Dancer!Reader Gets Hurt
CW:kinda angsty, some swearing, blind joke, she/her pronouns, kinda scary(idk tbh)
A/N: You guys voted, so here I am delivering. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did writing it. I feel like Jane Villanueva when I write lol. K bye<3
When you and Matt first met, he made it his mission to protect you at all cost. Whether that be from creepy strangers, the frat boys on campus, or the scary mean girls in your dance class. You had told Matt many horror stories about the “bitches” in your class. They hated you since day one. Something about you being Miss Flynn’s favorite student even though you joined the class later than everyone else. And being the sweet boyfriend he is, he agreed with you.
During a particular week, Miss Flynn had called out sick with the flu, but encouraged the class to continue using the studio as needed.
You guys were gearing up for a new spring showcase coming up in the next few weeks. You were especially ecstatic about your small classical part in the show. It would be your first time dancing solo. And hopefully the requitors in the audience would ask you to come and dance with them once you graduated. All nerves were out in the open. Most of the girls were super proud of you, knowing it’s a tough position to be in, but knew you could handle it and were definitely gonna kill it.
Sydney and Madison thought it was stupid. “That bitch came here in sophomore year and thinks she can just kiss ass to the top. I bet she’s sleeping with the choreographer or something.” It was laughable how the two older girls always thought you had to be sleeping with somebody in the arts department to get your solo. Especially because everyone knew you were so obviously dating the sweet blind law student who always sat in the corner of the studio waiting to walk you back to your dorm.
“Yeah. She’s probably cheating on that blind guy. He wouldn’t even be able to see it coming. Poor guy, he’d be better off with someone like me.” Little did they know, Matt was extremely aware of their weird feelings. The two of them would constantly ask him random questions and be in his personal space. As if you weren't a few feet away, practicing with Miss Flynn in the same room. He always chose to just brush them off and go back to whatever it was he was doing before.
Today was no different. Matt knew your nerves were off the charts, so he volunteered to stay with you the next few days while you practiced extra hours. Unfortunately today, he had been forced to help Foggy study for their upcoming test that was stressing him to hair loss. He sent you a sweet “Sorry about tonight, again. I promise to make it up to you as soon as I can, Rosie. ‘Sad face emoji’ ‘heart emoji’” He was so darn adorable. How could you be mad at him when he acts so sweet?
Practice went great tonight. You had been there for almost 2 hours working with some of the other girls, too. When it was time to go, you decided to hit up the locker rooms to freshen up before going to your dorm. Thankfully, the room was still clean and empty.
The cool water on your muscles felt like absolute heaven on Earth. Your hands gilded across your body slowly and thoughtfully, massaging every area that had been giving you trouble. Once you were done, you wrapped a towel around yourself and walked back to the locker area. The sound of the door opening and closing took you out of your short daze. “Hello?” You craned your neck around the corner when there was no response. You continued drying off and clothing yourself; taking a seat on the bench. Another loud noise echoed off the walls. This time, you stood up grabbing your things and shoving them in your bag as quickly as possible. Trying your best to be quiet, you headed for the door.
Going down each aisle of lockers, no one was seen. You continued closer to the door, grabbing your phone and earbuds as you reached it. Putting one in and dialing your boyfriend’s number, you stayed cautious. Matt had finally picked up the phone with a cheerful “hello.” “Hey Matty. I’m on my way to your dorm. I think someone’s following me.” He perked up on the other side of the phone, immediately hushing a confused Foggy. “Are you okay? Where are you? I’ll meet you there.” You shook your head, walking down the long hallway. “Um. Arts building by the new locker rooms. The ones on the higher floors.”
You took a quick breath before turning around. Nothing. “I’m really scared, Matty. It’s so fucking dark and quiet over here. I heard someone come into the room, but I couldn’t see anyone.” Matt starts haphazardly putting his shoes on, nerves spiking with yours. “Okay. I’m on my way. Just stay on the phone okay. Foggy and I are coming to get you.”
Another loud bang had you quickening your pace. You started to speed up closer to the stairs, holding your phone and bag close to your body. “Okay. Just hurry cause I think they- ahhhh.” “Y/n. Hello? Y/n”
A/N: Did I spook you guys? Are you guys mad at the cliffhanger? Are you biting your nails off? Well don't! Cause I did write a part 2 that you will be getting soon. hehehehe I deadass was writing this shit like I was A from Pretty Little Liars. Like I literally was giggling my ass off so hard. But I was also low-key scared cause I always put myself in my reader's shoes in my mind(if that makes sense), so I literally was paranoid as hell. Anyways, tell me your guys' thoughts. I hope you liked it

It’s outside EZ’s bar that Bottles has you. There’s a secluded space around the back, shaded from the road and the patrons inside. The stars twinkle overhead and the music spills from the open windows. He pins you against the exterior wall, his face buried in the curve of your throat as his teeth graze that deviant little spot just underneath the hinge of your jaw.
You’ve been teasing him all night. The flutter of your dress as you drift past him, your hand brushing over his when you pass him a beer, the swell of your body against him when you squeeze past. You don’t usually bartend for EZ and Jo, but it’s a busy night and their regular has called in sick. You used to work as a mixologist back in college and he sees you still have it down to an art form.
The two of you have been seeing each for a few weeks, keeping it under the radar while some of the other charters are in town. There’s a couple of guys that like to make trouble for the prospects and he doesn’t want you to get caught up in that. One of them had made a grab for Nestor’s girl last week when she was passing through and it had resulted in her beating the shit out of him.
El Cuchillo, may be retired but she still commanded respect. He had seen Bishop give her the nod after the first punch had shattered Lobo’s nose. It didn’t need to get as bloody as it did, but Bishop had wanted to prove a point to their visitors. Bottles isn’t taking a chance with you.
“Is this what you need sweet girl?” His breath ghosts in your ear as he eases his fingers inside of you, crooking them just slightly. You’re tight, you hug his digits as he begins to move them in a slow, teasing tempo. The pitch of your breathing changes and he knows he’s hitting just the right spot. His thumb traces over your clit and your hips buck, taking him even deeper. “Or is it this?”
“Fuck.” You utter, your hands slipping underneath his kutte and tangling in the material of his plaid shirt, tugging him closer.
“I hear you.” He whispers against the corner of your mouth. “But not until we get home.”
He feels your expression change and he smiles because he kinda likes it when you’re a little bit bratty. His free hand comes up to clasp your cheek, his thumb trailing over the shape of your lips before he pushes it between them.
“So pretty when you pout.” He tells you as he presses down firmly on your clit.
You moan around his thumb as he picks up the pace, your skin flushing that pretty shade of pink he loves so much. He chases the symphony of your body, the way your muscles tense, the sounds you make. You come hard on his fingers, biting down on his thumb and it is the sexiest fucking thing he has ever seen.
“I can’t wait to get you back home.” He tells you as he pulls his thumb out of your mouth with a wet pop. “I’m going to ruin you all over again.”

A Lark Among the Wolves and Dragons: Chapter 7
Tumblr media
Chapter 6
-----------Kaer Morhen--------------
"Ready?" you ask Ciri, wooden sword in hand. "Whenever you are," Ciri answers, light on her feet, eager to get this sparing session underway.
In the last several weeks, since that day when you discovered Geralt's secret kink, you had asked him to teach you how to use a sword. You've always kept a knife or dagger on your person before as a precaution as being a woman traveling mostly by yourself wasn't all that safe in this world, but now you wanted to really learn the art of sword fighting so to better defend yourself should the day come.
Geralt had initially found this odd, given you were more of a pacifist, but he nodded and agreed to teach you alongside Ciri, who was already advancing well into her training.
You currently took a stance, ready to spar with the young girl. You have yet to beat Ciri in a sparring match, but this time you had feeling today was the day. You check to make sure the wrappings around your chest were still secure (you're still breastfeeding and it's not the most comfortable feeling to have them move about all over the place when you're spinning and sword swinging).
Eskel, Coen, and Lambert stood at the sidelines as spectators along with Vesemir, who was holding Aemma in his arms and keeping her company (something the old man would've enjoyed a little more if your daughter wasn't  so keen on pulling his mustache every five seconds or so).
Geralt stood by waiting to give the signal as you and Ciri make stances and touch swords. On the witcher's signal, the two of you clash wooden swords.
"Five crowns on Ciri," Lambert whispers to Coen. "I'll take that bet," Coen whispers back. "I double that bet on (y/n)," Eskel joins in on the conversation. "Pfft, (y/n) has yet to beat the Ciri in a fight," Lambert fights, "the girl can fight circles around her." "Then you have nothing to worry about," Eskel shrugs.
You continue clashing swords with Ciri, mimicking the turns and pirouettes Geralt has been showing you. Ciri had age and speed working in her favor (along with the fact she's never had a baby), and of course she's been training longer than you were. But, you noticed the young girl has been getting a little cocky today, almost certain victory was hers like it has been dozens of other sparring matches with you.
Maybe you could use that to your advantage.
You back away, feigning like you were about to yield and accept defeat from the girl once more. Ciri lunged towards you, ready to finish the match. You notice the way her feet were positioned; a sloppy mistake made as a result of her cockiness. You quickly spin around and trip Ciri, causing her to fall over.
She quickly grabs her sword and still parries your sword from the ground. You keep swinging, even though Ciri said she yielded, but you didn't listen as you start to experience flashbacks from your previous life in Westeros, back to the day of the tourney.
"(y/n), she yields," Geralt calls out. The other witchers exchange looks, wondering what was going on with you.
"(y/n)! That's enough!" Geralt exclaims, but still you don't listen.
Him and Eskel run to pull you away from Ciri.
You were panting and sweating, barely aware of your surroundings as Geralt tried to shake you back to reality, calling your name.
You were fully brought back the moment you heard your daughter crying in distress.
"Huh? What?" you shake your head.
"The fuck is wrong with you, woman?!" you hear Lambert's voice, "you almost killed the girl!"
"What?" you look to see Ciri was still laying on the ground, Coen helping her back to her feet. You also look to see Aemma was crying, Vesemir doing his best to comfort her, carrying her away from the scene.
Your eyes widen in horror, realizing what you have done. You drop the sword in your hand, feeling sick to your stomach. You turn and run back to the keep.
---------Flashback: King's Landing---------------
 "I don't believe I've yet expressed my congratulations for being named heir, princess," you say as you tune your lute.
It had been nearly a month and a half since Daemon had left for Dragonstone, since you broke off your relationship with the prince. Since then, you've kept yourself occupied entertaining Rhaenyra and composing more songs to get over your heartbreak. It hadn't been easy, but you knew it had to be done for the sake of your mental well-being.
From what you heard, though, Daemon had taken someone else with him in your place; probably Mysaria, you figured. It was no surprise as he had still been seeing her even though you made him promise not to when you and him were still together. You never said anything; he was a man after all and one who was used to doing what he wanted and no one else would challenge him. This was already apparent by the fact that Daemon's been occupying Dragonstone this whole time, even though Viserys had ordered him to Runestone to be with his wife, and the king had yet to do or even say anything about it.
 "It must be a high honor to receive such a title," you continue speaking to the princess. "I suppose it is," Rhaenyra admits, her mind seeming to be in another place. "For what it's worth, princess, I think you'll make a good Queen," you say, meaning it. Rhaenyra is the Realm's Delight after, all, and even though she is a woman, you believe people would come to accept her as their leader.
"I sense this is not on your mind right now, your Grace," you say, bringing the girl's attention back to reality. "Oh, forgive me," the princess speaks, "I uh, I was thinking about my mother. I miss her dearly." "I understand," you nod, "as someone who's lost a mother before, it took months, years I dare say to get over her loss." "How did you do it?" Rhaenyra asks. "I honestly wasn't able to come to terms with losing her until years later," you admit, "my, uh, father had his own way of grieving her loss, one that placed me in a position where I had to put aside my own grief and take up many of his responsibilities. And when I was able to properly mourn, I just had to stare into the void and scream my heart out...and compose a number of songs to further process my loss. It gets easier princess, with time...never easy, but eventually, you'll be able to come to terms with it as well."
"Why didn't you leave with my uncle?" Rhaenyra asked you, changing the subject. "...My place is here with you, princess," you decide to tell her, "you're the reason I am here in the first place, it wouldn't have been right to leave my station, especially given your recent, uh, loss."
Rhaenyra wasn't completely convinced by that answer, but accepted it nonetheless.
"I'm not so sure I want to be queen," the princess admits, "up until this moment, I never even considered that would be a possibility for me. Up until now, all I wanted was to just ride on Syrax, travel to far off lands, and eat cake."
You chuckle a little at that, seeing how this statement made you realize how young she still was.
"Yes, I too would like to travel to parts unknown and eat cake," you joke, "oh wait, I've already done that."
Rhaenyra laughed at that, "I should like to travel to this Continent from your songs," she says, "see the things you've seen, meet the people you have. I should like to meet this white hair witcher you've spoke so highly of, or this warrior Queen, the Lioness of Cintra. I'd like to see these elves, dwarves, and dryads from your ballads, learn to swing a sword, or learn how to use magic and become a sorceress like the one from your songs."
"Unfortunately, princess, one must be born with the natural ability to use magic," you tell her, "however, anyone can learn to use a sword."
"Can you use a sword?" Rhaenyra asks. "Not a sword," you admit, "but I have some skill in using a knife or dagger. I consider myself a pacifist, princess, but that doesn't mean I don't want to defend myself. This world can be a scary place for a lone woman, anything can happen to people like us." "Well, then I will consider myself most fortunate to have a dragon by side," Rhaenyra says.
In the midst of your conversation, Ser Harrold Westerling approaches you and the princess, "my princess," he greets, "the king has requested your presence." Rhaenyra gave you a strange look before answering the knight, "did he say why?" "It is best that you see for yourself, princess," Harrold answers crypitcally.
Rhaenyra nods and allows the man to escort her to the small council chambers. Rhaenyra walks inside, but Harrold stops you, "I'm afraid this meeting is not for troubadours." You nod and turn, pretending to walk away but actually went through a secret entrance to listen in on the meeting; it was a special passage into the small council room that you remembered Daemon showing you once.
You look through the slats of a screen you were hiding behind. You see the small council with Grand Maester Mellos, Lord Lyonel Strong, Otto Hightower, and of course the king with Rhaenyra by his side.
At the other side of the table was a man dressed in black and gold with the sun embroidered on his robes. Two soldiers in armor with similar patterns stood by, along with a woman dressed in white and silver.
You recognized the sun insignia to belong to that of Nilfgaard. Your eyes widen even more the moment you recognized the woman to be the mage Fringilla Vigo.
What, you wondered, were Nilfgaardian ambassadors doing all the way in Westeros?
"It is an high honor to be welcomed into your home, your Grace," the Nilfgaardian ambassador begins his speech, "it was a very long journey, and truly you have lived up to your reputation as a kind and generous king. To show our gratitude, please accept this humble gift." The ambassador has a servant approach the princess with a necklace of gold, "a personal gift from His Imperial Majesty, Emhyr Var Emreis."
Rhaenyra looks to her father who nods in approval and the princess accepts the gift, "it is truly exquisite," she says, removing the Valyrian steel necklace her uncle gave her so as to wear this one. It was not quite the same, but she turned to the ambassador and thank him for the gift.
"It is truly a wonderful gift," Viserys speaks, "but I assume you did not come all this way from the Continent to gift us with gold necklaces and flattering words."
"You are right to assume such," Fringilla speaks, "we have also come with an offer. From the emperor himself."
"Forgive me, but who are you exactly?" Otto asks the woman. "Fringilla Vigo," the mage answers, "I serve His Imperial Majesty as both his court mage and his confidante. You can rest assure my words are his."
"You are a sorceress," Rhaenyra says impressed, "I've heard much of your sort. Can you give us a demonstration?"
Lyonel, Mellos, and Otto exchange looks, a little skeptical. "I'll be glad to, princess," Fringilla says, standing and approaching the young woman. The mage mutters an incantation in Elder speech and in her hands a glass figurine of a dragon appears in her hands, "for you. Consider it another gift."
"How are we to know this is magic you possess?" Otto scoffs, "for all we know this...charlatan could have kept this little figurine in her sleeves this whole time."
Fringilla only made a threatening smile and turned to the Hand, "if you doubt the authenticity of my talents, my lord, perhaps you would like further proof if I turn you into a toad."
Otto glares back at the mage, ready to call her bluff, but on the chance that she was serious about this little threat, he relents, "that...won't be necessary."
"I'm glad you agree," Fringilla smiles again in victory.
"I believe you wished to give us an offer on behalf of your emperor," Viserys speaks, bringing the conversation back.
"Of course," Fringilla speaks, "the Emperor wishes to propose a marriage. Himself to your daughter, the princess Rhaenyra."
Rhaenyra's eyes widen a bit, your eyes widening also from where you were hiding. "I think it a fair arrangement," the mage speaks, "in the last years since I've been brought to serve His Imperial Majesty, Nilfgaard has prospered. We have access to new resources in food, metal, wood, and many other things that could benefit this realm. Should you accept, the princess will be crowned Empress of Nilfgaard and her children will bear claim to Nilfgaard's throne."
"An Empress of a foreign land along with the title Heir Iron Throne...a very generous prospect indeed," Maester Mellos speaks.
"And what resources, pray tell, would the Emperor of Nilfgaard wish to trade with us in return?" Otto asks.
Before either the sorceress or the ambassador could answer, you feel your stomach turn and retch in response, which caught the attention of the small council.
You stay still, in hopes no one would come investigate.
Said hopes were dashed when Fringilla muttered another incantation that dissolved the screen.
You stare at the audience with an awkward smile on your face, "Must've been something I ate," you joke.
Otto gets up and yanks you from your spot by the hair, dragging you to the table.
"Hey! Let go! Let go!" you demand.
"Looks like we have a rat in the walls," Otto sneers, "Have you come to spy on the king?" "Get your fucking hands off me!!!" you bite Otto's hand, causing him to release you.
"(y/n)?" Rhaenyra rushes over to your side, "what are you doing here?" "Forgive me, princess, I did not mean to snoop," you tell her, wiping your mouth, "I saw the emblems of your guests and recognized them to be Nilfgaardian."
Fringilla stood and stared at you, almost like she had seen you before.
"I know you," she speaks to you, "the bardess from the Continent. The White Wolf's Lark."  "I've heard of you too," the Nilfgaardian ambassador quips in, "(y/n). My wife is a big fan of your work. The Song of the White Wolf is her particular favorite."
You notice the way Viserys and the small council looked at you.
"Yes, that, uh, that's me," you shyly admit. "No relation to the Bard who's written ballads of the same famous White Wolf, is there?" "Uh, he's....he's my brother," you tell the mage, "singing and a penchant for writing seems to run in the family."
"You must be Fringilla Vigo," you speak to the mage, "I've heard of you. I'm friends with your colleague, Yennefer of Vengerberg."
Fringilla had a certain look on her face at the mention of that name, "if you do happen to come across her again, tell her I send my regards...and to thank her."
"I'll be sure to do that," you say.
"If I may interrupt," Otto says, "We had more pressing matters to discuss."
"Ah yes, a marriage proposal between the princess of Dragonstone and the emperor of Nilfgaard," you say, "it is a rather unique proposal," you turn to Fringilla, "I'm a little surprised Emhyr Var Emreis didn't look some place closer to home; any of the Northern realms on the Continent would've sufficed. Temeria, Kaedwen, Redania...Cintra perhaps. Or maybe further down south? Last I heard, the Duke of Toussaint had two eligible daughters that are close to marrying age."
You lean closer to Fringilla and speak in the elvish language, "of course none of those places boast a possession of dragons. Dragons that could be used in Nilfgaard's favor in times of war."
Fringilla stares at you, standing up to address you in the same language, "a bold accusation for one who doesn't even know of the treasure she currently carries."
You raised an eyebrow, confused by that statement.
"Can we please talk in a language we can all understand?" Otto exasperates.
"This offer to unite the two realms is quite generous, that much I'll admit," Viserys speaks, looking to his daughter who had a certain look on her face, "however, it is one we will have to talk over. We will take this proposal into consideration."
Nodding, Fringilla and the ambassador up and exit the small council chambers.
You attempt to sneak away, hoping to avoid some kind of reprimand from Otto or the king. "Not you," Viserys speaks, getting your attention, "you stay."
You sigh and stand by the table, "father, surely you don't mean-" "I would," Viserys admits to his daughter, "as this is highly irregular. However, I believe as a Continental her input would be most useful."
You give the king a confused look, "what can you tell me about this emperor? This Emhyr Var Emreis?"
You were still confused, but grateful you weren't going to face some kind of discipline, "Regretfully, your Grace, I know very little about this man," you tell him, "In fact, very few on the Continent, outside his inner circle, know anything about him. His predecessor, the late king, had a certain reputation for drinking and whoring while his subjects starved and threw riots on the streets. The king was disposed and a usurper took his place. Emhyr apparently had fled as a child and then returned to take back his throne and turn Nilfgaard into an empire."
"So he means to start a conquest it seems," Lyonel speaks, "and what better way to do so then with an army of dragons by his side."
"Do you think this to be the case, (y/n)?" Rhaenyra asks you. "...I would not be so quick to discard that motive as a possibility, princess," you honestly tell her, "and if Nilfgaard means to start a war with the northern realms, I predict those kingdoms will send envoys with similar proposals so as to secure an alliance with House Targaryen."
"Excuse me, father," Rhaenyra takes you by the arm and escorts you out of the chambers, "if what you say is true, I should like to learn more about these kingdoms," she tells you, "will you indulge me?" "I'll be happy to, princess."
-----------end of flashback: Kaer Morhen----------------
"Do you want to talk about it?" you hear Geralt ask as he leans by the door way.
You were in the bathtub, back facing the witcher, relishing in the hot, steaming water.
You weren't sure what to say as you were still reeling from the events earlier today when you almost pummeled Ciri to the ground.
You weren't sure what came over yourself. You've never lost control like that before, but the moment you had Ciri down, all you thought about when you would have to use those sword skills. You had started to imagine yourself fighting off Aemma's father, what it would be like if he came to Kaer Morhen on his dragon only to drag both you and your daughter back to the one place you did not want to go back anytime soon.
"Is...how's Ciri doing?" you decide to ask, pulling your knees close to your chest. "A few bruises here and there, but she'll live," Geralt assures, "it's nothing she hasn't had before."
"Oh gods, what have I done?" you groan, resting your head against your knees, tears welling up from the guilt of almost causing the poor girl grave harm, "Geralt, I am so sorry. I don't know what came over me. I wouldn't blame Ciri if she didn't forgive me for this."
