basagan with the manananggal clan / getting wasted with the manananggal clan
Translations/explanations for non-Filo readers and some OC lore below the cut!
Translations for non-Filo readers:
Jango: Did you enjoy yourselves, you reprobates?!
Sab: Until next year! We are “Gabi ng Kasalanan!” Thank you FA! (Gabi ng Kasalanan means Night of Sin in English; “epey” is a Tagalized pronunciation of the letters F and A used by some students in UP College of Fine Arts)
“tabakero” means someone who makes cigar, and “komikero” means someone who makes comics.
Sab is singing lyrics from a Filipino song, “Oo” by Up Dharma Down.
gago - idiot, stupid person. In this context though, it’s used similarly how “asshole” is used.
Some OC lore:
Weng accompanies her mother to meetings, parties, and gatherings, since she’s the oldest and the heir to the throne. This extends to their dealings with other members of the criminal underworld. Sometimes she questions if her mother made the right decision to go against the Treses, and she absolutely hates the prince of aswangs, Dominic Villaceran, because of what he did to secure his alliance with her clan. When Dom was securing their alliance, the Reyna Manananggal asked for a human girl that they will turn into one of theirs to strengthen their numbers. Dom returned with a human girl... who turns out to be a bastard he fathered to some unfortunate human woman. That girl was her younger sister Sabina. Weng couldn’t trust anyone who would do that to their own flesh and blood. She keeps her opinions to herself and the people she trusts, though. Only her sisters know how she really feels, but she’s on the verge of telling their mother and queen a piece of her mind.
Weng’s social media handle is “mariarowena”. No funny or fancy names for her because she’s a businesswoman.
As someone who was trained to be the muscle of their operations, Sab never had love for her mother’s empire. She’s one of the few girls who survived training from hell. She knows how to use a rifle, and she’s the manananggal with the swiftest wings in her clan. The last mission she went on is to gather more girls to convert in an all girls school somewhere in Quezon City. She ends up befriending one of them and she begins to question what she really wants for herself. An incident happens involving a professor so she had to leave that school, then she decides to go straight and enroll in a nearby university. Sab manages to get in the Fine Arts course. Though she loves her sisters and still meets with them from time to time, she’s somewhat distant from them, and prefers the company of her bandmates Agnes (agnestiong), a fire elemental, Jango (aroundthefur97), a segben/sigbin, and Lukas (tabakerongkomikero). Their band is called “Gabi ng Kasalanan”.
Sab’s social media handle is “sabinasins”. No one can remember if their band name was inspired by her handle, or if her handle was inspired by their band name.
Out of all of them, Izzie is the most attached to her sisters. Reyna Manananggal/Momma-nanggal has a lot of matters to attend to, so Izzie’s formative years is filled with memories of her sisters raising her. She’s also closer to Sab because Weng is more busy, and occasionally, they play Eternos together. Whenever they get the chance to get together, Izzie loves showing off their night outs on her social media accounts, and the wilder, the better. This often happens at the expense of her siblings (I wonder who’s the gago who broke tough girl Sab’s heart? Hmm...) but they love her too much to scold her for putting their embarrassing moments on blast. Both Weng and Sab are protective of her despite their incessant squabbling, and this sometimes causes Izzie to lash out, because she thinks she’s being treated like a child.
Izzie’s social media handle is ggizzie, a pun on “GG EZ”.
