Gaslight: She’s constantly gaslighting herself, like seriously all the time. Mainly because she couldn’t properly process her own emotions to save her life. ‘I’m totally fine after doing [fucked up thing]. Totally fine. It was my only option, and definitely not a result of my own deep-seated trauma affecting the way I perceive and interact with the world around me. Plus it’s not like it was even *that* fucked up. Actually, it was definitely the most moral choice in that situation. I had no other option. They forced my hand’. No they fucking didn’t Taylor. You had tons of other options, you’re just too much of a traumatized mess to recognize them. And *Worm* is well-written enough that, because we’re constantly seeing things from her fucked up point of view, we believe her. Especially when she describes events slightly yet very significantly differently from how they actually *textually* occurred previously in the text, but not so obviously that the readers notice without it being pointed out to them. It’s only during interludes from the POVs of other characters that we get a view of her without that lens of self-delusion. Gatekeep: Probably the weakest of the three for her, but somebody else could probably tell you more. Girlboss: She has the power to control bugs, with perfect coordination, infinite multitasking, and even proprioception. What does she do with that (in no particular order)? Rot somebodies dick off. Stick flies up his urethra. Eat his eyes with your bugs after he’s already disabled. Stick bullets ant up somebodies anus. Have bugs clean off the sweat and other material immediately after losing your virginity. Use your bugs to to drive a car through a city post-disaster while blind, without anybody else realizing you’ve been blinded. Get stabbed in the shoulder through bone, and proceed to monologue to the stabbed without showing any signs of pain. Line up bugs on people your shooting at with bugs on your gun to give you pinpoint accuracy. Hide massive amounts of bugs in the folds and crevices of your body, as well as in in your hair. Join a gang of supervillains. Carve out somebodies eyes. Turn butterflies into an instrument of terror. Kill a baby. You know, just completely normal things for a barely 16 (pre-timeskip) / not-quite 18 (post-timeskip) year old girl to do (most of these were pre-timeskip).

[skitter voice]i just dipped every tarantula hawk wasp in my villainous lair in liquid pepper spray so nows not the time to get stupid with my ass *using spider silk to create rube-goldberg machines of suffering i.e hauling a dude 3 stories up into the air and then dropping him, shattering all of his limbs on impact. all while casually holding a conversation w/ someone else *using centipedes to hollow another villain's eyes out and then putting maggots inside and just Leaving Them There with the intent of the heroes she hands the villain over to finding the maggots later and being scared of her *killed parahumans' wonder woman equivalent by putting bugs in her lungs and then using those bugs to make silk in her lungs to block out airflow. while monotone-quoting something wonder woman had said to threaten her earlier back at her as she died. wonder woman wasn't even in the room to hear it she just did it anyway. *only time she has ever successfully been jailed is when she turned herself in on purpose *made a phone call using bugs once. not villainous but very funny and iconic *used bugs to swang around a disintegration knife on a massive length of silk, killing like 50 people instantly, because she wanted one (1) person in the room dead and was willing to just shotgun that shit until it worked out for her. and then immediately after proceeded to think of herself as "not much of a fighter." because she has psychological issues. *mind-control kidnapped several thousand people once *literally made fun of god's dead girlfriend until he got suicidal and died about it *drove a car. blind. using bugs. no one realized she was blind for like 12 hours because she's a bug freak superorganism of a girl who walked around using bugs to triangulate perfectly w/o vision. also not villainous but still iconic *wanted to put 10000 black widow spiders in a shared villainous base to make costumes out of spider silk w/ and when the other dude who lived there was like "wtf can we not??" she was like "huh that's surprising. you don't want 10000 black widow spiders in your home? why? are you arachnophobic or something?" because she's a freak. *fucked, got up, and immediately made several hundred bugs crawl across her naked ass body to clean her off. because she's a freak. her boyfriend has had spiders on his dick he's just going to have to live with this *literally psychologically cannot refrain from putting bugs in the hair and clothing of everyone within a several block radius to keep track of them at all times because she's a panopticonic freak. like i'm talking "her friends occasionally talk to bugs they see under the assumption that it's her spying on them, and they're Right" level panopticonic freak. she rocks. *did i mention she's 15. world's most autistic freak 15yo dissociates hard enough to kill god more at 7

a/n: in honor of one of my favorite musicals being released in theaters, you all get a mean girls au where the reader is basically regina, abby is aaron, and ellie is cady. Highly recommend you listen to "Someone Gets Hurt" from the cast album to get the vibe.

