my second story for my project! this may be my favourite story ever ❤️‍🩹
ahhhh this got so personal so quickly 🥹 performing has always been for leisure for me, and for the same reasons in this story, i got so burnt out last year. writing this really made me realise how much i miss the stage. going from about 7 performances a year to only about 1 is to put it simply, heartbreaking.
but i learnt that there are opportunities. i learnt that i'm satisfied with just getting my voice out to the world whether it be through choir, the internet or on the streets. i think things will work out; time does help sometimes 🫶
for those who may not know, kevin's representative number is 16 🌙 and the meaning of this number is explained in this video! i did some research and found that it's from 1 Peter 5:6.
to my readers who are followers of God: I pray that you will always be filled with hope and joy as you advance in your daily endeavours. Believe that God has the best plans for you and that He will never leave you behind, especially when you are at your lowest. Confide in Him and love Him as much as He loves you.

“Can I sing this part with Kevin?”
The question is new to everyone who heard it. Did you just ask to do a supposed solo with someone else? No, you were not a greedy performer though you understood why most people would think that. The choir conductor looks to the other side of the ensemble where the group of altos stood. Including the older woman, all the children including the said boy stood there surprised at the request you asked for.
You’ve been singing in the church youth choir since you were ten and you were incredibly gifted. For example, you landed most of the solos and smaller ensemble parts whenever there was a chance. At first, you didn’t want to be in this church because you were shy (incredibly shy) and you never made a lot of friends in school and most definitely, outside of school. Needless to say, your parents were pretty worried but at the very least, they found that when you were asked to go to church events, you were able to talk with people, smile, and laugh but then you would go back into your shell.
Your parents met at this church through singing and performing together as part of the choir and the band. The children were around your age but you found that your interests mainly conflicted with them and it was hard to keep up with their conversations.
So, when a certain Moon family moved into your area and started attending their local church, Kevin, who happens to be a boy who is incredibly gifted in music, joined the choir with that unique, radiant, excited smile on his face. With a simple and friendly “Hello everyone. My name is Kevin, I’m fifteen and am very excited to be here!” Contrasting to his introduction, you found that Kevin was just as introverted as you were and with your courage to finally approach someone, you made your first friend. School life became better as well when you found out that Kevin attended the same school as you.
Going back to the first dialogue though, the duet did happen and the church community knew that you both were the perfect musical partners for each other. Your softer soprano voice complimented Kevin’s deeper alto voice easily. You both found yourself auditioning, performing, and showcasing your team work together in a bunch of school, church, and even the larger community-based musical events.
Now, after eight years of joining the choir, three after meeting Kevin, you were both in a state of uncertainty, distress, and frustration with the piles of sheet music that scattered everywhere to the point where it was almost covering the surface of your room’s floor. Your hair strands were everywhere and you were sick with the school uniform that you’ve had on since seven in the morning. You both have been secluding yourselves in your room, going back and forth with the arrangement of your final high school piece that you are going to perform with Kevin within less than a week.
The current situation in one word: messy.
It’s all a mess. About a week ago out of nowhere, your voice decided to have its own mind and leave for about a week. Kevin had a sudden test that his teacher thought would be fun to assign at the last minute. You also had this assignment that you were going to do but you found a mistake in the written arrangement, a note that was about a tone and a half out of your range, and since Kevin was better at rhythm, arrangement, and using the composing software, you could only sit next to his left in the corner of your room as he groaned at how the app was not doing what you both wanted to do.
So yes…it’s a mess, and it’s been around three hours.
“This is impossible.” A few more of your tears manage to trickle down your already red, puffy cheeks, “Okay you know what, I’ll just sing it. It’s fine. It’s not even two tones above what I usually sing in AND I’ve done it befo—”
“Lost your voice and felt lightheaded after.” Kevin cuts off your panicked rambles. No doubt, he’s feeling all the things that you are feeling right now but the only reason why he’s still able to muster up a smile and just ‘inhale, exhale’ through it all is because at the very least, one of you should be able to stay grounded, “We’re not going to put out a performance that we’re not proud of, okay? Especially when this is our last high school performance together.”
“We also said that we wouldn’t do any performances that were out of our capabilities.” At these words, you were both reminded of the promise you made to each other in front of your melted ice creams. It was an ‘oath’ that was made when you both realised you would be standing on the same stage, at the same time more often:
We will finish every performance to the best of our capabilities. We will focus more on quality rather than quantity.
At the new educational path that you were about to embark on, automatically closing this one that you’ve been on for just about six years, you were both starting to get greedy, wanting more than anything now to be on stage. With you both turning eighteen, you both couldn’t sing with the youth choir anymore. Taking music as a subject in high school meant there was a certain prerequisite in terms of how many stages you would have to perform; you and Kevin always exceeded this regardless with solos, duets, or larger ensembles. With graduation, however, the granted opportunity to perform would be taken away from you both and you were getting restless.
You were both greedy, forgetting almost all the other priorities that you had set out, and raked the internet for any chances to perform on stage. For the last two months, both of you have been juggling between your heavy study load, auditioning, composing, arranging, practising, and bowing at the end of it all. To the untrained ear, they could have probably missed the way you were momentarily out of tune or the way that Kevin missed his entry due to his fatigue. The greed consumed you both and most of the stages that you performed were nowhere near satisfactory for any standards that you both set for yourself. After the first performance that you were bashing yourself over, you rationalised that you would need to do another one to make up for the ‘loss’ from the previous one. That you NEED to go to another stage to make up for the ‘loss’ from the previous one.
That cycle is deadly and it keeps going for a while.
“Kev…I’m tired.” It feels like after a whole three years of back-to-back, almost seemingly non-stop performances in addition to the sudden addition from the past two months, you have finally hit a wall that you never wanted to admit. Kevin didn’t need verbal words to know the reason behind the lack of enthusiasm and the way the lyrics sing are no longer as projected and emotionful as before; because it was the same way to him.
“I know…” Kevin sighs. He finally relieves the downward strain on his neck, pulling it back up to rest against the wall. Offering you both comfort, he wraps his arm around the back of your shoulder, his palm pulling your left forearm to get you closer to him, “I’m sorry, I can’t get this right.”
“No, don’t say that.” You finally give in, plopping your head on his left shoulder in defeat, “I’m sorry. You’re doing your best.”
You let most of the silence fill you both, the hints of the trackpad clicking and the way the note that Kevin clicked would play out of his laptop’s speaker to audibly confirm the note that he just readjusted on the musical lines. Kevin’s left hand is maneuvering on the trackpad while his hand pats on your head that rested on his left shoulder, humming comfortingly while you calm your racing thoughts.
“But hey.” Kevin finally speaks up, “I just wanted to say that I like how busy this is making me.” Nodding to his own words, “It makes me forget the other subjects for a while.”
You exhale, knowing how much Kevin has been having a hard time with the other core subjects but still wakes up every day and chooses to smile courageously, “But this isn’t the right way. To forget other things, I mean.”
“I know, I know.” The boy lets out a little ‘aha’ when he finally finds the rhythm that you both wanted, playing the bar again and again, tapping his index finger on his thigh as he follows the 4/4 count, “But hey, thanks for accepting this performance even with all the final year-end exams. Or else I would REALLY be overthinking that recent chemistry test.”
“Love you, bro.” Reminding him thoughtfully to calm the noise in his head, “I’m always here for you.”
“Love you too, sis.” Playfully, he makes a fist and gently taps your forehead with his knuckles, emitting a laugh from you, “Just take a rest, okay? I’ll just,” Kevin adjusts his slouching posture, straightening his back fully against the wall so that his shoulders are higher and more comfortable for you to lay on, “be on another war with this app. You would expect I know all the tricks after using it for a year but guess not.”
Tumblr media
So yes, it was a bit of a mess but on the bright side, you are both extremely proud of that final stage together as high school students. It earned a huge round of applause from the audience and many thankful regards were given by all the teachers in the department of music. It was a bittersweet feeling to see the head of music cry at the realisation that he would never see his two best students attend his class anymore but he made you both promise to visit once in a while.
But the performance being an open event, neither of you realised the opportunities or the types of people that would attend the concert. And so here you both are in an educational setting but with casual clothing unlike the blazer, tie, and the one hundred percent cotton blouses that you were forced to wear.
“Gosh Kev, you’re so funny!” Kevin smiles nervously, biting on his bottom lip as he refuses to look at you at all. You continued to laugh a little bit more, the tears in your eyes and the stitch on your abdomen growing with each breath you took. It’s when Kevin doesn’t laugh along or show any indications of joining in that you raise your eyebrows, some sort of nervousness in your eyes, “Wait, you’re being serious?!”
“It’s crazy, I know!” You just stare at him in shock, your mouth hanging wide open at your best friend next to you, “I think I’ll take the chance and university can wait. People can apply to university anytime but this?” He is finally telling you his worries and thoughts that have been running endlessly after two months of keeping it in, “It’s kind of time crucial.”
"Yes,” You understood his worries, knowing that the life of being a celebrity or an idol is quite limited. It has never been said explicitly but at least for Korean companies, there is a reason why there is always a certain age limitation when auditioning, “I get that but Kevin, are you sure? I get that you've always been into music and you've always been good at it! Trust me, I know! But you've always wanted to be here as well! You never really wanted to be a musical artist."
"That's why life is crazy right?"
You just finished your last class of the day and surprisingly Kevin shows up, waiting for you, looking conflicted and stressed about a subject that you obviously did not know about. His tired smile told you everything, you being able to read him easily like an open book. Kevin realises this, his shoulder slumping in defeat with how you look at him in concern and he feels your hesitation to keep the conversation going.
“Your ‘passive-aggressive tiger parents’ are good with it?”
“Well,” Reminded of the day that Stella convinced their parents to let him go with his path and to support his desires, “I guess so? They let me do everything and introduced me to music so it ain't my fault!" He finally turns to you for the first time after the laughing fit, "You’ll support me right?"
"Of course I will!" You confirm incredulously, both your eyebrows raising and the volume of the sentence rising with each word, “Damn we only met a bit over three years ago but it really does feel like we’ve been friends since birth.”
Kevin shrugs, happy with your genuine response to his uncertainties, “I’m just cool in that way.”
A roll of your eyes is your only response to him, “So, when’s the last time that I’ll see your ‘slay’ful face?”
He grimaces at the way you worded the adjective, “Ew, what is that word?” But then the truth had to be dropped someday; that being right now, “Y-Yeah about that.”
“Kevin Moon.” You frown at the way he just whistles to avoid the subject, an obvious action to buy time, “Kevin.”
"Not too soon! Like…like five days…"
Comedically, the crows on the campus made their signature noise and you took in the information slowly.
"WHAT THE BLEEP DUDE?!"
"OKAY IN MY DEFENCE I REALLY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! YOU KNOW HOW INDECISIVE I AM!"
"OKAY BUT YOU NEVER BOTHERED TO TELL ME?!"
"I'M SORRY!"
Tumblr media
Smiling at the obvious decrease in the stack of papers that needed to be marked, you decide to stretch your limbs and take a breath of fresh air before your energetic third graders arrive at school. You really left it to the last minute and you can’t wait to finish the last day of the week so that you can chill until another week starts. The weather was strangely gloomy, possibly due to the rainfall and the colder wind. You kind of regretted coming out, especially since the steam from your coffee no longer had that hypnotising white swirl in the air.
But you didn’t leave.
Instead, you even lean over the balcony’s metal railing. Even with the long sleeve covering your elbows, you enjoyed the contrast between your still-healthy body temperature and the icy surface. You weren’t sure why either but you just wanted to bask in the cold air and you can only pray that you weren’t going to get sick. The weather causes your shoulders to tense, bringing them towards the centre of your body to try and conserve some heat. It didn’t work that well but you were still feeling some sort of comfort with the morning weather.
You didn’t realise the time that passed by faster when you were practically doing nothing. The driveway, parking lots, and walkways eventually fill themselves with the diverse colours of school bags, shoes, and hair accessories. Mentally preparing yourself for the day ahead, you prepared your ‘teacher smile’, trying your best to hide your fatigue from the seemingly long week.
"Teacher, teacher!"
You finally lean away from the railing, giving a slight nod to the parent of your most energetic student, and the gesture is returned straight away. Crouching down to match his eye level, you put your palm out to him and he slaps his palm on yours, "Wow. Looks like someone had too much sugar."
"Teacher! Do you know K-Pop?" Your body froze just like the raindrops that didn’t make it to the floor, hanging solid on the rooftop’s overhang, "It's a huge thing right now!"
Oh, if only he knew…
"I can hear your rumbling thoughts like an open book." After his flustered state and a string of apologies that led you to put him in a joking headlock, Kevin grew quiet once again, letting his thoughts fill in the atmosphere between you both, "What's up? And don't lie because you know you suck at it."
The boy attempts to change the subject again, "If it's a book then wouldn't it be read instead of heard?"
"...ok smartass." You stare at him unimpressed with his attempt, "But no seriously, what's up? You know that it's okay not to be okay."
"It's just that…" He ponders, a sad smile on his face as he thinks about his current life situation, "My life is fine as it is right now. It's all great: I'm going to a good university, studying the course I want and I'm looking forward to being a teacher." An eyebrow slowly raised on your side, prompting him to continue, "Why is this happening now? Why is this happening when everything is going fine?" Kevin's facade finally breaks, his eyes pooling with tears with the many unanswered questions, "Why didn't this opportunity come earlier? Maybe when I wasn't in university? I can't even get a refund now…"
"Hey…" Kevin rarely cries in public. For one, you've only seen him cry twice and both times were because he dived in too deep with his plans, making him depressed and lost. You realised once again, with the tears that fell on his jeans that Kevin is not the happy-go-lucky guy who he displays himself to be most of the time. He's human above everything else and even though he always tries to see the best in every situation, it's moments like these that you see your best friend in a different light than the rest of the world, "Money is not all to life, you know? What's the point of stacking up money when you can't even do what you want?"
"But then why would people be so money-crazed then? People work for money…"
"To use it on what they love and need. Some people don't even feel like work is for money." Even though Kevin just stares down at the floor, swinging his legs in the air, you know that he's taking in everything you're saying, "But that's beside the point right now, okay? If making the stage your usual routine will lead you to happiness, then I want you to take it."
"But…why?" The clause can never be fully answered and Kevin knew that despite his multiple endeavours to rake for answers, "Why me? When everything is going well?"
"Because God has different plans for you." Inhaling the colder air, you told yourself to remember this moment between you and him, "I'm not saying you're pretending to be someone you're not. But the moment that you stop pretending, the moment you accept that something out there is better for you, I think will be the moment when you finally accept yourself."
"Are you positive that it'll come?" His voice decreased, along with the final bits of his self-confidence, "The journey of self-acceptance, I mean."
You both have been talking in hushed whispers, as gentle as the whistling wind. But you decide to finally add confidence into the conversation.
"Hey Kevin." The said boy looks up to you, "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand…"
"...that he may lift you in due time." He finishes the biblical passage that he has been fascinated with for the longest time.
Satisfied, you nod, proud of him, "I can't answer your 'whys', Kevin. To be honest, I don’t think anyone can." You finally voice your opinion, knowing now that your time with him is limited, "But just know that even though you would have strived here in university, one of God's greatest gifts for you is your musicality."
Your words relieve Kevin of his headache, heartache, and the shirt that he has been clamping since the start of the day. You chuckle when Kevin asks for a hug, opening your arms wide to offer him the best comfort that he will forever cherish and be thankful for. Soothingly, you sway your body side to side, humming the melody to the latest (and last) song that you performed together. Kevin joins in with his harmony which has always left people in awe and starstruck.
"Maybe you're just meant to be up there and twerk in front of the camera and not just to our friends." You comment when the song comes to an end.
"Wow, alright." His sniffles didn't cease even when he dragged the final 'w' and 't'.
"You'll be okay, Kevin." The light but secure taps on his back prove your reassuring words, "I know you will."
"Surely…right?" It's the final question that he would ever ask you about this subject, "As we know, not everything we see on the screen is real. I just feel like I'll lose myself because the idol world wants us to be a certain way."
"No, I don't think you will." You pull Kevin away, pouting at his flushed cheeks and tired face, "I know it's stressful to keep up with society but I hope you know that there will be people that will love and support you. And if you make a mistake? If you lose yourself in shape, way, or form? Then you fight. You fight for your rights and fight for them righteously. You’ll fight because like you always say: learn from relationships. You learn the do's and not do's and still keep the relationship genuine."
“You have that much faith in me?”
“I do.” You tilt your chin high in the air, confidence finally reaching him in the form of a bright smile, "And for those who don’t,” You shake your head, flipping your hair back sassily, “those bitches can walk out the door."
You remember the memory somewhat fondly. To be honest, you found it a bit funny because you lost your best friend over music. You would learn after his departure that you would never find a friend like him ever again. Ironically, it was music that brought you two together—yet it was the same thing that drifted you both apart.
It took a while for you to bounce back. You grew bitter about doing music especially when Kevin no longer answered any of your messages anymore out of nowhere. When you bumped into Stella while grocery shopping, you found out that it was because of his phone ban as a trainee. You remember going home that day, feeling guilty that you blamed him, not considering his external situation; especially when you knew that Kevin would never cut someone off without an explanation. Yes, it’s been lonely; you did lose your best friend after all. At first, you regretted letting him go, you resented him for not texting you back and you avoided the stage because it reminded you of him.
But God had a different plan for you too. Because when you accidentally clicked on one of the recommended videos on your page, the satisfied smile, the happy tears and the relieved exhale showed your real feelings that you were merely in a phase of confusion. All the hate, all the resentment, all faded as soon as you heard the slightly changed vocal timbre that you unfortunately are no longer used to. You found peace with the person who dances happily underneath the flashing, colourful lights with ten other boys.
