Hi! A bit short notice, but with the new year I’m planning on holding myself accountable for all the little event-related plans I’ve been making, the first of which is to work on setting up/hosting a GW2 art party!
What is an art party, you might ask? They’re common occurrences in the Final Fantasy XIV community, where artists of all kinds get together to chat, hang out, and create together! Spot a person you know or a character you like the design of? Draw them, take some screenshots, make some gifs, whatever you feel like! The ‘goal’ of attending an art party is not to be drawn, but to draw others, and share with the community! To that effect, we’ll be using the tag #VSArtParty over here and teeechnically on Twitter for those who still use it, so that others can easily find our creations!
This is my first time hosting a non-meta, non-raid related public event, so I’m intentionally keeping it small-scale by only posting about it here and in my guild discord, and when the time comes it’ll be in a private squad not listed in LFG to discourage any potential party-crashers. Should it go over well, expect to see me hosting ones every month in varying locales and maybe even with different themes!
Check under the cut for a bit more info on the location/times!
So I had previously asked people where they think a good setting for an art party might be, and uninstanced home instances with decent lighting were brought up, so I set my sights on the asura home instance in Rata Sum since I rarely see that used for anything. If you have a flying mount, it’s easily accessible by going straight northwest from the main city cube! Otherwise, you’ll need a Teleport to Friend to get over to the spot:
Tumblr media
As mentioned before the cut, I fully intend to rotate between various other suitable locales for future events, but wanted to start here since it feels private enough to not be in anyone’s way unintentionally. It’s also open and well-lit to allow everyone to see each other clearly, which is definitely a plus considering we don’t have a way to inspect characters for a better look.
Regarding the date/time, I polled my guildmates on which night of the week would be best if we were to be hosting a recurring event, and Saturday came through as the best option for us. We have a tendency to base our stuff around in-game reset +/- 1 hour, so the same thing is at work here. Since we’re an NA-based guild, the event will only be hosted on NA servers, but if there’s interest I’d be willing to organize earlier events for people on EU servers in the future! There’s no set end time for the event since it’ll likely peter out on its own after a bit, but from my experience at FFXIV art parties I’d say to expect it to last maybe 4-5 hours at most.
Aaand finally, about the squad itself. Like I said before the cut, I’m going to keep the squad set to private and out of LFG to keep things a bit more chill, so to join you can either whisper my main, Teekzi, for an invite, or type ‘/sqjoin teekzi’ in chat to automatically pop in and get into the right instance!
That’s about all for now, expect me to reblog this a few times between now and the party! See you soon, hopefully! ♥

Asking some AU comp competitors & supporters:
- Are there any AUs you weren't familiar with that have recently caught your attention, or that you would like to learn more about?
- What are some AUs/fanworks that you enjoy, and would encourage more people to go check out? (Doesn't have to be in the comp!)
Oooooooooooh my gosh, SO many!! I wasn't terribly involved in the fandom before this, mostly just stayed in my little remote corner and got whatever happened to find its way into my space. This contest has introduced me to a whole host of fascinating AUs that I'm definitely going to be checking out in the near future. Just to name a few: @noval1t's Void Brothers AU, @theemployees AU, @theserpentsnight's Red Rover AU, @phoebepheebsphibs's Until I Found You AU, @twinpathy AU, @separatedleoau (which I'd seen some content of before, but had yet to check out for myself), @donniesbrows' REBOOT: Second Chance AU, @getindumdums' AU (that I got a brief, but very memorable, glimpse of via that one comic lol), and uuuuhhh...oh gosh, so many. Just- A *lot* of really neat and interesting AUs to be had around here that I found thanks to this competition. THANKS, @tmntaucompetition!!! ❤
I've been a big fan of @vangh17a's Wanderer comic and @kathaynesart's Replica comic for awhile! I also absolutely adore @star-sparkler's fanchild Augustine Hamato and @shiveagit's Spiderverse AU is one of the coolest I've seen, the designs are just - *chef's kiss* - SO beautiful! I also have to take this chance to promote an incredible fanfic series that a friend introduced me to awhile back that I have not been able to put down and as someone who typically isn't the most avid fanfic reader, that means a lot - it's called "Mind Over Matter" by @danzinora-switch on AO3. It's SOOOOO GOOOOOD - the characterization is so on-point, the plot is so well thought-out and developed with good pacing that makes it easy to blow through several chapters in a sitting. I especially love the way the author shows whose perspective a chapter is being told from, it's easy to tell which brother is "narrating" based on the way that they think and how they see things. Mikey's has to be one of my favorite examples of this. Anyway - I won't spoil any of the plot, but I highly recommend giving it a read if you haven't already. 👌
Thanks for the ask, btw - this whole event has been such a fun and thrilling experience for me and it's nice to see people out here spreading love & appreciation for each other's works. Hope you have yourself a nice day!

Mini Fanfic #1143: Nightful Turns of Events (SSBU X Star Fox)
8:45 p.m. Outside of the Smashing Movie Theaters........
Falco: (Walks Out of the Theater Along with the Others Besides Him)......What the hell did he just watch in there?
Fox: A horror movie based on Winnie the Blood....Even saying that out loud feels off-putting
Kazooie: (Already Has a Deadpinned Look on her Face) Everything about that movie is off-putting.
Banjo: Yeah, but at least none of his friends were in it besides him and Christopher. (Starts Shivering at the Thought) I don't think I could stomach through seeing Piglet try and kill someone.......
Kazooie: Or Rabbit. The guy's already a neat freak, imagine how that obsession will play out in a horror flick.
Falco: You think that's bad? How's a movie about Tigger pouncing on people to death just for shits and giggles?
Banjo: (Groans and Sworming in Discomfort) Did you have to come up with that idea? Tigger's one of my favorites! Next to Igor. (Grabs his Chin) Whom I don't think he has anything to work with in a horror world.
Falco: Give the team a few weeks. They'll probably make it the most mess up movie you'll ever see on the big screen.
Banjo: (Shivers a Bit in Fear) H-H-How mess up are we takin' here exactly?
Kazooie: Oh, you know, the basic elements for any twisted horror films: body possession, psychological torture, shadow manipulations. Egor's the most depressed out of the bunch so there's PLENTY for them to with in hindsight.
Fox: ('Sigh') Let's just hope, for our sake, that none of these ideas comes to life in the near future-
?????: Fox!~
Fox and the others turn to see his former Star Fox teammate, Krystal, happily waving at him.
Fox: (Smiles Back at Blue as He Makes his Way Over to Her) Krystal, hey! It's been a while. How's it going?
Krystal: As well as it always been thankful. How about me you? (Smirks a Bit Seductively) You're looking dashing than usual this evening~
Fox: (Smiles Sheepishly While Rubbing the Back of his Head Back and Forth and Blushing) O-Oh, you think so?~ (Looks Down at the Clothes He's Wearing) I'm only wearing blue jeans and a jacket. Nothing really special in hindsight.
Banjo: (Whispers into Falco's Ear) So that's the former teammate you told us about?
Falco: (Simply Nodded as He Watches Fox and Krystal Interacting with One Another) Yep. That's definitely Krystal alright.
Kazooie: I'm gonna go on a limp here and say you're not too happy to see her again, are you?
Falco: (Starts Shaking his Hand From Side to Side) Ehhhh....I feel more awkward about it if anything. It's been years since we last heard from her.
Banjo: (Gives Falco a Reassuring Smile) Maybe you two'll get along again if you talk some more.
Krystal: (Notices her Former Teammate Staring at her in the Distance) Falco, is that you!?
Falco: ('Sigh') Only one way to find out....(Puts on a Semi Bright Smile on his Face as He Makes his Way to his Former Teammate with Banjo and Kazooie Following Behind) 'Eyyyyy Krystal! How you been, girl?
Krystal: (Smiles Back at Falco) I've been doing good so far. Not sure if Fox told you yet or not, but I have gotten myself pretty busy now that I've been apart of Corneria's Elite Air Force.
Falco: Moving on up to the big leagues, huh?~ they ain't been working you too hard in there, have they?
Krystal: (Giggles Softly) Not exactly. The experience there has been going along smoothly for the most part. Though, I would be lying if I say things hasn't quite as cheerful without you boys around.
Falco: Yeah......(Starts Chuckling a Bit Awkwardly Before Frowning a Bit and Looking Away) Cheerful.....
Banjo: .....Uhhh (Quickly Sticks his Hand Out Towards Krystal's Point of View) M-My name is Banjo, ma'am! One of the new competitors in the Smash Bros Tournament.
Kazooie: And I'm Kazooie, the only girl who loves this honey bear enough to keep him alive for this long.
Banjo: (Gives Kazooie a Deadpinned Look on his Face) Do you always have to say that to every new people we meet?
Kazooie: (Casually Shrugs) Nothing wrong with throwing in a little honesty here and there, hun.
Banjo: Your honesty can be a real hassle at times.
Kazooie: (Lays her Head onto Banjo's Shoulder) And yet you still love me all the same~
Banjo: (Sighs in Defeat While Blushing a Bit) Yeah......I do.
Krystal: (Giggles Softly as She Shakes Banjo's Hand) It's nice to meet the both of you. I hope the tournament has been treating you well so far-
Before Krystal could finish her sentence, the sound of a slow, sinister sounding whistle managed to catch the gang's attention as they turn to see a black hooded figure standing in the background, holding two sickles in each hand.
Once the whistling ended and he begins to walk closer to the gang, the hooded figure reveals himself to be none other than Fox's longtime rival: Wolf O' Donnell.
Wolf: Buenas noches, perdedores?
Fox: (Couldn't Believe What He's Looking at Right Now) Wolf?
Krystal: What on Corneria City, are you wearing?
Kazooie: (Raises an Eyebrow in Confusion) And since when did know how to speak Spanish?
Wolf: For some time now. Took a few Spanish classes here and there and I've been bit of a pro at it ever since. As for what I'm wearing.....(Forms a Cocky Smirk on his Face) ('Heh') Let's just say this will be a ticket for me to win the Halloween Costume Contest big time this year.
Falco: (Starts Snickering a Bit) So what? You're supposed to be some kind of hunchback wolf monster or somethin'?
Wolf: No. I'm going as Death himself.
Falco: ('Scoffs') You? Death?
Wolf: Yeah. Death. (Starts Walking Dangerously Close to Falco) And I don't mean it metaphorically or rhetorically or poetically or theoretically or in any other fancy bullshit. I am Death. Straight. UP.
Wolf silently growls at Falco until......
????: WOLFIE!!
Wolf and the others turn to see Isabelle and the other Star Wolf in their own respective costumes, standing in the mid distnce.
Isabelle: (Gives her Boyfriend a Motherly Glare Wearing a Nun Outfit) What did I say about scaring people in public?
Wolf: ('Sigh') Oh come on, Iz. I was only warming up for the contest.
Falco: By tryin' to scare the crap outta me?
Wolf: (Shrugs) Hey, all is fair in Halloween night.
Leon: (Already Has a Deadpinned Look on his Face While Wearing a Ringo Costume) No one ever says that, boy.
Wolf: (Rolls his Eyes) Yeah, well, I'm the first one who does, So there. (Suddenly Hears Krystal Giggling as He Turns to Her with a Glare) And what the hell got you laughing for, blue tail?
Krystal: Oho nothing~ (Forms a Teasing Smirk on her Face) Just relishing on the fact that the "Big Bad Star Wolf" goes by Wolfie now!~ (Continues Giggling)
Isabelle: (Smiles Brightly) I call him that on a daily basis. (Place her Hands on Both of her Cheeks While Twisting her From Side to Side in Full Glee) It makes me so happy to know that he likes it~
Wolf: (Starts Blushing) I mean.....(Shrugs) Yeah. I like any nickname you give me, babe.....(Still Hears Krystal's Giggling Before Angrily Pointing at Her) And don't get any ideas, woman! No one in town is allowed to call me except for my girlfriend!!