It’s Halloween and you’re at a house party hosted by your ex, Abby Anderson. 

You watch the new girl, Ellie, who you’ve taken under your wing, mainly to make sure she doesn’t stomp on the work you’ve put in to become the reigning power over the student body of your high school. 

She is currently checking out Abby who is in a chugging contest with the other softball players. It makes you roll your eyes and scoff to yourself in disgust. Still, the lingering stare Ellie gives her makes you fume, so you put on your most convincing smile and walk over.

“I heard you have a crush on Abby Anderson” You say, seemingly coming from nowhere as Ellie jumps a little in fright, eyes skimming over your skimpy bunny costume.

Ellie registers what you said and curses under her breath, “Uh…yeah, I do” she stammers a little under your gaze, which boosts your ego even more.

You’ll be honest, the fact that Ellie was going after your ex girlfriend twisted the jealousy in your stomach, a deep fear of this new girl taking your place as queen bee of the school.

You decided to have some fun

“I think you guys would make the cutest couple” you say sweetly, lying through your teeth

Ellie blushes even harder as she looks over at Abby who is sitting on the couch, “Really, I mean I heard you two were a thing so if you aren’t comfortable-”

You interrupt her, “Oh it’s fine, I could even talk to her for you if you’d like?” you say as innocently as possible

“You’d do that?” she says in surprise, which makes you laugh at how gullible she is

“It’s what friends are for…right?” You say with a smile before making your way over to Abby.

You stand in front of her, “I have to talk to you” you say which finally gets her attention as she slowly trails her eyes up your body before looking into your eyes, she smirks and leans back into the couch while putting her hands behind her head.

You take a moment to appreciate her muscular arms before listening to her response.

“I thought we were done talking after you dumped me this past summer” she says with an annoyed voice which you simply chuckle at.

You sit yourself in her lap and while she seems annoyed at first, you feel a strong arm wrap around your waist, “So, I heard that the new girl Ellie has a major crush on you”

You expect her to scoff, or roll her eyes, or something to that effect. What you don’t expect is Abby smiling softly to herself as a blush spreads across her cheeks, “Really? She does?” Abby says in an almost timid voice while keeping her gaze on Ellie.

Oh hell no

Your smirk drops for a moment before you recover and decide to pull out the big guns, you make yourself tear up and sniffle a little while looking away so you can pull some convincing crocodile tears to your eyes.

Abby pulls her attention away from Ellie immediately and lifts your chin gently, “Whoa, what’s wrong?” she asks in a concerned voice

You look up at her through your lashes, really milking this, “I just didn’t think this would be so hard for me” you say through fake sobs, “Just…promise me you won’t break her heart the way you did mine” you say as you get up and start to walk away

“Wait, baby, come here” Abby says and you feel her grab your wrist gently to turn you around.

Bingo

You smirk wickedly for a moment before putting your hurt facade back up as you face her again, “I just feel like you only dated me to make yourself look good” you say while placing a hand on her chest near her heart, “I truly love you Abby, but I was so afraid you’d find someone better than me and leave”

Abby sighs and places one of her hands over yours, intertwining your fingers, “I loved you too, and still do, I could neverfind anyone that could even come close to you” she says in a soft voice that makes you smile as your plan works.

You smile coyly and brush your hand down her arm, taking in her costume before looking up at her again, “You know…I think you have got to be the hottest zombie softball player I have ever seen.”

Abby smirks down at you, “Well considering I’m the only one, I’d say I have an unfair advantage” she says while wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you close

She looks over your costume and speaks in a low voice as her face gets closer to yours, her breath fanning softly over your face, “I’ve seen about five girls wearing the same as you, but none of them can even compare honey” she says and you can feel her lips almost brush against yours.

You smile and pull her in fully, your lips pressing together in a heated exchange from months worth of tension since the summer.

