Funny how Oliver went to Point Nemo for a nap because people became a bother that started to suffocate him. Terminal Velocity stuff could be made out of this methinks

Relieving Stress | Makoto, Rin
Pairings: Makoto X Reader (gender neutral), and Rin X Reader (gender neutral)
Genre: (angsty to??) comfort fluff
Author’s Note: Cause the free fandom needs to be fed too plus I’ve been dying to write more free!
Tumblr media
Makoto:
You couldn’t breathe through your nose, your nostrils completely blocked, your eyes puffy and red
Tear drops littered your notes and workbooks as you sat hunched over your desk, your hands holding the side of your head as you cried silently to yourself in the room, wanting to give up so badly but knowing you would feel too much guilt if you stopped
It was an endless cycle you wanted out of
Sitting in your seat had taken its toll on your body, your back and neck killing you from how much you had been sitting, your stomach hurting from how little you ate, not wanting to waste as much time as you did before
The college entrance exams were nearing and you were demoralized seeing the results of your mock
The worst of all was seeing the disappointment that was clear as day in your parents’ eyes when they asked about your results, the light of hope vanishing from their eyes
They didn’t say it but you could feel the disappointment, and you could still feel it
Your house was still and empty, excluding you. Your parents would be coming home late from work, saving every bit of money they could to send you to the school you wanted, hoping for you to get into Meijo Chuo University
A soft knock on your door pulled- no, freed you from your miserable studies
“Y/N?” The kind voice of your loving boyfriend Makoto sounded from your doorway as he peeked his head in through the door, his olive eyes widening seeing your crying face. “What happened?” He set the plastic bag filled with snacks and drinks down beside him as he knelt before you, taking your hand in his, cupping your face to wipe away your tears with the other
“Are you hurt?” He scanned your arms and legs, trying to find a source of the pain you were clearly in, finding none as you meekly shook your head, tears dripping off your chin
“What’s wrong, then?” You bit into your lip as you nuzzled into his touch, his warmth already melting away a slim fraction of the stress that was crushing you from the inside out
“Entrance exams,” your voice cracked as you felt a hot burn in your chest just thinking about it. You and tests were nowhere near compatible and you hated it- sitting in one spot for hours in complete silence, hearing everyone else diligently working while you sat there, feeling useless with your brain
“I’m not gonna get into Meijo Chuo and- and- I just want to skip this…” you spoke, your voice shaky, your breaths uneven as you continued to struggle to breathe through your nose, making it feel even more like you were suffocating
“Hey, shhh…” He pulled you into his embrace, your head resting on his shoulder, breath tickling his neck as he rubbed his hand over your back. “Don’t say you won’t, not now when they haven’t started yet. There’s still time.”
He knew the stress you were feeling over the exams. He felt the same but he thought you were in a better boat than he was since you actually knew where you wanted to go whereas he didn’t
The reason as to why he was actually here was because of your mother. She contacted him, worried you weren’t giving yourself enough breaks and she was right seeing the state you were in
“Let’s take a break, okay? Tell me why you think you won’t get in…” The two of you sat in the center of the room on your carpet. He handed you a refreshing drink, offering you some snacks he knew you liked
You told him abut your mock, which led to multiple branches of thoughts like what if you didn’t get in as the main concern, the guilt you felt toward your parents for working so hard for the sake of your future
It was all wrapped around the concern of not getting in
He listened intently, getting a feel for how you felt
He held you close, his arm wrapped around your shoulders, hand rubbing your arm as the two of you leaned back into the side of your bed. He wipes your tears away with his tissues, telling you all about the exam and how it really would go, explaining the curves every year, financial aid, the process of applying too
“We can work through this together,” he squeezed your hand in his
It sounded like a lot more but with the way he put it, it sounded achievable but it wasn’t enough to make all your stresses disappear into thin air
“I can come over again tomorrow and we can review together, okay?” He cupped your face and rubbed his thumb over your cheek, his gentle smile spreading on his lips, widening when he saw you smile for the first time today
He wasn’t able to relieve all of your worries completely, but he was able to lighten the weight of them, staying by your side throughout the entire process til you were accepted and he kept his word to you
Tumblr media
Rin:
The chair creaked loudly in your ear as you leaned back into it with a heavy sigh, closing your eyes to massage them after burning holes into your textbook with them
