Ongoing Series - Thai

I Feel You Linger in the Air (Fri grey) ep 4 of 12 - Well that’s one way to find out if he’s gay, see how he reacts to reading a het sex scene out loud. Yai is flirting so hard it’s like he knows everything. 

Dangerous Romance (Fri YT) ep 4 of 12 - Oh no! I love them. Also cohabitation trope! Also ALL the other ones: hair dry, meet in childhood... GMMTV going no frills with this one.

Hidden Agenda (Sun YT) ep 9 of 12 - Zo’s drama over Pat helping Joke flirt seems awfully manufactured. I’m losing faith in this show. Could GMMTV PLEASE hand JoongDunk a decent script? 

Only Friends (Sat YT) ep 5 of 10 - Sand & Ray are the only interesting couple, and I’m pretty much only watching for them. They gonna go south fast, tho, and they're already ruined by persistent singing. Ooo. When Sand said Top "stole his ex" did he mean Boston? How gay. 

Naughty Babe (Sat YT) ep 2 of 8 - The pronoun conversation had a bonkers translation but I enjoyed the actuality of it. The reasons for Yi's trickery are very convoluted soap opera. But I suppose that is the amnesia trope for you. 

Be Mine Super Star (Mon Viki) ep 10 of 12 - Boys. We discussed this already. No sex in onsens! I found this one dull, until the end when LLS showed up. Happy to just have him in everything. Thank you Thailand. Looks like it is a classic ep 11 DOOM next week. Who cares? 

Venus in the Sky (Tues iQIYI) 1-2 of 10 eps - The usual Thai pulp claptrap this time a reunion romances in and around a convenience store between a boy who recently quit his job and his former bestie who is now a doctor. Mostly not great acting, plot, or production but the sound is okay and no bad effects or singing (so far), so that’s something. The gay brothers have a fun relationship. It’s vampy and campy but fun. I like it but not sure anyone else would.

Love in Translation (Sat iQIYI) ep 4 of 10 - The date was cute but I still don’t like the lead or the premise (we moved into Cyrano de Bergerac territory). It’s moving slowly but it seems like we might be over the crush/stalker part of the narrative, so that’s a relief. 

Crazy Handsome Rich (Sun Gaga) ep 2 of 10 - I just can’t. The sound is too weird. With punch down humor and other issues incoming I may DNF this. You’ve been warned. This ep we got to see LLS with his shirt off. Did anything else happen? 

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Jun & Jun (Korea Thur Viki) ep 8fin - No wonder he is everyone’s favorite hyung, boy can read the room like no one else. I love that we got to see exactly how clingy and demanding Choi Jun was always going to be. Only Lee Jun is easy-going enough to put up with him. Also I’ve never watched a KBL with more innuendo. For Korea this was… raunchy. I gotta say had Laws of Attraction not come along, Simon might have been my favorite character of 2023.

Final thoughts on Jun and Jun:

A delightful office romance about an ex-idol who joins cubical life only to find his new boss is his first love. Others boys are sniffing around too. Operative word being "sniffing" as much of this romance involves smell. With a snappy script, enjoyable sides, a pretty as peaches cast, and descent chemistry this show made up for in style what it lacked in substance. I like fluff. I loved this. I smiled every moment I was watching. With tons of rewatch potential (especially the last few eps), my only caution is this is for fans of the BL genre only, I don’t think it’ll work for anyone else. A solid 9/10 from me. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I like that Korea is trying high heat, but Taiwan and Thailand are leaps and bounds better at it.

Love Class Season 2 (Korea Fri Viki) eps 9-10fin -

Omg they so cute as flirty bf. Eeeeeeee! CAMEO!!!!! My fav guest couple ever! So exciting!!!! I love that they intersected with MY Strongberry couple (Private Lessons). I’m not used to this but Holy innuendo Korea, what with Jun & Jun and now this show? It’s a bit much for my gay little heart. The final episode was entirely unnecessary, but it was fun to see them being all domestic and stuff. Maru with his dumb lettuce leaves was hilarious. I feel like I need to rewatch this one to really understand it properly, so I will likely do that soon.

Summary of Love Class 2:

3 couples form within a semester of university: 1. a hyung romance reunion of exes, one of whom has a dangerous past, 2. a friends to lovers romance, and 3. a mature student and TA one night stand + complexities (many aspects of which had me laughing). I enjoyed the characters and dialogue of this show immensely. It was a little bit more breezy and friendly than I was expecting after the first installment, Love Class. I’m not entirely sure Korea can handle multiple couples like this because it definitely felt disjointed, especially the 3rd more mature couple (also my favorite) who probably should’ve had their own series. But it was definitely fun and something different from Korea. 8/10 RECOMMENDED

Also, Korea tried to give us higher heat... that was... interesting. I mean, you tried hon...?

Kisseki: Dear to Me (Taiwan Tues Viki & iQIYI) ep 4 of 13(?) - Everyone is a sad sack this ep. Ooooo. Teach/student my favorite. We never get this one. It’s messy. I’m not sure if there is a plot. I’m not sure they’re sure if there is a plot. But I am still enjoying it.

Why R U? (Korea Wed iQIYI) eps 5-6 of 8 - Why is the Fighter character always so frustrating regardless of name or country? Ji Oh stalking his crush via IG is so relatable. He’s very first crush awkward, unsure, and sweet. They also gave a nice kiss - I love the backpack drop (kiss version of a mic drop?) I still hold that if you haven’t seen the original this might not make much sense. But I am enjoying it. 

My Personal Weatherman AKA Taikan Yoho (Japan Sat Gaga) ep 4 of 8 - Oh goody, another JBL where we have to pay attention solely to what they do and not what they say. 

Minato's Laundromat Season 2 AKA Minato Shouji Coin Laundry Season 2 (Japan Thu Gaga) ep 9 of 12 - Big fat sigh. 

It's Airing But...

My Universe (Sun iQIYI) ep 3 of 24 eps - I couldn't get hold of it and I'm not mad. I'm putting it on hold until distribution gets sorted, or icky get their shizz in order (like that'll happen).

9/15 Bump Up Business AKA Bump Up Project (Korea movie) suspected cinema release? I don't know much about what's going on. Last status update. Love story between a trainee who is about to debut and a celebrity from the same agency. Kpop boy group OnlyOneOf has signed up to star in this idol-based BL (based on a webtoon). They’ve been auditioning for this since Libido IMHO. You can watch me chronicle their BL MV series in this post. It’s from Idol Romance who will do sad but can do good kisses (Wish You, Nobleman Ryu, Once Again, Kissable Lips, Poongduck 304, Tasty Florida, Tinted With You).

9/26 I Cannot Reach You AKA I Can't Reach You AKA Kimi ni wa Todokanai (Japan ????) - Adapted from the manga, childhood best friends: The cool, smart one who’s good at everything, and his average, dorky friend who struggles. Always by the other’s side, but not together in the way they truly want to be. No matter how hard they try, their hearts cannot reach each other.

