3051 - 300 SECONDS
"Who dares defend this world from the steel talons of the Jade Falcons?" -Star Colonel Rard Hoyt, First Falcon Striker
Tumblr media
Missiles rained down around the endosteel chassis of Elizabeth Ryhill-Hazen and her 'Mech, Death Knell, like drops of driving rain. Some threw up plumes of dirt; some hit trees and scattered splinters. Elizabeth ignored them all. Her targeting computer sang; with the flick of a switch and the press of a button, she sent forty missiles streaking away two-by-two-by-two, arcing upwards before they slammed home in a river of high-explosive shrapnel. The targeting computer read a kill. Elizabeth barely even reacted, and simply shifted targets. After all, she, along with the rest of Talon 3 and the attached Star of Elementals, had a job to do.
Star Commander Tanya "Blade" Indell's Archer C stepped forwards, crushing a few pine trees underfoot in the process, and for a brief moment made an impromptu smokescreen as she fired off a barrage of long-range missiles. Beside her, Trespass bowled down a solid trunk and unleashed a thunderous shot from the Gauss Cannon mounted atop the chassis that pierced clean through the armour of a Demolisher and sent the turret flying as the ammunition cooked off.
The mission assigned to Talon 3 was simple. Forward Operating Base Geischt was the command nexus for most Lyran forces operating in this theatre; therefore, it had to go. The other Stars of Trinary Vau had occupied themselves distracting the patrols and engaging reinforcements while Talon 3 bore down on the Forward Operating Base itself. It was not a particularly fair fight--indeed, you could reasonably classify it as a violation of zellbrigen--but the Inner Sphere did not practice zellbrigen, and therefore, neither would Trinary Charlie. That was why the force bearing down on FOB Gesicht was so comically powerful in comparison to the rather paltry garrison.
Death Knell was a fairly standard Mad Cat Prime; two ER Large Lasers, two ER Medium Lasers, an ER Pulse Laser, two racks of LRM-20 missiles, and twin machine guns. She was accompanied by a Summoner, a Warhammer IIC, an Archer C, a Marauder IIC, and a full Star of Elementals in Battle Armour. By comparison, the largest enemy BattleMech was a Marauder, followed by a Warhammer, a Shadow Hawk, and a by-comparison microscopic Spider SDR-5K.
Death Knell's forearms pulsed cerulean, stabbing through the left arm of the Spider and torching vital internals. Another shot from Malia "Ronin" Noveau's Trespass punched clean through the enemy Marauder's torso and out the other side, detonating an ammunition dump in a spectacular lightshow, sending shrapnel across the FOB and setting a few tents on fire.
"Enemy vics are starting up," Blade reported, tagging a trio of SRM carriers and firing as she spoke. James "Tourist" Redshore's Warhammer IIC fired both its ER PPCs; Elizabeth watched with a smile behind her eyes as the twin blasts slammed home and eviscerated one carrier.
Trespass sent another Gauss Rifle round clean through the enemy Marauder, which shuddered under the impact. Two brilliant-jade lasers carved deep lines into the enemy Shadow Hawk's cockpit armour as Allison "Samurai" Graves-Hardy fired the moment she closed into range, ignoring the short-range missiles that flew startlingly close to her cockpit while charging forwards. Elizabeth finished off the Spider with twin Pulse Lasers to shred the minuscule machine's core before switching targets to the two remaining SRM carriers and the small groups of scattered infantry doing their best to take up positions on a battlefield that was very much not theirs to rule right as the Elementals began swarming into the trenches.
"That Marauder is a tough son," Tourist observed, firing another pair of twinned blasts from Doorknocker's arm-mounted cannons. The enemy Warhammer flinched under the impact.
"Focus on your target, Tourist."
By this point, Talon 3 had closed to close range; Ronin's Marauder and Blade's Archer were lingering at medium range for heavy fire support while Death Knell, Samurai's Summoner C Seppuku, and Doorknocker closed in to close range, stepping over the tiny outer wall with something resembling contempt. Trespass's Gauss Cannon split the air and detonated the right leg of the Lyran Marauder; the 'Mech crushed a tent as it fell. Elizabeth's Pulse Lasers burned through the armour of an SRM carrier and set the racks of missiles on fire; the crew tried to bail out and won bullets for their troubles. The third carrier didn't even get the honour of weapons; Death Knell's right leg just raised up and stomped the machine flat as Elizabeth opened fire on a group of repositioning infantry.
An antitank round detonated off of Seppuku's right arm; Samurai swore over the comms as she tore open the Shadow Hawk's core with her short-range missiles and sent it crashing to the earth. Blade's Caliburn fired off a swarm of her own missiles that detonated like a fire tide along the outer defenses, scouring away infantry trying to mount an effective defense. Seconds later, the Lyran Marauder finally died as a pair of brilliant blue PPC blasts tore out the beast's core, leaving only the Warhammer and a smattering of infantry and armoured vehicles that Elizabeth was all too happy to pounce on and shred.
Doorknocker's lasers ripped off the Warhammer's right arm as Death Knell eviscerated a Demolisher that had only just managed to get started up and massacred another group of infantry that were trying to pull back. The bodies were scattered like so many pebbles in a brook. Trespass sent the small camp's final armoured vehicle sky-high in a pillar of flame.
