only halfway thru the new frieren episode i was almost tearing up because the theme of protecting each other and caring about life more importantly than winning is so poignant. not all the characters are human in species but once again the humanity is blossoming in frieren's story. i was so afraid they'd actually get killed last ep but i mean it's so funny now what was i even thinking. this is frieren. they won't kill unless it was really necessary.

the reveal that richter raised the platform not to make his fight with lawline and kanne easier but actually to protect them from denken's attacks was so good. the "magic is nothing if you cannot imagine it" line is so wonderful because i'm a big fan of magic systems that revolve around that logical "science-y" aspect of like. understanding how it will work in order to do it. (same reason why i love the magic in "world's greatest assassin".) laufen getting caught by frieren even though she knows it's a trap just bc she didn't want denken to get hurt was also so good. the reveal that denken didn't have a grander motive to be a first class mage beyond "i wanna go back to my hometown and visit the cementary there but only first class mages are allowed to enter" was so painfully human and so reflective of real life. it also strikes you because he was introduced as a high-profile, politically influential mage.

i love what denken says about not going out without a fight. i love that the episode ends in a fistfight for him. i love it when media uses fistfights and punching in such an emotionally-charged human way, beyond the violence, instead depicting it as some sort of catharsis really. because sometimes all you need is a good rough n tumble. in denken's case, it's his way of not giving up without a fight. i like that. i also like that this was foreshadowed by denken telling laufen to cut the tree down instead of trying to cut the restraint. "we don't have any mana" "neither do they". sometimes all it takes is to find a differently way to approach your problems and sometimes the solution is simpler than you think.

i'm a big fan of frieren breaking the barrier because she thought it was unfair to cut kanna (and by extension lawline) out of her source of magic, giving her an unfair disadvantage and honestly a handicap. it's a short part of the episode but it's so important, because it shows that if people are given the right tools and the accessibility, they can do for themselves what they want and need to do. i love that frieren is like "can you imagine winning against a water manipulating mage with water around? i can't."

i'm a fan of how the "basic" combat and defensive magic are depicted and treated as in this show. yes, people more on from traditions, but traditions are there in the first place. richter's explanation of magic history in their world provides an insight to how modern magic evolved from the foundations. but the foundations were still foundations for a reason. they made it a point with fern saying "frieren doesn't restrict me from spells" (even tho it was the setup for a small joke) that the point isn't to pick a side between tradition vs modern, but rather to learn from both and decide for yourself what you want to apply to yourself. the depiction of fern and frieren winning with traditional magic and richter and kanne overwhelming each other with modern magic makes it clear that the show isn't trying to preach to either side.

i also like the theme of "pursuing magic out for the sake of magic is enough". it's nice to hear that denken shares this mindset with frieren, because again he was introduced as someone influential and you'd think he thinks like he could use magic as a source of power. and that's the impression i got of him too from previous episodes, but a lot of first impressions of mine were proven wrong later and i'm so happy for that bc these characters have so much depth packed into them in so little time.

so confused how people see Az as an entitled fuckboi but still ship him with their beloved Gwyn when:

1. This man pined over Mor for 500 YEARS. Not days, hours - YEARS. He is 540 and pined over Mor for 500 of those??? Insane.

2. The reason he moved on from Mor was Elain - this is not debatable, that is canon text. Cassian (you know, lord of bloodshed, the MOST reliable narrator, Velaris fashion police) even notes Az has moved on. Nesta knows WHY Az has moved on. Az clearly shows he is at the very least, attracted to elain (obsessed, head over wings, but potato potahto I guess)

3. This man was tortured by his family. He does not have good self esteem. He already thinks his position as spymaster/lead torturer is bad, he is ashamed of his own hands and struggles with feeling worthy on a GOOD DAY. He knows it’s wrong to have feelings for Elain (bc she has a mate and he was ordered to stay away from her) but HE STILL HAS them. He can’t help it, he loves her?? Is that not the most heart wrenching thing youve heard?? How is he entitled when man himself doesn’t feel worthy of even touching her NECK???

Like how can you read that bonus chapter and say “yeah Az is an incel he is a fuckboi only lusting after elain” like this dude is clearly torturing himself with the feelings he has for her ?? How is he only after sex?? Do we want to whip out Cassian & Rhys’s POVs about their mates? The same thoughts.

It boggles my mind, truly, to attempt to understand gwynriel. elucien - I don’t ship but I do understand. They have been declared mates…that’s about all they have but at least that is there.

How can they be out here saying Az is evil incel fuckboi but then ship him with Gwyn… a priestess that was SA-ed and going on her own healing journey?? It makes no sense.

“Oh but elain needs light and azriel is just darkness she won’t be able to understand him” idk seems like it’s been said multiple times they understand each other without a single word.

“Elain can’t handle his darkness, Gwyn will heal him” … heal him how exactly? Through her laughter and song and pliable bones? Like she is not a therapist. She is bad with secrets (canonically). She can’t even leave the library. So what makes HER capable of handling “azriels darkness” like ?? What is she going to do someone please genuinely tell me? I would ask a gwynriel but they will get angry and tell me I’m a monster against SA victims or some bs.

