Making a big masterlist to be updated as I go along.

All the unrelated shorts/prompts/asks/AUs for this series live on tumblr under the #mdnsy oneshots tag. But they get lost constantly on my dashboard so they also have their own permanent home on Patreon (free) in a MDNSY Collection.

Any time I add to the collection I'll make a post about it on tumblr too, but as I said those get lost really quickly on tumblr and can be hard to track down after the fact. I will likely never post any of these on AO3, even if I might link them in the ANs for people to read. They're mostly just >1k shorts that come from ideas people have in the comments of the fic, so they may never find a place in the story proper, but the opposite of that is also true. The oneshot Cursed Fight, for example, will probably be somewhere in the epilogue. Other ones like Anti-Hero might be slipped into a later Endeavor POV if it makes sense. So especially for that reason, I don't want them interfering with the reader experience. Also, if I create an AU (like Sunshine of my Lifetime, or the Mpreg AU that as of yet doesn't have a name) that has enough substance of its own, it might find its way into the 'big leagues' lol of AO3.

There's a meme on here about how seeing someone on AO3 is like attending their Thesis presentation, and seeing someone on Tumblr is like being at their house watching them eat mayonnaise out of a jar at 2am. I in particular am mostly a trash meme goblin and that reflects pretty soundly on my Tumblr, and this kind of content deserves better than that lol

SPOILERS FOR COIL CHAPTER 19

Wow. Just wow. After reading the most recent chapter of Coil by Allegory_for_Hatred, a BSD x HP crossover fic, the tragectory of my life has changed. This may be really niche talking about this fanfic (if you haven’t read it already, go read it!!) I honestly am not being dramatic when I say this might be one the best chapters. The set up, the dynamics, the potential, the twists, all perfectly executed. This may be really niche talking about this fanfic (if you haven’t read it already, go read it!!) but we need to talk about the symbolism! I adored the likening of Dazai to a rabbit and Mori to the snake, this coiling metaphor fitting into the literal title of the fic.

The whole scene at the end was so vivid and powerful, Dazai's white dress being stained red with his own blood represents the idea of turning to a hero into a villan, pure into the impure and white unto black. And Mori waltzing with him was so perfect. The Allegory writes Mori is so unsettling yet perfectly creepy. Calling Dazai "my dear" telling him he looked cuter in red is insanely disturbing. I can just imagine Mori with a borderline possessive grip on Dazai as they danced which is especially unsettling when, in a traditional waltz, the leading partner has a hand on the following partner's waist or just beneath their arm.

Imagine your Dazai in this scene, your waltzing with your abuser next to the corpse of your crazy father who that said abuser killed after your eye was stabbed out yet your being forced to dance in a gore-soaked dress all while slowly falling unconscious due to blood loss. This visceral imagery is so unsettling and powerful that I knew I had to draw it.

I can’t help but ramble about how much I love this series. Never would I have thought I would enjoy the series as much as I did going in. But hear I am drawing fanart for its most angstiest moment. I have to thank the author, this fic has been consuming my every waking thought. I can’t wait for the next chapter. Seeing everyone’s reactions too Dazai’s missing eye is going to be insane....

I want to preface everything I’m about to say with this: if you use a third party service to print any material (fics, art, art in fics, etc.) please, please, please reach out to the author/artist and get permission to use the service before printing! It doesn’t matter if someone else already has permission, make sure *you* have permission. Also consider if the art in the fic belongs to someone other than the writer (like if the work was a collaborative piece or if it features fanart of the fic) and get permission from them, too! You may have to wait for a response, or you may never get one (in which case, don’t print without permission), but it really is worth it to make sure the authors/artists feel comfortable and confident that they keep control over their own work.

This is the first service I’ve used, and I have no experience binding, so I’m just sharing what I did and what I noticed with my untrained eye.

First, the service I used is Barnes and Noble Press. Here’s a link:

You can make books publicly for sale or books strictly private for personal use. If printing fanfic, be certain that you are creating a “personal” print. It will appear like this in your projects section (note the “PERSONAL” banner above the cover art):

As you can see - the price is pretty decent as far as books go! After tax, shipping, and handling costs, this book turned out to be $21.82.

