Inside A Genius’s Brain (5/7)
Two more chapters and then I think it will be finished! I know @chitarra10 will be happy about that!
Inside A Genius’s Brain - After musing that he would like to figure out just what makes Sherlock tick, he finds he has somehow been able to do just that…and he learns so much more about his consultant than he had ever thought possible.
READ CHAPTER 1 | READ CHAPTER 5
Sherlock recited Molly’s coffee order perfectly, which made him think that either getting Molly coffee was something he did on occasion or it was something that had stuck out in that mind palace of his. He also directed Greg to the types of chocolate she enjoyed and her “favorite meal to eat in her office.” If Greg was walking into the morgue with a knowing smirk, it was because he had finally realized Molly was more important to Sherlock than he had let on.
“Five bodies, Greg?” Molly said. She looked rather fetching today, with her hair in a tidy knot at the nape of her neck with a few strands out, and a turquoise and black striped shirt and black slacks. He could feel Sherlock stewing at the appreciation that he was showing, but if he’d ever thought he’d stand a chance with Molly that had been dashed the night of the Christmas party. There was something between them and he wasn’t about to interfere. “Take my bribe into the office and I’ll tell you what I know from the first victim. Keep in mind I’m not done with the post mortem yet.”
“Got it,” Greg said. He took the food and set it on her desk and then looked around. Sherlock seemed to be still stewing in his head but he wasn’t about to mention it to Sherlock. He grinned warmly when Molly came into the office. “I’m really sorry, but Sh—intuition told me this might have been something you’d seen before?”
“You almost slipped,” Sherlock said in a taunting voice in his head.
“Shut up.” Greg turned his attention to Molly at that point, tuning Sherlock out for the moment.
“Well, it’s definitely not a regular bullet that killed him. Not a blank, either. I would say it was a wax bullet. It reminds me of a case I worked on with Sherlock.” She paused. “I mean, one that Dimmock had called Sherlock in on and I helped with. Sherlock doesn’t actually work with me.” She looked at the clipboard in her hands. “I wouldn’t be surprised if they were all killed with wax bullets, but I won’t know more until I look at the other bodies and finish this one.”
“Have her run a toxicology screening for anything that would kill them fast, poison wise. I think the bullets were coated in something. I’d be more sure if someone had a pocket magnifier.”
“There’s a chance there might be poison involved,” Greg said, ignoring Sherlock’s jab. “Could you run a screen?”
“I can,” she said with a nod. Then she paused. “Why isn’t Sherlock here?”
“He’s phoning it in today,” Greg said. “He’s the one who suggested you take a look and to run the tox screen.”
“Then I’ll run a Sherlock-level one and look for the weird stuff too.” She tucked one of the hairs back behind her ear and looked at the food and coffee. “How did you know what I like?”
“A little birdie told me,” Greg said.
“Shut it,” Sherlock said in his head as Molly grinned brightly. “That smile is meant for me.”
“Well, tell the birdie thank you. Oh! And tell Sally thanks for the bubble bath she sent by earlier. I was out, and this one with Epsom salt is my favourite.” Greg made a note to remember that for her birthday, once he found out what kind she sent. “I’m going to have some of this coffee and I’ll go back to the post mortem. Do you want me to call you when I’m done?”
“Yes please, I’ll make sure Sherlock knows what you tell me.” She nodded and inhaled the steam coming from the coffee cup before taking a sip, and Greg realized it was time to leave no and let her enjoy a moment of peace before she dug back into her busy day. “Now what, Sherlock?” he asked the voice in his head.
“Now, home. Your home, not mine, unfortunately. I need to think.”
“Not going to happen.”
“What?”
“I have things to do, Sherlock, pertaining to this case as well as the three other open ones I have that you have no involvement in. I have to head back to the Yard and start working on those. But I can try and keep it quiet, at least.”
“Better yet...do you have any violin music?”
Greg grinned as he left the morgue. “I’ll see what I can do.”