9/27 Absolute Zero (Thai iQIYI) - from 2021, Studio Wabi Sabi and New Siwaj finally bring us this “time loop to prevent tragedy” romance. We don’t always get HEAs from them, so I'm on my guard.

9/27 Bon Appetit (Korea iQIYI) - from 2022, 8 eps from GoGo Studio, romance between an office worker who lives off junk food and the man next door who cooks well.

9/? Mr Cinderella 2 (Vietnam YouTube?)

A lot of times the problem with these het ships is just, that there is an incredible lack of balance in it that almost feels toxic.

And i don't mean dark fiction or anything, i mean fiction that wants you to see them as a good couple.

Like in bnha, again. Iz///ocha has an inbalance over the fact that for it to go forward, it is completely reliant on Ochako, and whatever she decides to do with her feelings.

Which makes her the only one that ever puts the effort into her crush, even if it ends up not actually moving forward, she still the one who's ever confronted with them.

And Izuku never does anything to respond or even indicate that he feels the same. Frankly, if he was to suddendly show that he loves her, that would just make him look like an intruder. Or maybe even imply "now that everything's over, here's your prize, hero!"

While IzuOcha is a popular ship, it's also not compared to BakuDeku and even TogaOcha got some growth over it.

It's not because "het is ew" because I have crossed other shippers who are okay with IzuOcha and/or have other M/F ships they like (I myself like KiriMina).

It's because it is underdeveloped and one-sided.

Izuku reacts to Ochako the same way he has with every other girl. Any time there's crush talk, it's only from Ochako's side. Nothing from Izuku, at all. He compliments her, but it came off more like a bestie hyping you up after you say something self-deprecating than actual "Hey, I like you, let's go out".

To be honest, I don't even think Horikoshi intended for IzuOcha to be seen a ship for people to root for. I don't think he actually ever cares for it because if he really wanted to, he could have made it more balanced. I say this because look at M/F pairings like KiriMina and KamiJiro.

They're more minor than IzuOcha are and yet for both pairings there's a lot more balance between them. Even by design!

I totally agree with you on that last bit.

If Izuku suddenly goes "Hey, I love you" or even after winning there's suddenly them hooking up, it will come off as Ochako being some prize because, again, Izuku hadn't shown romantic interest in her like that.

It's funny to me that some people will "BakuDeku are like brothers" but then turn around and want to apply the same tropes and scenarios that BkDk have been through to their ship romantically.

Example, there were people who actually want AFO!Shigaraki to attack Ochako next just so Izuku could save her. This was during the time when everyone was brought in through those portals into the same area.

When I was so agitated about that because one, you really want someone to potentially get killed just for a "shippy" moment? I DIDN'T LIKE SHIGARAKI ATTACKING BAKUGOU LIKE THAT!! Two, so Ochako couldn't be dealing with her situation without any inference? Like she really need to be put in a damsel situation and not be a hero? Because that's how it came off to me.

Look, I myself have ships, but at the end of the day when it comes to the main goal of a lot of these characters?

The last thing any of them really want is romance. If no ship becomes canon I am so okay with that.

A lot of these characters, especially characters like Izuku, Ochako, and Katsuki want to be the best heroes they can be. They want to save people, make them smile, be the best. That was their goal when they chose (and got to) attend UA.

I don't recall Ochako saying "I'm attending UA to get a boyfriend!"

So why reduce her to that? She did not look at Izuku on their first meeting and decided "I'm going to UA to be his wife". I thought she wanted to be a hero so she can make people smile and provide for her parents. Am I wrong? Did I miss something? Did I watch and read a different version of BNHA?

Do I even have to explain the matching shirts- the color, collar, button up? Both Wheelers are just trying to make those awful het relationships work to the bitter end . Mike for 2 straight seasons is trying to pull a Ted and mirror him (we see it symbolically through the aqua shirts). They even had Mike in s3 wear matching outfits to both his parents too (karen and him wore those matching yellow shirts) for a reason.

Mike is probably trying to emulate his parents' relationship- completely oblivious to the fact they're miserable together. And are just faking their romantic relationship. Wow sounds familiar.

In s4 eddie even comments about conformity: and how mike just wears clothes his mother got him from the Gap. The Gap store is something el actually brought up in s3 to Mike. And for 2 straight seasons his parents support m*leven (without even meeting El). Cause well she's a girl ... good enough for them , I guess?? They don't even need to meet her to support it?

Eddie mentions how Mike can't even pick his own clothes- he just wears what his parents want. And his parents also "like/want" m*leven... cause boy/girl. So yeah mike mirroring his romance with el (and basing it off his parents' "romance" isn't that far fethed). And him thinking m*leven is best because it fits what his parents want (isn't that farfetched either).The most authentically mike dressed in s4 - was when he decided up to join the hellfire d&d club (showing he wasn't afraid to be seen as different, but also showing how he -in s3-was faking not wanting to play d&d with Will- in favor of El). But then bam he's back to conforming- wearing California clothes to impress el and wearing a ted shirt during his love confession to El. But , the fact mike can't even choose his own clothing (all of s4) reminds me of how El initially couldn't choose her own clothes because she "doesn't know what she likes". Mike probably doesn't know what he (romantically) likes either- he's just emulating what others want /do.

For 2 straight seasons (while specifically struggling to date el) Mike dresses like ted (with that aqua shirt). Even though ted and karen don't romantically love eachother : they stick to that awful relationship cause deep down they're probably scared to lose the stability that is associated with being with someone for so long,and how others would view them negatively if they broke up...and decided to find someonelse instead.

Also others have pointed out the whole s4 shirt triangle thing. On mike's left chest pocket (is a triangle) where his heart would be located -and it's usually pointing to Will.

Heck, in s4,we even have the clothing designers say they dressed el in Will's (plaid)clothes to make the resemblance between Willel more apparent. Plus, they literally have el dress in a shirt that says strawberry. She dumped mike when she was holding strawberry icecream in s3.

Not only the clothing designers but even other writers parallel m*leven to ted/karen in s1-4 via dialogue. It would theoretically indicate m*leven's future if they went the "expected romantic path" together. Even if ted/karen did care for eachother in the past- its become a negative realtionship for both of them because they're forcing the romantic relationship (when it just doesn't work). And mike (unlike Nancy) is probably oblivious to the fact his parents aren't happy together . So like - either the duffers will retcon karen/ted to magically work as a couple, or just ignore the parallels they set up to make m*leven float to the bitter end. Or it hopefully means something naratively.

Ted at dinner to karen (food in mouth) : what did I do ? What did I do?

Mike after being dumped by el (food in mouth): what did I do wrong? What did I do wrong?

Both Karen, and El leaving the dinner table after being annoyed by ted/Mike's words. And ted and mike sip their drinks instead of going after them.

Mike to el In s1: that's my dad's chair he sleeps in it sometimes. You can sit there if you want. * s3 ted sleeping in that same chair as karen watches him. Lyric : I should have walked away.

Her and frenkie's love life had been quite private but after a picture of the two together on the beach got leaked, everything changed. Luckily for her, her face didn't show. The only thing they could see was what they knew as a random girl, laying on frenkie's chest as he hugged onto her body.

