Random ask, who are your favorite romantic relationship's couples in any media, like anime/manga, tv series, books, etc (can be canon or non-canon)? Feel free if you want to write the reasons or not of why you love them....

I mean…how much time do you have?😏✨ In no particular order:

1) Zoro x Nami (One Piece)

I‘ve been in love with their dynamics from the very beginning: the navigator and the one with no orientation skill whatsoever. Orange and green. They bicker like an old married couple, but respect and trust each other blindly. It started out with Zoro protecting Nami from Buggy’s crew, her helping him out during fights but I fell head over heels for them once the Arlong Arc came around: he read her like a book and trusted her enough to make a point. That sealed the deal. Then he watched over her while she was ill and from there one I noticed how he always looks out for here, making sure she is safe🥺🧡 Just ✨They just make sense to me.

2) Damon x Elena (TVD)

I actually don’t recall when I started to ship them. It must have been slowly, just before the „fake“ kiss happened when Katherine came back, somewhere between their banter and low key flirting. I think I fell for this ship because of the factor Damon. Him being fiercely loyal and desperate to get Katherine back, only to realize she never loved him and then falling in love with his brother‘s girl. AGAIN. The tragedy and the tension whether Elena would fall for him too, made this so fun to watch. The final nail in the coffin was when he told her, he loved her but compelled her to forget. Oh, and of course the dance…

3) Sookie x Eric (Sookie Stackhouse Novels)

The moment Sookie laid eyes on Eric for the first time and him shamelessly flirting with her in front of Bill, I was a goner. Bill always gave me an ick feeling. I just never understood why Sookie was interested in him apart from the fact that she couldn’t hear his thoughts. In the books there was always a spark when Sookie and Eric met. I liked that Eric was down for anything as long as it involved Sookie (going undercover to an orgy for example), that he was always (brutally at times) honest with her, that he protected and cared for her no matter what. He respected her decisions. There were no silly games between them. As far as vampire feelings for humans go in this universe, I do think he loved her deeply. As for her: she loved him too but also knew that it would never end well. Such a sassy, sexy ship.

4) Captain Jack Sparrow x Elizabeth

One if my original all-time favourite ships. The sparrow and the swan. I liked their dynamics in CotBP but grew obsessed with them during DMC. Her being restricted by society’s expectations of her and him being the adventurous, clever pirate she had already read about. I mean pleeeeeaaase: the themes alone! She longs for freedom. He and his lifestyle are the definition of freedom. She has a fierce and untamed nature just like the sea. He is in love with the sea. I think Jack brings out her true self just like she brings out his. She matches his scheming talent but I always thought Elizabeth to be more ruthless than Jack. I don’t know what I expected but her ending up alone on an island, married and back in the corset was not it.

5) Hermione x Draco (Harry Potter)

Another one of my original ships. The muggle born and the son of an old wizard family, who hate muggle borns and are/were loyal to the Dark Lord. The drama, tension and potential storylines with this setup is off the charts. I think I fell for them once the 3rd movie came around. That slap and Hermione urging Hagrid to take Draco to the Madam Pomfrey was pure gold for my shipper heart. I started to get obsessed with them when I read the 4th book and they stumbled upon him during the world cup. I always and forever will read this scene as Draco warning them about the dangers of the Deatheaters disguised behind his typical insults. There were both lines in the movies as well as in the books that always made be believe that Draco might have had a crush on Hermione at some point. I was waiting for a redemption arc in the last book which never happened. I also always thought that Hermione needed a partner who matched her intellect to be truly fulfilled and who appreciated her Slytherin traits (cunning, ambition).

