigate a harsh life under a racist government. This fascinating memoir blends drama, comedy, and tragedy to depict the day-to-day trials that turned a boy into a young man. In a country where racism barred blacks from social, educational, and economic opportunity, Trevor surmounted staggering obstacles and created a promising future for himself, thanks to his mom’s unwavering love and indomitable will.
Infinite Hope: A Black Artist’s Journey from WWII to Peace by Ashley Bryan Atheneum Books
In May of 1942, at the age of eighteen, Ashley Bryan was drafted to fight in World War II. For the next three years, he would face the horrors of war as a black soldier in a segregated army.
He endured the terrible lies white officers told about the black soldiers to isolate them from anyone who showed kindness–including each other. He received worse treatment than even Nazi POWs. He was assigned the grimmest, most horrific tasks, like burying fallen soldiers…but was told to remove the black soldiers first because the media didn’t want them in their newsreels. And he waited and wanted so desperately to go home, watching every white soldier get safe passage back to the United States before black soldiers were even a thought.
For the next forty years, Ashley would keep his time in the war a secret. But now, he tells his story. The story of the kind people who supported him. The story of the bright moments that guided him through the dark. And the story of his passion for art that would save him time and time again.
Ordinary Hazards: A Memoir by Nikki Grimes Wordsong
In her own voice, acclaimed author and poet Nikki Grimes explores the truth of a harrowing childhood in a compelling and moving memoir in verse. Growing up with a mother suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and a mostly absent father, Nikki Grimes found herself terrorized by babysitters, shunted from foster family to foster family, and preyed upon by those she trusted. At the age of six, she poured her pain onto a piece of paper late one night – and discovered the magic and impact of writing. For many years, Nikki’s notebooks were her most enduing companions. In this accessible and inspiring memoir that will resonate with young readers and adults alike, Nikki shows how the power of those words helped her conquer the hazards – ordinary and extraordinary – of her life.
They Called Us Enemy by George Takei, Justin Eisinger, Steven Scott, Harmony Becker (Illustrator)Top Shelf Productions
They Called Us Enemy is Takei’s firsthand account of those years behind barbed wire, the joys and terrors of growing up under legalized racism, his mother’s hard choices, his father’s faith in democracy, and the way those experiences planted the seeds for his astonishing future. What does it mean to be American? Who gets to decide? When the world is against you, what can one person do? To answer these questions, George Takei joins co-writers Justin Eisinger & Steven Scott and artist Harmony Becker for the journey of a lifetime.

Darius the Great is Not Okay by Adib Khorram Penguin Books [Interview with Adib Khorram]
Darius Kellner speaks better Klingon than Farsi, and he knows more about Hobbit social cues than Persian ones. He’s a Fractional Persian–half, his mom’s side–and his first-ever trip to Iran is about to change his life.
Darius has never really fit in at home, and he’s sure things are going to be the same in Iran. His clinical depression doesn’t exactly help matters, and trying to explain his medication to his grandparents only makes things harder. Then Darius meets Sohrab, the boy next door, and everything changes. Soon, they’re spending their days together, playing soccer, eating faludeh, and talking for hours on a secret rooftop overlooking the city’s skyline. Sohrab calls him Darioush–the original Persian version of his name–and Darius has never felt more like himself than he does now that he’s Darioush to Sohrab.
Forward Me Back to You by Mitali Perkins Farrar, Straus and Giroux (Byr)
Katina King is the reigning teen jujitsu champion of Northern California, but she’s having trouble fighting off the secrets in her past.
Robin Thornton was adopted from an orphanage in India and is reluctant to take on his future. If he can’t find his roots, how can he possibly plan ahead?
Robin and Kat meet in the most unlikely of places–a summer service trip to Kolkata to work with survivors of human trafficking. As bonds build between the travelmates, Robin and Kat discover that justice and healing are tangled, like the pain of their pasts and the hope for their futures. You can’t rewind life; sometimes you just have to push play.
In turns heart wrenching, beautiful, and buoyant, Mitali Perkins’s Forward Me Back to You focuses its lens on the ripple effects of violence–across borders and generations–and how small acts of heroism can break the cycle.