“Teacher?” The boy’s innocent head tilt pulls you back to the present time and he seems pleased with the way you nod to his question, “I like K-Pop too! I found this group! They’re called THE BOYZ!”
You were amazed at the stars that the topic put to your student’s eyes and you nodded intently to his excited story. It’s not long after when the mother pushes her child in, sitting him down so that you can get on with your priorities. You straighten your knees, standing back up, pushing your hips out side to side to stretch from the unexpectedly long conversation.
“Damn, Kev…” Your shoulders and chest rise at the deep breath and your hands find their place on your hips,  “And after all these years…you’re still able to make me smile?”
The starting bell rang just in time for your last student to arrive just before you closed the glass door to block out the outside background noise. With the final student ready and set up, you stand in front of the electronic board that displays the first class of the day. Your mind begins to wonder again, particularly about the boy that you once shared a dream with. Routinely, you rhythmically clap to grab everyone’s attention, and surely enough, the conversations between the students die down, and you give back the fond look that your students gave you.
“Shall we start music class?”
The enthusiastic response answers your wondering thoughts and the question you asked yourself outside the classroom.
“Guess that’s just you, Kevin. That’s just who you are, Kev.”

.. submit .. pairing. kevin moon x female reader genre. smut pov. second person (you, yours, yourself, etc.) synopsis. who woulda thought your best friend would use the handcuffs you bought him for his birthday on you? wc. 1k cw. best friend!kevin, brat taming dom!kevin, bratty sub!reader tw. dubcon (reader is drunk), handcuffs (f receiving), alcohol consumption, pet names (‘darling’, ‘baby’, ‘babe’, ‘beautiful’, ‘friend’?), name calling (‘slut’), praising, degrading, cursing, dirty talk, unprotected sex (wrap your meat fellas), p in v, breeding, choking, teasing, i think that’s it?? a/n. i should just accept the fact that i won’t ever get a birthday fic posted on time for their birthday ☺️ anyway, i wrote this while i was high at 3 in the morning, so i’m sorry if there’s mistakes :}
“I love seeing you so submissive. Give in to me,” he whispered against the back of your ear, running his soft hands along your delicate skin. You were shivering underneath him, body nearly convulsing against his touch, fingers fumbling with the material holding your wrists to the headboard behind you.
“You’re beautiful like this,” he purred, fingers gently caressing your moist and reddened cheeks. You weren’t just embarrassed, but you were ashamed as well. This was your friend, your best friend, whose bed you had found yourself in, drunk off your ass without a care in the world who was watching as you stripped yourself of all your clothes, shaking your sexy body in his face. You thought, without a doubt in your mind, that there was not a chance that he would act on any ounce of desire he had toward you; especially since you thought he wasn’t interested in you in that light whatsoever.
So, obviously, when you were pinned down to the bed underneath him, his kisses rough and full of passion, you were well beyond the line of shock, skipping right into complete and utter dumbfoundedness. Lost in the heat of the moment, you hadn’t even realized he used the pink fluffy handcuffs you gifted to him as a joke on his birthday just a few days ago to connect your wrists to the posts at the top of his bed.
“Quit teasing,” you snapped, jerking your face away from him. You just wanted this agonizing moment over with, it was way too much for you, honestly. The overwhelming embarrassment, shame, disappointment, you were just a mess. A hot mess, sure, but still a mess, nonetheless.
“Ah, but I thought you were into foreplay, darling? If I remember correctly, you always bitch whenever you don’t get any,” he hummed, cockiness radiating from his tone. You cringed at how insensitive he sounded, knowing damn well why you wanted to move on with this little scenario that he insisted on playing out longer than what is needed.
“Just… just put it in or something… I’m already… turned on enough…” you could barely stumble out the right words to explain to him where you were coming from. You had never felt so degraded in your life, and you’d barely even gotten anywhere with him.
He chuckled at the tone of your voice, hearing how impatient you were becoming. He really did find great amusement in your suffering…
He slowly slipped his hands down his own body, tugging his pants off and hesitatingly lifting his shirt up next.
On instinct, you wanted to reach out and touch him, but it only resulted in you rubbing at the fluffiness of the handcuffs containing your wrists. He faked a pout as he stared down at your desperate form, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, “Aw, does baby wanna be let free? Do you wanna touch me?”
“N-no! They’re just… bothersome…” you were so easy to read that it made you sick to the stomach with how much your tone gave away your truth. It only resulted in  playful eye roll from him, but it didn’t take long for him to push his cock into your clenching hole. You gasped, the back of your head digging into the pillow below, nails fervently scratching and clawing at the sheets nearest to them.
“Fuck, you’re so tight, babe,” he groaned, pushing every inch inside you agonizingly slow.
You hissed, “Why are you doing everything so fucking slow, Kev? Why don’t you fuck me like a man? Do something right, goddamn.”
His eyes widened at your outburst, but you were just as surprised by your words as he was. Only, you failed to react quick enough before the cataclysm of rage fell over the man on top of you. You squealed as soon as you felt his entire length dip inside you, only to be pulled out and shoved right back in. His hips were brutal against you, just as you had provoked him. You realized your mistake as soon as his reaction was pinpointed on your newly abused pussy.
Your legs looped around his waist, hoping to stabilize his pace a little, maybe so it wouldn’t be so unforgiving and sporadic, but it didn’t help. If anything, it made him more pissed off, growling, “Why are you moving, slut?”
You readjusted your legs again, spreading them far apart, allowing him full access to everything you had to offer. It’s like you were giving yourself to him, allowing him to take everything from you, your own best friend.
“And how do you suppose we go back to being friends after this?” he asked, upper lip twitching along with his cock still pounding into your tight cunt, precum slipping out into your wetness enveloping him. “You think we can do that?”
You shook your head violently, eyes shut tightly in an attempt to focus on his words instead of the intense pleasure you were feeling, your cries and screams evidence of that.
“You gonna let me use this pathetic, whore pussy whenever I want then? We’re not friends anymore, that’s long gone. Now I’m gonna fuck you every single fucking day to my heart’s content. You’re gonna fulfill every desire of mine, like the good little slut you are, aren’t you?” he gripped your neck, squeezing enough to make your eyes pop open and hands struggle at the fuzz coating your wrists for freedom. You nodded, drool pooling around the corners of your mouth, lids drooping.
“I’ve always wanted this. Always wanted to use you like this, abuse your pretty cunt, fill it up with my cum. Always dreamt of this moment, beautiful. I’m gonna have so much fun with you now that I finally have you in my grasp,” he hummed, face inches from yours, each breath you took just recycled air from his lips. “You’re mine now, you’re never gonna get away.”
With one last thrust, lips colliding into yours, his hot, creamy liquid spewed out inside of your dripping cunt. Your orgasm was soon to follow, your tiny and weak body trembling under him as his hips glided against yours to help you ride it out. Your tongues were entwined, your meek whimpers falling against his recently explored mouth.
He slowly pulled away, a trail of spit falling between your lips as he analyzed your dreamy expression, your eyes seemingly in a daze. He smirked, leaving a gentle peck to your nose, “I think I might like you, friend.”

↬ a/n: shorter piece this time ! i’m not very inspired at the moment but this piece is better than no piece ^^ enjoy
“Can we just…shut our eyes…”
“Do you only come here just to sleep?” Kevin raised an eyebrow (knowing full well your eyes were closed) as you snuggled closer to his side and his arms instinctively wrapped tighter around your shoulders.
“We’re not even halfway through the movie.”
When you gave a huff in response, Kevin jokingly rolled his eyes, “I’m starting to wonder if you’re dating me or the bed. You sleepy bear.” You half-heartedly punched his shoulder, before kissing the same spot, causing him to chuckle at your antics.
“‘M not sleepy, just…it’s comfortable around you…” Kevin gently patted the back of your head, watching as your chest rose and fell steadily beside him. Reaching out with his right hand, he tucked the blanket securely around you, a smile on his lips mirroring yours.
“Okay, okay. We’ll finish this some other day.” Kevin relented, adjusting both your bodies so that he was holding you flushed against his chest. Staring at your peaceful form for a bit more, he leaned towards you, peppering kisses all over your face.
“I’m glad to be your safe space.”

Date: March 30th 2024
Sitting in the corner of the room you stare at all the people mingling with each other, laughing and giggling as if everything is normal and going oh so well in their lives when in fact it’s crumbling apart.
Taking a sip of the beer which was almost over you look around the room once again when your eyes meet his, staring at you from across the room.
You could feel your heart beating again, the way it started beating loudly made you scared, not because you feared him but because you feared yourself.
You swore to yourself that you had moved on from him. After everything you both went through, you thought it’s better if you stayed just as friends but you yourself knew that you both cannot be friends.
Every passing second of the day made you loathe him more, not because he was your ex but because he just decided to give up on your relationship just like that when you decided it was the end.
Keeping the can of bear on the nearest table you found you grabbed your coat and walked away from there. Not being able to sit there and act as if everything was alright when it in fact was not. You knew it was not, he knew it was not.
Date: March 20th 2024
Sitting on the bed you hold the necklace in your hand as you take in a deep breath. You hated arguing with him, in fact you hated when you would snap at each other simply because you both would bottle up your feelings.
The countless misunderstandings you both went through meant nothing at this point when your whole relationship is tearing apart like this.
“What’s the point?” You hear Kevin mumble briefly as he sits up from his lying position and places his head in his hands.
You could feel your heart breaking when you heard his voice for the first time ever since the argument you both had in the living.
You muster up the courage and strength to speak as you let out the words which were oh so irritating for someone in his shoes because of the obliviousness “What do you mean?”
You close your eyes when you hear Kevin let out a scoff, “You know what I mean, this is not working out. Whatever we have going on, none of it is working out. We can pretend that it’s all fine but deep down you know nothing is. Let’s stop wasting each other's time and just..end it.” Kevin says that as he stands up from the bed and grabs his coat to walk out of the room.
“Can we still be friends?” You ask him, halting in his steps Kevin turns around and lets out a small sigh when he sees your expectant eyes which were now filled with tears threatening to fall down and roll down your cheeks.
“We can’t be friends..” he says as he leaves the room and slams the door of your house shut.
You sit there in silence as you look around the room, on this very bed you celebrated your 20th birthday with him.
“We can’t be friends, but I’d just like to pretend…” you mumble to yourself as you bring your legs to your chest and let your tears fall down.
Date: March 30th 2024
Time: 12:47 PM
Walking down the street you hug yourself closer as you look up at the sky, it was empty which made you smile but it had no feelings.
You stop walking when you hear footsteps behind you, turning your head you could feel your face stiffening when you see Kevin running in your direction.
“Are you going back home?” He says once he is in front of you. Giving him a single nod you start walking again, not being able to stare at him for another second.
Walking in silence you stare at the ground while kicking the stones on the sidewalk. Taking in a deep breath you look up at Kevin who was walking beside you.
In his words he just wanted to make sure you reached home safely. Hence, the reason he decided to accompany you.
“Do you regret it?” You ask suddenly. You notice Kevin stopping in his tracks for a moment only to walk again as he tries to act nonchalant.
“Regret what?” He asks softly as he looks down at you, his eyes looking like daydreams. You still remember how you always felt seen and heard at night.
For you night is when you can finally be yourself, you don’t have to hide yourself anymore.
“Us breaking up…”
Letting out a deep breath Kevin looks at you with a small smile as he holds your hand guides you towards the end of the footpath to sit down on the ground.
“We needed to put an end to our story Y/N…I did not want to continue feeding on the monstrous fire which was increasing day by day. It’s difficult, yeah…but that’s the best for us.” He says softly as he holds your hands in hid for comfort.
“It’s hard. Really hard. I don’t know how you’re acting all fine..” you tell him as you pull your hand away from him.
“I am not fine if that’s what you’re wondering. I tell myself countless times to just wait for you to come back but then I was the one who broke up with you. I wish we could still be friends but I cannot get myself to do it. I cannot pretend to be your friend when I know I want more than that.” He says as he lets out a small sob.
“I can wait for you. I can wait for your love, I can do that..” you say as you try to stop yourself from crying over this again.
Shaking his head he lets your hand go as he stands up and helps you stand up.
“Can I just say one thing?” You say softly, your words coming out slurred as the alcohol starts getting to you. Giving you a small nod he helps you walk towards your house, “Know that you made me the happiest person when we were together. I couldn’t ask for more than what we had…it feels like you left me hanging by myself but I know I would have to move on and let this story die.”
You say everything in one go as you cough and hiccup. You notice Kevin opening his mouth to speak again but you stop him by putting your finger up telling him that you want to continue and that you’re not done yet, “For now, it’s only me but…but I’d like to pretend that we’re still friends, okay?” You say as you look at him with your expectant eyes.
“Okay…whatever you say..” he says softly as he looks down at your shining eyes which were staring back up at him. “Maybe that’s all you need to move on from me..” he says, mostly to himself but you catch onto it but he doubts you’d remember all this in the morning tomorrow.
Reaching your door steps he helps you stand straight as he looks through your bag to find your keys.
“You keep on clinging to your papers and pens, yeah?” You say softly in a joking manner as you enter the house and slam the door shut on his face.
Letting out a small chuckle Kevin looks at your door as he takes a step back, stuffing his hands in his pockets he takes a one last look at your door and walks away.
That’s an end to a story then, something which was bittersweet. There are some moments he wishes he could forget all together but most of them are the ones he cherishes the most and that’s what matters to him.
You guys maybe strangers to each other now but the time you both spent as lovers was some of the most valuable ones.

you slammed your foot hard against the wall and cursed in pain. you hopped on one foot to your bed, holding your other leg in agony and tasted blood as you bit your lip to keep the volume of your suffering groans in check. someone knocked on the door.
'are you okay?' your roommate asked concerned.
'no, leave me alone, kevin,' you croaked out. you wanted to suffer by yourself.
there was an awkward silence and then you heard him sigh. soon after, the door next to your room closed shut.
why were you so frustrated, one might ask? well, the pandemic was kicking your butt and you just couldn't take it anymore. when the news of the virus had first spread, no one thought it would become this serious. but suddenly everyone was walking around with masks and spent most of their time staying at home.
after graduating high school, you and kevin had decided to move in together for college because both of you were broke and couldn't afford to live alone. you had been best friends since middle school and had been convinced that it was a smart idea at the time.
and everything went smoothly for the first one and a half years. however, after not seeing anyone else since the start of the pandemic over a year ago, it became increasingly difficult to share an apartment, but not in the way one might assume. you were neither sick of each other nor did you fight a lot. to tell the truth, it was quite the opposite.
earlier, before you had kicked the wall in anger, the two of you had painted together. kevin was majoring in art and, since you didn't have anything better to do, you joined him while he did projects for his classes. you might have been majoring in journalism but you had always liked drawing and painting, even though you weren't particularly skilled. you were a naturally clumsy person, always tripping over air and dropping things. today you were hecticly moving around your hands while telling him about a stupid video you had seen and you accidently let go of the brush in your hand. it hit the side of kevin's face, leaving a wide splodge of red paint on his right cheek.
to get back at you, he jerked his paint brush and splattered some green color on your white shirt. you saw this as a challenge and soon both of you were both drenched in the colors of the rainbow, laughing hysterically on the floor, not caring that you were spreading the paint on the poor carpet.
you turned your heads to look at each other and you felt absolutely in peace. you loved this man and couldn't be more glad that it was him and not anyone else you were stuck with inside of this apartment.
he stood up to take off his stained shirt and your smile quickly faded off your face. your lips slightly parted and you couldn't help but stare at his now exposed biceps and abs.
your mouth watered and you felt heat pooling between your legs as you took your time to study his architecture. thoughts about how badly you wanted him to thrust into you while his strong arms held you up invaded your mind. you tried to shake them off but it was impossible.
occasions like this were slowly becoming a common occurrence for you.
having mostly stayed inside for over a year, also meant that you didn't have sex for that long. it's not like you were the horniest person on the planet but you still had needs that were being neglected. with kevin being home all the time you didn't even dare to masturbate, scared that he would be able to hear you through the frustratingly thin walls. you must have gone insane with all the lust building up inside you and that's why you suddenly craved to have sex with your best friend. this whole thing was destroying everything. it was hard to act normal when he was making you this nervous and heated but you tried to pretend that everything was fine anyway for the sake of your friendship.
that was the reason why you were angry and had hurt yourself. you hated the way you felt about your best friend and you hated the pandemic for not giving you an outlet to escape so you could recollect yourself.
what you weren't aware of was that kevin was no stranger to the exact same frustration.
he would need more than his ten fingers and ten toes to be able to count the amount of times he had to run to the bathroom to hide his boner because he had done so much as look at you bend over or stretch. he didn't want to make you uncomfortable but it was a challenge to try and calm down his hormones.
whenever he jacked off, images of you flashed through his mind; your sweet curves and pink lips drove him insane.
last week, you two were cooking together and you had asked him to get the salt. he stood behind you to reach for it on the highest shelf. he was forced to press his crotch against your butt cheeks and his dick hardened against his will. he quickly handed you the salt, excused himself and ran off before you could figure out what had happened.
he might not have known the cause of your sudden outburst but he sympathized with your fury because he had a lot of pent up anger towards covid as well.
he lay in his bed and tried to focus on the book he was reading but he couldn't tune out the groans coming from the room next to his. he cursed.
'stop it!' he was panicking as he saw a familiar tent forming in his pants. your sounds triggered some weird perverted part of his brain that sent signals right to his genitals. his dick was hardening and he saw no other solution to his problem than to give in to his subconscious desires.
he pulled down his pants just far enough so that his cock had enough room to spring out. it only needed a few strokes before it stood tall and angry. kevin pressed his head into his pillow and moved his hand fast. he wanted to get over with it quickly. he emptied his cum on his stomach while imagining your greedy little mouth being stuffed by his cock. he lay there panting as yet another round of shame flushed over him.