They burned in the best possible way as you massaged them, closing your dried eyes after staring at the same text, taking in information you had learned in your lecture already, but just rereading everything from the beginning of the semester to make sure you had everything down
But it was a lot more now that you were rereading through all the chapters, some things felt like you were learning for the very first time yet they weren’t when you found notes you had taken
Sitting still in your chair, resting your eyes and body, which so badly wanted to collapse into the covers of your bed, you could hear the faint shrills of cicadas and chirps of crickets outside your apartment
You were getting lost in the sound, feeling yourself slowly fall asleep but you had to keep yourself awake, no matter how many cups of coffee, tea, or energy drinks you had to down, you had to stay awake and get through at least half of the reading you were forcing yourself through
Failing this final meant retaking the class next semester but it also meant losing money down the drain
The faintest sounds of keys jingling followed by the sound of your front door opening caught your attention
Turning your head, you saw Rin’s figure as he stepped through the door, tucking his keys back into his pocket
“Hey, what’re you doing here?” You turned your head back, resting your sore neck on the back of your chair, swaying side by side ever so slightly with your foot guiding you
“You haven’t answered me at all today and I wanted to see if you were alive.” He nudged your chair as he sat himself into the seat beside yours
“Oh, sorry, my phone was off like all day.” You had told quite a few people and your parents that you wouldn’t be available all day/ as well as basically this entire week until your final had passed
“Why? Also why’re you still up?” He poked his finger into your cheek, making you flinch, amusing him
“My history final is coming up and I’ve been basically cramming.” You drew your lips into a straight line, locking gazes with him as he read you, taking in your features
He could see the bags forming beneath your eyes, how disheveled your hair looked
“Come on,” he stood, opening his hand to you. “Let’s go.”  He waited patiently for you to put your hand into his, wrapping his fingers around yours securely, hoisting you up from your seat
“Where are we going?”
“To bed.” You refrained yourself from yawning when you heard him say that, pulling back your hand where you stood
“I can’t, not yet at least. I have to finish reading at the middle so I can have enough time to review.” You pulled your body as he securely held your hand, pulling you toward your bedroom at the end of the hall, your bed calling your name
As much as you wanted to, you couldn’t not yet
“Y/N, I can physically see how tired you are, baby. Let’s just go to sleep. I can help you review tomorrow and all the way up until your exam. You know I make a great study buddy,” he winked, swinging your arms as he gestured his head toward your bedroom
You stood hesitantly, facing the table as you looked at your textbooks, little slips of paper and colorful sticky notes peeking out from the edges
“I know you want to,” his breath tickled your ear as you let out a groan, almost sinking to your knees when you felt his hands massage your shoulder and neck, your muscles stiff from being hunched over your book for hours on end
“You need so much sleep and relaxing,” he kissed your shoulder from behind. You leaned back and rested your head on his shoulder, sighing for the nth time all day as you went to war with yourself
“Your brain is a muscle and it needs to relax before you cram more, overworking it. It’s already late, sleep will do you some good,” he promised, finally able to lead you away from your table, switching off the light as he led you to your bedroom as you let out a big yawn, your body melting into your bed and his arms

iZombie 5x13 "All’s Well That Ends Well" Review
Hello friends, are we ready to say goodbye? I was a little nervous coming into this finale, seeing as there was so much to wrap up, and therefore...much to mess up. As a result, the pacing was indeed a little strange, but some minor characters get some hero moments, and it was all setting up a final ten minutes that essentially functioned as an epilogue that sealed the series.
Okay, let’s dig in. Enzo has taken over Fillmore Graves and has declared war on humans. Dolly and her people have responded in kind, going around New Seattle taking out high ranking zombies. While gunfire rains over the city, Ravi, Clive, and Liv are returning from Atlanta with the vial needed for the cure.
Even though it’s risky, they choose to fly to get back faster. Liv’s plane seatmate is suspicious, insisting she’s seen Liv before. Even though the official heist is over, the trio show they still have a few smooth moves, and manage to slip a sedative into the woman’s drink so she’ll stop asking questions. As she sleeps soundly, her iPad drops to the floor of the cabin. She must have figured it out right before she’s knocked out — the flight attendant picks up the device and sees the browser is open to an article about Liv and her work as Renegade.