When you pull away and look past Abby’s shoulder, you manage to catch the smallest glimpse of Ellie running out the door, and you smile to yourself.

beautiful woman and her man who has never combed his hair this is my wag au for the fest!!!! i have talked to many a friend (including you) about this wip, and everyone seems to be very excited which i am happy about :)) basically, it's loscar with trans girl logan as the wag. they're very sweet and in love and it is simultaneously annoying and adorable to all of their friends. the main cast also includes max fewtrell (my beloved) as oscar's teammate at mclaren, lando norris as logan's bestie and max's wag, fred vesti as the most amazing supportive friend anyone could ask for, and a few other things that i am still working out (lawnsonoda is a very real thing that may or may not be included in this fic). i plan for it to be a semi linear narrative, by having the 2023 f1 season as the main thing but with flashbacks, social media, and other things sprinkled throughout. you have seen some of my outrageous planning and this will be a behemoth when i am done. i'm so excited!!!!!

New to your ocs so let’s start with the basics. #1 and #5 for fun!

First of all, thanks for the ask!! Gonna use Syrcid and Laesynn for this one:

1. Write a basic lowdown of your OC. What's their deal?

These two idiots saw the Shadow of the Dragon in their Dream. Laesynn went “we should avoid that” and wanted to just Live His Life with his brother while Syrcid went “wow I wanna be that” and wanted to join the Nightmare Court. Laesynn managed to keep Syrcid on a tight leash and they got to Live Their Life for a while but then Syrcid ended up joining the Court anyways and Laesynn got yeeted to personal story hell shortly afterwards.

Syrcid’s one of those charismatic, manipulative types, so they did pretty well for themself in the Court. They managed to land themself a position in the retinue and proceeded to ally themself with Gavin’s faction (until a certain someone killed him), and later on, with Chrysanthea’s. They have some morals, but they're tenuous at best. Honestly, they just like playing 4D mind games against other courtiers.

Laesynn’s not great with people and comes off as kind of standoffish and rude, but hey, he’s scarily good at beating people up so let’s not point that out, okay? He might not act like it, but he does care, and somehow that made him candidate number one for Pact Commander. He never wanted to be responsible for all those lives but that ended up being his job anyways, so he at least made sure he was going to do it right.

Up until HoT the two of them pretended like each other didn’t exist and they managed to gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss everyone around them into believing it. Pod twins? What are those?  

They eventually ran into each other in Verdant Brink – Laesynn chasing after Trahearne and Syrcid just trying not to go mordrem like the other courtiers – and they eventually made up with each other as they traveled through the jungle. Laesynn resigned from the Pact after that whole shitshow and is mainly a fisherman/risen destroyer. Syrcid works with Chrysanthea to institute a less torture-y/murder-y version of the Court and help courtiers re-integrate back into sylvari society.

5. Their most favorite map/place in general?

Syrcid: the area around Ventry Bay in Caledon Forest. It’s where they and Laesynn “grew up” and there’s some really good memories there.

Laesynn: Siren’s Landing. The Zhaitan campaign was one of the defining parts of his life and now he’s taken it upon himself to continue Trahearne’s life’s work down in Orr. He takes great pride in seeing that moldy continent get un-Zhaitan’d (also he just likes beating up risen).

Also, de's an hercules beetle. I also have a colored version of her, but it's dark so I can't take it. Lots of purples and yellows though.

I was inspired by Armada Megatron a lot when making hir. Y'know, the horns. But he's also EXTREMELY manipulative and intelligent in my fan-continuity. She's also a dad to an adopted daughter ^^ Gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss am I 'rite??

I have so many thoughts regarding him and Optimus and Starscream and her daughter and- GHURRRRRGHHH.

On another note, my friend said that Starscream's marker version was ugly because the blue eyes were too similar to the green, so I made a version of him in gray as well. And yes, he does have a blue tongue actually. And Megatron has a red one.

Megatron and Optimus' relationship in my continuity is really obsessive on Megatron's side. There's also a phrophercy that Megatron decided to interpret as Optimus would bring about his fall. Optimus is just the messenger.

I want to tell ya'all the entire story, but I'm trying to keep characters separated here, so yeah.

Megatron is a zero-to-hero guy. Started from the bottom, made his way to the top, but forgot his goal along the way.

