theoretical entroponetics: the post
okay. LONG post incoming. i have summarized all available information on the pale, separated into confirmed objective truth & in-canon speculation that may or may not be true, and then appended my own very detailed theory on the pale! this post is meant as a resource; please feel free to add things of your own in replies/reblogs (please tag me if you do!) or point out any errors i may have made. you’re welcome to use any of my personal theory in your own work but please credit me if you do!! (and tag me in that/send it to me, i really want to see what you do with it!)
Here’s what we *know* about the pale, according to in-game and concept art:
It erases data, at least the kind stored on radiocomputer filament and magnetic tapes.
It has no dimensions of its own- pale latitude compressors serve to force dimensions on raw pale and allow navigation.
The pale is referred to in the context of entropy
It arrived with mankind, but not immediately- there are 8000 years of written history, but the pale was first recorded 6000 years ago, implying that pale either didn’t start forming immediately or that it was so insignificant/distant that it went unnoticed for 2000 years.
There exists a group of people who are actively trying to expedite entroponetic collapse; the ideology is called entropolism
To this point, pale isn’t immediately visible. Pale has molecular structure, but manifests as a waveform, and only becomes visible at a certain distance from the origin, once wave frequency is sufficiently high.
During pale exposure, people experience “sense objects”: visual or auditory hallucinations and/or vivid physical recollections of memories. These hallucinations may originate from their own consciousness or someone else’s. c
People require physical and mental examinations before interisolary travel and are allotted a certain number of days per year as their pale exposure threshold.
Overexposure results in a pale “addiction”- these individuals crave pale exposure, and it’s unclear if this addiction can ever be broken. It’s also unclear whether there is a point at which pale exposure becomes lethal, but given that it dissolves matter, we can be fairly certain that a given length of continuous exposure will kill.
Radio signals, cold plasma torches and anodic sound are all used to manage the pale to permit travel through it. Plasma torches destabilize the molecular structure of the pale to create gaps, anodic sound widens and maintains these gaps, and radio signals rationalize the pale into recognizable dimensions.
Radio signals are, in return, susceptible to corruption by the pale, resulting in entroponetic crosstalk, where signals from the past or the future are transmitted to the present. CCP is one such phenomenon and is directly related to the formation of new pale through magpie interpretation.
There is a dedicated Union for people who work in and with the pale (the Pale Workers Union). They have two slogans; “The light purifies; The sound absolves; The pale no more” and “Son et Fureur” (sound and fury)
Here’s what we may choose to believe about the pale, based on the thoughts and beliefs of in-game characters:
In conversation with Soona, the pale is described as a “curdling milk” phenomenon: “repulsive, but natural”
In this same conversation you can theorize that the churches were meant to contain the pale origins; out of the seven churches, six were destroyed during the suzerain or the revolution
The phasmid and whatever other lifeforms it’s communicated with believe that entroponetic collapse is comparable to an oxygen holocaust (i.e. the great oxygenation event), implying mass extinction due to a toxic overabundance of sapient thought
Harry refers to it once by saying “The wolf is at the door. It’s going to eat the sun.” so take that as you will
It’s likely that Tiago’s “Mother” is some manifestation from the pale, if you choose to believe that the 2mm hole is in fact a pale origin point (the concept art does confirm it’s a pale origin, but the game offers other explanations, so I won’t say it’s the only answer)
Inframaterialists believe that revolutionary action (NOT thought) may create a counter-force that will prevent the spread of pale; it’s unclear if any reversal is possible.
The world will be fully consumed by the pale in 27 years (I put it here because you may or may not believe that shivers and harry are reliably sourcing this information)
And now my personal speculation about the pale:
A quick and easy point: it’s confirmed that the pale has a measurable EMF “exhalation” frequency that varies with proximity. Strong enough EMF pulses can actually tamper with magnetic storage- radiocomputer filaments! Electronics! Fortress Accident data loss! This gives us a tangible explanation for why pale can delete data :)
This may also explain its ability to cause radio interference- radio frequencies are just a subset of EMF frequencies, so it’s possible that pale exhalation on *just the right frequency* is what’s responsible for the entroponetic crosstalk we get on radios sometimes
The pale canonically has an atomic structure, but it also has wave properties, so it’s possible that the pale has wave-particle duality on its subatomic level, like photons do
Based on this, entroponetics is likely a very similar field to quantum mechanics, which might be an interesting source of ideas for anyone (like me) who wants to explore pale-related possibilities
The pale could be a manifestation of raw patterns. That’s why math “forces dimensions” on it- it rationalizes or “tames” the patterns, which allows it to be manipulated to a certain degree.
