Reading a fic that's so well written I wish I could close my eyes and just let the descriptions and atmosphere wash over me, but the dilemma with closing my eyes is, well, I then would not be able to continue reading this fic, now would I.

i wouldn't necessarily say the fact kokabiel and baraquiel are grigori disproves the theory, if only because we don't know how the grigori story fits into the good omens canon- and playing fast and loose with the bible stories is always an option so it's still a possibility, just an unlikely one if we follow the orginal biblical canon; as the grigori arrive much later on, and their 'fall' is not the same one as we see with 'lucifer's angels'

regardless, the grigori are fascinating to consider- especially in the gomens universe! they're unique amongst angels, and still vastly different from demons- the only ones who well and truly get humans

i'll start by quickly sharing the grigori lore, then bring it back to crowley

The Grigori

the grigori are detailed in the book of enoch, and their time is after eden, after the beginning. with sin now being an option for humans, the grigori were created and sent to earth to understand human behaviour

their name translates to 'the watchers'. an apt title for their role: watchers over humanity. the reason for this is debated, but fundamentally we come down to the important fact that the grigori, with their unique position as Watchers, understood humans better than any other angel- which was the whole point. why humans sinned, and how to influence them towards virtue and faith while still allowing humans to maintain their free will.

then, things began to change. the grigori started to interact with humans, taught us of technology and knowledge that we would soon discover ourselves. they later began to marry humans. they copulated with humans- from this, we had the nephilim. i don't need to reiterate how that particular tale ends. at least, not for the nephilim.

The Second Fall

here's the fun part. at least, in the context of talking about 'Fallen Angels'

in the eyes of god, the grigori had left their place of belonging, heaven, in favour of humans and earth. for this act, they were to fall.

except, the grigori didn't fall. at least, not in the sense we tend to define falling.

jude, verse six, outlines as much. 'and the angels that kept not with their first estate but left with their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgement of the great day'

it would be more accurate to say the grigori were cast out, that they are in 'time out'- for they were not stripped of their grace, nor did they fall to hell/become demons as lucifer's angels did. instead their punishment is to spend the rest of their years on earth, until the day of judgement. for all intents and purposes they are still angels, just not yet allowed back into heaven.

(when we consider that the grigori had already been living on earth, amongst humans, there's something to be said for wondering if this is really a punishment at all. god really fumbled the bag on that one, or maybe it was intentional. the grigori tale is full of interesting debates!)

from what i gathered, this event is [colloquially] referred to as 'the second fall'. it happens after the original fall, the better known one. a long time after- given the grigori are after eden.

the important takeaways about the grigori come down to this: they are unique amongst angels for understanding humans, they are the parents of the nephilim, and they 'fell' from heaven- but not in the same way

Fitting with Good Omens/Angel!Crowley theories

if we're following the biblical canon here, crowley couldn't have been kokabiel or baraqiel for they are both grigori. they didn't fall with lucifer, not as the-angel-that-crowley-was did. by the time of kokabiel and baraquiel, crowley the demon already existed.

the grigori came after the beginning, once humans had already left eden. their 'fall' is referred to as the 'second fall', nevermind the fact that they didn't really fall at all. the grigori aren't in hell, they aren't demons- they're still angels. contrastingly, crowley fell, and very much is a demon- he's part of the first [real] fall, one of lucifer's angels. let's also remember that a very important part of the grigori story is how they fell for, and into bed with, humans- and procreated with them. somehow, this isn't something i envision for the-angel-that-was-crowley

this said, crowley (and aziraphale) were definitely about on earth during the time this was happening. they witnessed the flood themselves (the incident designed for the purpose of destroying the nephilim, the offspring of grigori and humans), and i'm sure at least aziraphale would have heard about the 'second fall', if not also crowley along with the rest of hell (also, imagine how pissed you'd be if you took a million-light-year dive into sulphur, came out a demon of hell, only for these 'watcher angels' to also be called fallen, when all they did was get put in time out for several millenia. the unfairness has to sting)

i like to imagine crowley had a form of healthy tolerance-bordering-appreciation for grigori angels- they value humanity's free will, shared knowledge with humans that often centred on creative and technological developments, even when this meant punishment by god

what makes the grigori so interestingly unique is their understanding of humans and what may drive them to sin. it's a skill that even aziraphale, with his appreciation for humanity, hasn't quite grasped yet

i don't think we'll ever actually see the grigori in good omens, since they're not too widely known of, but they fit so perfect to the good omens theme of discussing human morality and behaviour that we see debated by crowley and aziraphale. they'd both have very different, very strong, feelings about the grigori and their fate- which is fun to think about

○ So, one could think that between Aubrey and Sunny, Aubrey would be the BIGGEST ler ever and win every tickle fight but to be honest they are both pretty equal here

○ Because both of them feast and thrive in unexpected tickle attacks.