Also what the actual hell is this so called “azriel’s darkness”?? Why we doing this “I can fix him” mentality in 2024? Sure man has got self image insecurity issues but it’s something HE has to fix … himself…

All I ever see from gwynriels is the craziest shit they are trying to pass off as theory because they literally hate elain!!? They ship elucien… only so it gets elain away from NC

They send her to spring court to be with tamlin and the flowers. They send her to day court to be with sunlight(? Even tho the night court has… sun…?)

They say she will turn evil. They say it’s only lust between them. They say she looks bad in black (this girl is described as having beauty to bring kings to their knees… I don’t think people care that she allegedly cannot pull off black)

They hate elain because elain is beautiful and kind and sweet and NOT a warrior and they don’t connect with her. And the loooooove azriel bc honestly a man who doesn’t say anything is just easier to shape to someone’s own fantasies. And they looove Gwyn because she is pretty enough (not devastating beauty) and vague enough that they can self insert.

And elain is also still a character in development. But the few things we know about her were apparently dammning enough that they have written her off completely.

But the fact is she’s the only character relevant enough and has shown an interest in azriel that is reciprocated. So why are we even fighting still? It’s been over since SJM wrote “death and the lovely fawn” even after she made her mated to Lucien.

He is only an incel fuckboi when it comes to Elain though. It's never with anyone else. With Gwyn he is a gallant hero.

Yeah, I never understood what qualifications Gwyn possesses to 'heal Azriel's trauma' especially considering her extremely, EXTREMELY limited life experience. She is 28, acting like she is 13, because she's lived in a closed environment all her life, had her basic chores, but everything was taken care of for her. Then she moved to the Library, where she is in the same situation. Not denying *her* trauma, but she barely dealt with it herself, and until Nesta, didn't do a very good job at it either. She only just began functioning, though still unable to join society and doesn't want to leave the Library. Even to go to a wedding! And this is the person they think is going to 'heal' Azriel's darkness? Can 500 year old 'darkness' even be healed? I feel like Azriel is what he is and I don't think there is much 'healing' that's going to happen. He is essentially Lorcan--he'd thaw for his girl, he'll be friends with Cassian and Nesta, and that's pretty much it. And the girl who'll accept him, who already accepted him is Elain.

Also, GA girlies need to remember that it's not a woman's job to 'fix' a guy and his 'darkness'. It's Azriel's responsibility, if he so desires.

Will never hear an Elriel talking about Elain 'healing Azriel's darkness'. Homeboy better take care of that himself because there is Dusk Court shit to take care of.

And to witness Pocket have her own family that’s not with him, or for pocket to terminate the child and tell Bucky that it’s disgusting and painful to think that a piece of him is inside her and would live in this world. I really don’t care if it’s harsh. He deserves every ounce of pain from this day on.

Also, I know you’ve been getting all sorts of anon asks and most of them are angry. Please remind yourself that all these are not for you. These are for Bucky and/or Jade. Try to not let them get into your head pls, we treasure u just as much as pocket.

It's so rough, because everyone is so rightfully mad at Bucky, and I totally get and support that, but at the same time, I'm like "But I love him, your honor!" Like, I know what's going through his head (cause I put those thoughts there, duh), and I want to scream "THIS IS WHAT HE IS THINKING WHEN HE DOES XYZ!" but I cannot, because that will spoil everything, lol. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mergwenthur beginnings from Merlin‘s pov bc he has the potential to make all of this SO angsty mmm

Like think abt Merlin feeling like he imposed on Arthur & Gwen's relationship simply bc he thinks the 2 are perfect (Merlin is obv so gone for them) & therefore perfect for each other but without him mixed into it bc „he doesn’t have a place there in their relationship“

Or him already feeling insecure abt a potential position in a 3-way-relationship bc of the whole thing with Lancelot’s shade & probably thinks Arthur would therefore react badly or hurt

Or maybe throw in a magic reveal where Guinevere & Arthur are both shocked at first ofc & Gwen gets over that & is all reasonable/starting to understand & Arthur is still blown away/angry & just can’t understand so maybe Merlin sees their different opinions on the magic matter & thinks he’s or at least will soon be tearing a rift between Arwen through that

Or maybe him not feeling good enough for them since not only is Arthur the king but Gwen as his queen has ALSO risen in rank & is now „above“ him as well (tho I think this is a bit ooc for Merlin)

Or to try & keep Arthur away from him/not tempt himself (bc Merlin still has to hide his magic& therefore cannot get too close to anyone) Merlin pushes Gwen & Arthur together with effort & he thinks he’s left alone & that both of them will/can never know how much he loves them or know who he really is. Then Arwen ask why he wants them to be together SO BAD since the 2 don’t really ever want to spent time together without Merlin (bc they’re all in love your honor) & Merlin just explodes with a whole speech like because if you two don’t end up together all of the pain & the suffering I have gone through while having to watch from far away was worth for nothing & then Gwen thinks Merls were in love only with Arthur & Arthur thinks Merlin were only in love with Gwen & then they are all being stupid & sad abt that whole love triangle till it comes out that Merlin loves them BOTH at the end