There are several references to the pale that refer to mathematical concepts and patterns, saying that the world dissolves into “a tangle of azimuths and cosines” as it blends into the interisolary pale- more on this later
Steban comments that the pale is commonly theorized to be nostalgia or “historical inertia”, but it’s largely agreed that it’s “the past” in a broad sense. Thinking about the idiom that history repeats itself, it could be that history/the past is part of the pattern that comprises the pale, and that it’s also the type of pattern most readily perceived by people (people don’t viscerally *perceive* math, for example, but we experience memories)
To first define entropy: Chemically speaking, “the measure of a system’s thermal energy per unit temperature that is unavailable for doing useful work. (per encyclopedia britannica).” Physically speaking, it’s a measure of randomness or disorder in a system. Less work/less order = more entropy; it’s a physicochemical “winding down” of a given system
It’s commonly thought that pale is the entropic force, but what if it’s the opposite? (Keep in mind the chemical definition: less ability to do work = more entropy) Consider: the pale as less entropic, a cleanup force, recycling the potential lost by death and destruction in the universe. This in part explains why a dead person’s memory is present in the pale- their potential has been recycled into the pale in the form of their memories (their life’s *pattern*)
Enthalpy is a related concept to entropy and is defined as the total energy contained within a system. Holding the system enthalpy constant- saying the universe will always have the same amount of total energy, no matter what, according to thermodynamics- results in an entropic tug-of-war between the pale and the world. The pale wins through sheer inertia (again, inertia is mentioned specifically in game)
Overall: think of the world as “cooling”, losing heat and energy through war and death and complacency. Think of the pale as steam and heat, melting down old materials to start it all over again. (Kim says, *through entroponetic interference*: “it’s been a long, cold winter.”)
Consider: the pale as a sinusoidal function, eternally repeating. The pale recycling the universe to start a new cycle, “spending” itself, resulting in pale not being present in the beginning. Then, as the new things begin to settle- with the advent of the human mind, specifically- the pale reforming, slowly reclaiming potential, eventually ending the cycle to start again.
In comes CCP and magpies. Consider: CCP as a backwards transmission from the next “cycle” (after all, pale has no sense of time). Magpies as *pattern-sensitive* people who are able to decode CCP into something useful called novelty. They reach into the potential of the next cycle to build the potential in their current one- this paradox could be what creates more pale, because (and this is where it gets weird, I apologize) doing this retroactively increases the total amount of energy/work/potential in the current cycle to have been reclaimed by the pale for the next one.
Think of the pale as the compost bin for every single thought in the universe. The pale is the exact right size to compost every little atom and thought in the universe, and can hold nothing extra. But magpies reach into the future, the next cycle, and bring in extra. This paradox forces the pale to grow to accommodate the additional material, which also increases the starting potential of the next cycle. This process allows each cycle to accumulate minor changes from the previous one, which can snowball over many cycles.
Furthermore, to the inframaterialists’ point: revolutionary action would be such a radical shift in inertia that it would increase the potential in the world, forcing the pale to pause/shrink to “balance the equation” in terms of pale-vs-world thermodynamics. So maybe they’re right after all :)
And some diagramming, to explain the utter bullshit I’ve just dropped:

Who is Carol Christian Poell?
The demand for intricate and dark artisanal clothing has boomed in recent years, largely due to the ease of viewing through the internet, and the recent obsession over quality, artisanal garments. However, brands that fit into this description have always had a small, yet loyal following, such as Guidi or Boris Bidjan Saberi. Even though these labels are highly regarded, none have generated the same level of enthusiasm and awe as Carol Christian Poell, often known as CCP. Poell, who is renowned for his innovative design methods, is one of the most amazing examples of contemporary fashion, which can also be attributed to his ability to shield himself from public gaze.