Hearts Unbroken by Cynthia Leitich Smith Candlewick Press
When Louise Wolfe’s first real boyfriend mocks and disrespects Native people in front of her, she breaks things off and dumps him over e-mail. It’s her senior year, anyway, and she’d rather spend her time with her family and friends and working on the school newspaper. The editors pair her up with Joey Kairouz, the ambitious new photojournalist, and in no time the paper’s staff find themselves with a major story to cover: the school musical director’s inclusive approach to casting The Wizard of Oz has been provoking backlash in their mostly white, middle-class Kansas town. From the newly formed Parents Against Revisionist Theater to anonymous threats, long-held prejudices are being laid bare and hostilities are spreading against teachers, parents, and students — especially the cast members at the center of the controversy, including Lou’s little brother, who’s playing the Tin Man. As tensions mount at school, so does a romance between Lou and Joey — but as she’s learned, “dating while Native” can be difficult. In trying to protect her own heart, will Lou break Joey’s?
Loveboat, Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen Harperteen [Jessica’s Review]
And just like that, Ever Wong’s summer takes an unexpected turn. Gone is Chien Tan, the strict educational program in Taiwan that Ever was expecting. In its place, she finds Loveboat: a summer-long free-for-all where hookups abound, adults turn a blind eye, snake-blood sake flows abundantly, and the nightlife runs nonstop.
But not every student is quite what they seem:
Ever is working toward becoming a doctor but nurses a secret passion for dance.
Rick Woo is the Yale-bound child prodigy bane of Ever’s existence whose perfection hides a secret.
Boy-crazy, fashion-obsessed Sophie Ha turns out to have more to her than meets the eye.
And under sexy Xavier Yeh’s shell is buried a shameful truth he’ll never admit.
When these students’ lives collide, it’s guaranteed to be a summer Ever will never forget.
Parachutes by Kelly Yang Katherine Tegen Books

Suddenly she finds herself living in a stranger’s house, with no one to tell her what to do for the first time in her life. She soon embraces her newfound freedom, especially when the hottest and most eligible parachute, Jay, asks her out.
Dani De La Cruz, Claire’s new host sister, couldn’t be less thrilled that her mom rented out a room to Claire. An academic and debate team star, Dani is determined to earn her way into Yale, even if it means competing with privileged kids who are buying their way to the top. But Dani’s game plan veers unexpectedly off course when her debate coach starts working with her privately.
As they steer their own distinct paths, Dani and Claire keep crashing into one another, setting a course that will change their lives forever.
Yes No Maybe So by Aisha Saeed & Becky Albertalli Balzer & Bray/Harperteen [Group Discussion]
YES
Jamie Goldberg is cool with volunteering for his local state senate candidate–as long as he’s behind the scenes. When it comes to speaking to strangers (or, let’s face it, speaking at all to almost anyone) Jamie’s a choke artist. There’s no way he’d ever knock on doors to ask people for their votes…until he meets Maya.
NO
Maya Rehman’s having the worst Ramadan ever. Her best friend is too busy to hang out, her summer trip is canceled, and now her parents are separating. Why her mother thinks the solution to her problems is political canvassing–with some awkward dude she hardly knows–is beyond her.
MAYBE SO
Going door to door isn’t exactly glamorous, but maybe it’s not the worst thing in the world. After all, the polls are getting closer–and so are Maya and Jamie. Mastering local activism is one thing. Navigating the cross-cultural crush of the century is another thing entirely.