As soon as she saw the comment she immediately tapped the Notification Center and saw that already over thousands of people had followed her.

No, no, no. That wasn't supposed too happen. She thought too herself, panic washing over her.

While all of this happened frenkie was out for a photo shoot for the new Barcelona kit. But even if he was there it's not like he could've done anything about it.

Was it a good idea too set her profile to private now? Or was it too late? She had know idea what too do so she decided too call one of her best friend Taia, raphinia's girlfriend.

She picked up after three rings.

"Hey babes, what's up?"  Natalia's sweet voice rang through her ears, it was sort of comforting

"Hi taia, have you seen frenkie's post?" She asked the Brazilian as she sat down on her and frenkie's bed.

"No? Let me check it out real quick" There was a little pause of silence as taia checked the post, viewing some of the comments as well.

"Oh babes...I'm sorry. I know you didn't want to be very public" Taia smiled sadly over the camera.

"But...what should I do? I mean, I thought of maybe setting it too private, but I feel like that would be too late now..." She sighed.

"It's not too late, you can just remove the followers, though that might take a while" Taia quickly realized how long that might take.

"But I still think it might be a good idea, you can always take breaks from removing them" Taia shrugged.

She decided too go clear her head a little and took a long shower. Self care never fails too make a person feel better.

The comments went on and on about her appearance and that frenkie was probably with her because he felt bad and that he was probably cheating on her. But the worst was probably the ones that told her too kill herself.

She didn't know what too do, everything just felt wrong. Had frenkie seen them? Probably not, he wasn't too active on Insta and since it wasn't under his post the worst comment was, he hadn't got any notifications.

As she continued reading the comments, she hadn't even noticed tears rolling down her face. A loud sob escaped her mouth as she buried her head in frenkie's pillow. It smelled so much like him.

She always felt comforted around him so just smelling his scent made her body ease up a tiny bit. But still she didn't understand why they were so mean. She started questioning everything they were saying.

Did she really look that ugly? Was she not good enough? Was she not good enough for frenkie? Should she really consider killing herself? What did frenkie see in her? After all she was just a normal girl, with a normal life.

All these thoughts flooded her mind, she hadn't noticed the door downstairs had been shut. That wasn't until she heard footsteps coming into the bedroom.

Luckily for her, he couldn't see her face since it was literally buried in the pillow, so she hoped the tears would stop. Sadly Hope wasn't on her side this time.

"Hey prinses" Frenkie's soft voice made her want to cry even more. (Princess)

"Hi kie" She mumbled in the pillow her voice sore. 

"You feeling okey? Are you sick? C'mere let me feel your forehead" He panicked immediately hearing how hoarse her voice was, and he knew how much she hated being sick.

"No,no I'm okey" She mumbled again but it was too late, he had already turned her over so he could feel her forehead.

Once frenkie saw her tear stained face, a frowned made its way onto his face.

"Prinses, what's the matter, why are you crying?" He asked, his voice filled with concerned. He sat down on the side of the bed as his hand moved up too her cheek and caressing it softly. (Princess)

She couldn't say anything, if she did she would just start sobbing. And she didn't want too look so weak in front of him, not that he hadn't seen her cry a numerous times already.

"Baby, talk too me" His thumb rubbed her cheeks gently, as his other hand removed some of the hair that was sticking too her wet cheeks due too the tears.

As soon as she opened her mouth too say anything a sob left her mouth.

Frenkie didn't say anything, he just laid down besides her and pulled her body into his own. He caressed the back of her head into his chest, letting her cry.

His heart broke seeing her so vulnerable.

"Shh, it's okey liefje. It's all gonna be okey" He ran his fingers through her soft hair. (Sweetheart)

"Shh, I just need my pretty girl too breath okey? Can you do that for me?" He asked her softly as he kissed her head multiple times.

He continued his actions as she inhaled his scent deeply before exhaling again, then repeating it until she had calmed down.

"You ready too talk schatje?" He moved her head gently up from his chest so he could see her face. (Cutie)

"I'm sorry" She wasn't quite sure what she was apologizing for, it was just a random habit she had.

"Don't be sorry" His lips brushed her forehead softly his thumb rubbing soothing circles on her cheek. His actions made her sleepy as well as already being tired from all the crying.

She laid her head down against his chest again and as Frenkie continued stroking her cheek she fell into a deep slumber.

The next morning she had just excused herself, telling him that she had the worst migraine ever. And he believed her seeing as she often had those types of migraines. He had just brushed it off until about a week later.

The two were just laying in bed cuddling. Both scrolling through their phone. She couldn't seem too get a break, they just loved hating on her.

Her grip on frenkie's hoodie tightened, this didn't go unnoticed by him.

She didn't answer him though, she stayed silent as the tears slowly stopped falling as he ran his hand up and down her spine, his movements calling her ever so slightly.

"Your fans, they're so mean" She repeated, biting the inside of her cheek.

She just gave him her phone. He took it and scrolled through the comments. He was shocked too say the least. He didn't expect people too be so rude too his girlfriend, especially not with how sweet she was.

Favorite thing about them: HER EXISTING. The fact that she's one (1) fleshed out female character and for one I will love her for that. I also generally really like the trope of little girls facing unimaginable horrors and defeating them, it gives me hope. The fact that she was able to get out of an abusive environment by her own forces is very inspiring, too. More Kyouka love words here.

Least favorite thing about them: I feel I'm cheating at this with always mentioning things that are really not about the character but rather about the way they fit in the story but... I'm very disappointed when the author flat out forgets about her. 55 Minutes and the whole airport arc. I've said it before but I really wish she would have intervened during the Atsushi / Akutagawa airport fight because what were she and Yosano and Lucy doing the entire time. In general, I wish we'd see her more outside of her relationship with Atsushi which I LOVE but that is starting to feel quite limiting of her right now.

Eheh. It's been this blog title since day one. brOTP: I LOVE LOVE LOVE HER RELATIONSHIP WITH ATSUSHI. It's really one of my favourite things. I think Kyouka is about the only person Atsushi truly cares about beyond his own selfishness and it's really heartwarming. They make each other's lives better every day and comfort each other that they're good people capable of doing good. I also think Kyouka really helps Atsushi in the way she's so blunt and straightforward, she helps him overcome his insecurities and second-guessing everything; she's a reassuring presence for him because he knows she wouldn't lie to him. And Atsushi allows her to be a child, and it's so sweet!!! They need each other in a lot of ways and they're so perfect for each other. Platonic soulmates fr. I also really like her relationship with Kenji, that too is so wholesome, I'm happy she has someone her same age she can do 14 y/os things with!!! Oh and I LOVE her relationship with Lucy, they're so much fun in their low-key animosity but I like to think they truly care about each other and that Lucy fully took Kyouka on as her annoying little sister she wouldn't hesitate to die for. AND the potential of Kyouka and Yosano, AND Fukuzawa. AND Akutagawa and Kouyou (more as like, relationships to explore rather than think they'd actually get along). I think about Kyouka's relationships with other characters a lot lol.