You can choose how you want to customize the materials your book is made up of. Different materials cost different amounts (i.e. printing color pages inside is going to increase your price a lot). If you don’t know where to start, here’s the preference settings I selected for my copy:

Now, understand that they are not editing your book for you - you’re still going to have to do all the formatting and arranging in a document yourself and designing your own cover (so be prepared to still spend a lot of time on this project). They simply print and physically put all the pieces together for you.

Lastly, I want to address quality. While this is far better quality than I could manage on my own, it’s still not 100% up to quality of most books I can purchase in a store. For comparison, I’ll show a couple side-by-side images of the fic print next to my favorite published book, The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater.

Dust jacket: Feels great! Literally no complaints.

The hard cover: A bit cheaper feeling. Definitely noticeable difference with a printed visual texture instead of real texture. The printed texture creased and wore away to reveal the white beneath. It’s visible here after just a few openings of the book. Also, unfortunately, you cannot customize the hardcover under the dust jacket, so no spine labels and you’re stuck with this color blue:

Finally, my biggest concern, the binding of the pages: looks a lot more like a paperback that had its cover glued onto a hardcover than an actual standard hardcover. Again, I’m no expert and idk if that’s normal, what anything is called, or how this affects the lifespan of the book, but you can even see where the spine kinda hovers away from the hardcover casing and how that compares to the The Raven Boys.

Anyway, the service isn’t perfect, no, but it works for what I wanted, looks nice, is user friendly, and allows me to hold a fic I otherwise never would have had the opportunity to. I appreciate it for that.

This year has had many ups and downs, and as of late it feels as if the whole world is a down. Real life has really smacked me down, and I've felt so isolated from all of the things and people I love. But as ever, the world is looking up, and I can see the light...and looking back brings me so much joy and fulfillment. I've accomplished so much that I don't give myself credit for. More than I'll dare type up here, but let's go through the highlight reel, shall we?

For my dear friend Beth's birthday, I finally posted some of my HP Astro work to AO3! (Speaking of which, I really should work on adding more soon...)

A_Loveunlaced (@a-loveunlaced) is an artist I very much admire, so the start of the year was super cool getting to chat with them, seeing their Snarry art, and writing a ficlet for said art, Again (and Again).

Delved into and fully embraced the controversy by running HP Chan Fest with @cindle-writes, which was such a cool and meaningful experience.

Plus I wrote some fics I'm really proud of for said fest: profane holy, Cruel Summer, The Virgin Bride.

Also my dear friend Viran (@mrviran) drew some fanart for Cruel Summer, I believe while it was still anonymous and everything! But she also totally called that it was me who wrote it, which is always fun for me when people know me in the Anon stages!

I wrote more fics for Kinkuary and Kinktober (which I always love!)

Shared more meta on AO3 with The Half-Blood History (I really do need to import more meta there!)

Finally wrote and posted chapter 3 for smile with sweet surprise (aka Stepdad Snape fic)

Started writing and sharing WIPs I've been long excited for: Wasted for Love (Golden Triad + Snarry) and A Taste for You (Sugar Daddy Harry).

I ran HP Fruit Fest solo! Which was a lot, but I had fun and I was super thrilled to not be the only one super into fruit!

For Snarry-a-Thon I wrote a companion piece to last year's Contempt (aka my heart and soul), called Devotion, which my friend Aristi kindly beta read for me! The whole series is so deeply meaningful to me and it feels so huge to add more to it.

For Snarry Bang, I teamed up with my pal Viran (@mrviran) for The Curse of Anteros. I wiffle-waffled on what to write for the longest time, but my vacation to Orlando unlocked something in me. The whole fic hit me like a hurricane and came out in like a 2 week period. And the art Viran created for it is spectacular (I'm still obsessed). Oh, and it was such a treat having the fabulous @writcraft beta! There's nothing quite like having a creator you admire help your work be its best version!

And, of course, I had another opportunity to chat with my friend Beth for @fanficmaverickpodcast, with the episode: A Very Snarry Christmas.