6) Sakura x Kakashi (Naruto)

So, this is a complicated one. He is 14 years her senior and her sensei. That is problematic. I didn’t ship them when she was a child. BUT: I liked the idea of them, if the circumstances were different (same age or time travel AU). Kakashi seemed to appreciate her intelligence and her talent for chakra control. He never made her feel weak and he always protected her the best he could. During Shippuden his reaction was always shown when Sakura suffered because of Sasuke. And Kakashi looked rather heart broken and sad for her. He watched over her and cared for her during the last battle. The incredulous (at times murdering) look he gave Sasuke when he mistreated Sakura was glorious. His whole mission was to make sure she survived. So, yeah, if the circumstances were different…also the hand on the cheek is canon🥺 Sakura deserved someone who appreciated her love and loyalty.

7) Claire x Jamie (Outlander)

What I liked about this couple right away (in stark contrast to Frank to whom Claire is married to) was their back and forth, the easiness with which they held conversations with each other and the pure fun they had while doing so. They played off each other without any hassle. Just two people with the same intellect, temper and the same humour hitting it of. This combined with the twist that Claire is the experienced one in all sexual and romantic matters while Jamie is the virgin was absolutely addictive. They just matched. The chemistry off everything that is considered holy.

6) Hannibal x Will Graham (Hannibal)

At first I enjoyed their strange friendship, which quickly turned into mutual respect. May it be due to the actors or how the scenes between them were written but the chemistry was wild right from the beginning. The classical seduction to the dark side trope with a twist: Will is actually just like Hannibal and fights against the urge to kill but actually understands killing. To him just like to Hannibal it makes sense to kill. It even is beautiful. That dynamic hooked me from day one. The back and forth of their ideals. I think Hannibal was rather quickly aware of his feelings for Will. The fact that Will at first rejected him and his whole being but in the end fell for him as well, was fascinating to watch. Just pure and raw.

8) Jaime x Brienne (A Song of Ice and Fire)

I love the tropes surrounding this couple: him, beautiful on the outside but ugly inside and her, ugly on the outside but the heart of a true knight inside. Beauty and the best. Their banter and clash of ideals is what attracted me to them (as well Jaime trying to get a reaction out of Brienne with his constant insults and borderline teasing). The way Jaime unknowingly started to grow a soft spot for the wench and slowly opened up to her, losing his hand (his identity as one of the best swordsmen) to protect her virtue all led to the best scene between them: the bath in Harrenhal. I fully shipped them afterwards. It‘s hard to imagine that Jaime had ever been this vulnerable with anyone but his brother before. He keeps on protecting her and she reminds him of his oaths. Just beautiful ✨

9) Buffy x Spike (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

I was so obsessed with them at some point in my life — it wasn’t healthy anymore. First because of the ridiculous sexy way Spike played around with Buffy as his next slayer to kill. He was cunning and dangerous. Later because of how loyal, funny and good he was even without a soul. Him being a hopeless, awkward romantic while Buffy was straight to the point was a fun dynamic. In the later seasons I felt sorry for him because of how he was used and treated by Buffy but at least he got to go out like a true hero.

10) Beth x Daryl (The Walking Dead)

This was an unexpected one. I liked Daryl as a character but Beth was just a girl in the background who cut her arms. They were pushed together for a few episodes and because their views on life and their experiences were so different, it created this interesting dynamic. Somehow they worked. Daryl helped her get stronger and Beth helped him with how to deal with his emotions. She was innocent. He was rugged and beaten down by life. There was something delicate between them that was never allowed to grow.

13) Rae x Finn (My Mad Fat Diary)

Just two nerds obsessed with Oasis and each other. Typical teenager drama. Because of her seize and her body and mental issues Rae doesn’t think she deserves Finn or that he is even interested in her. She convinces herself to the point that she gives her v-card to another guy around her body seize. Finn on the other hand has already decided that he likes Rae and is all cute and touchy with her. The cuteness of their relationship and Finn‘s straight forward „Idk what your problem is but I like you just the way you are“ endeared me to this couple. Also Rae is hilarious.

14) Asoka x Rex (The Clone Wars Series)

Another problematic ship due to her being his superior and him being (at least) physically older when they were first introduced to each other. I think it‘s the fact that Order 66 looms on the horizon and all the drama and heartbreak that comes with it, what got me into this ship. Asoka transforms from an insecure padawan who gets her squad killed into a formidable force user and along the way she earned Rex‘ respect. Plus I‘m a sucker for how fierce she gets every time Rex is in trouble/attacked. They protect and care for each other and if they weren’t Jedi and Clone I could totally see them as a power couple.