Two seconds later, Doorknocker blew the head off of the Warhammer and sent it crashing back to earth. That seemed to be the final blow needed; soldiers began throwing down their weapons and surrendering, or turning to flee. The MechWarriors of Talon 3 let them run--possibly the only mercy they'd shown since the engagement began--as the Elementals began rounding up prisoners.
Somewhere in the ballpark of sixty Lyran soldiers had died, with an additional forty captured. A full Heavy Lance and several armoured vehicles had been slagged, and a Forward Operating Base had been secured by the Jade Falcons, which had lost no one.
And the ambush had only lasted five minutes.

thank you for the prompt!!
i blink inside oh, your blinding light
Fenris x Allison Hawke (somewhere during Act III)
“Maker’s shit and ass; it’s cold,” as if to punctuate the observation, Allison brought her thick, woolen scarf up over her nose. Were he not already smiling softly at her, Fenris would quirk an amused brow at the drama.
As it was, snow had gathered in her hair and eyelashes. She hopped from foot to foot in an attempt to generate warmth. Fenris had worn three shirts and two coats, and carried a spare in preparation for exactly this, and she had already acquired the spare.
“A stroll to help us digest dinner?” She’d asked.
“You will be cold,” Fenris had answered.
“I’ll bundle up!”
“There are not enough coats in Thedas.”
The market plaza of Hightown had long since closed down for the night, and the streets around were more or less empty—more or less silent. With each footfall, a layer of otherwise undisturbed snow crunched underfoot. Despite his more sensible instincts, Fenris let himself drift in this moment of peace. Allison hooked her arm through his and pulled herself close, and he huddled against her as he felt drawn to.
“This is nice,” Fenris said quietly, because it was.
The bottom half of her face still hidden beneath red wool, her eyes gleamed and he knew she was grinning up at him.
“Are you happy?” She asked him, though muffled.
His smile spread until his cheeks ached. A sensation he found he was growing rather fond of.
Instead of answering, Fenris ducked down, kissing where he knew her mouth was hidden. He lingered for only a moment before pulling away. Allison stared after him, utterly smitten.
“As am I,” She sighed, laying her head on his shoulder as they continued to walk in the snow.

Animorphs notes 50
Book 50
In the final count down
We start with a fucking Cassie book.
Who is scraping their slave’s blades together in the middle of a fight?
Who decided to start haveing hork bodies make a weird pretty much impossible noise given the fucking placement of their blades.
Also still no distinction b/w enslaved people and the people controlling them
… Cassie’s skin… is already brown… ya know what? I don’t care, I’ve already revoked her Black card for a while now
So this was an exercise. One that Cassie failed.
Also since when was Toby’s speech ‘guttural’?
Also just doubling down on this staying put for siege warfare nonsense from 47 huh?
Imagine if yall decided to break this shit to yer families b4 u were forced to do so
Well at least they have a new camp and didn’t inside on staying in the old one. It’s a start
Hell yeah hork-bajir construction and engineering prowess
If Jake really gave a damn about the saftey of his parents he’d have fucking made a second attempt to rescue his brother
He should blame himself
I mean I’ve mostly ignored Tobias but this whole wild hawk thing reads like an extended suicide attempt that the universe just won’t take him up on
hammers i get axes and saws? Why? horks... are axes and saws
Cassie's mom needs to not be specist
also of course the parents aren't allowed to have any competence. they are damseles who can't fight and need to be babysat by horks. also! the animorphs never consider giving their parents morphing just incase to protect themselves. Except for Loren but there’s lot to unpack there and I’d rather just throw out the suitcase
also why the fuck would Cassie's mom, a fucking veterinarian not understand that people could die? Vets have to deal with death and injury and unpleasant shit. Ya know the realities of nature and chance and the horrible things that happen to animals and what people can do to animals
but that would mean actually making the parents characters and not just devices to show how much the Animorphs have 'grown' and how people who'bve never been to war can't possibly understand it
I’ve not forgotten Marco deliberately leaving his stepmom to be enslaved b/c he likes his first mom better
Also the Animorphs are def falling apart
i wish the parents were allowed to act like actual people
When I say the ableist shit in Animorphs I don’t just mean the shit with the physically disabled characters
Rachel didn’t touch them? At no point in that segment did she touch her mom. This is book 34 all over again when the writer changing events a paragraph apart. My kingdom for a fucking editor
Ah it just seemed like she was talking to Rachel and not the horks. I will not delete my previous point
and the series had been trying to make a point of painting Rachel as needlessly violient and dangerous for a good while now it just felt like something the writers would do
*Note: I don’t actually put my full conversations with Ach in these
Cassie yer the last person who can be calling people cowards
A functional team leader would know the second in command just incase anything happened
Tobias seems to be hanging out in human shape more
The hork-bajir are getting on just fine Cassie and would be great without yall
… I’m just gonna assume that Toomin took all the parents brains b/c them being functional would get in the way of his plans
I’m just gonna start skipping shit b/c thsi is very poorly written
Is this implying that Toby has an underbite?