Isabelle: (Turns to Krystal) My name is Isabelle by the way.
Krystal: (Finally Calms Herself Down From all the Giggling) Nice....to meet you. My name is-
Panther: (Sneaks his Way Right Next to Krystal Dressed as Zorro) Krystal mi antiguo amor!
Krystal: (Forms a Deadpinned Look on her Face as She Begins to Sigh) Just Krystal is fine, Panther.
Panther: Yes, yes, but given our past, memorable history together, I believe it's fairly appropriate to call you as such. That being said.....(Forms a bit of a Flirtatious Smirk on his Face) You look more refined as you've always been these days~
Krystal: (Rolls her Eyes in Annoyance) And you are just as full of yourself as you've always been.......
Panther: (Chuckles Lightly) Oh come now, I wouldn't say I'm THAT full of myself. I just feel like my skills and overall beauty outweighs any bland simpleton in this place, not including Star Wolf of course.
Kazooie: (Rolls her Eyes as Well) And you wonder why you two aren't together anymore.
Falco: Narcissism at it's finest.
Panther: (Turns to The Bird Duo) Better a narcissist than being feather filled bird brains such as yourselves, 24/7.
Falco/Kazooie: (Comically Glares at Panther) What was that!?
Leon: ('Sigh') As much as I would love stay out here and chat, I believe we still have a contest to enter.
Wolf: Right, right. Already wasted enough time as it is. Panther! (Starts Walking Away Along with Leon) Quit your flirting and let's go already!
Panther: ('Sigh') Coming, boss. (Turns Back to Krystal One Last Time) Be see you~ (Winks at Krystal Before Taking his Leave)
Krystal: Hopefully never.....
Isabelle: It's so nice to meet you, Krystal, and I'll be sure make Panther doesn't bother you too much the next time we do meet again.
Krystal: (Smiles Sheepishly) Y-You don't have to do that for my sake, Isabelle. I appericate it very much though.
Isabelle: (Smiles Back at Krystal) No problem. I'm always willing to help out a new friend in need. (Picks her Dress Up a Little Before Sprinting to Star Wolf and Waving Goodbye) Have a goodnight, everyone!~
Wolf: Have fun with your little date night tonight, Foxy.
Fox: ('Sigh') I'm not dating anyone, Wolf. (Comically Glares at Wolf) And don't call me by that in public!
Wolf: Could've fool me. And if I have to suffer with my nickname being revealed tonight, so does you. (Looks Back at his Arch Nemesis with an Evil, Cocky Grin on his Face While Walking) Foxy boy. (Let's Out an Evil Chuckle)
Fox: (Groans in Annoyance as He Pinches the Bridge of his Nose) I swear, I don't know how I'm able to put up with him all day......(Hears Krystal Giggling Before Turning Back to Her) And what got you laughing right now?
Krystal: I'm sorry~ It just......You actually go by "Foxy" now?~
Fox: Only by a select few of people and i hated it ever since.
Krystal: Well, If you want my input....(Smiles Softly) I believe it suits you quite well.
Fox: (Starts Blushing Again) Oh. I uh....glad you....like it, Krystal.
Banjo: I think it suits you quite well too.
Fox: ('Sigh') Much appericated, Banjo.
Kazooie: (Snickers a Bit) Yeah. For a dork.
Falco: (Starts Smirking Teasingly) I think Einstein suits him way better if ya ask me.
Fox; ANYWAYS! What brings you here tonight, Krystal if you don't mind me asking.
Krystal: I'm just having a nightly scroll around the town given I'm going to be moving here real soon.
Fox: (Eyes Widened in Genuine Surprise) Seriously?
Krystal: (Happily Nodded) It's true. I've been told by my crew mates how vibrant and expressive this place so many times that I figured I would come live here someday and see where it takes me from here. Which mean we'll have plenty of more time to catch up this time around, don'tcha think?~
Fox: Yeah....(Starts Smiling Back) T-That sounds great actually! I really hope you enjoy your stay when the time comes for you to move here.
Krystal: Thank you. Though, I must ask.
Fox: Hm?
Krystal: If any of you are not busy at the moment, would you all like to accompany me around town for a bit?
Fox: Sure, I'm down. (Turns to the Others) What about you guys?
Falco: (Shrugs) Fine by me.
Banjo: (Happily Nodded) Yeah-huh.
Kazooie: Not like we're doing anything else in the meantime.
Fox: (Turns Back to Krystal) There you have it. We're in.
Krystal: (Smiles Brightly) Spendid!~ Here's hoping tonight won't be too boring for us- (Felt her Phone Viberating in her Pants Pocket Before Taking it Out of There Sees Who's Calling Her) ('Sigh') Not. This again.....Could you excuse me for one bit. I have to take quick call. (Answers the Call) Hello?......Yes, commender, what is it? And please it isn'tan emergency this time......(Starts Walking a Bit Further Up to Continue her Call in Private)
Kazooie: So that Krystal girl's moving here, huh?
Banjo: (Smiles Brightly at Fox) Lucky you! You'll be seeing her more often for now on.
Fox: (Too Busy Staring at Krystal) Yeah.....It is great, isn't it-
Falco: You're starting to like her again, aren't you?
Fox: (Turns to Falco) Well....Yeah. I mean....We were friends back then, even more so nowadays, so-
Falco: Fox. Come on. (Turns to Fox With a Serious Look on his Face) You know exactly what I mean.
Fox: (Stares at Falco For a Few Seconds Before Sighing in Defeat) Okay, so maybe I do have a bit of crush on her as of late. And maybe I do think about what would it be like if we started dating again. But right now, I'm more focused on us starting over as friends, nothing more.
Falco: (Stares into his Best Friend's Eyes For a Few Seconds Before Letting Out a Sigh of his Own) Alright. I'll take your word for it. But ONLY if you promise me one thing.
Fox: Like what?
FaIco: Just.....be more careful this time, okay? You've been a complete wreck since the day she left the team and the last i want is for you go back to being sad and miserable, ya hear me?
Fox: Loud and clear. I promise I won't be careless this time. (Puts on a Determined Look on his Face) And I'll be damned if I let the past take control of this time around.
Falco: (Forms a Proud Smirk on his Face) That's a spirit. (Pulls Fox into a One Arm Hug) Annnd if you two ever DO get back together someday, don't be too chicken to ask you pal Falco for some love advice, will ya?
Banjo: (Smiles Brightly) Kazooie and I more than willing to help out if you want.
Kazooie: Same here. (Smirks Teasingly) And we'll make extra sure you don't go around making a fool our of yourself. Been a blushing mess all night.
Fox: (Roll His Eyes) No kidding. But no, seriously. Thanks, you guys. I really appreciate it.
Falco: Yeah, no mention. Now don't embarrass yourself this time.
Fox: (Comically Glares at Falco) I won't!

Bad Luck Birthday
Bruno knew what he wanted his birthday to look like. Him and his family, with maybe a few extra friends, enjoying cake and spending quality time together while having fun. A nice, small, calm celebration. Yet no matter how tight he kept his fingers, how long he held his breath, or how much wood he knocked on, his wish never came true.
Ever since he could really remember, his and his sisters birthdays were not just a family celebration- but also the whole town's. The "few extra friends" always turned out to be the ever growing population of Encanto, all crammed into the rather overworked Casita.
He hated it.
Bruno knew it wasn't the best that he had come to hate his own birthday, but he couldn't help it. Like everyday of his life it seemed, it was a show. Julieta spent the upcoming days making enough food for the whole town, Pepa had to focus to keep the skies as clear as they could be. And he… well, he didn't really do anything. Anymore at least.
To that, due to some terrible luck or cursed irony, every year something bad managed to happen, and it was all because of him. Whether it was him helping Julieta cook and almost burning the kitchen down, or mixing up what was the juice and what was the wine- he never seemed to be very lucky on that day.
Bruno sighed. All this worrying and it wasn't the day of the event. No, instead here he was, pacing around the room at… he squinted his eyes. 2:30 in the morning.
Great.
It didn't help that his friend of many years, recently made novia, Sandra wasn't allowed to come to the celebration. Not that she ever was, with her father being one of the few who saw the Madrigals gifts as 'unnatural', but the ever increasing trouble she got in by coming to his birthdays (or just seeing him anyways-), meant that the day before he assured her that he would be fine and that she shouldn't come to it.
"So you're saying I shouldn't come to your own birthday?!".
To say that Sandra wasn't too eager about what he said would've been an understatement. He had been trying to reason with her for a good solid 10 minutes now.
"No, no! Of course you can come, it's just we both know you'll get into trouble for it!" Bruno said.
She scoffed. "I don't care if I get into trouble, I always seem too get into it anyway, but there is no way I'm missing your birthday!".
He sighed. "Look its not even that much of birthday, its just some boring formalities in front of the whole town- Last time it took me a full hour to find you! So lets just- we can just celebrate it the day after, that way we can do what we actually want.".
"But-"
"Sandy please" he cut off her protests, taking her hands and looking up at her with puppy dog eyes. ""I've done this before- 22 times to be exact" he weakly chuckled. "I'll be fine".
Oh how wrong he was.
After managing to get a few hours of sleep, Bruno's day started like the days years earlier. He got up, already tired from the lack of sleep the night before, and got dressed into the most formal attire he had, a fancy white shirt with a neat pair of trousers, topped with a green vest bearing his signature hourglass symbol.
Not that anyone would really see his formal attire anyway, he thought, putting his rather oversized ruana on.
As he combed his raven hair Bruno frowned, already seeing a few silver strands. He honestly hoped he didn't go grey by 30, remembering a vision he’d done for a now upset townsperson.
He'd probably see that person today. And everyone else he managed to spite.
He gulped.
Bruno reached to open the door but found he was frozen in place. He could almost hear his heart pounding against his chest. Miercoles. He wasn't even out of the door and he could barely breathe?!
Taking a step back, he sighed before springing into action almost like it was automatic. Fingers crossed, deep breath in, and 3 knocks on the door. He was ready to go.
Once downstairs (he could swear they were getting longer everyday-) he followed the smell of fresh foods into the kitchen.
"Woah!"
Even if this wasn't a common sight for Bruno, he'd be lying if he weren't impressed at not only the variety of food his sister made but also how much of it. The table was lined with full plates of all sorts of foods, but his eyes wandered over to the cakes. Torta Negra, the vibrant red of rollo rojo de guayaba, the silky cream on top of the torta de tres leches and more- it was enough to make his mouth water.
Humming a song to himself, his hand reached for a tasty looking tortita negra only for it to be smacked away.
"Uh- hey!" He looked up to see Julieta.
"These are for the later, when the guests arrive"."
"Aww come on, I can't even have cake on my own birthday?!" He whined in protest, still eyeing the cakes and trying to grab one whenever Julieta looked away.
"Of course you can, just not these and not yet! mamá wants everything to be perfect for when the guests arrive!" Julieta replied while organizing the kitchen counter.
With her back turned, his hand moved to swipe a piece.
'Clink clink clink'
The Casita moved its tiles, alerting Julieta who swatted Bruno's hand away, again.
"Gracias, Casita"
Bruno just looked shocked. Did the Casita really just snitch on him?
Realizing that he wouldn't be able to snatch it, he turned to phase 2;-pleading with her.
"Oh Julie please, you have no idea how hungry I am!"
"Well then you shouldn't have skipped breakfast!" Julieta replied, unphased.
He groaned, getting right in front of her, doing the best puppy eyes he could. "Please Julie?-Think about it, for your hermanito?"
While Julieta fully knew that he only used the 'hermanito' card to get what he wanted (usually arguing that a few minutes didn't make him the 'little' sibling), partly because she had a soft spot- and to get him out of the kitchen, she gave in.