Or ofc the Lancelot-Gwen-Arthur fiasco, but where Merlin & Gwen get enchanted by Morgana instead & they’re all super angsty abt this (there’s the fic, it’s great: https://archiveofourown.org/works/46578598 by @burglarhobbit)

While reading this fic the idea came to me that maybe Merlin takes the blame for Morgana’s love spell volunteeringly so that Arthur doesn’t get hurt by thinking Gwen cheated of her own free will & takes her back, but Gwen (the goddess that she is) straight up tells Arthur no, Merlin wouldn’t ever do that, it must’ve somehow been Morgana & they ask Merlin why he lied & his answer is I just wanted you two to be happy but then followed with I guess that I’m just selfish for wanting you two to love me as well, that would have been to good to be true anyways

Or Arthur seeing Gwen & Merlin hug like they used to do all the time in the show bc they’re best friends & always help each other through their hard stuff, so cue Arthur having his big bi panic & while still being a bit traumatised by the whole Lancelot’s shade-fiasco, he mistakes his romantic feelings for them as jealousy/insecurity/fear of Gwen leaving him for Merlin & saying smth like „you wouldn’t take her from me would you?“ to Merlin (maybe even just as a dumb joke without all those negative feelings) & Merlin being all surprised no ofc i wouldn’t do that, not to you Arthur, to neither of you, you mean too much to me to do that & being scared that he somehow crossed a line while talking to Gwen or smth to warrant this kind of question from Arthur

Or Merlin thinking: You already have to take care of Arthurs destiny (protecting him, be loyal to him, make him see magic is good without outing himself as a sorcerer etc.) you can’t also take his heart/feelings aswell. You can’t do that to Gwen.Arthur is already forced to spend forever with Merls due to destiny, let him choose Gwen on his own free will, so that means Merlin thinking his connection to Arthur is less important that Gwen’s connection to Arthur bc of destiny

Or Gwen & Arthur together trying to court him & invite him into their throuple so they kiss him on separate occasions without the other one present & Merlin is just alone walking with Gwen through the halls of Camelot & reeling with why did she just kiss me isn’t she in love with Arthur?? & Arthur then also kissing him or giving him gifts & he’s starting to catch on/hope that they might return his feelings but then he overhears Gwen telling Arthur that he (Arthur) is her everything (bc Arthur is emotionally constipated & needs reassurance & affection like he deserves), so Merls tries to gaslight himself à la oh those kisses where just friendly, friends kiss each other sometimes don’t they??? Gwen probably just missed me that 1 time/wanted to reassure me of something & Arthur was probably still high of of a particularly good fight during training OR he thinks maybe they were just playing a joke on him OR he assumes he’s just their mistress/playtoy now & therefore are his connections to them second to their marriage connection OR even angstier, he thinks they’re both cheating on each other with him & don’t know abt it & he fears they have problems in their relationship & is plagued by guilt bc he doesn’t know how to tell them that they’re kind of cheating with the same person (lol) & anytime he looks at them he asks himself how do I tell you that your wife is cheating on you with me, but I’m actually in love with the BOTH of you? Arthur surely won’t believe that for a second, he’ll just be rly angry

OR the 3 of them already being an item but like still in the beginnings & then the magic reveal happens & Arthur is just like you didn’t enchant us to fall in love with you right? (don’t worry, Arthur isn’t that bigoted, he’s just surprised that he feels so much love for not 1 BUT 2 whole wonderful ppl & starts to doubt bc he’s constipated like that) & Merlin says no, I wouldn’t do that, I don’t even know how to do a spell like that, but then comes the rocky acceptance-of-Merlin’s-magic-phase where everything including their budding relationship gets difficult & Merlin is doubting with thoughts like they don’t seem very in love with me anymore so maybe I DID put a love spell on them without knowing? Maybe I wanted them to love me so much so that my magic/I just enchanted them subconsciously??? Maybe all we had, all that THEY felt for me was a lie & I have been using them for my own personal gain?? And he’s just beating himself up over that in a puddle of guilt & heartbreak

one other thing i have been absolutely dying to address: THE ROOKIE WINTER FINALE

if u haven't seen it and want to, don't look below the cut bc SPOILERS

hi. hello. fuck.

okay first a bit of backtracking: it really took ashley tim's back surgery to realize that they weren't gonna work? not the whole "my coworker knows my boyfriend better than i do" thing? or all of the other obvious things like how she's a lifeguard and he hates the beach?? no??

also super fucked of her to dump him literally as soon as he woke up after a potentially life-altering surgery but that was a given i guess...