Just assuming that the yeerk resistance has been crushed or can’t help
All the animorphs are speciest as fuck and deserve to fucking lose this fight
“So it has to be people” I hate these kids i hate these kids i hate these kids
Writers: Purposely makes the adults behave with no sense or realism at all
Writers: Are to uncreative to use the hork-bajir Writers: Guess the only solution is to throw more kids at the meat grinder and let's sprinkle in some ableism
The yeerks have very advanced prosthetics/medical technology and a body is a body you ableist hacks
...The yeerks would know that morphing heals people you cunts VISSER 3 FUCKING EXISTS\
Pointing out yer inconsistencies doesn’t make it better
I don’t  give a shit about yer romo worries
You’d think these fuckers would wear a different face than their own but that ould imply they can think
Part of me just loves the ‘fuck off’ energy that girls have for Marco.
More ableism. There was no rudeness on the part of the stuttering boy or the girls expecting the Animorphs to fucking stick around and wait for what he had to say
I like James
James and friends are a good.
Like it feels like an entirely different actually competent writer showed up for a few scenes
Annnnd now we’re back to shit. Collette you and yours did nothing wrong or dude
Kelly has exactly the right attitude. And Timmy’s probably the only asian person outside of Allison Kim in this whole fucking series.
hell yeah James kick his ass!
I wanna see Kelly kick their asses too! Cassie is racist against romani people
honestly I would have prefered it if James didn't give a shit about Jake turning into a tiger. something like, "That ain't gonna help you beat me jackass"
listen take it to the ultimate level, mount some dracon beams to his chair and just have him fucking go at the yeerk forces and kick their asses
Call their asses out James
Not everyone is willing or able to put their lives on the line and that’s fine. Not everyone is a warrior or willing to throw away their lives. There’s more roles in a war than just fighting
Oh who coulda guessed that the important one would be healed by morphing
i am not well versed enough in disability issues to rip that apart but i know enough that it should be shredded
You had several fucking choices that you decided not to go with b/c the writers are hacks
Huh neat the yeerks predicted them and attacked
Nice. I love some competence. The unnammed yeerk leads the capture of the majority of teh Animorphs
Kelly's battle morph is a fucking walrus! that's awsome
Everyone’s competence has flushed into the void
booo Kelly has a perfictly good walrus
Tobias isn’t morphed oh forget it
One of the yeerk resistence actually did something!
Thanks Cassie! You’ve fucked over yer side and will have much more blood on yer hands.
Also Jake continues to not give a singular shit about rescuing his brother
And that ends the book

1. First ship you ever wrote fic for:
uuuuUUUHH fanfic would be dorian x bull x lavellan because i have a massive soft spot for polyships and i never ever ever get to see content for them in canon spheres and rareeeeeeeeely in fanon circles so i decided to make my own
2. Ship you write the most now
zevran x ellanis tabris
by like, a lot. ellanis has absolutely dominated my muse energies for a while now and i love him so much so most of my time is writing about him and zevran
3. Ship you read the most now:

BUUUUT i am reading (slowly, so slowly oh my god) @trvelyans amazing hawke x quizzy fic, fire on fire,  @veridium-bye ‘s superb cassandra x f!quizzy fic, fire in her mouth, and @dalish-ish ‘s beautiful lysette x adan fic, see fire and go towards light all of which i cannot reccomend enough
4. Newest ship:
anders x surana
listen, listen. i have no excuse noure just kinda sprung into being and drop kicked me in the head hollering about mage rights. i didn’t mean for them to end up with anders, originally they were going to be a morriganmancer, but getting to know them and exploring their backstory i found out they’re in love with anders and boy howdy its been a wild ride
5. Rare ship you wanna read more of:
i need more awakening ships in my life -non hawke andermancing, nathaniel howe ships, VELANNA X SIGRUN LIKE HELLO?! i love love love love the awakening crew and anything i can find with them in it has me absolutely catatonic with pleasure
6. Your taboo ship:
uuuUUUH one that i ship or one that i find taboo? i guess a ‘taboo’ ship i think could work if done with utmost care is fenris x anders but honestly the way fandom takes both of their characters and twists them i don’t think i have ever nor will ever see it done the way it needs to be handled in order for it to be a) not fetishistic b) not abusive and c) healthy/growing/loving
a ship i find ‘taboo’ that many others ship [and that can be done well if handled well but it just doesn’t sit too well with me] is any templar/mage ship [especially templar/mage elf looking at you cullavellan] just because there are inherent power imbalances involved and most of the time they’re either overlooked or portrayed as nothing and that unsettles me
7. They never met in canon ship:
HMMM i guess technically anders x surana? noure doesn’t have the, uh, typical origins storyline so their canon is batshit and even if they would have met in awakening if ellanis hadn’t been the warden they still didn’t meet canonically in the circle technically
8. Your unexpected ship:
oh definitely anders x noure -like i said noure took their creation and ran and i’ve been playing catch up ever since
9. The ship you always forget to give love to:
ALL OF MY DA2 SHIPS HOLY FUCK
wren and galahad are so forgotten in my writing hachi machi. i love them and their stories but woof i always seem to put them on the backburner. galahad and fenris have a fuckin sweet almost romance until they gt their shit together and commit and grow and wren is a fucking trainwreck of a lesbian and her relationship with merrill and isabela is something i want to explore in depth but don’t have the spoons to do at the moment
10. Ship your OC with a canon character (if applicable):
literally all of them lads, literally all of them
11. Ship you’re embarrassed to ship:
well. since allison mentioned it in hers i guess the single most embarrasing thing i’ve evr posted and unironically enjoyed to write and partake in an evening of endulging was a sosie [solas x josephine and no you read that right] piece called wicked grace -i’ve even thought about continuing it because it actually had some interesting dynamics and i’m lost in the sauce of appreciating good seduction romance juice
12. Your most romantic ship:
i thought this was going to be an easy answer of ellanis x zevran but honestly? my lavellans are all so romantic? idrilla and solas are all about soft romance, da’ean and bull and dorian show their affections in little things that add up, and linayel romances cass who is the single most romantic character in dai so like, the boy knows what’s up catch him reading her poetry or kissing her forehead or holding her hand 24/7 just because he can
13. Your sexiest ship:
oh fuck probably ellanis x zevran because they have an electric connection and, after they admit it, a strong caring relationship.