'get yourself together,' he whispered, mentally slapping himself.
***
'do you want to order japanese or italian?' you asked kevin. today was friday which meant it was time for your weekly tradition of ordering take out and watching a movie.
'definitely italian. we've already had japanese for the past four days. I need something else for a change,' kevin complained and shuddered at the thought of having to eat sushi again. the japanese restaurant prepared absolutely delicious food but he just couldn't stand it anymore.
you laughed at his pained facial expression. 'fine, italian it is.'
within twenty minutes the doorbell rang and after about half a minute kevin came back with two huge boxes.
he opened them on the small table situated in front of your couch and the smell of freshly cooked pasta seasoned with basil made your stomach growl.
kevin wanted to dig in already but you stopped him. you had to choose a movie first.
'let's watch tall girl. I saw everyone hate on it on tiktok,' you suggested.
'I think we should watch 365 days, that was all over my for you page as well,' kevin argued. you hadn't heard of it so you weren't sure whether it would be the right movie for you. the rule was that it had to be as bad as possible.
'according to what I have heard, it's apparently even worse than 50 shades of grey,' kevin added which piqued your interest. the both of you had watched 50 shades about two months ago and you were honestly shocked by how awful it actually was. you couldn't understand why everyone had been so obsessed with it when it was first released. if 356 days was really worse, then you'd hit the jackpot. you clapped your hands.
'fine, you win. I swear if the movie isn't as horrible as you say it is then you owe me something!' he intertwined his pinky with yours to promise.
watching horrible movies was way better than watching good ones. making fun of bad storylines, stupid characters or horrible editing was one of your favorite past times.
'I guess I'll have to add are you lost, baby girl to the top 10 worst lines ever spoken. who thought ah yes this is sexy, let's have him repeat it over and over again', you complained, shoving some pasta into your mouth.
'so he's like I won't do anything without your permission while he is literally groping her boobs against her will, like make it make sense, massimo', added kevin, ruffling his hair in frustration. he almost completely forgot about the food.
'so let me get this straight: he drugged her, kidnapped her, tied her up, hung up a painting of her just because he saw her face when his dad was shot?'
'totally relatable.' both of you giggled.
you were enjoying complaining about the plot. it was horrible.
there were plenty of erotic scenes but they were honestly so funny and kinda gross that you could bare it without really being affected by them. kevin, on the other hand, had placed a pillow over his hard-on to hide the embarrassing fact that these terrible, smutty scenes had turned him on.
and then the infamous boat scene came.
massimo and laura had a huge fight, she fell of the boat, he saved her and now she was suddenly so in love with him that she begs him to fuck her. which he does.
you felt your panties become increasingly wet as the couple had steaming hot sex.
'this is embarrassing but I'm so horny,' you admitted but in a way that should have suggested that you meant it as a joke. something about this statement stirred something in kevin.
'well, what can I say?' he replied and lifted the pillow. your pupils widened at the sight of your best friend's bulge.
his eyes darkened and he looked at you with lust clearly written on his face. you reciprocated his stare with the same intensity. you tried to focus on his dark brown orbs instead of his boner but the image you had just seen was present in your mind.
his gaze shifted to your lips and, before you knew it, kevin climbed above you and pressed your back flat onto the couch.
your lips locked and you immediately buried your hands in his hair to pull him closer. you moved in sync, his lips fitting perfectly onto yours. you bucked your hips up against his crotch and earned a moan from kevin. he opened his eyes in shock as realization hit him. he quickly pulled away and jumped off the coach.
'I'm so sorry, y/n. I shouldn't have just done that. I don't know what came over me,' he apologized profusely, staring at his feet. did he really think that you didn't want this?
'give me your hand,' you told him and held out your hand.
'why?' he raised his eyebrows in confusion. you rolled your eyes.
'just do it.'
you took his hand and led it to your crotch.
'what are you- oh my god.' your juices had completely soaked through your panties and your sweatpants. 'you are so wet.'
'for you,' you added. 'there's no need to apologize. I'm literally begging you to continue.'
you didn't have to say that twice before he pulled you closer to him by your hips and engaged you in another desperate kiss. his hands were groping your butt while you let yours slide under his hoodie. you felt his naked skin and toned abs, as you rubbed his stomach. you lowered your hands and bravely palmed his boner through his clothes.
'y/n,' he hissed out against your lips. you hooked your thumbs in the elastic of his pants and underwear, and pushed the material down to his thighs. he struggled to get them off.
you stroked his hard dick as he slipped his hand into your panties to massage your pussy at the same time.
he slipped one finger inside and began working it in and out. you finally were getting the relief you had been desperately craving for for so long. kevin was skilled and your walls were trying to swallow his slim finger. you were quickly coming close to your orgasm after having abstained for more than a year. you pulled his hand out.
'I bet you can make me come even better with your dick,' you challenged kevin.
'you bet I will.' he was confident.
'let me just look for a condom.' he was already turning away to go search in his room but you held him back by the arm.
'forget about it. I'm on the pill and I want you raw. I want you to come inside me and not spill into a stupid condom.'
the idea of this sounded very tempting to kevin. he picked you up and threw you back onto the couch, drawing your hips closer to him so he could pull off all the pieces of clothing that were hindering him from accessing your pussy.
he propped up his arms next to your sides and spread your thighs apart. strings of arousal were hanging from your folds and he saw your hole desperately clench around nothing. his dick hurt from how much he wanted to finally be inside of you. he wanted to find out how close he had been able to imagine how you would feel around him.
your hole took him in easily, welcoming him happily by embracing it tightly. kevin swore he could've cum right here and there.
he went slow at first to give you a chance to adjust but you were already fully ready, rocking your hips forward to meet his thrusts.
he crashed your mouths together and you kissed him like he was oxygen and you were short of air. you smiled and your eyes rolled back, satisfied with how things had played out today and the prospects of coming looked fairly promising.
desperate for release, kevin picked up the pace, his eyes closed while fucking into you like a horny animal. he couldn't help himself and all the 'faster's and 'harder's spilling from your mouth only encouraged him to drive himself deeper into you.
you wrapped your legs around his torso in an attempt to regain the control you were losing.
'fuck fuck fuck,' you cursed, feeling your muscles starting to contract. kevin brushed away some hair that was stuck to your sweaty forehead.
'it's fine, I'm coming too,' he announced and it took only a few more thrusts before a body shaking orgasm flushed over you, making you see only white. this drove kevin over the edge too and he spilled inside you, filling you up with his hot cum. he continued to slowly ease his dick in and out of you, fucking his semen right back into you until you had ridden out both of your orgasms. he let himself fall onto the couch right next to you, panting hard.
'I very much needed this,' you sighed in content.
'same, I wasn't sure whether I could hold out any longer without having a proper orgasm.' he watched his cum drip out of you.
'we should've thought of this sooner,' you said. 'this was a great idea.'
kevin hummed in agreement.
***
so now you and kevin were having sex on a regular basis, your high score being five times in a day. it felt good to finally live out your sexuality and not having to restrict yourself. sure, you guys did it more than necessary but it was a great way to pass time and it felt fucking amazing.
today you had done it in the shower after waking up, then on the kitchen counter and you had just finished having sex in his bed.
he was spooning you from behind, his cock still placed inside of you. he nuzzled his nose into your neck.
'stop, that tickles,' you chuckled.
'sorry.'
after a while of comfortable silence you heard him let out a big sigh.
'what's wrong?' you asked as he pulled out of you. you turned around to be able to look at him.
'I don't think I can do it like this anymore,' he confessed.
'what do you mean?' you asked. 'are you talking about us having sex?'
he nodded. your heart dropped and you started feeling dizzy. you tried to search for answers in his eyes but he avoided looking at you.
'w-why?' you stuttered, trying to hold back the tears that were welling up in your eyes.
'it was amazing at first,' he started and finally raised his head to meet your gaze, 'and I went into it without much thought. I went crazy during quarantine and began fantasizing about having sex with you. then it became reality but now I understand that was probably wrong of me. I've always thought of myself as a gentleman, yet I slept with you without much thought. you see, my issue is this…'
suspense hung in the air and you were impatiently waiting for him to get to the point.
'I like you.'
you quietly gasped in surprise. you had been expecting him to say you were bad at sex and that he regretted everything but not this.
'I shouldn't be sleeping with you unless you were my girlfriend,' he finished off his ramble. you felt immensely relieved.
'do you want me to?' you asked him.
'want you to what?' kevin was confused. he had been a hundred percent sure you'd immediately jump out of the bed in disgust when he confessed.
'be your girlfriend. after all, I like you too, you moron.' you realized that you had known this for a while. you might have even been crushing on your best friend since way before the pandemic struck but it was kind of hard to track your feelings. still, you were sure you liked him too. now that he had admitted his feelings, you were able to admit yours not only to him but to yourself as well.
'wow, I didn't expect this,' kevin confessed surprised. you laughed.
'yeah, we should've realized this sooner.' he pulled you closer and kissed you. it was different than the other times. his lips moved softly against yours, in contrast to all of your rough and passionate kisses you had exchanged these past few weeks. he conveyed his emotions through the kiss.
'you're ready again?' you groaned as you felt kevin's dick harden against your upper thigh. he chuckled.
'sorry, you just turn me on so much.'
so then you did it for the fourth time. that day, you set a new record of having sex six times. you might have been happy now but still just as horny.

Kevin was the nicest guy you’ve ever met. Pretty personality, pretty smile, amazing to have around, everything that you ever dreamt about in a guy was found in him. He was nothing but a pure ray of sunshine.
When you first met, you felt like you were living in a fairy-tale. Everything he said or everything he did always managed to make your heart swell in your chest, feeling like it was about to burst into pieces at how sweetly he treated you.
But there were other days, like today, where Kevin was everything but cute. He always treated you respectfully, of course, but when it came to the bedroom, it was as if he turned into someone else. The look that he had in his eyes was borderline animalistic, sometimes his attitude crossing this barrier and become ruthless.
With your legs resting on top of his shoulders, Kevin’s fists rested on each side of you, his biceps flexing at each of his drilling thrusts, satisfied at how loud you were progressively getting.
His dick reached the deepest part of your core and this new position that you decided to try enhanced the pleasure. You had discovered it by mistake when you took a book from the wrong shelf today at the bookstore, and it lingered in your mind during the day so much that you had to tell your boyfriend about it.
“I’m glad you were being a naughty girl and went in the adult section at the bookstore today, it just feels so good,” Kevin whispers under his breath before moaning, punctuating his sentence by a sharp thrust that gets out a whine from your mouth.
“K-Kevin, please keep going,” that’s all you managed to utter as you were getting too lost in the pleasure to think coherently. His cock was hitting some parts that you didn’t know existed inside your own body, stretching your walls out oh so heavenly.
“Aw, does it feel good babe?” you could only nod at his teasing, feeling your high approaching at a high pace. Your face softly twisted in pleasure, the sight encouraging your boyfriend to keep on penetrating your cunt deeply.
“A-ah, Kevin!” you grabbed the back of his thighs to keep him close and he grunted as your walls closed tightly around his dick, squeezing him oh so deliciously.
“Y/N, if you keep doing that I’m gonna cum,” he moaned, and you nodded with imploring eyes, gripping on his thighs harder.
“Yes, please, cum in me, I want it,” you were forced to let go as Kevin’s chest was pressed flushed against yours, his lips seizing yours in a swift, needy kiss.
“You want it? Tell me how bad,” he mumbled, almost out of breath, one of your legs falling off from his shoulder as he kept the other one up, kissing the skin of your calf.
“Please Kev- fuck! Keep going Kevin, please, please, you feel so good babe,” you mumbled, and your boyfriend gave firmer thrusts, your walls constricting around him.
With one final high-pitched scream, your jaw fell slack as your orgasm hits you hard. It forced your eyes to close as your back arched off the bed, Kevin still thrusting to help you fully ride your high, groaning as it was becoming difficult to thrust in properly.
You wail in overstimulation as his pace didn’t subside, his hand clutching onto your leg before dropping everything to nuzzle his face in your neck. His groans of pleasure started getting louder and raspier, biting on your shoulder as he released his seeds deep inside your cunt, your walls squeezing him until he let go of his last drop of cum, the sensation of getting filled up making you gasp loudly.
“Oh my god, that feels so nice,” he mumbled, out of breath, slowly removing himself from your upper body, letting you come down of the bliss that was hitting you both from this new, raw experience. You whined as you felt so complete, stuffed with his dick and his cum up to the brim.
“While you were busy reading naughty things at the bookstore, I went on and bought this,” Kevin said, out of breath, his dick still inside you as he shifted to pull on the drawer of the bedside table. To your surprise, he held up a plug, his thumb pressing on the pretty, pink gemstones that decorated the bottom part of the toy.
He signalled you to open your mouth and gently pressed it on your tongue, your lips closing around it to warm it up for a few seconds. You re-opened your mouth when his fingers wrapped around the gemstones and he quickly replaced his cock with it, the texture, as well as the temperature making you gasp and squirm as it was colder than your boyfriend.
“There, so you won’t lose any drop of my cum,” he smirks before caressing your cheek tenderly, his hand landing on your jaw. “You look so pretty stuffed with my cum, we should do this more often,” you lazily chuckled at his words and kissed his inner palm, gazing at him with sparkling eyes.
“Why? You want miniature versions of ourselves?” you teasingly grinned, and Kevin helped you sit up on his lap, your naked chests pressed flush together.
“Maybe… What do you think? It’s your choice, after all, I’m not the one carrying a child in me, so it’s up to you. Just to let you know that I’m not against it,” he smirked, and you pulled him closer to connect your lips, your tongues dancing together.
“We’ll see… but now, all I think of is a second round, what do you think?”

artist!kevin moon x senator's daughter!reader
after a long night, you find yourself on the front doorstep of a man who's heart you still held tightly in your grasp.
4.0k words, exes 2 lovers?, bittersweet angst with a happy ending, kissing, swearing, mentions of arranged marriages and controlling parents, mentions of social class, it takes place in washington dc bc i had a specific place in mind lol but i've also only went to dc once(???)
a/n: dug this up and dusted off the cobwebs — originally inspired (partly) by youngk's cover of moon river <3 (im sorry i always give you angst kevin...)
Tumblr media
It was late when you knocked on his door. It was so late, in fact, that the fog had begun to roll over the Potomac and dampen the cobblestones beneath your shoes. You would have taken off the death traps your mother called fashion, but you'd seen your friends on the rowing team get foot diseases before. The streetlights here glowed from their perches in golden yellow flames, not amber like they did in some parts of the district.
You hadn't really expected him to answer. You knew he was almost guaranteed to be awake, but there were always exceptions. You knew he would recognize you, too, but if he would open the door for you… it didn't matter that he was the kindest person you'd ever met, there were always exceptions.
His expression sat carefully blank when you faced him, a war brewing in his beautiful eyes of a long past you shared. He swallowed, scanning your form.
"I'm sorry," you managed to say. You suddenly felt stupid. Why were you here? Why had you run all the way across the river to his place in Georgetown? Why him? Out of all the people, you chose the one person who's heart you let fall to the ground and shatter. It was a miracle he even opened the door. "I—I didn't know who else to go to."
The bobby pins in your hair stabbed your head and intensified the headache building in your scalp. It had been a long night; you weren't sure if you were even of sound mind and thought right now.
Kevin Moon considered you for a moment, his eyes and posture softening at the lines. "Come in," he murmured as he stepped aside in the doorway, "it's late."
You swallowed as you took slow steps into his townhouse and he closed the front door behind you. Everything was as you had last seen it—pictures of him and his family, his friends; his artwork hung on the entryway walls; stair leading up to the upper floors, and hallway traveling back toward the parlor and kitchen. You could extract the memories that you had of this place, but that would keep you up the rest of the night. It would be a dangerous endeavor, you thought, as if coming to Kevin in the first place wasn't already.
"Here." He held out one toned arm for you to grasp. "So you can take off your shoes."
You gave a barely-there nod. "Oh, uhm, thank you," you said, locking your hand against his forearm as you swiftly discarded the stilettos from your feet. When your aching feet met flat ground, a weight fell from your shoulders, and you lined up the pair against the wall neatly by his shoe rack.
He began trekking up the stairs, beckoning you to follow. "You can have the guestroom," he sighed, carding a hand through his hair. It stuck up in the back, you noticed whilst following him up, which meant he had probably been tossing and turning for awhile.
Everything smelled the same, felt the same.
A different weight fell upon your chest, suffocating. Was it a mistake to come here? It was all coming back to you.
And he was opening the only other bedroom door besides his on the floor, leaving the door open for you to follow. He fluffed the pillows and pulled a blanket out from the closet shelf. This room used to be for guests, not for you, but that change was your fault.
"I'll grab you something to change into," he said in the silence with one hand cupped behind the back of his neck. He didn't look at you this time. "You still know where everything is?"
"Yeah," you rasped. You cleared your throat and held your clutch in front of yourself like a pitiful shield. "Thanks, Kevin. I… I promise I'll be out of your hair by the morning."
A beat passed. You felt his eyes on you and met them.
"Just—" his arm fell to his side and tucked into the pocket of his sweats, "—take your time, Yn. Good night."
You watched him leave. "Good night."
Tumblr media
The house was quiet again after you finished washing up in the bathroom and retreated into the guest room. Kevin could hear the door close even from the third floor in his attic studio, his feet pressed against the cool wood, eyes staring out at the half-filled canvas on the easel. He'd been stuck for awhile, having not yet decided what he wanted to do with the rest of it. This indecisiveness came with the artist's block, unfortunately.