"Fine, you can have one, of course I can't say no to my little Brunito!' She cooed teasingly, squishing his cheeks as he squirmed away from her, taking the tortita negra and eating it with a satisfied smile.
"Mmm, those cakes look delicious!" Pepa walked in, instantly eyeing the display of food, Julieta audibly groaning.
"You can have one, then please- get out!" Julieta said, Pepa and Bruno giggling. Even as adults they'd be lying if they said they didn't enjoy annoying each other.
"Gracias, Julie!" Pepa said, grabbing one. Then two. Bruno pocketed some for his rats.
"Ay, I said GET out!" Julieta took a rolling pin, chasing the two giggling thieves out the kitchen, Casita making sure to close the door on them.
"Ah, I'm sure she'll forgive us," Bruno said before bursting into laughter with Pepa. For a short, sweet moment, Bruno didn't worry about the party and the expectations on his shoulders, he felt just like he did when they were kids, running around and causing mischief-together. However, it was short lived, as Pepa saw Felix enter the Casita.
"Felix!" With a sudden rainbow above her head, she instantly ran over to him, leaving Bruno alone awkwardly holding too many pastries.
"Hola mi amor!" He twirled her around before giving her a kiss. "Are you ready for your big day?"
"Oh yes! You should see the decorations Casita has around, and the food..."
Their voices faded in the distance as Bruno sighed, walking away and sitting on the steps of the stairs. He watched them two from afar, seeing just how happy Felix made her (as always), and couldn't help but wish that Sandra was by his side. Of course, he and everyone realized that Felix was always allowed over so much so that mamá didn't have to worry about the weather, but Bruno still missed her company, anyone's company really. The scared and spiteful townspeople didn't count. He was alone for his own birthday.
'Squeak!'
Well, not entirely.
Bruno couldn't help but smile as he looked down. "Hola, Bonita," He said quietly, petting the curious rat behind her ear. Two others scuttered out from his ruana, one sitting on his shoulder and the other grooming itself on his lap.
"At least I can always count on you." he weakly chuckled, breaking off pieces of the ponque and giving them to the rats who ate them quickly before looking up at him expectantly for more.
"Heh, always hungry, never satisfied." He mumbled in between bites of his piece of torta negra, letting the rats have the rest.
"Bruno! Pepa!"
His rats perked up, immediately hiding back inside the ruana (something he had totally not taught them).
"Ah, there you are!" Alma huffed as she walked over, hands together like- they always were when she meant business. "Where is your sister- PEPA!" She called out.
Bruno sat on the step, pretending that he didn't have a mouth full of the cake that he-totally-wasnt-supposed-to-be-eating-or-anything.
"Coming mama, coming!" Pepa called back a little wearily, but she couldn't help smiling giddily with Felix by her side.
With the three there, Alma cleared her throat before speaking. "The guests will start arriving shortly, as always I want you to be there to welcome them inside. Make them feel at home here..."
Bruno gulped quietly while listening to her. Even if the whole town didn't seem to hate, him it was still awkward and nerve wracking for him. Make them feel at home? How was he supposed to do that? Just tell them they could nap anywhere and let them use his toothbrush?!
"Bruno."
His attention was brought back as he realized, in his worry, he hadn't been exactly focusing on what his mamá was saying.
Alma sighed. "As I was saying, Pepa and Felix will wait outside to welcome our guests, you.." she evidently faltered. He wasn't exactly a people-person to begin with, and with his negative visions, the townspeople were either scared of him, angry, or both.
She smiled, so obviously forced that even Bruno could tell. "Bruno, y-you can go and greet them with Julieta when she's finished in the kitchen.".His stomach fell a little as he felt conflicting emotions. On one hand he was scared of greeting the guests that disliked him so, but on the other he could feel his mother's disappointment in him, knowing she told him to wait for Julieta in case any of the guests acted out.
"What are you waiting for? Get a move on!" Alma clapped her hands. "And remember, we're la familia Madrigal!"
"La familia Madrigal!" Pepa and Bruno said, Pepa walking off with her novio and Bruno getting up from the steps, walking down, and eyeing his mother a little wearily as he passed her to get to the kitchen.
"Bruno-"- Mierda, what was it this time?
"Si mamá?..." he turned to face her with a rather nervous smile.
"Why are you wearing your ruana, no -one can see your nice clothes under it!" She put her hands on his shoulders, looking at the admittedly slightly worn and rat chewed ruana.
"Eheh, I- I like it mama! It's comfy..." he trailed off in a nervous chuckle. The last thing he wanted on his birthday was an argument with his mamá, something that was happening more often these days. Yet the thought of taking his ruana off...he just couldn't. He knew he'd sound crazy trying to explain, but he -needed- it. He could hide his rats in there to keep him company, fiddle with the little tussles and material when he was overwhelmed or bored, and hide his scrawny body from others, and himself.
"But it’s not what you should be wearing for your own birthday! The whole town is going to be there, you have to represent the Madrigals." Alma said firmly, looking at him to make sure he'd actually do it.
Bruno really didn't have the energy to argue right now, and every word from his mamá just reminded him of the expectations he had to uphold- ones he often failed to do.
"Si mamá-" he smiled weakly, trailing off and looking down. Alma smiled, glad that he agreed to it.
"Go to Julieta now, Brunito, you can help her with the kitchen before the guests arrive." She said, he nodded, softly saying "Si..". As soon as he turned back from her his fake smile dropped as he quietly sighed and looked down. Her words rang through his mind. 'The whole town is going to be there, you have to represent the Madrigals'. They only made him more nervous than he already was.
He took a deep breath, holding it as he knocked on the kitchen’s door frame a few times before walking in.
"Hola." He smiled awkwardly, giving a small wave to Julieta, knowing she wouldn't exactly be pleased to see him after he stole the food and was subsequently kicked from the kitchen.
"Bruno, I swear to god-" Julieta turned round, rolling pin clutched threatingly in her hand.
"Woah woah! It's okay! I'm not gonna eat more, I promise. Mamá sent me to help you clean up and then welcome the guests." he weakly chuckled, holding his hands up defensively.
"Ah alright then, Casita will still keep an eye on you though." she said, the Casita moving one of its cupboards in a gesture like it was a finger telling him off.
He just chuckled awkwardly, honestly finding himself too nervous at the moment to even eat the temptingly good cakes.
Walking over to where Julieta was, he helped her put the ingredients back to their cupboards. Julieta could tell that he was anxious, his eyebrows furrowed in worry and the complete silence from him was always an indicator something was wrong.
"Hey, it'll be okay hermanito." She smiled reassuringly, putting her hand on his shoulder. Bruno looked up at her, almost surprised at first that she had noticed so quickly, but he figured it was in her nature- and that he wasn't exactly the most subtle..
"Heh, thanks Julie." He smiled back weakly, really more to reassure her that he'd be okay. Secretly he doubted it.
She smiled, looking into his eyes reassuringly. She had always had a motherly instinct towards others.
"Let's go and welcome the guests inside, okay?" She said, looking at him partly as if he were about to make a run for it- something he admittedly felt like doing.
"Si.." he trailed off, following Julieta out of the kitchen and to the entrance of the casita. Just walking through the empty house that would so soon be filled to the brim gave him shivers. The roar of their distant chatter grew louder and louder as they approached the entrance, and for a moment Bruno found himself frozen, just staring ahead and trying to breathe. Already it seemed so loud, so much. Was it more than before? Of course, it always was. Maybe he could just go back up to his room and hide? Maybe nobody would notice-
"Bruno?"
He snapped back into reality, seeing Julieta right in front of the entrance, looking at him with a mix of concern and confusion.
Bruno held his breath and crossed his fingers. Uno…dos…tres …4…5…6…and exhale, he knocked on the wooden pillar lining the wall, finally walking up to Julieta.
Here he goes.
He stepped outside with her, having to go to the side of the guests that made their way indoors. Just like before, it seemed the whole town was here to celebrate. All apart from Sandra. Of course he didn't blame her, but he wished she was here, to see her face among the crowd...at this moment he'd be overjoyed.
That wasn't going to happen though.
"Welcome inside! You don't have to worry about your belongings, the casita will order them all up!" Julieta smiled as she warmly talked to the guests, and Bruno remembered that he wasn't here to sadly stare at people.
He mentally prepared himself as a couple were about to pass him. This was his chance!
"Ahem, h-hola!". He cleared his throat, greeting them with a smile obviously too wide to be natural. Then he just stood there. Go on, say something!.
They stood there, slightly startled, chuckling very awkwardly as they walked past him.
He sighed. Why did this seem to come naturally to everyone but him?.
He relegated himself to just awkwardly smile and wave at the rest of the incoming townspeople, trying his best to appear as if he didn't want to run away.
Julieta looked at him, honestly pitying her brother and his poor social skills. After a few moments of him awkwardly trying to greet guests and not look hurt at the looks they gave him, Julieta, who had been helping people sort out where to leave their donkeys, called him.
"Hey Bruno!"
Bruno turned, seeing Julieta next to some donkeys and the odd alpaca. He practically scurried over through the crowd to her, ignoring the looks people gave him as he did so.
"I was thinking you could show the Gonzalez's and Lopez's to the stables?" She smiled, trying to actively involve him into actually doing something and not just awkwardly waving at guests.
"Oh! Um yes- follow me!" He told the two families who exchanged cautious looks between each other before following him, taking their animals with them.
This was easy, just show them to the stables, there's no way he could mess it up! Bruno thought to himself, feeling the closest he'd been to confident that day.
"Here they are! You can just leave them in there and come back after." He showed them, chuckling awkwardly. Without saying much they started to gather their animals inside, Bruno just left uneasily standing there.
Deciding to push himself and actually be more helpful, he took a deep breath, gathering the courage to offer help.
"W-would you like some help?"-
The townspeople made a surprised "Hmm?" Before turning back to see him standing there, holding his arm as he often did when nervous, and in general.
"Oh!-Y-yes please, that'd be wonderful" one lady said, clearly a little hesitant at first along with the others, who exchanged skeptical glances before accepting his help.
"Here, you can hold Francesca and Simone." The lady handed him the rope around the two donkeys necks.
"Ooh, could you take Carlos and Paco as well?"
"And Rafeal and Pescado!"
"Woa!-" Bruno didn't even have time to comprehend that someone named their alpaca "fish" when he found himself holding the ropes around the majority of the animals.
"Uh alright, okay." he said more to himself, untangling the ropes. "This is fine, you can do this- I can do this" he quietly muttered to himself.
The first family began to sort out their remaining animals, not long after though they turned their heads back at the sound of music, the party was really starting to get raging.
The family members looked at each other, all seeming to contemplate whether or not to ask Bruno to sort the rest out while they went to the party.
Bruno however didn't notice this, trying to keep 2 donkeys from kicking each other, while awkwardly avoiding eye contact with a rather menacing alpaca, Pescado.
It loomed over him, ominously, looking at him as if the two were long greatest enemies. Bruno just looked down, not wanting to fight an alpaca. Why did it seem to be so filled with hatred towards him? He was confused, making people angry was something he had gotten used to, but admittedly he never thought he'd find himself being loathed by an alpaca.
"Ahem."
His attention was brought back as he looked at the family. "We, were wondering if you could maybe organise the rest of them while we went to the party? -It's just, some of our friends are waiting for us there, that's all!" The woman awkwardly chuckled, wearing a slightly overly sweet smile, as if she knew making the person whose birthday they were celebrating do work while they partied was a little morally ambiguous to say the least.
"Oh! Sure." Bruno however didn't mind at all, this meant he didn't have to be at the party earlier, but he also remembered what his mamá would say. 'It is your job as a Madrigal to help the people of Encanto'.
"Great! Gracias." the people left, leaving him with the donkeys and rather murderous alpaca.