"Ciri was little miffed at first," Geralt says, leaning behind the tub and grabbing a wet rag to wash your back, "but she's come to understand. She's already forgiven you."
"I don't deserve it," you sniffle, "I almost killed her."
"No you didn't," Geralt assures, "not with a wooden sword that is."
"But I could've if we were using different weapons." "Hey," Geralt scolds, "quite beating yourself up over this. It happened, no one got hurt, it's all in the past, now we need to move on."
You sigh as Geralt rinses out the rag. You feel the witcher place a kiss on your bare shoulder, "Geralt," you say, "if something happened to me or Aemma...if someone tried to take us away from Kaer Morhen, you would stop them, right?"
"Like Aemma's father you mean?" Geralt says to which you lightly nod, "if he tries to take you away to place you don't want to go, I'll do everything in my power to stop him."
You turn around in the tub, taking Geralt's hand in yours, "thank you."

Tumblr media
It was Jake’s one day off this week. This whole week was long; hops, classes, and paperwork piled up. But thankfully, today was the day he could spend with his daughter. Jolene was growing up so fast; it was hard to believe that she was about to celebrate her 5th birthday and go off to kindergarten. He didn’t want to think about that, but he did. He thought about his daughter going off and joining school. All the friends she would make, and how much she would learn. He couldn’t wait to see all the art projects, and yet, he was terrified. What if she didn’t like school? What if she got sick or hurt? What if she got sick or hurt and he was in the air or on a mission and he couldn’t get to her? All the what ifs ran through his mind, but was only brought out of it by his princess stopping in front of him. She held her favorite running around shoes in her tiny hands and put them up to Jake’s reach.
“Daddy, can you hewp pwease?” She asked, sweetly smiling up at him. He was so proud of his little girl. She always made sure to use her manners, and ask for things nicely. He couldn’t believe that he was raising a tiny human that would soon go forth into the world.
“Of course princess. Come here.” Jake knelt down, and propped her shoes up on his knee. He laced them up quietly as he observed his girl’s choice of outfit. She was in her pretty dresses phase; she always wanted to be wearing a pretty dress. But she made sure she was wearing a set of shorts underneath, which pleased Jake. She was really smart and aware for being four years old.
It felt like yesterday he was getting her on a plane to fly her out to California. So much had happened in that time that Jake couldn’t even wrap his head around. The Dagger team got stationed together in Fightertown. Apparently the Navy didn’t want to split up the team made of the best of the best. They occasionally had small missions away from Fightertown, but that was their home base. Maverick and Bob had been the two that would watch Jolene when he was in the air or had to stay late with paperwork, but he tried to take paperwork home. Phoenix made sure to teach her things that only a woman could, which Jake was thankful for. She also taught him how to do different hairstyles and how to get better at them.
Coyote, Fanboy, Payback, and Rooster were the fun uncles. The kind that would pick her up from school and take her for ice cream just because it was a Tuesday. Their little dysfunctional team has really helped Jake adjust to his life as a single father. He never imagined himself in that position but he couldn’t be happier to be one. Right now, he was getting his little lady ready for a day at the park. The schedule was simple. Go to the park and stay there for a few hours. Go get some lunch out at their favorite pizza parlor which also happened to sell their favorite gelato. And end the day at Uncle Bob’s house because Bob’s sister and niece and nephews were in town. A simple and easy day for them before he had to go back to work for a few days.
On the way to the park, Jake threw on some country hits that his daughter had fallen in love with. She just simply couldn’t have a good day unless she heard Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton. She defiantly was his daughter. They belted out tunes, while Jake periodically sipped his coffee. One of his favorite liberties of being in the civilian world was the coffee. He had so many more options than he did on the bases. The park came into view and he could feel Jolene get excited.
“Alright, alright darlin’. Calm down just a minute. You’re jumpin’ like a dog. I can’t get you out if you don’t stop that wigglin’.” Jake tried to get out but he kept laughing. Jolene was so excited to go that she was making it take longer to get out of the truck.
“Come on daddy!! Let’s go!” Jolene exclaimed as she finally made it out of the truck. He only laughed and made her wait as he got the bag from the other side of the back seat. When the doors were finally closed, father and daughter walked hand in hand towards the park. Jake found a spot on a bench where he could see the majority of the park’s play equipment. He could see through some of the equipment which definitely helped when it came to keeping an eye on his surroundings. He made Jolene applied an adequate amount of sunscreen before letting her go play.
“Stay within my line of vision please baby girl. If you can’t see me, daddy can’t see you. Now go have fun okay? I’ll come join you in a bit.” Jake pressed a kiss to her cheek and let her go run around. The late morning air felt wonderful. July was a really nice time of year in California and the breeze that accompanied the morning added to his relaxation. With aviators on, Jake pulled a book out of the bag he packed and began to read. Every few words, he’d look up to check on Jolene, but she always stayed where he could see her. His coffee was sitting comfortably next to him as he simply enjoyed the day that he had. While his job made it a bit difficult sometimes to be a father, much less a single one, they made it work.
Jolene was very understanding that her daddy was going to be gone for long stretches of time occasionally. And for that he was thankful. But he’ll never forget the first deployment he had with Jolene.
~
“Baby, I gotta go okay? But Auntie Phoenix is gonna take real good care of you.” Jake said, holding Jolene who had tears in her eyes. This was the first time Jake was going to be gone for longer than a couple days.
“But…b-b-but daddy. You gonna come ba-ack right?” She asked while her voice got choked up with a sob. Jake felt his heart break and he pulled his daughter into his arms. Phoenix was behind them, standing in her threshold of her on base apartment. She specifically cleared out her guest room for the little girl. She watched the heart touching scene, feeling her own heart break at the little girl.
“I’m gonna come right back baby girl, okay. But I need you to stay with Auntie Phoenix for me please. I’ll be back before you know it. But daddy needs to go, okay? Daddy has to go.” As Jake started to pull away from his little girl, she started sobbing. Full on, heart wrenching, sobbing. She kept crying out for Jake and he had to force himself away from her. Natasha came up behind Jolene and picked her up while she kept reaching out for her daddy. Jake felt tears come to his eyes while Natasha turned Jolene to sob into her neck instead.
“I’ll send you pictures and updates. Go Hangman.” She said, delivering a pat on the arm to him. Jake leaned over and kissed his daughters head. She turned as quick as lightning to wrap her arms around Jake. The three of them stood there for a minute before Jake let go once more.
“Auntie Phoe is gonna take good care of you. I love you Jolene.” And with that he left his daughter in the arms of the woman he trusted most, besides his own family. Jake hopped into his truck, and took one last look at the girl he was leaving behind. Natasha lived on the ground floor, which made it easy for her to get into her home after long training days when she was sore and bruised. Phoenix waved goodbye to Hangman and went inside to quell the distraught girl she held in her arms.
Jake left for a three month deployment afterwards and it was torture for him. One of the things that made him be able to go to sleep at night was being able to go into his daughter’s room and make sure she was okay. But the updates from Natasha made the deployment better. Once he had been so lucky as to have enough cell service to have a video chat with the girls. Jolene was so happy to be able to hear Jake’s voice again, and the next day Phoenix said that was the best night’s sleep the girl had gotten in six weeks.
When he got home six weeks later, Jolene refused to let go of him. She held him tight when he came to pick her up, and only let go to drive back to their house. But when they got out of the truck, well, Jake had to carry his bags and Jolene when he entered the house. She held him while they ate dinner, and would start getting hysterical when he let go of her to put her down for sleep. He finally conceded and allowed her to sleep with him that first night back.
That had been almost two years ago and he had another three month deployment coming up shortly after Christmas. He wouldn’t be home for New Years, but at least he’d be home in time for her birthday in May. Hopefully this time would be easier than last deployment.
~
“Daddy!” Jake started running. His fatherly instinct simply taking over when he heard his daughter’s scream. He abandoned his book, drink, and bag. None of that mattered as he located his daughter with someone else near her. A boy who was laying down. As soon as he got over, Jolene let out a sigh of relief.
“Jo. What happened?” He asked kneeling down next to his daughter and the mystery boy.
“Well, um, me and Mike were playing and he missed his jump, and hit his head. Then he laid down and he keeps saying that he’s dizzy. I didn’t know what to do.” Jolene was scared about what happened to her new friend.
“Okay,” he responded before leaning over the boy, “Mike? Mike? Hey buddy can you see me? My name is Jake. I’m Jolene’s dad, and I’m also in the navy. Can I help you please?” He asked, keeping his voice soft and his words simple. He saw the boy open his eyes and nod, noticing the dazed look in the boys eyes.
“Okay bud. I’m just gonna check your head really quick okay? I just need to touch your head so I can make sure you don’t have a boo boo.” Mike nodded, and Jake placed his hands on the boys head. He found nothing at first, and then he felt his head get wet. When he pulled away, he noticed blood on his hands. Jolene gasped and turned away from the sight and that’s when Jake heard it.
“Mike? Mikey? Michael! Are you okay? Oh God.” She exclaimed loudly as she neared the trio. Jake looked up and saw her. A gorgeous young woman was coming near them.
“Is he okay? Mikey? Mike!” She pleaded that her son look at her but Jake gently pulled her hands away from his head.
“Miss, miss! Hey, I’m trained in first aid. I’m trying to help Mike but I need you to back up just a little bit.” By now a crowd has formed around the small group, which was exactly what Jake didn’t need right now. He felt around the back of the boy’s head yet again, trying to gage how big the cut is but he couldn’t be certain. It felt small but it could be big.
“Mike, I need you to open your eyes buddy. I need you to look at me.” The young boy opened his eyes with much struggle and Jake started his tests.
“Okay bud. I need you to follow my finger and answer some questions okay? Can you do that for me bud?” Jake asked; the boy still laying down.
“Otay.” He said quietly.
“Okay so just follow my finger,” and the boy trained his eye on the digit, “what’s your name?” The finger moved up and down.
“Michael Jones, sir.” He followed the finger.
“Okay, how old are you Michael?” The finger moved side to side.
“Um… four. I turn five soon.” Diligently, he followed the finger. Jake turned to the woman who was over his shoulder and she nodded, confirming the information.
“Okay little man, one more question. Do you know where you are?” Jake stopped moving his finger and pulled the child’s lids open gently. When he didn’t see any obvious signs of distress, he stopped and let the boy rest.
“Sun… sun glow park. My mommy’s here. Where’s my mommy?” He asked starting to get up and look around. The woman from beside him sprung forward.
“I’m right here baby. Are you okay?” She asked getting closer to her son and gently helping to raise him up. Jake gingerly helped her son up while double checking to make sure Jolene was still there and okay.
“I’m otay mommy. My head hurts.” Jake used this opportunity to take a better look at the back of his head. The cut was small, but head wounds bleed.
“Hey,” Jake grabbed the woman’s attention, “I have a first aid kit in my truck. Would you mind if I patched him up? I don’t see any signs of a concussion or any serious trauma so I think he just hit his head.” She nodded and picked her son up who clung to his mother. Jake dispersed the crowd that had gathered saying that the boy was just fine and it was nothing serious. Jake walked his daughter, and the mother and son over to his truck, stopping to pick up his items really quick. He threw that stuff in the back seat before moving to the truck bed and popped it. He saw the bright red bag and placed the boy on the edge and began to put a bandage over the cut.
“I know little man. I’m sorry.” Jake said after Mike hissed as the alcohol cleaned the blood away. Thankfully the bandage went on without a hitch.
“There you go little man. All patched up. Just gotta watch that noggin’ of yours better next time, mkay?” Jake asked, his voice lighter. Mike nodded eagerly but soon stopped as the area he cut became sore.
“Thank you,” his mother spoke up, “seriously. I’m really glad you were there. I don’t know what I’d do if something worse had happened or if you hadn’t been there mister…” she trailed off waiting for a name.
“Jake Seresin, naval aviator, ma’am.” She smiled at him, and gave him her name in return.
“And this is Mike, if you haven’t guessed. Is she yours?” The mother pointed to Jake’s daughter who stood slightly behind her father. Her red hair and green eyes were vibrant as ever. Jake placed and arm around her and pulled her in towards him.
“Yeah, this is Jolene. My baby girl. She’s actually the same age as Mike there.” Jake let go of Jolene who went to Mike immediately, while his mother stepped closer to Jake.
“I really do appreciate it. Mikey is my pride and joy and I was terrified when I saw him on the ground. How can I repay you?” She asked,looking straight into Jake’s eyes. Jake began to protest when he heard Jolene and Michael giggle to each other. Both parents looked over at their kids with smiles.
“What’s so funny, Red?” Jake asked of his daughter, which caused her to start laughing more.
“You like Miss. Jones. Just bring her to lunch with us.” Jake was stunned, as was Mike’s mother. And then, Jolene turned back to her conversation with Mike like nothing happened.
“Um, you’re totally okay to say no but would you like to come have lunch with us? We’re just going to D’Antonio’s around the corner if you’d like to join us. Seems the kids like each other.” Jake offered, suddenly feeling his neck heat up with a blush he hadn’t felt in a long time. Mike’s mother smiled at Jake.
“Yeah, I’d like that. It’ll at least give me an opportunity to pay you back for helping Mikey.” She said shyly, while looking to the kids.
“My momma would have my head if I let a woman pay for a meal in my presence. I’ll treat y’all to lunch.” Jake walked them back to their car, and then walked with Jolene back to his truck. They arrived at the restaurant, and got a table going while waiting on the mother and son duo. He saw them come through and stood up to pull her chair out.
“Wow. Southern gentleman.” She said with a hand over her heart, as she sat in her chair. Jake chuckled as their kids settled into the seats near their parents.
“You can thank my mom. She insisted on raising me proper.” He stated with a soft smile on his face. She returned his smile, and they helped the kids order. It felt very soft, and domestic. Something Jake wasn’t use to.
“So a naval aviator, huh? How’d you get into that?” She asked, setting Mike and Jolene up with some crayons and paper. Jake found it odd that she pulled it out of her bag that she had, but maybe it was because she had a young artist on her hands.
“Yes ma’am. It’s the best job in the world. And I get time with Jo so it’s a win win. What about you?” He asked politely, while the children were paying no attention to their adults.
“Oh I’m a teacher. I’m a military brat so I get the stress of the job. That’s actually why I’m a teacher. Some of my fondest memories on bases growing up were my teachers.” The young mother shyly explained. But Jake loved to hear her talk.
“Where- um what do you teach? Sorry you don’t have to tell me where you teach.” He had no clue why this woman was throwing his off his game. Normally, before Jolene came around, he was chasing skirts all over the place. It wasn’t a matter of if Jake Seresin was going home with someone, but who. But now this mother who happened to be a teacher was causing him to stumble over his words.
“I’m a second grade teacher on the nearby navy base. My dad was navy and we needed a change of scenery.” Right then, the pizza arrived and the parents dished out for their kids first. Jake made sure Jolene kept her napkin in her lap, while Mike’s mom made sure he chewed thoroughly.
“So where you do you work Jake? Being a naval aviator and all.” She questioned, and began to dig into her pizza.
“Well I uh- I actually also work at the nearby naval base. That’s where my team is stationed.” Jake explained; she listened eagerly. They continued to talk all through the afternoon, periodically breaking away to interact with their children. The more they talked, the more the two found that they loved talking with each other. She was impressed by this bachelor turned single father, working through all the trials and tribulations that he has to have his daughter.
“If it’s not too forward of me, where is Mikey’s father?” Her smile dropped, as did Jake’s.
“I’m sorry. That was too forward. Um.. how did you get into teaching?” Jake very quickly tried to change the subject. They young mother held a small smile as she shook her head.
“No, no. You’re fine. You told me about Jolene’s mom so it’s only fair. Umm…” she trailed of, looking over at Mike and Jolene. They were actively engaged in a very competitive game of Tic-Tac-Toe.
“It’s actually very similar to your situation I guess. I told his father I was pregnant, and he didn’t believe it was his. He accused me of cheating on him and he left. Come to find out he was cheating on me, and I think he’s now married to the mistress he knocked up. We divorced shortly after he left.” The calm way she explained everything made Jake’s heart ache. It was like she was use to it. Her smile had fallen by now and tears started to well up in her eyes. Jake reached across the table and placed his hand on top of hers. He saw her smile return and it made him feel better. The dad smiled back at her before he glanced down at his watch.
“Oh crap!” He exclaimed, grabbing Jolene’s attention.
“What is it daddy?” The young girl asked, pulling away from her games.
“We need to be gettin’ to Uncle Bob’s baby. You remember his niece and nephews are coming over. We need to get goin’ so we ain’t late baby girl.” Jolene started to pout, not wanting to leave her new friend but they already made the plans to go over.
“And Mikey isn’t there something that we need to go do before it closes?” His mother pointed at her watch.
“Library!” He exclaimed proudly. The adult smiled at his eagerness, and they began to get ready to leave.
“Jake, let me pay please. A thank you for taking care of Mikey today. Just give me the check.” She begged reaching out to take the piece of paper from the man. He yanked his hand back with a chuckle at her insistence.
“No. You ain’t payin’ for lunch on my watch,” she deflated at his words, “tell ya what, you can get next time.” She perked back up.
“Next time?” She asked hopefully. Jake smiled charmingly at her.
“Maybe next time could be dinner?” The look on her face was a mix of impressed, shock, and something Jake couldn’t quite pinpoint.
“What makes you think there’s going to be a dinner next time? Kind of sounds like a date Lieutenant.” She teased, and Jake smirked at her.
“Call it a gut feeling accompanied with your number.” Pure shock took over her face. She started to laugh, and Jake joined her.
“Alright. That was good. Give me your phone.” And they exchanged phone numbers. Jake paid the bill and the group left the restaurant. Jake walked Mike and his mother to their car. She helped her son into his seat and stood next to the driver’s side of the car.
“Thanks for today Jake. We had a great time.” She said, opening her car door.
“You’re welcome. I’m glad I could help out little man over there. And his momma isn’t too bad either.” Jake’s lip was caught between his teeth as he smiled at her.
“Well, this momma needs to get her boy to the library to check out our weekly books before they close. And you need to get your baby girl to her uncle’s house.” She said calmly and gently. She was just about to get into her car, when she stopped, and turned back to Jake. She reached up and pressed a kiss to his cheek. The laugh she let out at his blushing face triggered his own laugh and he began to take Jolene back to the truck. When they finally piled in, and buckled up, Jolene got her dad’s attention.
“Daddy, is Ms. Jones going to be my mommy?” She asked which startled Jake. He looked back at his daughter before turning back to the road, continuing on his way to Bob’s house.
“No baby. She’s just a friend, okay? Just a very good friend.” He continued to drive and enjoyed the peaceful drive till his daughter piped up again.
"Friends like you and uncle Cy, or friends like auntie Phoenix and uncle Chicken? Cause auntie Phoe and uncle Chicken sometimes have sleepovers when I stay there and they always smile at each other and touch each other."
"Wait what?!"

Here is my EXPERIMENTAL version
Title: Ma'am
my mirror to "Girl" from Jamaica Kincaid
from Richard Murray < RichardMurrayHumblr>
Did anyone know why god needed Whites? Did anyone know why Whites can't hang to dry too? Didn't Nana walk bareheaded all the time when she raised you? Why you didn't warn me about the oil popping, the first time? Why you didn't tell me how little cloths get red? Why couldn't you help me buy cotton for any blouse I made myself? Why you made me cook salt fish every weekend? You never talked to your mother too. Why you never looked at me when we ate? Why you never look up when we walk by the British ladies with the soldiers all around them? Why you didn't come see me in Sunday school? Why you never talk to papa, and he never talk to you? Why couldn't I enjoy fruit with my friends? You think I can't hear you questioning me, like I did Nana, and she her mother? Why were you never patient? Why were you never patient showing me? Why were you never patient showing me anything, and never showed Papa anything from you? Why you always made me iron Papa's clothes? Why you never smiled ironing Papa's clothes? Why was I the one who had to always pick the okra? Why was I the one who always had to fetch the dasheen water? Why couldn't you buy me a new broom? Why couldn't I use your new broom? Why couldn't I use your old broom? Why did you smile like that to me? Why didn't you smile like that to the British? Why didn't you smile like that to Papa? Why we never had tea? Why we never set the dinner table together? Why you didn't let me set the table for my friends like important guest? Why did I always set the table for lunch? Why did I always set the table for breakfast? Why did you never tell me how you knew so much about slut prevention? How did you wash in Nana's house far from the river while working cane? Why did you never play games with me? Why did you never pick wild flowers? why was you comfortable when the black birds settled on a neighbors house? Why did neighbors only talk about my bread pudding? Why did neighbors never talk about your Doukona? Why didn't you make pepper pot, Papa's favorite dish, for his birthday? Why you never gave me your good medicine when I was sick? Why you didn't tell me how you mastered medicine to throw away children? Why couldn't we join our fish in a bucket? Why did you always tell me to throw back most of my fish? Why you treated Papa that way? Why you let Uncle treat you that way? Why you never told me why you don't smile at Papa, or laugh with him, or hold his hand? Why you never felt like spitting upon the air around me? why did our ends never meet? Why did you never let me squeeze bread around you? I never needed your help So after telling me what to do all the time, you never wanted me to do anything?

My biggest takeaway. How important using various styles of writing is to approach characters or relationships in a world. My original intent was to create screenplays for everything on Tumblr, but at the end of the day, that was unfeasible. Certain relationships , stories, are told better in certain formats. That isn't negative that is advantages of writing genre<poetry/screenplay/prose/ or other> that no writer should feel they need to overcome. It is better to embrace it.
My new insights was through experience. I said to myself last year. In 2023 I will take creative moments like this on Tumblr and use to create a world, or at least begin one. through the four weeks, I created the basis of a larger world.
My writing goals are the same. I still want to finish a book of poetry this year and submit work to be translated. I am closer than meets the eye to both. But next year, I will look at this world I created in this workshop and we will see.
I will submit to OFIC the work in the workshop that receive the highest praise
My Tumblr series -workshop with betts- use to access the prior weeks plus this one again if need be.

15 Questions / 15 People
I was tagged by @fragileizy and @plotbunnypettingzoo !!! Thank you both so much this was a lot of fun!!
1. Are you named after anyone?
In a way!
My mom was a bank teller when she was pregnant with me and had an older man come in who was a regular. He said he’d see my mom in a couple weeks but she said she’d be on maternity leave. He asked what she was having and she told him a girl. He said he had a few granddaughters and asked what my name was. My mom was torn between Ashleigh (yes spelled like that) and Laurynn (yes also spelled like that). He said they were beautiful names and mentioned his granddaughters names. One of them was mine and my mom loved it so much she added it to the collection.