His life began in the slums of Iacon, where xe happened to do many odd jobs. He was known for being reliable, smart, and quiet, so it was no wonder that people from the upper castes also started using his services. It was mainly guard or delivery duties, but there were some more interesting ones in there too.

An assassination. They wanted her to assassinate someone. They wanted them to kill someone. Of course vi did it. Xer was getting paid for it after all! That's how he first got zir first 'taste of blood'.

Those jobs were becoming more and more popular, and he had gathered enough shanix to rent an apartment and pay for their education. Politics had always interested hir, after all.

Eventually getting rid of bots wasn't just for money. It was to nab new positions, manipulate someone else more controllable in those places...

By that point, vi had quite a network. But it wasn't enough. Ze wanted more. New planets, galaxies. All for the betterment of Cybertron, as she said.

Practically all of Cybertron was under his claws, but a small rebellion had begun rising up. Their ideas became more and more popular, and they called themselves Autopods.

The situation only grew larger, until there was a full-blown civil war between the Autopods and the Deceoticons, as they were labeled by the Autopods.

Cybertron was running out of energon, so Megatron with himself in the lead went out to look for new sources of Energon, while the Autopods did their best to survive and also stop Megatron from stripping planets of the sunstance.

That's howvthey ended up on Earth, where they reakize to their horror, that there, they are the tiny ones.

@drill-teeth-art was the one that inspired me to make this fan-continuity and they have a really cool style as well! I love how the drawings look on paper, with the markers and all, which is how I gathered enough courage myself to try markers. Big thanks!

uhhh okay but i'll only talk about my monster prom ones for now, because i have a lot of those, and if i talked about my general ones too then this post would be too long (and it's already gonna be too long with just my MP ones lol)

My one and only "proper" OC (which is that they attend Spooky High and interacts with the main cast) is Azzy! He's species is "Demon But Not Really", which is just to say he is a doll that's being animated via blood magic. I had a whole long draft done for a long-ass fic I was gonna write about him, but I ended up deleting it lol He is an amnesiac demon who Damien just kinda found one day. He just sticks to Damien and begs him not to kill him, and Damien pities him enough to keep him around and help him out to find out who he is. Azzy is small (well not physically, he's kinda tall tbh, but he makes himself look small) and meek, which is very odd for a demon, y'know? On an unrelated note, while I have not written a single thing for Azzy, I have made a whole buncha memes about him and his storyline because I have nothing better to do and I would rather do that then write about him. oops? I could go into why he was created, but I'll leave that for another day <3 I don't have much to say about him, because tbh I forgot a lot of things for him, but's a summary of his character. Also here is a playlist I made for him a while back lol And also here's a picrew I made that generally looks like him (best I could do ^^;;)

omg I actually forgot abotu Lady de Ville. I only remembered her when I was looking for the picew of Azzy. Anyways de Ville is a vampire from way-back-when, back when Liam first became a vampire, and was the leader of what was the Dark Side back then. In all honesty I'm too afraid to talk about her, because while I love to daydream, I get too embarrassed when someone asks; she is apart of the Very Long and Sorta Complicated Past I have given Liam. One day I might write a fic about it, idk. But Lady de Ville is the definition of Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss, and is like pretty shitty and evil tbh. I won't go into her but I will give you a picrew of her! (which is not too accurate but oh well I can only do so much lol)

And finally, I have the seven OCs that were mainly created because I became obsessed with worldbuilding Hell for the Monster Prom universe ^^; and so I made the rulers for each Circle. I posted about them before, but here they are again because they didn't properly show up in the tags lol (so yeah this is copy-pasted and is the longest so I'm sorry lol) (and also sorry no picrews, but it's hard to make demons in many of them TwT)

The ruler of the First Circle, Limbo, is Baron Levy (who is my favorite MP OC and can talk about him for days)! He is the youngest of the rulers, becoming Baron at age 19 (and is currently 27 or so). He is shy and reserved, keeping mainly only to himself. He is also Damien’s glorified babysitter bodyguard close friend, and the two often hang out if the prince ever decides to visit Limbo.

The next circle, the Second Circle of Lust, is ruled by Lord Asmos. He was actually the first one I made, as he is Azzy’s father! Once ruled with great power, Asmos was demoted down to the Second Circle, and hates it with a passion, as he now has very little power or say in anything. He only wishes death and despair onto the LaVeys, but other than that he’s just kind of…there.