He wasn't concerned though, instead just turning to the animals. "Well I guess it's just you and me, ay amigos?" He sighed, in that moment narrowly missing a hurtling ball of spit from none other than Pescado.
"Wow". Bruno just blinked his now wide eyes in surprise. "I think I'll put you in first."-
He nervously chuckled as he approached the at least 7 foot tall creature, taking the rope and leading the tall hateful creature into the stable.

"Wow". Bruno just blinked his now wide eyes in surprise. "I think I'll put you in first".
He nervously chuckled as he approached the at least 7 foot tall creature, taking the rope and leading the tall hateful creature into the stable.
With quite a bit of effort, he managed to pull the alpaca inside, dodging yet another ball of spit it sent this way. "Not today amigo." he weakly chuckled, knocking on the wooden pillar before grabbing the rope to tie it around.
Huh. Why did others always make it seem so easy?- He furrowed his brows in concentration, trying "There!" He said triumphantly, chuckling in relief. Seeming to set off by his happiness the alpaca jumped towards him, making him yelp in fear as he fell back into the hay.
Bruno closed his eyes and curled into a ball, expecting the hooves of the angry alpaca next, only, that fortunately didn't come. He opened his eyes, confused. The knot seemed to have loosened, but by some miracle still held on, saving him from becoming the alpacas piñata.
"Whew" he chuckled shakily in relief, standing up, and running past Pescado as quickly as possible. "Hah!" He laughed in triumph again, this time out of range of the alpaca that eyed him with pure hatred.
"You! And me!-Not amigos!" He declared, genuinely confused as to why the creature disliked him so much. He remembered how earlier he gave a young girl a vision that her fish would die. Bruno cringed at the memory. It had been a rather big deal, another vision as usual gone bad. He began to wonder if fish in general were just bad luck to him.
"Alright, now the rest of you." he turned back to the couple of donkeys, most idly minding their own business, apart from two that kept trying to kick one another.
Bruno made a point to separate them first, bringing them by their ropes and then tying them to pillars. One by one, he sorted out each donkey, the process very quickly becoming mundane, but he preferred it over the unpredictable alpaca.
"Whew." He stopped to catch his breath, wiping sweat off of his forehead. Now he wasn't so surprised that the people were more than eager to leave them. Bruno turned around, finally! The last one.
He took the rope around the donkey, walking to the stables. "WoA-" Bruno yelped as he fell back, once again into the hay. He sat up, confused and by this point rather frustrated as he turned to the donkey that hadn't moved a muscle and was now looking at him with the same unbothered expression as before.
He sighed, leaning towards the stable and knocking on the wood, before taking a deep breath.
With his nerves somewhat settled, he got up, grabbed the rope and pulled again, at first thinking perhaps he just thought the donkey was still in place like a statue.
But as Bruno pulled and heaved the donkey didn't even budge from its place. He got behind it, trying to maybe push it to the stable, but nothing. Not even the slightest inch. The donkey had rooted itself, and had no intention of moving.
"Aurgh!" He kicked a bucket and held his face in annoyance. Of course, it seemed that there always had to be some kind of a problem.
Maybe he could bribe it?-
Bruno furrowed his brow in thought, trying to remember where the food was kept. Aha!, he smiled as he remembered they kept it in the first pen, the smile fading as he also remembered that was where he had put Pescado in.
He gulped, trying to weigh what he valued more, going to the party?- or his life?-
Bruno took a deep breath, knocking on the wooden pillar 6 times. He frowned as he thought about his mother, her and the townspeople's disappointment and anger with him when they'd find out he just let one donkey go. It seemed all he was good for was disappointment nowadays.
He sighed, walking over a little to the stable containing the potentially murderous alpaca in it. The food wasn't so far away. Yet Bruno knew he couldn't do it, he wasn't brave enough to even dare to. But Hernando was.
With a swift motion, Bruno put his hood up, 'becoming' Hernando. He walked towards the stable with a confident gait. It was almost as if he could hear western music, at a stand off with his arch nemesis, Pescado.
‘Hernando’ took a deep breath before sprinting quicker than he had in his life and grabbing the carrot from a bucket, narrowly avoiding yet another ball of spit hurtling his way.
"HA!" He yelled triumphantly, hood falling down as he jumped up, adrenaline still coursing through his veins. By now the knot had loosened even more, but was still enough to contain the ferocious creature. Bruno knew for sure he wasn't going to go back and redo the knot anyway.
The carrot seemed to do the trick, the donkey following him back into the stable where he promptly tied the rope into a knot. There! Now after avoiding near death he was faced with an even bigger, much scarier challenge- the party.
After picking out some of the hay in his hair and straightening his ruana, he ran back to the casita, knowing that at any time now his mamá would be making her announcement, and oh boy, she wouldn't like it if he was late.
Bruno went through the side of the house, avoiding the people out in the courtyard as he stopped to catch his breath, honestly worn out from trying to arrange the animals into their stables.
"There you are!"
Bruno turned around to see Julieta running over to him. "We've been looking for you for ages! Have you any idea how worried mamá is?!"
Bruno gulped, imagining his mamá’s angry face. "L-lo siento, just had a little run in with the donkeys.." He chuckled wearily, Julieta just rolling her eyes, regretting giving him the task in the first place.
"Come, mamá's about to start!" she said, and he couldn't help but quietly gulp again, nodding and following her up the stairs.
As he walked out to stand by his mother, Pepa already waiting there, he looked down at the people below. There were hundreds at least, all of them staring at his sister, and him. 'You're alright, this is fine-' Bruno tried to calm himself down, now uncomfortably sweating.
On top of that, he could feel his mama's disapproving gaze when she saw he was still wearing his ruana, despite of what she had said.
Not wanting to mention it aloud in public though, Alma didn't comment, instead turning to the crowd of people below, her disapproving expression turning into one of warmth and friendliness in an uncannily short amount of time.
"Everyone!" She began, the crowd of people quieting down. "I am so glad that so many of you made it here on this very special day". Her gaze visibly saddened, as she took a deep breath. "23 years ago, we all had to run away from our homes, looking for a safe place to take refuge in. As you all know, my husband Pedro… gave his life to protect us, giving us this miracle, the Encanto" she smiled sadly, clearly deep in thought.
Bruno couldn't help but look at his mamá with a frown at the mention of his papá, Pedro. He had no recollection of the events, him and his hermanas too young to remember, but everyone knew what had happened. How his papá gave his life for them. He was a hero.
Bruno looked down, unable to think to himself what his papá would think of him. He wanted to imagine that he'd be proud, but it seemed he could only disappoint.
Bruno subconsciously clenched his fists. Why couldn't he be better?
"With the Encanto and the Casita came another miracle, my children's gifts". Bruno looked down again, unable to look at the townspeople, knowing how many he had managed to anger.
"Because of the miracle, me and my children all swear to serve this community, to show how thankful we all are for our amazing gifts.."
Thankful? Bruno couldn't help but think to himself, by each sentence he managed to feel worse and worse. He couldn't help but feel guilt creep up on him, his papá had died for this, and he wasn't even grateful for his gift?
"And as every year passes we grow to help this community more and more, as our gifts grow with us, to help the people of Encanto" Alma smiled, the people below cheering and clapping.
"Now, let the celebrations begin!" She finished her announcement, immediately the music began to play as the casitas tiles moved enthusiastically. Everyone cheered, everyone but Bruno.
The celebrations were supposed to be the fun part, and yet it never felt that way anymore. Slowly Bruno slid through the crowd, keeping his head low as to avoid eye contact.
Everyone was conversing with one another, leaving him awkwardly standing there as he couldn't integrate to any conversation.
"Hey!" He saw someone smile and wave in his direction. Bruno wondered if he knew them, about to greet them when they walked past him, having been addressing the person behind him.
He frowned, deciding the best way to spend his time would be if he sat at good tables, and ate Julie's food. A grin grew on his face as he once again saw the cakes, taking some on his plate and sitting down in one of the few empty spaces.
Bruno ate the food, at least able to enjoy his hermana’s cooking as he hummed to himself. All seemed to be going well, until he looked down, seeing the rats he bought peeking their heads out, smelling the opportunity in front of them.
Two squeaked at each other, already fighting over the crumbs on his lap. "Shh! No, get back!" He whispered hastily, not noticing the few odd looks he got from the unknowing townspeople, now internally questioning why he was talking to and covering his lap.
As he focused on stopping the two from making too much noise, unbeknownst to him, one was already on the table.
Once he looked up he gasped, immediately snatching the rat back into his ruana before it could be seen. Seeing the weird looks people gave him he chuckled uneasily, deciding with the rats it would be best if he kept away from the food.
"This is absolutely ridiculous" he quietly reprimanded his rats as he walked through the crowd, eventually making it to one of the casita’s walls which he leaned on, pretty disinterested but glad that no one was paying attention to him
Before he knew it, it was now Bruno's least favourite part of the entire celebration. He had always thought of this part as a sort of "showcase" of their gifts. Julieta handed out food to people, Pepa made a rainbow, and he…just sort of stood there, away from them as if he wasn't even invited to the party.
"Woo!" He heard the cheer of people, Felìx as always ever so supportive of Pepa, and a now injured Agustin back with Julieta, who just rolled her eyes before stuffing an arepa into his mouth.
Bruno frowned and sighed. He thought about the fact that he was basically being ignored at what was partly his own birthday party, he supposed it was better that way, the painful memory of what had happened when he was 15 flashing in his mind.
He was doing visions for people, sat out on the floor with his equipment and a bucket of sand. When he had been younger this had been seen as the 'main event', and Bruno could see why.
The dramatic twirl of the sand, the bright glow of his eyes, and before you knew it, an emerald tablet in his hands. It was the quite the spectacle.
It seemed as time passed on though the visions only seemed to get worse, and who was to blame in their minds but him?
15 year old Bruno sat down, doing a vision for another person in the formed line. The glow of his eyes, the small dome of sand, and it was done. He didn't even have time to process what was on the vision tablet when he felt a fist hit nose, hard.
Gasps, followed by the angry man being pulled away, angrily yelling obscenities at the now bloody teenager. He sat on the floor, eyes wide in shock as he looked down at his bloody hands that had been instinctively over his broken nose. "Bruno are you okay?!" Said Julieta's voice, he didn't answer.
"Bruno!'
"Ah!" He yelped and jumped up a little, seeing Julie in front of him. He realised he had been so deep in thought that he didn't see her walk over to him, now looking at him with concern as he didn't answer her question.
"Oh!, oh yes!-hehe sorry…yea, I'm fine" Bruno chuckled weakly in an attempt to reassure her, yet her eyes were still filled with concern. Before she could say anything though, a loud crash was heard through the casita.
Everyone went silent, looking up at where the noise had come from.
They heard an ever so long scream, growing louder as a terrified and incredibly disheveled man ran into the courtyard.
"PESCADO- PESCADO HAS ESCAPED!".
Most people looked at eachother, incredibly confused. "Fish?" A few people muttered, others shrugging it off.
Bruno held his breath. Had the knot finally slipped loose?
In that moment though, the aforementioned Pescado had arrived, in the same place the screaming man was seconds ago, and with a murderous intent, charged towards the crowd.
Chaos erupted as people screamed, trying to get as far away from the four legged towering creature of rage as it rampaged around the courtyard.
Bruno was among the people, more than eager to escape, fearing what Pescado would do when he recognised him.
In a matter of seconds, a crowd had formed of people trying to squeeze through the doors of the Casita, and Bruno was stuck near the end of it. Pepa's weather didn't entirely calm anyone's nerves, a rain cloud surrounding her and drenching the guests as she quietly apologised, brushing her hair with her hands in an attempt to calm down.