○ Aubrey because she LOVES to catch her victims out of guard, especially Sunny because he always let out the CUTEST mix of a snort and a squeal together with a bunch of wiggles and squirms. Like, usually Sunny will just lay there and take the tickles (sometimes even trying to push the offending hands away but never with enough force or energy), but when Aubrey manages to sneak behind him and run her index finger across his entire spine?? His body just takes a screenshot and he wiggles like crazy for a couple of seconds before being subdued by fast giggles

○ Also Aubrey will NEVER admit but there is simply something lovely and amazing in the way that Sunny looks at her after an unexpected scribbling in his neck, a pinching on his sides or a poke on his spine. His eyes is always beaming w joy and his eyes wrinkle at the corners and he smile and suddenly she just *knows* that she will have to tickle him again in the future.

○ Also I like to think that in the future, when Sunny is a bit more confident in himself, he will star to get into the random rough housing that Kel and Aubrey are always up to. And you just know how it is. One day you and your two friends are just rolling on the ground, pushing each other around and then you sense Sunny trying to sneak upon you while Kel is distracting you by shoving a hand on your face and you know, like, you have two hands and no qualms about playing dirty so you just.... ya know start digging on Kel's armpit and not let his crackles distract you from turning around, pulling Sunny's hands so he loses his balance and fall on your lap and then lightly skitter your fingers on the back of his ribs with your other free hand.

○ ♡ Victory ♡

�� She is generally very merciless when it comes to tickle fights but that doesn’t always mean that her attacks are rough and stuff. Especially with Sunny because he always reacts better when it comes to light tickles, full of fast titters and quiet snickers. Besides his stamina was pretty low for some years so any more playful and energetic tickling would have him breathless and tired v easily.

○ Tickling him and Hero (who has a silent laughter) creates what the gang likes to call The Silent Melody. They both blush a lot everytime that title is mentioned

○ Also, well!, light tickles means a laughter quiet enough to hear any and every tease and ooooh boy how Aubrey LOVES to absolutely DESTROY all her victims with teases (because she is a SOFTIE)

○ For Sunny, her teases are usually variations of "Huh? What did you say? Care to repeat that?~" and "Ops, does that tickle? Well, you just need to escape then. Problem solved! But, hey, if you get to escape you better run the fastest you can or otherwise... I will catch you again.~"

○ He is not that flustered by her usual taunting teases but they're fun to say and it's nice to see the way huffs and puffs and wobbly smiles escape from him when she drops a compliment for his laughter or his reactions here and there.

○ NOW!!! SUNNY'S SURPRISE ATTACKS!

○ So, different from Aubrey, Sunny doesn’t randomly tickle someone because of a strategy of battle or something like that

○ He just get random Ler Moods cvfghjjhgvbn

○ I mean, I mean, they’re not TOTALLY random, his thought process is just kind of complex. Sometimes he will just be hanging out w everyone and then he sees a bean passing by with a shirt with red flowers and he remembers about that one afternoon in Kel’s house where Basil was talking about all the new flowers he wanted to try to dye with this new technique he saw on a magazine the other day and how he could make one with each of their favorite colors and Aubrey said that there was already flowers with her favorite color and that was same magazine they saw that adversiment about that movie and that was a good movie, very fun, full of cute moments and there was a tickle scene there wasn’t it? It’s been a time since he tickled someone. He should tickle Aubrey.

○ While that entire movie happens on his head outside he is just,,, sitting,, and then suddeny his sharp, concentrated eyes locks on Aubrey and then he NYOOM

○ No hesitation. No seconds thoughts. Just silly tickles.

○ His tickles vary from light to rough depending more of his mood, the tickle spot and the person, but generally a word that can describe them is efficient. His fingers are nimble, his teases are rare but very deadly and he can’t deny that there is a part of his heart that gets really, really happy to be the reason of someone’s smile.