ANYWAY TO THE GOOD STUFF

so it's been super obvious for these first 7 episodes prior to the finale that tim and lucy's relationship has changed quite a bit since the whole undercover op thing but girl i did NOT expect this so soon

okay so in these last two episodes, what the hell made chris think he and lucy should buy a HOUSE together? like sure he was thinking about tamara too, which is sweet because it shows that he really cares about lucy and her relationship with tamara. but also he was super pushy about the whole house thing in the first place. like he kept calling her about it while she was at work after she asked if they could talk about it later that night?

and also, he surely saw the news where she literally witnessed a woman get blown up, so why did he think it was okay to call her to push the whole "buying a house together" thing on her AGAIN, and without mentioning the case at all? and how was he not noticing how cold and closed off she was being? if anyone i care about was acting like that toward me, i wouldn't just brush it off like that, but maybe that's just me??

then ofc there's the whole tim getting fucking whiplash from how fast he turned his head to ask about lucy moving in with chris. the communication between those two in those episodes was absolutely incredible, especially in episode 8 like god damn. he showed just how much he cares for her in the way he was trying so hard to be there for her. like was he probably going tf through it bc he had to ask her if she loved someone else? yeah.

and omg when she said "he's just not" and looked at tim like GIRL turn this car around and find chris so u can break this off immediately bc EVERYONE knows who you want 🤦🏻‍♀️

side note but sgt. grey and aaron were mvps in that episode, pushing those two together.

anyway, the communication was impeccable, and i CANNOT BELIEVE TIMOTHY FINALLY STARTED MAKING SOME DAMN MOVES OF HIS OWN like holy shittt mr. rule-follower wants to risk it all to be with her?? and she was the one who was like "idk if its worth the risk"??? role reversal fr. but no they're so cute, all confessing their feelings for each other

LIKE THE MF SMILE ON HIS FACE WHEN SHE SAID YES TO DINNER

i do not condone cheating of any kind and emotional cheating is tricky and a slippery slope, but i do respect lucy for wanting to properly end things with chris before going out with tim (ofc)

but they were all sweet and smiley and cute and the writers and directors know exactly what they were doing ending the episode with that scene.

After the Battle of Magix Brandon is very reluctant to leave Riven after the whole jumping off of a building after learning his first real relationship was a lie with extenuating monster circumstances, and the hatred and resentment Brandon KNOWS most of the other specialists are feeling after seeing Riven and Darcy but he literally has to go because of his job but he is NOT happy about it

Riven stays on Magix after the battle, primarily because there would be nothing worse than talking to his family after all of that, and Brandon sends him good morning texts even though they're in different planetary timezones

I think Brandon would be an amazing texter, he talks about his day, responds regularly and consistently, and that also makes the Darcy reveal easier on Riven

Musa is all up in their business like you cannot imagine. Musa only goes home to Melody for a little bit during the summer before going back to Alfea (she managed to convince her dad it's cheaper and she can get some community service) and whenever she sees Riven she's all like "ooooo what did Brandon send you??" Like at least a solid half of Riven's texts back to Brandon are co written by Musa and it's so obvious neither of them know what their doing

It's okay tho bc Brandon thinks it's adorable and is so happy that Riven is making friends that aren't him. Like half way though summer he starts including things for Musa because he's well aware she's reading all of their texts

Eventually Helia comes back to RF and accidentally runs into Musa who has Riven with her and they chat a bit. Like they're not close and neither Musa or Riven think to mention it to Brandon but Helia has already decided when school starts again he's going to personally protect Riven from anyone who tries to bully him

I can't believe that Brandon is Sky's only body guard in their age group, like if Eraklyon has child soldiers there's probably more than one, so Adrian is trying to figure out who the fuck Brandon is texting and why Sky is bitching about it and Brandon is making a game out of playing keep away

Please note that this entire time Sky is like "dear god Brandon out of everyone on Magix, why him????". Poor guy is like pre exhausted of this entire situation. He's happy for Brandon he promises, but also he's dying. "Why him? Why that one? You could date anyone who likes men and you picked that one. Brandon why?" He is not doing good

When school starts again Riven is all like "hi...<3?" And Brandon thinks it's cute that is ALL

Then Helia and Brandon mert and make eye contact with each other from across the room

Helia: Well Riven doesn't have parents that I respect so you have to impress me and Saladin instead

Musa: me too

Helia: Musa too

Brandon: you literally only met Riven over the summer

Helia: irrelevant, what are your intentions with my son

Brandon: I appreciate that someone is looking out for Riven but MOVE

This gets worse after Helia and Flora start dating, what are your intentions with their son?? Sky is having an aneurysm in the other room. It's fine, everything is fine

Bonus points is Stella giving Riven shovel talk both before they break for summer and after they get back just to make sure it sinks in, no one knows she did this because Riven is too scared of her to snitch. I just need to let you know it happened

Brandon's coworkers also take a looksie at Riven but they're trained spys so it's more stalking over shovel talk. Riven brushes it off as him being paranoid but Brandon definitely notices and gently tells them off. Normal child soldier behavior over here

Sky wants to give the shovel talk but Brandon looks at him with the neutral look of displeasure whenever he even mentions it

(Riven is kinda in tears about how much Musa, Helia, and Flora care about him. He just got something in his eye, it's okay, everything is okay)

Riven doesn't try to set Musa up with Jared bc she has a thing for Aisha, but does accidentally talk her up to Jared in a way that sounds like it and doesn't realize until Brandon tells him how Jared is likely gonna take it and Riven immediately starts sending Musa apology texts

Musa and Aisha get together and Riven spends an hour trying to figure out what the fuck Musa's texts mean

Riven is not pouting that his best friend's girlfriend dislikes his boyfriend, he is not bothered by that at all, he is a bastion of composure (it makes him just a little sad)

Brandon watching the mess that is Sky trying to introduce Bloom to his parents and Erendor and Samara intentionally letting Diaspro stay kidnapped to make Sky save her: I am so never even breathing a word about my boyfriend in this palace

Riven getting two texts at 3am. One from Musa with a selfie of her beaten up with the caption "kicked Stormy's ass let's go!!!" And one from Flora asking Riven if Brandon ever mentioned his time being held hostage. He wakes up so fucking fast

Listen Riven literally specializes in wilderness survival, it's literally his consecration. Watching his boyfriend get excited about plants with Flora is CUTE and Brandon will not apologize for kissing his boyfriend when he's cute

Riven gets really cagey about running off and Musa is like "what's wrong?" And he lashes out :(, Brandon and her have a little chat about him and then Riven comes back like "THE TRIX ARE HERE EVERYONE PANIC!!!"