He turned back to see how close Pescado was, seeing him fling over an unlucky bystander. That's when he noticed something. Strangely, it wasn't everyone who got to feel Pescados wrath, and as he looked over at the people the enraged alpaca targeted, he realised something. They were all wearing green.
"Huh.." Bruno said at the realisation, yelping as he got pushed forward by the people desperately trying to escape. He didn't really know why, perhaps in an attempt to fix his wrong, but with unnatural courageousness he ran back to the courtyard, calling everybody's attention.
"Hey! Everybody!" He yelled at the top of his voice, the people glancing back at him, clearly questioning his sanity. "Bruno get away from here!" Julieta yelled at him, he however ignored her.
"It's alright you can come back, it's green- he hates the colour green!" He gestured to the group of injured people by Julieta, all indeed wearing some form of green.
His voice had called the alpacas attention, as it turned to him, eyes like fiery coals. Bruno gulped, figuring there was a way to test out his feeling, but moreover knowing that running was futile.
He took off his ruana, the rats scurrying away from him. Bruno kissed his ruana, muttering a quiet "sorry" to his beloved garment.
Like a bull, the alpaca charged at him. He threw his ruana as far as he could, still closing his eyes in fear of impact, it however, didn't come. He opened his eyes, seeing Pescado had followed the green item of clothing, now angrily stomping at it.
He chuckled in disbelief, for once amazed at his luck. "Hehe… see! We can put him back in the stables now- just probably don't come out if you're wearing green..".
The people look at eachother, all nodding in agreement. In that moment, a little girl who had been hiding behind a wrecked table jumped out, crying out "mamá!" As she began to run back to the crowd.
The problem was, she was wearing a green dress. The crowd immediately gasped, her mamá’s far cry of horror as she realised what was happening. Pescado turned, charging at the little girl who just stood there, paralysed in fear.
Without thinking twice, Bruno threw himself in her direction, putting his arms around her, covering her with his body. He closed his eyes, expecting to feel the hard hooves of the alpaca, but he didn't.
"Huh?" Bruno dared to open his eyes. He couldn't believe it. Pescado was just…there. Standing there with a disinterested expression, like a completely normal alpaca. He figured with the child out of view, the alpaca simply just gave up.
Within seconds a group of men (not wearing green) threw new rope around the alpaca, swiftly taking it away from the courtyard.
It was over.
Bruno let out a short sigh of disbelief, uncovering the girl. He turned, hearing the mother running over to her child, grabbing her and holding her, crying from the overwhelming emotions.
Bruno stood up, not really minding that the she didn't seem to acknowledge his presence.
As people gradually started to refill the courtyard, Bruno went over to his now, very, wrecked ruana, putting it on purely out of need for comfort.
"How did the alpaca manage to get out in the first place?!" Asked a voice.
"Yea!-aren't the animals supposed to be tied up?" Said another.
Bruno gulped, quietly and subtly tried to get through the crowd of people, something that was taking very long due to the size of it.
A few questions later his heart sunk as he heard. "Who dealt with the animals anyway?"
A moment later and he froze as he heard the answer.
"I left him and the others with Bruno!" Said Pescados owner, the crowd now talking amongst themselves. "Us too!"-
"He said he'd deal with it all fine and look what happened!"
-"Uh, what did you expect- since when does anything good happen when it's Bruno?"-
They slowly ganged up as the people around Bruno stepped away, leaving him in singled out of the crowd.
He laughed, very nervously, feeling as if his heart would explode. He would honestly pick Pescado anytime over this.
"Hehe…everyone, it was an accident" Bruno said, instinctively shrinking away from the eyes on him.
"Oh, just an accident, like that time you saw my business would close down?" A voice sneered, followed by murmurs of agreement.
"Or perhaps that time a cat ate all my chickens!".
By this point Bruno was terrified, his whole body trembling as his eyes looked like those of a prey about to get caught.
"Why are you laughing?, do you think this is funny matón?".
"Yea! A little girl could have died because of you!".
Bruno’s quiet response, more of a murmur really, that he "laughed when nervous" was unheard, the crowd of people turning into a mob as they expressed their anger.
"You can't just blame him for everything! He didn't mean for this to happen, it isn't his fault!" Julieta spoke up in defense of him, feeling guilty for the whole situation as it was her who told him to help with the animals in the first place. "Right mamá?" She turned to her for support. If the crowd would listen to anyone, that someone was Alma.
Alma opened her mouth to say something but didn't say anything, she looked at him conflicted before frowning and looking away.
Bruno had enough. Of this party, of the people treating him like a curse, and most of all his mamá’s disappointment in him.
Wiping his tears with his tattered sleeve he ran off, the people parting for him, watching as he disappeared from view. No one went after him.
After going up the stairs, Bruno slammed the door to his bedroom. He slowly slid down until he was sitting, bringing up his knees to his face as he sobbed. Why did he even try to make things different?! Of course it was going to end this way, it always did.
The three rats he fed before came to his side, bruxing with concern as they could tell something was very wrong. One jumped up onto his knee, burying its face through his locks of hair before tilting his head at him worriedly.
"Hola Bonita" Bruno quietly croaked, petting the rat as it licked the tears off his cheek. He chuckled, unable to not smile a little. "I'm afraid not even you can make this day any good".
As if on cue he heard a loud smack against the window, jumping and ever so slightly fearing for his life again when he squinted his eyes, seeing a face and the oh so familiar red hair. Sandra!
Wait.
"SANDRA?!" His eyes widened as he ran over to the window, immediately opening it for her. What in the world was she doing outside his window?!
"Ah, thank you" she said breathlessly as she went inside, making sure to throw in the box she had been holding, adrenaline still coursing through her veins.
"What- what are you doing here?..." he asked in genuine puzzlement, still looking at her with wide eyes as he recovered from the shock. Even if it weren't for her entrance he was still shocked to see her, how did she manage to leave the shop? And hadn't he told her not to come?
"Oh!, erm, too many people outside hehe- and inside, so I took a shortcut-" she chuckled, thinking he was just referencing the window. Before she even got to finish her sentence however, Bruno had wrapped his arms around her in a tight, affectionate hug.
She looked a little surprised at first, before hugging him back.
"I'm so, so glad you're here" Bruno weakly chuckled, but meant it more than anything. Despite his words and effort to convince her to stay away, he wanted nothing more than for her to be here with him.
"Of course, mi amor" she smiled, speaking ever so softly. Sandra pulled away, not fully, just enough to see his face. Her smile turned visibly sad as she gently wiped a tear under his eye. "I'm so, so sorry". She was beyond heartbroken to see him like this, cheeks stained with tears, beloved ruana tattered almost beyond recognition.
Bruno sniffled, smiling back sadly. "Wait" he began, puzzled. "How did you know?...". Not only did she seem not surprised to find him in such a miserable state, but also knew exactly where to go- or in this case, climb.
"I saw everything…" She weakly chuckled. "I was going to come later anyway, it took me like, a full hour to get close enough to see the courtyard, and then suddenly everyone was trying to leave!, b-but…I managed to stay close enough to see the alpaca, and you, and what happened after…"
Bruno looked down and frowned. "Nothing can just seem to go right, can it?" He let out air through his nose almost as a sort of snort.
She looked at him, with concern. "Well I mean…I did manage to scale the Casita without falling to my death so…that's a plus?" She chuckled, trying to find her eyes and at least get a smirk out of him.
That didn't happen though, as he eyes remained on the floor, clearly in thought. "Do you think…my papá…would be disappointed with me?" He asked quietly, looking up at her with sad defeated eyes.
"What?!" Sandra's eyes widened a little, shocked by the question. "A-a-are you kidding me? Of course not! First you went out and bull-fought that alpaca, and then, then you jumped to save that little girl!, risking your own life!"
She held his hands, bringing them up as she looked into eyes. "Your papá would be so proud of you, no, he is so proud of you!, an-and I don't care what your mamá says!, you risked your life to save that small child, is that not giving back to the community?”
He looked up at her, taken aback and at a loss for words.
"Listen to me, they are the problem. They ask for more and never stop to appreciate what you already give! You are a hero, Bruno".
Bruno’s eyes widened even more, a small blush forming on his cheeks. "Hehe, I wouldn't say that.." He chuckled quietly, scratching the back of his head.
"But you are! You're like the great heroes you write in your telenovelas, I mean- that alpaca was terrifying…" she chuckled weakly.
"Yea… Pescado definitely is something else, I'll give you that" Bruno weakly chuckled, looking back at Sandra whose lips curled upwards as she tried not to laugh.
He sighed and she burst out in laughter, not able to hold back. "I-I'm sorry…but, Pescado?" She looked up at him.
"Look I don't know, that's what the guy said-" now that Bruno thought of it it was a very amusing name for an alpaca, unable to not laugh himself.
"That's like something out of a telenovela!" She wiped the tears of laughter under eyes.
"Pfft- I ought to write a story about it now" Bruno chuckled at the realisation.
"Please do, I'd like to watch it very much- ooh!, which reminds me-" Sandra perked up, looking over at the box on the floor.
She took it, sitting down on the bed and gesturing for Bruno to sit down with her, which he did. "Oh Sandy, you didn't have to.." Already he couldn't help but smile as he awaited her present with excitement.
"Shh! I didn't even open it yet!" She chuckled, jokingly pressing her finger against his lips. "Alright, close your eyes".
Bruno did as she said, unable to not giggle like a small child from the excitement.
"Alright, you can open them".
Bruno’s eyes dilated like a cat. His mouth was wide open, yet he was lost for words.
"MY RUANA?!" He asked in disbelief. In front of him Sandra held a perfect replica of it, just new and untouched- unlike the one he had on. She handed it to him and he buried his face in the material. "Oh my god" he muttered. It was so soft.
After a few moments of just holding it to his face he discarded his old destroyed ruana on the floor, putting the new one on. Making rainbows was part of his sister's gift, but in that moment he looked like he exuded them.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you-" He hugged her again, speaking rapidly from excitement but genuinely grateful.
He pulled away, looking down at it. "I just- woo" his arms automatically waved a little from happiness, making Sandra chuckle.
His rats instantly climbed onto the bed, eagerly going in the strangely familiar but also new garment of clothing.
For the first time today, Bruno was beyond overjoyed. His hands felt the softness of the fabric as he basked in its glory. "S-so what do you think Sandy?, do I look good?" He asked excitedly.
"You always look good, Bruno" Sandra softly chuckled, earnest in her words as his cheeks heated up.
"Hehe, thank you, you too" he quietly mumbled, shyly leaning forward to leave a small but loving kiss on her lips.
One of his rats popped its head out of his new ruana, and Sandra who had been caught up in the moment as well, remembered that there was more in the box.
"That's not all! I doubt it'll make you as insanely happy as this, but still.." she chuckled, handing him over the box.
He looked inside curiously, eyes lighting up once more as he saw the contents. "Sets and prompts for my telenovelas! Thank you" he smiled, taking them out.
The backdrops were painted in painstaking detail, many from recent books he had read and particularly enjoyed. As for the props, small household items were reused and remade to look real, pencil shavings made to look like fancy headpiece and more.
Bruno noticed one more item on the bottom, gasping a little as he took out a well crafted leather bound notebook.
"You mentioned your other ones getting full, so I thought why not?-" Sandra chuckled, once again unable to finish her sentence as Bruno hugged her, her hugging him back.
"Thank you" he smiled gratefully.
"O-of course" Sandra smiled back, happy that he was happy, especially after the days unfortunate events.
Her fingers stroked through his hair and she chuckled quietly from amusement. "Mi amor, you have hay in your hair" Sandra carefully took them out.
"Ah yes, fell into a lot of hay when I dealt with Pescado.." Bruno chuckled, content in just sitting there on his bed. After the unpredictable day he was happy to have some normal piece with the woman he loved.
Well, almost everyday peace.
"Sandy?"
"Hmm?"
