there's just something about the disingenuous fuckboy flirty ones pining quietly as the kind do-gooder gentlemanly ones fall in love with someone else that gets me every single fucking time

Some symptoms of media brainrot, when The Media consumes you, in increasing order of "this is a serious case doc":
-re-reading/watching/engaging with The Media (just want to experience the story again is all!)
-saving fanart from The Media on your phone in a Special Folder (I just like looking at them!)
-making art/pics of characters your device background (bonus points for doing this across more than one device)
-bringing The Media up in conversation on a regular basis (Have you heard the good word?)
-buying merchandise (bonus points for fan-made merch)
-"I made a playlist" (bonus points if there's more than one…)
-seeing innocuous things and going "heh that's like my blorbo" (even if it's like. a leaf on the ground, or a couch.)
-The Media being referred to by your loved ones as "[name]'s thing"
-making charts to keep track of characters/dynamics/relationships
-dressing like your favorite character in a subtle cosplay for day-to-day life (which I've totally never ever done. don't look at me like that…)
-actual cosplay
-owning several copies of The Media (well, there was a special edition, and this one has a different cover, and-)
-dedicating a significant physical space to The Media (it's just a shelf not a shrine I SWEAR)
-and lastly, most damning of course: making several of your own fan creations for The Media (I'm just gonna doodle them once, just one thing and then it'll be out of my system. right?)

I could be good in textual comprehension if I really put my mind into it, but I prefer to go to Tumblr dot com and have people interpret the text for me. I'm just built like that

i feel like a lot of the 'i hate kids' crowd would be more tolerant if they understood that due to a kid's limited experience of the world that 4 hour flight might just be the longest they've ever had to sit still for or that trapped finger might literally be the most pain they've ever felt in their short life or they might not have ever seen a person with pink hair ever so of course they want to touch it or nobody's told them yet that they can't run around the museum and they only just learned cheetahs are the fastest animals so of course they want to put that to the test. how were they supposed to know etc etc.

Sometimes I wish we would start calling out the performative radicalism on this site for the poser bullshit it is. "Remember, it's always morally correct to kill a cop!" "Don't forget to firebomb your local government office!" "Wow, it sure would be a shame if these instructions on how to make a molotov cocktail got spread around!"
Okay. But you're not killing cops or firebombing government offices. You are posting on a dying microblogging website to a carefully-curated echo chamber that has radicalized itself into thinking that taking the absolute most extreme position on any subject is praxis but that anyone discussing the most practical way to effect actual change is your sworn enemy. You do not have the street cred OR the activist cred to be talking about killing cops, babe.

I hope Barbie is so good and successful it makes every executive that’s turned everything bright and fun made for young girls into edgy boring teen dramas for the last ten years spontaneously combust into flames

Turning off the reblogs on this. At the time I wrote it, it felt like what I needed to say. There's not as much activity on the post now, but when there is, I feel...sort of hollow. We're so far past the point where this even means anything.
Y'all remember "cops aren't supposed to kill guilty people, either", right?