Their conversation is different bc they've almost swapped roles but I think Musa and Brandon making eye contact whenever Riven does something™ is really funny and good

When Helia shows up in the ship he and Brandon look at each other and Brandon just knows Helia is trying to figure out what is the funniest joke to make about the situation, and then the "me too!" Thing happens and Brandon will NEVER let him live it down

Riven sacrificing himself for Musa still happens, they are besties, and Brandon literally can't move during this so that's fun for him (it's literally only his training that keeps him from panicking out his fucking mind)

Musa, Brandon, Flora, and Helia all in a cuddle pile in a hospital room watching Riven's heart monitor

Of course there's a cute reunion and kiss when Riven wakes up and also "never do that dumb shit again, your not allowed to get hurt next year I need a break from being worried if your going to make it or not" and Riven is like (⁠@⁠_⁠@⁠)

Brandon is dragged back to Eraklyon and he's even more mad about it this time

Riven texts more often bc he misses Brandon so much, and Brandon sends gifts IF YOU EVEN CARE

⚠️tokyo revengers chapter 263 spoilers⚠️

mention: this was made before the release of the chapter

after a while I'm back to discuss about the spoilers because this chapter seems really interesting

I love backstories, especially the ones in tr so of course I had to talk a bit about these spoilers

get ready to listen to my long ass rant also please excuse the possible mistakes I had troubles in writing this sooo

btw the spoilers are not in a specific order

the title of the chapter is "Be strong" so is kinda easy to assume that it is gonna tell mikey's story

here we have little mikey( he's so adorable ) with a man who is probably his father

now addressing the elephant in the room. yes, as others, I also thought that mikey's dad(?) looks like takemichi. and of course I wasn't the only one and of course people went crazy. and out of this whole mess we have( I think ) two big theories:

the first one and the most controversial one is that mikey's dad might be takemichi's dad. i've seen lots of reactions, some people liking it and thinking that it makes sense and some really being against it

I don't wanna give my opinion about this one bc we don't have enough info and it's too early to assume. I don't think it's a bad theory but it really has some controversial parts as in takemichi almost sleeping with emma ( bc it would make emma and michi related )

the second theory it will be that this man is not mikey's father and that he is in fact takemichi's (which could justify takemichi's curls and looks)

honestly I don't think so just because later on we see mikey with his mom (an ill woman) so I believe that you know while she was at the hospital mikey's father was taking care of him and shinichiro. and this is basically mikey's origin story so it makes more sense for the man to be HIS father. now idk

ngl I don't have too much to say about it just that is cute and sad at the same time. mikey was probably talking about his day/how his days went and she seems to be genuinely listening to him😭

now haruchiyo still has the patches at the corner of his mouth so it means that his scars are STILL NOT HEALED. which just makes me wonder even more: how deep was his injury?

we have baji who looks...shocked? disgusted? worried? I can't tell but this specific panel makes me think about the circumstances of this meeting. I suppose they have met mikey here so... why it looks like they haven't seen each other for a while? and why is that? did they distanced themselves from mikey or did something else happen?

we have these 2 panels which show us what happened on that day

as you can see mikey doesn't have blood on his hands

this makes me think about a theory that was left behind long time ago but it seems that it is surfacing again in the fandom, the theory about haruchiyo hurting himself. like it really is weird for me that haruchiyo touches his fresh scars. it doesn't make any sense like wouldn't it hurt even more?? like you shouldn't be doing this you can get them infected

my baby is crying but he keeps smiling and I really don't understand anything😭😭

next spoiler is with mikey and draken my babies(they're my fav duo)

I kinda don't understand what's going on like they also look shocked but why? okay maybe draken was shocked by mikey but mikey?? was he shocked by draken? or what?😭😭

I wonder if here they met with sanzu and baji yk it could make sense but I don't think they are in the same zone? or idk i mean draken,mikey and baji end up going to the same school sooo

anyways I just love how this panel is draken's flashback from when they met for the first time but from mikey's perspective💗

we have this panel that looks really similar to the one we saw in draken's flashback. here mikey so probably explaining that he can fight and stuff

we also have a panel of what ppl think baby mikey because that seems to be his blanket

i don't have too much to say about this mikey is probably talking about himself(or the narrator)

and the last panel(which is not but) with mikey crying bc he lost his mom :(((

I love to see that he is showing emotion

tho I can't get over the fact that he really looks like chifuyu in this XD tho it's kinda clear that is mikey cuz eye color

ok thtf spoilers under the cut:

so if ur question is will dorcas ever tell marlene about anything that happened with regulus/the horcrux/voldemort (that is the question right?? it's 3 am i'm sleepy) then the answer is simply: no.