The Third Circle of Hell is run by Earl Cerci. As it is the Circle of Gluttony, it would only be fitting for her to be a glutton as well–but, a glutton for knowledge. It was said thirst for knowledge that made her Fall, that made her to be cast out of Heaven, but she learned to get over it. She is close friends with Lucien, who met her when she first arrived in Hell. The two are probably the only few ones who use the braincell out of all of the rulers.

The fourth ruler is Marquess Marlon! Marlon, too, is a Fallen Angel, and being the dramatic demon he is, cut off his wings (which won some points with Damien, because damn that’s pretty fucking metal!). He spends most of his time with humans rather than in hell, because he finds them all so Interesting and Funny (especially Italians, for some reason. He usually frequents Italy). In general he just likes to hang around and have fun, and is definitely a “party-now-work-later” kind of demon.

Ruler of the Fifth Circle is Duke Gordie. A powerful warrior, but also a very sleepy boi. He doesn’t care too much for his work–many don’t in all honesty–but is a powerful demon on the battlefield. Respect is a big deal for him, and people have to earn his respect–in battle, of course. He’s a bit of an asshole with anger issues (hence the Circle of Anger), and tends to either be pissed off at everyone or everything, or…sleeping.

He is also childhood friends with Stan, and the two worked together side-by-side during the war in the Eighth Circle (he even got to watch the two fall in love!). He’s also given the highest honor of being considered as Damien’s uncle, which is something he wears as a badge of honor. He just loves violence and danger so much, and loves to get into all kind of situations because of it.

thank you for going into details with your answer it was so interesting 😊 I also love when there's a good group dynamic at the core of a drama! not only does it always add something to the main relationships and characters (I watch kdramas mainly for the romance honestly but it feels weird if the main characters don't interact with other people or don't have other significant relationships in their life even if there's tension and it adds to their personality if we can see the different roles and personalities they take on in their life) but it means we get to see more different types of dynamics between people (I especially like when the core group has people of different ages and/or backgrounds) and I like how it allows writer to play with our emotions and with subplots more too. now that I think about it a lot of the shows I've liked have had that aspect!

out of the shows you've listed I've watched run on, twenty five twenty one, weightlifting wairy kim bok joo and reply 1988. I've also watched some of vincenzo and our beloved summer but not fully (I think I was too busy by the time vincenzo entered its last quarter so I dropped it but I saw most of the ending in gifs since then lol and for our beloved summer I just don't really think I was in the mood for it at the time so I let it go). and rookie cops has been on my to watch list for a while it seemed fun and heartwarming 😊

Hi kdrama secret santa! I’m doing well, but got myself a bit busy (some of it self-imposed busy-ness like deciding to reorganize my room…) How about you? It’s almost Christmas… Do you have any big plans to celebrate? As for me, we usually just have family dinner at midnight of the 25th (then again on actual evening of the 25th)… Basically lots of eating. :P

I do love romance a lot, and yes, I think I primarily watch for romance, too (romcoms mostly), but yeah when there’s well rounded side characters, and good relationships with those side characters, then it makes that romance that much better for me. I loved Run On for that reason, cause it isn’t just about Mi-joo and Seon-gyeom… they have a life outside of each other, and even between each other, past the romance. 

Rookie Cops!!! You should watch it. As you already know, I’m a sucker for group relationships/friendships, and this one is one of the better ones in terms of that. I had no expectations for that show when I started, and was reluctant to actually start because I thought it might be like the other Police University drama that aired just months before that, which I didn’t enjoy, but it surprised me. The growth of their friendship was really well done, and the kids getting involved in the overarching plot made sense. I think it was first and foremost a show about their college experience, and the ~crime/corruption plot is not centre stage (as opposed to the Police University drama…)

The romance is cute in that show, too!!