When the plane lands, the flight attendant pulls Clive, Liv, and Ravi from their seats and introduces them to a Portland police officer. After a brief moment of anxiety, the flight attendant reveals they are siblings, and Liv saved their younger sister’s life by smuggling her into Seattle and turning her into a zombie. The officer offers to escort them to the Washington border as a thank you, and in hopes they can get back to Seattle quicker. Clive is happy to hear this, as he gets a message that Dale is labor with their baby.
Major turns himself in to get a shot at securing the Max Rager, and luckily he still has one more ally back at Fillmore Graves. Lieutenant Collins has always been a steadfast supporter of Major, and she truly comes through in his hour of need. She helps him get past Enzo and his lackeys so he can get to the precious energy drink needed for the cure. As a result, Enzo executes her. Lieutenant Collins was always a background character, but she was one that I always respected and appreciated, and without her, Major wouldn’t have been able to make it out of Fillmore Graves alive. We’re pouring one out for her tonight.
Meanwhile, Peyton is still being held hostage by Blaine. She helps the Freylich kids make a distraction by conking him over the head, and tossing the keys to Oliver, the older boy with a terminal illness. He drives the getaway car, but Peyton doesn’t quite make it out with the rest of them. The Freylich smuggler shoots at Peyton, and while she takes him out, he gets her too. Blaine runs out to see Peyton bleeding out on the ground.
The kids make it back to the safe house, just as Liv and Ravi are arriving. When they realize Peyton didn’t return with them, they get emotional. Ravi nearly falls apart before Liv reminds them they have an important job to do. She tells Ravi to get to cooking the cure, and she would deal with Blaine. She promises to show no mercy.
Luckily, Blaine’s obsession with Peyton serves her well in this instance. He turns her into a zombie and forces to eat a meal with him. It’s pretty incredible Peyton has survived this whole series without becoming a zombie, but I guess the virus comes for everyone eventually. Unfortunately for Blaine, he should have been more calculating about the brain he fed her. Don E watches Peyton while Blaine goes to visit the well on his father’s property (the one that also used to serve as his father’s prison). Don E is delighted when Peyton has her first vision, but in a dead-panned voice, she tells him she saw Blaine suffocating a girl with a pillow, wearing a wedding dress and calling for Don E. While we still never see the true circumstances of Darcy’s death on-screen, I’m more inclined to trust Peyton’s version of things than Blaine’s. It’s the last straw for Don E, who storms to the well and unceremoniously pushes Blaine in. “No one was ever going to love you,” Don E screams down the well. “I’m the only person who could stand you, and you killed my fiance.” Liv shows up just in time to see the show and she hesitates even less. She hurls a rock at Don E and her aim is true. Don E goes in the well right after Blaine. “Enjoy eternity together!” she sneers, just as she bursts into tears, grieving Peyton. One has to wonder, if this was all that it took to get rid of these two, perhaps it should have been done a long time ago. It certainly would have saved Liv a lot of headaches. I find that even though it was a simple death, it was a deserving one for Blaine and Don E. I was hoping for more of a redemptive moment for Don E, but it took him way too long to see the light, and he’s been complicit in Blaine’s schemes since the very beginning. By the end, he was a richer character, but still an evil one. I’m okay with those two being a little closer to hell now.
Besides, it was all worth it for the moment right after. “How funny would it be if now I knocked you in,” Peyton says. Liv turns around to see her best friend, and the two reunite in a sweet hug. This moment made me a little emotional. These two college buddies have morphed into two very capable and clever young women, and they’ve been by each other’s side through the worst of it.
Blaine and Don E may be out of the picture, but we but we aren’t even close to the end yet! Clive and Dale deliver a beautiful and healthy baby. It essentially takes them out of all the action, but I thought, for better or worse, it was a strong choice. I was glad I didn’t have to worry about either of them dying in the eleventh hour, and they were able to watch everything from their television screens without being in danger.