like. from dorcas's perspective, if she told marlene anything about the horcrux she would be signing her death sentence. and i do mean ANYTHING. dorcas knows that she fucked up and got in too deep with regulus, and she 100% regrets going to that cave, because now she knows that voldemort is not going to stop until he finds her. so like. this is something that will probably be addressed more in ch 48 (once i write it), but even though dorcas is not 100% sure that regulus actually succeeded in destroying the horcrux, there is enough evidence to tell herself that he probably did, and because of that she is never breathing a word about horcruxes to anyone in the order. because she knows that if dumbledore or moody found out they'd insist that the order needs to confirm that the horcrux was actually destroyed, and would want to start digging into it, and that would mean voldemort knows whoever was in that cave was part of the order, and there are a thousand ways that an investigation into the horcruxes could lead him back to her, and dorcas does not trust dumbledore to protect her.

but as long as nobody in the order gets involved dorcas is just a ghost in the wind. a complete stranger with no ties to anyone, which makes it so much more difficult for him to find her. and if he finds her, he finds marlene, and her parents, and everyone she's ever cared about.

so we're at this point in the war now where there is this sort of fundamental gulf in dorcas and marlene's relationship, which is most of what ch 47 is exploring, so here is a snippet of that which pretty much summarizes the vibe:

and this is just a situation where like. because of the circumstances surrounding them they cannot love each other in the ways that they need. marlene needs dorcas to be open and honest because she needs them to be together, and dorcas needs to do everything in her power to protect marlene because she needs them to be together, and they are clinging to each other so tightly that it hurts. and the worst part is that marlene would understand why dorcas is keeping secrets if she knew what those secrets were, but she'll never know, because dorcas can't fucking tell her

Judd is never there lmao … He has strong friendships but he goes home to his wife. ooooh, damn, that is so true! the contrast of judd versus the others makes complete sense indeed, that judd's first choice will always be his wife and kid, and then maybe friends his age that he's known for many years, e.g. tommy and his poker buddies. he's been living and having a fulfilling life in texas before the new team was formed, and it's nice that this is visible in these choices. it makes things clear without downplaying his friendships with the team. also re tommy, she is another good example of more realistic freedom: she did choose her family over her job because it made sense back then until she eventually returned. i liked that – life is long, and people temporarily leave their jobs, go on sabbaticals, etc. this isn't a death sentence to solid friendships.

we don't see them close in that sense despite being very involved in each other's personal life. this!! there is this weird disconnect happening between what i actually feel when i watch canon versus what i know i am supposed to feel (what the shows tries to make me feel) when i watch canon. i get what the show tries to convey but they suck at believably executing it, so i just. do not really feel it lol. i mean, you cannot be amatonormative (all of them have separate families; not being each other's top priority in comparison to their actual partners; being single is equaled to living an unfulfilled life/ romance seems to be regarded as vital) and anti-amatonormative (all the scenes that emphasize that family can come in many forms and that friendships are meaningful too) at the same time. these puzzle pieces do not fit together at all, and whenever one of them is shoved into my face, i just like ??? why is this show just contradicting itself repeatedly? one episode ago, you said something else! either you tell me that a life can be fulfilling and incredibly happy without a romantic partner or nah, but you can't do both.

He's poor little has no clue what he wants Buck in a way that feels like they're almost laughing at him lmao. djdjdjdjdj THAT is so real. they use buck a lot for those purposes, and it's not doing his character nor the other characters a favor lmfao. at best, he's relatable for having those struggles while the others seem supportive. at worst, he seems like the laughing stock because he is young and does not have a romantic partner/children yet, which means his life must be empty and he lacks life experience, while the others seem condescending. "judd with the younger members" feels better than "bobby, hen, chim with buck". i exclude eddie bc he's apparently buck's age but never got the baby treatment.

If it wants to be dramatic, give me drama with lifelong consequences. i agree! i like silly, i like drama... balancing them can be tough tho, and then they just water each other down until you do not really get to enjoy either of them to their full extent. love the funny episode but the entire premise of this show is sooo wonderful for whump that i cannot help being a big sad that they don't manage to build proper suspense :'(

It just feels weird when they really hammer home how close the crew are and important they are but really don't show them all hanging out for extended periods of time. In fact they make a point of showing them hanging out separately. i am taking a megaphone to shout this so loudly that the 911 makers can hear me <3 exactly. it really is a Choice™.