Poell has a loyal following due to his unique and innovative approach to fashion design. His designs are characterized by their sculptural shapes, avant-garde silhouettes, and experimentation with materials. He is particularly renowned for his use of leather, which he is able to  manipulate in ways that are both technically complex and visually striking. His work is often seen as a bridge between fashion and contemporary art, with many pieces taking on a sculptural quality that pushes the boundaries of traditional clothing design. His commitment to traditional craftsmanship and attention to detail also endears him to his followers, many of whom are willing to pay exorbitant prices for his one of a kind pieces. Overall, his dedication to pushing the boundaries of fashion design, combined with his commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail, has cemented his place as one of the most influential and respected designers in the fashion industry today, and has earned him a loyal following among many fashion enthusiasts and collectors around the world.
The unconventional designer is known for being private and reclusive, and somebody who tends to avoid the spotlight. Despite his reputation as one of the most innovative and influential designers of his generation, he rarely grants interviews and does not participate in the traditional fashion show circuit. Instead, he prefers to let his designs speak for themselves, and to focus on perfecting his craft while developing new techniques and materials. Poell is known for his meticulous attention to detail and dedication to traditional, yet innovative craftsmanship, and he is said to spend months or even years perfecting each piece in his collections. While Poell's aversion to the spotlight can make it challenging to learn more about him, it has also contributed to his allure and mysterious persona, and has helped to cement his status as a cult favorite among fashion insiders and collectors.
Carol Christian Poell was born in Linz, Austria in 1966. Poell studied in the Senior Academy of Commerce and the School of Fashion and Design in Graz, Austria, soon after finishing high school. Poell had simply two options while residing in Graz: develop his expertise in Gerberlehre or seek a career in tailoring. He was already a skilled leather-maker with a basic understanding of tailoring at that point, thereby compelling Poell to pursue the latter. He became dissatisfied after leaving the School of Fashion and Design for The Costume Michelbeuern School for Tailoring and Dressmaking in Vienna, where he soon discovered that Vienna did not require any form of university-level education for tailoring, which led him to change his professional path one last time towards fashion design. Soon after, Poell relocated to Milan to finish his studies at the Domus Academy. There, he earned his master's degree in fashion design, met Sergio Simone, and together they founded CCP Srl, the official production and distribution firm for CCP.
Known for his innovative and unconventional methods in fashion design, which have helped him carve out a unique niche in the industry, Poell has sparked widespread interest in the fashion industry. One of his most distinctive methods is his approach to leatherworking, which involves treating the material with a variety of chemical and natural treatments, namely soaking it in saltwater or wrapping it in sawdust. This results in a variety of textures and finishes that are both visually striking and technically complex. Poell is also known for his use of unusual materials, such as horsehair, human hair, and even blood, which he incorporates into his designs in unexpected ways. Specifically, during one of his later collections, Poell applied animal blood to the interior side of leather, as he believed it would help to "give back life" to the material. He thought that this unconventional method was the only way to achieve a truly unique character for the leather, as the chemical properties of blood would naturally change in tone over time. His experimentation with materials extends to his footwear as well, with Poell often creating strangely sculptural shoes that challenge traditional notions of footwear design, and his commitment to innovation and experimentation has helped him establish a loyal following of fashion enthusiasts and collectors who are drawn to his unique and boundary-pushing approach to fashion.
In the year 1994, Poell found himself on the brink of releasing his first line of men's clothing. However, after much contemplation, he had a sudden realization that he neither wanted to work under his own name nor put out a comprehensive collection. Instead, Poell chose to unveil a modest assortment of clothing, embedded with the industrial motifs he was accustomed to and characterized by the manufacturing process that produced them. This small, experimental array, which would later be dubbed the "Unintended Collection," comprised only four basic menswear items: trousers, a jacket, a shirt, and a T-shirt, that Poell imagined to be the foundation of his forthcoming creations.