Ravi finally creates the cure, and he and Major dramatically roll up to the local TV station. After a brief attempt at convincing Johnny Frost to take the cure, Major takes matters into his own hands.  “I’m here to prove to the people that it’s over,” he says. He strikes a deal. Major will take the cure, and Enzo can shoot him in the chest in front of everyone. If he dies, it proves he’s not a zombie. It’s just the kind of stupidly heroic thing that Major would do, and Enzo takes him up on it. Major takes the cure and Enzo shoots him more times than can be counted. It’s traumatic, and they really had me believing that our boy was probably dead. Ravi tackles Enzo and manages to cure him. Graham, who had been sneaking around the background the entire episode, appears and shoots Enzo in the head, avenging his boyfriend. A Fillmore Graves officer takes him out, and chaos breaks out. RIP sweet teacher Graham. Outside the TV station, there’s intense gunfire being exchanged between Fillmore Graves, Dead Enders, and Dolly’s CHICS. Inside, the power goes out.
Ravi crawls over to what appears to be a lifeless Major, while we listen to a voicemail he left for Liv. He says goodbye because he doesn’t think he’ll survive his latest world-saving stunt, but she’s always been the love of his life. Just when I was beginning to choke up and start preparing for a life without Major Lillywhite, he softly croaks, “You tricky son of a bitch, what was in that syringe you gave me.” Ravi admits that he gave him a vial of straight up Max Rager, but promises him that “next time, it’s all yours.”
Liv is back at the station, bawling while listening to the voicemail and believing Major is dead. Strangely, Michelle comes into the morgue and asks Liv if she’s okay. The moment is brief and someone breaks into the morgue and sets off a huge explosion. And then suddenly, we are ten years into the future.
At first, I was a little let down. This is absolutely the easiest way to wiggle out dealing with the aftermath of Dolly, the other fringe human groups, and all the other plotlines that iZombie didn’t feel like it wanted to deal with neatly. We don’t get to watch how Seattle apparently “repopulated, rebuilt, and rebranded” as we hear in a moment later. But my frustration was short lived, as the last ten minutes were devoted to my beloved core characters that I adore so much.
Clive, Peyton, and Ravi appear on a virtual reality talk show, where a charismatic host asks them questions about their lives after the cure. As three people who had a front row seat to the events, the host wants to get their perspectives. It’s revealed that none of them stayed in New Seattle after the war, but they all went on to have very successful careers and marriages. Ravi and Peyton are a married couple living in Atlanta, she’s a lawyer and Ravi is head of the CDC. Clive and Dale are co-captaining San Francisco PD while raising their kid, as well as Michelle’s. Besides their lives prospering, the world has recovered from this chapter of history. The cure was distributed, and while some were cured, some are still living full lives as zombies. Dolly is still out there, but not causing trouble as far as we know.  While this is all lovely and good, this show really makes us sweat here. Where are Liv and Major? The host wants to know as well. The three of them insist that they are both lost to time, legends in their own right, and they miss them just as much as anyone. Liv died in the morgue’s suicide bombing, and while Major never lost hope that she’s alive, no one has seen him in ten years. They’ve accepted that Liv isn’t alive or that Major will never resurface, America will have to accept it too.
Unless...
We see a flashback of Major returning to the safe house with the kids, and Liv meeting them there. They reunite with a passionate kiss, and even though things are still burning and they are covered in dirt and exhausted, things are right again.
In the most “happily ever after” ending the show could have possibly delivered, Liv and Major are living their lives in private, in a huge mansion by the water, with all their little zombie children. Their friends are well aware of this, and are protecting them from the world at large with their reunion interviews. After the host disappears, Liv and Major appear in the virtual reality space, and after some light teasing amongst the group, they invite Clive, Peyton, and Ravi to their personal zombie haven. “All it takes is a scratch,” Liv says with a knowing smile.