"i still haven't finished series 8." Oh... that's right, you did say that before, I forgot. X-) Sorry. X-) How about Janine Hawkins and Jack Harkness, then? :-)
It has taken ages for me to reply because this was hidden under my buried prompts in my inbox, but here you and @juldooz go!
A Man Crashes A Wedding… - Jack Harkness finds himself at the Watson-Morstan wedding in a whole different universe, wondering what the night (and his future) might have in store for him.
Read @ AO3 | Help Me Survive? | Commission Me?
He wasn’t supposed to be here. Not here at the wedding, exactly, but here in this universe. As the Doctor had said, wibbly wobbly timey wimey and all that, but crossing universes was a thing that was not supposed to happen.
Of course, considering his awful awful luck in all things, and the fact he was going to be alive…well, forever, he should have expected it. But it was going to change the future in his home universe if it hadn’t already. He knew what awaited him, being The Face of Boe and all that, but maybe…maybe that wouldn’t happen here. New universe, new rules?
He could hope.
He didn’t know anyone at this wedding party, but he had heard it was the Watson-Morstan wedding and that meant something in his world. Apparently, John Watson and Sherlock Holmes were real live people in the flesh in this universe. Who knew? Maybe there were some things to start looking forward to in this universe after all. At least the liquor selection was top notch, he’d give them that.
“You know, if Sherlock hadn’t left, I could get a read on you.”
Nice female Irish accent. Not the slightest bit slurred, too, which was a bonus. But the fact she’d pegged him as something “other” told him he should keep his guard up. “And just why would you need a read on me?” he asked, giving her a blindingly charming smile.
“Well, I’m interested in having a rather enjoyable time after this wedding, but I hate to say, the friends of my friends are rather…uninteresting. Sherlock excepted, of course.”
“Of course,” he said.
“Did you come here with a date?” she asked.
He shook his head. “Stag. A friend of a friend, but not a friend of your friends, I don’t think.”
“Interesting,” she said with a warm smile. “So if you’re alone…would you like to have company?”
He indicated to the bartender to get two drinks, a refill of his and whatever she wanted. “Share a drink with me and we’ll find out,” he said, raising his glass to her when it was slid in front of him.
“I’ll drink to that,” she said in reply and tapping her glass against his.
This could be a fascinating universe after all…

You're still doing song recs? How about "Saturn" by Sleeping At Last? :-) youtube(.)com/watch?v=dzNvk80XY9s
couldn’t listen all the way through | not my thing | it’s okay | kinda catchy | I really like this | downloading immediately | already in my library
Okay first of all the instrumental is amazing, you know I’m a sucker for classical music so I absolutely love the strings in the first half, just beautiful. The singing is great too, it’s not over-complicated or anything, quite simple actually, but it works really well. Of course this has nothing to do with the song itself but I watched the official music video when I listened to it and the visuals were mesmerising.
One small thing about the lyrics, there is one line that says “I’d give anything to hear/You say it one more time/That the universe was made/Just to be seen by my eyes.” That was slightly unexpected to me, because I would have thought that it’s a much more beautiful, much more wondrous thing that we exist despite how rare our existence is (like it says in the song [although you could argue that statistically the chances of life in the universe isn’t a rare occurrence but we won’t go into that]) and despite the fact that the universe isn’t made for us. To quote Richard Dawkins, “[a]fter sleeping through a hundred million centuries we have finally opened our eyes on a sumptuous planet, sparkling with color, bountiful with life. Within decades we must close our eyes again.” That our small, insignificant, fleeting lives exist in the midst of the apathy of the universe is beautiful in itself.

FIC PROMPTS
Okay. So as most of you know, I had a habit of saving my inbox messages with prompts until I answered them, and then that’s how I’d answer the prompt. I had prompts from FIVE YEARS ago, when I was writing Wholock fic, on there.
And I did not transfer all of them to my laptop, so there are a ton that are essentially lost, as are commission details ( @chitarra10, I need legit all your song based commissions again, for the Cabin Pressure and Elementary fics, and especially the art based Holmes Brothers one).
So. Yes. I am sad.
So I’m about to go find some of my fave fic prompt lists and stuff and I am begging you guys, send me prompts. I was going to do the prompt claim for my 19 year anniversary but fuck it. Any prompt I get from today until August 1st will be added to a series for 19 year anniversary fic.
Please, send me stuff and spread this around? Thanks.

Does @gatorfisch really not know when she’s being trolled? And this lot, are they that uninformed about the world and poor at simple research?
I note that the puritanical outrage at women with agency is being driven by @aeltrileaf again. Her so called research - from David Icke, conspiracy sites and fake news sites (including one who thinks the UK is within the Schengen group) - is always aimed at ordinary women dating or married to famous men

Sherlock Appreciation
So, I’ve been working with @doughnutsaremydivision and we’re thinking of doing a video for the Sherlock appreciation. So if people want to record a video message or just a voice message that would be awesome. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that we will happily put your message in the video in writing. Also, please try not to put swearing in it, your message will go through but we’ll probably black out the swear words.
It would also be great if you could put the country your from to show how Sherlock has spread and if you have a preference of if you want your name in there or who you want to say your message is from add that in too.
We’re thinking of putting fanart over the top of the voice recordings so any contributions would be amazing. If you do send in fanart, let us know how you want to be credited so we can give you the right recognition.
If you don’t feel comfortable doing any of that I fully understand and am happy to add whatever contribution no matter what size.
For a deadline I’m thinking about 10am on the 19th 20th  22nd of January Australian ESDT which is 11pm on the 18th 19th 21st of January UK time I think. I think it will be better to try and get it to the cast and crew sooner rather than later but if people need more time just send me a message, ask or whatever and that should be fine.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far and sorry for changing it. If you want to leave your message as a written one that is completely fine but I’ll tag people who have sent things in so far or showed interest.