I was fully convinced Kameron was going to try and kiss Buck or something, I still kinda think they'll go there because ... why not! OHH, interesting! i personally did not think that would happen, but it's an intriguing idea to me. i really loved that the only reason this entire donor sl even happened is because an old friend remembered buck to be such a good person that he decided "his [buck's] babies will definitely all turn out great" lmaoooo. and that kameron felt comfy enough to seek out buck's support even though they've only known each other for a few months! <3 cute! ngl i would not even hate them getting together. what a story to tell the child someday LMAO. no but jokes aside, pls omg give these characters something to do that isn't their next love interest for once <3

The whole destined to be alone, unloved, I'll never find someone who knows me is just ... I'm sick of it and makes both characters feel like they actually don't know what they want. absolutely this! i am okay with some romance and drama, that is all a-okay with me, but we've reached a point where it's really just chipping away at the characters. the others have the advantage of being in clearly endgame-coded commitments already, so buck and eddie drive most of the "unsure single life" perspective in the show, which is very very very unfortunate for them because the show sucks at that LOL. i enjoyed natalia and the scenes she had with buck, but i am only "tentatively hopeful" at best at this point sksksksk. we've already covered the whole issue with 911 and side characters in general – i cannot imagine that the show will suddenly improve the writing in this regard, so i expect the worst treatment for all these poor side characters. plus, season 6b felt incredibly rushed and dropped a lot of balls; the buck and natalia romance definitely needed much more room to feel more organic and authentic. it felt like a choice made because the s7 renewal was not certain, so ig we'll see what they'll do with it now that they do get a s7.

It also makes the idea of them invested in each other's lives seem a little truer, more authentic rather than them hearing about snippets of things on the way to calls. hell yeah!! i remember the nancy thing, that was so adorable and relatable! building meaningful relationships takes time and effort and mutual liking and intention! yes, even if those relationships are platonic! it's a little bit like the crucial difference between "what you say" versus "what you do". calling somebody a "friend" but never hanging out with them one-on-one or not seeming to share any interests with them is... weird. saying things to the audience (e.g. mentioning snippets on calls) but not showing things to the audience just doesn't feel as authentic, yes yes yes. i'd rather verify things with my own two eyes if only 911 allowed me to actually see some of those alleged friendships it attempted to establish as canon lmfao.

IDK I just think it's a lot easier to let your audience see a group of friends grow into a family than start by showing them THIS IS THE FIREFAM FAMILY. very true! it's funny because og 911 kinda started out in a similar way? both bobby and buck were quite new to the 118, and none of them were friends except hen and chim. they could have build friendships from there, and they did, in a way, but the approach was so different (and i personally think worse) from how 911 ls did it. they started out with the heavy shit, which isn't bad per se but... they then neglected to do the normal friendship stuff on the way? e.g. they mentioned buck and bobby going to a concert in season 1 and even now, after 6 seasons of development, that seems absolutely unlikely to me. because... do they even like music? do they share the same music taste? what does music mean to them? we simply do not know!!! i cannot emphasize enough how empty all these dynamics feel because the characters lack interests and passions and a life outside of their job sksksksksks. another example, we saw buck being very interested in fitness in season 1, but that was then completely dropped. we see he's fit, but it's not portrayed as a hobby or interest or big part of his life anymore, even thought we know that realistically it must be.

and they all have to go their separate ways and it just shows a nice way of moving these characters along but not damaging ties they still have. oh yeah, i have seen the end of s2 and ik from tumblr that they had to go separate ways – and i LOVED the balls of the show to externalized the reason for such a big change in the show and showcase how the job is not the be-all and end-all for the team. characters trying to constantly fix themselves and that being the entire topic of a show is simply boring to me after a while. i'd much rather watch characters having to work together to fix some big external problem while their self-improvement occurs on the journey. another thing that i miss in 911.

this isn't a death sentence to solid friendships - And that's it. I think they did such a good job of showing Tommy's influence on the whole group so quickly. The fact that she replaced Michelle was such a good thing for the show. Michelle was outrageously isolated from the group and maybe they would have paired her with Owen but then the stuff with Gwyn might not have happened and that again was a real step up for the show I think.

i exclude eddie bc he's apparently buck's age but never got the baby treatment - Which is so interesting to me. It's like they realised they wanted to make a different/mysterious/he's gone through so much type of character for Eddie so ran with it and they have genuninly unpacked a lot about him which is great. At the same time, Buck is seen as like you say a bit more of a dumbass and they play on that. YET they have given him the most devastating backstory and show him being competent and caring and mature all the way back to season 1 with Abbey so it's ... it's weird. They want a baby of the group and that was fine in s1 but now it's s6, that baby has rightfully grown up and doesn't fit the mould they tend to shove him in for the sake of it. I really hope that stops soon!

The whole donor sl is really an interesting one. I wasn't mad about it but would love to know what the general vibe was a little more because it did seem to come out of nowhere. It seems like another 'give it to Buck!' type of sl where everyone else is so settled, Buck seems to be the character they can try stuff out on without thinking long term. Idk if the sl is going to continue or just be dropped but it's something I think they did give a lot of airtime too in terms of him making his decision.

e.g. they mentioned buck and bobby going to a concert in season 1 - LMAO WHAT! I have no memory of that whatsoever but that seems hilarious. I do have a lovely soft spot for Bobby and Buck, I think their relationship is super sweet but they need to develop it so much more. I get the whole dad/son dynamic but !! I'd love to see more. It's like they can't decide whether to go all in, have Buck be seen as Bobby's family OR they're colleagues. The middle ground sometimes feels ... unresolved or lacking.

AE is amazing! I watched it from the first two episodes and was hooked. I'm a secondary school teacher myself so I just die at the accuracy and OMG you need to watch severance, it's one of the best things I've ever watched.