Revisiting life is strange and its fandom is really bittersweet

I don’t think the fandom is completely dead, it’s not what it used to be and I accept that but it’s bittersweet

also I don’t wanna gatekeep anyone from discovering LiS late, I don’t believe in “true fans”- I’m glad we’re still getting fandom babies hehh, thankfully there is a lot of fan materials to be discovered

I just wanna be a sentimental fool about the life is strange fandom, I was there when the first episode came out I was as old as the characters and it was an event, a moment that can never be replicated- the barbenheimer for tumblr lesbians

We never had a game like this before, it felt tailor made for us and we went crazy

It was fun, you’d just log on tumblr and find new fanart of your favorite character or ship- inside jokes and shitposts were rampant, a couple of fan writers and artists came together and made a fan game- “Love is Strange” where Max gets to romance Chloe, Kate, Victoria, Amber (tell me I’m not the only who remembers shrektoria and Rachel eating a salad while laughing meme)

I made fanart and memes and they blew up but I lost that account

They’d call us sjw trash on YouTube and make fun of the game, we didn’t give a shit

But I think it was around before the storm where i started to lose interest and was burnt out, also I just didn’t like the direction they went with for the game I thought it was an unnecessary edition to the main story (Rachel didn’t need a complicated backstory, Elliot, too much conflict for 3 episodes) and I don’t think I was the only one cause this is where the fan art and fic updates started to slow down

Then I moved on to other things, other fandoms- shit happens.

Life is strange was just another part of my cringey teenage self who the hell cares I was cringe

But now I’m an adult, I have responsibilities and anxieties that I never knew I’d have to deal with- i went through a lot in the last 8 years sometimes I wish I was still that cringey ass teenager. This year was particularly bad, lost someone I loved

I stumbled upon old fan art on Pinterest and it reignited my love for the first game, I felt happy that I had something to take my mind off and goddamn revisiting the fandom years later is so bittersweet. I miss my old fandom mutuals, the blogs that used to update everyday were last active 5 years ago and most of the og fan artists had either rebranded or had left, one of them got hacked

Tumblr doesn’t make it easy for you to look up older posts, you have to rely on old blogs, Google or Pinterest (kinda made it my mission to archive what I can find)

There are new artists doing their own thing and I love that for them! Also people still write fanfics and update them, when I have the time I sketch out my fave characters and ships- it seems like there is a vocal community on tiktok but idk i don’t wanna go there

But it’s not what it was and I accept that, shit happens I’m glad I got to experience it during its peak and that I was left with good memories and content I can still enjoy

I’ve definitely seen shittier and deader fandoms

Before LiS and Steven universe there weren’t a lot of spaces that let you enjoy wlw ships, they were either upstaged by yaoi stuff or fetishized (deviantart) this game and its fan base helped me accept my identity as a lesbian, told me it’s not a fetish when two girls hold hands

A: Belos wanted him to stick around and so he made it happen. As for specifics: *shrugs* your guess is as good as mine! This is something I've preferred to leave up to the readers. I will simply confirm that he isn't hiding any goop powers or OP palisman-given magical abilities. He is, for all intents and purposes, a regular human who is somehow really, really old.

Q: If Caleb is still alive, where did Hunter come from?

A: The full story here hasn't been told yet, but you may notice Caleb is missing quite a few bones...

Q: Caleb's ears are pointed! Did Belos cut them??

A: Correct

Q: Does Caleb know about the Collector/the basilisks/Belos' plans?

A: Probably! He's been Belos' sounding board for 400 years. Access to things that could "further corrupt him" or provide him a tool for escape, however, are off limits, so there are many things, like the Collector, that he's heard about but never seen for himself.

Q: Where's Flapjack/Amity/Darius/etc?

A: This is basically a canon divergence. If you haven't seen a particular character, it's safe to assume for now that they're up to whatever they were doing in canon.

Q: Do you have a posting schedule? When will the next part come out?

A: There is no posting schedule. I draw (mostly but not always) traditionally in my free time, for the fun of telling a cool story, and some posts are longer than others. That means the timing of the next post depends on how long it is, how much time I have, and whether or not I'm at home with access to my scanner. Sometimes this means I post quickly. Sometimes it means you'll see me next month. Sorry about that.

Just know that if I know there's going to be an extended wait, especially one where I'm not actively working on the next drawing, I will make an announcement about it. If you haven't seen an update in a while but I also haven't said anything, it's almost definitely because I'm actively chipping away at a part of the story that's taking me longer.

Q: Why do some of the story posts have a letter after the number? Are these less important than the regular story posts? Can I skip them?