Scorpion" is the alias of Hanzo Hasashi, formerly one of the finest warriors of the Japanese Shirai Ryu ninja clan,[2] until he was slain by Bi-Han, a member of the Lin Kuei (a rival clan of Chinese assassins) who worked under the name "Sub-Zero". Scorpion became a "hellspawn" revenant residing in Hell, later called the Netherrealm, who sought vengeance against those responsible for the destruction of his clan and the murder of his family, including his wife Harumi and his son Satoshi. Although essentially neutral in allegiance, Scorpion joins forces with anyone who can assist in his plans of revenge. He was once manipulated by the sorcerer Quan Chi, whom he promised his life to in exchange for his impressive kombat abilities in order to defeat Sub-Zero.[1]
In his initial backstory, displayed in the first game's (1992) attract mode, he is described as only having enmity towards Sub-Zero, which was attributed to rivalries between their opposing ninja clans. His ending revealed that he was actually an undead specter who had been killed by Sub-Zero and was survived by a wife and child.[3] This was further explored in a tie-in comic book written and illustrated by MK co-creator John Tobias and published by Midway. In a one-page scene, set aboard a junk en route to Mortal Kombat tournament host Shang Tsung's private island, Scorpion shocks Sub-Zero with his unexpected return exactly two years after his death, declaring that his "demons" had allowed him to return and avenge his demise.[4] After Shokan Prince Goro's defeat at the hands of eventual champion Liu Kang, Shang Tsung's army launched an attack, forcing Scorpion to team up with Sub-Zero, the thunder god Raiden, and other tournament survivors to hold them back before he killed his rival and disappeared.[4]
In Mortal Kombat II (1993), Scorpion discovers Sub-Zero has somehow returned, and planned to compete in the second Mortal Kombat tournament held in the otherworldly dimension of Outworld and hosted by the realm's emperor Shao Kahn. He tracks his nemesis down but notices, in the process, Sub-Zero sparing the life of an opponent in battle. Scorpion realizes that this is not Bi-Han, but instead his younger brother, Kuai Liang, who had taken on his brother's codename in his memory and was tasked with completing his failed mission of assassinating Shang Tsung. As a result, Scorpion vowed to serve as the new Sub-Zero's guardian in atonement for killing his older brother.[5]
In the 2005 beat 'em up spin-off Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, set during the events of Mortal Kombat II, Scorpion is a boss character who attempts to kill the game's playable protagonists Liu Kang and Kung Lao. He appears in both masked and unmasked forms, with the latter being named "Inferno Scorpion". The planned co-op game, Mortal Kombat: Fire & Ice, which would have starred Scorpion and Sub-Zero as the protagonists, was canceled when Paradox Development, the developers of Shaolin Monks, "couldn't do it in time and under budget."[6]
Scorpion, along with all of the game's palette-swapped human ninja characters, was not playable in Mortal Kombat 3, but returned in the 1995 upgrade Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 when Shao Kahn tried to conquer the Netherrealm after his invasion of Earth, and enlisted the ninja in his forces. Scorpion's allegiance to the Kahn quickly dissolved when he discovers, in a continuance of his MKII storyline, that Sub-Zero was one of Earth's chosen warriors, with whom he sided in their final showdown with Shao Kahn.[1]
Quan Chi was officially introduced into Scorpion's rivalry with Sub-Zero in the main MK storyline, starting with Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero (1997). Scorpion is featured therein as an unplayable boss character, appearing twice throughout the game. Despite playing a minor role, his background was officially expanded in a feature on the game's official website, where his real name and that of his clan were revealed, while his yellow outfit was described as an apparent mockery of the Lin Kuei after former Lin Kuei member Takeda developed ninjutsu before leaving the clan and forming the rival Shirai Ryu.[2] Scorpion is enlisted by Quan Chi to find a map hidden in a Shaolin temple, a task the sorcerer also gave to Sub-Zero in order to engage the two rival ninjas in combat. If the player performs a killer move on Scorpion, he will reappear as another boss later in the game. In Mortal Kombat 4 (1997), Quan Chi tricked Scorpion into believing that Sub-Zero was involved in the deaths of his family and clan, resulting in the specter allying with him. In Scorpion's ending, he emerges victorious over Sub-Zero, but Quan Chi reveals his involvement in killing Scorpion's clan and family. When the sorcerer attempts to banish Scorpion, the latter grabs the former at the last minute, sending them both to the Netherrealm.[7] A variation of this ending was seen in Sub-Zero's conclusion, when Sub-Zero stands over a fallen Scorpion before being knocked down by Quan Chi, who again reveals his scheme and claims that both ninjas were pawns for the fallen Elder God Shinnok, which results in Scorpion killing Quan Chi and declaring Sub-Zero free of his curse.[8]
Scorpion's MK4 ending is carried over into Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (2002), where he relentlessly hunts down Quan Chi, only to be attacked by the Oni Drahmin and Moloch, whom the sorcerer had hired as protection and to help free him from the Netherrealm. In his non-canonical ending, Scorpion is killed when Drahmin and Moloch hurl him into a Soulnado, a magical tornado consisting of tormented souls trapped between Earthrealm and Outworld. In Scorpion's biography in Mortal Kombat: Deception however, he is depicted as having escaped as well. He meets the Elder Gods, which, coupled with his witnessing Raiden's death and the emergence of Onaga, the Dragon King, causes him to accept a new role as the Elder Gods' servant while working to prevent Onaga's merging of the realms.