"Please just use the stairs the next time-"
"...Alright".

Hi!! I’m joining in the flower event. It looks super neat! Also I hope you’re doing well ^.^
Hmmm so my personality is INTP-A, close people would call me eccentric, attentive, and witty. (I think I’m boring but it’s all subjective lol) I tend to be pretty laidback and it takes a lot to anger or truly upset me, if something does it’s usually a build-up of numerous things. I’m usually the ‘therapist friend’ to close ones, unintentionally, because I’m good at reading people and listening. I don’t mind, but I got better with establishing boundaries for myself as I got older and being less meek. With that said, I’m also very protective of people important to me. I won’t be afraid to speak my mind if I feel it’s necessary. I’m pretty introverted and enjoy having copious amounts of time alone, as well as naps 😌 anything related to the sea or the thought of sitting on a hill overlooking the ocean calms me down when I’m feeling anxious or upset. Works every time ❤️
My interests are video games, psychology (especially of music and fiction!), music, writing ofc, reading tarot cards (been told I was psychic so that’s something I guess?), supernatural/esoteric stuff, science, and fantasy… to name a few.
Not sure how helpful all this will be but anyway, I hope it’s useful! Wishing you a great day or night ✨🫶
Hello Hydra! It's nice to see you here! I'm doing pretty well thank you! The more information I have the better, so this works really well! Thank you!
Ryker's flower garden event
I would give you...
A poppy!
Poppies mean sleep and imagination! This fits you perfectly since you like your naps and your writing of course! That requires great amounts of imagination! I've also seen your writing and it's very good! The poppy is connected to the Greek god of sleep and dreams, Morpheus! It's also famous for it's connection to a poem titled "To Sleep" by John Keats where he references poppies as a way to escape the things on his mind.
Tumblr media
A white zinnia!
This is one of the flowers that's meaning changes depending on the color. A white zinnia means goodness. I chose this for you because well, everything about your personality screams that you're a good person! Being the therapist friend, taking quite a bit to anger, being a good listener, and being protective of those you care about are all qualities of a good person! The zinnia is a beautiful flower that can actually be found in paintings by famous artists like Van Gogh!
Tumblr media
A fern!
While it's not a flower, regular plants also carry meanings! A fern means fascination and magic. I chose this for you because of your hobbies! Tarot readings, supernatural things, and fantasy are all very fascinating topics that are also often associated with magic! While it's rare for a fern to flower, some superstitions believe that the flower can guide you to the location of hidden treasure!
Tumblr media
Thank you for sending an ask in for the event! It's nice to see writers I know in my inbox and I feel so honored!

OC Interview
Saw this on someone's blog at the end of November and thought it looked pretty fun. I've made three but will be posting them separately because they are long! Tagging the standard peeps because i don't want to blast people's inboxes otherwise. But please tag me if you want to make one. It's a really neat exercise! ^_^

An interview with the Inquisitor by an eager Orlesian socialite during the events of Trespasser
Name?
"Erimenthan Lavellan."
Are you single?
He nodded, "I am very much taken at the moment by vhenan."
Are you happy?
"As much as one can be while other people try to dismantle everything I've built in the name of peace."
Are you angry?
He frowns for a moment then says, "I find anger to be a very unproductive emotion."
Are your parents still married?
"Yes."
Birth place?
"I'm not entirely sure. Most likely somewhere in the Free Marches. Dalish Clans are less interested in place of birth. More the clan and time of year."
"What time of year were you born?"
"Winter. Just before our New Year celebration."
Hair color?
"Red."
Eye color?
"Green."
Birthday?
"Again, I'm not sure of the date in the Andrastian Calendar. But sometime in Haring, I believe during 9:9 Dragon. Our New Year is a bit later so it may be Wintermarch, 9:10 Dragon. Although I would have to consult with the Keeper and the Andrastian annals to be sure. Would you be willing to wait a few weeks for an answer?"
"No. Nevermind."
"Ah, it would have probably taken longer anyway."
Mood?
"Affable."
Gender?
"Why are shems always so focused on what gender people are? I'm male."
Summer or winter?
"Spring or Fall would be a more interesting question. Winter I suppose. It's the gentle repose before new beginnings. The world in chrysalis. And there's my birth celebration of course."
Morning or afternoon?
"Morning. The sweetest birdsong can be heard in the quiet morning."
=EIGHT THINGS ABOUT YOUR  LIFE=
Are you in love?
"I believe I am."
Do you believe in love at first sight?
"I've seen it in action at least once."
"With yourself?"
Erim shook his head lightly. "Oh no. I'm far too cautious for that. My closest friend in my clan was swept away by a man on first glance at him. It was a sight to behold."
Who ended your last relationship?
"I did. It was time for a change."
Have you ever broken someone’s heart?
"I haven't had the opportunity to ask. My past lovers are all beyond my grasp at the moment. I hope not."
Are you afraid of commitments?
"No."
Have you hugged someone within the last week?
"Yes, vhenan…and many of my friends who have returned to support me in the proceedings."
Have you ever had a secret admirer?
"Yes. It was rather unexpected. Although, I guess they always are."
Have you ever broken your own heart?
"Yes. It's easy enough when the you hold the balance of the world in your hand. I have had a lot of opportunities as Inquisitor. And I have made many missteps. I take none of them lightly. Despite what the council which convenes here wants you to think."
=SIX CHOICES=
Love or lust?
"Love."
Lemonade or iced tea?
"Hot tea."
Cats or dogs?
"Cats" A few best friends or many regular friends?
"However many, I am happy to have the friends I do."
Wild night out or romantic night in?
"Is there not an in between? Like a romantic picnic. Or a boisterous luncheon?"
Day or night?
"Daytime. Many things are clearer in the sun's light. The night is burdened by temptation and self-doubt."
=FOUR HAVE YOU EVERS=
Been caught sneaking out?
"Oh many times. But our Keeper was quite sharp. As is Spymaster Leliana."
Fallen down/up the stairs?
"No. But I have stubbed a toe or two on the stairs."
Wanted something/someone so badly it hurt?
"Yes. I was apart from vhenan for a time. And that was…not a pleasant experience. I'm glad he has returned."
Wanted to disappear?
"What an interesting question for the leader of the Inquisition. Let me answer it this way. I have never angled for center stage, but I won't be giving up the catbird seat without a fight. What we have done is too important. What we can do too grand. The council must see that."
=FOUR PREFERENCES=
Smile or eyes?
"Eyes tell you much more than a smile ever will."
Shorter or taller?
"People are what they are. But taller if you must know."
Intelligence or attraction?
He considered for some time an answer then spoke evenly, "Counterbalances of each other. Too much of one diminishes the other. You cannot have the moon without the sun. A man who relies only on his intelligence will surely push those of lesser mind away. And if one relies too much on character, they are doomed to lose their way."
The interviewer paused with eyebrows knit together, "I don't think you grasped the question."
Erim smirked, "I don't think you grasped the answer. Next question."
Hook-up or relationship?
"Relationships."
=FAMILY=
Do you and your family get along?
"I got along with many in Clan Lavellan. I miss them dearly."
Would you say you have a “messed up life”?
"It's different than I expected, that's for sure. But I would not ask for a different one. Maybe…a different choice or two. But never a different one."
Have you ever run away from home?
"In a very real sense my mission to the Conclave in the name of my clan was an act of running away. A sanctioned act, but no less running away. I didn't see it that way at first. But I was avoiding complicated conversations that I now regret not having with those I held dearest to me."
Have you ever gotten kicked out?
"I'm Dalish. What do you think? I was almost kicked out of Halamshiral before Ambassador Montilyet informed the guards of my station. Not the first time nor I imagine will it be the last, unfortunately. Let's hope I am not kicked out of the Inquisition."
=FRIENDS=
Do you secretly hate one of your friends?
"Absolutely not."
Do you consider all of your friends good friends?
"What kind of question is that? They're my friends, aren't they?"
Who is your best friend?
"Vhenan, of course. Then Seeker Pentagahst and Ambassador Pavus."
Who knows everything about you?
"I'm an open book to most. But vhenan probably knows the most after the members of my clan."

hello!! :-D ✨ your partner linked me over here to look at your universe and ocs and tbh I'm REALLY interested!! what art you've posted of some of them is cool, I'm honestly not sure where to start with a question though so I'm sorry if this ends up being long winded...
Weather Warning has some guys called Calamitys, are they made out of weather? I don't have a great way to phrase that SGDHD but I'm genuinely curious, they're like living natural disasters? the two I've seen that you post about a lot are Ashi and Eli, and like I said I don't have a lot of like concrete questions but, if youre willing to talk about them or the story or anything, I'd be happy to hear! :D I'm kinda curious about Val too but I know they're not a part of that, I just wanted to bring em up bc Cadence in general I think is neat !
btw if this is like probing too much or anything please do say!! Im really interested but I understand how it could be weird for a rando anon to pop in and ask a lot FWEFSD
OH HELLO!!! This is so sweet omg thank you for being interested!! That means so much! Also please anon don't worr, this is probing ot anything at all it's really cool tbh!!! So the story I have been working on for a while now is called Weather Warning! It's set in a world where the fabric between multiple realities has become damaged, frayed, and is extremely delicate. Because of this when extreme weather events occur on a scale not even fathomable to what Earth experiences, the fabric rips allowing energy from an underlying reality to pour in. These two converging energies are what creates Calamities. They are beings of nature and chaos, born from another reality. Ashi is my favorite oc and has been around for a few years now, he is the main character of Weather Warning and the story mostly follows him and his group of friends. Eli was never supposed to be important he was supposed to be a throw away character but then I got attached and he is one of my favorite OCs and also one of the most threatening antags within the story.
Val!! Oh my sweet Valentine. I love them so much. As you already know they are part of my bf's universe Cadence (Hiiiiii Aidennnn). They differ alot depending on the branch of Cadence but for the main branch they are very sweet and help Hunter learn how to express himself and learn emotions and how to enjoy things around him. They love Hunter and have a group of friends that they care about very much. Val doesn't really have a mean bone in their body and are usually very shy, even being mildly afraid of blood funny enough. Their favorite hobby is actually street art and they will often run around town, spray painting anything they can get their hands on.
I hope this helps!! I am always open to answer anymore questions u might have or elaborate more on things if you would like but I tried to keep it short and sweet lmao. Oh! and thank you again so much for the interest!!!!

Right, so, need to stop doomscrolling, gonna ramble into the void about a LU au and hope to put some good vibes out there.
It's nothing revelatory or sensational, probably been done before, but I'm thinking of like. How the Chain might be different with an inverted timeline. Make Wild the Link that started the cycle, and Sky the most recent. Maybe change up some details of each adventure to suit the new inversion of events (most notably, in Time's case I need to do some rearranging. He's not party to a split, here, he's putting things back together).
I'm still relatively new to the fandom and still getting my feet wet, plus there's a lot of games I'm not terribly familiar with, so I'm just going to jot down some thoughts and see where this goes? Is that how we do things here? This is messy and rambly, I've only been mulling it over for a few hours.
Wild - he's up first in this au. I might do some funky stuff with the differences between AoC Wild and BotW Wild, they're two different people but also not. Maybe AoC is haunting/guiding BotW? Either way, inheritors of a lost history and broken land, the Goddesses seemingly having abandoned Hyrule if they ever existed at all. Calamity knows more than Breath does but they're building a legend from nothing, here. Definitely need to change some details regarding legacy.
Warriors - this seems like the best place to put the game in which Cia messes around with time. 10,000 years after Hyrule was built from nothing, a new hero has emerged. Here is where I need to figure out what I'm doing with Ganon(dorf). I got no clue. But now Warriors gets to be the second coming of the hero, after a super long time without. Ngl this is probably a messy one, but Warriors gets glimpses of and friends from the future in all cases here, which is going to throw things off. This is liable to get angsty?