He didn't like to admit that one of the few ways to get him out were the dozens of canvases shoved against the far corner. There was a drop cloth draped over them so he wouldn't get distracted, but… most nights he couldn't resist.
There was always something soulful about the way he painted your eyes. It had always been that, and your smile, that he intentionally captured first whenever he painted your portrait. It was a greedy, selfish attempt to keep some part of you for himself because he knew that it was and could never be like that in the real world. He knew that fact all too well.
The vision of you on his porch tonight… he'd almost believed he was dreaming.
Kevin released a frustrated huff from his mouth, rubbing his hands down his face, then up through his hair. His brushes remained untouched, canvas on the easel left undone.
He stood from his stool and quietly made his way back down to the second floor.
He could've sent you away, he thought. He could've, but did he want to?—
"Oh. Hi."
His eyes shot up at the sound of your voice, meek and soft. You stood in the doorway of the guest bedroom with his T-shirt and sweatpants hanging from your frame like it was two years ago. He lost his breath for a second; he didn't think you were still awake. "Did I wake you?" He asked, clutching the banister.
"No," you said while leaning against the door jamb. "I was… I wasn't sleeping."
That made the both of you.
"You still have bandaids in the medicine cabinet?" You asked him.
He nodded, stepping down fully onto the second floor. "Yeah. How many did you need?" He shoved the intrusive thoughts away from the forefront of his mind and replaced them with the idea of bandages. He padded over into the bathroom, turning the light on to rifle through the medicine cabinet.
Never mind that you knew where they were and that you were capable of getting them yourself—he already lost when he let you into his house.
You slipped in behind him. "Just a couple small ones is okay—for my feet."
Oh, right. He'd nearly forgotten you must have traveled all the way from across the river to get here in those god awful shoes. Not only that, but no doubt spent an entire night in them at some stuck-up, rich-prick gala—
Not now, he hushed. Most of the time, it was never your choice to even go to those functions.
He withdrew the box of Band-Aids he kept, all beat up from years of figuring out where they belonged. There was a mishmash of sizes, but most of the medium-sized ones were all gone, leaving only the extreme sizes on the spectrum. He picked out a few of the small ones for you, staring at the tile on the floor while you sat on the lid of the toilet to cover your blisters and bruises.
“I know that my showing up here unannounced was really unfair to you,” you suddenly said. He raised his head a little. You were grabbing your heel now, gently massaging your foot. “Especially at this time of night. I—” You paused, “I just—I’m sorry.”
If he didn't think about it too much, he could pretend this apology was only about you showing up unannounced, out of the blue, at an ungodly hour, and not about every other elephant in the room.
“It's okay, I understand,” he murmured. He felt his body move to settle on the edge of the bathtub across from you to take your foot from your hand to rub soothing circles into your aching bones.
You connected gazes again and he saw the flicker of gratitude in them, and something else he didn't want to see. Hope was so cruel sometimes. “You don't have to do this.”
“I know. I want to.”
It felt like college all over again, just you and him. Those four years had been some of the best years of his life—but they were filled with naïve bliss. The long, humid summer days and nights along the river; the golden light filtering through his windows as you read and he painted; the picnics on the Georgetown University lawns; the echo of your laughter against cobblestone walls and streets.
They were engraved into his memory, even with the rose-tinted lenses off.
He would call it a fever dream, but he knew you were solid and real when he held you. Your smile was real, your love was palpable. He could hear your humming in his kitchen in the evenings and feel the ghost of your arms around him in the mornings.
When you were called away by your family to fulfill filial obligations, you would always return home to him. Not them, him.
In this moment, he knew exactly what he was doing, even if he chose to pretend he didn't. Like this wouldn't lead to his heart getting broken again when all that was left of you in the morning was your perfume on his clothes and bandaid wrappers in the trash.
“So what was tonight about?” He piped up, daring another glance at you.
You shook your head. “You don't have to—”
“Only if you're comfortable.” Sometimes it helped for you to talk about it, and sometimes it didn't. He wanted to help, nonetheless. He still cared about you, after all.
You wrestled down a swallow. “It was some dumb charity that wasn't even about the charity,” you rasped, returning your bare feet to the floor when he was done rubbing the hurt away. You had to look away, and he resisted the urge to turn your chin back to him. “And something about—something about marriage.”
His heart fell to the bathroom tiles. “What?”
Marriage?
“It—it’s nothing—”
“Nothing,” he repeated, speechless.
“Not nothing,” you amended, tripping over your words. You shouldn't have mentioned it. Why would you mention it? Out of everyone, you and to say it to him. “My parents mentioned something about it, but it's just one of those things where they're urging me to start looking. I don't know. It's not arranged or anything.”
He said exactly what both of you were thinking, “Yet.”
You looked at him then. He saw the way silver lined your eyes, the hurt threatening to spill over just like what pounded against the floodgates of his heart. Yet.
If you waited any longer, who knew what your parents would do to secure a political alliance? You were a Senator's daughter, your family's jewel and pawn piece. You were born to be someone Kevin couldn't be with and god-fucking-damn did that hurt like a bitch.
They were giving you time to make your own, careful choice. It was an illusion of free will that made him seethe and ache for you.
“It's gonna be fine,” you said with little to no strength behind the words. “I'll be fine.”
Kevin stared at you. You and he had shared plenty of arguments about this exact topic before and it all ended in the same place. He didn't know what to say this time to make you say or think or do differently.
What could he possibly say to make you stay? To make you rethink your entire life and career, to make you turn your back on your own family?
“I'm sorry I said anything about this.” You sighed. “I don't know why I said anything about this.”
He swallowed. “I asked in the first place; it's okay.” His hands yearned to touch your skin, to swaddle you in his arms and rock you into assurance. He missed when he could reach over and warm your knee with his palm to silently tell you he was here and listening.
“We should try to sleep. I've taken so much of your time already. I'm sor—”
“Yn, love, stop saying you're sorry.” You didn't ask for any of this and you kept acting like you did, like it was your fault. He couldn't fault you for anything if he tried.
It looked like you were about to say something to him. He could practically taste the words that sat on your tongue.
Tell me I'm not suffering alone. Tell me that you still love me, even after all this time.
Instead, you nodded while rubbing your eye. “Okay,” you exhaled. “Thanks for the bandaids and your time.”
When you stood, so did he. He pressed a warm palm to the small of your back to lead you out of the bathroom, his other hand hitting the light switch.
He reluctantly drew his hand away from you to step towards his own bedroom.
He heard you stop, his head pathetically raising to meet you as you turned around.
“Kevin, I…” There it was again.
Oh, he wanted so badly for you to say it. But it was late and neither of you were in the right state of mind.
“Sleep on it,” he whispered. He couldn't handle any of those words exchanged now if you were going to regret it later. “Please.”
You inclined your head, lips pressing together. “Good night.”
“Good night,” he said back, for the second time tonight, and for as many opportunities as he was granted. As long as he didn't have to say goodbye instead.
Tumblr media
Sleep refused to take you and you tossed and turned for what felt like hours. Two long hours of torture, and you gave up, throwing the sheets off your body to step over to the window. The street below was dark with only a small halo of golden light from a street lamp to provide some reprieve from the darkness. You'd always seen this back street from Kevin's bedroom, never this one. It was so odd seeing it from a different point of view.
You closed your eyes with a sigh and rested your forehead against the cool glass. What were you doing here? Why were you troubling a man who you'd already troubled before? Your being here had to be bad for the both of you, but why did your being here feel right instead? You could separate comfort from rightness anymore, couldn't find where the line was in the sand because maybe you had danced all over it before to muddle it up.
Maybe you didn't want to define it—you just wanted it to be him.
You would never forget this moment, standing with your eyes closed against a cold window pane, that you came to an understanding. You had little to no sleep in your system, but your heart hurt as much as your feet, and while there were plenty of ways to soothe sore feet, there weren't as many to heal a broken heart.
Maybe a glass of water would refresh you enough to fall asleep. It would be terrible of you to wake him up, especially when you'd bothered him this much. He had already done so much for you.
But you'd seen him just hours ago, and you'd seen the tenderness in his gaze, felt the tenderness in his touch.
The way he'd asked for you to “sleep on it” had been loaded with something. Hope was so cruel sometimes.
Your chest tightened and you pulled away from the window. You stepped over to the door to quietly open it and slip out. There was no light coming out from beneath Kevin's bedroom door, and you tiptoed across the landing to make your way downstairs.
When you'd successfully retrieved a glass of water, you climbed back up the stairs, only to freeze at the sight of Kevin stepping up onto the ones leading up to the attic. Your heart galloped at the sight of him.
“I hope I didn't wake you up,” you whispered this time, gesturing to the cup of water in your hand. “I just needed some water.”
He nodded. “Don't worry about it. Can't sleep still?” He asked.
You shook your head. Not even if you tried.
He seemed to understand, and with a sweep of his hand through his hair, he beckoned you up to the third floor with him.
You hadn't been up to the attic for as long as you had been away from Kevin. It was his studio space, somewhere he could let his creativity run wild. There were canvases pressed and stacked up against the slanted roof, paint cans and boxes of brushes off to the side, and the chaise lounge you always draped yourself over when the sun filtered in just right. It was the perfect spot to curl up with a good book, and you could feel its cushioned back imprinted against yours even now.
The memories all flooded back in one, big tidal wave and your hand tightened around your cup.
“Are you working on anything?” You asked quietly, lingering at the stair landing to sip your water. You feared you weren't allowed to venture further, as if you needed permission to wander now.
He glanced back at you from his easel stool, forehead creasing between his brows when he saw you still standing there. “Yn, you can sit,” he said, nodding to the chaise lounge. “Not really,” he confessed. “I just… I've been in a block, I guess.”
You crept over to the lounge chair and seated yourself on the edge, stiff and with your legs crossed one over the other. You leaned your forearms onto your knees, looking in the direction of Kevin, his body half blocked by the wooden easel. “Ah, I see,” you murmured. “Have you had trouble sleeping lately?”
His eyes flickered to yours. “It's… on and off. You?”
“Same.” Your mind went to what you thought about in the guest bedroom earlier. Would it be out of left field to spring it up on him? You didn't even know if he felt the same way anymore, but… but you had to try, didn't you?
Why did you come to him? Out of all the people and places in this city, your feet carried you here.
“I—” Both of you said at once, eyes clashing when you realized the other's voice was speaking.
“You first,” he said.
You shook your head. “No, please. I—I think you should go first.”
He seemed to hesitate, but relented. There was so much emotion in the way he looked at you then; the wideness of his eyes gave it all away. “Why are you here, Yn? Why are you really here?”
It was like he could read your mind. You knocked back the rest of your water and placed the empty cup on the floor a little ways from your feet so you didn't knock it over. “I,” you began, “I don't… at least, I don't consciously know.”
He pursed his lips together. “Do better than that. I know you can.”
You knew he was right; you could do better. You knew the truth, but it was a matter of how much courage you had to face it. “Kevin, I—I should've never let you go that easy, and I should've never let my judgment be swayed by my parents as it had. I'm so sorry for hurting you; you never deserved it. You never deserved any of it.
“I think,” you said, one hand grabbing your other shoulder, “after all this time, I still know who I want, and it's never been anyone but you. That's why—that’s why I'm here.” You wished you could shrink into yourself with his gaze pinned to you like it was. “And this is all so unfair to you—I know. I know it is, and I am so, so sorry.”
You would bear your entirety to him in hopes that he believed you and saw your sincerity. Because while your parents had raised you to be their perfect daughter, they missed the part when you fell hopelessly in love with your best friend from college. It tore you apart that day they forced you to part ways with him—you knew it did just the same to him, too.
Kevin was quiet for a moment with a pensive expression on his face burning into his floorboards. He suddenly stood and made his way over to you, your body shifting to make room for him on the chaise. The pair of you sat side by side with your shoulders and legs pressed against each other, sharing the other's warmth.
“I don't blame you if you're bitter,” you said. “I would be, too. And you can kick me out if that makes you feel better, because I…”
“Don't say it's because you deserve it.”
You tilted your gaze over to him.
He shook his head. “You don't deserve it. You hurt me, yes, but I know why you did it and I can't blame you for it, no matter how hard I try.” He turned his gaze up to the ceiling for a moment. “Sometimes I wish I had been born in a different position so neither of us would have to hurt so much.”
Your chest ached.
“It's not your fault,” you said. “Kevin, it was never your fault.”
His smile curled into something somber as his hand reached over to thumb your cheek. “I know it's not. And it's not yours either.”
For a moment, his hand lingered, and you let it.
“Don't marry someone else,” he said so quietly you thought you'd imagined it. But there was that tenderness in his eyes then, loving and imploring, and you knew you hadn't just kidded yourself.
His hand went to cup the side of your face. “I can't—” he swallowed, “I can't stomach that thought. I love you too much to see you unhappy.” His words were slurring together, voice watery, as he attempted to cover it up by pressing his lips to your hairline.
“I love you so much it hurts,” you told him in earnest. “Of course I'd run back here to you. It's always been you.” No amount of parental control could change that. They could never choose who you fell in love with when your heart was yours to give.
Kevin shifted to press his lips against yours, soft and cautious, giving you the space to back out. You reciprocated though, hands coming up to cup his face. And as you kissed, a sense of comfort settled over you, something akin to contentment, like knowing this was where you were meant to be. All the worries and heartache melted away for one split second of bliss that you found in a man whom you loved too much to let go.
His nose gently bumped against yours, his thumb caressing your cheekbone affectionately. “I love you. You can break my heart when you leave in the morning, but let me have this at least.”
“You can have this, and you can have me,” you said, nodding against him. You were going to fight this time; you would fight until you bled because you would be damned if you let him go so easily a second time. “You've always had me.”

the boyz ; making out with them
warnings ; suggestive. slight smut.
authors note; hi! thought id continue on with making the boyz content. you may request! they are open. same with my inbox with your fantasies. <3
Tumblr media
Sangyeon
he loves making out with you. he loves pulling you on his lap and pulling you close to him as you two share the moment together. not only will he be a bit rough with you but he will tease and just make you a flustered mess. he will tease with his tongue the most so he ready for that. might even tell you how much he loves you on his lap.
Juyeon
this boy. ugh, since he’s my bias i might go nuts with this one. you love his lips and he knows that so he teases you about it. he slowly leans in, kissing you softly at first until he gets in the mood and pulls you in close by your chin and crashes his lips on yours. his kisses are always wet but you love that. he’s a messy kisser. he’ll also move from your lips and go down to you neck, slightly marking you. once he finds his way back to your lips he makes sure to tease you with his tongue.
Jacob
he is such a soft boy. you guys were just laying in the bed, the other members out doing things. he couldn’t help but to keep kissing your face and lips so it slowly turned into a soft makeout session. jacob is just so soft and so loving. they all are but there’s something about him that makes it just so soft. he makes soft noises while you guys makeout and he always has his hands on you in some way.
Younghoon
younghoon, oh boy, he loves you on his lap. just like sangyeon, he wants you on his lap, very close. you must be touching him in some way. he likes to have one hand on your waist and the other hand on your face pulling you in close to him. he loves slow and wet kisses. boy he loves it. he loves when you make noises when you guys have a makeout session as well.
Hyunjae
mr. hyunjae loves it rough. he loves when you guys have rough makeout sessions. gripping your waist tightly as he pushes you against the wall. he bites your bottom lip a lot. he thinks it’s hot when he does it and you whine out. something about that just makes him want to do it more. he likes slow makeout sessions as well but he can’t pass up a rough, messy one. just being in control of the situation is what he loves the most.
Kevin
god kevin. he’s just adorable. very sweet. he laughs a lot when you guys makeout. he can’t help but to make soft jokes and laugh. you love it though. his kisses are slow but rough. just the way you like it. he knows that. his hands are usually on top of your thighs. he loves your thighs. he likes open kisses as well. he can’t stand small pecks.
Chanhee
chanhee. this soft boy but boy that loves to tease. he will give you soft touches on your waist or thigh or arms. he wants you to be laying down beneath him as he slowly leans in and starts with the soft kisses. though it heats up quickly because he can’t help but to become needy. he loves your lips and makes sure to let you know that. he nips at your bottom lip from time to time just to tease and get a reaction from you.
Changmin
changmin. he loves to have you against the wall. your legs wrapped around his waist. pushed up against you. he loves to kiss up and down your neck before he reaches your lips. once he does, it’s over for you. makeout sessions with him are hot. hot, steamy, just amazing. you love them. the way his lips clash onto yours in a heated, wet kiss. he loves to play with your tongue. like i said: MESSY.
Juhaknyeon
to me, he’s soft.. but.. he won’t hesitate to TAKE OVER. he won’t hesitate to take your arms and pull them back so you can’t touch him as he touches all over you and teases you. he loves the way his lips move in sync with yours. his lips are bigger and he loves that he can use them to tease you and just make you a mess. though he loves soft and slow makeout sessions as well. he will show you who’s in charge when he’s in the mood.
Sunwoo
this boy. he teases a lot. he flirts a lot. he’ll flirt with you nonstop as you two makeout. he will say things that make you blush. though you love it, i think he’ll like it when you do the same. touch him softly, get rough with him. he likes that. his kisses are rough, deep, and passionate. he will always be that way. even with you in charge. he knows what to do with his lips and he uses that as his advantage.
Eric
i love this man. eric is just a boy who teases the hell out of you until you can’t take it anymore. he loves to makeout with you in the dance practice room or studio. something about it just makes him feel adventurous. you on his lap, or against the wall, he loves it and takes control. though he doesn’t mind when you take control. his lips are soft against yours and they move in sync. that’s what makes him a mess. is that you guys move in sync with each other.