In the Konquest mode of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (2006), Scorpion cuts a deal with the Elder Gods to serve them in exchange for the resurrection of the Shirai Ryu and his wife and son.[1] However, they resurrect them as undead beings. Enraged, Scorpion seeks to destroy the Elder Gods' chance of preventing Armageddon by taking the elemental Blaze's power, but the Edenian demigod Taven defeats him and he is later killed by Sub-Zero in a battle royal amongst the series characters in the game's opening sequence.[9]
In the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot, an alternative-timeline retelling of the first three titles, Scorpion reprises his role from the first game in seeking vengeance against the elder Sub-Zero, Bi-Han. This time though, he serves Quan Chi from the start, unaware that the sorcerer is the mastermind behind the murder of his family and clan. Raiden, attempting to alter the timeline in hopes of averting Armageddon, talks Scorpion into sparing Sub-Zero's life in exchange for reviving the Shirai Ryu. Scorpion agrees, and when he defeats Sub-Zero in the Netherrealm, he refuses to kill him. However, Quan Chi convinces Scorpion otherwise by showing him a graphic vision of Sub-Zero murdering his wife and child. Despite Sub-Zero protests, Scorpion promptly incinerates him. He reappears on the tournament grounds holding Sub-Zero's skull and spinal column.[10] Later in the game, the younger Sub-Zero Kuai Liang seeks revenge for his brother's death by demanding a fight with Scorpion in Shao Kahn's arena, which Quan Chi grants. Scorpion immediately recognizes the new Sub-Zero as the original's younger brother, and while he is defeated, Kuai Liang is apprehended by his clan before he finish the revenant off.[11] Scorpion is last seen when he fights and loses to Raiden in the Netherrealm before disappearing.[12] In his non-canonical arcade ending, the Shirai Ryu appear before Scorpion as ghostly apparitions who reveal the truth about their murder and aid him in killing Quan Chi for his deception. In Sub-Zero's ending, he learns the truth about his and Scorpion's families and offers the specter a chance to join him in his quest for vengeance. Scorpion accepts, joining Sub-Zero to form their own Deadly Alliance.[13]
In Mortal Kombat X, which takes place two years after the previous game, Scorpion was sent to attack the Special Forces alongside a revenant version of Kuai Liang. Due to the efforts of Raiden and his allies however, they were restored to their human forms and freed from Quan Chi's control. Over the course of the following two decades, the newly restored Hanzo Hasashi reformed the Shirai Ryu, trained Kenshi's son Takeda Takahashi, and made amends with the young Sub-Zero after he revealed Quan Chi was responsible for the murder of his family and clan. When the Special Forces captured Quan Chi, a revenge-minded Hasashi subdued them and released the sorcerer so he could challenge him to a final fight before he killed him. Concurrently, Quan Chi's associate D'Vorah appeared so she could have the sorcerer free Shinnok from his amulet. Hasashi decapitated Quan Chi, but not before he could finish reciting a spell to successfully free the fallen Elder God, who immediately incapacitated everyone in the surrounding area.