A: No, I Do Not Recommend skipping them! They are just as important as the others. They have a letter on the end because they were added later and I use letters as a way to avoid renumbering everything. Ginkgo Trees Masterlist

Every day I am more baffled but proud of how popular this fic has gotten, to the point we have AUs and separate side stories and even a couple retcons (mainly in regards to the kids). As such, and because ginkgo trees itself holds such a special place in my heart, it gets its own masterlist.

ALSO; if you notice something missing, chances are I didn’t feel like it was big enough to specifically link. Did you hear about the "do not trace or use my work" update RS has on... I think her Twitter? @hestia-is-ace-pass-it-on knows more about this. I'm just wondering if this is going to affect Lore Rekindled at all since your series is an AU thing?? (I hope not cause I really like Lore Rekindled).

lmao yeah I heard about that, frankly I'm not worried, it's not going to affect Rekindled in the slightest as far as I'm concerned because even the panels that are sourced from S1 LO (like the Persephone looking up at Hades one, the Cerberus one, etc.) are still redrawn by my own hand from the bottom up, I don't directly trace them and I'm not copy + pasting them from LO and just calling it a day. Not to mention (and IDK if Rachel realizes this or not) those kinds of "please don't trace/use my art" warnings are more for people who trace/rip art and pass it off as their own, i.e. deliberate theft. Lore Rekindled is advertised as a fanfic/foe fic/AU project with proper credit given to Smythe and disclaimers that Lore Rekindled is not affiliated with Smythe beyond the original idea and art style that it's aiming to mimic - she can't copyright an art style, the Greek myth inspirations, or the brushes that are used, and there's nothing she can do about people making AU comics.

If she theoretically wanted to put her foot down on Rekindled, she'd have to go after the entirety of the fanfic/fanart community 😂 She has next to no ground to go after any derivative or fan projects inspired by her work, not unless they directly try to impersonate her and/or make a profit with the Lore Olympus name/branding/etc. (hence why there isn't a Patreon for Rekindled). Even the direct edit accounts themselves don't try to pass themselves off as LO or Smythe, they always show the original panel and make it clear in their bio descriptions that the accounts themselves are for LO which is easily sourced as not belonging to them.

One could argue that it's generally bad taste on the grounds of it being rude to edit other people's work, and yeah, that's valid. It casts the presumption that there's something "wrong" with how an artist wants to express themselves and that the edit makes it "better". But, for starters, we all know why these edits exist because LO has gone down in quality and people are having their own fun time trying to restore that original vibe in tribute to Rachel's original version of LO; second, it would be a lot more heinous IMO if LO were still some small series being made by a nobody, but ... it isn't, it's a massive commercial product within its industry and fanwork/foework is par for the course with commercial products; and third, there still isn't any sort of legal ground for Rachel to stand on because those accounts still aren't pretending to be her or her work, if anything they may as well be advertising it.

Plus, a lot of those edit accounts are more like redraw accounts, so many of them may as well be DTIYS prompts rather than direct edits (that's not a bad thing, just a statement of fact) save for a few accounts that deliberately try to mimic the old LO style as much as possible when editing new panels. Those kinds of stylized redraws are legit just fanart.

For many of these accounts, a lot of it's still work they're doing themselves and they're not trying to pass off their edits as legitimate LO products. No one's ripping these panels and re-posting them and going "look what I drew today!" (ex. Love's Divinity did this and a lot of people rightfully called the creator out on it, thankfully it seems like they've learned and moved on from copying directly from LO and other webtoons) they're going "hey, so this is what the webcomic looks like now, and here's what it looks like in my style" or "hey, this is what the webcomic looks like now, but here's what it would possibly look like if it still looked like S1 LO". None of it's meant to be maliciously stealing or impersonation, the pettiest it can get is just people saying "Rachel, your art sucks" which may as well be the only reason she edited that into her bio in the first place.