[6:04AM]
warnings: suggestive, pathetic angst
Six in the morning leads to downturned gazes and shared silence after an unexpected night of hooking up with your ex in the backseat of his car.
You're comfortably settled in his lap, legs dangling off to the side as your side presses firmly into his chest.
Kevin drums his fingers against your back, a loving yet saddened look on his face. His chest still heaves from earlier, and he looks at you with hope glistening in his eyes. It quickly dies down when he realizes that you and him can never be together no matter the circumstances. You two are too perfect to end up as one, so he's doing all he can to treasure the moment brought upon him on his special day.
Your head gracefully drops onto his shoulder with your nose brushing against the crevasse of his neck every time you shift. It isn't hard to notice how you've startled Kevin due to your unexpected motions considering his own movements have stuttered thanks to the tickle provided by your breath, but he doesn't halt his little habits. The rain that patters against his windows follow rhythmically with the tapping on your back, and occasionally he'd run his fingers up and down.
“I'm sorry,” you say, allowing your eyelids to flutter shut.
“It's okay.”
“We've broken up months ago.”
“I know.” Kevin rests his head on top of yours, securing your position by looping an arm around you to keep you close. “I was there, dummy.”
“It's wrong. This, what we did, was wrong.”
"It was.”
Silence trails after his dry response, but then he speaks up, voice hoarse after the hours you've spent with him.
“I never moved on anyway, so I don't mind.”
You can tell he's trying to lighten the mood, but it only breaks your further.
“God, I basically used you,” you murmur, but he cranes his head to have his plump lips meet your damp cheeks, reassuring you with the simple kiss.
“Consider it my birthday gift.”
“Kevin...” You pick up your head to look at him, but he quickly rejects whatever you planned on saying with the shake of his head.
“It's okay. Whatever you have to say, it's okay.”
“You don't deserve this.” Your seriousness makes him gulp, and he averts his eyes elsewhere.
“Look, I consented, yeah?” Hesitantly, Kevin takes a strand of your hair and places it behind your ear, avoiding your gaze while doing so. “If I become hurt, it'll be me to blame because I'm the one who took you inside my car when you were broken and gave you an extra shoulder to lean on...and sure, I did more than give an extra shoulder, but it was me and my doing, okay?”
You take in his words, processing them with every passing second.
“...I never wanted to hurt you. I never want to hurt you.”
Kevin purses his lips as he rests one of his hands on your thigh, brushing his thumb against your skin as he thinks.
“It was...out of your control. You can't control the way you feel, and neither can I. I just managed to get the bad end of the stick.” A bitter chuckle cuts off his words, and he's shaking his head once again in disbelief. “It's just how life works.”
“I loved you,” you say sincerely, looking at him with glossy eyes. “And I never want you to believe otherwise. I loved you, Kevin. I really, really did.”
He sucks in his cheek and gently gnaws on it. His eyes flicker back and forth between you and the windows of his car before shutting them tight, rather wanting to deal with the emptiness the blankness provides. With a deep breath, he whispers.
“I know.”

obvious - kv.m.
Tumblr media
pairing: Kevin x fem reader (ft. Verivery Minchan)
genre: best friends to lovers!au, angst, fluff.
word count: 13.2K.
summary: Kevin has loved you for so long, having to hear many times how much you’d like to find someone like him. He’s made it obvious, but since you don’t seem to hear the lightning, maybe he would have to say it in a love song.
Your feet made their way straight to the cafeteria. Arm wrapped with your best friend’s as the both of you watched the way how every step you took was in perfect sync, enjoying it and innocently finding it funny, like you did when you two were younger. Chatting about anything and everything, just giggling like the pair of idiots the rest of the campus probably thought you were.
Having your eyes glued to your matching feet, resulted in you bumping into someone. Your eyes immediately shot up a look with shock, placed your free hand to rub your now sore arm and absent-mindedly unlinking your arm from Kevin’s. Your friend kept silent, just staring at the intruder of your little moment, sensing the way your body immediately tensed, eyes wandering between you, and the person in question.
“I’m s-sorry!” You stammered, feeling your breath stuck in your throat the moment you saw the person that had collided with you.
Jet black, fluffy hair that dangled perfectly over his dark eyes. Small nose, plush lips with a very well defined cupid’s bow, and pearl white teeth that showed up as soon as he smiled apologetically, bowing to you.
“No, I’m sorry. I hope I didn’t hurt you, are you okay?” He asked, his deep voice sending butterflies to your stomach right away. You felt your heart throb at his concern, cheeks burning in embarrassment and all the words you could’ve said in either apology or response, suddenly vanishing from your mind as if you had lost the ability to speak. You managed to nod your head somehow, too caught up in his handsome features and your fear of having stupid words promptly falling from your mouth at the slightest try. “Good. I wasn’t looking properly. Again, I’m sorry. I’ll see you around.”
With a subtle smile on his lips and those words, he just walked away. Your head turning around, letting your eyes  shamelessly follow his silhouette until he got lost among the people.
Hong Minchan. A senior you had always had a crush on. Top student, handsome, well-spoken and humble. The person every guy wished to be, and every girl wanted to have a date with... Including you.
He was off limits, too out of your league and you were perfectly aware of it. Still, you just couldn’t help yourself from becoming some sort of statue whenever he was around. He probably knew at that point about it, considering how long your eyes remained on him and his sculpted body, making yourself feel like just another one of his stalkers, the ones that were just waiting for the littlest bit of his attention to make a move on him with some shameless flirting.
Your friend cleared his throat, pulling you out of your thoughts and snapping you back to reality. You turned your head to look at him, as he raised a brow. He rolled his eyes and moved his hand to place it under your chin, gently pushing your jaw upwards and closing your open mouth.
“Close your mouth, you’ll catch a fly.” He just said, starting to walk again, now with his hands tucked in his pockets.
“Oh my god. Was I too obvious?” You asked, rushing to follow him and finally matching his pace again, panicking at the simple idea of making a fool of yourself in front of someone like Minchan.
“Why do you ask?” He looked at you, pulling one of his hands out of his pocket and rubbing his chin with his fingers as if he was deep in thoughts, although it was more than obvious that he was just clearly ready to tease you. “Was it because of the way you couldn’t even blink, or maybe because your brain couldn’t either formulate sentences or at least keeping your mouth closed?”
You smacked his arm and he chuckled, then pouted, rubbing his arm and faking sadness.
“Kevin! Oh god, why did you let me embarrass myself like that?” You whined, tugging on his sleeve in desperation. He clicked his tongue, opening the door for you to walk into the cafeteria, with him following afterwards.
“Ah come on. It was cute. Just make sure to close your mouth next time though, you could’ve drooled and now, that wouldn’t have been cute.” He added, making his way to the table.
You groaned, folding your arms over your chest like a little girl throwing a tantrum, finding the rest of your friends already seated and eating lunch. You sat between Changmin and Chanhee, smiling to them as you greeted each other.
“Why are you grumpy today?” Younghoon, one of your older friends asked from across the table, lips curled up in amusement. Kevin took a sit next to him and shrugged, as if the question had been asked to him instead.
“She’s mad because she bumped into the guy she has a crush on and her brain stopped working.”
Chuckles resounding around you at your flustered state. You only buried your head between your hands, right after you had sent enough daggers towards Kevin with your eyes.
“Ah come on, I’m sure it wasn’t that bad.” Hyunjae spoke then, munching on a piece of bread.
“It was definitely not the way I wanted him to know I exist.” You stated, sighing as you slid your hands down from your face. Chanhee giggled and rubbed your back, sympathetic to your cringe, before he offered you some of his fries. You looked at him and smiled, throwing one into your mouth.
“Okay but now being serious.” Kevin continued. “You were just shocked. Whoever’s gonna like you, will like you even when your brain shuts down.” He stated, resting his chin in he palm of his hand.
“Yeah, now try to fix it, Moon.” You said back. He just grinned and outstretched his hand across the table, grabbing yours and giving it a light squeeze.
“You know I’m just messing with you, dear.” He assured, but you didn’t even react at the sudden pet name. “Don’t think too much about it, alright? You’re great the way you are. Again, I think your reaction was cute.”
You rolled your eyes at him, but smiled anyways. You couldn’t stay mad at Kevin, not when you knew him that well. He was the kind of person who was always joking around and teasing people, even sometimes, clowning himself. Although you were used to his pranks, it seemed like he found your reactions fun enough to be his victim in reiterated occasions. He knew how easily you got pissed and he found it amusing. Aside from that, he was always a true sweetheart, being there for you whenever you needed him to, even if you didn’t want anyone around, he would just refuse to leave you alone if he knew you were struggling with something. That’s what made him stand out from the rest, what made him unique, and what made him your favorite person in the whole world. After all, he had been by your side ever since you two were in kindergarten.
“That’s cheesy, but I must admit that he’s right.” Hyunjae agreed with a nod. You pulled your hand away from Kevin’s grip and rubbed your face, sighing again.
“Whatever... It’s not like I was expecting Hong Minchan to think I’m cute or be interested in me anyways. He’s way out of my league, or anyone’s league, indeed.” You shrugged.
Kevin frowned, but before he could speak, Younghoon stole the words away from him.
“Why would you say that?” He asked, cocking his head in confusion at your self-consciousness. “I don’t see anything wrong with you.”
You let out a humorless laugh.
“He is super handsome, super nice and super talented. I’m just plain, ill-mannered, untidy and scruffy.” You stated, as if you were describing personality traits.
Kevin scoffed, waving his hand to dismiss the words you had said.
“Why are you so hard on yourself?” He asked with a judging look on his face.  “Those are not the adjectives that describe you correctly. You’re just using negative ones for you and positive ones for him, and that’s not how it works.”
“Then, which ones should I use to describe myself?” You asked in return, challenging him.
Kevin didn’t think much, opening his mouth to just let the first things he thought about you slip from his mouth.
“You’re smart, caring, creative, bright.” He started, using his fingers to count one  by one. “You’re also compassionate, determined, easygoing, loyal, passionate, reliable... Oh and you have a really pretty smile, a hair that smells nice, big bright eyes and a cute laugh, and-” His words trailed off with ease, until he realized his friends were trying to stifle laughter at the way he got so carried away and stopped, clearing his throat and wanting the ground to swallow him right then and there. He felt his heart pounding, terrified that he had just exposed the love for you he had worked so hard to bottle up for years that easily. Still, Kevin being Kevin, just laughed it off as if nothing happened.
“Maybe you should date Kevin instead.” Hyunjae joked, chuckling in amusement at his friend’s way of praising you. Kevin tried to play it cool, but was silently panicking about the feeling of his cheeks burning, thinking that the sudden blush on his face would give him away.
You smiled, being the one to cock your brow at him this time.
“As if, Hyunjae. Kevin is my soulmate, we’re literally like siblings... He’s the only one who knows all my deepest secrets. But I get it. I’m your best friend and that’s what makes you see so many good things in me, Kev. Thank you, but we both know that I’m far from being all of that.”
Your words hit him deeply. The way you invalidated his compliments while also throwing him in the friendzone was something he could never stop from hurting him, no matter how much he tried. Still, he always had to pretend like your words didn’t cut like knives, always showing his best smile for you. Mantaining a facade of an implicit, perfect friendship on the surface while underneath, he was hoping that maybe someday you could take him seriously.
“If someone doesn’t like me at the end, you’ll be the one to carry with the consequences.” You added in a warn, pointing your finger at him. He laughed and gave you a nod.
“Don’t worry, even if no one liked you, I always will.”
Tumblr media
Later that day, you and Kevin were spending some time in the music classroom. His eyes fixed on the piano keys in front of him as he made magic with his fingertips, the most beautiful melody always filling the room whenever Kevin decided to play an instrument.
You stared at him in awe, resting your chin in the palm of your hand on top of the piano. The hairs on your body standing up at the little performance he was making for you.
It was like walking on clouds. You loved how something so simple he did could take you to another world, where nothing mattered, where nothing hurt. It had always been that way, ever since he you two were children and he learned how to play. You were his number one fan, and he loved playing for you.
“How can you be so talented?” You mumbled, still mesmerized as his eyes flew in your direction, a smirk forming on his lips. “I wish I was as artistic as you are.” You pouted, making him chuckle.
Kevin stood up from his seat, and gestured for you to take his place. You tilted your head in confusion, brows furrowed.
“Come on, show me what you got.”
You held back a laugh, shaking your head.
“Are you crazy? I don’t play the piano.”
Kevin clicked his tongue, walking in your direction and placing his hands on your shoulders to spin you around and take you to the now empty seat.
“Just try.” He said, patting your head as he walked around the piano, now standing in the spot you previously were on.
You rolled your eyes, moving your hands to the keys and starting to play the only melody you knew, twinkle twinkle little star.
Kevin just stood there and watched your every move, finding the way you were so focused on the task incredibly adorable. He couldn’t help but smile, you looked so innocent, so beautiful like you always were. So effortlessly endearing, melting his heart with the smallest actions. He looked at you with adoration, his eyes probably sparkling as his heart hammered against his chest. If it wasn’t for how dense you were, his face would’ve given him away.
You scoffed, folding your arms over your chest in frustration and absent-mindedly pulling him out of his thoughts.
“That’s it. Your lame performance.”
Kevin chuckled.
“That was really lame, indeed.” He said, walking to you and gesturing for you to move aside. “But it was really cute.” He added, sitting right beside you.
You glared at him, pursing your lips in disapproval.
“I’m sorry for not being a musical genius like you, Mr. Moon.” You rolled your eyes.
“Here, I’ll teach you something.”
Kevin grabbed your hands and placed them back on the keys, with his atop of yours for guidance. He started playing softly, holding your hand and dragging your fingers along with his. His hand was warm and his touch as delicate as the inside of a rose. You let him take the lead, glancing up at his focused expression from time to time, not thinking about getting caught staring, until you did.
“You’re supposed to look at the keys, not me.” He said, seeing you stifle a laughter, flicking your forehead with his fingers.
You winced in pain, bringing your hands to the sore area seconds before the two of you bursted into laughter.
“You intimidated me.” You laughed. “It’s so weird seeing your ugly face from up close.”
His mouth went agape in shock, placing his hand on his chest as he pretended to be hurt.
“Ouch? That’s rude.” He stated, shaking his head. “Be thankful that you didn’t have to look at yourself from my perspective, though. You looked like a psychopath who was thinking a hundred ways of slitting my throat.”
You laughed even louder, pushing on his shoulder and throwing your head back in laughter, him joining you right away.
Once again, Kevin’s heart jumped desperately inside his chest. The simple sound of your laugh and the way you still looked like that little kid he grew up with sent a whole zoo to his stomach.
He adored everything about you, and he wanted to be the reason behind that happiness for as long as he lived.
And that’s why he always stared at you when you two were alone, drinking every single one of gestures in. Sometimes it lingered a bit too much, but again, you never seemed to notice.
Sadly, you were still oblivious to the signs. Everyone seemed to notice, everyone but you.
He stood up from his seat, outstretching his hand for you to take, his lips curling up in a soft smile.
“Let’s take you home, yeah? You better be thinking about the movie we’re going to watch tonight.”
You stared at his hand for a second before you smiled and grabbed it. He pulled you up from the seat and offered his arm for you to link yours, which of course, you did.
“I have a few ones in mind.” You said as you two made your way to the door.
“I hope it isn’t another one of Changmin’s recommendations...” He added, leaving the room with you.
Tumblr media
Spring break had finally arrived, and you already had plans with your friends. Kevin had picked you up early in the morning for a pool day at the dorms with the rest of the boys, stopping at the grocery store to buy some snacks on the way.
“Should we buy sweets, spicy or salty stuff?” You asked as you wandered around the store with Kevin, eyeing every food item in the way.
Kevin shrugged.
“Whatever you want, they would even eat rocks, especially Haknyeon. Just pick things you like or something.” He said, waving his hand to dismiss your doubts. “I’ll go to the other end of the store for some alcohol and other sweet beverages, alright?”
You nodded at him with a quick glance, already focused on your task. He smiled and walked away from you, disappearing from your sight.
“Hmmm. I’ll go with the chips first.” You hummed, examining the items on the shelves. “Oh! Kkokkalcorn! Definitely buying this.” You smiled to yourself, grabbing two bags and placing them on the shopping cart. You looked at all the options and felt as excited as a child in a toy store. “ Tteokbokki Chips, and Honey Butter Chips too!” You exclaimed with the biggest grin, grabbing the bags and again, throwing them into the cart. You stared down at what you already got, cocking your mouth and sighing. “I guess that’s it for the chips.” You mumbled, walking around the cart and placing your hands on the handle, ready to push and start walking until your inner voice made you rethink your decision. “Hmm.. Maybe just one more...” You whispered, moving to grab one last bag. “Goguma Kkang” You added, placing it on the cart and smiling contently, moving to the next aisle.
You made your way across the aisle filled with a ton of options for sweets. Having a few in mind already, you went straight to them, not even thinking before you just picked some and threw them with the rest of the items. “Orion Choco Pie, Choco Biscuits.” Fully focused, you spotted the last item on your list, that unfortunately for you, was placed high on the shelf. “Ah, fucking Peperos!” You grunted, standing on your tiptoes as you tried your best to reach the little box in the exact moment another hand brushed with yours accidentally. You pulled your hand away and went back to stand on your feet as your head turned right.
“Sorry” You muttered, eyes flying open as soon as you saw the person in question. The tall masculine figure stood right there beside you, uncomfortably close as he seemed to be thinking about having the same snack as you.
A smile formed on his lips, a light chuckle leaving his mouth as he lowered his arm.
“Hey, it’s you again.” He smiled. “Sorry, I didn’t notice you were trying to reach the same thing.” He continued, outstretching his hand to grab one of the boxes. “Do you want the original, almond or the white cookie flavored ones?”