OTP: You know I'm fully convinced I would have been a full flagged Kyouka/Kenji supporter if only they were a little older, but the way I can really only think of them as children kinda makes it hard for me to say I ship them just because personally I don't really like to imagine them in a romantic picture in general (个_个) It's a shame because again I know what I like and this kind of sun/moon coded het ship is something I would have been really into ;;

nOTP: Likely Kyouka and Kenji for the reasons mentioned above :// It's just something I noticed I'm not very into when it's brought up in ss/kk fics. That said, it's not like I have any strong feeling against it either.

Random headcanon: About that, I really like to think she and Kenji are going to be partners when they're older.

Unpopular opinion: Not sure this goes here but right now I can't think of anything else– I do think that in the early chapters of the manga there was some level of writing Kyouka like she was Atsushi's love interest. Overall I think the manga verges way less in the “siblings” direction than the “eventually couple to-be living together” direction than the fandom makes it to be (I don't think they were ever directly associated to siblings in the manga, like, ever? I don't remember Atsushi ever saying he sees Kyouka as a little sister or something in those lines). Which I personally do not like, but in my reading interpretation that's the direction the manga was going for. That's why the chapter 15 opening is extremely distasteful to me, it really feels like pushing forward the stereotype of little dainty young house wife waking up early to prepare breackfast for her husband... And the way we know she's so young makes it downright disturbing. (But again, that's only as far as my understanding of the manga goes, feel free to disagree with me on this).

Is anywhere else doing a sapphic route. I'm so bored that I feel like crying. All het players are exploring their options. Not only are the writers making it seem like my MC is playing the game but I have to watch my LI with someone else for months. Why is it that seasons that treat sapphic players poorly always happen to be fan favourites? I really wish the fandom could have our backs at least once mate. Literally nobody seems to care that LGBT players are getting forked over again. Can't we have a female LI appreciation month or something?

i've seen a few people who are doing claudia/bea routes! i love claud but i do hate how the game treats MC like a hoe for pursuing her when i have been loyal...to her . not to mention all the dialogue about theo & OG LI/casa guy getting pissed off every single time i flirt with her during challenges . it's getting old

there's only 9 episodes left, today's recoupling should've been a chance to actually get with the LI we want . instead we're forced to be with OG LI (or casa guy) all while he's being like "i know you have a thing with claudia...🥺" (i miss season 3 more than ever, being able to couple up with a girl in the second recoupling was amazing, should've been the standard going forward. idk why FB decided to regress)

heavy on the boredom. over half of the drama is centered around OG LI & MC . i think the only way i could make it possibly clearer i don't want him is to dive into the code & rewrite the damn game myself. and don't even get me started on sienna

with the amount of times the game prompts you to choose your "main LI," she could've easily been a bi rival that grafts on whoever you chose (like how valentina can take najuma on a date, not just the guys) of course that wouldn't fix her being annoying and one-dimensional, but at least i'd actually have a reason to care.

(it sucks that wlw players already have so few options to begin with, only to be further limited by having to choose one, way before you have to lock in a male LI . in one of my volume recaps i mentioned how the game was already forcing us to choose between claudia and bea)

i think this season is great if you're on a loyal OG LI route (or just burning the villa lol) and at this point it's just unpleasant for literally anyone else. i wish the same, & i try to call out anything "problematic," idk a better word for it, basically FB's piss poor representation of LGBT and islanders of colour. but i'm only one person, and unfortunately a lot of the fandom has more smoke for sienna than anything

and i think that lack of pressure put on FB to do better is why they're perfectly content with screwing over wlw players (not to mention i've seen some people who shrug it off as "well the show is based on straight couples!🤷🏽" ... even though the game barely follows the show anymore, but i digress)

i just hope that theo romancers (& ppl that wanted their casa LI but got stuck with their OG) who are rightfully mad as well are enough for FB to realise how stupid of a decision this was. being extremely generous and assuming the final recoupling is gonna be right at the beginning in the next episode...we'll have, at most, 9 episodes to be in an official couple with our LI. almost 1/5th of the entire season 🙄🙄🙄

Mileven - a currently canon het ship from the Stranger Things fandom between Michael (Mike) Wheeler and Jane (Eleven) Ives/Hopper/Byers/IDK

12 years old girl raised in a lab is thrown in a relationship with the first boy she ever meets. They constantly fight, lie to each other and develop a unhealthy co-dependent bond. The boy has a close ambiguous relationship with his male best friend which leads a good part of the fandom thinking that he is actually gay. People who stan this ship constantly throw homophobic slurs to this male best friend and some even argue that they hope he dies of AIDS next season

Where do I even begin. I do not care what anyone says the chemistry is not there. Another cog in the Should Have Never Been Written As A Couple machine. What made them cute in earlier seasons was their platonic dynamic and Mike's kindhearted nature to help her. It is hilarious this is apparently their "flagship" and "main" couple when they have the least amount of chemistry and the poorest written out of the others. They are not their best selves together, not only hurting themselves, but the people around them. Mostly Will, which is clear as day in Season 4. At the end of Season 4 I am so to the nth tired of the same shit different shovel with them. I am probably too gay to see The Vision fans of them see, but I do have eyes and it looks to me like they've been slowly crumbling. There is no foundation for their relationship they were barley friends a week before Mike kissed her and then she vanished for a year. They maybe had a little bit of interaction between closing the Gate and Snow Ball. Kissed again. Then spent all summer making out and ditching their friends until El comically broke up with him. Their relationship is exhausting to watch. The drama eats up too much screen time. I am tired of watching them hurting themselves staying together. There is no meaningful conversations since maybe Season 2. In Season 4 what could have been one ended poorly and the other interrupted comically. They've dragged out the Mike saying "I love you" story line, seemingly concluding it while El was being strangled in a Mind Scape trying to save Max who was also in said Mind Scape being slowly to tortured to death. Said confession prompted by using Will's own veiled confession disguised as El's an episode earlier. Plus Will using his own words to encourage Mike to help her. He did to help her, but that was painful to watch there was so much going on! Then they expect me to believe they're better than ever afterwards when there is nothing to indicate that? I need them to break up please free them. Free me. I am over it bro.

My propaganda is *drum roll*. Season 4. That's it. I am putting faith in the other haters to submit something coherent. I do not have the energy unfortunately. It is shit now, but would be even more shit if they finish the show endgame. I do not care about them. I want focus on the supernatural plot!! I want focus on characters and conversations that don't revolve around or circle to their relationship! I don't want to see another character to become a mouth peice for Opening Their Eyes and What Really Matters and they'll "Work out." I am exhausted of third parties putting more effort into Mileven than Mike and El themselves. I want them to be their own people because they come off miserable together. They both vocalize their pain and no one that ships them cares! I have never in my years of watching shows have seen such a terrible,boring and annoying couple championed as much as Mileven. Every other canon couple in the show is miles better, yet are over shadowed. They are holding together by Elmer's glue and popsicle sticks. Them being boyfriend and girlfriend means nothing to me when the chemistry is not there. Final propaganda- Most of the more vocal fans are homophobic and go out of their way to harass others.