When I was born, my mom called my brother and asked him what my name should be. He picked my name!
2. What was the last time you cried?
Last night lol. Being sick has sucked so bad but I’m getting better now!! Hooray!!
3. Do you have kids?
Nope, I can’t have kids. I’m very much content being an aunt to four. I do however refer to my pup as my son so in a way I do.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Not as much as I used too! I don’t really talk much to other people anymore so it’s not something I notice myself doing much these days.
5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
Not sure! Probably their build? Tall, short, wide hips, big boobs, nice legs, what was the question again?
6. What’s your eye color?
Blue! Like a greyish blue with a lil bit of green.
7. Scary movies or happy endings?
A healthy mix of both! I find myself getting way too emotional with regular movies so I prefer a balance of both to keep my sanity. But usually only if the scary movie is well done. I’m more interested in the story and how it’s told than the genre.
8. Any special talents?
Not particularly lol. I’d say probably singing or putting puzzles together quickly.
9. Where were you born?
Luckily! A hospital. I was almost born in my parents red minivan.
10. What are your hobbies?
Doing puzzles, writing, drawing, dancing, singing, daydreaming.
11. Do you have a pet?
I do!! I have a 9 year old mutt named Cody whom I love with all my heart. He’s got anxiety like me and is super friendly but a little skittish around kids. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without him. He’s been with me through most of the bad things in my life up to this point but he’s still a little puppy at heart and everyone he meets loves him.
12. What sports do you play/have played?
As a kid I did tennis a little recreationally, played on my local soccer league team for a couple years, then joined cheer for a few years and loved it. Unfortunately, freshman year I had to quit for personal and health related reasons.
13. How tall are you?
4 foot 11 inches!! I was one of the shortest people at my school but I never let that stop me from being a big problem.
14. Favorite subject in school?
Art! Cheesy as it is. But other than that I’d have to say maybe math? I loved algebra honestly.
15. Dream job?
Furniture assembler. I love putting together pieces of furniture. It’s so therapeutic for me. But other than that probably a comedian! People always say I’m funny and I have some pretty interesting stories I could tell.
I tag: @writerriderdirtythirties @talkstoself @miraculouslymundane @jumpingbeanz @theultracharmingladynoire @biochemandmonsters @piratesandpizza & anyone else who wants to do this fun little game! 💕💕

Twenty-one.
MIND-RACING, HEART THUMPING, ADRENALINE RUSHING...
I blinked three times rapidly in an effort to keep the tears from falling.
I hate this, I hate this, I HATE YOU!
"Not now, Mother," I managed to ground out, "I'm not feeling well." I rushed over to the elevator and pressed the button over and over, as if that would make it come sooner.
"What's the rush, love? If you're not feeling well, come inside and lie down for a bit, and I'll get Mrs. Young to make you some tea or congee."
"I'm busy."
"Well, make sure to join us for dinner this week. You know your presence is required as part of our bargain."
I pressed my lips tightly together in an effort not to scream at her. She was so insufferable--clearly she could see I was suffering, yet she chose to go ahead with what she wanted to say anyway, and throw a little bit of shade in it.
Truly the Mother of the Year.
"Great," was my response. "I'll try."
"You really shouldn't be so nonchalant, you know? What will you do if I decide to give Pete a ring, and ask him if he wants to come meet his daughter for once?"
I whirled around at that, seething.
"You're really going to do this now? Fine, why don't you say it louder--let your precious little daughter know about how you're selling her out to the devil. How can you be such a bitch?"
"What did you say--"
"Irina!"
Rosalie's chirpy voice came from the entrance. I smacked my lips and grinned at my mother.
"Well? Do you want to continue this conversation now, or what?"
Mother's face turned turnip red. Good--she deserved to feel like shit for what she was trying to do. This woman was shameless, but she had a buttload of pride; because I was the same, I knew exactly how to make her writhe. Of course, I also knew I'd regret it later, but God it felt so good--especially when I was already feeling like shit.
Rose's face fell when she came to encounter the confrontation in the hallway, her eyes darting back and forth between us, sensing the ominous mood.
"Um..."
As she fidgeted, Mother snapped out of her silent fury.
"Hurry up and get inside. If you're done with practice, you should head home immediately--where have you been until now?!"
As usual, taking her anger out on the wrong person. Still, Rose obeyed and, after giving me one parting glance, she hurriedly ran after Mother into their house.
I grimaced. I didn't want to get involved, and I definitely didn't have the capacity to interfere--but I still had to try. For my sister's sake. If anything, I was acting out of guilt, which in my opinion justified nothing.
I sucked in a deep breath before willingly stepping through the door; it felt like I was crossing the barrier into hell. I looked around the house, taking a long good look at the way Mother had arranged the furniture. She had always fussed about how decorating your home was critical, because it was an opportunity for people to appreciate your taste in art, culture, etc. Blech. What nonsense. I saw that to this day, she was abiding by that philosophy; there were numerous paintings on the walls that I could only recognize as being famous for something. I wished I could ask Maria about it.
"She was with me," I grunted, catching up to where Mother and Rose stood in the living room. "That's why I just got in too." It was a half-lie--I didn't know where Rose had been in between the time she had met me and now, but I figured it wouldn't appease Mother in the slightest, unless it was more dance practice.
"You stay out of this."
"But why? I'm the one you were originally angry at. You wanted to know where Rose had been, and I'm telling you. Now will you let the poor girl go so she can change into comfortable clothes and get started on homework?"
Mother crossed her arms spitefully. "Who's the mother--you or me?"
I resisted the temptation to roll my eyes--a miracle. "Do you expect me to answer seriously?"
She glowered. "Aren't you supposed to be sick? Why are you entering someone else's home and causing a ruckus?"
"I'm just trying to preserve the peace."
"Somehow I doubt that. You've always had a talent for stirring up trouble since you were young. What are you playing at?"
"Melanie."
A low, gruff voice interrupted us--all in good timing, too, because my stomach could no longer take the intense anxiety I was trying to bottle up. The container was full. I darted to the nearest kitchen sink and vomited everything I had eaten that day out of my system.
"It appears Irina is feeling unwell indeed," Richard said, his lanky self appearing from the shadows. His sharp features and indifferent expression scared the bejeezus out of me still. I wiped and rinsed my mouth. "We should allow her to get some rest in the guest room while Ms. Goodham prepares dinner."
"I'm not hungry, thanks."
Richard's eyes were steel cold. "It wasn't an invitation."
I openly rolled my eyes. "You have no authority over me."
At that precise moment, something crashed near my right ear. I blinked rapidly, only to realize that my stepfather had thrown a nearby glass cup towards me, which had shattered behind me on the kitchen wall, missing my ear by a few mere centimeters. It took me more than a moment to regain my composure.
"What the hell do you think you're doing, you old fuck?"
"Irina!" Mother hissed, at the same time Rose made a small whimpering sound.
"What? Oh, of course you're going to take the side of your new sugar daddy. God, you people make me sick."
"R-Rina, your ear..."
I touched the back of my right ear and winced; shards of the shattered glass cup had scratched it or something. I laughed at the awkwardness of the situation--how else was I supposed to react? My family, old and new, was always going to be crazy. This was why I had pried myself free years ago; I felt my sanity slipping away each and every second I was forced to weather their presence. I couldn't even look at Rosalie--a part of me secretly harbored resentment for the fact that she chose, time and time again, to be an "innocent" bystander, watching me suffer yet doing absolutely nothing about it.
I shrugged and squared my shoulders. "Richard, you may be my stepfather legally, but you have no actual hold over me. Although I haven't yet been able to break out of this vicious cycle of having to deal with shit people like you who call yourselves human beings, never doubt that I wouldn't hesitate to defend myself. I'll kill you with my hands if I have to."
And I meant it. At that very moment, I was seeing red in my vision--no rhyme or reason would break me out of my spell. A court of law would side with me on this and call it self-defense, right? Without thinking, I grabbed a kitchen knife from the counter and held it out towards him.
"Well? Shall we dance?"
Richard was breathing heavily, as if he had realized the absurdity of his action and needed a minute to compose himself. Well, I wasn't going to wait for that.
But I also didn't want to murder someone who wasn't worth my time for shit. We had barely begun to get acquainted with each other since the wedding, but already it was a mess, which was a gross understatement.
Sighing, I threw the knife onto the floor, acting bored.
"You're insane! You're an insane witch!" Mother screamed, rushing to Richard's side. Her look of concern for the man who had thrown a glass cup towards me made me actually gag.
"I'm insane? Hey Richard, guess where I learned this antic of threatening people with knives? That's right--from your dearly new wife. She probably never told you about the numerous times she threatened her own daughters with a knife, huh?"
"Shut the fuck up! Shut the fuck up!" she squawked, her eyes brimming with panic.
I grinned at that. Good, I was getting on her nerves. Richard said nothing but stare at the knife, at the shattered cup. As if he was assessing the situation like it was someone else's fucking problem.
"It never ceases to amaze me how age is just a number... since obviously I am the most mature one here, I'll excuse myself first, because I don't feel like bleeding anymore today."
With that, I left the house which was worse than hell, not having said another word.
The elevator took forever to get to the ground floor, and the ride up to the penthouse was excruciatingly slow. It had been so long since the last time I had blown up like that--Mother knew just how to get on my nerves to the point I could no longer hold back. But Richard was a new blow. Of course, I had never expected him to be a decent person, but still... Tears brimmed in my eyes, and my vision turned white as I seethed. Why did Mother always have to choose to entangle herself with people who hurt us? Hurt me?
A big motivator for my having agreed to this situation in the first place was for that very reason--I was afraid of Pete, of what he would do to Rose what he had done to me those years ago...
Of all her suitors, Pete was undoubtedly one of the worst. He was a raving lunatic whenever he got drunk, which was often, and he loved to lash out at me for whatever went wrong in his life. Got a crap hand at a lottery ticket? SLAP. Boss yell at him for doing work wrong? PUNCH. Mother fooling around with other guys at her work during those late nights at the bar? WHACK.
I could quite literally never do anything right per his standards, and the only reason he didn't extend his abuse to Rose at the time was because she was his blood, and the one principle he abided by was that "blood is thicker than water." I hate that phrase; it means horseshit. Why is our culture so dedicated to the idea that family equals protection, warmth, love and happiness? That's not universally true. People are just displacing their wants and desires on others because they refuse to live in a world where such cruelty happens on a daily basis.
Instinctively, my palm cupped my jaw, remembering the worst of Pete's tantrums--when he had kicked me in the face and my jaw had been fractured for two weeks. It had been so painful to endure, especially because Mother didn't want to let me to go to the doctor out of shame of what had happened. No, she was perfectly content to let me suffer in pain, so long as no one would blame her of being a terrible parent for failing to prevent this from happening in the first place.
My anger started to boil towards Rosalie now--where was she when that had occurred? She had been out with her friends. When she had returned and seen my face, her face had fallen and she had cried for me, but again what did she really do?
Absolutely nothing.
Why had I protected her this time? Why worry about what Pete, her father, could do--when he had never abused her to begin with? No, it was me who was abused and tortured; yet she never apologized, never told anyone, never went looking for help but utterly ignored me when I needed her for once...
It was hard to differentiate between the good memories with my sister and these memories that continued to haunt me, that I had completely forgotten until I was thrust back into this life. I hated living with them. I hated my family. And then I would feel guilty for thinking that way, for feeling resentment towards Rose when she was just a child at that time...
What about me? I was a child back then, too!
Stop victimizing yourself.
It's true. I've been through so much. Why do I only continue to suffer like this?
There's no good answer for that. If you want to blame anyone, blame God.
There is no God.
Then blame yourself.
Why? Why?
Rather than continue with that conversation in my head, I struggled to drag my ass into the penthouse unit at last--the destination was my bed. If I couldn't muster strength to get that far, then the couch. Hell, the floor would even do, if I could get some peace and quiet so I could think about nothing, nothing at all.
"Rina? Are you home?"
Great. In my current state, I definitely didn't have the capacity to deal with Heath right now.
Heath entered the living room, then his eyes widened when he saw me trying to take my shoes off at the doorway in my current state.
"What's happened to you? You look like shit."
I said nothing. My vision was going blurry, and the tension in my limbs was fading. I couldn't quite gather my surroundings, and eventually I crumpled to the floor--or fell? I couldn't tell. One second I was standing, albeit barely, then the next I wasn't anymore. Facing the black wooden floor, I felt my face fall down, down, until I was swallowed whole by the black hole that had opened up on the ground.
The last thing I heard was Heath shouting my name.
"Rina!"

a uni survival guide: tips from a phd
if there's one thing i know about, it's college. i've done it, i've taught it, i've lived and breathed it. these tips are for first years in particular, but honestly for everybody. i think it's so important for people to have balanced lives in these years -- academics are not everything. you know what didn't help me in the real world when i was afraid i wouldn't live through it? my fancy college note-taking format. you know what did help me? the friends i made there who i knew would get on a plane and fly across the country in a matter of hours if i told them i needed them.
academic
- figure out where class is held ahead of time: don't be that kid who's late on day one, i beg of you
- use the writing center: especially for basic grammatical editing, which a lot of professors don't have time to mark on papers
- speak up in class: talking through ideas helps you work through them, and asking questions about something you don't understand can open up great lines of conversation
- find a regular schedule that works for you and stick to it: my college schedule was morning free time, class, lunch, class, practice, homework. that consistency was a life-saver
- keep a planner: it's so important to have a central place to track deadlines, assignments, and engagements
- annotate your reading: when you're stressing about a paper topic, being able to go back to what you've highlighted and written in the margins is a life-saver
- color-code your coursework: i use the same color highlighter, pen, and notebook for any given class. it's super helpful
- if you can't focus while studying with friends, don't: i reserved group studying for days when i didn't have important work because i can't be in a room with other people without talking to them. if your school has one, the quiet floor of the library is your best friend
- treat yourself to a "fun" class: art was always my place to just sit back and chill, a way to end the night all zen in the darkroom instead of conjugating russian verbs in a fluorescent-lit cinderblock prison. for you, it could be gym, it could be pottery, it could be some random course about, like, the history of cooking or something -- explore!
- profs are people too: don't be too nervous around them. also, know that if you're struggling -- even b/c of something in your personal life -- you can admit it, and they'll almost always understand why you missed a deadline or bombed a test
- go to office hours: it's the only way to get to know professors in big courses, and it's so helpful for both your grades and learning how to navigate relationships with authority figures
social
- don't let academia keep you from your friends: it's a case-by-case basis, but sometimes it's okay to let the reading slide and spend time with friends. i graduated seven years ago and my college group text still talks every day. that's so much more important to me than the fact that i never finished brideshead revisited
- joining a club is one of the best ways to make friends: i played ultimate frisbee through college and it was the source of so many lasting relationships, as well as the way i met all my local friends when i was abroad
- say yes to things you don't know if you'll like: you'll surprise yourself. me? turns out i love drinking games. and theme parties. and skinny dipping. and rock climbing
- don't be that person who looks down on their peers for partying: honestly? that person kind of sucks. you don't have to party if you don't want to, but actually, a lot of those people are super nice and also good at school -- don't just write them off!
- show up for your friends: go to their games, their concerts, their art shows, their standup nights. show them that what matters to them matters to you, too
- set aside a night to do a group activity with others: whether your vibe is wednesday night trivia, a weekly "terrible movie" showing, or a get-high-and-watch-nature-documentaries-type thing, these are great ways to liven up the week and de-stress
- this is a great time to figure out who from high school really matters to you: you don't have to force relationships that were built mostly on convenience if there are friends at uni with whom you click more. people you became friends with purely based on the coincidence of where your parents lived do not have to be your forever friends. they can be! but they don't have to be
personal
- don't expect too much of yourself: a 4.0 is not the end-all, be-all. if your family or somebody tells you it is, tell them to call me, and i will personally talk some sense into them
- take advantage of university support services: mental health counseling, free yoga classes, multi-cultural societies, etc
- drink water: please, please don't get kidney stones in the middle of the semester, says the girl who got kidney stones in the middle of the semester
- let yourself take breaks: if you need to lie to a professor and say you're sick when really you're just feeling down and you need to sit in bed and watch a movie, that's totally valid
- don't freak about individual assignments: my students come to me freaking over a B+ and i tell them, honey, no job interviewer is ever going to ask you about your second paper from communications 101. i wish i'd known that
- go see speakers if there's someone interesting coming to campus: these talks are always cooler than you expect. i'll never get over the fact that i didn't go see anita hill when she came to my undergrad
- do your laundry on the same night every week: i can't explain why this is so helpful but it really is
- keep up on the news and the memes: read the school paper, the school blog, the memes page -- college politics and inside jokes are fun and convoluted and fascinating
- set the groundwork for long-term self-care: all of the above is really just to say -- university isn't just for learning about the french revolution, it's also about learning how to balance, how to handle failure, how to ask for help, how to make a salad that doesn't totally suck, etc

you’re still a traitor (Hotch x Fem!Reader) — one shot
This is all angst because my brain wanted to write something based off “traitor” by Olivia Rodrigo 🤭🤭🤭
Warnings: angst, mentions of sex, mentions of excessive drinking as a coping mechanism, no happy ending (and no there won’t be a part 2 soz)
Hotch Masterlist || Main Masterlist
Tumblr media
brown guilty eyes and little white lies i played dumb but i always knew
Your relationship with Hotch wasn’t even a real relationship. Not in hindsight, at least. At the heart of it, though, as it was happening, it felt real. It felt more real than anything you had ever experienced.
Nothing was glorified, over-exaggerated, or unnecessary. You’ve always been a straight-to-the-point person, and so has he, so it struck neither of you by surprise when you began spending nights together on cases.
The tension between the two of you had always been high from the day you started at the BAU. He blames it on the skirt you wore to the interview. You blame it on the way he looked you up and down every chance he got.
No wonder he didn’t look surprised to find you on the other side of his hotel room door.
That first night you had said something stupid, something about the girls being lame and going to bed early. But the truth was that they were raiding the minibar, and as much as you wanted to join them, you wanted to see Hotch more.
You knew he didn’t sleep much. It wasn’t hard to conclude, not with his recent divorce, late hours, entire pots of coffee to himself, and dark circles under his eyes.
Not to mention, of course, the small throw pillow and blanket that magically appeared on the couch in his office one day.
You weren’t surprised when he opened the hotel room door, still fully dressed, minus his jacket. You were barely a fourth of a way through your explanation for turning up at his door when he pulled you inside, lips bruising yours and hands gripping your skirt.
To him, it was always the damn skirt.
That night was the first of many. No one knew. No one knows now. Hotch continued to book you a room of your own, and you continued to spend your nights in his bed.
You mastered the art of sneaking to his room after everyone was in, and sneaking back to yours before anyone woke up.
Occasionally, you’d stay back at the BAU until everyone had left, just to spend a moment more with Hotch.
loved you at your worst but that didn’t matter
No one knows this, but you’re the reason his dark circles left. The reason he didn’t stay as late anymore. Because you always coaxed him away, wanting dinner, or even just company as you walked to your car (where you’d then ask for dinner, or rightfully point out that he’s already at the parking garage, so he might as well go home).
Dinner one night turned into almost every night, except when he had Jack. Sleeping in his bed once became almost every night, except when Jack wanted to spend the night.
A label was never spoken about, but you never felt the need to speak about it. As far as you were concerned, you were the only one he was sleeping with and vice versa. Why did a label matter?
That’s what you told yourself, at least. Labels didn’t matter to you. Exclusivity is all that mattered, and you had that. You thought.
You had suspected Hotch started seeing someone else. But all you had was a gut feeling, and a feeling isn’t enough evidence.
i kept quiet so i could keep you
Soon it wasn’t just a feeling. Soon Hotch didn’t want to go to dinner anymore because he was leaving earlier than you — earlier than anyone else. Soon he started actually leaving for lunch on his lunch hour, and that’s when the rumors started swarming.
“Okay,” Garcia ushered everyone over in the bullpen. “Is. Hotch. Dating?”
Rossi chuckled. “I. Don’t. Know.”
Morgan shook his head. “Nah, that sounds like he knows something.”
“Not really,” you shrugged. “Why do we think he’s dating someone?”
“Are you kidding me? Garcia gasped. “He just left the building on his lunch hour! I’ve never seen him leave for lunch the entire time I’ve been here.”
“Me either,” JJ agreed, to your horror.
“Maybe it’s just something with Jack,” you shrugged again, not even aware of your defensive tone.
Prentiss narrowed her eyes. “Do you know something?”
“What?” You blurted, eyes wide. “No? Am I supposed to?”
“Answering a question with a question,” Reid pointed out lowly.
“Thank you, Captain Obvious,” you said. You grimace, thinking about it now, but you didn’t have any energy then to know it was rude. Or to care.
You were paranoid. Horrified. You were in Hotch’s bed two nights ago, and now he was leaving on his lunch hour, and you had no idea what for. All signs pointed right where the rest of the team was thinking, but the thought made you sick.
So sick that the next night, when you found yourself once again in Hotch’s bed, you brought it up.
You tried to be nonchalant. You don’t know where it went wrong.
ain’t it funny? remember i brought her up and you told me i was paranoid
“How was lunch yesterday?”
His eyebrows furrowed. Something you used to gaze at in awe, but in that moment it made you panic. “Lunch?”
“Yeah,” you murmured. “You left for lunch and the whole team thought something was up.”
He merely hummed. Hummed. That was his reply.
“Emily thought I knew where you went,” you continued, tracing circles on your arm. Normally, you’d trace circles on his chest, but that felt wrong all of the sudden. “I told them I didn’t and they didn’t believe me.”
He chuckled quietly. “I went to lunch. That’s all.”
“With who?” You asked, far too quickly. Maybe that was your mistake. You were too accusatory too fast.
“Did it have to be with someone?” He retaliated, and looking back now, you see this moment here, this was the downfall.
“I mean,” you paused. “You normally stay in your office if you’re eating alone. I figured if you left then you were going to meet someone.”
“Oh.”
You hesitated. “Did you?”
“Yes,” he finally said, ripping the Band-Aid off once and for all. “Her name is Beth. But we’re just friends.”
You nodded. “You sure?”
He turned on his side then, facing you with his head propped on his arm. “Why are you asking?”
“Because I’m curious.”
“You’re never curious.”
“You never leave the office to meet someone for lunch.” Especially not a woman, unless for whatever reason, Haley wants to have lunch and brings Jack, but the last time that happened was seven months ago, back when they were still trying to be friends after the divorce.