His vision was validated when a handful of Japanese buyers discovered a pair of his trousers and placed an order for ten more of them, as well as for the rest of his first collection. This led Poell to create and release his first full collection, in Spring/Summer 1995-96, named the “1st Intended Collection”. The collection was a defining moment in the designer's career and in the fashion industry as a whole, earning him praise from fashion critics and collectors alike for its innovative approach to materials and design. Notably, Poell received praise from the Chanel creative director at the time, Karl Lagerfeld. The collection featured sculptural leather jackets, avant-garde trousers, and shirts with intricately constructed detailing. Each piece was crafted with meticulous attention to detail, and the quality of the craftsmanship was apparent in every stitch and seam. Poell's unique blend of technical skill and creative vision earned him a reputation as one of the most innovative designers of his generation, and his first full collection set the stage for the many groundbreaking collections that would follow. Today, the collection is remembered as a landmark moment in fashion history, a testament to Poell's creativity, and a touchstone for anyone seeking to understand the evolution of contemporary fashion design.
Carol Christian Poell's first womenswear collection in 1999 marked a pivotal moment in his career, as it demonstrated his ability to push the boundaries of traditional clothing design even further, in new and innovative ways. Initially intended as a men's collection project, the Spring/Summer 1999 collection didn't fit the coherent image of Poell’s previous menswear lines due to its theme. However, he saw this as the perfect opportunity to create his first-ever venture into women's fashion, shifting his focus to designing the collection for women instead. Contrary to the general consensus in the fashion industry, Poell famously believed designing womenswear to be much more restricting compared to menswear, and thought that he was able to push himself more when designing menswear.
Carol Christian Poell encountered difficulty in creating women's clothing due to the ordinary and mundane nature of women's fashion, which he believed tended to become excessive and overindulgent. To break away from this pattern, he devised the "Trilogy of Monotypologies" for his debut women's collection. The collection showcased single garments that emphasized specific body parts, rather than a cohesive ensemble. Poell's approach aimed to avoid following trends and instead focused on presenting each garment as an individual piece. He began by designing lower body garments, which were later complemented by two other phases. This concept was called "Le Corps Présenti," or the presentation of the body. Each season, he released complementary garments to those from previous collections, but not the complete outfit, and the emphasis was always on the individual piece, regardless of its relevance to the entire collection. Poell aimed to offer his audience an unconventional sense of continuity and redefine the relationship between garments and the human body.
Poell’s mastery of fashion and design extends beyond the realm of mere expansion, as he also delves deep into its intricacies. No element, be it the fabric, seam, or pleat, escapes his scrutiny. To create garments that are surreal and intimately personal, he manipulates materials with cutting-edge technology developed specifically for this purpose. Leather, a fabric that holds great personal significance for Poell due to his grandfather’s tannery, is a frequent feature of his designs. In his "Best Before 16/10/00" collection, Poell pushed the boundaries of traditional tanning techniques by experimenting with a rare and obscure method that dilutes the leather's transparency. Driven by his fascination with themes of disruption and death, Poell seeks to explore the deeper meaning behind his designs, offering his audience a glimpse beyond the surface.
Another aspect of Poell’s works that is extremely unconventional are his runway shows, or perhaps lack thereof. Poell has never conducted a traditional runway show for any of his collections, often opting for more abstract, or even groundbreaking ways of presenting his garments. His lack of a conventional catwalk has been replaced with the most obscure of locations, such as underneath a sheet in a morgue, surrounded by skinned animals in a slaughterhouse, floating down a channel, or behind the metal bars of a large dog kennel. Poell selects these locations to both explore the themes of death and uncomfortability, whilst demonstrating the constraints that are set upon us by society. The recurring themes and inspiration visible throughout Poell’s collections can generally be chalked up to his childhood experiences. He had a close relative that was a doctor, and most of his other family members worked with leather, surrounding him with various, confronting stages of life from a young age. His childhood influence is clear in his works, and Poell is unmatched in demonstrating this through his art.
Carol Christian Poell challenges the political and commercial influences in modern fashion with his scientific design process and methodology. He is an artisan who does not seek mainstream media attention despite his adoration from many in the fashion community, and rather than physical appearance, Poell focuses on the relationship between fabrics, textures, and form as an industrial designer. Fashion shows and media coverage are not central to the garments he produces and only hinder his process. Although the designer's ambiguity is difficult to put into words, his core philosophy is best captured by the idea that “Avant-garde is advanced and individual thinking. The exact translation from French means, ‘before the crowd or the mass,’ therefore it can never be trendy nor fashionable.”