5 most memorable characters…hmmm I’m just gonna say the 5 that immediately came to mind:

Kim Jenna (Idol: the Coup) - I don’t know why she (and honestly the rest of Cotton Candy) has stuck with me for so long, but probably because the first 3 eps of the drama had her hit rock bottom so many times that I cried for her so much, that when she starts picking herself and her group back up, I just couldn’t help but cheer for her

Hong Cha-young (Vincenzo) - she was just a fun morally grey character that will gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss you. Jeon Yeo-been’s acting throughout gives the character a lot more nuance, especially in the tiny moments you see her anger building under the surface.

Kook Yeon-soo (Our Beloved Summer) - she’s memorable to me because she’s a character who’s had to sacrifice her youth and happiness at a young age in order to make a living for her and her grandma. And when she was young she didn’t know she could rely on other people for help because she’s done it alone for so long, but later on in the story she learns how to rely on people more, and also realize that even back then she was never really alone and has had the support of so many people

Kim Yu-mi (Yumi’s Cells) - a lot of it has to do with seeing Yumi’s… cells. Since they give us so much perspective on her inner thoughts, she’s memorable cause her cells were memorable. Also, I just loved her storyline in the show is realizing that she’s enough and her own happiness shouldn’t have to rely on the person she’s dating. 

Oh Mi-joo (Run On) - I think she’s one of the more well-rounded and well-written characters in drama?? How she has a career, has very specific hobbies, but also some bad habits (like her whack sleep schedule cause of her work). One of the lines that stuck with me is when she said she values herself more than anyone else… and how she doesn’t want to love herself too much, but she doesn’t want to be hard on herself either. Idk I think that’s just beautiful.

I think it’s safe to say my favourite type of character are women :P jk jk I think I like characters I can relate to.. like in some ways I can relate to Yeon-soo, Yu-mi and Mi-joo.

Saw your post on what the hazbin. Well, yes indeed, they DO have a hateboner for viv so much that they bully people mainly other critical blogs, spreads lies about them, and then doesnt see that what THEY do themselves is bullying yet call out on viv for doing it when they're doing the same thing. Whatthehazbin also spread rumors that a certain critical blog was a transphobe all over because of something they said was taken out of context, then they accused them of being 12 years old, when they were actually 18, and the whole critical community went to attack this person. Just being leonest also sided with what the hazbin. Also, crowscritique accused petitprincess1 of sending her followers after them when she indeed did not. I am still somewhat in the crit community, but Its in general full of toxic as fuck people, people who cant take a joke, and sensitive as fuck pussies.

At this point, I am at least hopeful that this damned eye might be clearing up to the point of being good to go, so I can try and get a license here.

In Sweden, everybody has to submit specified vision testing results from an optometrist. They really are not messing around with the DMV eye chart approach I am way more used to. There would also be a whole PITA medical review procedure to go through, though hopefully whoever is handling that will have their shit together better than the DVLA department doing that in the UK is reputed to.

At least neither place is it relying on the standard run of NHS doctors, who are kinda renowned for not knowing what the regulations actually are.* And hopefully the driving license agency itself isn't as obstructionist to, like, everyone--not just disabled people.

(Back in Virginia? I would just keep my mouth shut about all that shit on DMV paperwork--and make it abundantly clear to the opthalmologist that, no, I have absolutely no intention of driving with seriously fucked-up vision in one eye. All they were requiring was a declaration that you are not knowingly planning to drive while significantly medically impaired. Which I truly would not. No lies involved.)

Hassles I really do not need, but as I read the regulations here? That should be the only legitimate barrier to driving. My blood sugar control has been solid enough since I actually got appropriate treatment, that the endo nurse here was jokingly asking if I were really diabetic at all. (Ngl, that automatically freaked me out a little after all the damned medical gaslighting.) They were suggesting that I should maybe back off it some, but now they've seen from CGM data that I'm not having a bunch of lows either.

So far, I've never had a hypo serious enough that I couldn't handle it by myself, much less needed medical attention. *fingers crossed* And that's what they're mainly worried about in terms of road safety: how likely you might be to unexpectedly pass out behind the wheel, or "just" start driving like someone has slipped you several drinks. Which is a pretty understandable concern, whether or not I like the idea of bureaucratic medical reviews with all the ways that can go wrong.