“I’m allowed to meet friends for lunch.”
“I didn’t say you weren’t,” you replied, probably too harshly. “I just meant...I don’t know what I meant.”
you gave me your word but that didn’t matter
Weeks passed by and you watched Hotch leave every now and again to have lunch with Beth. He never explicitly told you that it was Beth he was meeting every single time, but you knew. You always knew.
Because the look he’d give you as he’d close his office door, phone in hand no doubt to send a text to her, letting her know he was on his way. The look he’d give you said it all.
You knew the end was coming. Truthfully, you knew the end of the two of you was coming from the first day he met her for lunch.
You had never seen him as happy as he looked when he came back. And with every lunch date, it got worse.
Yet, for some reason, he still invited you over. And for some reason, you still agreed without hesitation.
February came and your heart broke with it.
You knocked on Hotch’s office door, bag in hand, the question of dinner on your hopeful lips.
“Can we talk?” He asked, speaking before you had a second to breathe.
You nodded, stepped inside to your demise, not even bothering to sit down. You knew it wouldn’t take long, and it didn’t.
Two sentences. That’s all it took.
“I don’t think what we’re doing is something I want long-term — for me or for you. I think it’s best if we go our separate ways.”
For me or for you. He was always thinking of your well-being. It always annoyed you.
“Okay,” you had said, cracking a small smile to hide the pain. “Fun while it lasted, right?”
“Right,” he agreed. “Well, have a good night. See you tomorrow.”
You couldn’t hold the tears in and they flowed freely before you were even out of the bullpen. You were thankful everyone had left. Imagine the explanation you would’ve had to conjure up. The web of lies he would’ve forced you to spin in five seconds.
Instead, you had to spin an entirely new web. All to explain why you weren’t sleeping, why you were drinking more, why you looked like you had cried all night the next day (you said it was allergies and insomnia; Morgan was the only skeptical one, but he let it go).
it took you two weeks to go off and date her
The real ending came when Valentine’s Day arrived. You were foolish to think he’d spend it with you, but you still did.
The jet landed back in Virginia after a long case, and you thought for sure Hotch would tap you on the way off of the jet, ask you to dinner, then back to his place, just like you did last year.
But he had made plans. With Beth.
You were delusional to think otherwise, but still, his smile cut right through you when he told Rossi he had plans.
guess you didn’t cheat but you’re still a traitor
Derek, Emily, and Penelope wanted to go out for drinks and you were the first to agree, ready to forget the past year of your life.
Thankfully, you didn’t spill any secrets while drunk. You did confess to going through a breakup, but not with Hotch. No one will ever know it was Hotch. The “he” in question will forever remain a mystery to them.
Meanwhile, you watched Hotch fall deeper and deeper in love. He decided to run a triathlon, and he trained every morning -- with her. He left for lunch almost every day to go eat -- with her. He never stayed late, he always had plans -- with her.
He hardly ever spoke to you anymore. And you never spoke to him.
It became an unspoken agreement for you to leave finished paperwork on his desk without a word (if he was in there) or better yet, to drop it off while he’s at lunch.
You sleep in the hotel room furthest from his every case.
The seats next to him on the jet are off-limits and you’ve even gone to make a shitty cup of shitty coffee before to avoid him (and everyone knows you hate the coffee on the jet).
You somehow managed to never meet or hear about Beth until the triathlon — and you were apparently the only one who hadn’t met her yet.
Jack hugged her immediately that day. He had already warmed up to her and it made you want to claw your heart out.
Beth is nice. Beth is an angel. Beth is older, prettier, everything you knew Hotch wanted and wasn’t getting from you.
She shook your hand with a smile, none the wiser to the fact that you’ve slept with Hotch more times than you can remember. That your heart belongs to him even though you don’t want it to. Even though you want it back.
now you bring her around just to shut me down show her off like she’s a new trophy
Once you met Beth, it seemed like she was everywhere. Visiting the office, bringing Hotch lunch, bringing Jack in to visit, having coffee with Hotch in the cafe you used to frequent, at Rossi’s for family dinner nights. Everywhere.
Worst of all, at JJ and Will’s wedding.
You weren’t the only one to show up without a date, yet you felt like it. Especially when Hotch arrived with Beth on his arm, glowing like always, with Jack holding onto his hand.
You avoided Hotch all night — Beth too, but mostly him — yet he somehow managed to find you alone in the kitchen.
The wine was your saving grace of the night, and he happened to walk in as you were pouring another.
“I can hear your liver screaming from here.”
A poor attempt at a joke, really. Maybe it was funny. But you didn’t laugh. “I’ll survive” was your dry reply before downing half the glass.
His face looked softer, but you know now it was the wine in your system.
“You look good,” he had said. “How are you doing?”
You stared at him. “Fine. Thanks.”
You don’t know why he kept trying to have a conversation with you. You felt insufferable and you see now that you were, but it’s all his fault.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
You chuckled dryly. “Not with you.” You paused. “How’s Beth?” Paused again, this time to bring the wine glass to your lips. “How’s a real relationship working out for you?”
Hotch’s face fell. “What we had was real. You know that.”
“I know it was,” you replied. “But do you? Do you really?”
He didn’t answer. His silence was all you needed.
and i know if you were true there’s no damn way that you could fall in love with somebody that quickly
You left him standing there in the kitchen without another word. You had nothing left to say to him, and he clearly ran out of words for you.
Derek found you halfway to the dance floor.
“Woah, I don’t like that look,” he said, taking the wine from you. “What’s going through that pretty head of yours?”
“Nothing,” you lied. “Let’s dance instead. Come on.”
You drug him away, meeting Penelope and Emily for the next song. You danced, you cried, you blamed the tears on the alcohol in your system. You slow danced with Emily, Derek, Rossi, narrowly avoided Hotch by swinging into Spencer’s fumbling arms.
No one knew. No one would ever know.
you betrayed me

Part two  →
~~~
Soulmates were a phenomenon. They'd been there for ages, drawn into the Egyptian tomb paintings, seen in the cave paintings from millions of years ago, talked about in stories passed down from generation to generation. They could be matching drawings, first words, names; all black before the soulmates met and turning gold the moment they talked to each other. There wasn't a scientist in the world who could explain the phenomenon.
You'd received your mark at birth just like everyone else, a sentence running around your wrist,
"No fucking way."
Your parents weren't that happy when you asked at the age of 4 what "fucking" meant but it wasn't that bad. You were happy that you had something unique, something other than the "Hi," or "Excuse me," that was on every other arm.
When you were 13, a little girl on the train pointed to your wrist and asked her mom what it meant. Ever since then, you'd taken to wearing bracelets over it. This had turned out to be a good idea because a few years later you started making Youtube videos. At the age of 16, you started a Youtube channel where you focused on a variety of things; makeup, fashion, games, art, skits and a whole lot more.
At the age of 20, you had a steady following of a little more than a million subscribers, and you had moved to LA to be closer to all your Youtube friends. You hadn't just grown on Youtube, you'd also started a lot of side projects. You were known for the art that you did on the side, along with the makeup palette you'd come out with a year ago. Soon you were planning to release a merch collection, one that you had been working on for a whole year now.
You hadn't met your soulmate at this point but honestly, you didn't really mind. Balancing Youtube and study (along with all your other side projects) was hard. There was no need to add the struggle of love into it... Or that's what you told yourself anyways.
There were days though, days where you wished you had someone to hug, someone to cuddle in bed with, someone to go on long walks with. You didn't let yourself wallow on it that long though. Crying about it was gonna do absolutely nothing.
It started on a rainy day. The story of you and him. You were editing your soon to be uploaded video, an e-girl outfits lookbook, which had been requested by your followers. Your personal style was all over the place and your previous soft girl and cottage care look books had done well, so you decided to continue the series.
You eyes blurred as you looked at the same point of the video, and you sighed, removing your glasses and rubbing your eyes. Your editor was sick and had let you know that they wouldn't be able to edit it by the deadline so here you were, editing it yourself. You stretched in your chair letting out a yawn. You were contemplating on whether to make coffee or not when your phone pinged.
"Nooooo" you whined when you noticed it was on the coffee table that was just a little out of your reach. Stretching your foot out, you tried to grab it between your toes and then sighed when the phone fell.
"I have zero luck, I swear" you muttered to yourself, bending to pick up the phone.
The text was from Rae, asking you to join a game of Among Us. You and Rae had been friends for a bit now, which all started when she came across your art and decided to order something from you. You had chatted and clicked immediately, immediately becoming fast friends. Ever since the lockdown started, she often asked you to join in on Among us games and your friendship had really grown over these past few months.
You sent a quick "sure!" and then went to your table, waiting for the PC to turn on. Quickly tweeting out that you were streaming, you opened up Youtube and turned on the stream, saying a quick hello and letting them know what you'd be doing.
"Rae just invited me guys, I don't really know who's there," you mumbled, replying to a comment asking you who you were playing with.
You squinted your eyes, joining the voice chat and then opening your phone camera to quickly check that you didn't look horrible. Sure you didn't really care about how you looked but it was always good to check that you didn't have anything stuck between your teeth before you turned on the camera.
There was already a conversation going on, between who you thought was Corpse and Sykkuno, judging by their voices.
"Yeah I could totally do that. Get a cat and name it Bingus. I wonder if th-"
You gasped when you heard what they were talking about and unmuted yourself immediately yelling "PRAISE LORD BINGUS" and effectively shocking everyone in the chat.
A moment of silence and then Rae yelled: "OH MY FUCKING GOD Y/N, YOU SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME."
You giggled as everyone groaned and whined, saying hi as they realised who it was. You had played with Sykkuno and the others a few times before but you'd never met Corpse before. You'd heard his voice though, as he was trending on twitter constantly over the past few weeks. Once they all quietened down, you realised Corpse hadn't said anything. Since you knew everyone else in the lobby, you introduced yourself, wondering if you'd scared him a bit too hard.
"Hey Corpse, I'm Y/N from Y/C/N, its so nice to finally meet you," you said gritting your teeth at you awkward introduction. For a second there was no response and then three words were said that made your jaw drop to the floor.
"No fucking way"
He had whispered it, obviously still in shock, and your eyes widened in surprise as a tingle spread all over your body. So this was what everyone meant by "you'll just know," when you asked them about how you would recognize your soulmate.
"Holy shit" you thought frozen in your seat.
Never had you been more glad that you hadn't turned the camera on yet.
"Uhhhh-" you started, but stopped now knowing what to say.
What the fuck were you supposed to do now.
"Wha- Whats wrong?" Rae asked after a moment passed.
Corpse cleared his throat and started "Its um, shes my -" and you cut him off, heart beating in your chest.
"Nothing. Its nothing." you said talking over him. "Who else are we waiting for Rae?" you asked joining the lobby quickly and choosing red as your colour.
"Uh one more person," she said slowly, still a bit confused.
"Oh awesome!" you said fake enthusiasm prevalent in your voice. "So Sykkuno," you started, wanting to keep the conversation going. "How's Bimbus doing?"
Sykkuno launched into a story of Bimbus and you blew out a sigh of relief, mind still numb over the revelation.
Corpse was your soulmate.
The guy who had literally went viral the past few weeks was your soulmate.
You'd finally found him.
You heard Rae cut Sykkuno off, telling everyone she was starting the game and muttered a "Thank god" when the words "CREWMATE" appeared on your screen. You would not have been able to play imposter at the moment, your mind pretty much stuck on the fact that Corpse was your fucking soulmate.
Heading down to admin, you realised you hadn't said anything yet to the stream so you quickly turned on your cam, saying a quick sorry to the viewers.
"Sorry guys, I forgot to put the camera on," you smiled focusing on card swipe.
"I hope everyone's been okay, I know this was quite sudden, but Rae invited me and I was like why not you know," you said rambling as you moved to comms and did the task there.
Lights were called and you moved to electrical, arriving there just as Leslie fixed them. You moved into the back of electrical doing the three tasks you had there when Sykkuno suddenly came in and went straight to standing on top of the vent.
You giggled already knowing his trick.
"Okay guys," you mumbled watching Sykkuno wiggle on the vent. "do we trust Sykkuno or not?"
"You know what," you said making a split second decision. "Its the first game, we might as well."
Joining him on the vent, you stilled for a second and then breathed a sigh of relief when he didn't automatically kill you.
"See, what did I tell you guys huh?" you question smiling straight at the camera. "I knew Sykkuno could be trusted."
You decided to follow Sykkuno going into reactor with him and starting 'Simon says' and just as you were on the last part, a body was found making you let a whine out.
"Guysss," you whined to the camera as Rae started talking about how she had found Daves body in admin.
"Um, I havent been in admin since the start of the game," you said, "also I can clear Sykkuno, for the last part of the round, he's been with me since lights went out."
Sykkuno confirmed it, "Yup that's right, also I can hard clear Y/N cuz guess what? She stood on the vent with me and none of us died."
Everyone chuckled as he said "Thats good enough for me."
"Uh, I was in navigation mostly." said Lily.
"Poki, can I just ask what you were doing?" said Sean, an undercurrent of mirth present.
"Me?" asked Poki speaking for the first time. "What was I doing?"
"You weren't doing any tasks, you were literally just walking from one side of medbay to the other when I peeked in."
Poki started laughing, trying to get her words out at the same time.
"Okay so-" a giggle. "okay okay- I was just, I was trying to um do the beep test," she said finally breaking down and making everyone else laugh as well.
"What the fuck?" you said, laughing at the image in your mind.
"My chat told me to do it last game so I decided to do it now, I was literally just playing around," she said finally, adding "I swear I'm not imposter" at the end.
"Hmmm," you hummed, bringing a hand up to stroke your chin. "Are you sure it was last game Poki... hm...."
Giggling at Poki indignant "YES it was last game", you quickly skipped voting like everyone else as the timer went into the last ten seconds.
Humming a tune under your breath, you went back to reactor, taking a minute to carefully do Simon says and then moved to the other task counting out one two three as you pressed on the numbers. Humming, you moved out of reactor, only to come face to face with Corpse. You paused for a second, and then moved ahead, refusing to show anything on camera. For some reason he followed you as you went to storage, looking at you while you did the trash.
"Why is he just staring?" you mumbled, biting your lip. God, you really didn't wanna think of him right now. You started walking to shields, him still walking with you when lights were called and not a second later a body was reported.
Suddenly there was screaming your ears as Toast and Rae both started accusing each other.
"Wait- Wait WAIT" yelled Poki trying to get them to stop. "What happened?"
"I'll explain" declared Rae, not letting toast get a word in. "We were in navigation okay, me, Toast and Leslie. Lights went out, and suddenly a report buttons there. It's either Toast or someone came in just as lights went out and killed but that doesn't seem likely because I didn't see anyone anywhere near us at all. Anyways I'm fucking telling the truth guys, its Toast, he's the one who did it."
"Toast, do you have anything to say for yourself?" asked Corpse, his voice making your insides shiver.
"Holy shit, this is my soulmate", you thought for the fiftieth time.
"Uh yeah," replied toast. "I didn't do it."
Everyone laughed as he continued.
"Like seriously, I wouldn't do anything like this because it'd be a stupid move from my own part, and I think Raes smart enough to not do this as well. I think someone else came in just as lights went down and killed immediately, which to be honest, was pretty smart of them."
"Okay so I can clear Corpse," you cut in noticing the timer was close. "he was with me in weapons when it happened, he wouldn't have had time to go all the way up, or even vent there because we were literally walking in."
"Yup that's right," confirmed corpse.
"I'm in cafeteria" said Poki.
"Yeah, I saw her on my way to weapons," said Sykkuno, "and I'm in weapons right now,"
"I'm in lower engine" said Sean, and Lily said she was in reactor.
"I think it's Toast," you mumbled and then rose your voice to talk over everyone. "Look okay fine, maybe he said it was a stupid move and he wouldn't do it but maybe he did it for that exact reason. He thought he could get away with it because no one would expect him to do something like that."
As the timer started going down by 10, you voted for Toast and it turned out 3 had skipped the vote while five had voted for him.
damn.
"Guys you actually voted for him?" you said in a high voice, re-enacting one of Sykkunos most said lines.
You heard a "oh for gods sake" from Rae before everyone went silent and you giggled as you moved back down to weapons to do your tasks.
You finished all your tasks and decided to go to security to check where everyone is. Humming as you moved through the electrical hallway, you narrowed your eyes as Corpse came out of electrical and went towards storage. Quickly ducking in you didn't see a body so you headed back out, going into cams and gasping as you saw the body. Reporting immediately you were shocked to see the four kills that had happened. Now only you, Corpse, Sean and Rae were left.
"Oh my god," you mumbled confused. Either there were still two imposters, and Toast wasn't the imposter or the imposter literally killed and did nothing else. Now either that could mean that its definitely Rae if Toast wasn't the imposter, or that it was Corpse as the only imposter left. That was a bit weird though becuase he could have totally killed you at the start of the game. You didn't suspect Sean at all.
"What the fuck?" mumbled Corpse, and Rae made her animal noises expressing her shock.
"Okay," you said taking charge and relaying the kill and your theory to everyone. "So either it was Toast and there's only one other imposter, who is Corpse. Or Toast wasn't an imposter and there's two of them left. I-" you took a deep breath in at the end, very confused. " I don't know anymore,"
"I think its Corpse as well,"
Corpse who hadn't said anything up till this moment suddenly started stammering out "hey-hey uh let-lets not gang up on me okay. It's not-"
"No, wait, its because Y/N said you came out of electrical right, and I saw you in upper engine literally a bit ago and you went down. I went towards cafeteria so I don't know exactly where you went but its totally possible that you killed."
You voted form him after that, convinced it was Corpse, and the other followed quickly.
"Guys what the fuck, at least give me a chance to explain my self" he whined when his body was thrown off the ship seconds later. You cheered when the "VICTORY" sign was displayed across the screen, bringing up your chat and laughing at Toast as he pretended to be angry at me.
"That was a great round, good work Y/N"
"Thankyou" you mumbled staring at your chat. You were confused when you saw the absolute influx of messages on there, and you were barely able to read them because they were going so fast. You scrolled up, and read through the few of the messages;
"You've made corpse sad."
"Corpse has literally been so quite since you came in, can you leave."
"Omg stop with the hate messages, its not her fault if corpse isn't talking to you"
"are you his ex or something? What was that reaction at the start?"
"what did you do? Corpse literally hasn't said a word since you came in."
"Um..."
Corpse POV
Corpses heart stopped for a minute, his breath catching. The words on his wrist glowed gold, and he stared at the little red character standing there.
This person was the reason that he had "PRAISE BINGUS" stretched across his wrist.
They were the only reason that he had searched "Bingus" on google for all of his life. The only reason Corpse knew about the meme before anyone else was because he was constantly monitoring the word online. Ever since March, he had been waiting with bated breath, anxious that he could meet his soulmate at any moment. and here you were.
For some reason, he had never expected that he would meet you in among us, or while he was on stream. He always thought it'd be someone outside. It was a bit stupid in hindsight as all he did nowadays was play among us.
He heard you introduce yourself to him but the only thing that came out of his mouth was “No fucking way”.
Immediately after he wanted to slap himself.
“Idiot” he thought to himself. “At least try to make a good impression.”
When Rae asked what was wrong, heat sprung to his cheeks as he started revealing that they were soulmates, but Y/N cut him off, saying that it was nothing.
Corpse’s heart sank a little then.
'Maybe she’s just a private person,' he reasoned with himself.
'I shouldn’t have tried to say it on stream either. God, I’m a fucking idiot, if I said it, literally everyone would know and not only would I have hated the attention, she probabaly would have as well.'
Convincing himself that she was right, he reassured himself that it wasn’t because of him. She wasn’t revealing it because she probably didn't want all the attention.
For some reason though, his heart sank even more when Y/N didnt talk to him, instead talking to sykkuno about his dog. Like sure he could understand not wanting to reveal they were soulmates but shouldn’t she at least wanna talk to him? At this point he wouldn’t even mind if she talked about his voice like everyone else.
He groaned when the word "Imposter" came across his screen, his and Toasts character standing together. He was not in the right mindset right now to be able to be a good imposter. Breathing in deeply he continued in the game, with the first round passing by quick. The second round, he saw Y/N and stood with her for a bit wondering if he should kill her. Her red character moved to weapons and he sighed moving the mouse over the kill button. Just as he was thinking of clicking a body was found. Corpse swore as Toast flew off the ship. Deciding he needed to speed it up he killed four people in the round, hissing when the meeting was called. The moment Y/N accused him, he knew it was over. He didn't even bother defending himself much, just hoping the game would end soon.
When they were in the lobby, he quickly told everyone that he was going to leave because his internet was acting up. Turning off the stream after saying a quick thank you to everyone, he leaned back in his seat breathing through his nose.
What the fuck was his life.
Even his soulmate didnt want him. Honestly, he should have expected this. Abandoned at 12 with no one around him, why did his expect his soulmate to even give a fuck about him. Tears pricked his eyes and he blinked trying to get rid of them. He breathed in deeply, grabbing the water on the table and taking a big gulp. He had never hated himself more than he did right now. Why couldnt he have an easier life.
“Why cant I just fucking be NORMAL” he yelled throwing the empty bottle of water at the wall.
Throwing himself into bed, he scrunched up his eyes, hoping that sleep would come today, not noticing as his phone lit up with a single message.
Your POV
You stayed for another game and then ducked out apologizing and making an excuse up.
"Sorry it was such a short stream, everyone," you said pouting at the camera. "It was fun though so hopefully I get to do it again." Waving goodbye, you turned off the camera and leaned your head back staring at the ceiling.
What the actual fuck.
Grabbing your phone, you stared at it for a bit. Everything that you had pushed to the back of your mind in the game, was suddenly in the forefront.
The only thing you knew about Corpse was that he had a really deep voice, he narrated horror movies, and he maybe did music?
'Rae mentioned that once right?' you thought to yourself.
You unlocked the phone and then locked it again, too scared to actually do anything.
Unlocked.
Locked.
Unlocked.
Locked.
"Oh get a grip," you muttered to yourself, opening the phone and sending a text to Rae.
‘Hey Rae, do you have corpses number? Do you mind sending it to me, I need to tell him something.’
A reply came in a minute,
‘umm, why. he's pretty private so idk i don't rlly wanna give his number if he doesn't want someone to have it’
You sighed, and decided you might as well tell her. You knew Rae wouldn't betray your trust.
‘He's my soulmate’
Immediately a ‘AHDJHAKJKAGDAK’ came as a reply and you giggled at the string of emojis after it.