Inside A Genius’s Brain (4/?)
I’m going to try and finish this one up tonight because I am on a roll with it, for the first time in a while, and it’s a commission owed to @chitarra10. Enjoy this short chapter setting up for a conversation with Molly!
Inside A Genius’s Brain - After musing that he would like to figure out just what makes Sherlock tick, he finds he has somehow been able to do just that...and he learns so much more about his consultant than he had ever thought possible.
READ CHAPTER 1 | READ CHAPTER 4
Sherlock didn’t natter on in his head as he left and went about the business of IDing the dead, making arrangements for loved ones to be told after the autopsy results were in, and giving the scene another once over. Oh, he piped in when there was something of note, but he was quiet inside his head more than he spoke. He wondered briefly if John dealt with more bouts of silence like this.
“He does,” Sherlock said. “Sometimes I need noise, just to drown out all the unimportant information, but mostly there’s silence. There’s too much noise at crime scenes with the technicians and you and Donovan and Especially Anderson. The man does prattle on and on.”
“But he’s good at what he does,” Greg thought to them both.
“Yes, and a dog is good at pissing on a target,” Sherlock said sourly.
“Hey. If you’re going to be in my head you’ll respect my team,” Greg thought sternly. “Why do you and Anderson despise each other so much, anyway?”
“He’s sloppy” Sherlock said. “He may get from point A to point B in his analysis but there’s no...” Sherlock stopped, as though he was trying to capture a certain word. “Savoir-faire.”
“I’m with you on the sloppy, but he’s getting better. Give him more of a chance.”
“When he proves himself to be up to my standards, I will.”
“And you have high standards?”
“The highest. It’s why I prefer working with you.”
For a moment, Greg felt a burst of pride at that. “Thank you.”
“Don’t let it go to your head, Geoff.”
“Why do you do that? I know you know my name is Greg.”
“When it matters, if it ever does, I’ll use your proper name.”
“I must not be that important to you then. Just call you on cases and give your brain a chance to fine-tune itself more.” Now it was Greg’s turn to sound sour. He didn’t like to admit it but there were times he really loathed that habit of Sherlock’s to misname him.
“Then, for the time being, I’ll refer to you as Lestrade. Happy?”
“Happier,” he said. “Now then. I don’t have a reason to be at the crime scene anymore. The technicians are collecting the evidence and, well, I’m not holding it for you. What do I do now?”
“Barts. Time to mollify Molly and prepare her for a busy day.” He nodded, knowing full well anyone who might have seen him would be giving him a questioning glance, but it was out of habit and really, this was still so strange carrying on a full conversation with this specter of Sherlock in his head. He was going to slip up more times that day, he knew it, but for now, he’d have to deal with the slip-ups as they came.

For the Christmas questions thing... Ribbon, Rudolf, Ice, and Cookies. :-)
I am so so so sorry I am answering these, like, a year late!
RIBBON: What’s a book that had a strong impact on you? As a child, it would definitely be The Westing Game. As an adult, probably Comencement.
RUDOLF: What’s a band a family member introduced you to? My son is responsible for introducing me to Knife Party, though I don’t know if that’s a band or not.
ICE: Would you rather be overdressed or underdressed at every party? Underdressed. I’d probably be more comfortable that way.
COOKIES: Top three favorite bands? Linkin Park, Korn and while she’s a solo singer Lorde.

For the "ask me anything," what is your occupation? :-)
by night I run a nefarious cheesemaking ring. twice a month we stop by a school to gather recruits. the work is hard but it pays. my accountant ensures it does. she’s a decent lady, but she smokes the fuck out of her lungs, and I tell her to quit but she always just smiles wistfully and gazes out the window off into the distance. I always wonder what she’s thinking about then.
by day I write meaningless speeches for my local politician
[anti-honesty hour ask me anything and I will respond with blatant lies]

I was tagged!!! by the fabulous @mouseymodesty and @likingthistoomuch - thanks lovelies! - to post my lock screen, selfie and the last song i listened to.
that’s me.  and my patented selfie method.  I hate having my picture taken, even by myself.  So this is my solution.  You might recognize the locale.
Last song - Magnificent (She Says) by Elbow.  Go listen, it is magical.  Also the title track took my breath away.  Really the whole album has been on repeat the whole day.
Lock screen - again, you might recognize the locale.
I tag @bassfanimation, @mae-jones, @anarfea, @chitarra10, @eugeniebatch, @philosofish, and @elennemigo

chitarra10 replied to your post “Honestly give me a scene where Mary goes into the labor, and Sherlock...”
Oh, Nelly... just wait until you see it actually happen in the episode... Sherlock gets just a little more than he thought he could handle. X-) I'm gonna record it from PBS and upload it to Dropbox, so you can download it from me as soon as I get that wrangled. X-)
I’ve actually already seen it, and I’m about to rewatch it here at 9 on PBS. :)