14. Your most tragic ship:
i see your solavllan and raise you suranders -idrilla and solas at least have end goals and aspirations and big grand arcs. noure and anders get ash and brands and shattered souls
15. A ship you want more content for:
hoooOOOOOO boy i don’t know i’m starved for like all content but if i had to pick probably more f/f content because my wlw ass is desperate to see other women and feminine-aligned people falling in love and having happy endings

SHOCKINGThe Hollywood Followers of Nxivm, a Women-Branding Sex Cult
Its founder, Keith Raniere, was just arrested in Mexico. But the controversial cult Nxivm has also attracted many rich and famous followers over the years.
AMY ZIMMERMAN
03.30.18 5:15 AM ET
From a Smallville actress turned alleged top recruiter to heiresses and billionaires, the cult Nxivm has cycled through a host of famous and influential followers.
Formerly known as Executive Success Programs, Nxivm is the brainchild of Keith Raniere, who was just arrested in Mexico on sex trafficking charges. As The Daily Beast previously reported, Raniere has been accused of creating DOS, a “sorority” in which female “masters” recruited “slaves” who were reportedly branded with Raniere’s initials and, according to FBI official William Sweeney, “considered [Raniere’s] sex slaves.”
Sweeney continued, “He allegedly participated in horrifying acts of branding and burning them, with the cooperation of other women operating within this unorthodox pyramid scheme.”
According to the AP, “Investigators said Raniere preferred exceptionally thin women, so ‘slaves’ had to stick to very low-calorie diets and document every food they ate. As punishment for not following orders, women were forced to attend classes where they were ‘forced to wear fake cow udders over their breasts while people called them derogatory names,’ or threatened with being put in cages.”
But long before Raniere was arrested—before ex-followers alleged branding rituals in The New York Times, leading him to flee upstate New York for Mexico—Keith Raniere was just a sketchy “executive coach” hawking his courses to an impressive list of acolytes.
A 2003 Forbes profile of Raniere reported that “some 3,700 people have flocked” to Executive Success Programs. “Prompted by a potent word-of-mouth network, they include Sheila Johnson, cofounder of Black Entertainment Television; Antonia C. Novello, a former U.S. surgeon general; Stephen Cooper, acting chief executive of Enron; the Seagram fortune’s Edgar Bronfman Sr. and two of his daughters; and Ana Cristina Fox, daughter of the Mexican president.” Emiliano Salinas, the son of the former president of Mexico, likened Raniere’s courses to “a practical M.B.A.”
“Why should we pay attention to this psycho factory? Because it has well-placed, well-heeled members and appears to be actively pursuing an entrée into political fund-raising...”
Salinas is listed as “VP Ethics” on Executive Success Programs’ website; his bio notes, “A member of ESP’s Executive Board since 2009, he is involved in helping to maintain the company’s standards and responsible for leading its sales force.”

While Raniere appears to have long courted wealthy and high-profile followers, there’s a wide range of involvement, from those who took Executive Success Programs to long-term believers who are alleged to have been involved in Raniere’s more nefarious machinations. A 2010 Observer articlecalled out a few high-profile dabblers, including billionaire businessman Richard Branson. Branson reportedly “has hosted an intensive NXIVM course on the Caribbean island he owns” and was “listed along with Sara Bronfman as one of the two ‘benefactors’ of the 2008 Albany A Cappella Innovations conference, the culmination of Mr. Raniere’s brief obsession with a cappella singing.”
According to a Virgin Management spokesperson, “Sir Richard Branson has never heard of Keith Raniere, he has never met him and there is no association between Sir Richard and the NXIVM group. Necker Island is available for hire by members of the public and Sara Bronfman hired Necker Island several years ago. Sir Richard believed the booking was for Sara Bronfman’s family and friends. The booking was not in the NXIVM name and Raniere was not listed as a guest on the island.”