So my older younger sister is in town for thanksgiving. The college one. The goth who proudly walks through a catholic school wearing pentagrams and shirts with 666 on them. Great kid. Well, once she got a job at the restaurant next door to my work, our social lives became oddly connected even tho we never hung out with each other, just the same person in his opposite circles. And this person? The mentioned fuckboi who crashed on my couch for like three months and brought me and some other girls together. If anybody remembers the story of the fuckboi and all that, my sister has the fucking continuation of it and I’m still SCREAMING over the development in the Same Fucking Story because fuckboi is still on his bullshit, but now with my sister’s ex best friend from high school.

So, after the whole act the fuckboi pulled with me and those other two girls from panera, he slipped over to the arby’s next door where he was the slightly elder ‘i’m possibly in college’ type of person. (You know, you have the high schoolers, ‘college’ kids, and then everybody over 25. He went from being the just graduated fresh out of school one to the ‘college’ one. And he picked up another few girls.

The worst part is: Boi was a manager there. The same boi who decided that he wasn’t moving with his parents to another city and decided to live on my fucking couch.

He didn’t stop the fuckboi shenanigans. Now, with these fresh out of high school girls and him being in his gap years, he ended up settling into a relationship with my sister’s friend. Now, my sister, being the good friend who very much knows about what this guy did with me and my friends, she goes to her friend and says “He cheated on his ex, and is currently cheating on you.” etc etc. To which her friend vagues her on tiktok about “Knowing *fuckboi* would never do that to her” meanwhile my sister is just like, “K. this is your problem now. Bc he’s fucking this other girl i know.” Then fuckboi joined the air force, gets ‘military married to’ her, still sleeping around but he’s ‘absolutely dedicated and loyal’ to this girl. And this girl left all her damn friends behind bc every one was like ‘he’s not good.’

And. well. he’s not good.

Then as my sister tells me this story, she digs up the evidence of the vaguepost and shows me it. Fuckboi has gone from kinda cute, kinda weird, kinda hot, to looking like he just got drafted and kinda weird-looking. (He has a damn clean shaven face and a buzzcut and i do not know this man and cannot believe that i previously was a partner of his)

Anyways, he’s in the Air Force now and still fucking around literally everywhere yet engaged to some girl he’s been dating for less than a year. I’m still screaming about this. I don’t know who that man is anymore. It’s only been two years since his last girl (same one i was friend with) got sick of him and kicked him out and I’m becoming convinced that he can’t afford to live on his own without a girlfriend with a home because his parents went across the state so he keeps getting girlfriends to live with all the while still being a fuckboi.

And the Air Force. It at least explains the box of flight simulator gear i had sitting in my dining room for three months.

ENGAGED. HE’S 21. WHAT ARE WE? cHILDREN?? TF ARE YOU ENGAGED FOR?

He hasn’t deleted me on snap yet and there’s a chance i could really fuck something up if i wanted to. But I’ll let this girl live in her deluded happiness with him until he messes around with my sister’s life again.

Also, suddenly remembering the time this boy told me I had a ‘bad boy complex’ because he was such a bad boy and that’s why i had feelings for him, not like he was a close person to me who i was sleeping with or anything. Bad boy. He called himself a bad boy. Dude. You don’t know bad by a long shot and are literally a lawful citizen in EVERYTHING other than your cheating and that you can drive 90mph in a fucking prius. Just because you were sleeping with somebody who was 22 when you were 16 and drinking doesn’t mean you're a ‘bad boy’. (It wasn’t me, he was 18 when around me and STILL Boasting about that.)

He was a rich kid who came to the south part of town to sleep around more after his whole adventure there. I can’t even with this kid.

Sorry for the late reply! I've been doing things here and there, mainly because I'm slowly starting to get busy with my work, but we here now!!

I'm so glad you liked the new chapter!!! And that it evoked that kind of reaction from you hahahahah I was sooo nervous, mainly because I thought everyone was expecting something different? But at the end of the day, it's important to stay with my original vision of the story and go from there :3

Awww writing a flustered Y/N was like a dream!!! I always liked that kind of trope when it comes to romance, because I guess some of us have been in that position that feel as if we gonna do something to mess the friendship up hahaha but I also like the other side of the spectrum—I wonder if we'll see it in this fic?

AND I DONT KNOW 😭😭 I DONT KNOW WHY JINICHI WAS COMFORTABLE TELLING Y/N THAT I mean, ah, he probably was having like a moment of weakness, you know? He saw his brother's room being noticed and he was like ok, maybe I'm not the only one that has forgotten about my brother (Even though Y/N doesn't know who Toji is lmao) she was probably the first person in a long time he's to spoken about Toji. EITHER WAY THERE IS SUCH A THING CALLED OVERSHARING and she certainly didn't need that right now.

He just does bad things over and over again, I'm finding it hard to like him too but omg I guess I'm holding on because he's handsome (AND I GOTTA SAY, NOT THE MOST HANDSOME ZEN'IN SO HE'S ON THIN ICE) but yeah, that was unnecessary cruel from him :( he likes to say that he cares about Y/N but then does that shit 🙄 no wonder she likes Naoaki more and more each day.