‘Don't tell anyone,’ you sent quickly, trying to calm her down.
‘Okay okay, its XXX - XXX - XXXX, ASHAGDH IM DYING OMG. GO TALK TO HIM.’
Biting your lip you added Corpse into your contacts hesitating before putting a small black heart next to his name.
"Already simping," you mumbled under your breath, hands hovering over the keyboard as you struggled to think of what to write.
You finally decided on 'Hey, its Y/N, can I call?' thinking that something short would be the best way to go. Hand hovering over the send button, you sucked in a breath and pressed it, waiting with bated breath.
A minute passed.
And then five.
And then, without you even you realising, it'd been half an hour of you just looking at your phone.
An hour later, you were slumped on your desk, eyes closed and snoring lightly, the phone still open, the message you sent lighting up the screen.
tbc.
you slammed your foot hard against the wall and cursed in pain. you hopped on one foot to your bed, holding your other leg in agony and tasted blood as you bit your lip to keep the volume of your suffering groans in check. someone knocked on the door.
'are you okay?' your roommate asked concerned.
'no, leave me alone, kevin,' you croaked out. you wanted to suffer by yourself.
there was an awkward silence and then you heard him sigh. soon after, the door next to your room closed shut.
why were you so frustrated, one might ask? well, the pandemic was kicking your butt and you just couldn't take it anymore. when the news of the virus had first spread, no one thought it would become this serious. but suddenly everyone was walking around with masks and spent most of their time staying at home.
after graduating high school, you and kevin had decided to move in together for college because both of you were broke and couldn't afford to live alone. you had been best friends since middle school and had been convinced that it was a smart idea at the time.
and everything went smoothly for the first one and a half years. however, after not seeing anyone else since the start of the pandemic over a year ago, it became increasingly difficult to share an apartment, but not in the way one might assume. you were neither sick of each other nor did you fight a lot. to tell the truth, it was quite the opposite.
earlier, before you had kicked the wall in anger, the two of you had painted together. kevin was majoring in art and, since you didn't have anything better to do, you joined him while he did projects for his classes. you might have been majoring in journalism but you had always liked drawing and painting, even though you weren't particularly skilled. you were a naturally clumsy person, always tripping over air and dropping things. today you were hecticly moving around your hands while telling him about a stupid video you had seen and you accidently let go of the brush in your hand. it hit the side of kevin's face, leaving a wide splodge of red paint on his right cheek.
to get back at you, he jerked his paint brush and splattered some green color on your white shirt. you saw this as a challenge and soon both of you were both drenched in the colors of the rainbow, laughing hysterically on the floor, not caring that you were spreading the paint on the poor carpet.
you turned your heads to look at each other and you felt absolutely in peace. you loved this man and couldn't be more glad that it was him and not anyone else you were stuck with inside of this apartment.
he stood up to take off his stained shirt and your smile quickly faded off your face. your lips slightly parted and you couldn't help but stare at his now exposed biceps and abs.
your mouth watered and you felt heat pooling between your legs as you took your time to study his architecture. thoughts about how badly you wanted him to thrust into you while his strong arms held you up invaded your mind. you tried to shake them off but it was impossible.
occasions like this were slowly becoming a common occurrence for you.
having mostly stayed inside for over a year, also meant that you didn't have sex for that long. it's not like you were the horniest person on the planet but you still had needs that were being neglected. with kevin being home all the time you didn't even dare to masturbate, scared that he would be able to hear you through the frustratingly thin walls. you must have gone insane with all the lust building up inside you and that's why you suddenly craved to have sex with your best friend. this whole thing was destroying everything. it was hard to act normal when he was making you this nervous and heated but you tried to pretend that everything was fine anyway for the sake of your friendship.
that was the reason why you were angry and had hurt yourself. you hated the way you felt about your best friend and you hated the pandemic for not giving you an outlet to escape so you could recollect yourself.
what you weren't aware of was that kevin was no stranger to the exact same frustration.
he would need more than his ten fingers and ten toes to be able to count the amount of times he had to run to the bathroom to hide his boner because he had done so much as look at you bend over or stretch. he didn't want to make you uncomfortable but it was a challenge to try and calm down his hormones.
whenever he jacked off, images of you flashed through his mind; your sweet curves and pink lips drove him insane.
last week, you two were cooking together and you had asked him to get the salt. he stood behind you to reach for it on the highest shelf. he was forced to press his crotch against your butt cheeks and his dick hardened against his will. he quickly handed you the salt, excused himself and ran off before you could figure out what had happened.
he might not have known the cause of your sudden outburst but he sympathized with your fury because he had a lot of pent up anger towards covid as well.
he lay in his bed and tried to focus on the book he was reading but he couldn't tune out the groans coming from the room next to his. he cursed.
'stop it!' he was panicking as he saw a familiar tent forming in his pants. your sounds triggered some weird perverted part of his brain that sent signals right to his genitals. his dick was hardening and he saw no other solution to his problem than to give in to his subconscious desires.
he pulled down his pants just far enough so that his cock had enough room to spring out. it only needed a few strokes before it stood tall and angry. kevin pressed his head into his pillow and moved his hand fast. he wanted to get over with it quickly. he emptied his cum on his stomach while imagining your greedy little mouth being stuffed by his cock. he lay there panting as yet another round of shame flushed over him.
'get yourself together,' he whispered, mentally slapping himself.
***
'do you want to order japanese or italian?' you asked kevin. today was friday which meant it was time for your weekly tradition of ordering take out and watching a movie.
'definitely italian. we've already had japanese for the past four days. I need something else for a change,' kevin complained and shuddered at the thought of having to eat sushi again. the japanese restaurant prepared absolutely delicious food but he just couldn't stand it anymore.
you laughed at his pained facial expression. 'fine, italian it is.'
within twenty minutes the doorbell rang and after about half a minute kevin came back with two huge boxes.
he opened them on the small table situated in front of your couch and the smell of freshly cooked pasta seasoned with basil made your stomach growl.
kevin wanted to dig in already but you stopped him. you had to choose a movie first.
'let's watch tall girl. I saw everyone hate on it on tiktok,' you suggested.
'I think we should watch 365 days, that was all over my for you page as well,' kevin argued. you hadn't heard of it so you weren't sure whether it would be the right movie for you. the rule was that it had to be as bad as possible.
'according to what I have heard, it's apparently even worse than 50 shades of grey,' kevin added which piqued your interest. the both of you had watched 50 shades about two months ago and you were honestly shocked by how awful it actually was. you couldn't understand why everyone had been so obsessed with it when it was first released. if 356 days was really worse, then you'd hit the jackpot. you clapped your hands.
'fine, you win. I swear if the movie isn't as horrible as you say it is then you owe me something!' he intertwined his pinky with yours to promise.
watching horrible movies was way better than watching good ones. making fun of bad storylines, stupid characters or horrible editing was one of your favorite past times.
'I guess I'll have to add are you lost, baby girl to the top 10 worst lines ever spoken. who thought ah yes this is sexy, let's have him repeat it over and over again', you complained, shoving some pasta into your mouth.
'so he's like I won't do anything without your permission while he is literally groping her boobs against her will, like make it make sense, massimo', added kevin, ruffling his hair in frustration. he almost completely forgot about the food.
'so let me get this straight: he drugged her, kidnapped her, tied her up, hung up a painting of her just because he saw her face when his dad was shot?'
'totally relatable.' both of you giggled.
you were enjoying complaining about the plot. it was horrible.
there were plenty of erotic scenes but they were honestly so funny and kinda gross that you could bare it without really being affected by them. kevin, on the other hand, had placed a pillow over his hard-on to hide the embarrassing fact that these terrible, smutty scenes had turned him on.
and then the infamous boat scene came.
massimo and laura had a huge fight, she fell of the boat, he saved her and now she was suddenly so in love with him that she begs him to fuck her. which he does.
you felt your panties become increasingly wet as the couple had steaming hot sex.
'this is embarrassing but I'm so horny,' you admitted but in a way that should have suggested that you meant it as a joke. something about this statement stirred something in kevin.
'well, what can I say?' he replied and lifted the pillow. your pupils widened at the sight of your best friend's bulge.
his eyes darkened and he looked at you with lust clearly written on his face. you reciprocated his stare with the same intensity. you tried to focus on his dark brown orbs instead of his boner but the image you had just seen was present in your mind.
his gaze shifted to your lips and, before you knew it, kevin climbed above you and pressed your back flat onto the couch.
your lips locked and you immediately buried your hands in his hair to pull him closer. you moved in sync, his lips fitting perfectly onto yours. you bucked your hips up against his crotch and earned a moan from kevin. he opened his eyes in shock as realization hit him. he quickly pulled away and jumped off the coach.
'I'm so sorry, y/n. I shouldn't have just done that. I don't know what came over me,' he apologized profusely, staring at his feet. did he really think that you didn't want this?
'give me your hand,' you told him and held out your hand.
'why?' he raised his eyebrows in confusion. you rolled your eyes.
'just do it.'
you took his hand and led it to your crotch.
'what are you- oh my god.' your juices had completely soaked through your panties and your sweatpants. 'you are so wet.'
'for you,' you added. 'there's no need to apologize. I'm literally begging you to continue.'
you didn't have to say that twice before he pulled you closer to him by your hips and engaged you in another desperate kiss. his hands were groping your butt while you let yours slide under his hoodie. you felt his naked skin and toned abs, as you rubbed his stomach. you lowered your hands and bravely palmed his boner through his clothes.
'y/n,' he hissed out against your lips. you hooked your thumbs in the elastic of his pants and underwear, and pushed the material down to his thighs. he struggled to get them off.
you stroked his hard dick as he slipped his hand into your panties to massage your pussy at the same time.
he slipped one finger inside and began working it in and out. you finally were getting the relief you had been desperately craving for for so long. kevin was skilled and your walls were trying to swallow his slim finger. you were quickly coming close to your orgasm after having abstained for more than a year. you pulled his hand out.
'I bet you can make me come even better with your dick,' you challenged kevin.
'you bet I will.' he was confident.
'let me just look for a condom.' he was already turning away to go search in his room but you held him back by the arm.
'forget about it. I'm on the pill and I want you raw. I want you to come inside me and not spill into a stupid condom.'
the idea of this sounded very tempting to kevin. he picked you up and threw you back onto the couch, drawing your hips closer to him so he could pull off all the pieces of clothing that were hindering him from accessing your pussy.
he propped up his arms next to your sides and spread your thighs apart. strings of arousal were hanging from your folds and he saw your hole desperately clench around nothing. his dick hurt from how much he wanted to finally be inside of you. he wanted to find out how close he had been able to imagine how you would feel around him.
your hole took him in easily, welcoming him happily by embracing it tightly. kevin swore he could've cum right here and there.
he went slow at first to give you a chance to adjust but you were already fully ready, rocking your hips forward to meet his thrusts.
he crashed your mouths together and you kissed him like he was oxygen and you were short of air. you smiled and your eyes rolled back, satisfied with how things had played out today and the prospects of coming looked fairly promising.
desperate for release, kevin picked up the pace, his eyes closed while fucking into you like a horny animal. he couldn't help himself and all the 'faster's and 'harder's spilling from your mouth only encouraged him to drive himself deeper into you.
you wrapped your legs around his torso in an attempt to regain the control you were losing.
'fuck fuck fuck,' you cursed, feeling your muscles starting to contract. kevin brushed away some hair that was stuck to your sweaty forehead.
'it's fine, I'm coming too,' he announced and it took only a few more thrusts before a body shaking orgasm flushed over you, making you see only white. this drove kevin over the edge too and he spilled inside you, filling you up with his hot cum. he continued to slowly ease his dick in and out of you, fucking his semen right back into you until you had ridden out both of your orgasms. he let himself fall onto the couch right next to you, panting hard.
'I very much needed this,' you sighed in content.
'same, I wasn't sure whether I could hold out any longer without having a proper orgasm.' he watched his cum drip out of you.
'we should've thought of this sooner,' you said. 'this was a great idea.'
kevin hummed in agreement.
***
so now you and kevin were having sex on a regular basis, your high score being five times in a day. it felt good to finally live out your sexuality and not having to restrict yourself. sure, you guys did it more than necessary but it was a great way to pass time and it felt fucking amazing.
today you had done it in the shower after waking up, then on the kitchen counter and you had just finished having sex in his bed.
he was spooning you from behind, his cock still placed inside of you. he nuzzled his nose into your neck.
'stop, that tickles,' you chuckled.
'sorry.'
after a while of comfortable silence you heard him let out a big sigh.
'what's wrong?' you asked as he pulled out of you. you turned around to be able to look at him.
'I don't think I can do it like this anymore,' he confessed.
'what do you mean?' you asked. 'are you talking about us having sex?'
he nodded. your heart dropped and you started feeling dizzy. you tried to search for answers in his eyes but he avoided looking at you.
'w-why?' you stuttered, trying to hold back the tears that were welling up in your eyes.
'it was amazing at first,' he started and finally raised his head to meet your gaze, 'and I went into it without much thought. I went crazy during quarantine and began fantasizing about having sex with you. then it became reality but now I understand that was probably wrong of me. I've always thought of myself as a gentleman, yet I slept with you without much thought. you see, my issue is this…'
suspense hung in the air and you were impatiently waiting for him to get to the point.
'I like you.'
you quietly gasped in surprise. you had been expecting him to say you were bad at sex and that he regretted everything but not this.
'I shouldn't be sleeping with you unless you were my girlfriend,' he finished off his ramble. you felt immensely relieved.
'do you want me to?' you asked him.
'want you to what?' kevin was confused. he had been a hundred percent sure you'd immediately jump out of the bed in disgust when he confessed.
'be your girlfriend. after all, I like you too, you moron.' you realized that you had known this for a while. you might have even been crushing on your best friend since way before the pandemic struck but it was kind of hard to track your feelings. still, you were sure you liked him too. now that he had admitted his feelings, you were able to admit yours not only to him but to yourself as well.
'wow, I didn't expect this,' kevin confessed surprised. you laughed.
'yeah, we should've realized this sooner.' he pulled you closer and kissed you. it was different than the other times. his lips moved softly against yours, in contrast to all of your rough and passionate kisses you had exchanged these past few weeks. he conveyed his emotions through the kiss.
'you're ready again?' you groaned as you felt kevin's dick harden against your upper thigh. he chuckled.
'sorry, you just turn me on so much.'
so then you did it for the fourth time. that day, you set a new record of having sex six times. you might have been happy now but still just as horny.
fic title: the girl with flowers in her bones
Izumi learns she has a Quirk age six when the weird bump on her shoulder is inspected by a doctor who cuts it open to reveal a pretty flower.
Said flower quickly changed and becomes deadly, nearly killing a nurse before it’s destroyed.
No one knows how it got there but now people know about it. At first Izumi is happy. She has a Quirk.
Then she isn’t.
“It’s a useless Quirk!” Kacchan taunts her. “Perfect for a useless girl like you! Flowers under the skin! Pathetic!”
Kacchan burns her shoulder and she goes home crying.
Later a flower develops where she’s been burned and after some quiet conversation with Inko about how her husband had left because of Izumi’s Quirkless status and Izumi had heard it, they figured it out.
The flowers bloom when someone hurts her. They bloom and the doctors do a scan revealing many more flowers all over her- some were small and no one could see them. Little hurts the doctors theorized.
They still had to be removed. Izumi has been getting slower, becoming more exhausted each day. It’s the flowers.
Izumi numbly lets it happen.
But it happens again. And again.
Flowers bloom because people keep hurting her. They turn deadly when exposed to the air.
“Freak, monster, liar-“ it’s all shouted at her by her class. Kacchan leads the charge.
His flowers are always an orange lily. Hatred.
Izumi wonders if it means him or her who hates the other. When it becomes a sweet pea, she has a feeling she knows why she is receiving a goodbye.
She stops growing flowers for him. Because she knows she will only get pain from him, because he is no longer one she believes to be a friend.
“The flowers are signs of betrayal,” she changes the classification. “I can only be hurt by those I do not think would hurt me, those I trust. Once I stop trusting or believing they will not hurt me the flowers stop.”
Her mother sobs upon hearing it. Inko then goes and terrifies the Bakugou family, promising that unless Kacchan leaves her alone Inko would go after them.
Kacchan doesn’t listen.
So Inko slaps them with a lawsuit she wins. It’s enough for Izumi to go to a new school where she sits quietly and doesn’t talk.
There people whisper still but it’s sad whispers.
“Her Quirk hurts her.”
“No, it’s people hurting her which sets off her Quirk.”
“She’s so quiet.”
Izumi just works. The only one she trusts is her mother. Inko who tries so hard not to hurt her, who is honest and open. Who gives her books on flowers and smiles.
When Inko hurts Izumi she leaves violets and lavender. And they’re always small, so small. Small hurts, being too honest with her daughter.
Izumi loves her mother for it.
Izumi grows and soon she finds herself applying for UA. She wants to be a hero and her mother frets and admits she isn’t sure if Izumi can do but the two have researched and researched and well, they think they can figure a way out. Sports festival- she just needs to beat all the other students.
She thinks she can. The money they won from the lawsuit had helped Izumi not only get into a new school but also got her into a martial arts studio. Her mother insisted.
Probably was upset with how many flowers Izumi grew from cuts and burns and bruises. Those were the bigger ones, when they were left on purpose. They pushed against the skin, looked strange.
Funny, Izumi noticed that she didn’t gain flowers sparring.
“It’s probably based on intention. When you gain flowers from bruises or cuts and they’re from people doing it to hurt you and betray you, they come as flowers. But when it’s done as a fight or a spar it’s on purpose still but it’s not a betrayal of yourself.” Her Quirk therapist theorizes.
It makes sense.
Izumi goes to UA after failing the entrance exam and ends up in 1C where she finds herself meeting a boy who is like her. Sharp and broken and hurt.
Shinsou is a friend and she finds herself chuckling at his comments.
Their friendship only blooms truly though when she meets Kacchan again. He sees her and attacks, screaming. She fights back. Shinsou speaks and stops Kacchan and Izumi looks at him, seeing something similar back.
The situation ends with Izumi in the principal’s office telling her story. She looks him in the eyes tiredly.
Kacchan is removed from UA- apparently, the lawsuit hadn’t been included in his application.
“It was when he was ten!” His mother tries.
“It still happened and you lied,” Nezu tells her. Izumi isn’t supposed to be there but she went to the office to pick up some papers.
She thinks her homeroom teacher arranged it.
“The papers are supposed to show us if we need to watch out students for anything. You lied on the application.”
Izumi doesn’t know what to think as she slides away. She hasn’t seen Kacchan in years. Hasn’t spoken to him.
Yet he still tried to attack her. He hasn’t learned anything.
Izumi has left him behind. The pain he caused ended any relationship between them.
He is a child. He can learn, if he wishes.
She feels as if she is choking when she runs into someone.
“Ah,” the person says and she blinks at a girl with red and white hair. It’s long and in a braid as she stares at Izumi. There’s a burn scar on her face and as Izumi looks into her eyes she sees the same sort of pain Izumi has.
The girl nods and leaves and Izumi stares after her in confusion.
Then she has to head to class and Shinsou and it’s a mess.
A flower blooms under her cheek as she speaks and she wonders if it’s from the shock someone attacked her at UA or it’s because she always hoped Kacchan would change the longer she left him.
“It’s not the same.” She tells Shinsou. “I was in hell until I was ten and then just isolated after.”
“It’s close,” Shinsou tells her. He touches her cheek and she closes her eyes. “It’s growing?”
“Yeah. It used to be orange lilies. It might be the same now.”
It is. It’s removed by Recovery Girl and Izumi breathes and doesn’t try to think.
She doesn’t know what to think about anything.
She thinks in a way that expelling him was to much. She understands that they lied, that they removed the evidence of the trial. But did they truly know that it counted?
Kacchan is a child and needs to learn things.
At the same time, he tried to attack her.
Her mind feels muddled and confused and Shinsou tries to help but it’s different for him. His bullies were cruel and never stopped and yet he never expected it either to stop.
You can only be betrayed by a friend.
He tries but they fight and eventually he yells that she’s worthless if she wishes to let a boy who hurts her back into UA.
She flinches and he does too.
Shinsou reaches for her but she leaves, feeling sick.
Izumi wanders UA campus after that- a week after the Kacchan incident- a week after the USJ got invaded. With Kacchan in the office the class hadn’t gone to USJ, something all of them expresses relief about.
Izumi wanders and then runs into the red and white girl again. She’s training in the gym that all students are allowed to Izumi wandered to it out of habit. Usually she and Shinsou train- Shinsou finally accepting that he needs to train his body.
He’s not with her though, and she feels her shoulder ache.
Shinsou didn’t mean it, he was angry and didn’t understand. Izumi gets it.
But it still was a hurt.
“... are you okay?” The girl asks and Izumi blinks, realizing she’s been standing in the gym staring off into space.
“I’m fine.” She says. “I got into a fight with my friend.” The girl looks at her and Izumi sighs.
“My Quirk lets me know when I’ve been hurt,” Izumi explains. “The hurts become flowers under my skin. Ever hurt, physical, emotional, mental, minor or major.” Izumi sighs.
“... you were the one Bakugou attacked, the reason we did not go to the USJ.,” The girl says calmly.
“We were friends once. He hurt me badly, and we stopped. He tried again, my mom sued him and his family and they didn’t put the trial in his transcripts. So he’s been expelled and I just… I feel bad for him. He’s hurt me but I cared for him once and is it fair that he was a child when this happened and he’s still himself a child?” Izumi sighs. “Sorry. I-“
“I have similar feelings to my brother and mother.” The girl offers. Her face is slightly blank. She looks at Izumi, cocking her head slightly. “My father is not a nice man and he’s only stopped hurting us due to blackmail my eldest brother has given. I’m under the custody of my second eldest brother. My other siblings were deemed unsuited and my mother is in a mental health institute.”
“Oh!” Izumi blinks. “You didn’t-“
“You told me.” The girl shrugs. “I’m Todoroki Shouto.”
“Midoriya Izumi.”
It’s the start of something.
From the hurt Shinsou dealt jasmine is dug from Izumi’s skin and he apologizes over and over again. She tells him it’s not okay but she understands he didn’t truly mean it.
It makes her sad still.
She and Todoroki meet from time to time in the gym, speaking. Sometimes Shinsou joins them, sometimes not. He wishes to keep his Quirk private, wishing to get into the hero course like Izumi wishes.
Todoroki is kind, Izumi finds. She’s standoffish and blunt but she’s kind.