Forbes was cited in 2003 court filings, in which Raniere said “we have been called by MSNBC and Forbes who are contemplating running stories based on the false information.” Later on in the filing, Raniere complained that, “Goldie Hawn cancelled her engagement with us next week because of the false press.” This cancellation was cited in a 2009 op-ed in the Daily Gazette, which argued that the Dalai Lama ought to cancel an upcoming trip to Albany in light of the fact that it was sponsored by a Raniere-founded group, the World Ethical Foundations Consortium. The writer argued, “In 2003, Keith Raniere roped actress Goldie Hawn into speaking at Vanguard Week, an annual NXIVM event. When Hawn learned about the controversies surrounding Raniere, NXIVM and ESP, she canceled her appearance. If Goldie Hawn has the sense not to appear at an event sponsored by Keith Raniere, then cancellation by the Dalai Lama, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, should be a no-brainer.”
While the Dalai Lama did initially cancel his visit, according to a 2010 Vanity Fair expose, “What happened next is something of a mystery.” The article continued, “People believe that Sara and Clare [Bronfman] flew to Dharamsala, India, to plead with him. And, if so, it’s possible they were just extremely persuasive—because His Holiness changed his mind. But the Dalai Lama Trust, registered in New York State just two days before the Dalai Lama’s appearance in Albany, raised eyebrows. Calls to the trust were not returned. The Bronfman money, it was said, might still be able to buy a lot of things, but not respect.”
Although the aforementioned Bronfman sisters may not be Raniere’s most A-list associates, various reports have made them out to be an invaluable resource to Raniere.

The Bronfmans, heiresses to the Seagram’s fortune, made an appearance in the 2003 Forbesprofile, which featured allegations that Clare Bronfman had “lent” $2 million to Raniere’s program. Allegations against Executive Success Programs were made by none other than the Bronfman’s own father, Edgar Bronfman. While Bronfman once participated in an Executive Success Programs course, Forbes reported that, “He hasn’t talked to his daughters in months and has grown troubled over the long hours and emotional and financial investment they have been devoting to Raniere’s group.” Bronfman even went so far as to call ESP a cult.
The subsequent Vanity Fair piece, “The Heiresses and the Cult,” delved much deeper into the Bronfman sisters’ financial backing of Raniere’s dubious endeavors, alleging that, “According to legal filings and public documents, in the last six years as much as $150 million was taken out of the Bronfmans’ trusts and bank accounts, including $66 million allegedly used to cover Raniere’s failed bets in the commodities market, $30 million to buy real estate in Los Angeles and around Albany, $11 million for a 22-seat, two-engine Canadair CL-600 jet, and millions more to support a barrage of lawsuits across the country against Nxivm’s enemies.”
In 2012, Albany’s Times Union published a list of high-profile Nxivm-ites entitled “NXIVM courts rich, powerful and influential.” It cited Roger Stone, who was allegedly employed by Nxivm. A 2007 New York Magazine articleasked, “Why should we pay attention to this psycho factory?” continuing, “Because it has well-placed, well-heeled members and appears to be actively pursuing an entrée into political fund-raising. Stone, paid by NXIVM, had funneled at least $20,000 to the state GOP; the heirs to Seagram’s fortune are devotees; and, per the Post, Richard Mays—a Clinton friend and one of Hillary’s top fund-raisers—is an ‘Espian’ as well, having taken so-called intensive classes with Raniere.”
The Times Union piece also named a contingent of actresses, including Linda Evans, Nicki Clyne, Allison Mack, and Kristin Kreuk. Grace Park, best known for roles on Hawaii Five-O and Battlestar Galactica, took part in “Keith Raniere Conversations,” a collection of “informal thoughts on civilization, ethics & humanity.” While the conversations featuring Park appear to have been taken down, remnants of Park’s participation can still be found on the internet.
Raniere fled for Mexico after The New York Times published its shocking Nxivm report in October, complete with testimonies from former members. The article featured Dynasty actress Catherine Oxenberg, whose daughter India was initiated into the sorority. In a statement following Raniere’s arrest, Catherine Oxenberg wrote, “For months, I have worked to expose Keith Raniere and NXIVM, and today’s arrest vindicates my efforts. I want my daughter to know I love her and that I want her back in my life.”
As The Daily Beast previously reported, allegations have swirled around Mack, the former Smallville actress who is now rumored to be a top Nxivm recruiter. Mack has written openly about her involvement with Nxivm and Jness, a Nxivm women’s group of which Raniere has deemed himself the “conceptual founder,” and can be seen in Jness video testimonials, as well as ones interviewing Raniere himself.
Frank Parlato, a businessman and reported former Nxivm publicist who is involved in an extended legal battle with the Bronfman sisters, has spoken out about Nxivm on his blog, The Frank Report.
In a 2017 blog post, Parlato wrote at length about Mack’s alleged involvement in DOS: “Both women’s groups, Jness and DOS are based on the teachings of Mr. Raniere. Both require members to keep the teachings secret. Jness is open to females who want to take entry level self-improvement courses on female empowerment. A beginner is not told about the higher level teachings until she proves qualified…Since Miss Mack has assumed control of both organizations, Jness is evolving into a training ground and recruitment camp for women who may qualify for the teachings of DOS. The ‘cream’ of Jness women are invited to join DOS, and the ‘cream’ of DOS women are invited to join Mr. Raniere’s harem [subject to his approval].”