This show tackled more than it had a right to. It was convoluted, goofy, strange, exhausting, whimsical, outlandish, absurd, dark, and hilarious, all at the same time. But what grounded it at the center was the fact it never forgot about its core cast. At times they were given unfortunate character arcs, undercooked plots, and under-serving love interests. But in the end, we saw who they truly were. Ravi, the scientist with a moral compass. Peyton, the lawyer with clever smarts. Clive, the captain with a discerning spirit. And Major and Liv, the nurturers and protectors of zombie-kind, the best mom and dad friends you could ever ask for. I can’t express how happy I am the show ended with these five, standing tall and in love with each other, looking well-rested in paradise. It wasn’t an easy road, in fact sometimes it was a very frustrating road. But when I remember iZombie, I’ll remember it was a show about heroes, good over evil, and a really, really good meal.  I’m always going to have a soft spot in my heart for it.
Stray thoughts
“She’s googling The Good Place. She thinks I’m Kristen Bell.” “She’ll be sorely disappointed.” This gag was straight up gold.
Those flamethrowers seemed especially cruel? Fire doesn’t kill zombies, but sure seems to be painful
Collins, Graham, Oliver, and Michelle. All minor characters this season that had a Moment this episode. While most of these characters were overall underutilized in this series and season, I liked how each of them were used to tie things together. Oliver was the only one who made it out alive, however, and the rest of them definitely deserved better.
Did the suicide bomber think that blowing up the morgue would prevent creating more zombies…? That’s the only reason I can think why blowing up a fridge full of dead people could make sense.
Wait this actually reveals a strange plot hole. Is there a limit to how long you’ve been dead before you can be scratched and be a zombie? I don’t remember this question ever explicitly being addressed. There was never an instance where anyone considered creating a zombie army from Liv and Ravi’s morgue.
Clive and Dale named their daughter Olivia. My HEART.
Even though Peyton was okay, I’m glad we got to see Major comfort Ravi. Their bromance is truly one for the ages.
“The way I make my decisions these days is asking myself what would Liv Moore do.” This couple is THAT supportive ship.
I wish we had gotten better promo photos for this finale, or at least some more variety of scenes
Even though it’s a little thin to believe that some people never turned back human and there are zombies still peacefully living among us (as well as Liv and Major, living outside), I actually didn’t mind it. They had to have some way to wrap up the problem of people who would die if they turned back into a human.
“I do miss you, partner.” “Vice versa, Clive.” Wow, ten years without Liv’s antics. I imagine that Clive’s productivity at work has gone way up, although I’m sure he sorely misses her crime-solving visions.
That’s a wrap for iZombie. What did you think? Favorite brains? Worst plot holes? Best shipper moments? Let me know your thoughts!
Haley’s episode rating: 🐝🐝🐝🐝.5

The Anchor of Humanity
A/N: just wrote this because there’s no where near enough halo fanfics. Also, I’m assuming the reader is female - purely for ease of writing. Enjoy :)
Warnings: suggestive themes, non-graphic smut
—-
[Y/N, along with marines and other ODSTs, are deployed to fight the covenant invasion on a nearby planet]
//
Y/N let out a breath as she and her squad sat in silence aboard their pelican, approaching the rendezvous where they were to join forces with the marines and - much to her excitement - the Spartan II blue team. Meaning Chief, who she hadn’t seen in God knows how long, would be there fighting with her like old times.
Before Chief had to leave the Infinity, Y/N formed a close - and rather unexpected - bond with him. So, when they had to part, she had prayed that they would meet again. And there he was.
Flashback
The quiet clinking of knives and forks was the only sound that could be heard as the atmosphere on the Spartan II’s table was suffocating.
No one in the Blue Team dared to speak a word as Chief’s bad mood was evident after his argument with Y/N.
He had broken the news in his room during one of Y/N’s common visits to see him and as a result, Y/N was outraged at the UNSC at first, before turning on him whilst accusing him of ‘not caring’ about how she felt.
Which was, in Chief’s mind, completely the opposite of how he felt. He was distraught when he learned about his ever-approaching departure but, true to what he is known for, he put on his neutral expression and tried to put his duties before his personal life.
He tried.
But now, Y/N was just tossing the occasional glare from the ODST table, leaving both the Blue Team and ODST team to exchange their own glances with the opposite table. But instead, their glances were confused and concerned for their team mate.
Suddenly, Y/N stood up and left the mess hall in a huff.
Her table watched her leave, along with Chief and the quick glance from Fred before he returned to pushing his food around with his fork.