Whether or not I can manage to get set up with a Robo Leg soon (and I am certainly hoping to!), things should be fine on that front. Worst case, there are adaptive controls, which the system here is even supposed to set you up with. I would be fine to go right now with an automatic transmission, much as I don't like them. (And they're unusual in Europe.) Only need one foot for that, worst case. That's what most people in similar situations in the US seem to be doing. Not sure if that simple solution would pass the added official gatekeeping here, but something should be totally workable right now.

At any rate, I never for a second intended to give up driving. The relative difficulty of public transport gives me an even bigger push. Once I am sure I can pass the vision testing--and, you know, actually feel safe myself to get behind the wheel? I do intend to try and get that ball rolling.

A decent bit sharper curve to get there than it would have been back home, including with not having driven at all for 10+ years now. 😬 But hey, I am pretty determined.

Just having the option would do A LOT for my wellbeing in general. Should help me get out more with way less spoon drain, and actually get more shit accomplished. It certainly did the last time I was back home, though working around some different disability specifics at that point. In a way, I was very sorry to have to go back to where I had to depend on public transport. 😑

* I did run into this one otherwise total asshole opthalmologist I kept getting stuck seeing, who chose to keep browbeating me basically over being diabetic at all--rather than treat the actual problem before it snowballed. But, he ALSO repeatedly threatened to report me to the DVLA for just being diagnosed with retinopathy. With the explicit goal of getting my license yanked over the diagnosis itself. (Who knows what that dude was planning to claim, though. Or what shit he might have actually pulled in other patients unfortunate enough to deal with him 😒)

When, at the time? I'd never held a British license, and it was not affecting my actual vision whatsoever. Yet. 😬 And in reality, under DVLA regulations, I was golden.

She was originally a wolf demon and was found as a young pup by a clan of sheep demon, the clan went "oh hey free child" and yoINK! As she grew up she got,,, sheepified? She grew wool and horns, and now she just looks like a really weird sheep (think like, kind of uncanny valley sheep, u think its a sheep until u get closer and see the fangs the fur and the claws but then its too late lol).

Wolf saw how doctors were v rich or had lots of trade, and went "hey, i want that" and decided to use her energy vampiric bite for mostly good use. Her powers are just, she's just a sponge, she absorbs all energy (thats why she got sheepified in first place lol) so she can store and take large quantities of energy and use it to quickstart the healing or slow it down to administer help.

She, more than a short temper, has a more of a "no-bullshit" kind of temper. If someone doesnt pay, she usually ends up taking the equal amount of power she wants in payback (she can be bribed tho, gotta love my grey-tending to dark-morally dubious girlboss, gaslight gatekeep</3). But if the patients annoy her too much, she can and WILL chomp and kill them. She's a demon doctor, mostly, and a good one at that, so the patients are willing to chance the possibility of getting killed in exchange of some good ol healing (also, her strict "no killing or harming patients in my fucking clinic you morons" make her an attractive options for fools who tend to make too many enemies lol)

okay, so - the aforementioned flaming bad take is obviously based on these caps:

these are taken from 236, when we learn about tomura's (or rather, tenko's, because I think there needs to be a distinction between the two in this case) childhood. from the outset, this seems cut and dry - if you don't read anything other than this, I would excuse you for thinking this is just another case of "crazy kid seeks bloodlust, kills family."

I'm here to tell you why that's a load of bullshit.

okay, let's cover some bases, and talk a little bit about child psychology:

During their development between the age of two to five, children do not understand that death is irreversible. [x]

as we learn in 235, tenko is five when his quirk begins to manifest - his skin starts to dry around his eyes, he develops an itch, and we can assume shortly afterwards is when the actual decay quirk forms.

as stated above, preschool aged children do not have the same concept of death as adults; they think of death as temporary, even fixable. this is how you get children saying things like "but how can grandma breathe all the way down there?" and "did it hurt when they burned daddy?"; to a preschool aged child, death is akin to taking a trip - it is something that can be returned from. [x]

to say that tenko - a child of five years old who has already gone through abuse (a common effect - even in cases where the abuse is not physical - of which being stunted emotional growth/development, and in particular difficulty understanding the consequences of their actions [x] [x] [x]) understands the finality of death enough to comprehend the consequences of a quirk that has only just developed, immediately after the trauma of physical abuse from his father and then unwillingly causing the death of the rest of his family, is absolutely absurd.