Like, if this IS aimed at the edit and redraw accounts, she's basically only upset about the panel edits that call out her obviously declining art IMO. Especially considering she's retweeted edit stuff before, many of them being from the anti/ULO community which I don't think she ever even realized ? 😂 But regardless, she shares edit panels a lot so it makes that bio notice come across less as "don't trace or use my work" and more as "don't do edits that make me look bad!!" when she's already doing plenty of work on her own end to make herself look bad 😂

In my personal opinion beyond the legalese... yeah, her work really does suck nowadays. I get how awful working for Webtoons is, I get that Rachel might not even be into drawing LO anymore, I can empathize with her maybe not being able to put in the same amount of emotional investment or time that she was able to put into it back in S1, but every single edit account is pretty sincere in doing it simply because they want to express how they wish it could look if it hadn't dropped in quality.

Phew, that was a lot of words for a very simple question, but rest assured, I'm not really worried it's going to affect Rekindled. 90% of the panels are completely original compositions save for the few panels that are referencing older moments in S1 LO that I brought back for Rekindled's plot, and even those panels are still redrawn from the ground up and given different outcomes (ex. Persephone punching Hades in the face lmao). Probably won't be doing much of that from here on out but more so just because the plot's going to be shifting even further from original S1 LO; but it's def better safe than sorry on my part to just make that 90% into a 100%, I suppose.

As a last point, I don't blame the edit accounts who ARE stepping away from editing panels out of respect. While it might not be a technically legal issue, I can still respect those who still want to respect Rachel's requests and do better as creatives and individuals. Just because something isn't against the law doesn't mean it isn't a cruddy thing to do, and I say that fully as someone who cut their teeth on edit content. We have tons of other ways of expressing ourselves creatively in this fandom than directly editing old panels.

The DTIYS stuff though, I don't think that should be off limits. It's fanart and that's completely fair game IMO especially for someone like Rachel who's creating a commercial piece of work. It comes with the territory. Welcome to being a pro.

A birthday gift for my dear friend @akatsukitrash , a fanart of his OC Senju Akemi with her cousin Tsunade, based on the eighth chapter of their fic Far Beyond The Woods of Dawn. It is a beautifully written fic with exceptional characterization, fascinating worldbuilding, and immersive writing. I absolutely adore it.

The chapter depicts a ceremony to bond a Mokuton wielder to their guardian. There's a lot of symbolism in the chapter itself, but I ended up adding my own in this fanart 👀

The descriptions of their ceremonial clothing in the fic is as follows:

“Tsunade looks at herself in the mirror, fixing invisible wrinkles in her simple, light green kimono.”

“Akemi enters and is guided by a nun to the pillow in front of Tsunade. She’s paler than normal, wearing a pure white kimono. Their clothes have to match their chakra colours. It’s tradition.”

“Kiyomi kneels beside [Akemi] and caresses her hair, nicely done into a bun held by an ornamental hairpin.”

I first decided to give Akemi a hairpin adorned with ginkgo leaves, as its name in my native tongue, “tree from the dawn of the world”, immediately reminded me of Akemi as a character.

As for the other reasons I have chosen ginkgo:

“In Asia, the ginkgo is considered a holy tree and is often found near temples and other places of worship. In Buddhism, Taoism and in the teachings of Confucius, the tree has acquired great symbolic significance, representing long life, vitality, and hope. In China, the ginkgo tree is also called "Buddha's fingernail".”

The Senju are Buddhist in the fic, drawing from the Buddhist imagery surrounding them in canon, and ginkgo leaves just felt appropriate for that. I shan't talk much of Akemi herself since I don't want to spoil the future arcs and chapters Idir has planned, but in my opinion... yeah. The ginkgo is very suited for Akemi in particular.

I will get to the camellia in her hair, in both their hair, later.

I also decided to give Akemi a chihaya to wear over her kimono— chihaya tend to be worn by Shinto priestesses during religious ceremonies— and in Japan there is much incorporation and syncretism between Buddhism and the Shinto faith. A variant of chihaya (or perhaps chihaya is a variant of it) was apparently worn in the Heian court by nobility, and was called “kariginu”.

And then there is the wisteria ornament in Tsunade's hair.

“The wisteria is associated with youth, love, perseverance, immortality. The Japanese name for wisteria, "fuji" can also mean "immortality" [fu: no, lacking + ji/shi: death] and Mt. Fuji's name is also tied to immortality.”

“The wisteria also features a lot on Japanese family crests too, and the "Fujiwara" were a very prominent and powerful family in the history of Japan who kept marrying their daughters into the imperial family.”