Two incredibly written characters that have so much potential outside of a relationship. seriously their relationship is absolutely erasing all and any personality that the show gave them separately. That and they're just incredibly toxic, el literally met mike almost first thing after living in a lab her entire life, she has no reason to start a romantic relationship, especially at that age. mike is also super insecure, and using el's love towards him to ease said insecurities. incredibly unhealthy on both sides how this became the main ship of the show absolutely BAFFLES the fuck out of me

Four ships:

Zeus/Ganymede: feel like it'd be a crime not to start here, haha. I've always been into mythology, but randomly thinking about Ganymede's myth a couple years ago now (that long!!) got me wanting to read Greek myth stuff, and I started with the Iliad (for the Trojan-related angle) and the Bibliotheke, and so. I might currently be more focused elsewhere but this is still my beloved ship <3 You can do so much with them, and, especially, I'd say, by interpreting them as mutually in love. There's obviously other m/m couples in Greek myth and even one of those that at first looks tragic doesn't need to end that way (Apollo/Hyacinthus) but there are so many reasons Zeus/Ganymede is the one that has me by the throat.

Menelaos/Paris: Honestly, looking back I'm not quite sure how I didn't zero in on this one from reading the Iliad itself the first time, because this is definitely one of the flavours of ships I love. This ship is also what led to, first, Helen/Menelaos/Paris for me and then Helen/Paris, because 99% of the time I just don't care at all about het ships. This ship is also why I currently am like I am about Paris! Make no mistake, I didn't hate or dislike him before that, either, like the majority of Tumblr (and elsewhere) seem to do; reading the Iliad I mostly thought him kinda hapless and inoffensive, so going from there and liking him wasn't that big of a step. The possibility of them having bonded during those nine days in Sparta (or in Troy!), going from friends (or more) to enemies with complicated feelings still in the background is just so damn juicy to me.

Carmilla/Laura: original novella flavour! One day I hope to do a rewrite/retelling of my own, that would definitely end with Laura going or otherwise together with Carmilla, one way or another. The way Carmilla talks to/about Laura and what they feel for each other is just. so great. The caterpillar quote. The one about Laura loving her or hating her, and especially "love will have its sacrifices; no sacrifice without blood". And you know. The boob-biting to feed is extremely inspired and very hot, even if Le Fanu undoubtedly didn't mean it that way. I don't care. They're mine now. :)

Darth Vader & Luke Skywalker: Since I am so deeply into gen&family ships aside from romantic/sexual shipping, it feels, again, like a crime not to mention these two. The ST might have broken the back of my fannish engagement in SW currently, but these two? I love them. I love Luke's impossible and earnest belief in his father's inherent goodness, I love that fucking scene at the end of ESB where Vader reaches out and Luke reflexively, despite everything, says 'father?' HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE IT???

Last song: Oh, uhh... I don't remember, but it's possible it was Teeth by 5 Seconds of Summer (happens to be one of my Helen/Paris songs for late war lol). I end up listening to a row of songs while drawing, sometimes (which is the only time I can listen to music and actually do something else at the same time), but it could have been another one, just as well.

Currently reading: Iliaden - en cover, by Dimitrios Iordanoglou, which is a (pretty heavily, sometimes) abridged and modernized version of the Iliad where the language is extremely slangy sometimes and the setting has been moved into "present day". Everyone uses guns and stuff. Apollo's main epithet is now "the Bomber" lol and he uses bombs and grenades. It's both extremely fun(ny) and really interesting, even if the language used sometimes make me wince even when I get why he's chosen it. But it's exactly because I know the changes he's made etc. that makes it extra interesting. When he keeps lines word-for-word from the Iliad they both stick out and fit in very well and it's interesting to see that, too. Also, and much longer than the above, is Paris in the Epic Tradition : a Study in Homeric Techniques of Characterization by Roberto Nickel, his thesis from 1997! I've mentioned it before; Nickel is exploring the possibility of the Iliad having changed/presented Paris (a lot) differently from how he might have been in traditional oral epic material. It's really interesting!

Last movie: Dungeon and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves! Loved it, a lot of fun, and despite how long it was, it all moved along at a good clip, nothing dragged.

i actually wanted to make a post about how taekookers, some armys, jinkookers, yoonminers are making those tweets about as to how jm and jk enlisting through buddy program means they're not dating and how gay couples can't enlist in military without exposing themselves and i actually found this thread and IT IS hillarious specially coming from taekookers out of all people.

taekookers out of all people saying it IS funny because for years like literally years they have been wanting, hoping and waiting for tae and jk to enlist together cause years ago(and Maybe recently too) taehyung said that he's planning to enlist together with jungkook. the problem is not them holding onto that promise but the problem is them suddenly making a 180degree turn to the whole "enlisting together" thing. they all were so sure about tk's enlistmemt that they used to use that thing even in arguments. i remember having arguments with tkkrs here and there and them going "shut up you don't know anything cause tk are going to do ms TOGETHER" and i was like "okay good for them". that was way before group hiatus even. They were hoping for the same, even thought that tk gonna use companion system but as soon as the news of jm and jk going together came they suddenly don't know how to cope so they went with "I'll only belive it when more media talks about it", when more media covered the same thing they were like I'm gonna wait for dispatch (one of the captain of their ship according to tkkrs), when dispatch said the same thing they went with "I'll wait for bighit" and when bighit also confirmed the same thing they went with "there's two different notices and English version of weverse doens't say companionship so I'll wait till they enlist or I'll only belive what tae and jk says" etc etc like jeez so many excuses just to admit one simple and normal thing??? They still haven't stopped mind you cause they're still on their next excuse "my korean friend or my friend who learned korean told me that jm and jk are not together in ms and media won't say it cause they already spread the lie about them going together so they can't back off now". I'm not even lying but that is what they're doing currently.

another excuse is "jungkook wanted to go to special force with taehyung" like first things first he said"i wanted to do special force service". next is if anyone knows jungkook then you should know very well that this man is known for doing adventures things in BTS. he loves those kind of things so of course his first thought would be going for special force service but then with so many tattoes on his hands on display he might have known he would get restriction in many things. even if he didn't know about it while getting the tattos, idt it bothers him too much that he couldn't do it. now now we know jungkook can't do special force (the one where taehyung is but there's other options open for him ig) so why did taehyung didn't choose to do what jungkook is doing so he can be together with jungkook? why does none of Y'all expect anything from tae's side but always jk has to do? if jk had no options then tae had right? so why didn't he chose enlisting with jungkook?? "why would tae do that when he wants to do special force training" yeah so it's simple he chose the special force service like he wanted to (given that they had to do ms) and nothing like the delulu theories y'all made up in your head. no company is forcing two grown ass men to do anything which will affect their mental health means if being separated would have affected tk's mental health in any way (this is for the people who says "there's no sparkle in jk's eyes he's missing his taehyungie hyung", "bring back these two together", it's also funny how they think jk is unhappy without tae but they don't have any problem admitting that tae looks happy in whatever he's doing currently lol so only jk is suffering according to tkkrs) neither the company nor tk would play with their mental health if they thought being apart from e/o would take a toll on them so Accept it that both jungkook and taehyung are doing whatever they thought is best for them.

yoonminers and taekookers are two sides of the same coin so there's no need to address them separately. about jinkookers then they all think the same that gay couple won't enlist together but at the same time they think jk chose Buddy program cause that would automatically make him serve in frontline where jin is, jm knows about it so he helped jinkook and they're happy jinkook can meet e/o in ms quite contrary if you ask me.