Words seemed to be stuck in the tip of your tongue along with your lack of breathing. Your eyes couldn’t help but fix on his handsome face, dressed so casually with a plain black tee, a red plaid shirt and a pair of black ripped jeans with sneakers. Still he managed to look like someone who had been sent straight from the heavens. His black locks were naturally wavy, still dangling over his eyes that remained on you. Yours wandered from his face to his hand lifted in the air, detailing every single bracelet or ring that adorned his wrist and fingers before you looked back at his face, now cocked to the side as he waited for your answer.
As soon as you noticed the confusion on his face and the way your eyes had been on him for too long, you blinked a few times and swallowed, your throat dry as you mentally slapped yourself for having your mouth agape in front of him.
Thankfully Kevin wasn’t around to see you making a fool of yourself all over again.
“Oh, u-um, one of each, p-please.” You finally spoke way lower than you intended, and in addition to that, stuttering. Great job.
Minchan nodded with a smile, grabbing the three boxes with a one of his large hands, then handing them over to you as he looked down due to the height difference.
Your shaky hands clasped around the cardboard boxes, but nervously dropping them on the floor.
Eyes glued to the mess you made, your cheeks flushed in pink as you automatically squatted down to pick the boxes up, not noticing that Minchan, again, seemed to be thinking the same thing, moving to pick them up as well at the same time, resulting on a collision of your heads together.
You reeled backwards to the floor, landing on your butt as if you couldn’t be more embarrassing. Grimacing in pain, you rubbed your forehead at the stinging pain. Minchan rubbed his as well, scrunching his face as a soft chuckle emanated from his lips.
He stood up, outstretching his hand for you to help you up. You hesitated, but took it anyways before he pulled you off the floor. Your cheeks burned, you wanted the ground to swallow you, but he seemed to always keep his cool.
“Are you okay?” He asked then, releasing the grip on your hand and still smiling before he leaned down to collect the boxes from the floor and place them himself inside your cart.
“I am, I’m so sorry.” You muttered, bowing to him. “Thank you for your help.”
“What is your name?” He suddenly asked, and you shot him a look of shock. Never in your wildest dreams you thought Hong Minchan would want to know your name.
Maybe he just wanted to know it so he could have a good laugh with his friends.
“I... I’m y/n.” You stuttered again, clenching your jaw for not being able to act normally around him. You were sure that he was thinking that you were a weirdo at that point.
“I’m Minchan.” He said, his voice deep but sweet as honey as he offered his hand for you again.
That made three times in a row that day when you were able to touch his hands.
His fingers clasped around yours, and you were hoping he didn’t notice the sweat in your palms as he gently shook it.
“I know.” Minchan tilted his head at your comment, releasing your hand. You almost slapped your forehead. Fuck. “I-I m-mean, I’ve heard about you at school.”
He then nodded, satisfied with your answer.
“Well y/n... It seems like we keep bumping into each other.” He said, tucking his hand in his pocket and pulling his phone out. “I better ask for your number, it’d be such a shame if this was fate and we didn’t know.”
Your heart raced, so fast that you feared he would be able to hear it. You couldn’t help but grin. It felt like a dream, one of the best looking guys at school was asking for your number even after you had embarrassed yourself like a clown in front of him.
Kevin carried the boxes filled with beverages and beer, looking for you at the aisle where he had left you. When he didn’t find you there, he instantly knew where to find you, so he went there, to the aisle of sweets.
And that’s when he saw you, smiling widely, cheeks tinted in red and sparkly eyes. With him, again.
His smile vanished from his face and his heart sank at the sight of you talking happily with Minchan and handing him his phone back. He cursed under his breath, letting out a frustrated sigh as the overwhelming need of dropping everything and just run away consumed him, but he knew he couldn’t. He had no reasons to, at least not in your eyes.
It was ridiculous. You weren’t at school and he still seemed to always appear in the worst moments. If Kevin ever took a step, Minchan had already taken two ahead. He hated how frustrating it was, how a knot formed in his throat. He didn’t ask to feel that way, why was life adding salt to the wound?
He kept approaching you, and thankfully Minchan left with a wave of his hand before he reached you and the cart. Not saying anything, he placed the drinks inside, grabbing the handle.
“Ready?” He asked you, not even daring to mention what had obviously happened.
You were grinning, and he knew you well enough to see how badly you wanted to squeal. You nodded excitedly, linking your arm with his. He felt like shit, but you looked so cute, he couldn’t help the corners of his mouth lifting up in a subtle smile.
“You won’t believe what just happened, Kev. The universe must be against me, but also in my favor.”
Kevin knew what it was all about, but he had no option, he had to keep bottling up his feelings and just let you ramble while he paid for the snacks.
“What happened? Tell me.” He said, pulling the items out of the cart and handing them to the cashier, eyes fixated on his task, bracing himself to hear you being overly excited for some other guy who wasn’t him.
“So... I was picking the sweet snacks, and the stupid peperos were too high for me...”
Kevin nodded, glancing at you every now and then to let you know he was being attentive. His stomach churned, your eyes glowed when you talked about Minchan, how he wished you looked like that while talking about him.
“And then our heads literally collided... I felt so fucking dumb but he was so sweet and just laughed.”
How’s that you were still oblivious? Why couldn’t you see in front of your nose? Kevin was always there for you, always treated you like a princess, but even when he turned his charms up for you, you didn’t even notice.
But this guy barely talked to you a couple of times and you wouldn’t stop talking about how perfect he was.
“It was like destiny or something like that, Kev. I swear. It’s like all the stars and planets finally aligned. The fact that he asked for my number when I was so fucking dumb in front of him makes it clear. I never thought it’d happen, but I think he might like me!” You continued excitedly, jumping on the balls of your feet.
Kevin grabbed the plastic bags and handed the lightest one to you. He didn’t speak at all, he just smiled sweetly at you.
You found it weird, he was never that quiet... But you were too excited to give it a second thought.
“I left for like five minutes and now you have your whole k-drama happening.” He half-joked as he walked to the taxi that was waiting for the both of you. You pouted, lifting your hand and punching him in the arm.
“If you say it that way... It sounds like I’m being a delulu.”
He opened the sliding door and placed the bags in the back, helping you jump and following behind you before he closed the door.
“You’re not. I’m happy for you.” He said, a sad smile on his face that you didn’t quite notice back then.
However, his quietness was worrying you a while later.
“Are you okay? You’re too quiet.” You said, placing a hand on his thigh. He almost shuddered at your sudden touch, eyes darting in your direction as a light smile formed on his lips, nodding.
“Yes, I’m okay. It’s just a headache.”
You pouted.
“Do you want some painkillers or something? Can I be of help?”
He quickly shook his head, faking a laugh.
“Don’t overreact, I’m okay.” He assured, patting your head in reassurance.
You had no option but take him at his word.
Tumblr media
It seemed like Kevin went back to his normal self as soon as the two of you arrived at the dorms. You were greeted by all the boys who didn’t hesitate to snatch all the snacks from your hands as soon as you walked through the door.
It was evening already, and half of them were inside the pool playing some volleyball.
“y/n, why haven’t you gotten inside yet? You’ve been glued to the table eating the snacks since we arrived!” Eric yelled from the pool, interrupting your chattering with Chanhee and Younghoon in the process.
You rolled your eyes, munching on a chip before you stood up, shaking the crumples off your hands.
“Can’t a girl eat trash in piece?” You asked, placing your hands on your hips. Some of the boys chuckling at your reaction.
“Just get in! The water is nice!”
You sighed, stripping yourself from your clothes and leaving yourself in your bathing suit. The boys started to whistle teasingly and your brows furrowed, cheeks tinted in a deep shade of red.
“You perverts!” You whined, hugging yourself in a desperate try to cover up.
You knew your friends were just messing with you, they liked to make everyone as uncomfortable as possible, and you hated to get shy by just a dumb teasing.
However, there was someone who had his eyes glued to you and your half-exposed body. Someone who was losing track of time and space as the only thing he was able to hear was his heart racing and pulse hammering in his ears.
He had seen you that way before, a thousand times even... But every time he did, he found himself trapped in the same situation. Utterly and absolutely spellbound by your beauty. The way the wind blew your hair so softly, and the way your soft skin reflected ever so perfectly the rays of sun against it.
You had a beautiful body, but to him, it was much more than that.
You were perfect, and you had no idea about it yet.
Jacob splashed water at him, pulling him out of his trance. He turned around to look at him, lips parted in fake shock.
“Come back to earth” Jacob smiled.
Kevin frowned and bit his lip, attacking him back with water.
While he was busy water-fighting with his friend, someone decided to trick you.
“Would you give me a piece of chocolate?” Haknyeon asked innocently, puppy-eyed so you wouldn’t say no.
You sighed, returning to the table and grabbing the sweet before you swatted down to give it to him.
What you weren’t expecting, was that he would take it and also pull you into the water.
Laughter echoed all over the place, as you made it to the surface. Your long hair was stuck in your face as you tried to catch your breat. You barely pushed it away from your eyes to rub them, and then glare at the guilty boy who laughed in front of you.
“Ju Haknyeon, you’re fucking regretting this!” You shouted, swimming and chasing him all around the pool.
But you got tired quickly, he was in a better shape than you.
That made you groan, before someone placed their hands on your shoulders to spin you around, eyes meeting with yours.
“You’ve never been a good swimmer.” He said, stifling a laugh at your grumpy state. “Here.” He said as he carefully moved his hand and brushed your hair away from your face with his fingers, the gesture made your expression soften almost immediately. He was always the sweetest when it came to you.
You smiled.
“I know.” You responded, moving your hands to imitate his actions and push his hair back sweetly. “Here.” You repeated.
Kevin was taken aback by it, his expression filled with confusion before he finally managed to smile subtly. He stared into your eyes, adoring the way the droplets of water slid down your soft skin like dew on flowers.
Sometimes it was really hard for him to hold back and keep that facade. Especially when you were naturally mesmerizing. Your pink lips, the ones he always wondered how would feel in a kiss. Your rosy cheeks and round eyes. Your small nose, the smell of shampoo in your hair, the words you spoke and every single inch of you or everything about you made his world spin.
You were having a moment, an intimate one, at least for him. The whole world around him, the laughter and voices of his friends seemed to evaporate just by having you near, getting lost in your eyes and your beauty.
Until you splashed him with water, bringing him back to earth. He laughed and splashed you back playfully, before he reached out and wrapped his arms around your waist.
“How dare you defy me!” He groaned, lifting you up as you moved you kicked your legs frantically.
“What are you doing, let me go!” You laughed, moments before he threw you to the water on the other side of the pool.
That’s how all of you spent the day, forgetting about responsibilities, unrequited feelings and other people outside the group. You enjoyed it way too much, and when the sun finally settled, you were all exhausted and starving.
You had ordered pizza. The whole group sitting in a circle on the carpeted floor of the living room. You were helping Jacob with the drinks in the kitchen, telling him all about your encounter with Minchan.
“Don’t you think it’s like fate?” You asked, filling the plastic cups with ice cubes.
He chuckled, mixing drinks.
“It surely was an unexpected event.” He responded. “You still don’t know anything about him, though. Be careful, your illusions could disappear as soon as you get to know him.” He shrugged.
You cocked your mouth deep in thought. He had a point.
“That’s true, I guess? But what’s the point on being negative?”
Jacob shook his head, a gentle smile on his lips.
“It’s not negativity at all, I call it being cautious. You know what they say, crushes are meant to be just that, all the magic is long gone once you get what you wanted.” He explained, glancing at you. “You need someone you know well, someone you can be sure will love you, respect you, and do anything for you.”
You sighed, lips curling into a light smirk.
“Like Kevin?” You joked.
Jacob raised a brow, eyes flying in your direction before he chuckled and placed his pointer finger on the tip of your nose.
“Hey, why not?” He smiled, turning around to grab some straws from the counter.
You laughed.
“I would like someone just like him. I mean, someone who treats me like he does. I’d be lucky.”
Kevin accidentally heard your confession while he made his way to the kitchen, stopping behind the wall so he could listen more.
His heart swelled up, and he was starting to get his hopes up. You wanted someone just like him, you were finally appreciating what he did to you. A smile formed on his face as he bit his lip, trying not to make a sound and get caught spying your conversation.
“I hope Minchan does.” You added then, making his heart sink once again.
He felt his chest going heavy in a matter of seconds, and his smile disappeared as a sigh left his lips. He shook his head and went back to the living room, not daring to face you after feeling rejected, again.

“I can’t believe she hasn’t noticed.” Jacob admitted, sitting cross-legged next to Kevin in the balcony. The wind was chilly, but the moonlight gifted a warm feeling of peace.
Jacob had taken his friend outside to have a chat about the whole thing, taking advantage of the fact that no one understood what they said besides Eric, and that you were taking a shower upstairs, getting ready to sleep soon. The other members were in their respective rooms as well, except for Changmin and Sunwoo who were watching videos together.
Kevin sighed.
“She’s so dense. At this point I’m surprised as well. I thought I had been obvious.” He shrugged.
“Then what are you waiting to confess?”
Kevin shot him a look, processing his question.
“I don’t know...” He mumbled, pressing his knees against his chest.
Jacob tsked.
“It’s not that hard... Just tell her you love her already.”
“I don’t have the guts to say it... I’m not really good with words.” He confessed, scratching the back of his neck.
“She told me about this guy, what was his name again?”
“Ah... Minchan.” Kevin responded, rolling his eyes.
“Yeah, that one. Are you just gonna sit and watch him steal her away?”
“Bro... I don’t think I even have any chances. She has friend zoned me like a hundred times already. And she’s always drooling over him it’s annoying as heck.”
Jacob sighed, grazing his chin with his fingers.
“Aw come on, you’re not giving yourself enough credit. Things can change you know? Friends can easily become more, and It’s not like she has brother-zoned you. Now that would be bad.”
Kevin laughed nervously.
“Actually, it’s funny that you mention it...”
Jacob looked at his friend in disbelief, gently slapping his own forehead afterwards.
“Oh man...”
“See my struggle?” Kevin whined, running his hands through his hair in frustration, throwing his head back against the glass door.
The two of them kept silent for a moment, both probably lost in their own minds and considering different scenarios. The night breeze blew their soft locks, sending some sense of melancholy. Jacob was worried for the sake of his friend, and Kevin was starting to think about just giving up on his feelings.
“I still think you should do it.” Jacob insisted then, head craning towards Kevin, who just stared attentively with brows furrowed.
“You think so?”
“Yeah... There are two possible scenarios... She doesn’t reciprocate your feelings but you lift a weight off your shoulders, or she realizes she belongs with you instead.”
“You forgot another possible scenario, though...” Kevin stared.
“Which one?”
“I never say anything so she can be happy with someone else and I don’t risk ruining our friendship.”
Jacob shook his head.
“Listen... If you’re scared of losing the bond you two have, let me tell you, it’s gonna change no matter what.”
“How come?”
“No matter if she doesn’t reciprocate your feelings or if you keep them to yourself. It’s a lose-lose situation. If she doesn’t reciprocate, it’s going to be awkward between the both of you... If you keep them bottled up, seeing her with someone else and not having time to spend with you or give you all of her attention will result in the two of you drifting apart anyways. But if she gives you a chance, it’s gonna change for the better.”
Kevin ran his hands on his face.
“What am I supposed to do?”
Jacob gave him a sympathetic smile.
“You’ll never know until you try.”
Tumblr media
“Where are you taking me?” You asked, tone filled with confusion as Kevin dragged you with him to somewhere you didn’t know, grabbing your hand.
“Nowhere in particular.” He said, looking ahead. “We’ll go wherever the wind takes us.”
You stopped in your tracks, forcing him to stop moving. He turned his head to look at you with knitted brows, with you arching one at him.
“I thought you had something planned, dumbass.”
Kevin rolled his eyes.
“Can’t I just have a nice day hanging out with my favorite person?”
You narrowed your eyes at him.
“I guess? But you seemed so insistent I thought you knew where you would take us.” You shrugged.
Kevin released the grip on your hand, wrapping his arm around your shoulders instead, starting to walk again.
“Because you’re lazy and if I hadn’t you’d be still sleeping.” He muttered. You smacked his chest. “Ouch, what was that for?”
“For making me leave my bed.”
Truth was that Kevin never needed a reason in particular for wanting to spend the day with you, but that day, precisely, he had asked you out to see if he could gather the courage to confess to you at the end of the day.
Unlikely, but he still wanted to try.
So he treated you lunch, took you to the arcade and then you found yourselves playing with puppies at a dog cafe. You were having a great moment with him, but that was so common for you that you never gave it a second thought. You always felt that comfortable with him, you always had fun whenever he was around. He was the one who could always understand, the one who shared the same lame interests. That’s why you never fought, that’s why you were inseparable. He was your soulmate, after all. Life had brought you together for a reason, and you would never question it.
But you were still too dense. Too oblivious. You never noticed the way he stared when you were alone, or why he was always where you were. You never even questioned why in those night calls he would find any excuse to just keep you on the phone. You would think he was bored, when in reality, he just couldn’t get enough of the sound of your voice.
You wandered around the city, sipping on your iced coffee before you found a store that seemed quite interesting. It was a fantasy store, and your nerdy side couldn’t help but be drawn there.
“Oh, look. I want to see more!” You said, grabbing Kevin’s wrist when he opened his mouth to complain, dragging him inside.
Your eyes flew open, mesmerized by everything that was placed inside. Medieval and fantasy items like jewelry, swords, books, paintings, clothing, games and a lot of things to decorate your room.
You felt in another world, and every little thing you saw made you excited as Kevin just followed behind you.
Your eyes then landed on the jewelry, a particular necklace capturing your attention.
It was a Gothic inspired necklace that combined a mystical crescent moon with a beautiful glowing heart.