A big thank you

Prelude: I never wanted to watch Game of Thrones. I never planned to invest in any of the characters from the show, and I had zero interest in the story. Some years ago, I was a devoted Once Upon a Time (ABC) fan. I enthusiastically watched every episode, and I belonged to a fandom for the first time in my life. It was an eye-opening experience, and then my newfound shipper heart grew tenfold with Captain Swan, the pairing between Emma (main character) and Killian (Captain Hook). We only hoped at first they would become a couple, and then our greatest dream eventually came true: they were a canon ship. I was so proud and thrilled. I never dreamed I could write anything longer than a short story, but here I was, penning over 500,000 words of fanfic for them. They were a shining light guiding me through storytelling, and I will never forget that they inspired me to write novel-length fics.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end. The fire died out. I had 3 unfinished fics left. And my original writing - the novels I wanted to create myself, apart from fanfic - was in shambles. My writing spark was disappearing. At some point these past several years, I wondered if I was actually meant to be a writer at all, or if I was just fooling myself. Was it all just a happy coincidence? My writer's block grew. I haven't written anything for the past 2 years.

Suddenly and quite unexpectedly, Jorah and Daenerys from Game of Thrones appeared in my YouTube recommendations just a few weeks ago. Only them, mind you. Maybe the algorithm had somehow figured out my previous obsession with Anastasia and Iskender from Magnificent Century: Kosem, a Turkish TV show with a doomed, unrequited love between a knight and the girl who would someday become his queen (beautiful score, by the way). Or maybe it wasn't that at all. My interest was piqued. Who was Jorah, and why was he so loyal to Daenerys? Loyalty intrigues me. It's one of the traits I treasure most in characters, so of course I went "down the rabbit hole" and found out everything there was to know about Jorah's relationship with Daenerys. Of course it had to be unrequited. Of course it never became canon. But I love it. It's a wonderful story of devotion, growth, caring. I get that people saw the age difference as an obstacle, but I think that Jorah's love was so rare in this world of selfish desires. It was refreshing - and very romantic. Cynic though I am in reality, I am at heart a romantic, and I always will be.

Continuing from YouTube and whatever I could glean, I found myself looking here on Tumblr for gifsets, fanfiction...and I visited AO3 after a prolonged absence to find every Jorleesi fanfic in existence. I laughed and smiled like I hadn't in such a long time.

Anyway, I'm so sorry to put this in the tags when I have nothing to offer but my sincere thanks. Thank you to all of you who love this ship. You helped a weary would-be writer get back on her feet and start typing again. Bless you! 💖 I'm so happy to be part of this lovely fandom.

is it just me or are there other captain swan shippers who just suddenly remember the horrors that series 5 launched upon us because let me tell you now i do. it is 3:19 am & i saw a really beautiful gif set of captain swan, one of my favourite ships from when i was a teen & honestly even though i will always love them & ouat i haven't really thought about either for a long time & yet at this moment in time i find myself thinking about how killian was killed horrifically, the devastation from emma who literally embraced the dark magic just so that he would live & not remember what she'd done & what he'd become, how she had to literally run him through with the sword, lay on the grass holding his dead form, be pulled away from his dead form. one of my favourite cartoon villains is hades & i couldn't enjoy ANY of that because then killian was being tortured, he didn't think they should save him & THEN it seemed like there was nothing they could do for him so emma had to leave him behind literally held onto his hand in that lift until they could no longer do that. i remember crying my eyes out watching all of this for the first time when it aired at ungodly times in the morning because of time differences, live streaming it on my phone under the covers because i had to be up for school the next morning. i genuinely don't think i've ever really recovered from it considering the flashbacks to those horrors i got just from looking at a gif from one of those episodes. seriously what even was that? i know it all worked out in the end but bloody hell 15/16 year old me was traumatised.

i stay in your inbox but whatever lol. this is NEW a blog post claiming emma marrying hook was symbolic because she was marrying her SELF with hook representing all the past and ugly scars and the abusive men in her life and her dress turning black representing hook killing her grandfather and what not (that being the black fairies fault....) and since they didn't share TLK zelena and regina can represent the mental and physical recovery she can be on..IS IT EVER THAT SERIOUS, can't we have fun?