At some point Taehyung MIGHT have talked about the enlistment with jungkook too and we might never know about it (like I'm open for this option too) but what remains as the fact is that even if jungkook couldn't join special force like tae, tae had all the options/choices to get into Buddy program with jungkook and be together till discharge yet it's jm and jk who's in ms now and nothing anyone says can change that fact. So the "tk couldn't be together because of tattoes and they had no option" is a complete lie so get over it.

using Buddy program gives you no privilege cause you're simply gonna serve in one of the most dangerous area that is frontline so it would be helpful for everyone if they they accept that the boys know what they're doing and move along with it. y'all should be happy that atleast they have someone with them to rely on in the difficult times of their life.

The Fool - lloyd. not that lloyd is a fool, but he is the blank slate, the character written to be of infinite opportunity. he can be reckless and innocent, naive and idealistic, gullible but free. even this late into the series his sense of self continues to change and evolve, never settling in a single place; the upright is young lloyd, our youthful and ignorant protagonist. the reverse is current lloyd, weighed down by the actions of not only his father, mother and uncle, but himself. his card should have 2 panels, one with babey lloyd and the other with older lloyd. maybe juggling his friends' elemental symbols, just for spice. spicy clownery.

The Magician - this is jay, hands down. i'm picking things/characters based on upright and reversed meanings, and while jay debuts as an determined and powerful character, he slips pretty quickly into the card's reverse meaning, often utilizing "manipulation, cunning, and deception" to get his way. most of the time it is subtle, as his manipulative tendencies have been slowly elaborated on over the course of the series. he can be summoning lightning or something with his card.

The High Priestess - skylor. again, the reverse is past skylor, during her brief betrayal, and the upright is present skylor, a wise ally and friend. i want her in her father's snake hat and in his chair. thank u

The Empress - misako, purely for the reverse meaning. i dont care about her so her card can be whatever

The Emperor - garmadon, same reason and also gotta match with the (ex) wifey! give my guy garm his 4 arms too pls

The Hierophant - kai. source: just trust me bro

The Lovers - pixal & zane, duh. they literally share zane's fighting skill after she receives half his heart in season 3, she and he are inseparable (re: essentially headmates) for the following 4 seasons, and are often depicted as the healthiest "het" couple in the show. they are DEVASTATED when they lose each other, their sense of balance. they're in love your honor damnit. HAVE THEM EMBRACE.

The Chariot - the bounty. mostly because it represents a home for the ninja for a good while in the show and is the only real space they can enact control and their wills on for a while. also because the significance of the bounty crashing in season 8 really encompasses the reverse meaning. just replace the chariot w the boat in the card.

Strength - cole. not just because of his super strength, but because he is the MOST compassionate and brave character in this entire goddamn show. say what you will but cole has been through death and back, dropped from a hundred story drop, lost his friends, his sensei, his best friend, AND had to resurrect his mother's legacy with his bare hands. this man has never once been shown to back down from a cause, take the coward's way out, or plain give up because he's the most tied to this ninja morality. when cole is disheartened, he takes it out on himself, gets mad at HIMSELF, never on other people like jay, kai, lloyd and even nya are prone to. give my boy a goddamn break. please let him chill w rocky in his card :) maybe give him his lava arms tho

The Hermit - WU DUH. meaning fits but also his card should have him drinking tea with a three-way split panel behind him showing off the places he found his students. good day

The Wheel of Fortune - cloud kingdom. cloud kingdom. damn those nerdy little bastards.

Summary of half a dozen Thai BLs

Now that I've watched half a dozen Thai boys' love dramas, I thought I'd sum them up for people who haven't yet watched any, and think that they may want to.

First off: I recommend ALL of these. They're ALL very gay with happy endings. They ALL have fun plots and generally good acting. (There are some actors who knock it out of the park more than others, but they're spread out over all the different shows, and some appear in more than one.) If you're only going to watch one and you don't care about genre, I'm going to say Moonlight Chicken, but if it actually matters to you what the show is about and what kind of story it is, here's a summary of them all (in the order I watched them):

Moonlight Chicken

What's it about: The owner of a diner hooks up with a customer late one night, but is hesitant to let the encounter turn into a proper relationship.

Genre: Slice of life

Watch if you enjoy: Messy characters who get tangled in relationships in different ways. Family, including found family, and multiple gay couples. A fairly realistic view of gay life in Thailand (including the impact of a lack of marriage equality), and also issues such as class, disability, and the multiple effects of the covid crisis. My first BL and still my favourite.

Gayer version of: a Mike Leigh movie

A Tale of Thousand Stars

What's it about: A rich guy who gets a heart transplant decides to make his life useful by taking up the profession the donor left behind, namely as a volunteer teacher in a remote mountain village. There to teach him the ropes is a stern forest ranger.

Genre: Classic romance

Watch if you enjoy: People who are so in love everyone can see it, but still take ages to admit it. Secrets and lies. Scenes with cute children. The same main actors as in Moonlight Chicken. Pretty boys crying/fainting/in mortal danger.

Gayer version of: The Sound of Music

Bad Buddy

What's it about: The sons of two rival families, who are also members of rival university faculties, are way more in love with each other than they're willing to admit, even to themselves.

Genre: Romcom (or romantic dramedy, it gets pretty serious at times)

Watch if you enjoy: Belligerent sexual tension. Chemistry so thick you can slice it with a knife. The couple getting together halfway through the show, and that's just the start of their troubles. Environmental issues on the side. Adorable lesbian side couple. Love songs. Metaphorical homophobia in a world with no actual homophobia.

Gayer (and happier) version of: Romeo and Juliet

He's Coming to Me

What's it about: Lonely ghost who can't seem to move on makes friends with a young boy who is the only one who can see him.

Genre: Paranormal romance with a side of murder mystery

Watch if you enjoy: Cute ghosts. The hijinks when people don't know that the ghost is there. Having your heart broken only to have it mended again. Absolute himbo main characters. Fantastic coming out scene. Surprisingly cute het side couple.

Gayer version of: Julie and the Phantoms

Not Me

What's it about: After a young activist is beaten into a coma, his twin brother secretly takes his place, trying to find out what happened.

Genre: Action-adventure with a political bent

Watch if you enjoy: Bikers doing parkour. The softest babiest man in existence trying to pass himself off as a badass. Lots of discussions about law and justice, and absolutely wrecking the lives of rich assholes. Any of the following: Enemies to lovers, lovers to enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, or friends and possibly lovers to enemies.