"but he said he knew what he was doing!" you say.

now we're really getting into the meat of this, let's talk about a couple reasons as to why shigaraki tomura is an unreliable narrator.

tomura - not tenko, because it's important to remember this is shigaraki that is recounting these events to us - does say that he believes that in some way he did this on purpose.

however, I am once again going to bring our friend context back into the equation.

shigaraki tomura has undergone serious indoctrination by all for one for the majority of his life, the majority of which being in his formative years, and especially regarding this particular event. the entirety of afo's introduction in regards to tomura's origin story literally revolves around the death of his family and his "itch to kill," so let's talk about some ways in which afo might have affected tomura's perception of that day:

this is the most out there, and the most tinhat-ty of the theories, so I'm getting it out of the way first. I think it's worth it to put in here anyway, because it does still touch on afo's overwhelming influence, but this is pretty much all speculation.

in 237, tomura mentions the memories of "that day" being repressed up until his fight with re destro when they come back to him. the theory is that these memories - and by proxy, the feelings that came with them - were placed into his head by afo as a child, and are not reflective of his actual actions/feelings.

like I said, I think this is the weakest argument in this particular context, but it would explain some of the convenient events (i.e. the grandson of shimura nana, the one person afo wants on his side, just so happening to kill his family) that lead to tenko meeting afo. it's an interesting idea, and one I like, but it's not the one we're gonna focus on for this argument.

2. a helping hand

sit back and watch me girlboss and gatekeep this shit, cause this is where we really start to talk about gaslighting.

Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse where a person or group makes someone question their sanity, perception of reality, or memories. [x]

regardless of whether afo orchestrated the death of tenko's family as posed in the above theory or not, it's irrefutable that he is the first and only person to to offer tenko support following the incident. this puts afo in a position of power and worship over tenko, which is the perfect breeding ground for this type of psychological abuse.

afo praises tenko, tells him he's powerful, and that he's proud of him, gives him his name, and assures him that it's okay to want to hurt the people who have hurt him, and not only that, but that they deserve it when he does.

afo creates an environment where tenko/tomura worships the ground he walks on, then builds the narrative that the ones who hurt us deserve to be punished. so why would tomura, who blatantly in the text says he felt immense guilt for killing his family, not try to lessen that guilt by saying they deserved it?

3. scratching the itch

"but what about the itchiness? he said it went away when he killed his father, it's obviously tied to his need to decay, he can't be saved if his instinct is to destroy!"

I'm going to pose a little theory here: tomura's itchiness is not a symptom of his quirk. it's a psychosomatic disorder caused by the abuse from his father, and then later heightened by the abuse he received at the hands of afo.

Psychosomatic disorder [is a] condition in which psychological stresses adversely affect physiological (somatic) functioning to the point of distress. [x]

tenko's itching starts near enough to the development of his quirk that it's pretty easy to see why the two might be related, it's also shown to be in DIRECT correlation with any time his father verbally or physically abuses him. the first time we see him itching, it's after his father drags him across the house. he also says in the text that it (his face) "gets itchy when I'm at home," meaning it mainly manifests in environments his father is in.

afo abuses this knowledge, and turns it into a weapon used to create the "symbol of fear" he's always wanted - he tells tomura that holding back will only intensify the itch; he has to let go if he wants it to ever truly go away. the itching stopped when he killed his father (because finally, his abuser - the stressor for this reaction - was gone), so it must be natural! it must be natural for him to want to destroy, so he should follow his heart, and that will make afo proud.

and the only thing tomura has ever wanted to do was make afo proud.

let it be known, I'm not arguing any of this to take away tomura's agency or absolve him of his crimes - he absolutely has killed people knowingly, and with full consciousness. but the idea that tomura - or any child - was "born evil" or can never be saved because of actions done under extreme stress, and tainted by further psychological abuse, is fucked up, and it just straight up is not backed up by the text.

tomura's whole character is based on the fact that if someone had been there to save him, he would not have grown up to be the way he is today. to put the blame of his character on his quirk, or his personality, or just the fact he was born fucked up shows a blatant disregard for the themes of his character, and the themes of bnha as a whole.

no one is too far gone that they can't be saved. especially not a scared little kid looking for comfort when they never had any.