Toku Tuesday 46 - Stephen Chow (周星馳)
Hi friends. Welcome back to Toku Tuesday.
I’m not going to write a huge amount tonight because I’m still pretty numb from losing Fall. But, in the interests of spending time with people and having something light-hearted, tonight if you would join me we’ll be watching some of the films of Stephen Chow/周星馳 (Jāu Sīngchìh) - WP says ‘Stephen Chow’ is his ‘professional’ name so let’s go with that...
youtube
Chow was born in Hong Kong in 1962, so during the long period of British occupation (c.f. TT #32). Imspired by Bruce Lee’s The Big Boss (1971) to aspire to martial arts stardom, he went straight into broadcaster TVB’s acting school straight out of secondary school, worked his way up from being an extra to presenting an astronomy program, and eventually got his break to star in over 40 films starting from Final Justice (1988), becoming one of the major martial arts stars of the 90s.
But we’re not here to talk about his acting! Because as a director, Stephen Chow is known for quite a particular thing: effects-heavy kung fu comedies such as Shaolin Soccer (少林足球, 2001) and especially Kung Fu Hustle (功夫, Kung Fu, 2004). These films are remarkable for being live action that feels a lot like highly stylised animation in its sense of timing and 2D composition.
Let’s not pigeonhole him too narrowly though! Look it up and you find that Chow’s got a pretty long list of director credits, starting with James Bond parody From Beijing With Love (國產凌凌漆, The Domestically Produced 007, 1994) about an 007-like spy defending China from a which ironically ended up banned by the CCP for its depiction of corruption; continuing with Forbidden City Cop (大內密探零零發 Imperial Secret Agent 008) and The God of Cookery (食神) both in 1996, and King of Comedy (喜劇之王) in 1999.
Tumblr media
All of these movies star Chow himself, and it sounds like they tend to be heavy on the Cantonese puns. The God of Cookery for example stars a character whose name has the same pronunciation as Stephen Chow’s, but different characters. Perhaps because this proved a little hard to translate, they were popular in China but it would be Shaolin Soccer that got wildly popular abroad, perhaps because its premise is very clear and funny (a Shaolin monk plays football shot like supernatural martial arts) and that was enough of a hook to get people in where they could enjoy Chow’s excellent editing and visual humour - plus as I recall you don’t really need to know shit about football. Same went for Kung Fu Hustle, which can be easily approached as a kind of parody of kung fu and gangster movies, although it works because it succeeds very well as a kung fu movie. (Someone with more literacy in the genre could probably write a more thorough account of its influences and specific allusions... alas that is not me tonight.)
And since then, what’s Chow been up to? C7J (長江七號) (2008) was the last one in which Chow acts as well as directs, following a construction worker’s son adopting an alien - kind of ET-like premise. It proved rather less accessible to the critics, but I’d very much like to track it down because it sounds pretty fascinating. Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons ( 西遊·降魔篇)(2013) was described to me by @mogsk as a really fun take on the story of Saiyuki; The Mermaid (美人鱼, 2016) is a romantic comedy with the amazing premise of a mermaid assassin. I definitely plan to get all of those movies on a future Toku Tuesday.
Tonight the plan is to do something light-hearted and watch Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle. We’ll be starting in about half an hour so please come in to twitch.tv/canmom and get comfortable!

Crisis in Humanity (2017)
“I think it’s become like that in a way because it’s become so popular. But at the same time, if there’s a crisis in humanity, I go back to that, to what affects me politically.”
- Ben Cabrera (2017)
Benedicto Reyes Cabrera, also known as "BenCab," was born on April 10, 1942, in Malabon, Philippines, and studied at the Philippine University. He is highly regarded as a master of contemporary Philippine art, as he is most commonly known. He was awarded the Gawad CCP Para sa Sining in 1992. (Cultural Center of the Philippines Award for the Arts). President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo awarded him the Order of National Artist for Visual Arts in Malacanan Palace in 2006. At the age of seven, he begins painting on the sidewalk and on walls, motivated by his older brother named Salvador, an established artist. Salvador takes him everywhere and brought him into the world of art.