Mack is further alleged to be one of the women who was living with Raniere at the time of his arrest, who “chased the car in which the defendant was being transported in their own car at high speed.”
On Wednesday, Parlato told the New York Post that Kristin Kreuk actually introduced her Smallville co-star Allison Mack to Nxivm. “Kreuk had come first, sometime around late 2005, early 2006,” said Parlato, although she allegedly left the group in 2012. Parlato further claimed that, “Allison was used, as was Kristen, as a lure to bring in other women because of their celebrity status.”
UPDATE:
Kreuk tweeted out a statement acknowledging her affiliation with Nxivm, writing, “During my time, I never experienced any illegal or nefarious activity.” The actress insisted that she left the program “about five years ago” and that, “The accusations that I was in the ‘inner circle’ or recruited women as ‘sex slaves’ are blatantly false.” Kreuk went on to share her disgust with “what has come out” about DOS, and described herself as “deeply disturbed and embarrassed” by her former ties to Nxivm.

The Perfect Storm
Tumblr media
I. Trivia about the perfect storm Sebastian Junger wrote a best-selling book about the horrific true story of a confluence of storms devastating the Andrea Gail and its crew off the coast of Gloucester, Massachusetts. Then it became a hit film starring George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, John C. Reilly, and Diane Lane, which was released 15 years ago today. Hurricane Grace's remnants created the storm in the film in late October and early November 1991. None of the fish in the film were real; they were either rubber (dead fish) or animatronic (animated fish) (alive fish). Wolfgang Petersen, the director, is an animal rights activist. As George Clooney narrates the film at the end, he says, "Blow your air horn and you throw a wave to the lighthouse keeper's kid on Thacher Island." The lighthouse seen in this scene is actually The Eastern Point Lighthouse, not Thacher Island's. The Twin Lighthouses on Thacher Island are nothing like the ones depicted in the movie.
II. CAST OF CHARACTERS & DIRECTOR
Wolfgang Petersen the director of the movie “The Perfect Storm”.
G.Michael Ironside as “Bob Brown” the Andrea Gail is owned by Bob Brown. Despite his success as a self-made businessman, Gloucester residents have nicknamed Bob "Suicide Bob" for his penchant for taking risks while fishing.
George Clooney as “Billy Tyne” as captain of the Andrea Gail from Charlie Reed. Billy grew up in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Billy, a divorced father of two, is one of those rare fishermen who loves what he does.
Mark Wahlberg as “Bobby Shatford” is a crew member on the Andrea Gail. Bobby was raised in Gloucester, Massachusetts, by his mother, Ethel. He was engaged to Chris Cotter at the time of the boat’s last voyage. He is divorced from his ex-wife, with whom he has two daughters. He wanted to take a job on the Andrea Gail to help pay off his expenses after being brought to court for non-payment of child care.
John C. Reilly as “Dale “Murph” Murphy”. Murph is one of the Andrea Gail’s crew members. He is 30 years old and hails from Bradenton Beach, Florida. He adores his three-year-old son Dale and his ex-wife Debra. He buys his son toys as one of the last items he does before embarking on Andrea Gail's final adventure.
Allen Payne as “Alfred Pierre”. Alfred Pierre is a crew member on the Andrea Gail. He was the ship's only black crew member, having been born in Jamaica and raised in New York City
F.William Fichtner as “David Sullivan”. Andrea Gail’s crew member when another fisherman accidentally pulled out, he signed up for the trip at the last minute.
John Hawkes as “Michael “Bugsy” Moran Bugsy”. Moran is a crew member on the Andrea Gail. In Gloucester, he has long hair and a wild reputation. During the storm, he, along with the rest of the crew, disappears.
Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio as “Linda Greenlaw”. Linda is the captain of the Hannah Boden, the Andrea Gail’s sister boat, which is also owned by Bob Brown.
Diane Lane as “Christina Cotter “. Bobby Shatford’s fiancée is Chris Cotter. She is in her early forties when The Perfect Storm takes place. She is divorced and has three children from a previous marriage. Chris is distressed by Bobby's fishing trips, and she drinks to cope with his long absences.
Christopher McDonal as “Todd Gross” a Boston meteorologist for WNEV-TV.
Sebastian Junger  the Perfect Storm is written by Sebastian Junger. Since witnessing the storm's damage firsthand and reading a news story about the Andrea Gail's supposed demise.