Her story is a sad one, told over gym meetings. Her father is Endeavour and he wished to overcome All Might. He had children to force it, and the abuse he placed his family through broke her mother.
Todoroki loves her mother. She loves her dearly but cannot face her.
“I used to blame myself, thinking it might be my fault she burned me. Natsuo, my brother, he got me into therapy and I’ve learned it wasn’t. I was a child, it was not on me. And yet my mother is ill.” Todoroki explains. “I care deeply for her but… I can’t face her right now. Because I have learned it is not my fault what she did and I have to adjust.”
Her brother, her eldest brother Touya, is a different story.
“He blamed me for the abuse. Said it was all my fault, hated the fact I was a girl too. Kept going on I was a screw-up, that I was disgusting. He’s in therapy to now but… I don’t talk to him. Ever if I can help it. Natsuo says he’s getting better but he won’t make me do anything. My sister keeps trying to get us to forgive our dad. We don’t want to.” Todoroki tells her. “It’s a mess.”
Todoroki doesn’t know what to do herself. Her brother was young when he became angry, and her mother ill. Neither were fully at fault, and yet she struggles.
It’s nice to talk to someone who understands.
Their friendship grows and Izumi wonders why it feels different then from her and Shinsou.
Yet as she watches Todoroki smile, she thinks she knows.
At the sports festival, Izumi and Shinsou manage to get to the tournament. They manage to claw their way to the semi-finals, determining who will go on to compete for first.
Shinsou insults her, curses her. And then he confesses.
Izumi keeps her mouth shut and shoved him out, even as she feels the flowers begin to bloom.
She does tell him she doesn’t feel the same.
“I know,” Shinsou tells her. “It’s Todoroki. You two smile all the time around each other, you laugh and have fun.” He shrugs sadly. “I just wanted to be honest.
Izumi accepts it, and later she finds the flowers to be yellow tulips.
One-sided love.
Yet first comes the finals, where Izumi screams at Todoroki to use her fire, even as the girl refuses to use it.
“I won’t use his power!” She yells.
“It’s not his! It’s yours!” Izumi cries back.
It’s chaos and destruction and in the end, Izumi has a silver medal.
And she has a smile she treasures.
It’s not love, not yet. But it has a chance to be.
A chance they cultivate, a chance they find becoming stronger and stronger as time goes on. As she and Shinsou enter the hero course, as she fights to protect a boy she barely knows on the streets of Hosu, protecting her hero mentor as well.
It’s a chance she takes, kissing Todoroki after the final exams. Todoroki accidentally burns her in shock and feels horrible.
Izumi treasures the fact a red rose blooms under her skin.
here’s a lighthearted collab born of riffs with the one and only @lydias--stiles. warning: fluff. lots of it.
enjoy!!!
---
"It's decade day!" Julie hollers as she storms into the studio, Alex gasping in delight.
 "Oh! Do a twirl!" She twirls with a giggle. Reggie joins in, excited.
 "Do the worm!"
 Just as she's about to go on the floor, she falters. One, because she can't do the worm. Two, cause she's wearing a dress and no shorts underneath. Sending him an exasperated look, her gaze falls on the third boy who's remained silent all throughout.
 This week is spirit week for the LF Arts seniors, today being Decade Day. Obviously, Julie chose to go for the nineties. Not only does she have a lot of clothes from that era in her closet, but it's a nice homage to her beloved band members. It's a simple look. A flowy, floral dress, fishnets, Dr. Martens, layered necklaces and a bit more eyeliner than usual. Her hair, for once, is allowed to be as messy as possible.
 And Luke? He is speechless.
 "Uh," he stammers, a smile twitching between a grimace and a full on beam. It's as if he has no clue how to act anymore. In the end, he sticks his thumb up, eyes dopey and wide.
 Awkward, Julie focuses back on Alex and Reg. "Okay then... so? Approved? It's 90s?"
 "Hella nineties," Reg confirms, Alex smiling at her in that knowing way. She locks eyes with him, peering. He shakes his head and hums in agreement with the bassist.
 "You look great, Julie." She lets it go. "Thanks. Then I'm off!" Casting one more look at Luke and hiding her disappointment - why didn't he compliment her? - she leaves for school.
 Right as she's at the garden gate, Luke poofs right in front of her. Had she not been used to it, she would've screamed. Instead, a brow quirks up. "
You look rad," he blurts. "Like, really fucking dope. Like, girls I would-" He freezes, red tinging his cheekbones and then saluting at her, disappearing once more.
--
"Girls you would what?" she asks at the end of the day, during a songwriting lull. She doesn't need to explain, a soft smile playing on his lips as he tracks her outfit again. "
Girls I'd like in high school."
 "Oh."
 "Yeah." His eyes avert, scribbling an annotation in his songbook. "Don't sweat it. Kinda digging the 2020 aesthetic too."
 Her smile widens, giddy, cause Luke has a million ways to say he likes her and she loves each one of them. Instead of calling him out for it, she nods and hums and places her head on his shoulder.
 "Let's try that bridge again."
--
A week later, they're digging through some of his clothes. Julie promised that she would slip some of it in the laundry for them even if they don't sweat -- just for the gesture of it all.
 But as they go through garbage bags, she comes across a starchy white shirt with neon orange letters across the front: NIRVANA.
 "Luke, did you know you had this? This one is so cool!"
 She's too busy turning the shirt over to glance at the dark purple SUBPOP RECORDS logo on the back to notice how quiet Luke is. He's just staring at the shirt - for what reason, she doesn't know.
 "That one was from Bobby," he explains, voice suddenly quiet. Instantly, Julie drops the shirt to her lap and tries to gauge how upsetting the reveal is to him. It strikes her with guilt. "That's probably why it's here. I wore it around here all the time and left it here when I spent the nights just as much."
 What does she say to that?
"I'm sorry," is all she can offer. But he still shoots her a smile.
"Don't be. It's sick. You should keep it."
 "But it's-"
 "Anything that's mine is yours, Jules." He nods his head towards the bathroom in the back. "Go try it on. I wanna see it."
Swapping her crop top for the vintage tee, she admires the cool way it drapes across her body in the grimy bathroom mirror.
The fact that Luke wore it a lot causes a thrill in her chest. Is this... him giving her his clothes? Like a boyfriend would? Or is she reading into things?
She probably is. Don't overthink, she emphasises.
A smile blooms on her cheeks and marches back into the studio. She stretches her arms. "What do you think? It's cute, right?!"
 His smile softens, warmth glimmering behind the green. Slowly, he nods and walks towards her. "We don't tuck it in though," he mumbles, pulling at the fabric by her waist and letting it hang loose. "We all had to pretend we didn't care."
 Laughing, she stays in place and hopes the red on her cheekbones isn't visible.
 "Right. Looking sloppy."
 "Looking cool," he bounces back. When he finishes the tugging, he doesn't move away either.
Even though she had done her best not to short-circuit when Luke's fingers lightly grasped the fabric at her waist and started tugging on it -- the current situation was not helping. Because now, he was just standing close, clutching onto the t-shirt like it's anchoring him to her orbit, and she's desperate to press his hands into the curve of her waist.
 "Fine," she relents, a little breathless. "Looking cool."
Glancing down, it's apparent how far the material hangs from her body.
"But do I even need pants for this? Shorts, maybe, but it's more of a dress on me."
 His eyes quickly flicker down to her jean-clad legs, but then back to her. "It's yours now. Whatever you want."
 It doesn't take her long to dart back to the bathroom to try out the new style.
Yeah, Luke's kinda losing his shit, but he also kinda doesn't mind.
 The shirt was nostalgic, but didn't hold any sentimental value. So sure, Julie could have it. Oranges and purples and whites looked good on her anyway.
 Every colour looked good on her.
She's been saying she wanted some more grunge in her wardrobe too. He was doing her a favour.
 A minor detail he forgot about was that Julie was, well, drop fucking dead gorgeous. If it looked nice on him back in 1995, it looked amazing on her now.
 The fabric was well-worn (by him - he let her wear his t-shirt. God, he really didn't think this through) and hung on her body in that effortlessly cool way. His stupid feet had to bring him closer though. Had to thumb the fabric by her waist and feel the heat of her skin as he readjusted the tee. He could almost imagine her parading down the corridor; boots pounding on the linoleum tiles, music blaring from her headphones, fingerless gloves on her hands.
That t-shirt, loose or knotted up or bleached. She'd probably be the hottest girl in school. And then he stayed, cause of course he stayed, and let himself smile in ways that should be dangerous, and let her smile in ways that should get her in trouble. She said something about the length of the top and he replied something non-committal in return.
 He realised his mistake a minute later when she appeared again - - - without her jeans.
Oh.
It was long enough as a dress.
Oh. Fucking oh.
 His smile stuck, though it held a nervous edge. "Looking good, Jules."
 "Thanks," she grinned. "I think I'll wear it to school tomorrow."
 Head rolling back to the ceiling, he withheld a sigh. Yup. Hottest girl at school.
The Search For Marinette Dupain-Cheng
This is my take on my prompt The Search For Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
You know, I always wondered about Marinette taking care of Akumas while overseas. If she takes too long, she’ll scare her loved ones half to death. Can’t rush too much or else she risks losing her miraculous because of it. Since no one is aware of her identity, she doesn’t have anyone to cover for her.  Friends who are unaware of the truth will cover her for so long before they have to fess up.
In salt fics, the class usually doesn’t care where Marinette is on Gotham trips. Here, they give a shit.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In which Lila messes with some signs and Marinette gets lost when she comes back late (via Kaalki) after dealing with an Akuma attack in France.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The two week school field trip in Tokyo was supposed to be an enjoyable experience. There’s booked reservations at classy restaurants, a fancy hotel with a big pool, shows, and tours throughout Tokyo. Lila is most looking forward to the fashion expo. If she doesn’t do something soon, it looks like she’ll miss out on that too. Marinette been missing for two days and Lila is already sick of it.
All because she miscalculated in a spur of the moment plan.
“Marinetteeee! Where are you,” shouts a crying Alya. The girl spots a few tourists and shoves a flier in their faces. Nino joins in with his own fliers. “Have you seen my friend Marinette Dupain-Cheng? Cutest French girl you’ve ever seen with a heart of gold. So kind she’d innocently help a stranger, unaware they’re a bad guy.” The tourists each give a half hearted ‘no’ before speed walking away.
“Walk faster Lila! Marinette can be anywhere.”
Lila puts on a concerned mask. “Of course.”
All this time wasted just because she moved some signs.
She hadn’t meant for Marinette to go missing. Only to buy some time so she can guilt trip Adrien to be her partner for the fashion expo.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The day before, the class went to a big nature park. It’s notable for its many trails. The deeper you went into the park, the denser the trees are. They all partnered up and to her dismay she got Nathaniel instead of Adrien. The best thing about the artist is that he gets so into drawing the sights he doesn’t notice when she wanders off. It gave her more time to plot how to switch partners with the least amount of fuss.
During one of her secret plotting sessions, she heard a very loud conversation farther down the trail she’s on. Rose shouts for Marinette to not split up, and Marinette screams back a blatant lie about wanting to see a moose in the Relaxation Trial. Also to not expect her for forty minutes. Total hypocrite this girl is. ‘We can only be friends if you stop lying.’ Sure, and it’s okay for only Marinette to lie. Everyone else who does so is bad. Can’t even tell Rose you honestly want to ditch her.
When Lila noticed the Relaxation Trail sign nearby, an idea formed in her head. She ducked into a bush to hide. When Marinette ran into the trail and her map fell out of her bag Lila burst into action.
It took a little adjustment to the multiple sign post. It wasn’t too hard as the signs on the pole were already a little loose. Just needed to switch the sign that led back to the meetup with the Reflection Trial sign. According to the map, the Reflection one is a winding trial leading to a dead end. Marinette would be forced to walk all the back as the park employees told them it’s easy to get lost if you go off the trial. Aside from putting some sticks on the map, it was left mostly alone as she wanted her rival to use it to get back to base. She may not have liked Marinette, but she didn’t want anything horrible to happen to her.
By the time it got dark, Marinette still hadn’t gotten back to the meetup point. Forty minutes had already flown by. Lila hadn’t noticed as she was trying to convince Adrien to switch partners and tell everyone it was his idea. If Marinette was here the noisy girl would have interfered.
Rose’s cry of alarm got the others to find out Marinette was missing. The goodie two shoes wasn’t answering Rose’s calls. A quick check near the Relaxation Trial sign revealed Marinette’s map had flown into a bush.
The field trip went downhill from there.
The police were called. Afterwards, it’s discovered the cameras in that area were down much to Lila’s relief. Even though she feels a bit responsible, she’s not admitting to anything. Even if she did confess, it’s not like it’ll help the police. Doing so will get her in huge trouble and gain scrutiny in her actions from then on. How will telling what she did help find Marinette? It’d be for nothing.
When it comes down to it, Lila’s self preservation is above Marinette’s well being.
Some good fun will keep her mind from unpleasant things. Too bad no one besides Lila is interested in the scheduled events. This is a vacation, so going to a few events is a must. The class just want to spend time searching for Marinette. The transfer student wouldn’t have minded hanging up missing posters or spreading the word. This class takes it to another level.
Every waking moment is spent looking for Marinette. Breaks become a treasured time. They walk many miles each day. Max posts missing posters in Japanese forums. Alya bothers the police for updates. Adrien even got Chole (who stayed in Paris) to pull some strings to get more attention in the local news.
Because of Marinette’s disappearance, they have to stay in groups of at least three. No exceptions. So if Lila wants to do anything, she needs to convince any group she’s in to go with her.
It’s more challenging than expected.
Day 5
"Hey guys, why don’t we take our break inside the museum we were supposed to go to? It has air conditioning and we can look at some stuff for a bit while we’re sitting down.”
“Sorry Lila, I’m not in the mood to admire art.”
“I agree with Nathaniel. Just doesn’t feel right.”
Day 8
“Let’s go on the sightseeing tour. We can look for Marinette while we’re on it.”
“No thanks.”
“Nah, a taxi is better as we can choose where to drive.”
Day 10
“.....my leg injury is acting up. It’s okay to leave me here. I don’t mind.”
“No way Lila. We’re not leaving you alone on a bench outside Universal Studios. What if we lose you too?”
“.............”
Day 11
Lila has had it with these people. Reservations and events have been canceled. Solemn, awkward moping. Refusal to do anything but looking for Marinette. The only event left is the one she’s been most looking forward to: the fashion expo. Through some maneuvering and sneakiness, no one remembered to cancel the expo tickets.
There’s no way in hell she wants to miss this event: a lecture by Edna Mode herself. There’s rumors circling the fashion industry the famous designer is going to explore a new clothing line. Along with finding a muse for it.
The previous class activities can be let go without much struggle. Not this one, though. This could be the golden ticket to a very prestigious job. Even more than being a Gabriel model.
There’s a chance things might go right this time. The group is filled by pushovers Adrien, Rose, and Juleka. As long as she stays firm, they’ll go along with her plan.
With the directions in mind, Lila manages to slyly maneuver the group to walk outside Tokyo Big Sight. The sight of the Edna Mode banners hanging outside the arena fills her with excitement.
Lila coughs for their attention. “Guys, it’s time for our lunch break. We need the energy to keep this up.”
Rose reluctantly says, “Oh you’re right Lila. Can you pass out our lunches please?”
“Sure thing.” She reaches into the bag and whoops. There’s conveniently no lunch bags in there. “Oh no guys, there’s only water bottles in here.”
“It’s okay Lila, we can buy some food nearby.” Rose digs out her phone. “Hmm... I think there’s a cheap fast food place nearby.”
“There’s no need to look far. We can just go into the expo. They have to have some food near the entrance.”
There’s silence at her words.
Juleka narrows her eyes. “Why do I feel you just want to go to the expo?”
Lila is surprised Juleka of all people is calling her out. “No, no. It’s just, why walk more when there’s food right here.”
“Lila, do you not care about finding Marinette?,” a sad Rose asks.
“How could you say that? Of course I do! We worked so hard and we deserve a break. Marinette would understand.”
Rose snaps. “Understand? Every minute counts! We might never see Marinette ever again. She could be injured and alone, kidnapped, or worse! If one of us was missing, she wouldn’t give up.”
The fire in Rose’s eyes startles Lila. Never thought she’d see the bubbly girl break her happy persona.
“No one said anything about giving up. Besides, the police are looking-”
“That doesn’t mean we should sit by and do nothing.” Rose tears up. “It’s my fault Marinette is gone. If I didn’t let her run off on her own, she would still be here.”
Juleka gives a comforting hug to Rose.
Adrien speaks up. “I know you don’t like Marinette, but I never thought you would sink so low. It’s one thing if you’re not interested in helping. It’s another to actively interfere in something our friends care about.”
“I d-d-o care. We can pick up search after we eat.” It’s not like Lila wanted to prevent them from searching for Marinette. Ms. Bustier has forbidden anyone from being on their own. So she needed someone to be with her in order to do something.
Lila spent so much time reassuring them, they missed the lecture.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“---Breaking News! A French teenager stopped a missile launch by terrorists. Marinette Dupain-Cheng went missing during her class’ field trip. Miraculously, she disabled their base of operations, rescued a Princess, fought against pirates, escaped on the back of a deer, got their leader to surrender to the authorities-”
“That’s our every day Ladybug.” Alya hugs the TV with tears of joy. “Obviously she’d save the day while missing.” The reporter actually hissed when a stranger tried to tell her to stop hogging the TV. No one attempted removing her after that.
Since Ms. Bustier is currently with the police to bring Marinette back, there’s no one to reign in the partying classmates. Alix somehow convinced the hotel to give them a big complementary celebration cake.
The only person not celebrating is an angry Lila. Glaring at her phone, the headlines riles her up every time she sees it.
Jack-Jack is Edna’s muse. Lol.
To save you a google search, this park mentioned in this fic is made up. It’s based on a bunch nature parks I’ve been to before. Tokyo does have parks and nature trials, though. In case you missed it, an attack happened in the late afternoon and Marinette got back at night (when it got dark) in Japan Standard Time. Keep in mind there is a 8 hour difference between these countries.
With this completed, I can finish chapter two of Dupont’s Worst Nightmare. :)
"You remember when I took you out for milkshakes and you spilled yours all over me? You were wearing that exact same color," Lee said pointing at the dress she was pressing.
"All those years ago, and you still remember that?" Y/n wanted to drown in this tender moment she's having with her husband. Hearing him laugh, his stomach shifting, and his eyes wrinkling.
"How could I? Watching you get all flustered and cute really got me goin’. It's when I knew I was gonna marry ya."
The days have been incredibly warm and beautiful since Y/n had done what she did. It was cruel irony that she was enjoying another day while someone’s body was rotting. The softer moments of life were few and far between these days, but right now she’s offered her a wonderful distraction.
She had taken on more tasks than usual to distract herself from the intrusive thoughts she had. She even accepted a last minute invite to help put on an event at the local rental hall with some of the other mothers in town. It gave her an excuse to look nice and show herself off to anyone who had some doubts about Lee. Things were looking good for him, but there was always something to do to further rehabilitate his image. She always looked her best as the sheriff's wife. Keeping up the appearances exhausted her since they have become more frequent for her. However if she wanted the people to fawn over her lovely family, she had to show up. An arts and crafts event for the kids is also a good chance to get their daughter out of the house.
Teenage Y/n did not see herself becoming a housewife so young. It was unsavory to think about being a homemaker for one of the boys’ at school. She surmised that she would’ve stuck by her original plan if she had not been so lonely. All of Y/n's friends left within a year of graduating high school. She didn't have that many friends to begin with, but she thought that at least one would always be there for her. Rose went to college, and Barbara found a man to marry and moved to upstate New York. Only one stayed for some time, Judith, but she eventually left after having a shotgun wedding. It was selfish of her to think that someone would stay just because she got rejected from the only college she had applied to. Other people had lives and Y/n was just not at the center of them.
The absence of her friends made her pregnancy more lonely. Her baby shower consisted of her family, Lee’s sister, and his co-workers and their wives. None of the women seemed to be fond of Y/n. It always plagued her mind to know if they thought she was too young and stupid or if it was just something else
She found solace in some of the other mother's in town. When she began showing up around to volunteer at bake sales and food drives she expected them to look at her face and then down at her belly and reject her. She is younger than them and feared they'd find her naïve. She had kept to herself for so long that she thought they'd write her off as the sheriff's meek wife.
Y/n didn't get a chance to mingle with anyone prior to her marriage and Lee made it harder by insisting in little ways that she stay in the house. No one was at fault that Lee wanted to keep her to himself. It was possible he did it out of insecurity, but Y/n now speculates that it was because he didn’t want to hear or even see what he may have been doing.
One of the ladies who Y/n only knew by her dark hair and distinct, pointy nose joked that Lee had, "finally let Rapunzel out of the castle." When the other mothers joined into laughter, she felt small. It was only a harmless joke that was steeped in the truth. It took her persistence to no longer wanting to feel alone while being pregnant to get the women to warm up to her, and the did.
"I remember spilling the milkshake, but I was too embarrassed to remember anything else about that night," she admitted.
Lee remembers that night very well. He wishes that she didn't end the night so quickly because she ruined a pair of trousers that could easily be replaced. He had only bought them to impress her, but it didn't take much to get her to swoon over him. No other man was giving her the time of day.
"We should go out to that diner Friday night. Now that we have someone to watch the little one, we don't have to stop by your parents to drop her off anymore. I can just scoop you up and we can have a night together," Lee pressed himself into Y/n's backside. She giggled when his hands lightly danced against her ticklish sides.
Lee had also been aware of the slim moments of intimacy with his wife. He was serious about this race but he truly underestimated how much time and effort he'd have to put into this. But people really did love the old mayor. The only slight Lee had against him was his old age and how some believed that if he kept going then he might run into some health problems. The rumors about him becoming more and more forgetful were minute compared to the dark gossip swirling about Lee though. Some of the people in town would probably vote for a paper bag before Lee.
His biggest fear is that he loses the election and drives his wife away. He could lose the race, but if his wife somehow slipped away, taking their baby with her, he’d drink himself into a stupor. Lee tried his very best to hide his insecurities from her. When he worried, she worried too and it made it much harder for him to plan his way out of whatever hole he is in when he has a hysterical wife to deal with. That's why he'd rather not tell her anything.
Lee also wasn't the young man in his prime anymore, he believed that his good looks were fading, and he has gained a considerable amount of weight. The fear of Y/n just up and leaving him for someone younger than him and riding off to the city always plagued him. The birth of their daughter should've assuaged him, but his self-doubt always lingered like a cloud that made him stick to his vices.