You stared intensely, enamoured with the sight the moment when an old man appeared behind the counter.
“With its beautiful luminescent stone inside an intricate hollow heart dangling from the pendant, this necklace is unique, making it the perfect gift for a special person.” He spoke, almost making you flinch. Your eyes locked with his crinkled ones, as his moustached smile greeted you. “Even if you don’t believe in magic, it is magnifiscent.”
Kevin approached and stood right beside you, listening carefully at the old man’s words as he examined the object that had stolen your attention.
“It is so beautiful.” You mumbled with a smile, hiding it behind your fingers. It came in several colors. “Aw, and it’s a Moon.” You teased your friend, poking his cheek, that right away felt like burning in blush. Gladly, you didn’t notice.
“You can almost feel the magic power it possesses as long as you believe in it.” The man said, locking eyes with kevin and raising his brows.
“It’s true.” You giggled, and Kevin just looked at you. You were so cute and innocent sometimes.
“However, you must use it wisely, it may grant wishes, give you strength, warn you of dangers or be a talisman, depending on your character.“ He addressed.
You grinned.
“I wish I could buy it, but I can’t right now. Maybe another time when I get paid at my part time job.” You pouted, feeling your phone buzzing in your pocket. “Excuse me for a minute.” You said with your pointer finger, walking towards the exit to pick an incoming call from your mom.
The old man and Kevin stared at each other, the latter smiling awkwardly at the man as he kept fidgeting his fingers, switching from him to the door to watch if you were coming back, until he sighed.
He leaned forward to whisper in the man’s ear.
“How much is it?”
Tumblr media
“I’m sorry for having to leave earlier than planned... My mom needs me to help her out with some stuff.” You apologized, standing in front of your door. The sun was finally setting, welcoming the moon and stars in its place. Kevin smiled, hands tucked in his pockets and his heart pounding wildly.
It was hard to keep his cool, especially when he could already feel the words he desperately needed to say stuck on the tip of his tongue.
His hands were sweaty, shaking behind the comfort of his jeans. Was he ready to finally confess?
“Don’t worry about it. Just tell her I said hi.” He spoke, surprised that he didn’t stutter at all despite of his mind going wild.
You nodded with a smile, outstretching your hand and gently ruffling his hair.
“Of course.” You responded. “Thanks for today, Kev. I had a blast, as always.”
Kevin grinned, his stomach fluttering by knowing you had enjoyed the day just wiith him.
“Did you really like it?” He asked then, sliding his hand out of his pocket and scratching the back of his neck nervously.
You smiled, but frowned in confusion at his uncommon behavior. It wasn’t like you never enjoyed hanging out with him anyways, he should expect the same words coming from your mouth whenever you two went out.
“Of course, silly.” You teased. “Why would you even doubt it? Weirdo.” You chuckled.
He chuckled as well, but nervously.
“Ah, don’t mind me.” He said, waving his hand and dismissing his own words. “I just wanted to say something...”
You cocked your head.
“What is it?”
The right words ran through his head, like he had been preparing the speech in his mind.
However, his mouth opened to say something, but nothing came out. The silent made the atmosphere awkward, nothing like the way it usually was between the both of you, and Kevin noticed how you were reacting to that. So he just let out the first words that slipped from his tongue.
“I-I...I hope we can hang out again but for more time!”
He tensed, internally panicking. He feared that you would know what he wanted but in the wrong way.
But of course, you didn’t notice. You just laughed and gently pushed his shoulder.
“Of course, Kev.” You smiled, pinching his cheek. “I’m going inside, please get home safely!”
You waved goodbye at him and he waved back before you entered.
Kevin sighed, running his fingers through his haiir.
He had missed his opportunity once again. Every time he asked you out, you never moved past friendly, and that day, was just another one to add to the endless list.
“Heck. I’m such a coward.” He mumbled to himself, kicking the little rocks that were dispersed on the way back home.
He would confess, he had to and he knew that.
That’s why as soon as he arrived home and got a shower, he decided to call you.
“You miss me already?” You joked when you picked up the call, hearing his throaty chuckle at the other side of the line.
“You wish.” He lied. “I just wanted to ask you something real quick.”
“Okay, what is it?”
He took a deep breath and exhaled.
“Are you free tomorrow?”
“Again?”
“Yeah. I need to talk to you about something.”
You frowned, pacing back and forth around your room.
“Is everything okay?”
You were starting to feel worried. He wasn’t acting like himself at all.
“Yeah... I just wanted to share something with you.”
“Okay, where do we meet?”
Kevin couldn’t help the smile that instantly formed on his lips, excitement and nervousness filling up his whole body.
“You know that bench at the park where we used to stargaze?”
You smiled at the memory.
“Yes.”
“Find me there at six, before the sun sets.”
“Do you feel like stargazing? Are you feeling nostalgic so suddenly or something?” You giggled.
“Ah, stop asking questions. It’s just a simple invitation from your best friend.” He responded. “But please go, it’s really important for me, alright?”
“You’re making me curious now. You’re acting all mysterious.”
Kevin laughed.
“It’s nothing bad, I promise.”
“Alright. I’ll meet you there.”
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
“Alright. Goodnight, dumbo.”
“Night, asshole.”
Kevin ended the call and plopped on his back against his bed, throwing his phone to the side and letting out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. His cheeks were flushing and his heart was beating wildly.
He had decided, he would confess to you... Or at least, he would try. That time, for real, and if it didn’t go well, he would definitely give up on his feelings.
On the other hand, you didn’t suspect anything in particular. You trusted Kevin enough to go wherever he asked you to without a second guessing. He was your best friend, so you knew that if he wanted to share something with you, you would probably love it.

You had been helping out your mom with the chores and organizing some things in your house the whole morning until lunch time arrived. You shared a great meal with your parents, standing up as soon as you finished and starting to wash the dishes.
“Dear, can you go the store to buy some things for me? I’ve made a list with what I need.” Your mother said, gently caressing your hair. “Don’t worry about this, I’ll take care of it.”
You turned your head to look at her, smiling and nodding.
“Yes mom, sure.” You said, grabbing a towel and drying your hands before you placed it back on the counter.
She tucked a hand in the pocket of her kitchen apron, handing you a little piece of paper and her credit card.
“Here.” She said. “Don’t buy more than necessar, huh?”
You rolled your eyes, nodding.
“I won’t, mom.”
She smiled and gently patted your cheek lovingly.
“Be careful.”
“I’ll be back soon!”  You responded, walking to the door and grabbing your coat from the floor coat rack, also putting on your shoes.
You had almost everything you needed, ready to go to the cashier and pay the moment you heard a very familiar voice, one that was enough to send sparks down your body.
“I guess you live nearby.” He said. Your heartbeats echoed in your ears and your cheeks burned, turning your head to look at him, a gentle smile on his pretty lips. “It’s good to see you again, y/n. This isn’t coincidence.”
You smiled widely, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear while messily holding the shopping basket. He always managed to look perfect, his hair looking silky and his clothes perfectly ironed. The smell of his cologne just added attractiveness to his already noticeable beauty.
“Minchan!” You greeted. “Glad to see you, too.”
He was quick to make conversation, and you stayed a little longer as you kept him company while he picked the things he needed, that way both of you paid at the same time.
He exited the store with you, telling you about his upcoming graduation and his plans for the future. Turns out he liked to sing, and he was even considering auditioning for some agency. You felt admiration, already knowing his many talents and now his disposition to be someone big in the future. He was very humble, speaking to you like he had known you all his life.
You told him a bit about you, the things you liked and how you were scared about the future, being that the reason why you had decided to live one day at a time, and the fact that he never judged you made you feel more comfortable around him. You even told him about Kevin, as they seemed to have a lot of things in common, another reason for you to get along.
“I would like to talk a bit more.” He confessed, making your stomach flip around. “Let me treat you a coffee.”
You smiled, wanting to say yes before he even finished the sentence. However, you were carrying plastic bags that made your fingers hurt, remembering that you had to go back home soon.
“I’d love to! But... I really have to take this home... I can’t go around with five plastic bags in my hands.” You chuckled.
Minchan smiled.
“I’ll tell you what.” He said, tucking his hand in his pocket and pulling out his car keys. “Let’s place your bags in my car while grab a coffee, right there across the street.” He continued, pointing his finger to a small coffee shop that you knew very well. “When we’re done, we’ll come back and pick your things up.”
You thought about his proposal for a second, being way too tempting for you to say no. It was a good plan, and how could you say no to your crush anyways?
You smiled shyly as he stared at you expectantly.
“Alright.” You said. “Let’s go.”
Minchan smiled, gesturing for you to walk ahead of him. He soon unlocked his car and you placed the bags in the trunk, leaving right after to grab that coffee across the street.
Truth was that you didn’t really care about the coffee, you just couldn’t believe someone like him wanted to spend more time with you and actually get to know you better. After all, you had exchanged numbers but never really texted each other. Hopefully, that would change after that day.
You found yourself having endless things to talk about with Minchan. He was really easygoing and open minded, so you never got bored even for a second. You two laughed, and it was like you had clicked really fast. Losing track of time as you both shared anecdotes from your respective lives.
A loud thunder made you flinch, pulling you out of the conversation you were having. Your eyes flew open to look behind Minchan, grey clouds invading the previously clear blue one. He motioned your actions and turned his head, his brows knitting together.
“Looks like a storm is coming.”
“Yeah. I think we should get going.” You agreed, looking at the watch on your wrist. You shot him a look of shock. “We’ve been here for three hours!” You laughed.
His eyes widened in shock as well, looking at the time on his own watch.
“Wow, we really did lose track of time.” He let out a throaty chuckle that made your skin stand on end. “It’s past six already.”
“We better hurry. It won’t be good if we’re still out when it’s dark and raining.” You smiled, pulling out the credit card to pay before he pushed it back to you, shaking his head.
“My treat, remember?”
You smiled, nodding shyly.
Minchan paid for the coffees and you quickly went back to his car to grab your stuff. Seeing that rain had started to fall down, Minchan offered to take you home in his car, and you accepted, not really wanting to get drenched.
“Thanks for this again, Minchan.” You said, giving him one last smile that he quickly returned.
“No, thank you for accepting my invitation.” He replied. “I’ll see you soon.”
You nodded, smiling. Opening the door from the passenger’s seat, you jumped out of the car and grabbed the plastic bags from the trunk. Minchan waved at you, and you did the same before you finally entered the house.
“Jesus Christ y/n. Where have you been? Why did you take so long?” Your mother said as soon as you walked into the kitchen, placing the bags on the dining table.
Your cheeks were still tinted in a crimson color, smiling at her.
“I bumped into a friend and he invited me to grab a coffee. I’m sorry if I made you worried, mom.”
She muttered something you didn’t quite pinpoint, too deep into your thoughts and excitement as you danced your way upstairs.
You kept giggling like an idiot. You still couldn’t believe you had had some kind of date with Minchan, and you just needed to tell someone about it.
So you grabbed your phone and dialed Kevin’s number.
But he didn’t pick up.
You just couldn’t wait anymore, so you shyly asked your dad to take you to the boys dorms, telling him that they had invited you to watch movies again.
And that’s how you arrived at the dorms even when the sky was falling.
You knocked on the door cheerfully, moments before you were greeted with Eric.
“Hello!”
He looked surprised to see you, but smiled anyways.
“Hey, y/n. Good to see you.” He said, moving aside to let you in.
“Today it’s a great day and no rain is going to change that, my dear Eric.” You chirped, taking off your shoes and walking to the living room where some of the guys were playing video games. “Hi guys.” You waved.
“Y/n? What are you doing here?” Haknyeon asked in confusion.
“I just really need to talk with Kevin. Where is he? Is he in his room?” You said, not waiting for an answer before you dragged your feet in that direction.
“Wait... Weren’t you supposed to be together today?” Jacob suddenly said, coming out of the kitchen.
“Right? That’s why I asked.” Haknyeon shrugged.
And that’s when it hit you.
Your eyes shot open.
“Oh my god!” You whined, hiding your face behind your hands. “Fuck I totally forgot it!”
“That’s not good.” Eric muttered from behind you.
You panicked.
“What time is it?”
“It’s past eight.” Eric said, and your stomach sunk.
“Fuck! I’m two hours late and it’s pouring rain!” You said desperately. “I even called him and he didn’t pick up.”
“Well he surely isn’t here.”
You felt tears burning in your eyes just by the thought of you breaking a promise... One you had made with Kevin, who never ever had broken one when it came to you.
“Sangyeon, please let me borrow your car!”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, y/n.” He said with a frown.
“Please Sangyeon! We’re in the middle of a storm, it’s dark and Kevin is out there waiting for a stupid woman who just forgot about their promise.” You pleaded. “I need to find him and apologize. He must be hating me.”
Sangyeon kept silent for a second, noticing the worried expressions of his friends around him before he sighed.
“Alright. The key is in the counter.” He said and you immediately turned around, rushing to the door. “Please drive safely!”
You voiced a “Thank you”. They probably didn’t hear you, but that didn’t matter.
Until Jacob ran after you and gabbed your shoulder, stopping you.
“Hey, take this.” He said, handing you an umbrella.
You smiled sadly at him.
“Thank you, Jacob.”
He nodded, and you ran out of the building to the parking lot.
You climbed on the car after you successfully unlocked it, starting the engine and cursing at yourself as you made your way to the park.
Gladly, it was only a few blocks away, so it was about a couple of minutes before you had arrived.
You jumped out of the car, messily opening the umbrella and making your way to where the two of you were supposed to meet.
The place was empty as the rain kept falling wildly, thunders echoing all over the place and making your stomach churn.
You didn’t think you would actually find him, but you did.
“Kevin!”
There he was. Completely soaked, looking ahead as water droplets ran down his skin and hair.
He turned his head to look at you, but didn’t stand up. He didn’t even look happy to see you. The sight broke your heart.
“What are you doing?!” You raised your voice, walking towards him and grabbing his hand, trying to pull him to stand on his feet. “You’re soaked! Are you crazy? You’re going to get sick!”
Kevin’s lips curled up in a soft, bitter smile. A humorless breathy chuckle escaping from his lips.
“So you decided to come...” He muttered, almost in a whisper. Your brows knitted together.
“Kevin... I’m so sorry, I forgot.”
He looked at you once again, but now his expression was filled with hurt.
“You forgot, I see.” He mumbled.
“I know I’m a terrible friend and I’m really sorry!” You repeated. “I went out to buy some things my mom needed and I bumped into Minchan... He invited me to grab a coffee and we lost track of time, I’m sorry okay? I’ll make it up to you. But please let’s go home.”
That was it.
You had not only forgotten about your promise.
But it was also because of Minchan.
“Minchan.” He smiled, standing up.
You thought he was going to join you under the umbrella, but he turned on his heels to walk in the opposite direction.
“Kevin!” You called, running after him and grabbing his hand to stop him.
He was cold. Freezing at the touch, just like the way he looked at you when he turned his head.
“I’ll take the bus.” He said, pulling his hand away from you.
“No! Why would you? I borrowed Sangyeon’s car. Let’s go home, Kev. Let’s talk this out.”
Kevin finally tuned around, his face stone cold. He didn’t even care about being completely drenched in front of you, with the cold wind and the dim moonlight as a witness.
“I said I’m going to take a bus. I’m not going with you so please don’t insist.”
“I know you’re mad Kevin but please don’t act like a child! It’s pouring rain and it’s getting late. I don’t want you to get sick. I’ll take you home. Don’t be so stubborn and come with me so we can talk about the thing you wanted to share with me.” You insisted, outstretching your hand for him to take, but he didn’t move an inch.
“The problem is, y/n, that I have nothing to talk with you.” He spoke. “I decided to give it a try, but now that I see things clear, I know my place.”
You tilted your head.
“What?”
“All this time...” He started, stepping closer to you. “I’ve had this thing eating me alive. I’ve never been good with words, but I’ve always made it obvious. So obvious... You’re the one who still remains oblivious.”
“Kev... W-what are you talking about?” You stammered, feeling intimidated by his attitude.
But then he wrapped his arms around you, hugging you tightly. He placed his hand behind your head, gently caressing you. You froze on the spot, not even caring about the way he was soaking you as well.
“Everything was good for so long, but then something happened inside me.” He spoke against your ear. His voice was filled with emotions and sent shivers down your spine. “Now I’m reading into everything...” He continued, tightening the hug. “But there’s no sign you hear the lightning.”
You were confused. You didn’t know what he meant, but you didn’t seem to find the courage to question him or his words. You hugged him back, your fingers dipping on the fabric of his cold, damped shirt.
“I’m sorry I forgot...” You muttered against his shoulder. “I’m the worst friend...”
“I had planned something different for today.” He spoke again. “Since you never notice the way that we belong...” He sighed shakily. “I am the one who finally opened his eyes.” He added, pulling away from you.
His eyes were red and puffy. He was crying.
He looked so hurt, so vulnerable. He looked devastated, and all you wanted to do was hug him and tell him everything was going to be alright.
But deep down, you knew it wouldn’t. Actions always speak louder than words.
“Why are y-”
Kevin chuckled, the tip of his nose reddened as he stepped backwards.
“You’re so dense...” He said, finally turning away and walking away from you.
Kevin knew it back then. No matter how he felt or how he tried, the magic wasn’t there. Nothing would grant his wishes, and luck just wasn’t on his side. He had to learn it in the bad way.
So he left you standing there, confused. You tried to reach him and call him, but he didn’t turn around.
You were in shock, walking back to the car as you felt a stinging pain inside your chest. Your nose became itchy as you opened the door and climbed on the car, closing the umbrella and locking yourself inside the warm space.
You could feel tears threatening to fall, trying to figure out Kevin’s words.