Crisis in Humanity (2017)
As a normal person who likes gore-themed artwork, it got my attention. Seeing this artwork of the legend Mr. BenCab, I was so amazed and had an eagerness to know what is the story behind this piece. It is an example of a societal problem that exists in many countries. It has something to do with humanity's difficulties, where killings, harassment, and other crimes occur everywhere. Knowing the Philippines, the last administration of President Rodrigo Duterte was exposed to Extra-Judicial killings where Our government's inhumane deed resulted in the deaths of numerous persons who were "suspected" of using illegal narcotics. We all know that consuming illegal substances is bad, but killing someone without further investigation and due process is much worse. Some said that the drug war was anti-poor because a lot of people who died from the killings are the majority from the lower class also known as the poor population. Ben Cabrera was known as a critic of late dictator President Ferdinand Marcos who declared martial law in the mid-’80s. When the current president Duterte allowed the burial of Marcos in the Libingan ng Mga Bayani and freely express his admiration for the late dictator Marcos, the massive killings of the drug war were all over the country, Ben Cabrera was one of the people who stood up and criticized him by his artwork, it speaks how the Philippines experienced the ‘Crisis in Humanity’. There were no particular materials that were shared in the interviews but it is clearly a big canvas with charcoal pencils.
At the first glance, the first thing that comes to my mind is suffering. If you will analyze the faces of every individual in that artwork, the emotions you will see are afraid, despair, sadness, and agony. It clearly implies to me that the people in the artwork had done too much in their life that’s why the facial expressions are kinda bit goosebumps if we will look closely. The shades and the strokes of the charcoal pen are strong.
As a student who’s exposed to social media and in just one click the news is already on my screen, I am aware of what society had been through. I had a friend who’s his father was a victim of EJK and for me, that was really alarming knowing the killers are unknown or called vigelante. My principles are will always side with what is non-violent, I believe that violence is the number one cause of injustices in the world and that is what Ben Cabrera wants to imply, the drug war not only affects the people who died on the scene but the experience left in the consciousness of the people who encounter this bloody drug war. This art made an impact on me especially since we are in a pandemic, we have time to search and watch documentaries and explore art about injustices. It made my principles be sharpened and see the blind spots where I am privileged.
This art will contribute more to seeing the dark side of injustices in the modern world and maybe this served as a platform to discuss these experiences brought about by the abuse of power and corrupt practices.

Writer v. Artist
I feel like the more I try to convey my stories in like, real art classes the more I realize I really am a writer-turned-artist not an artist-who-happens-to-be-a-writer, and the connotations of that difference
Let me explain (because I am Always down to explain random shit, its like My Things because I loathe bing misunderstood, yk how it is)
So I got into writing while I was homeschooled for a couple years in middle school (arguably one of the worst things to happen to me and my social skills, especially since right in the middle of that we moved states but that's another topic) because my mom had me do this writing program book thing instead of just normal English/grammar/etc.
I also learned to diagram sentences around this time, which was another experience in and of itself
But that writing program got me into writing little stories for myself. I started with a couple of little Minecraft-related things because I Was 12 And Obsessed, and while that ALSO led to a lot of other things like diving into the internet and learning what fanfiction was and watching/learning about FNaF which was my gateway fandom as a 13 year old, it also led me to start drawing my characters. I'd been obsessed with dragons since I saw HTTYD as a much smaller child and ended up mashing those two things together and creating a story out of it
(My first story was about a girl who was part Ender Dragon. Yes, 12 year old me was proud of it and I'm not going to make her sad by being ashamed of that!! But it WAS cheesy.)
And I just kind of. Kept writing after the program was finished!! I never really stopped, actually. I took what I created for that little program and turned it into another (still video game related) story that was longer and had just,, SO MANY parts. FNaF got involved bc that was my next obsession/hyperfixation. I made a dozen AUs of half a dozen games and franchises by the time I was 14, and when I was 14 an a freshman in High School I made my first original thing.
"Immortal Idiots." The mashup of stories and original universe ideas and a budding magic system and species that became Broken Dimensions (YEARS later, after revising and editing and AU'ing and not being serious about any of it until I was 17 and taking COMP II at my local college through CCP).