I like the fact that you practically live in my inbox! It keeps things new and exciting. Especially when you deliver new "What the hell did that Regina Apologist just say" material because HOT DAMN what the hell is that!???

The Regina Apologist and subsequent SwanQueen shipper really do watch the show with special goggles on. Because that makes absolute zero sense.

How are two evil sisters representing Emma's healing? Regina has done nothing for 6 seasons but belittle Emma and tear down her skills as the savior and as a sheriff. And Zelena means nothing to Emma. Zelena and Regina are quite toxic together, actually, and neither one of them have their shit together. Both have their own emotional baggage.

So they think Emma wanted to marry her scars? That makes no sense. Especially since Hook is not a representation of Emma or her past romances. He is actually a representation of her healing because it was Hook that broke down her walls, Hook that showed her the future was nothing to fear and it was Hook that allowed her to heal and find love again. He is nothing like Neal who always put her down. Regina is more like Neal in the sense that Regina doesn't believe in Emma either. And, as you pointed out, the dress turns black because of the Black Fairy. The symbolism there is that the Black Fairy wants to squash out the good and turn it evil. It has nothing to do with Emma and Hook's relationship.

That fandom seriously does reach for any absurdity they can to discredit Captain Swan and lift up Regina.

Oh I almost forgot! The fact that Emma and Killian never shared a True Love's Kiss is so irrelevant. The TLK started to be handed out like candy. I am glad they didn't get one because they got something better. They got two unique true love confirmations and the fact that they've transcended realms. The show showed us more of why and how they are true love than with any other couple aside from Snowing who also transcended realms.

Welcome to CSSNS 2023 @caught-in-the-filter !

How long have you been in the CS/OUAT fandom?

I’ve been on tumblr since summer 2014 but I don’t think I really got involved in fandom until maybe 2015-2016? I have zero concept of time lol.

When did you start shipping Captain Swan?

To be quite honest, I don’t remember what specific moment in the show got me officially on board with CS. I thought they were interesting together since Killian’s introduction, but I don’t know what made me really start wanting them to be more. I shipped Emma with happiness, whether that meant Killian or Neal or someone else or no one, but when they began showing signs of being mutually interested in and good for each other in canon, I started to fall in love with their love. Joining tumblr and being captivated by all the fan content absolutely fueled the shipper in me to become more invested in them though, and now they’ve completely taken over my life. I even named my cat Killian, so….

What drew you to this event?

I've loved this event since the first year. It had me at Captain Swan, it had me at supernatural, and it definitely had me at combining the two. I love seeing all the cool ideas everyone comes up with for this event. There's sooooo much creativity in this fandom!! I love it all, and I love being able to participate in it too.

What inspired your topic?

Right. My topic. The topic which I have chosen. The topic for the thing I’m making. My topic I have chosen specifically for the thing I’m making. … That topic? I definitely have one, yep.

Soo, I found you when I was reading through Makorra reddit posts, and I must say wow. Your research, the interactions you spotted, I have not seen something that could rival the things Korrasami shippers posted. Also may I ask why Makorra is your fav ship?? Os it too late to ask? Also what do you think of a Makorrasami ship?

I kept this in my ask box for a long time, debating on whether or not I was willing to answer it. It's nothing against you, it's just that I've been....out of the LOK fandom for a long time and don't have particularly fond memories of my time there. The finale fallout was my first true long-term fandom drama and it kind of soured my ability to engage with the show the way I used to. But I'm willing to answer at least part of your ask because I think I've finally gained enough time, space, and emotional distance to answer without any lingering bitterness. The answer for why I liked Makorra largely boils down to two reasons: I really loved how they both pushed each other to grow, and they're a friends-to-lovers bickering Battle Couple who would die and kill for each other if necessary.