Shortly after, Chief stood (in a less dramatic fashion, might I add) and left the mess hall in persuit of Y/N.
After failing to find her in the gym or with Lasky (who she had an almost relative attachment to), he headed to her dorm floor.
Reaching the end of the narrow corridor, he made the agonisingly long walk to Y/N’s room.
He halted in his steps before her door.
He hesitated, but took in a deep breath and waited calmly after knocking.
Before the door could open, he smoothed out his vest and dusted his military slacks that were neatly tucked into his boots.
He straightened as the door hissed open to reveal Y/N who held a forlorn look upon her dainty face.
Her eyes were slightly reddened - as if she were hastily wiping them before coming to the door - and Chief’s heart broke at the sight in front of her.
Her sorry look was almost immediately wiped off her face when her mind suddenly realised who it was in front of her.
“Yes?” She spat.
“Look, Y/N, I’m sorry. I don’t know what else to say. I don’t want this either. I really don’t but you have to understand that this is something I have to do…something I need to do.” He finished quietly, gauging her reaction.
She swallowed. “You don’t care.” She said it so brokenly and soft that he almost missed it.
He took a step forward so that he was over the threshold and closer to Y/N, but she simply took one back in response.
“Y/N, don’t you ever say that I don’t care. I do. And if you can’t see that then I don’t know how to feel. I- I really do care for you, Y/N. I want you to know that. I really do.” He said more firmly.
She looked up at the figure towering over her mere 5'4 height and began, “Well, it doesn’t matter anymore does it? You’re leaving and I likely won’t ever see you again. And you, me. Whether it’s because of missions or if one of us dies trying to live.”.
He took another step so she was now against a wall.
“Don’t you ever say that. This isn’t goodbye, Y/N.” he pressed.
“Oh really? And how would you know?” She challenged as she moved forward so there was less than a couple of inches apart.
“Because I care for you too much. Because I can’t bare the thought of not seeing you again. Because-” he paused and she moved around in place awaiting his response. “Because I love you, God damnit! I don’t know what else to say…Y/N-”.
Y/N cut him off and, to Chief’s surprise, she planted her lips onto his and ran her hands through his dark hair as he snaked his arms around her waist.
They broke apart and gasped for air whilst gazing into each others eyes.
“I love you, John” she breathed out.
He kissed her aggressively as she jumped up and wrapped her legs around his hips.
He blindly walked over to Y/N’s bed and dropped onto it with her lips locked with his underneath him as they tore desparately at each others clothes.
He positioned her underneath him as Y/N ran her nails deep into his muscular, scarred back.
“John…” she breathed as they expressed their love passionately and aggressively, like they had been starved of the others attention for years.
And boy were they fed that night.
{early morning aboard the Infinity}.
Y/N woke with a strong arm wrapped around her waist with her head nestled into John’s warm chest.
She looked up at his peaceful face - not looking so stern or hidden behind a helmet for a change.
She lowered her gaze towards the broad shoulders and chest in front of her and the scars that adorned his olive flesh.
She traced the largest with her fingers; following it from his shoulder blade to the midsection of his waist. She didn’t know that he was watching her, though.
“Good morning.” He said making her gaze flick up to his eyes and her hand lay flat on his chest.
She didn’t reply and just smiled. But it didn’t last long before the forlorn look was back on her face.
He tilted her chin up to meet his eyes once again. “Y/N…”
Tears welled up as she whispered, “Don’t go…”
John gave her a sympathetic look and brought her in closer to his chest.
“I’m sorry.” He said simply, not being able to get what he wanted to say out.
“I know…” She replied weakly.
End of flashback
the jolt of the pelican brought her out of her flashback as it touched the rocky terrain of the rendezvous.
She led the ODSTs out and started towards the group of marines lined up with their backs facing them.
“Good to see you, ODST Commander Y/N.” she heard Lasky’s voice greet.
The rows of marines parted to make way for the ODSTs and saluted as they passed. Y/N saluted as she stood in front of Lasky but he brushed off her formalities and led her to the UNSC command team who were talking amongst themselves; no doubt about battle strategies.
She held up her fist to keep her ODSTs from following and walked after Lasky. She was saluted by the team as she entered the circle before they went about informing her of their strategies and potential flaws within their plan.