In Mortal Kombat 11, Hasashi continues to lead the Shirai Ryu in protecting Earthrealm as its Grandmaster a further two years after MKX and Shinnok's defeat. When the keeper of time Kronika caused a time anomaly in an attempt to erase Raiden from history, she brought a past version of Scorpion to the present so she could recruit him to her fold with the promise of resurrecting his clan and family.[14] Meanwhile, Hasashi worked with Sub-Zero to foil Lin Kuei clansman turned cyber ninja Sektor and his plans to build a Cyber Lin Kuei army. They were successful, despite facing opposition from Bi-Han, who had been resurrected as the revenant Noob Saibot, and learning that Sektor played a role in murdering Hasashi's clan and family.[15] After Kronika's forces compromise or destroy most of their bases, Hasashi agrees to house his Earthrealm allies at the Shirai Ryu's Fire Gardens.[16] To help locate Kronika's Keep, Hasashi suggests forging an alliance with Kharon, a ferryman who transports unfortunate souls to the Netherrealm who he and Sub-Zero met while they were revenants.[17] He succeeds in recruiting Kharon and convincing his younger self to turn away from Kronika, but he is killed by D'Vorah. With his dying breath, he urges his younger self to abandon his pursuit of vengeance and defend Earthrealm. Scorpion keeps his word and joins the allied forces of Earthrealm and Outworld to stop Kronika.[18][19][20] In his non-canonical arcade ending, the younger Scorpion fails to keep his promise to his future self, and kills Kronika so he can restart history to ensure his loved ones' survival. When he discovers that otherworldly forces conspire to make sure the tragedy always repeats itself, he undergoes a quest for revenge against them.

Sekiro: shadows die twice, a game that I would order an authentic katana and perform ritual disembowelment to play right now
Tumblr media
Sekiro: Shadows Die twice
Publisher: From Software/Activison
Will be Released: March 22, 2019
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is the next big triple A title in line, set to be released by FromSoftware, on the above-mentioned release date. I have been extremely fucking excited for this game for many different reasons. I think most importantly to me, I really fucking love Japanese folk lore as well as the many different romanticized forms of artwork that center around this time period (Books, Manga, Artworks, retro video games). Another reason is that there aren’t too many great JRPGs that are centered on feudal japan, with many of them never being translated and brought over sees to the west, or some being so damn old they’re nearly unplayable.
[It is important to note that a game called Nioh was released a few years back which was based during this (Sengoku) time period and took its inspiration from Dank souls’ (A From software franchise) game play structure, focusing on a brutal difficulty curb, co-op, and good environmental design. I believe its high critical acclaim and amount of sales really proved that a modern video-game based on feudal japan can indeed provide a viable business investment if marketed in the west.]
Anyways, FromSoftware is also an amazing developer, so any thing is pretty much certified to be a masterpiece that their team bestows upon us. From what I’ve learned (doing my own half assed research) in the actual game, you play as an undead shinobi/ ninja whose hell bent on rescuing his adorable miracle-blood-lord-child... from a clan of warriors(The Ashina I believe...) and possibly cultists who have basically conquered a majority of the northern regions of japan (something like a fictionalized Oda Nobunaga). While on your path towards this young lord and glory you pretty much fight through hordes of demonic creatures and warriors who are loosely based on the mythical aspects of Japanese folk lore.
I was a bit worried when I heard that Activison was going to be within a 1000 mile radius of this game‘s development team but from what I’ve read they’re just mainly helping with the promotion and bug testing(PRAISE THE DEMON BUDDAH!). If it were up to them though, we’d be paying for goddamned samurai style hair-bun-loot boxes, but we can only hope not as the game has not yet been released. Hopefully this game gets the attention and respect it deserves when it finally does release,  and I’m sure it will bring in many more newcomers to the FromSoftware’s game franchises as well.

Creation, Nature, God, Life: No Difference
Achillea millefolium, a.k.a. Yarrow
This commentary began its life as a post on Facebook, but in bringing it to this medium much has been added.
Mt. St. Helens from 47 miles away.
Working through my first year (two-plus seasons ~ fall, winter, and spring) in the Pacific Northwest, I am literally *awed* by Nature: its beauty, intelligence, power and grace. It is humbling to see how *little* this great Gift is appreciated or used intelligently in our society. Indeed, we still act as though Nature is either a conquest to be pursued, or when it knocks us on our asses, a malevolent adversary.
How ironic since we can’t live a life of any real quality without it.