Downfall timeline!
Hyrule - a stranger from the outskirts of nowhere suddenly being hunted for ??? reasons through a deteriorating Hyrule, destiny intersecting with happenstance. Still saves two princesses but his two adventures sort of blend into one, here.
Legend - I have no idea what order his adventures happen in but. Hyrule, lorule, labrynna, holodrum, koholint, and hytopia, my goodness he gets around. Wanderlust. Very possibly actually originated from a dream, now that's weird.
Adult timeline!
I cannot promise I won't put Spirit Tracks in here. But first I would have to learn anything about it other than that there are trains? Is Spirit Tracks part of Wind's adventures already?
Wind - I do know he starts as a pirate this time around. And then discovers a land under the sea. It'd be neat if the three timelines affect one another? But this is the first instance where Warriors's adventure intersects with a chunk of tge future. So I feel like this could change up significantly....
Child timeline!
Twilight - I think the timeline split in this au is less that three paths diverged, and more....one timeline, one world, divided into three, so none are totally complete.i'll be honest I'm not sure how much changes here other than the impact of TP also getting involved with HW, but much more involved than Wind's friends were. Maybe Twilight gets the girl this time? Oh, and the Hero's Shade has to be someone else...hm. But also, Hyrule gets very......spooky and weird and different.
Time - which is why Majora's Mask happens first, I think Termina might just be an altered hyrule. Time probably gets to be very different from the normal LU version, since here he gets to be the one putting the timeline back together. He's the one I have the clearest changes envisioned for and I'm not sure how I feel about that? Directly impacted by HW, too.
Four - I'll be honest, I have no idea what to do with him. I have basically no familiarity with any of his games.
Sky - the most recent Link, and I'm not sure if Hylians fled to the sky or if he'll be a newcomer? Might need details on what's happening in botw2 before i fully figure this out. Also directly impacted by the events of HW, possibly the most dramatically. Not sure what to do with Demise, here, but Sky does kind of get to be team baby.
This is mostly rambling and I have no idea if it'll turn into anything. I might add the Link from Cadence of Hyrule, or an OC Link, or something? I don't know. I just had to think about something fun and also get ideas out of my brain. Yells a lot tbh.

Morning! Your Secret Santa here!
It's a relief really knowing we only have two more to suffer through. My heart gets a little constricted everytime I think about Jongin and Sehun being sent off. It'll be good when they return and we'll hopefully get group contents once again. I'm hoping for an actual world tour, though it's been nice that some of them have been making appearances at festivals and such…it's just not the same as all of them together.
As for places I'd love to visit…everywhere. The world is so big and I have seen so very little of it. But, if I had to choose a handful, Korea would definitely be on the list as would India and Italy. Peru for certain. Hungary, possibly? It's honestly a toss up between Hungary and Morocco. Most of these are based on their cuisines by the way.  What about you? You mentioned you loved traveling too? Any traveling anecdotes to share? Or places you'd live to visit?
Well, just because you don't cook for yourself often doesn't mean you can't enjoy food….any particular favorites? I tend to just make whatever catches my eye and my stomach. Like, for instance, this week I made a large batch of corned beef and colcannon. Once those leftovers are eaten, I plan on making jajangmyeon with some squid I have in the freezer. Or maybe I'll make a curry…. Huh. Well.  Now I have a dilemma. I'll figure it out. Anyway. Baking! That's so neat! I don't bake often because I dislike the measuring aspect of it. I much prefer methods and recipes where I can cook by sight and smell. Are there any baked goods you prefer?
I'm of the same opinion on choosing favorites….it really does come down to cases….like context and detail are everything really. And sometimes it's just hard to articulate why something resonates. I've not read any of the books you've mentioned so I'll have to look into them eventually. I'm not a big shipping fic type person when it comes to Real Person Fic….reader insert is preferable to me because it feels more like sharing a daydream with a friend. If that makes sense. I have no problem with those that do read it of course, we all have our own preferences. I've read some of marshmallow-phd's works, she's very talented! As for guardians-of-exo I'm not sure if I have read anything of thiers, but to be fair I've been mostly reading Harry Potter fic recently.
Donnie Darko! I have only watched it once but that movie stuck with me as one I recommend to people often. The sequel was good but…I was somewhat disappointed with it though I never quite been able to put my finger on why. The others I'll add to my list of things to look into, though the Lotr and Starwars and HP I don't need to lol.
Gilmore girls is an awesome show! Though I still need to finish it. I think I stopped watching right around the time when Luke and Lorelai first got together. Kinda like…hey this is where the happy ending starts…I don't need to watch the writers potentially ruin it. I'm assuming Bad Prosecutor is good? I mean it has Kyungsoo in it so I doubt it's bad. I'm waiting til it's finished before I binge it. ….honestly my list of "I need to watch this" is horrifically long lol.
And thank-you! Its something I've never understood, even though I'm guilty of it myself at times…if you're asked for what you'd like in terms of a gift …why not offer a few choices? Like you mentioned, saying: "anything really!" is not helpful. Especially when it comes to events like this. Irl I've taken to telling my family if you don't give me at least a short list to pick from I'm not getting you anything. We're all adults at this point and we don't see each other often. How am I expected to know what you'd enjoy? And before I get into a tirade about social niceties not making sense we shall change the subject lol.
So. When reading fic, do you have any aus that you gravitate to? Any tropes you get irrationally excited over? Do you like art? Do you have a favourite photoshoot for Chanyeol? Favourite exo stage? If you had to pick an environment to live in for the rest of your life what would you choose..dobyoubhave areas on areas on the choice? (City, country, suburbs, desert  rainforest, forest. Etc.) You said you like space, yes? Do you have a favorite constellation? Nebula? Planet? What about space makes you go: Yes. THIS.?
Hope your week goes well!
Hello, dear secret santa! ✨️
I am already excited to answer your questions at the end!! But let’s start from the top xD
I don’t like to think about Sehun and Jongin going either :c Aren’t they like… babies? Is that even legal? Joking aside tho, I was so thrilled to have at least 5 of them playing silly little games in the Acorn Market videos – I really can’t wait for having them all together in a room again and mayyybeee even having a group comeback early next year, when Baekhyun’s back and Sehun and Jongin haven’t left yet… but yeah, I’m delusional like that xD a true clown, ready to face disappointment if it doesn’t end up to happen like that xD
I totally get your travelling mentality – there are so so many places to see! I love your little selection here ^^ I have been to Hungary and Italy before and of course also got tastes of the local cuisines and even if I’m not really a fan of Hungarian food, it’s always different to taste it in the actual country so I enjoyed it a lot still. I really hope you can visit all these places and try all the local dishes you want :DD My own travelling bucket list also has Korea way on top, and Japan and Taiwan, and a couple of European countries I haven’t been to yet, for example some places in Spain, Portugal or Iceland. Morocco is also one of the places I’d really like to see too. And then of course there are countries I’ve already been to but want to see again. I’m really interested in languages, cultures and history so that is where the interest for all these places comes from for me.
Haha, please feel free to share what dish you settled for ^^ Because you mentioned it: Jjajangmyeon is actually one of my favourite Korean dishes. I tried in a Korean restaurant and loved it ever since. But other than that, I’m really your average pizza-pasta-burger kind of person xD But I think it’s so cool to be able to cook so many different dishes and to be open to try out whatever interests you. You can experience a part of another country right there in your kitchen like that – I really like that concept ^^ For baking, I really like the good ol’ cakes because they are so easy to share and  can be very versatile too!
Your explanation makes perfect sense! As you said, everybody has their own preferences, and I can totally get behind your reasoning here. I used to like reading (and sometimes even writing) both, but these days I don’t really get to read new fics (I have too many other books to read xDD) and always come back to my one, all-time-favourite when I need a comfort read, hehe. From guardians-of-exo I can recommend her Songfic series with the EXO members, if you want to check her writing out! It’s really amazing!
I’ve actually never seen the sequel to Donnie Darko, but yes, the first movie has this peculiar, eerie feel to is that really memorable! The other two I recommended also have a certain peculiarity to them, but are totally different in character, hehe. I feel you with your too long to-watch-list tho xDD
So, now to your questions (I’ve done a lot of thinking on these):
Mostly, I am gravitating to fics in academic contexts like College!AUs and also a different musical context than being an Idol like Band!AUs (……it’s gotta be so obvious that Chanyeol is my bias xD) but I also enjoy to read fantasy themed stuff. For tropes, it’s definitely slowburn romance that just grabs me the easiest. There is something so sweet about reading how two characters get close and then closer and then a tiny bit closer and then they realize the have feelings for each other and it’s the most obvious thing but they fail to see it until the end xD I also like a good amount of angst if it ends well and fluffy, like, I am a b*tch for hurt/comfort stuff. And of course tropes that feel very domestic like “…and they were roommates” and they are having the most fun hanging around each other – doesn’t matter which relationship the characters have. And, as I said, I get totally mental over anything music related – crazy dance parties in the living room, making music together, “hey listen to this I think you’d like this”, you name it. ^^
I am very interested in art! I have very minimal knowledge about it haha but I love going to art museums and learn and see and explore what emotions an artwork can communicate.
My favourite photoshoot…. This one’s so hard, oh god. Well, we’ve got the iconic Acqua di Parma shoot for the W Korea Magazine for November 2019. And the one for March 2019 too, once we’re on it xD absolutely otherworldy beautiful, both of these in their own very special ways *^* also everything from the 1 Billion Vjews (longish hair on him was just <333), Love Shot, The War and Exodus and- I will stop here bc otherwise there would be no stopping. I just think he’s always beautiful, always has been :c I still hope my little selection helps you a bit ^^'
For the environment, I grew up in the countryside so I love it there, how calm and familiar nature is. But some sort of bigger city should be nearby, for all the exciting activities, like museums or concerts and all that. If I can choose I want the best of both worlds xD
Anyway, I love love love space, it’s so fascinating! I don’t have a favourite constellation per se, but my favourite stellar object is the Pleiades star cluster (because of the mythology behind it) and my favourite planet is Jupiter, I think. Or Saturn. I generally love our gas giants <3 It’s both the philosophical and scientific aspect of space that makes my brain whirr, they go hand in hand really. It’s just… our home. Our gigantic, infinite, ever-growing home and we are just a teeny-tiny speck of dust in this vast infinity that holds so much - much more than we can fit in our heads. And yet, here we are still exploring it, doing research, wanting to know what forces work out there, how they work, what is out there in general and if we are alone in this universe. The size of it all makes me feel small in a very calming way, shows me this sort of nihilistic positivity that makes me feel less anxious about life at times. And then again, this ever-expanding and growing universe full of contraditing phenomenons and complex workings and colours, particles, elements and shining stars and deep darkness is something I think we can find in ourselves too. We as humans, as persons are always growing, are full of wonders, of light and dark and complexities that make us us - that let us feel and think in our very own beautiful and unique way. As a wise korean musician called Park Chanyeol once said, I am also a universe. And you are a universe as well. It describes all I really love about people so well. And that's what I love about space too.
Now I talked a whole bunch again xD I forgot if I asked alredy but do you have any favourite books, movies, series you can recommend? Including fanfics too. What kind of fanfics do you like best? Anything that just gets you everytime no matter how often you've read it before? And if you want to share your thoughts on art and space, you always can ^^ like are you interested in these too, any particular favourites? or are you not too much into that? and another things i've meant to ask (only if it doesn't give too much away ofc): What kind of music do you like, what songs do you listen to the most these days?