You tucked your cold hands in the pocket of your coat, your gaze going down the moment your fingers came in contact with something placed inside.
As soon as you pulled it out, your breath got stuck in your throat, and before you noticed, you were sobbing against the stirring wheel.
“Oh my god.” You cried, shaky hand moving to cup your mouth. Your heart broke looking at the crescent moon that rested in your hand, the purple glowing heart that dangled on it gently illuminating the flesh of your hands.
He bought it.
He bought it for you.
Because you were told it was meant to be bought for someone special. And he wanted to give it to you.
But you were too busy with Minchan to think about his feelings.
Now that you had put two and two together, you knew what he meant.
“I’ve had this thing eating me alive. I’ve never been good with words, but I’ve always made it obvious. So obvious... You’re the one who still remains oblivious.”
“Everything was good for so long, but then something happened inside me.”
“But there’s no sign you hear the lightning.”
“I am the one who has finally opened his eyes.”
“You’re so dense.”
Tears burned your cheeks as you cried like a baby. What had you done.
He was going to confess to you, and you turned him down before he even tried.
You were an idiot. There was no way you could face him after that.
You had broken your friendship.
Tumblr media
You didn’t know how how much time it had passed since that day. You had taken back the car to the dorms and Kevin wasn’t there yet. The boys almost drowned you in questions that you couldn’t answer, the fact that you couldn’t stop crying didn’t help to minimize their concern.
But you couldn’t face them. That’s why you had to call your dad to pick you up again.
It was hard to make them stop asking what was wrong, so you just opted to tell them that you had a fight with Kevin and you were upset.
But it had been almost a week. A week with no calls, with no texts messages. A week without his jokes and his company. A week of loneliness, of crying yourself to sleep, a week of guilt and figuring out your tangled feelings.
You had tried to reach him, but he just didn’t pick up the phone. Admittedly, you were far too ashamed of yourself for hurting him that you just couldn’t go and face him.
It was like the end of a sad movie, the kind of ending you didn’t really wanna see.
It was tragic to think that you’d have to let him go after he held your hand through all these years, because you didn’t know what to be without him around.
None of you thought it was gonna end that way, now there was no one there to save you. Kevin was the only thing you knew like the back of your hand.
Even if you couldn’t breathe without him, you’d have to.
“Are you okay? I’ve noticed you’re kinda down these days.” Minchan said, moving his hand to place it on top of yours across the table, concern in his expression.
You forced a smile with a nod, squeezing his hand in response.
You were thankful for him. After all that had happened, Minchan had been a very much needed distraction and company. He texted you recurrently, called you at nights or took you out. He was really sweet and attentive, and you really did feel comfortable around him, but something was missing.
Despite his sweet disposition and nature, his warm touch and reassurance, despite having the guy you had liked all along to yourself trying to cheer you up, and even sometimes succeeding, he still couldn’t fill the void in your chest.
“I’m okay, I just haven’t been sleeping much and I’m tired.” You lied. “Thank you for looking after me, Minchan.”
A smile formed on his lips. He truly was a beautiful human.
“Don’t mention it. It’s the least I could do for something as special as you.”
You felt your cheeks burn, but somehow, your heart didn’t jump like it usually did.
When he took you back home, you were ready to just get out of the passenger seat, but as soon as your body turned to open the door, he grabbed your hand. You looked back at him, confused, as he brushed a strand of hair behind your ear.
“Minchan?” You mumbled, his eyes sparkled.
“I like you.” He simply said, as his fingertips grazed the skin of your cheek.
You didn’t know what to say. The moment you had been dreaming about for so long was finally about to happen and you wanted to be excited, you really did.
But you didn’t feel anything at all.
Still, he leaned in and you didn’t move. His nose gently brushed against yours, his warm breath fanning against your lips as his lids were half closed.
You took a deep breath through your nose, bracing yourself to let the feelings sparkle.
His lips pressed gently against yours and you closed your eyes. His lips were as soft as you had imagined, and they moved subtly on yours. You hesitated as he cupped your face, tilting his head to kiss you a little deeper, but responded to the kiss.
It could’vw been wonderful, magical, but something you weren’t expecting took you by surprise, and that was Kevin’s face in the back of your mind.
You instantly knew it was wrong, kissing someone and thinking about someone else.
So you pulled away, looking down and grazing your lips with your fingers.
Minchan looked confused.
“I’m sorry...” Was the first thing you managed to say. Tears started pooling in your eyes when you looked at him, and his expression instantly turned into a sympathetic one. “I thought I liked you... I mean, I do... But...”
He smiled sadly.
“You don’t like me in the same way.” He addressed, sighing. “Don’t worry about it, I understand.”
“I-I’m really s-sorry.” You stammered in light sobs. “It’s just... I-I think I’m in love with s-someone else.”
Minchan sighed, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you into his chest. He gently caressed the back of your head, a bittersweet feeling invaded you at the memory of Kevin doing the same days before.
“It’s okay.” He cooed. “I’d be glad to be your friend... If you still want me as one.”
You pulled back and sniffled, smiling with a nod.
“Of course.”
And you weren’t lying.
You knew he was worth it, he was special.
But not in the way you thought he was.
Tumblr media
You stormed out of your house the same night, running with all your might. You didn’t even care about any other way of transportation, you felt like drowning and you needed to do something about it.
You couldn’t wait anymore. The more you thought about it, the worse the pain in your heart was. You grasped on the necklace harshly, hoping that maybe what the man said was true. Maybe if you really believed in the magic, it could grant wishes.
So you did. You wished. To get him back, but for life.
His laugh, his voice, his pretty little mouth that never failed to say the right words. His silky hair you would always run your fingers through, his pale skin that felt warm to the touch. His dark, but sparkling eyes that found yours even in the darkest places, the arms that he always kept open for you to give you shelter, the beautiful face you were so familiar with, and his heart that always managed to put you first even when it kept getting broken because of you.
You had to lose him to find the truth. How silly of you.
You couldn’t stop crying despite the air leaving your lungs. Your feet burned and your legs were sore, but nothing could hurt more than your conscience.
You finally stopped in your tracks, leaning forward and resting your hands on your knees trying to catch your breath as you stood in front of the building. Your mind was blurry, dizzy with too many words and possible scenarios.
As soon as you regained your breath, you got inside and made your way to the dorms. You were scared, but too desperate to lift the weight of your shoulders to care.
Finding the right door, you lifted your hand and knocked a few times, teeth sinking in your lip as you tried to keep calm.
Your gaze glued to the floor, your hands shaking and your stomach churning before the door cracked open.
Your eyes traveled to the person that now stood in front of you, and there he was.
Your heart skipped a beat and you, once again, felt the urge to cry.
“Y/N?”
“Kevin.” You muttered, almost in a whisper. “We need to talk, please.”
He stared at you, feeling his own chest tightening before he sighed and moved aside to let you in.
You walked in, taking off your shoes and closing the door behind you.
You took a deep breath, not knowing where to start, which didn’t go unnoticed by him. The way your lip quivered, your hands shook and your eyes looked puffy and red mortified him. Thinking that maybe he had been too hard on you, and hating to see you in such a state, he decided to push his pride aside and speak, ready to once again comfort you for what he thought was a broken heart.
“y/n... I-”
But you stepped forward and interrupted him.
“I’m sorry.” You stated. “I am so fucking sorry.”
He closed his mouth with a scowl, listening to you and thinking that maybe, just maybe, this time it wouldn’t be about Minchan.
So you just continued.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t see the truth.” You continued. “I’m sorry I was so oblivious, I’m sorry for hurting you, for leaving you waiting under the rain, for all the pain i’ve put you through. I’m sorry because I had to get to this point to realize how stupid I am.”
Tears fell from your eyes, and his expression softened.
“It’s okay... You d-”
“I have!” You shouted, cutting him off. Your hands flew to tangle in your hair. “How could I do this to you? After all you’ve done for me?” You cried. “Kev I’m so fucking sorry because not only I was oblivious to your feelings, but also mine.”
He cocked his head, confused.
“What?”
“Kevin I can’t be without you. I feel empty, you’re my other half. I miss everything about you.” You admitted, finding it hard to keep eye contact.
“Hey... You don’t have to feel like you need to reciprocate my feelings. You can’t force that kind of things y/n. I can still be your friend... Maybe I just need a little time to heal, but I’ll be okay. We’ve been together through thick and thin, haven’t we?” He smiled sadly, and your sobs increased.
“No, Kevin!” You cried out, looking at him again and wiping the tears from your eyes with the back of your hand. “It’s not like that!” You assured. “I thought I liked Minchan, I thought that I’d have the perfect life with this cute boyfriend and the best of friends beside me... But how can that happen when I lost both of them?”
“What do you mean?” He asked, frowning. Placing his hands on your shoulders in concern. The sweetness in his voice despite everything made your heart sink down to your stomach. “I already told you... If you want to be with Minchan, do it. I won’t stop being your friend. I might have been distant, even absent these past few days, but... No matter what you do, I’ll always be here for you.”
He was really confused, and you couldn’t blame him for that. You were a mess.
“No Kevin, you don’t understand. I don’t want to be with Minchan.”
“What? Why not?”
“Because since you left I am not myself! I can’t sleep, I can’t eat. Even when he was right beside me I felt empty, Kev. I didn’t understand, after how much I dreamed about him I thought he would be enough, but Jacob was right. A crush sometimes isn’t meant to stop being an illusion, something platonic. And it only made sense the moment he kissed me and all I could think about was you. It had been you all the time and I couldn’t see it.”
His eyes flew open in shock. He felt his heart stopping and shivers running down his skin. His pulse hammered loudly in his ears.
“I know I don’t deserve this and It’s okay if It’s too late for me to say what I'm about to say, but I love you, Kevin. I never thought about it because I always thought you saw me as a sister... But now that I had this deep conversation with my inner self and true feelings I know that I am in love with you.” You cried. “I can’t keep this to myself anymore, I am hurting because I hurt you, and I understand if you reject me b-”
Kevin stepped forward and cupped your face, crashing his lips with yours in a kiss that interrupted your speech. Your body responded to him automatically, kissing him back feverishly. His lips mended with yours and this time your whole world turned upside down. Butterflies in your stomach, burning skin and a racing heart. You wrapped your arms around his neck and buried your fingers in his soft hair. He tilted his head, kissing you deeper as he pushed you until your back hit the door.
One of his hands moved down to the small of your back, pulling you in and pressing your body flush against his as his free one threaded in your hair at the nape of your neck.
His tongue swiped over your lower lip and you parted them to grant him access. The moment his wet tongue touched yours, the ground beneath you shook, making your legs wobbly.
He then pulled back just a little, forehead still pressed against yours as you regained your breath. He gave you a lazy smile, eyes going down to the moon hanging from your neck. He clasped his fingers around it, letting out a throaty chuckle before he locked eyes with you again.
“You thought about me, hm?  Lucky me. Now you have a good reason to think about my lips instead. I'll make sure to kiss you as many times as you need so they're the only ones you ever taste." He teased, caressing your jaw and pecking your lips. "Took you long enough, though, my baby.” He added, pressing his lips on yours in another kiss.
You caressed his jaw with your fingers while you kissed. Oh, how much you were missing out.
“Fuck, I love you.” You whispered in between kisses, and he hummed contently.
When you two finally pulled back with swollen lips, his tongue darted out to run over his, a sweet smile then forming on them as his fingers caressed your skin. Your eyes were still hooded, but you smiled, touching his pretty face with your fingers as you drank him in.
“I love you. And you don’t know how hard it’s been for me... I never thought I’d hear what you said. I never understood how’s that you seemed to fit so well with me but you couldn’t feel it. I was sure that I had no chance, but I needed to try. I needed to have you. I’ve loved you for so long.” He confessed, caressing the way down your arms until he reached your hands and intertwined his fingers with yours. His eyes filled with adoration. “Please come with me.” He said,  dragging you with him.
“Where are we going?”
He turned his head and smirked, lifting a brow.
“I might not need it now, but I told you I had something for you, right?”
Your eyes shot open a shocked look, cheeks burning in crimson red.
“Kevin... What are you thinking?”
He stopped in his tracks and cocked his head, before he realized what you were thinking.
“Okay, I wasn’t really thinking about that, but I mean... If you’re down...”
You laughed out loud, smacking his chest.
“Seriously!”
He laughed along.
“I wrote a song for you.”
“A song?”
He nodded, smiling.
“Since you never noticed that you belonged with me, I was ready to say it in a love song.”
“But I ruined it.” You pouted, walking into his room.
He turned around and cupped your face, placing a kiss on your forehead.
“You did.” He agreed, making you glare at him. “But don’t worry princess, life isn’t long enough for all the songs that I’m gonna write about you.”

You, the literal definition of perfect sitting in front of me, blinding me from the world. You were my world… Until our argument… Which I kind of started, but that’s besides the point. We never fight, so when we do, things don’t always end pretty. This is one of the cases where it all went sour and unfortunately I don’t know if we can recover.
“Sunwoo, what’s your problem? Can I not live my own life too?”
“I– I didn’t say you couldn’t”
“You said I shouldn’t have friends because they wouldn’t be able to take care of me like you. Are you saying you’re perfect? I don’t want perfect friends, I want friends that are human, Sunwoo”
“I didn’t say I was perfect! I just don’t want you hanging around them”
That was when all hell broke loose; shoes, pens, vases and even clothes were thrown around Sunwoo’s room. Truthfully there was nothing wrong with those friends you had, I just felt like you were slowly replacing me with them and I got insecure, but of course I would never tell you that, because why would I?
“Oh so there’s a ‘them’ now? I can’t believe you Sunwoo! You have friends of your own too and I don’t say anything about them! Why is it suddenly different when I have my own friends? Are you j–”
“For the last time, I am not fucking jealous or whatever the fuck you want to call it! I just don’t like your friends, okay?”
“See, you are jealous. Simple”
You gathered your things and started heading towards the door, sadness painted all over your face. I couldn’t bear to look at you, I even missed your silent “Bye Sunwoo” as you slowly shut the door to never come back.
We’re just friends I kept reminding myself, but if we’re just friends, why does it hurt so much to let you go then? It felt like a void was suddenly created in my heart. Everywhere I look reminds me of you. You always liked the plump blueberries, the smaller ones were too sour and you always ate your cereal before it got soggy. Your lattes always had an extra pump of sweetener and your sweaters all had little holes in them from your cat.
Three months, that’s how long it’s been since our argument. I haven’t been on social media these three months because your face was everywhere. We still had mutual friends you hangout with and every once in a while I would receive a message from them asking what happened between us. I didn’t have the heart to tell them I got jealous. Honestly, I had nothing to be jealous of since they were good people. They were always looking after you and would call me if anything went wrong.
You would think three months isn’t a short amount of time, but in these three months I learned one of two things. One, you got a promotion and would be sent to the next city to work the lead role of your company. Two, you moved out of your apartment into the city last month and decided not to tell me.
I know I shouldn’t be surprised considering how poorly we left things, but I think it may be for the best. I just can’t help, but feel bad with how I treated them. I shouldn’t’ve been jealous, but I was and that’s unfortunately where I’m at now. I’m alone in my own thoughts, the thoughts that pushed them away, the thoughts that cost me my friendship.
It’s now 6 months now that you left when I received a postcard from you in the mail. It’s a photo of you and… Someone else, you look happy. My heart sank with guilt and remorse as I flipped over the card.
“Hey Sunwoo! Sorry I left so abruptly, but I got promoted to a new position and was transferred to a new branch in the company. I also met someone, they’re really sweet; kind of reminds me of you! I hope you’ve been well! I’m actually flying back to see some old friends and if you’re free, i’d love to see you”
I was conflicted, why would you of all people want to see me? I left things on such a sour note and yet you want to see me? It’s now a few hours before I am meeting up with you. We arranged to meet at our favorite cafe, the one where we shared all our deepest secrets, yet the biggest one I hid from you is my love for you.
“Sunwoo, you look good”
“Thanks, you too”
I forced my response because just moments before I saw you, you were holding hands with someone else. Someone that should’ve been me, but alas, I was too late and my ego blinded me from what was in front of me this whole time.
“Thank you for meeting me here today, I was worried you wouldn’t show up. I mean considering everything”
“What do you mean by everything?” You sat there confused, did I say the wrong thing?
“Sunwoo, you were jealous. Were you not?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about”
“So you were jealous… Cool, I don’t need to know anything else since you clearly don’t care about me and what we went through”
You rolled your eyes and began to get up from your seat, but I couldn’t let you go, not this time. I suddenly got the courage to reach over and gently pull your wrist back.
“Wait!” I got up and continued to hold onto your wrist as we exited the cafe.
“I’m giving you two minutes Sunwoo so you better spill or I’m leaving” You crossed your arms as you turned your head, leaning on the exterior of the cafe.
“Just hear me out, okay? I wasn’t jealous I– I just…” My thoughts suddenly left me which put a disdained expression on your face.
“See! You’re just proving my point Sunwoo. You were jealous. End of story, I’m leaving now” You began to turn around, heading to the end of the street before turning and walking up the hill to where you were staying.
“No! Please! Just hear me out!” I was out of breath having run up the hill, but you didn’t stop.
There was no point. I fucked up, I couldn’t find the words to tell you how much life you added back into me. You were the light of my life and yet, I put yours out. Honestly, I don’t know what to do anymore. You were my person, the person I went to for advice, the person I went to for comfort, but now I have to comfort myself.
All those years of friendship are now over since I tossed everything to the side because I couldn’t suck up my jealousy. I never imagined myself to be the jealous type, but with you, you were different. I thought– No. I think– I don’t know. I have to find my own happiness, to find my own drive and maybe when you’re ready, we could be friends again.
Until then, I’ll walk on my own.