Considering Tsunade's prowess with healing, her youth and vitality, the wisteria seemed like a good fit to her. The wisteria hair ornaments I've seen typically have two colours, purple and white, but I decided to just keep it white because it's like Tsunade has a piece of Akemi in her hair, and Akemi has a piece of Tsunade in her hair, and they both have matching camellias in their hair.

It's very neat, imo.

And then! We get to the camellias.

The tsubaki/camellia symbolize gods and the divine, and apparently used in religious rituals though I don't know how. They are offerings to the gods, they're sacred, they also symbolize faithfulness and longevity though they also symbolize a noble death (associated w the samurai) because rather than losing petals apparently the entire blossom just falls off the stem, and which is why it's a terrible idea to give a sick person a camellia as a gift because the flower beheads itself, essentially.

Those who awaken the Mokuton among the Senju are thought to be sacred, closer to Buddha and the gods, and the camellias felt like a good way to pay homage to that.

💕 What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?

I think my best is Sundari Lament. I put a lot of polishing to make that a satisfying story and the narrative took on a life of its own. It made itself better almost despite myself.

But I think my favorite is From Uncanny to Concordance. It’s short but I loved writing it and it came out saying exactly what I wanted to express. I also have a lot of fondness for Jedi: Dropout.

🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

I am very happy with the art I commissioned for Sundari Lament and fan art I received for Let’s Call It Love. The one moment I would love to get fanart for that I haven’t yet is this one quick scene in Lavender and Chartreuse involving a bathrobe drawstring. I think it’s one of the most sensual things I’ve written.

🦋 Which character is your favorite to write?

Barriss is my muse so she’s up there. I also love writing for Satine Kryze. She’s so inspiring. I also love writing Anakin and Padmé, which is weird because you’d think it would be so hard since Star Wars can’t seem to sell it well. I love writing undervalued characters like Raffa and Trace Martez and Tepoh.

🦈 Which character is the toughest to write?

One I haven’t yet written for: Luthen Rael. I have a scene in my head and a lot of the dialogue. But Andor is so well written I am intimidated. How can I do better that the “I have made my mind a sunless place” speech?

🚦What sort of endings do you prefer to write: ambiguous, bad, happily ever after, etc.?

I kind of like ambiguous endings best. Who knows what happens after The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Barriss Offee? Even some of my happy endings can expand. I’m sure things remain rocky after Heart of Kyber, for instance.

📚 Is there a fanfic or fanfic writer you recommend?

I know so many good writers! There’s @jedimasterbailey @airlockfailure @kalevalakryze @machinerismsx @greenflower21 @archduke42 @kaaragen and @frogblast-the-ventcore is just starting out. As far as fics Across the Frozen Sea is very sweet and influenced my work a lot, especially Jedi: Dropout. the moments when we smile and those in between is maybe my favorite fic so far. Tum Durare Solum/ How the Earth Began to Harden is very good and I want to read where it goes. And of course @bluedeedeedoop ‘s fabric store Barrisoka AU Me and you and awkward silence...

I quietly have a thing for Foxiyo and Playing in the Perception Pool and Invictus are my favorites in that department. Invictus really inspired my fic Inferno. I know I’m leeaving writers and good works out rn, too! Coming Home to You is so good as is Body and Soul by @morose-magnetrix

💥 What is one canon thing that you wish you could change?

Look, I’m a simple fan. I just want to know what happened to Barriss. If she was executed right after The Wrong Jedi ended I’ll say that sucks and move on but at least I’ll know. I’m glad Dave changed the original ending where she blew herself up. That would have been too far with the character assassination. And would have made even more mess in the Legends canon since she already had an established death in 2013. If there’s not going to be any more Barriss content just tell us and we’ll write it. I just want closure.

Also as for music headcanons I haven't really thought about it very much, but I can tell you what I have thought about and honestly I have no explanations. I am going completely off of vibes.

Tim we know is into like new wave post-punk. Joy Division, Devo, ect. Idk I don't listen to him when he talks. Going more into head canon realm I would also include like new wave gothic. The cure, siouxsie and the banshees, like 70-90's type alt. Huge music snob.