It's no secret to anyone who's followed me for more than a month or so that I'm a sucker for that particular ship dynamic. It's the same dynamic that underpins a lot of the ships I like (from Percabeth to Royai to Kanej to Luke/Mara to Deckerstar to Captain Swan to Spitfire to...several others), and Mako and Korra fall squarely inside it. I think it's an extremely fun ship dynamic that combines the solid fundamental baseline of "we have shared interests and enjoy spending time together," fun and flirty romantic vibes, and the Knowledge™ of each other that comes from knowing how to fight seamlessly beside each other.

I also really enjoyed how, as characters, they were always pushing each other to think beyond their "duties" and examine whether they could be happy as individuals who deserved to have personal lives. Mako spent his entire childhood and adolescence caring for Bolin and making sure that they were both fed and had a roof over their heads; and while Korra was sheltered, she largely defined her worth as what she could do for other people as the Avatar. Neither of them were given much of a chance for personal exploration outside of their respective roles and duties until they met each other, and I think they were instrumental in helping each other grow in that respect. Mako always treated Korra like she was a person before he treated her as "the Avatar," and knowing Korra allowed Mako to explore who he was outside of "Bolin's driven older brother" and "pro-bending champion."

So knowing each other (whether they were friends or dating) helped them form a more complete understanding of themselves. They both have strong morals and opinions, and even when they clashed it was apparent that they deeply respected each other and wanted the best for them...which I really loved. There's several other reasons, but those are the main two.

Random AU's for legend of korra ships but it's only movies i was obsessed with as a child:

(Korrasami, Makorra, Masami, Irohsami, Weilin, Kainora, Bopal)

Korrasami:

Beauty and the beast- brave and beautiful daughter of an inventor? And Korra would be a good beast. She gives off furry vibes and has anger issues.

Hercules- ive seen this one a couple times. It fits so well!

Makorra:

The swan princess -Mako has enough social ineptitude to offend a woman in five syllables or less. Korra will wreak havoc as a swan tho. Have you ever been pecked by a swan? They have serrated beaks. Serrated beaks!

Rapunzel- magical girl isolated from the world and insecure boy with ties to crime? Excellent. Make her hair turn silvery blue like healing water.

Masami:

Hunchback of Notre Dame- but Asami is Phoebus and Mako is Esmeralda because fuck gender norms. I imagine in this AU Hiroshi is the Frollo and is hunting down benders or smth. Bolin can be the goat.

Aladdin- hot independent princess and street rat boy. Need I say more? Let Korra be the genie.

Irohsami:

Mulan- good luck disguising yourself as a twink, Asami. Iroh bouta go through a crisis of sexuality.

Treasure Planet- briliant yet inexperienced dr Asami Sato is on an expedition to discover the lost Treasure of captain Flint onboard a ship commanded by the extremely capable captain Iroh. [ catgirl Iroh catgirl Iroh]

Weilin:

Anastasia- Due to an uprising the Beifongs, who are either royalty or nobles in this AU, i haven't yet decided have to flee their home. But an eight year old Wei doesn't make it and after sustaining a head injury, forgets who he is. Mako and Bolin are conmen (which is sorta in line with canon, they did scams as kids) and are trying to find someone to pose as the lost prince in order to collect the reward money the royal family offers for his return. (Though i might make Varrick take the tole of Vlad) They find Wei and he seems perfect for the job. (Haven't yet decided who is gonna be Rasputin. Aiwei maybe?)

Atlantis- Bolin and a group of other adventurers travel to the lost city of Zaofu, where the Beifong family live and Wei becomes very interested in the outsider. [Hnnn i need to draw the 'you do swim, do you not?' Scene with them]

Kainora:

Peter pan - Jinora and her siblings travel to Neverland with Kai and have child friendly adventures complete with puppy love. Good for them.