III. Summary of The Perfect Storm Five fishermen and their captain boarded the Andrea Gail, a long liner boat used for sword fishing, in A True Tale of Men Against the Sea. Their intention was to sail from Gloucester, Massachusetts, to the Grand Banks off the coast of New England. Each fisherman planned to earn up to $5,000 depending on how many fish he caught. Bobby Shatford and Albert Pierre are the only two fishermen who have a girlfriend. They spend the days leading up to the trip saying their final farewells. The others are mainly loners who say their goodbyes to fellow fishermen at a nearby bar named "The Crow's Nest." Two of the men decide not to board the Andrea Gail at the last minute because they both have a bad feeling about the trip. Even though the crew is putting in twenty-hour workdays, the fishing yields nothing for their efforts over the first three weeks. The captain, Billy Tyne, is ready to return to Gloucester. He seeks assistance from his sister ship, the Hannah Boden, the only female-helmed fishing vessel. After a few days of successful fishing, the Andrea Gail is filled with 40,000 pounds of sword fish – enough to make it financially viable to return home. Storms in the Grand Banks are notoriously dangerous during the last week of October. The Banks are a shelter for thriving marine life, but they are also notorious for gale force winds and hurricanes. On October 27, the National Weather Service issued an alert that a major storm system was forming. And seasoned meteorologists are amazed and excited by this storm. Three weather systems appear to be convergent and would form "the perfect storm." A storm that occurs only once every hundred years or so. On the Hannah Boden, Captain Linda Green law warns Billy Tyne of the impending storm. He continues to continue driving home, despite the fact that he will be in the path of the bad weather. His ice machine is broken, and if he does not return home, his fish will spoil in a matter of days. Tyne meets with Tommy Barrie, the Allison's captain, and is never seen or heard from again. Green law discovers barrels labeled "AG" three weeks later when the Andrea Gail washes up on Sable Island. The ship most likely sunk after being struck by a monster wave. After two weeks, searchers called it quits on finding the Andrea Gail. The Perfect Storm is filled with nautical knowledge about ocean waves, storms, marine life, and shipbuilding. It also offers a comprehensive overview of the New England fishing industry, as well as a look at the subculture of fishermen and their villages.
IV. Review The Perfect Storm is very well example of a sensational film. It's about ships being knocked around by a violent storm. The film lacks complex and engaging characters, but they are not needed. It does not tell a complex story and does not need to; the key events are revealed to the majority of the audience before the film starts. All is dependent on the storm. I won't deny that I was enthralled. We hear about the economic strains on the sword fishing industry, we meet the crew members and their women, we learn a bit about their stories, and then the film is about the ship, the hurricane, and the people waiting for news in port. A parallel story about a luxury sailboat in distress heightens the suspense even further. The Andrea Gail's crew members are a mishmash of standard movie styles. We have Captain Billy Tyne (George Clooney), whose pride has been wounded because his catch has lagged this season. Bobby Shatford (Mark Wahlberg), who is in love with Diane Lane; Murph (John C. Reilly), whose seafaring life has resulted in a pleasant yet sad separation from his wife and son; Bugsy (John Hawkes), the type of character who gets overlooked in crowds; Alfred Pierre (Allen Payne), a Jamaican who has traveled into northern waters for the paycheck; and a last-minute addition, Sully is an abbreviation for Sully (William Fichtner). He and Murph don't get along. What's the harm? Jealousy over Murph's mom, according to the film. My assumption is that the story would benefit from onboard tension. We just think about their outward signs and characteristics; we don't know or care what makes them tick. That isn't a fatal flaw in the film because "The Perfect Storm" is about the storm, not the people. Except for urgently yelled words, the film's best scenes are largely devoid of dialogue. They are about men who are caught in a whirlwind of overwhelming powers. They respond heroically because they have no choice; they are not heroes; their motivation is necessity. They had a bad season, made one last risky journey, and ventured beyond the familiar Grand Banks fishing grounds to the perilous Flemish Cap. Quentin, the salty old dog who sits at the bar in Gloucester and offers color commentary, fills us in: "I was last there in '62." There are a lot of fish. There is a lot of weather.” They have good fortune: A swordfish catch weighing 60,000 pounds. And disaster strikes: the ice machine fails. If they return to port soon, the catch will spoil. A storm is brewing, according to reports. Billy lays out their options: "We can either hang out here or say screw it and drive on through." The crew decides to ride out the storm and earn their paychecks. Of course, they have no idea how severe the storm is, and when another fishing boat skipper, Linda Greenlaw, attempts to inform them, their antenna has blown overboard. Scenes at sea compete with scenes in the pub, which appears to be frequented by the majority of the Gloucester fishing industry and is conveniently situated right at the end of the dock. This is about right; I have no doubt that during a hurricane, the owners, retired sailors, mothers, girlfriends, and drinking buddies all stand watch in a saloon, ordering rounds and watching the Weather Channel. There are fantastic set pieces even before the hurricane, such as when Murph is yanked overboard by a fishing line and two men dive in to save him (Sully, his enemy, is the first in the water). The ordeal of two ships trapped in a storm, however, is at the heart of the film. The skipper tries to cut loose and anchor as the men of the Andrea Gail fight wearily against their fate. He clings to a swaying beam while carrying an acetylene torch; it's a miracle he doesn't burn a hole in himself in the process. The parallel story involving a Coast Guard rescue of the sailboat is even more thrilling. A passenger (Cherry Jones) begs the ship's owner (Bob Gunton) to take the ship to safer waters, but he is a pigheaded millionaire yachtsman with little regard for nature. A helicopter rescue is attempted, and the tension increases as the chopper attempts to continue to the Andrea Gail, a mid-air refueling is attempted, and finally men risk their lives in what appears to be a doomed battle (at one point, a Guardsman who is safe goes back into the sea after a crew mate). We understand mentally that we are watching special effects. Tanks and wind turbines are included, as well as computer graphics and models. This isn't important. The story's momentum propels us forward, and by the end of the film, I was drained. It's possible to condemn the shady characters, but doing so is pointless. The film portrays the harrowing experience of battling for your life in a small boat in a massive storm. If that's what you're looking for, you'll see it done just as good as it can be done here.