I kept doing art all that time because I needed the visuals for my stories because that's just How My Brain Operates!! Never once did I think of being an author though. Not seriously, not until I realized I was writing a book and had no idea what to do with that information as an 18 year old finishing up their senior year of high school. I wanted to be an artist. I had wanted to be an artist since I was 15 and decided that was a career I saw myself excelling in.
(I used to want to be a marine biologist or a vet or, idk, a rancher out in the Middle of Nowhere, USA. I'd pay real money to know my mother's reaction when I said I wanted to make art for a living lol.)
But the art was always a thing I did to keep my writing juices flowing. They worked together. And sure, I can make art not related to my projects and have gotten better at doing so since getting to university and expanding my skills and experiences a little, but I'm still so focused on the expanded Broken Dimensions universe. And I don't have a problem with that! But it is making me realize, as I try and drudge through a story and concept class, that I Am NOT Great at makign stories that do not, in some way, tie back to BrDim.
Probably because I've spent years building out this giant world inside my head to the point that sometimes I wonder if it'll pull a Tlön, Uqbar, Tertius and come to life all on its own. @interdimensional-lore and the giant ass Milanote dedicated to the project are testament to the fact that I live with my brain in the BrDim universe like 55% of the time at LEAST.
But the idea that I am "a writer-turned-artist not an artist-who-happens-to-be-a-writer" is really starting to be a pain in the ass because I have gotten so used to being immersed in a fictional world that I've curated and developed that I forget sometimes that not everyone else know those stories. It's like I'm a Broken Dimensions History major and everyone else is someone outside my field of expertise who thinks my major doesn't exist until I tell them it does! Which is essentially true, because I've spent years developing all of this and posting it on social media, but until last spring, I'd sat at around 200 followers on Instagram, none of whom were interactive and only a tenth of which saw my content, and no one DID know that the project existed.
(I makes me wonder, too, what it would have been like if I'd told my mom what "Immortal Idiots" was about. If I'd told her the truth about Broken Dimensions outright, about the freedom and the queerness and the found family and the underlying references to all the mental health issues I was facing/still face today. If she knew that Fin and Ev were really gay now, that I wasn't pandering to the alt-right beliefs I grew up under anymore and saying Ev was a woman pretending to be a man (which can be a compelling story in some situations but was in fact just bigotry and BS in this one). If she knew WHY Ev is my favorite character, or why Fin is still one of my comfort OCs (they've both been controlled or silenced, they're both queer and have had to hide it, they're both images of what I wish I was in some way shape or form). To summarize: I wonder what would be different about me or the story or my career choice had my mother known what, exactly, was going on the whole time. What I was deliberately giving myself "exposure therapy" for and why I see reluctant to go back to church in-person (or at all), and that I don't go at all when I'm at university. I wonder how her approval/disproval would have affected me as a teenager, and now as an adult.
I just wonder so goddamn much.)
-
I've thought about all this a lot the past few days in relation to a botched one-on-one story and concept check-in with a professor. I came in unprepared to talk about a story I had switched to, and it all came out as CHAOS. Couldn't speak in a coherent explanatory sentence, had no thoughts whatsoever, essentially communicated to this poor confused man (I was crying by the end of this, god I'm so sorry mike) that I had no idea where this story-in-my-head was going.
Except that the problem was that simply hadn't given myself enough time to translate five years' worth of story compilation into an outline to base myself off of.
That's not related to the writer v artist issue, that's just anxiety and chronic procrastination. But it made me realize how strange it was to finally be talking about a story I've wanted to do for years. (And how unfamiliar I am with being allowed to talk about my stories in any real, VERBAL capacity.) And it led to this disjointed introspection about my experience as a writer, then an artist. And how I didn't make that distinction from "artist who writes" until 2022.

Here's what we'll miss when CCP closes in 2023.
Tumblr media
The Cultural Center of the Philippines, which has stood along Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City for 53 years to preserve and promote Filipino culture and arts, will close in January 2023 for a three-year renovation.
The CCP, designed by National Artist for Architecture, Leandro V. Locsin, houses three theaters, one audio-visual space with a changing exhibit lobby, hallways, and galleries. Great Filipino artists were honored with the names of each of these spaces.