Bopal( im sorry bopal shippers, but i like despise this ship so not much for them. I did my best tho):

Wild Swans (from Mikhail Baryshnikow's 'Stories from my childhood') - As a result of an evil witch's spell, Opal's brothers ( and heck, toss Kuvira in there too) are turned into swans and their parents forget the existence of their children. Opal takes on the arduous task of shirts out of stinging nettles for them, while maintaining a vow of silence, the only way to break the spell. While her siblings are away, Opal is found by prince Bolin. Due to the fact that she needs to remain silent to break the spell, she is unable to explain the situation, so Bolin takes her back to his castle and they fall in love. But soon people start to suspect Opal of witchcraft. (The prince is super goofy in that movie and also preforms an opera ballad for the princess and i can see bolin standing under Opal's window singing : WHERE IS YOUR HEART?)

why do you support captain charming at all if you view hook’s actions as sexual harassment???

It all comes down to the fact that the way I interact with captain charming is in the most heavily fanon way possible, my interpretation of Hook is not the same Hook as depicted in canon in any way shape or form.

Second of all, the way Hook ‘flirts’ (obviously meant to just be banter by the writers) with David doesn’t seem directly unwanted or unreciprocated to me. Emma and Snow tell him to stop multiple times, while people like Regina kind of have apathy to the whole thing and David’s reactions read more to me as him being flustered because he’s being flirted with by a man for the first time. I view is reactions more as a complicated disgust with himself because he’s letting a man and pirate flirt with him and he isn’t mad about it, but oh god he should be mad and what would everyone else think if they knew. obviously that’s very heavily fanon, but that’s my personal interpretation of how David would react to actual flirting if Hook was the one doing it.

Killian is such an odd character because I sometimes forget that he is the way he is in canon, because the Hook I write in fics and depict in edits isn’t the same person, which is common in just about every fandom space. Honestly I think Hook is the only character I don’t get mad about the mischaracterisation of, because god is he a mess.

I also think that him being with David actually gives him way more of a chance to change and grow from that. From the start, David has put his foot down about that kind of stuff. One of their first interactions is David literally physically attacking him because he flirted with Snow, and the entire time they’re on Neverland he doesn’t stop berating him for how weird his behaviour towards women is.

This means that David would never be with Hook in any way shape or form, unless Hook changed that and he stopped doing it. David’s strong morals are good for Killian in my opinion, because he can do nothing but become the best person he can under his influence.

Hook getting with Emma is annoying because, as i said, it feels like he’s being rewarded for his incessant flirting that she says she doesn’t like (even if she changed he mind on this, Killian can’t be sure she has). He gets the girl in the end, which makes me angry because it’s not like one of those stories where he stopped and THEN she realised she loves him, because throughout the whole s3 finale he’s still flirting and commenting on her body.

The fact that Hook actually hates David, unlike the way he’s always liked Emma, means almost all of his flirting is left unspoken because of both his anger towards him and the fact David’s in active danger throughout the whole neverland arc and they’re barely speaking in 3b. Killian is put in a position where flirting is very hard, which means he doesn’t do very much of it (and if we’re going with canon, he does none of it).

So, in Hook’s mind, when he does get with David, he doesn’t associate ‘getting the guy’ with harassment and flirting, but rather with heroic acts like saving David from dreamshade. The way I view it, that means the toxic cycle of behaviour probably won’t continue, and if it does, David would have a stern talk about it because he’s not letting Hook be that man again.

Obviously, captain charming has not and never will be canon, but this is just how i view it.

Also, I have no problem with cs shippers! Just want to clear that up, what I said is more of a problem with Killian’s development, rather than his actual relationship. Captain Swan isn’t a bad ship, but Hook is definitely a bad character, which sours the ship as a whole in my opinion. (I only tagged it as anti captain swan because I didn’t want captain swan shippers to have that clogging up their tag)