"I've really missed ya honey...missed this body of yours."
Y/n flinched when his hands ran down the front of her body, over her stomach and then circling up back to her breast. Her body has changed considerably since giving birth and the hormonal imbalance left her feeling tired, sad, and alone. Her mother told her that all she had to do was look at her child and she'd feel better, but every time she looked at her little girl all she did was worry. Was she a good mom? Why was her daughter crying so much without much working? Was Lee staying at work for long hours to avoid the crying and her? Did he still find her attractive?
They’re both too busy thinking Lee's mayoral bid to realize they felt the exact same way as each other. If there was any other time that proved they were an extension of each other, it was now, but they were too blind to see it.
"Lee y-you're going to be late for work," her voice was weakened by his lips now nipping at her neck.
"Don't give a damn," he whispered against her skin, inhaling her familiar scent, "just wanna feel my wife."
Today, Y/n felt herself slipping back into her normal self and normal life. She melted into Lee, hoping that maybe they could have a moment to themselves, but they were interrupted by the phone ringing downstairs. Every early morning and late night phone call had her on edge. They never seemed to be about anything important but it hasn't failed yet to make her stomach churn.
Lee groaned and pulled away from her. She watched him disappear to go answer the phone.
It has been nearly two days and the only thing on her mind is what happened after she left that brothel. The anxiety made her feel sick. Hours later after it happened, around 2 a.m., she woke up and darted to the toilet. Lee kept asking her if she was pregnant as he held her hair back while her face was in the toilet. She dismissed his claims, knowing full and well that she was just sickened by her actions.
Lee had not mentioned a death or anything related to that brothel, so had he even been found? Was his death even reported? The girls who worked for him were probably too worried about their own arrest than the death of their abusive boss.
She wiped the look of worry off of her face when she heard his heavy footsteps coming back up the stairs.
"Who was it?"
"Your brother," his tone held disgust, "invited us to dinner on Sunday. He asked to speak to you but I told him you were still sleep."
"Lee!"
"I don't want to hear it," his voice boomed, much more dominant and rough than hers, "I ain't having dinner with him and I don't want to hear your mouth about it."
Y/n stayed silent and watched him grab the police hat resting on the dresser. She hated for him to leave on such a sour note, but she wouldn't dare say anything in fear she might make things worse.
He started towards the door of their bedroom before turning back to his wife, "Sandy supposed to stop by Saturday. I don't know why, so don't ask, but she claims she's comin'. Who knows if she'll stick to her word."
It’s like Lee did that on purpose, as some sort of sick payback for her brother calling. Y/n was not fond of Sandy and did not like to be around her for more than ten minutes. Sandy was a nice girl, a bit unsavory at times, but her husband Carl was a stain on her life. There was something about him that reminded her of the men her mother had warned her about when she was a young teenager; a man with a slick tongue and a creepy air around him. However, she found Carl much more sinister than that. The look in Carl's eyes when he looked at her and flashed her that unsettling smile was imprinted into her brain. They did not come around much, but when they did it was always a traumatic experience for Y/n.
Lee left the room before Y/n could respond. He knows how Y/n feels, but he can’t bring himself to care right now. She’s not going to protest against it because she knows better than that. He focused on the sound of soft babbling from his daughter as he walked into her room.
"Hey you," she looked up at him with her big eyes and her widening smile that made his heart swell, "you gonna be good for your mama? You've been on a mean streak lately and I'd hate to make good on my threat and put you in baby jail."
His daughter reached up and tried to grab at his face. Lee was clean-shaven now, but for the first few months of his daughter's life he had enough hair on his face for her to grab a hold of. It was funny to see how she still tried to grab at his non-existent hair, pinching his skin in the process.
"Miss the beard little lady? You're just like your mama," he kissed her forehead and felt a deep sense of guilt that he had to leave her to go to work. But everything he did was for her and if he believes that the long hours are going to pay off. All of his work is going to pay off when he wins that race.
-
The dress her daughter wore was blush to complement her mother's golden one. She looked around at every single building and person they passed as if it was her first time seeing it again. Her sense of wonder always made Y/n adore her even more. Y/n wondered what was going on in the little mind of her and what sense she made of the world.
She was never fussy when they were out, which was good for Y/n, but also good for the rehabilitation of Lee's image. He has such a good daughter and pretty wife, he must be doing something right. Every single person who stopped to say hi or coo at how cute her baby was, Y/n wondered if they have ever said something negative about Lee. Y/n never received weird stares or grimaces that would make her paranoid, but she still felt on edge. She always wanted to be on her best behavior, especially when Lee was not with her.
Y/n was forced to be her normal self; cheerful even though her mind was reeling over two nights ago, her sister-in-law, and what the conversation between Lee and her brother this morning may have sounded like. When one of the toddlers thrusted their drawing her face she feigned an excited smile. She hoped the mother's didn't notice her lackluster attitude.
"Y/n , can I speak with you?"
It was Sally's voice that called to her. She looked at the blonde woman with a bit of panic on her face. She thought that she was going to get chewed out by her, especially since she pulled her far away from the other children, and her daughter who was being held by one of the recently graduated girls.
"Is everything alright Sally?"
"I should be asking you that. Why am I hear things about Mrs. Blackwater sayin' she seen your Lee dumpin' bodies in the river behind her house?" At that moment Y/n could not hear her despite her lips still moving. Her blood ran cold at that last name being mentioned. It's been years, close to a decade, since she thought about that old woman, but the mere mention of her name brought Y/n back to a place she didn't want to be.
"I-I...I don't know what she's talking about-"
"My husband and I made a sizable donation to your husband's campaign, and it would be a shame to see him lose," the sugary voice and fake smile on Sally's face made Y/n's stomach ache. She didn't like how some of these women could be so fake because it always made her question if they really liked her or not. But Sally didn't care what Y/n would respond with, all she cared about was her and her husband's reputation, "you're not that much younger than me so you remember them days when that old bitch would be on her porch spewin’ whatever nonsense she could think if at any girl who walked on her sidewalk. No one likes Mrs. Blackwater, but don't think for a second they won't consider what she has to say about that husband of yours. I've heard too many whispers about him and I don't like it. I'll pull my endorsements if you don't fix this shit."
Was murdering one person not enough to save her husband from losing this race? The brothel owner was one person, someone who would not be missed by many people, but could she do something about Mrs. Blackwater?
'That's not right, that's not right.'
No matter how much she tried to shake that evil idea off, it kept creeping into her mind. Murder was the unlikely tool she had in her arsenal all along. It was morally wrong to kill someone, but her victim and the potential one had not been nice people. Mrs. Blackwater's stain on this Earth paled in comparison to Reed's, but that woman made her blood run much colder than the brothel owner.
It was so ironic that Mr. Blackwater was a beloved man in town because no one could stand his wife. They knew not to cross her path and that pies and home cooked meals would not abate her disdain for people. A man who was so kind and friendly was married to the most antisocial person Y/n has ever come across. But he never wasted a moment to sing her her praises. Y/n remembers one of her sons and he was mean just like his mother; a school yard bully that would beat up on anyone he saw as weak and alone. Y/n was lucky that he knew she had an older brother to protect because the Blackwater’s youngest boy never tried anything with her. However, she was not lucky enough to escape the wrath of Mrs. Blackwater. The irony was that she probably would've been better off being a victim of her son. That woman was nasty and wasn't afraid to show it.
"Don't you two get tired of dressing like whores?"
They had to pass the Blackwater house to get to Rose's house. Her house used to be at the end of the street before it got burned down, leaving the Blackwater house the last one on the street. It was nice, and had a big, big porch that Mrs. Blackwater always sat on for most of the day. She didn't stop at calling them just "whores'' and "wenches" either. Y/n never could understand why they always took the brunt of that woman's anger. Rose went home in tears every time she walked by that house. Maybe Y/n's anger is displaced, but she blames Mrs. Blackwater for why Rose was so eager to leave. There wasn't much here, but Rose always promised she'd stay. But ever since they encountered Mrs. Blackwater's misery, Rose had changed.
She could imagine that same venomous voice saying awful things about her husband, "Lee Bodecker put that body in the water. I saw it with my own two eyes!"
The thought of her husband killing someone shouldn't sound so crazy, especially after being able to do it herself. But her Lee can't be a cold-hearted man who slept with whores, murdered people, and ruined people lives. He was so sweet to her, he wasn't always was, but his touch was so soft against her skin, how could he hurt anyone?
Y/n had just turned 19 when she met Lee. He was a deputy, closer to being the sheriff than either of them knew at the time. Their age difference scared her somewhat; she only gave him a chance so she could distract herself from reminding herself that she should be finishing up the last year of being a college freshman. She had the grades and thought her test scores were satisfactory but she got rejected from Indiana University. Her father told her that there is always next year, but her mother told her she should just figure out a new plan.
It was the uncertainty and loneliness that made her get closer to Lee. He was close to his late 20s, unmarried, and he didn't exactly make his loneliness unknown.
He left a sour taste in her mouth in their very first encounter; pulling her over as an excuse to get her number. She gripped the steering wheel to stop them from shaking so much. She only had her license for a few weeks and made sure to be careful in fear of this exact situation happening. His slick talk didn't make her feel that much better either. She was too shaken up to even look at him in the eye or take in any of his features. She just remembered seeing his badge the words DEPUTY SHERIFF etched into it.
Lee let her off, saying she had a "pretty face" and that he hoped to see her around. She didn't think much about their interaction the days after he pulled her over, but she began to see him more than before. Y/n couldn't remember a time she had seen him prior to that one night and found it odd that his face kept reappearing. (He later told her that it was fate, but it was not. Lee purposefully put himself in her orbit. It was not hard to learn what her routine was and when she went out.)
She was weary about his advances, unsure how to react to them because the most experience she's had was with two boys, only one of whom she kissed. Their first date was not by choice either, he just decided to stick by her side while she was at the local dinner by herself.
And he has always stuck by since then, always hovering around her until she realized he was not going to go away and it’d be futile to ignore him. Lee never gave her the chance to make the decision for herself, but his girl was so sweet and she just needed a few cushy words for her to understand that this was where she belonged.
"Do your parents know you're out here meeting me?" It had only been a matter of time before she learned to be very obedient to him; always accepting his plans, even if it meant sneaking out of the house in the midnight hour. The smirk he wore on his face every time he watched her walk up to him left her feeling enchanted.
"Don't talk too loud. If my brother hears you he'll kill you and have my head."
She wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her front to him. Lee groaned at the feel of her breast against his chest. She was so nervous to do anything with him that she only let him kiss her. It was fine for a while, but he had grown tired of waiting. Tired of being teased by her in those soft, pink dresses that would ride up whenever she had to bend over even just a little bit. He couldn't believe how naive she was to believe he was always dropping things like a pencil or his wallet on accident; he just wanted to see her bend over for him just for a chance to peak at what pretty panties she wore that day.
Getting her to come out with him at night was surprising, but the idea of riding in his patrol car was so alluring. The sparkle in her eyes gave him an overwhelming sense of machismo; enough for him to realize he just needs to take what she wants.
The full moon hung in the clear sky and they had a vast, open field in front of them. He took her just to the edge of the county that was secluded and was his favorite spot to go for some quiet (or getting his dick sucked). The moonlight and a few street lights that were actually working were the only light they had.
"You look so pretty today baby," his hand rested on her thigh the whole entire drive but only now did he actually move it to stroke her skin, "you always look so pretty for me. I'm the luckiest man in town."
Y/n giggled and her face felt like it was burning up. No one had taken the time to compliment her sweetly, and that was obvious to Lee. He cradled her face in the palm of his hand and watched her turn into putty. His hand inches closer to her heat causing her to jump like his hand was made of actual fire.
"Relax baby...just relax for me," Lee planted his face in her neck and nipped at it. His lips tickled the skin on her neck and she did her best to suppress her giggles but they spilled from her lips. Lee smirked against her skin, "there she is. There's my girl."
She let a laugh slip through, but she suppressed the moan that was stuck in her throat. It was so odd to feel him on her neck but it was an unfamiliar feeling that she liked. His hand never left her thigh, in fact he had sneakily moved it closer to her sex. She felt ashamed about the growing wetness that she could feel sticking to her.
Lee grabbed her hand and placed it right over the bulge straining in his pants. She let out a heavy sigh when she realized what it was. "That's how hard you make me. You making me so fucking hard girl," he growled in her ears. This was something only the senior girls from her high school could dream about when they talked about hooking up with their boyfriends. None of them were even half the man Lee was, and here he was: hard and ready just for her.
"L-Lee," her voice broke into bits, her body overheating from Lee taking control, "wait, can we slow down?"
"You taste so sweet baby," he continued kissing her, ignoring her until she was pulling away from his grasp. "What's wrong girl?" The furrowing of his brow made her worry that she pissed him off. Lee was all she had, he convinced her to put away her dream of going to college and stay here for him, if she ran him off then she'd have nothing else.
"I'm just nervous. I’ve never done this before Lee," she hoped her honesty went a long way and would make him take her home instead. But all it did was make him readjust himself in his seat and pull away from her rather coldly.
Lee was irritated with her, she got him all hard, but he did his best to temper his anger. She's lucky that he was on the job all day and didn't have a chance to drink yet or else she'd see the side of him that he purposely hid from her.
"Don't be nervous baby. You know I love you right?" She nodded her head with her wide eyes holding a sad look in them, "good girl. Let me show you something."
Lee patted his lap and Y/n looked at him with apprehension.
"C'mon now," he patted his lap once again, this time with a bit of impatience in his voice.
Y/n awkwardly shifted over the center console of his patrol car and found herself in his lap. His strong arms wrapped around her waist and he rested his chin on her shoulder. She tried to ignore how his bulge poked at her slit through her cotton panties.
"You ever been in a car this nice before?"
"Uh-uh," she shook her head, somewhat distracted by the beautiful interior and his cock poking at her. The only car she's ever drove was the shitty one that was passed down to her. Lee's patrol car doesn't look like it's more than five years old.
Seeing her look in wonder at the dash made him even harder. He began to rut against her, trying to feel as much friction as he could, but it wasn't enough to satiate a man who has been waiting a few months for this.
He sat back and started fumbling with his pants. Y/n heard the sound of the metal on his belt and unzipping of his pants but she froze on top of him instead of moving. She grabbed the steering wheel and held onto it as tight as she did the night he first laid eyes on her. Her alarm rose when Lee lifted her up a little to push her panties to the side.
"Lee what are you doing-"
"Shhh baby don't worry, I got you."
The sensation of his head poking at her slit and her sliding down him was unspeakable. She was uncomfortable with his splitting size, but he didn't move her at all, trying to give her some time to adjust but it was just so hard for him to restrain himself. She was so tight and warm, and definitely untouched by any man. "Fuck," he mumbled warmly in her ear. She felt him wrap his arm tighter around her, almost as if he was afraid she was going to somehow run away from him. Even if she wanted to, she wouldn't know her way back home and she'd be stuck out here. She was safe with Lee even though she found herself feeling more confusion than pleasure.
Those girls from her high school days had to been lying to her, sex didn’t feel all that magical; his patrol car was not a romantic place to lose her virginity. Lee rocked her on his cock slowly as she tried to find the same pleasure that he was experiencing. His heavy breath was on her ear as she stared straight up into the night sky.
"You feel so good. You feel so fucking good baby."
His pleasure is what made her want to stay on top of him like this. She cared for him so much and she just wanted Lee to be proud of her. The "good girl" that continuously spilled from his lips sounded like a hymn she wanted to memorize.
Y/n let Lee have his way with her body. He groped her breast through her dress and then let his hands graze her sides. She wondered what he was doing when his hand slipped into her panties, but the warmth that shot through her made her mind go blank. Lee rubbed at her sensitive bud and she constricted around him. Instead of whimpering, she was now fully moaning; the way it felt so good had put her discomfort into the back of her mind.
"Oh fuck -- move your hips girl. You feel so good."
He rubbed her harder as a reward for swirling her hips against him. She began to bounce on top of him and he no longer had to do the hard work, just lean back and feel her engulfing him in her warmth.
"Lee," she whimpered, unsure of herself, but then she called his name again, "Lee," as if to let him know that he was the one giving her pleasure.
Lee knew he wasn't going to last, not when she was as tight and wet as she was. He can't remember the last time he took someone's virginity, nor when he was this hard. It was clear to him that she had no idea what she was doing by the way she bounced on him without a rhythm. Sometimes she'd stall herself before moving fast again. It didn't irk him, he found it endearing that she was so inexperienced. He was going to have to show her a lot of things and get her to fuck him to his liking.
Y/n gasped when Lee pulled out of her and jerked himself until white liquid was splashing on the back of her panties. She'd have to wash them before her mother saw the stain.
"You did so good baby, taking my cock like a big girl," he placed a sloppy kiss on her cheek, still trying to catch his breath while she shifted on top of him. He put himself away and nudged her towards the empty passenger seat. She was silent the entire time he drove her home. A sense of pride filled her because she had made Lee feel good. The sex itself was too weird to describe as being good, but she liked how she felt inside when he told her she felt good and that she made him cum. That's all she wanted to do was please Lee.
-
Saturday morning proved to be another beautiful day. It seems as if Summer didn't want to leave just yet even though October was near. There wouldn't be many more opportunities for Lee to make his impressions and sway the last few voters not on his side.
The event had been boring at most, but Sally's words really shook her up. No one in town would deny that Mrs. Blackwater has always been a bitter women, but they also wouldn't necessarily turn the other cheek if she starts going around saying that Lee Bodecker is a murder. Y/n's new problem made her forget about the decaying brothel owner. She doesn't care how mean the whole town thought the old woman was, she wanted her gone.
"You slept in. Did I tire you out last night?" Lee had the same smug smirk on his face that has been imprinted on her brains since their early years together.
Y/n nodded even though it wasn't completely truthful. She slept so hard because she's mentally spent and it was finally catching up with her body. Lee had been too distracted to notice how distant she was last night and how she is still distant now. In his eyes, as long as she was eager to lay under him then everything was fine.
Most mornings started like this: Y/n waking up next to her still tired husband and waiting to hear her daughter crying for her. He trudged out of bed and she heard him beat a path down the hall to the bathroom. There was still no sound of her daughter needing her, giving her some time alone. It was nearly silent except for the faint sound of the shower going. She breathed deeply and found herself feeling serene. Just five minutes without the memory of Sally threatening to pull her and her husband's support taunting her.
"Y/n! Do you not hear her crying?" Lee held a stern look on face, he must have been standing there for a few minutes. His towel was wrapped around his waist, stomach hanging over the soft white cotton, "what's wrong with you girl?"
She shook her head, "nothing Lee. I'm just still a lil' tired."
His face softened at her explanation but he nodded his head towards the door so she could take care of their daughter. Y/n hurried not to upset him for the rest of the day.
Their baby was just fussy and hungry. Her little eyes weren’t that red so she hadn’t been crying for long. “You hungry?” Her daughter somewhat understood what her mother was saying because her eyes went wide. The nightgowns Lee had bought Y/n made it much easier for her to pull herself out of them to feed their girl. She could see her daughter calming down, eyes closing once again. Y/n thought about keeping her daughter with her but she needed to rest in her crib. She placed her down gently as not to disturb and wake her again. At least one person in this family deserves peace.
"Back to sleep?" Lee's voice startled her, but the hand on her hip soothed her. Y/n nodded, never taking her eyes away from her girl. "Precious isn't she? So sweet when she's not fussin' about."
"She only fusses because she's teething, and she misses her father."
"Honey, you know why I'm at work longer than usual. It's for her. It's for you. It's for us. Do you know how much better her life, your life, is going to be better after I win that race?"
"But what if you don't win?"
Y/n rarely questions Lee, not even over small things, so he was confused as to why she was questioning him now. Did his wife not believe in him? She worried a lot, but when he first ran for sheriff, she was not this doubtful.
"What are you trying to say?"
"Lee, I didn't say that. It's just that people been talkin' and -"
"And you believe them? So my own wife doesn't think I'm going to win because a few people can’t got some things wrong?”
Y/n flinched as his voice got louder. The brashness of his voice woke their girl up from her attempt to fall into a deep sleep. Instead of waking up and silently looking around, the first thing that came from her was a cry. It served as a way for Y/n to escape Lee's wrath. She pulled her crying daughter into her arms and held her close to her chest. One glance at Lee's face and she knew he was going to deal with her later. But for now he just sighed and walked out of the nursery.
"Aww don't cry honey. It was just your daddy, okay? He's not mad at you sweetheart. Don't cry...don't cry," Y/n's voice cracked and tears slipped down her face. Her pleas were more for herself than they were her daughter.
Lee's hesitance to address the obvious problems he faces in regards to the election made Y/n feel uneasy. All she wanted was for her husband to just outright say he never did those things, but he never did. And if Y/n has resulted to murder, then she knows deep down that he did some of those things that people allege. There were just things that were too loud to drown out. The business when it came to solving a string of murders that happened a few years ago and people talking about him didn't affect him when he was going for re-election. There was no one else that had a strong enough presence to go against him and the folks in town figured that Lee gets enough done as far as crime goes, even though he could do more.
Y/n should be tired of trying to clean up his mess when he was so short with her. However it is not entirely his fault; he does not know. Maybe one day he'll learn and be grateful for what she has done for him.
-
Lee just couldn't stop reminding her that Sandy and Carl were coming over. It's almost as if he knew it got under Y/n's skin and used it against her after she hurt his feelings this morning. He's a sensitive one, even though he hides it well from most people, but her moment of vulnerability wasn't meant to hurt him. Though if their conversation had progressed any further, she might have spilled what she did to the brothel owner. She may want to believe Lee would be proud of her, but she cannot be so sure. It's sickening to assume that someone would be proud of a murder. She quickly began to feel dirty after a few minutes with her own thoughts ever since Lee snapped at her.
"Can you clean up? We're going to be having guests soon."
There were just a few baby toys on the floor but it was best not to make things worse with Lee (even though those toys were going to end up in the same place anyway).
Lee stepped outside as Y/n put their daughter in her high chair. Ever since her birth Lee was mindful not to smoke in the house; it was one of the house rules Y/n proposed that he was surprisingly very accepting of. She had taken away most of the things that he used to destress: alcohol, cigarettes, and candies.
She heard the motor of a car and Lee's muffled voice. She knew it was them, but hoped they were just making a short trip over. It's not like Lee likes Carl, and he's constantly complaining about his trouble making sister. Y/n hates that Sandy uses their daughter as an excuse to come over. She wouldn't mind if Sandy came alone, but she hated Carl around her little girl and she's sure Lee feels the same way.