Gayer version of: The Parent Trap crossed with Face/Off.

The Eclipse

What's it about: Rules at a high school are strictly enforced, with threat of a "curse" against those who break it. A rebellious new recruit immediately clashes with the head of the prefect club.

Genre: High school drama, mystery

Watch if you enjoy: Aggressive flirting. Teenage rebellion. Old stuffy school being shaken up. Getting to see First and Khaotung stretch their acting muscles (they play side characters in some of the shows above). Multiple gay characters. Homophobia dealt with directly as well as indirectly.

Thess vs Refugee Issues

So apparently they're going to be rounding up as many of the refugees in this country as they can find, in kind of blitz attacks, in preparation for sending them to Rwanda. Which ... I mean ... it feels like an exaggeration to say "this feels like some Nazi bullshit" in this day and age, but the scary thing is that it's not an exaggeration.

It's getting more complicated and worse, too, because of the whole thing with Ireland being in the EU and Northern Ireland ... not. Because some have taken the risk of trying to get around how shitty the UK is being about refugees in small boats by going a little further and going to Ireland. Ireland is now saying they're going to punt them over the border into Northern Ireland because "they're not our problem", and the UK is going, "Only on the understanding that they're getting sent right back to France; hey, why don't you send them right back to France, since you're both EU?" and ... it's all too fucking complicated but people are playing this massive game of NIMBY with people who just want to live somewhere that they speak the language and won't be persecuted.

Seeing the accommodations for refugees who are sent to Rwanda ... it worries me. On one hand, it sounds pretty sweet, but ... there are a couple of issues I'm having. One - where are they getting the money for this? From us, one would assume, given that it's the UK's stupid project, so why don't they build something similar here? So I don't entirely trust it. I also don't like what I see between the lines of "They can go wherever they like; we're not keeping them incarcerated or anything!" Yes, it sounsd good, but ... like ... I feel like given Rwanda's history? They seem to be setting the stage for refugees just ... disappearing and for them to be able to say, "Well, we haven't been keeping them prisoner or anything; we're not responsible!"

I think the worst part is that the whole set-up gives one of two options for how to proceed: "We will help you live in Rwanda, or we will help you go back to your home country". Neither of those options sounds very good. Rwanda is away from friends and family, and is a strange country where they're only welcome to a point because some other government gave that country money to be rid of them, might have to learn a new language (though English is one of the languages used in Rwanda, along with French, Swahili, and Kinyarwanda, so I guess it depends on how widely English is used). Alternatively ... why the fuck would they want to go back to their home country? They risked their lives to run from it because staying there was worse!

Meanwhile, more and more refugees are being created - Israel vs Pakistan, Iran vs Israel, gods know how many others (there's only so much news I can stomach, I admit) - and nobody seems to care beyond yelling "NOT IN MY BACK YARD!" every time these people who lost everything but their lives need a place to stay.

And this country? They're now talking about cutting down on the number of international students allowed to come here. They just ... really, really hate foreigners right now. And I know they probably don't mean me - not even so much because I'm white, because the Polish population of the UK got so much horrific shit thrown at them in the time around the Brexit referendum, but because I'm North American. People still ask "What part of the States are you from?" because I think they forgot Canada exists. Despite being part of their Commonwealth, which ... kind of grinds my gears, but anyway. Point is that none of that "They probably don't mean me" helps. First, I'm angry as hell that they mean anyone when they're talking about cruelty to people who were not born in this country. But also? When it's everyone who wasn't born here - the families of healthcare workers, university students, anyone who doesn't make enough money? It's hard to avoid the idea that they do mean me. Especially since I'm not cis, I'm not het, and I am not healthy and fully abled.

I try pretty hard to look on the bright side of things, or at least focus on the small joys of my life. The latter works better than the former. The "bright side of things" is getting smaller and smaller every day, and ... yeah.

- *tsukiatte agete mo ii ka na (how do we relationship): i love how simply candid and honest it is at portraying messy relationships between not-quite-adults doing their best to grow. i really enjoy where the story is going because it's something you rarely see in manga!

- ohana holoholo: i wish there's more family-themed gl but im always happy we have this! it's painfully sincere and i love how we dive in into their lifes and see how they're involved with the bigger cast of characters

- shoujo manga protagonist x rival-san: a bit more of a lighthearted comedy, taking the standard trope of shoujo protagonist vs the love rival and putting a silly sapphic spin on it which is something that i absolutely need. its cute moments really shine through!

- yuri de naru ❤️ espoir (yuri espoir): my beloved that i can never shut up about. the cute artstyle takes you in a fun spin on meta commentary of yuri tropes only to slowly reveal that things might not be as sweet and happy as it seems... no one is doing it like them

- yuri to koe to kazo matoi: revolving around the feelings of women finding their place in the world, chasing for what they truly want. this is a bit of a spoiler but it centers around characters in the aromantic and asexual spectrum which makes it even more special to me!

bl:

- *iki dekinai no wa kimi no sei (breathless momentum): i love everything from the premise to how they grow to care about each other, it's hilarious and cute and their dynamic will always remain one of my favorites ever

- *tabun kore kara ai no hibi: the main theme about the joy and pain of creating just resonates so hard, the main characters' struggle portrays it very well and seeing the growth really made me happy!

- tonari ni: natsume ono's paneling and writing is just so special, there's this somber quality to it that absolutely draws me in. it complements very well the quiet yearning in the story

- *tenjite koi to iki: tbh this is just an excuse to talk about hayane dento's works, i always have a hard time choosing a favorite because they all have such great writing! i think about this one the most because of how melancholic it was paired with their beautiful storytelling

- boku no papa to papa no hanashi: ive read a lot of family-themed bl but this will always take the cake! the love this little family have for each other and how they grow together will always get to me

- *link and ring: just an absolutely loving relationship, you can see how much the main couple cares for each other it's just so sweet to read!

- achira kochira bokura: more slice of life than bl really and that's why it's so dear to me, it's a very natural depiction of two boys with opposite natures slowly being part of each other's lives. there's a sequel too!

YOU HATE DINOPANTS TOO???

YES SO MUCH! It just always is so reductive for the both of them. It feels like people get so into the idea that because they had an alliance they have to be coupled and because they have to be coupled that becomes the primary way they choose to understand Hot Pants as a character. I'm not super tuned into how the fandom treats Diego, but I do know that he gets boxed into a lot of tropes that largely come from DinoPants fans. Putting my thoughts on it under the cut :)

I feel like Diego retains some of his canon character in fan content because people care about the way he interacts with the rest of the male main cast from an at least somewhat analytical standpoint. Hot Pants really doesn't get that luxury because a lot of Jojo fans really aren't in it for the women unless they can ship them with somebody or offhandedly say they're kinda cool. People's perceptions of her are so distorted because they're only able to view her as Diego's goth girlfriend. They ignore her motivations and her story when it doesn't involve him. And the most important connections we see her experience are also ignored all for the most bland nothing heterosexual ship that they think is brilliant because the gender roles are flipped. They don't realize that if they fail to see the woman in a het relationship as a person outside of just her sexual role, archetype, and aesthetic they are being misogynistic. It's not unlike how manic pixie dream girls were treated in the early 2000s.