As such, it is appalling how *alien* our social/cultural and technological beliefs, habits and practices have become, when measured against Nature’s Design and Standard Instruction Set.

One example is how we’ve grown accustomed to administering (or receiving) ~ especially to children ~ chemical injections to “fight” future diseases that we don’t have now, as though the human immune system is incapable of responding to *any* real threat.

The human body comes standard with full self-repair capability. In the same way that the heart beats on its own and systems work without us having to go to school to learn how to “control” them, a wide range of injuries will repair quite automatically with minimal intervention on our parts.
And if we know and give our body what it needs, it will reciprocate by sustained health, strength, longevity, and more qualities that we have believed were not “standard” fare.
Available at shopphaelos.com
No one told us that throughout primary education (but is included in my book, I Am My Body, NOT!) Apparently, no one tells this simple fact to future doctors during all their years of training in medical school.
Since we don’t think of the body having self-repair abilities built-in, then we’re not inclined to see government-led obsession with vaccination policies and practices as a convenient way to intentionally break down the population’s natural defense systems (and their cognitive abilities), as part of some broader plan of what might be termed, “population duncity” and control.
The net effect is a dumber and more “manageable” population, whose social norms are presumed to reflect their general, and actual level of evolution and intelligence.
But this is a false reading.
How can there be true evolution when devolving social norms have been “programmed” in and are running with our help and defense?
A devolving social norm is any standardized activity that, in an of itself, lowers the quality of life, often under the guise of improving it. In addition to the practice of vaccine use and policy already described, our society today there are many examples:
War (killing and destruction to get one’s way) or the threat thereof
Circumcision ~ easily forgotten and dismissed later in life, but this act creates a major trauma that affects the child’s metabolic and psychological development
Application and use of toxic agents to “fight” (meaning kill) microorganisms in humans and animals that are thought to be causes of “disease”.
Application and use of toxic agents to “fight” (kill) microorganisms in soils to make it more convenient to grow single crops.
Application and use of toxic agents into the water supply and atmosphere.
Extraction of fluid substances from the earth to run our internal combustion engines when other methods are available that are more efficient, produce far more power, with far less adverse effects to the environment.
There are many more examples.
A Mind Game
The Mind: More than we have been led to think.
Yes, the social drivers of society are running a self-destruct program targeted at the mind of every human being, where it can’t be seen, but from whence all beliefs and behaviors are formed.
HOWEVER, since the program itself is unnatural it will degrade on its own if not reinforced regularly. This applies to genetically modified organisms (GMO) as well as psychological operations (PSYOPS). Human Nature would immediately restore itself if we turn off the nefarious suggestions of institutionalized cultural “programming”.
The Natural Human Being is nothing like the crazed animal that is suggested in some “civilized” circles.
By the way, the human mind is not the brain. There is one Mind, from which all that we see, perceive, and imagine, springs. The brain, and every component that makes up the human body, is a product of the Mind. All that exists, both manifested and unmanifested, comes from the Mind. You journey within the Mind whether you have a physical body, or not.
The Mind is “physical” and not physical. ALL that is “physical” come into existence from the Mind as a product, effect, and result of your desire and Will, and through the auspices of vibrational resonance and affinity.
In the non-physical regions of The Mind are the patterns and matrices that make physical organization and change possible. It is due to the existence of these perfect and unalterable templates that a consistently recognizable “you” is possible. The stability of these templates is also why and how the microscopic lifeforms that live within the body are able to repair and renew body parts through the process known as healing.
The practice of administering antibiotics, another of those self-destructive cultural norms, decimates entire populations of lifeforms that would normally and naturally protect, repair or rebuild areas within the body that had been injured, or become dysfunctional.

We allow these lifeforms populations to be decimated by doctors’ prescriptions without a second thought, and oblivious to the effect that such medications have on overall balance within the ecosystem.
Yet, if left alone, balance would restore itself. This is why opinion managers need humanity’s attention in order to continue the distraction, diversion, and deception through empty promises, fear, misinformation, and outright lies.