I feel Masky would have a different taste, same kind of era but heavier and more industrial. Rammstein, Nine inch Nails, maybe even DC punk type shit, minor threat, black flag, dead Kennedys, decendents. Suicidal tendencies idk

Brian and hoodie honestly I don't see as big music people, brian I can see being very into like synth pop, or like... I don't know how to describe what I'm thinking. I think tiktok was calling it dream core or like goblin core or something. That's what I imagine brian listening to LMFAO. As for toby. Honestly. I feel like he just listens to the same exact things as me. It just feels RIGHT. But when hes not all up in his own head he'd be into the classics. My chem, peirce the veil, sleeping with sirens, you know what I mean by classics. He'd also get into the heavier stuff from time to time, motionless in white, Lorna shore probs. Like he listens to as much music as tim he's just not a damn SNOB ABOUT IT! So he's a little more diverse.

my friend loves weird horror content and so they got into emesis blue without an interest in tf2. they started asking me questions about it vs tf2 (since ive been an avid tf2head since i was 13)

after watching the first ten minutes i had to pause and inform them that it felt like an sfm-ification of the 9 year old hyperserious ff.net tf2 fics i read when i was a child (though the story quality was definitely much better than those, and i was blown away by the amount of work i knew must have gone into the sfm). they asked for clarification, i showed them the baboon moment, and they understood so instantly it was comical

unfortunately for my friend they have a disease called "a different taste in media" so i cant make them a tf2 fan as well. sad. well theres other emesis blue fans who can also appreciate the funny hat ragdoll game and its comics on their own merits. i thik

This is what I kinda expected tbh! When you present Emesis Blue as part of, like, your Tf2 Starter Kit, you're bound to attract people who are horror movie fans and not necessarily absurdist comedy first-person shooter fans. It's not to say you can't like both, obviously, but one is fanart that doesn't and shouldn't be treated like it has bearing on the other! You're not gonna get more Emesis Blue out of actual tf2, so it just appalls me to recommend it as a starting point. Using tf2 character models, having "respawn" (a tf2 fanfic concept that isn't actually canon the lore as far as I know) be a plot point, and having Easter eggs for tf2 fans doesn't make a movie a good starting point for someone who knows nothing about tf2. Getting exploded by crockets on casual Sawmill is a good starting point for someone who knows nothing about tf2

I literally left a discord group that I had been in for like, a week because that's what they called N!Alucard. Also because they wouldn't let me talk about LoS, only about NFCV.

I remember liking many of the fanart and fanfiction when it was just the first two seasons, and like a little bit with season three, but yeah, I noticed that as well in just about every fanfic I read. I tried to reread a lot of those fics and man, so many of them only focused on N!Alucard's trauma, and almost never any on Trey's, and it just got so boring after awhile.

But you're right. Celiakardo, from what I've seen of it, seems like a ship that I could get down with, but N!Trevphacard (I don't actually remember the ship name) just has a huge dynamic imbalance that overshadows what would've made the ship at least decent. And this is coming from someone who literally ships the entity within the castle of LoS with Gabriel. Honestly, N!Syphacard seems like a better ship than any with Trey in it.

And the thing is that, you can have an unhealthy ship w a power imbalance! But you just gotta be aware that there is an imbalance there and were all that happening irl it would be a problem (even my beloved maleon ship is has its unhealthy elements. Leon bestie ilu but that mans is trouble). If there is no awareness of those elements it can come off as if they're being brushed under the rug or as if there's no actual unhealthy situation to begin with, which is hmmm :/. Ofc im not saying all ships must have a problematique disclaimer nor that all trephacard shippers are onboard w insulting your partner's murdered family, just that if there's no awareness of all that i find it uncomfortable.

And its funny you mention syphacard bc precusely one of the fics i vaguely remember was uhh, Sypha n Alu getting together while Trey anguished over it (iirc it was partially bc he hit or yelled at Sypha while drunk. Idk i do like that it addresses that alcoholism is not all funni silly jokes and it has devastating consequences both for the person and their loved ones but it also felt a bit mean to dump all the wrongdoings caused by Trey's poorly healed traum in front of him while n!Alu is the nice bf here despite his Behaviour. Im going here by memory tho so) and like Trey. Treyey. My buddy pal. Ik most bitches in a 10 mile radius want to lynch you but srsly dont simp like that you're better on your own