Hot Pants is one of my favorite fictional characters of all time. Her relationship to guilt, loss, and sacrifice are incredibly compelling. Using a character who is a nun to tackle what sisterhood can mean is funny. Her relationship with faith and the loss of a sibling can be compared and contrasted with Pucci's backstory and relationship with Catholicism. Faith is an important theme in Jojo, especially in parts 6 and 7. Jesus is in SBR and Hot Pants is a fucking nun sent from the Vatican secret service on Jesus scavenger hunt duty. She has a stand that explicitly requires an equivalent exchange, echoing her themes of sacrifice. She dies beautifully and tragically because she had to for her arc to be truly complete. I find it absolutely infuriating that at "best" I see people joke about this stuff and at worst they just completely ignore it and replace her with a plush doll who only talks when the string on her back is pulled by a male character.

Sorry if this is like... extreme, but I've been a massive fan of Hot Pants since I was around 16. And it feels like no effort is made on peoples' parts to understand her. Especially when most fan content of her comes with Diego. It really does feel like people see her as his accessory.

All her “original” media has a lesbian relationship in one way or another. Has mostly white characters but a couple of black love interests. Yeah Lily TOTALLY doesn’t fetishized lesbians

LO could write nothing but sapphic couples and that doesn't necesarily mean that she's fetishizing them. a lot of writers make nothing but het couples and nobody accuses them of fetishizing straightness unless they're weirdly militant about it.

no, the reason why LO treatment of lesbians is concerning is because she is weirdly militant about it. when she was arguing with inkrose about something i don't care about, her solution was to encourage her viewer to draw her avatar as a lesbian in NSFW setting to somehow teach her a lesson to not be homophobic... to a minor. when asked why does she like to write f/f so much she said because lesbian love "is the purest kind of love", which implies that other loves that aren't lesbian are impure. when she talks about how the romance genre is so formulaic and predictable her entire solution is to make the same thing but with lesbians and that'll magically improve any story instantly. it's not even just lesbians existing as an integral part of a story with all the nuances and complexities that a good story could provide them, just... have lesbians and by virtue of them being lesbian a story will instantly be better. somehow. how do you improve a character like rey? by giving him more opportunities to shine? no, by making him a lesbian and give him a wife he can fawn over 24/7 with nothing else on his life going on. how do you improve the new trilogy of star wars? add lesbians and especially a lesbian powerful and violent enough to punish kylo for the crime of existing as a character, that's also important. but it has to be a lesbian and it has to be a lesbian that has slept with another bunch of women because. notice the distintictive lack of any other identities across all her OCs. as many other have pointed out before, lesbians are by far the majority. on pokemadhouse even a toddler like bonnie can't simply just be a toddler, she has to be a lesbian, and she has to know she is a lesbian at toddler age, and the only pan representation of the whole universe is a character that is written to be a harraser whose main characteristic is to have tried to mate or have sex with all the main characters in the house. bonnie doesn't have any romantic subplot going on, being a lesbian affects absolutely nothing of her as a character, but for LO is crucial for everyone to still know that this toddler is a lesbian. her pitch for a new mummy movie, taking out of the way the blatant disregard to adress the racism of the original franchise, is boring, has no stakes and doesn't have any of the charm, action or sense of adventure than most fans of the movies loved them for. but it has lesbians now and that makes it better. somehow!

has LO ever showed enthusiasm for any piece of media that didn't had lesbians or imagined lesbians on it, especially as the main focus, for any considerable amount of time? no that i can remember. she blatantly ignores queer media that isn't about lesbians specifically. she only praises queer media that has lesbians specifically, implying that any story with lesbians is better than any other queer stories with other identities represented. all of this is fair to use as a reason to accuse LO of fetishization because it is, blatantly so. just because she doesn't talk about sex always, not in the open at least, doesn't make it any less objectifying and weird. she's still putting lesbians on such a bizarre pedestal from where she praises them above any other identity. it's still a form of dehumanization.

remember how some black people critique her for treating black people as "exotic zoo animals" to gawk and admire? that's exactly what she does to lesbians.

nova (like me) is from canada! she actually came to jorvik at age 11 when she was scouted by the jorvik ballet company, and became interested in horseback riding when her ballet master took her and her fellow students to see the circus - she was enamoured by vaulting!

🛋 [COUCH W/ LAMP] -> Where does your Original Character live? As in, where do they reside - one of the many stables across the Jorvegian Peninsula, or do they own an apartment/home within one of Jorvik's Cities?

technically nova lives with mrs holdsworth (who is essentially her adoptive mother), and that's the address where she like. gets all her mail lol. holdsworth is also more or less the only person who is relatively up to date on nova's whereabouts at any given point (eg. she was the only one who knew where she was during nova's stint in the wildwoods). in practice, nova's a nomad, and can't handle staying in one place for too long. currently she's stabling her herd in valedale, in exchange for them being used in druid activities (this is really reluctant, but when you're low on funds, you havent got many options lol). oh, there was also a period of about a year during which she lived in the little shack at the unfortunate dews' farm! this was way before maya staked claim to the property, and they never ran into each other while maya was caring for the livestock there, but i like to think that, since they're friends, maya lets her crash there every once in awhile

there was a period of time (roughly three months) during which nova was employed by the rangers at redwood point. she's affiliated with the keepers, but isn't exactly happy about it. she's really close with the moorlands, and worked at their summer camp for a couple terms. she's also a guest instructor with the bobcats!

(i've already answered the trophy one so i'm gonna skip it to avoid being redundant)

📚 [BOOK STACK] -> What is your Original Character's story? Not just in SSO's canon main story - what is your Character's deal in general?

this is a wonderful question that i would love to answer in great detail, but i honestly dont think i can! i would say it needs its own post, but i think nova's life story is one that will be revealed (to everyone, including me) over time, through answering small questions, creating art, and making tweaks over time in compliance with (or defiance against) the existing canon of SSO (which is an ever shifting beast, but i genuinely enjoy the challenge!) essentially, i'd say that nova came to the island as a kid, experienced a falling out with her family, and never went back. there was a period of a few years (2016-2023, aka when i stopped playing the game and got the sudden inexplicable urge to come back) during which she travelled the world at large, but never went back to canada. at that time, she split her herd between the moorlands and herman to employ as lesson horses. it's been a labour of love for her to restore her bond with each of them as individuals. i havent figured out her in-canon reason for coming back to the island yet unfortunately! she also had a "love interest" (comp het) several years ago who experienced a tragic demise, and is the reason she left the island to begin with

yes! yes. the aforementioned "love interest" is absolutely one. she broke her foot at the moorland's summer camp which meant that she couldnt dance anymore, and also spurred her falling out with her parents. nova also has lingering issues with her eyesight in her left eye, following an accident involving a cross country course and a thorn bush (which is based on an injury from my irl cross country days lol)