V. Reaction  The first time I watched the movie “The Perfect Storm,” I felt happy and relaxed because I saw people out there excited to see their love once again, but by the middle of the film, I started to feel weird and anxious about what would happen to the fisherman's. Before the hurricane struck, I was anxious and shocked at how unpredictable my reaction was. It occurred to me that what if I encountered something similar to that hurricane? I thought my tears would fall before the boat sunk and the six fisherman were lost and dead, but I only suppressed them. Hands down to the cast and director, this is one of the best movies for anybody who wants to cross the sea to see what life is like for fishermen.
VI. Lessons Learned The movie "The Perfect Storm" taught me that none of us know if we would be alive tomorrow. Life is too short to not make the most of each day. Take some time each day to focus on how fortunate you are to be alive. Don't be afraid to pursue your passions; you could just save someone's life one day. Life is full of surprises and ups and downs, but note that you never know what tomorrow will bring.

intrigue
     / ɪnˈtriːɡ /  | verb
   1. arouse the curiosity or interest of; fascinate.
Escaping from her Garde responsabilities was unusual and extremely IMMATURE from her side; futhermore, her close position to leaders due her brilliance and composed nature borderline being qualified to occupy a leader position on her own didn’t quite help nor EXCUSED her behavior.
   Yet.
After all the chaos that had been taking place the past weeks, the nymph isolated from everyone she was acquaintances with or  assumed  shared a close bond with, to hide on a cliff far away from the C.Q and the city—in need of P E A C E.
That’s all she asked for, at this point of time. She was sitting down indifferent at the possibility of falling, chin rested atop her knees that she hugged them closer to her chest, making herself as small as possible.
Eyes stared at the vast horizon laid in front of her, waves moving ever so slowly. She always thought the sea had an hypnotizing effect from close that could make one stand on their feet, contemplating how the sand would sink bit by bit one’s figure. Unable to move, being controlled by waves and soothing breeze. The faint wind driving one to close their eyes with its gentle caresses.
But Allison wasn’t close enough to be lured with that effect, from her position all she could think was one word: b e a t i f u l. Albeit observing the landscape lasted shorter than expected due finding herself staring at a hawk? Soon turn into a complete different animal.
   That—!
Tumblr media
“A shapeshifter?!” Were her first and rather foolish words in surprise before she stood up, perhaps, way too quickly from her current position which almost caused her to trip, Allison chose to slap lightly her cheeks to react. Once she regained balance, her mind was working twice the speed as normal as she TRIED to recall all species or magical objects that could possess such hability—there weren’t many, and she had an idea of WHO could it be.
Regardless of a suspect in her mind behind those actions, she remained in silence.

15 a quick kiss
thank you sm for the prompt!
nearly drowned for such a silly thing
Kirkwall Gang w Isabela x Allison Hawke kind of a little bit somewhere near the beginning of Act III
Corff has never been shy about shooing them off at closing time.
Tonight, however, ale has flowed arguably overmuch and Varric has never seen Merrill, or Sebastian get so worked up over a sleight of hand from Isabela. Rematch, after rematch of Wicked Grace, and no one has gotten the jump on her quick hands even once. Anders, who has the best record at catching her in the act, is too exhausted on this particular evening to pay too much attention to anyone who isn’t yelling.
They are all taking turns yelling, tonight.
They are all shaking with laughter between words.
Merrill and Isabela seem to have struck some sort of alliance and are working against Sebastian and Allison. Merrill doesn't have the Pirate’s knack for subtlety, so when she pointedly hands a card from where it had been tucked in her sleeve to Isabela, Sebastian and Allison and Varric and Fenris are quick to rise from their seats, outraged.
“Absolutely not-“
“You will not-“
“Daisy, for crying out loud-“
“Not a chance-“
“Will you lot get out!” Corff bellows over them.
Allison finally looks up at the tavern around them to see that they are, in fact, the last ones there. Again.
Half-hearted apologies between giggling sees them out the front door into to the warm, if not damp night air.
They form a loop just in front of the Hanged Man, huddled close to keep voices soft for the hour. This is Varric and Isabela’s stop, and the journey to safely see each of her friends home is necessary, if daunting. They have all—save Sebastian and Anders—imbibed and Allison feels comfortably unknotted. She throws two arms around the closest shoulders which Merrill and Varric happily fold into.
“Right, who’s staying at mine?” She asks. Tries to make it sound casual, and assumptive though endearing. Tries not to sound anxious.
They chatter about for a moment, measuring the idea, and Allison does not weigh in. Tries not to look afraid. Please, her mind supplies.
Isabela says nothing until the conversation slows, and sighs.
“I’ll stay the night, of course. I’m the last to be dropped off; it’d be horribly inconvenient for you.”
With a few eye rolls and a laugh here and there they depart. Allison holds Isabela behind for only a moment to lace their fingers, and kiss the back of her friends’ hand.
“Thank you,” She whispers. Isabela says nothing, kisses hers right back.

28. If someone were to draw a piece of fanart for your story, which story would it be and what would the picture be of?