Another great title that goes into great detail on the roles that the microbial population plays within the human body, is Spontaneous Evolution: Our Positive Future and a Way to Get There, co-written by Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D and Steve Bhaerman.

The degrees and levels of cognitive and metabolic dysfunction that humanity presently experiences and exhibits is the result of the imposition, perpetuation, and intensification of unnatural, unsustainable, destructive behaviors for the apparent gain of a minuscule segment of the population (“rulers” and “leaders”) at the great expense to the vast majority.
A Microbial Holocaust
Indeed, the process of introducing such substances into the human ecosystem actually kills off large numbers of proto-lifeforms and microorganisms that would normally respond IF the need arrived.

The ability to heal is implicit with the ability to disable. The relationship between the two activities ~ thought to be linear in nature ~ has been elusive, mainly because the perpetrators (latter-day elites who run major corporations, governments, military, medical institutions and their agents) are getting what they want; a sense of control over, and ownership of the planet and all that dwell thereon.
Furthermore, the “prey” have been convinced that it is better not to question. In other words, “Conquered”.
We, who either promote or defend such practices or allow them to continue, don’t help ourselves by simply following precedent and bowing (or bending over) to these Draconian “traditions”, especially in light of the astounding rise in crises, chronic disorders, and conflicts that, in spite of claims to the contrary, can be linked to certain practices.
This stuff eventually reaches consumers’ stomachs.
The substances used today (not just vaccines) are far different (and more damaging) than they were even a few decades ago. While there is great denial of any link to damage to health, the environment, or human cognitive abilities and consciousness, there is little appreciation for the real price, beyond “money” and “health”, that is extracted and paid from ALL.
Passive Parties to Insanity
It’s amazing how we continue to allow ourselves and our children to be exposed to these substances in so many ways. This is the effect of trusting (or not questioning) the perpetrators, and the not knowing to what extent they affect us.
There may be another factor: cellular memory of gruesome measures taken against large populations by people intent on “playing God”.

inquisition: n. ~ an ecclesiastical tribunal established by Pope Gregory IX c. 1232 for the suppression of heresy. It was active chiefly in northern Italy and southern France, becoming notorious for the use of torture. In 1542 the papal Inquisition was re-established to combat Protestantism, eventually becoming an organ of papal government.
A significant portion of the world’s population, proponents of Christianity, is expecting a major conflagration, a head-to-head battle between “good” and “evil”, as embodied in their chief protagonist, Jesus Christ, “Lord” and “Son of God”.
My use of quote marks is not to mock the term, or the use thereof. I use them to question, even challenge the appellation. The Jesus figure has been set up as someone to worship; an idol by any other definition. He is called a “Savior” by many believers, who think they are incapable of being or setting the example or living up to the standard that He apparently set.
Based on the stories written in the bible, for which a dear price was very likely paid many generations ago by those who didn’t believe, adherents today are thoroughly immersed in the idea that He had powers then that they don’t possess today.
Wisdom and Knowledge? Yes. Powers, No.
One thing about “worshiping” another being, the worshiper excuses and absolves himself from taking an active role in knowing the truth (that we are expressions of Source), and when the truth is known, then making it part of your day-to-day experience.
This includes the simple advice to treat others the way you would be treated, “loving your neighbor as yourself”.
No one can “love” another if they are of a mind that they need a “savior”. They can’t even accept, respect, or love who they are. Yet true love, freedom, truth and knowledge begins there… within
A Long History of Little Change
Few humans can imagine doing this to other humans, but such practices were once widespread.
“Anyone who attempts to construe a personal view of God which conflicts with Church dogma must be burned without pity.” – Pope Innocent III
SOURCE: crashedculture.com
Some will rationalize the acts inferred above as being of the “Dark Ages”, but its easy to see that the same type of thinking is liberally sprinkled throughout certain sectors of society to this very day.
Our fixation on the visible, perceivable world renders us blind to the ideas (of Mind) that drive them. The incessant debate for and against gun control in response to the growing phenomena of cultural self-destruction with guns, totally ignores the ecological, metabolic, and psychological damage that is still being by our unchallenged use of chemicals. Few voices are being raised (though some are) to end vaccination and circumcision practices.