Y/n's mother had gotten their daughter such a stupid gift when she was born. A baby that's not even half a year old yet didn't need a toy that had a million little pieces they could easily choke on, but of course it was her favorite thing to place with. Lee never cleaned up the mess, it was always Y/n who was doing it. She tried her best to pick everything up before they stepped inside but she heard the front door open. She tensed up, but she only heard the heavy footsteps of one person, and god did she hope it was Lee.
"What you doin' down there?"
Her eyes trailed up and Carl was gazing down at her. Words got caught in her throat and she clutched her hand around one of the toy pieces, the edges of it painfully digging into her palm.
"Did I scare you?"
The smirk on her face made her want to shriek. She noted that he didn't call her "darlin'" like he used to. She can only guess what Lee did to him when he "took him out back" after calling her that for a few years.
"Where's my niece?"
Y/n shot up, not caring about the toys still on the floor. She'll be damned if Carl is alone with her daughter for even a second.
Sandy came in with Lee following behind her. He gave Y/n a look of understanding, he too hoped this was going to be a short visit. The sound of Sandy fawning over her niece overtook the room. Their daughter giggled and babbled at her aunt as if she could understand her.
"Y/n go make us some ice tea."
Usually Lee doesn't command her to do things, unless he was stressed or horny. She knew her was the former by the look on his face. He was aggravated and this visit wasn't going to make him feel any better. As Y/n left the room, Sandy sat down on their couch with their daughter in her arms. Carl sat next to them, making the alarm in Lee rise.
"I got you something honey," she pulled out a little doll from her purse. It looked tattered and Lee wondered where she got it from.
"You know she already has enough dollies," Lee joked. It didn't matter to his girl, it was a new toy, "got anything for your brother?"
Sandy eyes him before pulling out a small bag of candy. She tossed it to him and he caught it, "I knew you'd ask for somethin'"
He opened it and instantly popped a sweet cherry candy into his mouth.
"Y/n's not letting me drink since the girl is so young. This is the only thing I got, even though she's on my ass about that too," Lee knew that Sandy wasn't too interested in the ins-and-outs of his everyday life but he gets tired of complaining to his deputies.
"Yea, I bet," she kept a snide comment about her sister-in-law to herself. The box of cigarettes she had calling her name we're going to have to wait. "How's that mayor race going?"
"It's going."
"Heard that whore house owner croaked," Carl's voice carried to the kitchen and Y/n paused, "found in unusual circumstances...chairs pushed up against the door...poisoned. Reckon one of those girls got tired of him holdin' them down-"
"No smoking in the house," Lee interrupted when he noticed Carl reaching for the pack of cigarettes in his shirt pocket. Carl laughed as if he wanted to challenge Lee, but his hand went back to resting on the back of the couch.
"Wouldn't want this little darlin' smellin' like a bar."
Anytime Carl spoke at or about her daughter, Y/n wanted to vomit. Carl is not nice. She wonders how twisted Sandy might be to marry someone who is awful to women and has no filter.
There was a cloud of fear over her head when Carl was around. She wishes Lee was more apprehensive but Sandy's his little sister, and he cares for her no matter how much those two causes. Things would be different if Y/n had told Lee about that time Carl pressed himself against and put his hand up the skirt of her dress. His threat would forever bounce off her skull and it only got louder when he was near. "Shut you're fucking mouth or else your husbands gonna see his slut wife bending over for another man." She was five months pregnant and had no way to defend herself. He only groped her, but she always wondered if he would've gone further if Sandy hadn't come in looking for the cooking tongs Lee told her to fetch. Sandy knew something had happened, but she said nothing. Y/n's disdain for her only grew from that day on.
Lee redirected the conversation from what Carl had started to something a bit more asinine. He didn't want to talk about something work-related because he didn't need to be stressed out any further. Reed’s death wasn't another blow to his reputation like Lee thought it would. It was going to be another unsolved murder from the way it was looking though. The people assumed one of the girls did it. The place had been emptied out; it surely looked different from when Lee was last in there. Lee was lucky that Reed was extremely disliked, unlike that preacher Roy who died some years ago. More people said "he had it coming" instead of "why isn't the sheriff doing anything?"
He laughed about it though. When he was alone in the car after leaving the crime scene, he laughed. There was no more worrying about the rumor that Sheriff Lee Bodecker beat one of his girls. When Lee did go to that place, he was never forceful. Lee could be mean towards women at times, but he was never violent.
-
If Lee was called in on a Sunday morning, then it was very important. He woke Y/n up at 5 am and kissed her out of her confused state to say goodbye. She only slept for another hour after laying her head down back on the pillow.
This morning felt so different.
The morning she woke up knowing her task was to deal with Reed, she was distracted and jumpy. But she had grown so accustomed to her guilt that it's become a comfortable feeling. Mrs. Blackwater was a more personal score to settle. That woman was throwing dirt on Lee's name, but the turmoil she caused her teenage friend would never leave her mind. Y/n had learned how cruel someone could be without physically hurting you. The boys on school grounds were annoying brats, but that woman had a truly awful mouth.
The Petersons’ daughter was over right after church. She had a wide smile on her face, happy that Mrs. Bodecker was giving her another opportunity to make some money.
"She's been a fairly good mood lately," Y/n handed her daughter off to the shorter teenage girl, "she slept through the night for once, but she's still gonna need a nap. Once she starts fussin' put her in her crib. I should be back before Lee."
Y/n wished her well and the Petersons girl wished Y/n a good time running her errands. It was comical to think of this as an errand, even though today she was going to treat it like one.
She was in Lee's nice car again meaning she was going to have to temporarily get rid of it. Y/n put much more effort into this, her haphazard plan to take out Reed could've gone horribly wrong. She spent her time snooping around town when she was out with one of her mom friends. The plan had been simple: park the car at the crowded grocery just two blocks away from the Blackwater house. The house sat at the end of the street, a bit separated from the other row of houses because of the larger amount of land they owned. It wouldn't be a problem to walk to the house seeing as others in this neighborhood do the same thing.
When her mother had made that dress for her to wear to the Spring Formal, Y/n cried, saying she was going to look like a nurse instead of "the prettiest girl in town" like Jim, the guy who asked her to the dance said. A teenage grievance had somehow come in handy almost a decade later. It was under a long coat that was a bit abnormal for this warm day.
Y/n felt sickly confident. That only thing she worried about was Lee cruising through and seeing his car in the parking lot. But the grocery store offered a great cover. The sun was covered by a thick cloud as she walked away from the grocery store and to the old Blackwater house.
That porch still looked the same. It was old and rickety, squeaking as she stepped on it, she's surprised it didn't give it away some years ago. The rocking chair Mrs. Blackwater sat on while terrorizing people was no longer there. At least her days of scaring off the newer generation of kids were over.
Y/n knocked on the door and waited. She had to knock again, and by the third time she wondered if the old lady did the job for her!
"Who is it?" The voice was much more frail, but it was that voice.
"I'm here to help!" The upturn of her voice at the end made her statement sound more like a question.
The locks on the door began to click and Mrs. Blackwater peered at her.
"You're not the one they always send."
"Oh, she's sick today! I'm just filling in for her today!" After two weeks of watching, Y/n learned what days Mrs. Blackwater's nurse came and went. She came everyday but she was absent on Sundays. It's somewhat astounding that Mrs. Blackwater didn't ask about Y/n turning up on a Sunday.
"Ahh whatever," she dismissed, unlocking the screen door, and wheeling backwards in the wheelchair that she had been relegated to a few years ago.
Y/n didn't know what to expect when she stepped inside, but it wasn't too far off from how her parent's house looked; black and white photos littering the walls and stacks of paper that probably could've been thrown away a decade ago. What is different from her parent's home is that this place is an utter mess. The nurse that usually comes to take care of her could at least tidy it up a bit. With how much she hated everything, Y/n would've assumed she hated mess too, but her home says otherwise. This lady was an absolute hoarder.
"Don't bother me," Mrs. Blackwater sniped at her. She wheeled herself next to the couch and glued her eyes to the black and white television screen.
Y/n doesn't know how many hours Mrs. Blackwater spent sitting there and watching The Andy Griffin Show. She didn't laugh when something funny happened, she just sat there still, sometimes grumbling to herself in reaction to what was happening on screen.
The least Y/n could do was tidy up a bit. It would be a kind gesture to leave her to die in a presentable place.
Mrs. Blackwater is not going to die a violent death. She was awful, but she did not deserve the brutality like someone who has done physical harm did. (If she was just a little bit braver, she would've hacked him to death, but the sight of blood makes her ill). Mrs. Blackwater was up in age, nearing her 90s, and it would be time for her to go soon anyway. Y/n dusted around the TV, one of the last things this old woman may see. All the photos of people on the walls were staring at her as she moved about cleaning the dust from the frames. So many people, many dead but most probably alive. Mrs. Blackwater had children and probably grandchildren but no one came to visit her. Her tongue was sharp, but how could no one come and visit their aging mother?
"Stop moving so damn much. Sit down girl."
The venom was still in her voice. It would never go away, at least not until she dies. This woman didn't appreciate anything and enjoyed being miserable. Y/n listened to her like that scared little teenager she used to be. She sat on the couch, a few feet away from Mrs. Blackwater who had not taken her eyes off the TV or moved at all. Y/n was spending time with a woman who was going to die at her hands today. If she's going to die then at least she's going to die doing what she loves; watching her shows and bitching out the closest person in reach.
She had only moved to grab the newspaper from the table on the other side of her. It was Friday's addition, Y/n could tell from the photo on the cover. She couldn't help but eye the old woman as she read the paper. It has been probably three hours and she hasn't even asked for anything to eat.
"People droppin' like flies in this shit hole."
Y/n's ears perked up, but she didn't say anything, she just let the lady talk.
"Leroy should know better not to do that shit here...especially with that corrupt sheriff around...would've had an easier time gettin' away with it in the city. Everyone in the city already does all that illegal shit so it probably wouldn’t have mattered anyway. Now he’s dead."
Y/n had heard that name before. She remembers vividly Lee chewing someone out on the phone and saying their name with contempt. Leroy, Leroy, Leroy. The name "Bobo" also came up in the conversation a few times. Y/n wanted to be mad at Mrs. Blackwater for referring to her husband as "corrupt" but something nagged at her to keep the conversation going for her sake.
"W-what do you mean?" Her voice cracked but it was ignored by the old woman.
"You must not be from here. Everyone knows that if you get caught up with that fat bastard sheriff you must be doin’ some awful shit. The only reason why he keeps gettin' re-elected is because everyone is scared of him. It doesn't matter how many babies that man has, he's a killer...dragging that man's body and fucking up carnations..."
No one had ever talked to Mrs. Bodecker about her husband like this. Town gossipers had the decency to wait until she left the room to say something about him. But she's not Mrs. Bodecker right now. It does not matter anyway because the old lady doesn't know what she's talking about. She hasn't spent the hours with Lee, with him being sweet and so soft with his daughter. Y/n firmly believes that if Lee did indeed kill someone then it was for a good reason. She knows her husband involves himself in dirty things, but it had to be for a good reason. Lee did not show brutality for no reason; he didn't get his rocks off on hurting innocent people.
"People can change. I'm sure he's a different man now."
"Why!? Because he got a bitch and a bastard? You are too naïve...at least the other girl they send has some more sense in her head. No man is going to want to marry a dumb girl."
An awkward silence surrounded them but it was mostly felt by Y/n. She found herself frozen with a ball of rage and anxiety in her stomach. But she had no time to dwell for much longer though.
"I'm thirsty...go make me something."
Y/n noticed Mrs. Blackwater flinching when she grabbed the remote to turn the volume higher. She either had arthritis or just pain in her hands.
"Okay...do you need to take any pills at this time?"
"My husbands gone and my children don't visit me. You think I care about taking my pills?"
Maybe Mrs. Blackwater would be kind to her if she knew Y/n was going to take her out of her misery. Breaking open the capsules and dumping it in the tea she made for her is going to do the job. She might succumb to a heart attack, or pass peacefully. The only person Y/n felt bad for was the poor nurse who was going to find her dead tomorrow morning.
-
Lee was able to leave his shift earlier than expected. Sundays are very quiet, the only thing he got up to was paperwork at the station. He could go home early to his wife, play with the girl while Y/n makes dinner, and get a nice ride from his wife while their daughter sleeps. Y/n said something about needing him to pick up some chicken stock from the grocery store.
People filled in and out of the grocery store as the sun began to set. A few people spoke to him, never for too long knowing that he's not fond of small talk. But more people being friendly with him was a good sign. Even without his sweet wife next to him, no one shied away from saying hello to the man running for Mayor.
Two boxes of chicken stock should be enough even though his wife sent him for three. The brand she likes isn’t exactly cheap. Lee promptly made his way to the cashier who greeted him with a smile.
"Good evening sheriff!" her voice was sweet and she batted her eyes a few times. Lee offered her a smile, but a small laugh escaped. This girl couldn't be younger than 20 but she fawned over him like a young school girl. Her behavior reminded him of Y/n when she was that age. "Darlene said she saw your car in the parking lot but didn't get a chance to catch Mrs. Bodecker herself."
Lee stopped caring about the items (a few snuck in there for him) being rung up. His brows furrowed and the girl realized that she had said something maybe she shouldn't have.
"My wife was here?"
"That's what Darlene said. Her shift ended right as I was coming in so I wasn't there when it happened...do you still want the chicken stock?"
"Yea yea just ring it up."
Lee's mind was too preoccupied with the weird behavior his wife has been exhibiting for the last several weeks. She often hovered over him when he was on the phone like she was interested in what he was talking about. All the swearing and terms she didn't understand kept her from asking what his loud, and often abrasive, phone conversations were about. But now she was listening a little too hard for his liking.
The only time Y/n was supposed to drive their car is if Lee told her she could or if there was an emergency. A trip to the grocery store did not fall under either of those categories. But it was particularly weird to him that she would go to the store when she told him to go himself. If she had forgotten something, she would have not hesitated to call the station. Something was up with her.
Everything felt normal as he stepped into the house. The smell of what she was cooking hit his nose and the familiar noises of his daughter babbling louder than the Y/n moving around the kitchen. If he had no questions for his wife, then he'd feel all warm inside walking into his home in this current state.
Y/n was talking to their daughter as if she was holding a real conversation with her. Their daughter started squealing when she saw Lee appear in the doorway. He put his index finger to his lips to tell her to quiet herself, but she was only louder.
"I couldn't believe it either! They said the hairdresser purposefully dyed Marie's hair darker," she spoke, thinking her daughter was just squealing because she was talking to her and not because her husband was creeping up behind her.
Hands snaked around her waist and she nearly jumped. "Oh yea? Is that what the town is gossipin' about today?" Lee's familiar voice soothed her and she turned around in his arms. She deftly kissed him and looked up at him.
"Wanna know what else I heard?" He whispered to her. Y/n nodded, a smile spreading on her face as she rested her forehead against his, "heard the sheriff's wife been out and about and driving his nice car."
Y/n's smile fell from her face, but it only made Lee smile wider.
"You wanna tell me what you were doing out?"
"I needed something from the store."
"So my task to pick up the chicken stock after work was for nothing?"
"No...I went to my parents house...didn't want to go empty-handed. You know how my mother gets."
What a sweet little liar.
But she still had the smell of an old house lingering around her so maybe it wasn’t completely a lie. Still, he knew something was up with her.
“How was work?” She quickly tried to change the subject. Lee was not really in the mood to interrogate her, it was Sunday after all. He sat down in the chair next to his daughter's high chair. She started reaching for his hat but he was too far away, so Lee rested his head on the tray and let her have her fun. Y/n was probably going to be mad at him for putting his head where she eats and getting all of his “outside germs” all over it, but he didn’t care.
“I’m tired,” he confessed, a heavy sigh escaping him, “I’m really fucking tired.”
Y/n wishes she could lift more of her husband’s burdens. Killing people who were talking about him did not get rid of the core problem. Sometimes she wishes he never decided to run for mayor. Life was so much more comfortable when he would run unopposed for county sheriff. Instead her husband had a bigger dream. From the very beginning she felt like it was a long shot that this would be successful, but they had gotten so far in changing how most of the people viewed Lee. And even though they felt a way about him, they still respected the sheriff.
“It’s going to be over soon. I promise.”
He truly wanted to believe her, but the sinking feeling that the past was going to catch up with him was not going away.
*slides in on socks* hey can we hear more abt that bnha cult au, the one where bc mido is quirkless and the cult town thinks hes better for it
So I’m probably going to be too lazy to actually write that as a full fic, so lemme go find my brainstorming and yeet it here for you all! Under a read more bc this is long and messy.
The whole fic takes place over either 1 or 1.5 months
Quirks = route of evil, those without powers are closest to the divine's intentions and anything subverting them from that should be expunged. Closer to normal you look = purer you are. Izuku is considered near gold standard excluding his green hair
2000 people in the town - 82 are quirkless (marked with a band - where? Wrist, neck or?)
Global quirkless pop = 20% but japan is 5%, much much lower in Izuku's generation, movement has been around since the dawn of quirks - infanticide
100 people statistically would make sense but rate of quirkless births vs quirkless people is very different as many die due to poor patient care
Some members of the town are the grieving parents of people who's quirkless children were killed as doctors didn't listen to them - some of the first people izuku meet
"Hizashi's family" Invite izuku over - they aren't related, it's part of a plot where they look at quirk records to invite the quirkless to join. Those who do not are disposed of in the woods.
The quirkless are treated like royalty, free food + other stuff
Anyone not on board is killed - settlement is new but buildings are old - the prior town was chased out/killed to make room for the cult. They used to meet in normal churches but quirkless supporting cults were cracked down on so they relocated into the woods by taking over a town
Start the fic w izuku getting off the train, Town is called Rishi, based the town off Nanmoku
Mum: Miyatani Haiyu Dad: Miyatani Juzou Daughter: Miyatani Kei
Need a very secretive, insular vibe - the place has no wifi, a church radio station and a townhall
Timeline
Arival Bakugo and Izuku take the train, Bakugo is there bc his mother told him to go: Inko was worried about sending Izuku off alone so she offered up bakugo to play guard dog. Bakugo is pissed.
Bakugo will have a blow up about being there pretty early, izuku will try and soothe him which will only make him angrier. Is shinsou there?
Shinsou is coming as well, but later > originally going to meet up w izuku for the first time (shitty foster parents) but wants to shield him from bakugo. Izuku just wants to sleep.
Golden band for the quirkless (ribbon?) “in our town we value good fashioned hard work so we like to give back to the quirkless, this little band lets everyone know the folks we should give a little more to”
Look around town, Izuku alone (shinsou there tomorrow >> all three staying at an inn)
Meet the family, bakugo pissed right off and they talk some smack about him while izuku flounders. “bet he’s got some flashy quirk, huh? Seems like the type. Makes me sick, thinkin they're better just cause they’re -”
Bakugo goes straight to his room to be a piss baby, izuku looks around. They are setting up for a festival. A group of kids teases another with a visible mutation, she cries, izuku tells the kids off and they scatter, she says some concerning stuff izuku is concerned.
Izuku eats dinner w the family, they talk about how they think he’s gonna like it there, the little kid is cute.
Shinsou rolls into town, they go for a hike, its pretty chill - they have a picnic n shit they have dinner w the family
Back to room (share one), izuku fiddling w the radio to find mic’s show, find the town’s own radio, they listen: something about  someone being brought into the fold, visitors in town to be treated kindly, a reminder of a church service that week “Hold fast to your faith, the world may slip a little further each day but we shall fight together to bring our faith outwards and bring purity back to the world”
“Wow that was weird” “Wanna do some research?” “Fuck, sure.”
They run into bakugo at breakfast, izuku mentions the show and bakugo kinda nods, “you heard it too?” “yeah. Fuckin weird” “We were gonna do some digging -” “Fuck off, I don’t need you two messing with my shit, I’ll look into myself.” “That was almost polite for Bakugo, huh?”
Maybe timeskip to end of week?
With the family, doing arts craft with the daughter. Shinso is sleeping off a migraine. They mention church vaguely in the background and Izuku tries to look like he's not listening in.
The daughter brings it up to izuku and the family chuckle and say he’s free to come if he wants but there is no need to rush him.
They eat lunch, the family kinda advertise the town to him, talk about the nice quirkless girl down the street his age, how rare it is for quirkless people to be born in this generation. Izuku vaguely thinks about how nice it would be to live there
Church that night, izuku looks in on shinsou to see he's still sleeping in the dark, goes to bakugo “look i know i’m sorry but they’re having church tonight and i know you were a little interested and i was gonna go anyway -” “I’m coming with because otherwise you’ll be useless.” They decide to sneak around to listen “I was kinda -” “yeah, sure” “wait but -” “oh fuck off, it rubbed me the wrong way too. The weirdos might talk different if they know we’re there.”
Bakugo throws a darker jacket at Izuku, he slips on a beanie and they head out into the woods, walking through to reach the back of the church. They wait 20 minutes after it was supposed to start and creep out, they listen in.
“We will purge the impure our streets, we will stop this blight and, we will enact god's wrath and spare the pure, letting relieve the purity of the past. We will strike them down in his name, let them know we are his wolves let loose upon the blinded sheep.”
Bakugo grabs izuku’s arm, they are both pale. They go to run, and a metal sheet falls down. The preacher goes quiet and someone a few people stand and the two of them book it as fast as they can.
They get back to the inn and have a minor freak out, they wake up shinso and they are like “oh shit, oh fuck.” they decide they need proof bc the pros will never listen to them, they become baby detectives
Bakugo going off at izuku and having the shit scared out of him by a local, izuku steps in and the local backs down instantly, all smiles
One part of the story involves them running through the festival, changing clothes and masks as much as the can to escape the people chasing them.
The cult have a gas that is toxic to anyone with the quirk factor and intend to release it all across japan, starting with their own town. The climax of the story see’s Izuku going it alone through the facility, dead and dying bodies around him, looking out for any quirkless members that will stop him as he tries to find the locations of the canisters containing the gas.
Aizawa and Nighteye are in the town as well, Bakugo and Shinsou run to them crying ab how Izuku is all alone and they think he’s going to die and oh god they can’t even help him -
The dumb comedy throughline in this AU is Aizawa and Nighteye have to fake having crushes on each other to explain why they are hanging out so much in secluded areas. They both hate this very much.
Izuku, who recognized the two heroes On Sight, is having a minor crisis about them both being here and apparently getting handsy behind a 7/11.