Hours passed and the plan was far from perfect but it was the best shot they were going to get at potentially wiping out the Covenant.
Y/N was, once again, ripped from her thoughts as a loud whirring sound echoed in the air.
“Spartans deployed and arriving at rendezvous.” a gravelly voice sounded through the comms system. The voice sounding a lot like Blue Team’s Fred.
Her heart sped up and she’s went back to her ODSTs to line them up before the pelican.
Visibly shaking, her ODST comrade, Rhys, threw her a worried glance. She ignored his pointed stare and continued to watch the aircraft land painfully slowly.
She watched the spartan team - led by Locke - exit their pelican and gave him a nod as they made eye contact from across the plain.
She never had any quarrel with him but she knew his and John’s history was bumpy to say the least.
Locke and his team made their way over to command and began taking in the plan formulated.
Lasky had begun to notice Y/N’s shaking - the only difference was, was that he knew why.
She watched as the second pelican landed and saw Linda and Fred exit first. She smiled as she saw the people, who had accepted her so willingly, stand mere metres away from her. Next, Kelly exited and she wanted so badly to run up and hug her. But, true to her commander rank, she composed herself as best she could.
She was smiling like an idiot until he walked out.
She felt like her legs would give out any minute at the sight of John. Years apart from him since their last meeting had made this moment all the more special. Tears were leaking from her eyes and she was glad for the helmet that donned her head. He looked around and cast his eyes on the marines that stood a few metres away. His gaze swept the lines until he laid eyes on her.
His heart was in his mouth and he froze; his gaze still fixated on her familiar ODST armour.
By now, his frozen state has attracted more than a few curious gazes as they followed his eye line to the person who had managed to stop the Master Chief dead in his tracks.
It was like everything stood still and Y/N looked at Lasky for permission to move and, of course, he granted.
Lasky tried to talk the marines to draw their gaze away from the couple but most continued to indulge in their curiosities.
She started out in a walk towards him but she couldn’t wait and began almost sprinting to him.
John snapped out of his frozen state and began striding to meet her half way.
Y/N wrapped her arms around his waist making their armour clack on contact.
He held her close and never wanted to let go. For all the years that they had been apart, all he wanted to do was see her beautiful smile again and have her joyful self around him again.
They pulled apart and looked each other up and down.
“I thought i’d never see you again…” she whispered.
She took off her helmet and John instantly cupped his hands around her face. His thumbs brushed under her eyes, wiping her tears away. she smiled and leaned her face into his hand.
“Oh, Y/N, I’ve missed your smile…” He whispered gruffly.
The marines muttered amongst each other at the scene before them. even the command team had turned their attention to the couple’s intimate meeting.
She placed her hands on his helmet and slowly pulled it off, causing the suit to hiss.
She tossed it aside and placed her own hands on his face. She reached up - as he towered over her in his suit - and traced the new scars on his cheek. He gave her a rare smile which surprised the crowd behind.
“I missed yours too.” she smiled.
They stood in silence and drank the sight of the other in front of them, like the moment would be wrenched from their grip and it to all be all a dream.
He leaned in and did what he had longed to do since their last. He leaned down and connected his lips to her own soft ones in a gentle but desperate kiss. She put her hands on his wrists and he kept his large hands cupping her face.
It felt as though their desires had all been satisfied in that one moment as they stayed like that for as long as the other needed.
Lasky smiled at the two, as did Rhys - who was slightly more shocked but happy none the less. The Blue Team looked on in relief as their Chief finally had what was driving him to insanity without. The marines were speechless as they had always been familiar with not being permitted to have relations with other soldiers, but seeing an ODST commander and a Spartan Chief sharing an intimate moment made them realise that they were human, and love couldn’t be stopped with rules nor potential punishment.
The two pulled apart and gazed at each other with longing.
Lasky approached them and coughed.
They both whipped their heads around and acknowledged his hint as they proceeded to put on their helmets.
John reluctantly walked to his team after Y/N returned to her line of ODSTs.
Y/N thought that if they survived this battle, then maybe her future will be that little more complete with her anchor of her remaining humanity by her side…