More people are preferring foods that have not been injected with hormones and genetically modified. Even more are preferring produce grown on lands, and using methods that restore balance to soil and water.
We’ve got a lot of turning around to do, as the greatest damage was psychological and spiritual, which is both the hardest and easiest to change.
A New Day: Loving Nature
These toxin-free apples will enhance someone’s life when they grow up.
If we imagine that the practices associated with that period for which millions of people horribly, wrongly, and needlessly suffered were passed on as recollections from generation to generation, it would be easy to see how, or why so many people today are content to believe in God, or a doctrine rather than seek to know and exercise their own, true, creative, equal, divine nature.
Then they’ll act surprised, unduly inconvenienced, and unfairly targeted when diseases surface after we have indulged, or permitted one egregious crime against Nature after another for years and even generations.
For those who may wonder what a crime against Nature is, please consider for a moment that ALL of humanity (you and me included) is part of Nature. (Even Trump, Hillary, et al.)
As expressions of Life (and sometimes sentient), we are already part of the Natural Order; not apart from it. No other “Order”, neither “New” nor “Old” World, is Natural.
The Natural Order will always trump the unnatural schemes and practices dreamed up by wannabe “emperors”.
For these and other reasons, we have institutionalized many unnatural practices with respect to our environment, both inside the body, and out.
The alarming rise in long-term, chronic diseases can also be stated as the decline in natural immune function. This should be, and would be obvious to anyone not trained to set aside common sense, ignore reason, or suppress the truth in order to continue receiving a paycheck, or to not question an opinion simply because the practitioner has “credentials” (and we’re not worthy if we don’t) or might get offended.
Do you see the mental “game” they’re playing?
The social experiment on the human race has gone so far that Pavlov would be green with envy.
We who make wars possible by cooperation with puerile tyrants and despots, who make famine possible by making a world industry that grows and delivers “foods” that provide little nourishment; we have grown accustomed to sitting around, waiting for our Savior, and listening to others’ promises to make our lives better, to the point that we don’t actively do it ourselves.
How ironic that we’ve grown so mentally, emotionally, and socially afraid and dependent, then boast our courage and independence? How tragic that we’re so ready to “protect” ourselves from each other that “killing” is the way… as long as its an *approved* “enemy?”
I write these thoughts because, consciously or not, intentionally or not, this is our doing. Whether we knew it, agreed, or not, our BS meters were damaged or turned off when we entered this realm.
I say this because I KNOW that in spite of claims of intelligence ~ evidence of which is seen everywhere in the Natural Order ~ humanity acts pretty damn DUMB in matters that count, and appears to be doing much too little to right its own ship. We’d rather wait and see if the politician or oligarch du jour has promised to do it, or people in some government agency have *blocked* promising new approaches.
They need our compliance in order to do these things. Non-compliance does not have to mean violence or anarchy.
It might mean, however, that we’re growing up to become the one’s we’ve been wishing for.
We Always have a Choice
That said, we ~ the collective human population “we”~ are still the Power that makes it all possible; not only the crap that I have described, but amazing new directions that make you *want* to get up each morning to enjoy… not just the final realization, but *the journey* too.
You don’t have to believe me. You must know yourself, which only you can choose to do. I can only suggest to you that the choice, and the journey, when you decide to take it, will be well worth it.
Please enjoy this short video that I produced of Life expressing and co-existing.
youtube
Life is everywhere, in ALL forms of expression. We can learn from ALL life, because a piece of us is being expressed through ALL life that we see and encounter. Doing what they do is as much part of the Natural Order as our actions are. Their cooperative activities and interactions affect the quality of *our* lives, as our toxic, combative interactions with each other affect theirs.
Get Yours Now
Mutually respectful, proactive, constructive balancing cooperation sustains a high quality of life for all Life involved. Competitive, combative, destructive and destablizing activity lowers the quality of life for ALL, even while *some* may thing they’re exempt. There are no “privileged” classes who are exempt from Nature’s Laws.
Even insects appear to know this, but many of humanity’s apparently “brightest minds” (that the masses are encouraged to listen to), don’t have a clue.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Enjoy~