○ With Aubrey, he LOVES to use a bit more of light tickles. And she just can’t stand how much maddening that is. Just some fingers scratching her stomach or dancing on the skin behind her knees or a few pinches and prodding on her ribs and then she will be immediately LOST in high pitched giggles that makes her entire face burn with heat and usually she would punch anyone who saw her like this but that is Sunny and she trusts him.

○ It feels especial that she will let him tickle her like this and Sunny is just very content to just hum happily and let out a tiny smile while letting his fingers skitter and dance around while snickers and giggling fills the air

○ When they are around the others tho he will be a bit more playful and energetic which results in a lot of babbling (I am once again defending here my headcanon that Aubrey just talks about whatever when she is tickled) and trashing around.

○ He doesn't say a lot of teases, preferring direct attacks or building a bit of attencipation by wiggling his fingers or pretending to attack one spot and then jumping to the other but, believe me, few things in life makes you feel even more ticklish than hear that boi saying w a low and calm tune: "tickle tickle tickle..." or a "Your yelp was cute" or "You sounded like a squeaky mouse"

○ Aubrey can and will deny forever the loud, hysteric wheeze that left out her mouth at this last tease. Sometimes she remembers about it and automatically die on the spot. Or decide to get revenge. Again.

our payroll budget is running on a frayed shoestring right now (for various reasons; most of them just being the fact that we're in the lull between summer and holidays) so stuff is like. I'm so glad you liked it! I didn't even mean to write that much! I was just going to write about Eve and Neon but once I got done with Eve I thought of Yinu which then made me think of Sayu which made me think ahead to Tatiana's fight but I had to finish 1010's first, ugh! It was so much fun to write!

Also that "let us die in piece" was actually a typo lol! Meant to write "peace" but by that point I had already spent about 3-4 hours on the ask so I missed some obvious errors like that lol.

As for White being a jerk, he is one because he feels like his life was ripped away from him and that he is being punished all thanks to Blue's actions.

Blue attacked Ex-Jay, attacked West, attacked B2J and yet HE was promoted to leader because White couldn't handle the pressure of leader. White became just a figurehead for 1010 while Neon gave all the responsibility and power of leader to Blue.

Not only that, but Blue is the reason Purple was destroyed by Tatiana. Blue attacked a human (either West or Ex-Jay, idk which right now) and was supposed to be the one Tatiana destroyed, but Purple jumped in the way to save Blue.

So to White, everything is Blue's fault, even before Blue stopped the revolution. Once the negative changes happened after the revolution (1010 being stripped of their ability to fight back, hatred of robots forming, and NSR turning very toxic), White just kept blaming Blue for everything.

It is similar to Eve in the sense that both of them blame it all on Blue, and then that blame extends to others. Like White is mean and resentful to the other 1010 members because he is no longer the leader and feels like they don't respect him anymore, which would be Blue's fault.

There is also an internalized hatred of himself for not being a good leader when he was one. Thinking that maybe he could have stopped Blue but failing to do so. He refuses to accept blame however, and instead turns that hate for himself into hate for others.

It also doesn't help that once things started getting toxic and people started gaining up on 1010, the only people lower than White in terms of power were Yellow, Red, and Green. So of course White is going to try and force whatever power he has over them to try and get the feeling he is a leader again. And to try and MAKE those three respect him through fear, similar to how Tatiana runs NSR.

The only reason that White isn't fully fears by the rest of 1010 is because Red stays near Neon or Blue, Yellow knows how to pin the blame onto others, and Green doesn't give a shit about life anymore. Which just infuriates White more because he doesn't have power.

It's not even like he is power-hungry and wants to control everything (like Tatiana), he just wants some control of his life and to be able to make his own decisions. He is following Tatiana's rule but acting more like Yinu, except being a lot more hostile/aggressive instead of depressed and docile like Yinu is.

So yeah, just White not being able to deal with losing autonomy and being punished for other people's mistakes would be the biggest reasons why he is an asshole.

#so we have been like monitoring it all day so we know like.... when we can actually put food in it #and it SAID it was fine at 10 so I went and got what little food I'd gotten today and stored at my mom's #and now it's fluctuated again and I'm like hahahahaha DO NOT FUCKIN BE BROKEN GODDAMNIT I JUST GOT YOU OH MY GODDDDD #I'm going to die. r i p me. this month is evil. it's evil. hell month.