The CCP Main Theater is named for Nicanor Abelardo, the father of Philippine Sonata. The Little Theater is named after Aurelio Tolentino, a Filipino playwright and revolutionary during Spanish and American colonization; the former Dream Theater, now the CCP Arthouse Cinema, is dedicated after National Artist for Film, Manuel Conde; and the Studio Theater is named after Huseng Batute, King of Balagtasan.
Tumblr media
The Main Gallery is dedicated after Juan Luna, while the Small Gallery is named after Fernando Amorsolo. The Little Theater Lobby, which is also a changing exhibit space, is named after Carlos "Botong Francisco, a National Artist for Visual Arts.
Vicente Manansala, a National Artist for Visual Arts, Guillermo Tolentino, known for works such as Oblation and Andres Bonifacio Shrine, and Victorio Edades, the Father of Filipino Modern art, were also honored with hallway names.
As it is home to a variety of permanent works of art, many of which were created by National Artists, such as Vicente Manansala's Tribute to the Seven Arts, Arturo Luz's  Black and White Painting and Paper Clip, Napoleon Abueva's Hilojan and Dancers, and Cesar Legaspi's Triptych, CCP might be considered as a museum.
There is no entrance fee when you visit CCP to explore on your own. You can, however, make a reservation with a tour guide for a more instructional trip.
These are just a few examples of what we can see and learn inside the institution. So, before it closes, come see the artworks and support Filipino culture.

What is Data May Never Die, w/ Scree
Hello friends! On today’s episode, we bring back the greatest of the great, the all-time champ of Raw Data Downloads, the DAX Demon himself, The Scree! I am sure you will recall His Un-Deadness, evil genius of the Undead Lords Guild from his record-setting, chart-topping, last appearance on our show where he shared the secrets of the inner workings of gaming guilds and data.
During this visit, Scree shares anecdotes of his data prowess harkening back to the early days of recreational internet and gaming guilds. He reminisces about his early days in the Breed group on Deviant Art where he honed his storytelling and visualization skills to better appreciate and integrate a visually appealing UX. Don’t worry, though, this episode doesn’t dwell in the past, the conversation also covers the genius behind data automation with Power BI and Power Query where Scree admirably points out that such automation is like adding an additional member to the team, basically equivocating the Power Platform as the business version of the industrial revolution. . . and he isn’t wrong.
Finally, Rob broaches the topic we have all been waiting for, the EVE online export to excel announcement that drove the gaming crowd nuts at the conference. With his insider knowledge of gaming guilds, online gaming, and “space corporations and alliances,” Scree handily explains the intricacies of data and spreadsheets for monetizing subscription hours on the platform. He hints that export to excel will level the playing field for the EVE online entities that didn’t have access to people with tech skills. Will this lead to alliance expansions or new factions on the playing field? Only time will tell.
All this and more on today’s episode of Raw Data by P3, where data meets the human element!

Tbh I never liked the donghua since the beginning. I could just never understand the changes they made that had nothing to do with CCP. I loathed how WWX came back as the YP because it was so different from the novel, same with how the gave the entirety of Phoenix Mountain to JYL and JZX when it was suppose to be a Wangxian scene. Like they still could have made it incompliance with CCP and made it a Wangxian scene. They ruined cave of xuanwu for me. Also I will never understand why the demonic arm got away from LWJ/ The Juniors. Having WWX exposed to resentful energy so early on made it feel like WWX would go down that path even if he didn't give up his GC which just isn't true.
With all that said, I still held out hope for season 3, but now I wish I didn't. I haven't watched it yet because I want it be completed before I made my judgment, but all these gifs and people talking about it make me lose all hope. The only good thing is the small Wangxian moments we get and the art style. I love seeing every adaptions of MDZS, but the donghua just makes me sad and every time I try to watch it, I need to read the novel immediately afterwards to feel better.
I just had to re-watch a few minutes of season 1 to find some screenshots for THIS and I got mad all over again. Like why is JingYI outright fighting Jin Ling?! The reunion between MXY/WWX and LWJ SUCKS (눈_눈). As you said there are some cute fanservicy scenes, but then the rest is ????? esp now that they're running out of time and shuffling really important scenes around. It's just about visuals at this point.