Anyway, this was pretty messy, I hope you're having a good halloween season~ 🎃

so i’ve loved every piece of media i’ve found through you. what are your favorite podcasts?
ooh, very good question!! i'm pretty behind on podcasts right now, but here's some i've been enjoying / enjoyed in the past! lmk if you want some nonfiction recs too; i went for just fiction here just to keep it a semi-reasonable length, but ive got lotsa nonfiction recs as well
mabel (fantasy/horror, ongoing but on hiatus) — a caretaker named anna moves into an isolated house to take care of an old woman. she starts leaving voicemails for the woman's granddaughter, mabel. there's ghost stuff and lesbian stuff and fae stuff and houses that are alive, and it has wonderfully poetic writing, and the creators are super cool!
wolf 359 (sci fi, completed as of a few yrs ago) — a spaceship orbiting a distant star starts picking up on strange music transmissions, and also: toothpaste-based mutinies, plant monsters, mad science, doppelgangers, explosions, and a really cool spaceship ai who i am in love with!
woe.begone (horror, ongoing and updating weekly!) — mike walters starts playing a mysterious online game called woe.begone. it turns out to be, like, super deadly. [mild spoiler] he cuts his own arm off in EPISODE TWO. really funny narration even in the midst of super horrifying events. did i mention theres also time travel
greater boston (urban fantasy? idk. ongoing, on hiatus) — it's ghosts, baby! but mostly in a less literal way! but sometimes actual ghosts! starts off with this guy, leon, dying. this is not a spoiler, it's literally the basis of everything else that happens in the show, bc it follows all the different chain reactions set off by this one guy's death. also a really good example of setting playing a huge part in a story, which, if you follow me, you probably know that's something i adore!! it's so grounded in boston in a way that really delights me! 10/10, super cool podcast
friends at the table (ttrpg actual play, fantasy + sci fi + horror, depending on the season) — ok, i've only listened to marielda and part of sangfielle so far, but it's real good. i feel like everyone probably knows abt fatt already, but it consistently has some of the best worldbuilding i've heard and the stories they tell are super fun! i started with marielda and i'd say that's a neat place to start if you like fantasy, or start with sangfielle if you like horror.
old gods of appalachia (horror) — anthology series of horror stories set in appalachia, told by appalachian creators! cryptids and monsters and witches and eldritch horrors and other things that lurk in the woods and the mountains and the mines!
there's a pretty wide range of genres/vibes here, so i hope you like at least some of em! feel free to come back and let me know what you think!!

I've been trying to run through some free games I got from the Epic game store, specifically Grand Theft Auto V, Creature in the Well, and most recently Night in the Woods. I quit GTAV about 60% of the way because it sucked, and I can't beat the last area of Creature, so that leaves me to talk a little about NitW and the emotional turmoil it gave me.
Upfront, I'm not interested in games with heavy emphasis on story, least of all visual novels or whatever you want to call this game. However, I've heard mostly positive things about Night in the Woods here and there for the better part of the previous decade. That and the fact I got it for $0 convinced me to finally try it out.
Night in the Woods is an adventure focused on exploration and character drama. Mae Borowski, the protagonist, is a college dropout that just moved back to her Rust Belt hometown for mysterious reasons, and becomes entangled in suspicious happenings. The player will traverse the aged suburban sprawl and rural outskirts of Possum Springs, conversing with family, friends, strangers, and everyone else, uncovering secrets and opening wounds along the way.
Seeing as how Night in the Woods is primarily a story, I'll mostly be discussing that, so look out for spoilers, yo.
After spending two years away, Mae attempts to reconnect with her previously closest friends Bea (an idealist goth whomst had considerable familial and financial responsibility thrust upon her at a young age), Gregg (an anarchist punk with bipolar tendencies), and Angus (an incredibly nice man). Mae pushes the story forward by hanging out with Bea and Gregg, and sometimes Angus. This will often involve going to social outings, running errands, committing crimes, and so on.
Other than her friends, Mae will also have opportunities to interact with her parents, various citizens, and vagrants. whom provide flavor and history to the world while also bringing some of Mae's muddled past to light. The player will traverse environments through walking and jumping around, with the occasional platforming feat required to progress or access certain areas. Occasionally, you'll be presented with small minigames, like a Guitar Hero-clone or red light/green light shoplifting, and a game-within-a-game dungeon crawler that pissed me off to no end. While most activities in the town are benign, certain important events will move the day along and lock you out of further exploration.
Early on, Mae's group stumbles upon a discarded arm and some cryptic dialogue from a few characters. After each day, Mae experiences strange dream sequences that involve platforming segments and surreal representations of her friends and the town. Several hours of gameplay later, Mae witnesses a kidnapping on Halloween by what appears to be a ghost.
In the midst of all this, Mae hangs out with her friends and discovers what they've been up to in her absence. Bea runs the family business for her father, who broke down after her mom died, putting them in dire financial straits and preventing Bea from leaving Possum Springs; she bears resentment towards Mae, since she dropped out of college and came home for no apparent reason while also not maturing at all. Gregg is aimless, sporadic, and uninhibited, while his boyfriend Angus is neat, tidy, and overly helpful. Their relationship appears strong, and they are planning to move to a new city together, though Bea is convinced it won't last.
Mae does her best to strengthen bonds while suffering from a variety of stressors, like her family's money troubles, her self-destructive tendencies and dissociative episodes, and ominous celestial beings invading her mind. This sometimes leads to inadvertent and painful social situations, especially with Bea.
Mae attempts to investigate the supposedly supernatural happenings with the help of Bea, Gregg, and Angus, while her mental health steadily declines. Eventually, the group travels deep into the woods (at night) and stumble into a cult, after which Mae suffers a great fall and enters a coma. After waking up, Mae then attempts to confront the cult head-on, though her friends arrive to help. They enter a cave, find the cult again, discover the eldritch horror they serve and explore her personal connection to it, accidentally cause a cave-in and trap the cultists, escape the cave, and try to make sense of what happened after the fact.
Now, don't get me wrong. I rather enjoyed Night in the Wood's story. I really liked all the characters. I loved the dialogue. Even the platforming and various minigames were fine, if simplistic and occasionally annoying. The structure of this paragraph seems as though it's leading towards a big 'but'. I just wanted to say that I really liked the game, even though I don't generally enjoy video game stories, and especially not video games primarily about a story. Though I'm not from a run-down midwestern town, and obviously don't have the same sort of personal relationships she does, Mae's emotional strife and insecurities really resonated with me. Her personal thoughts and reactions often made me just stop and think about the many mistakes I've made with the people I care about and all the relationships I've ruined.
However, if the plot wanted to spend so much time on Mae and her friends, it should have been about Mae and her friends. Conversely, if it wanted to be about a spooky cult in a small town, it should have spent much more time on a spooky cult in a small town. The plot is torn between two diametrically opposed focuses, those being Mae's struggles to maintain relationships and her dealing with suspicious supernatural occurrences in Possum Springs. So much time passes before anything really happens with the cult and cosmic horror that I feel some people might even forget there is a cult and cosmic horror, and Mae isn't just experiencing a psychotic break for no reason.
In the end, the cult goes unresolved, and it's unclear what the relationship is with the residents of Possum Springs, or what its powers even are. I don't need the game to explain every aspect in detail, but no one appears to be affected by the existence of the cult and its god other than Mae. My brain was going into overdrive looking for clues, making patterns, identifying red herrings, anything that might help me understand the mystery, when in reality there was no mystery to understand.
There is also a severe lack of actual choice or decision making in terms of dialogue, and a distinct absence of any real challenge in gameplay. I definitely felt that this story could have been more efficiently told if it were in a book, usually after spending a few minutes walking around trying to find something important and
It doesn't help that I sometimes accidentally skipped certain segments, since it's not always explicitly clear if an action will push the day forward and lock me in. I even completely missed a third of the investigations since I chose to check out the historical society building with Gregg second when the game expected me to do it last. This sort of problem led to me giving up completely on other story-focus games like Kentucky Route Zero since I constantly skipped and missed chunks of stuff or did things out of the intended order and ruined the flow of events.
Now this has obviously gotten a little too long, so I'll just wrap it up by saying that Night in the Woods is great and I recommend it. It made me feel feelings, deep feelings, like I was moments away from crying on more than one occasion.
Thanks for reading. I have a lot on my mind because of this game, so I hope it was worth your time.

You Know I’m No Good - o n e
Summary: Tallulah Forester isn’t a bad person, she’s just made one too many bad decisions. Which is why she has now found herself four hours away from her home in Seattle, to her estranged fathers little home in La Push, with her stepmom and two half sisters, whom she has only been with a couple of times in the past 15 years. Her mother and father had agreed, shockingly, that the small town lifestyle would be beneficial to their wild child, but bad habits die hard, especially when it comes to being in control.
Timeline: Takes place a few years after the events of Breaking Dawn
Pairing: Paul Lahote x OC (Tallulah is 18)
Warnings (future chapters): Drugs/Alcohol, Sexual Content, Sexual Tension, Jealousy, Mental Health, (Mentions of SA, but no details)
Tumblr media
There are losses that rearrange the world. Deaths that change the way you see everything, grief that tears everything down. Pain that transports you to an entirely different universe, even while everyone else thinks nothing has really changed.
Tallulah stared out the window in the back seat with her knees tucked up to her chest, arms wrapped around them tightly as her father drawled on, switching from topic to topic, your sisters and Kira are so excited your coming to we’ve already enrolled you at the school to do you remember this person or that person? Anything to fill the silence from creating a  suffocating atmosphere in the car. It all sounded like white noise to her, she barely remembered La Push.
She moved to Seattle with her mother when she was six and the two of them never looked back, whenever she would see her father or half-sisters, they would meet halfway in Port Angeles and then head their separate ways. It was easier that way for everyone involved.
Josette and Lenna, her half-sisters, were ten the last time she spent any actual memory inducing time with them. Although they are only two years younger than her, they were so different. So in tune with the tribe, whereas she barely knew anything about the histories. She doubted anything would have changed in that respect.
Tallulah's headaches from her hangover, or maybe lack of sleep, she thought, and as she laid her head against the window she listened to the sound of passing cars and her dad's voice as she slipped into a dreamless sleep.
--------
Tallulah awoke to the sound of the car door shutting and a nearby dog barking, she rubbed the sleep from her eyes, grateful her headache was gone, but now in its place was a lump in her throat, as she looked around her surroundings outside of the car. The little blue house she vaguely remembers. The tire swings in the old oak tree. A woman's laugh caught her attention, as she looked to see her dad and stepmom, chatting away, happier than ever. Tallulah felt so out of place. Like she was an intruder coming in to ruin her fathers happy, little family with her black cloud of disappointment.
Tallulah groaned to herself as she unbuckled herself, might as well get this over with, she thought to herself while opening the car door and slowly stepping out, stretching as she did. She could feel the two adults eyes on her as she shut the door gently, looking towards them, Kiras big smile, that if she didn’t know better would look insincere, but she did know. Her stepmom was a tryhard, doing anything and everything to be the perfect wife, the perfect mother and stepmother, no matter how hard Tallulah pushed against her kind persona. She was the reason her family was in pieces. Kira and her father were no doubt in love, even when her parents were still together, they never looked at each other the way she sees her father looks at Kira and vice versa, like they are each other's reasons for being. She moves, he moves. Tallulah nearly physically cringes. It's not something she ever wants for herself, that fairy tale love.
She walks toward them slowly, Kira meeting her halfway, wrapping her arms in a bear crushing hug that she doesn’t reciprocate, looking past her at her father who has that ‘be nice’ look on his face, and clearly, she was in no place to fight that. She couldn’t help but think, if this doesn't work out the way her parents think it will, where is the next place she would be shipped off to?
Kiras' soft, sweet voice shakes her from her thoughts, “it's so nice to see you again. Your hair has gotten so long.” Tallulah raises an eyebrow before stating, “I've cut it a few times since I saw you last.” Kira laughs off the dig, before walking towards her father and saying, “the twins are out, we’d figured you'd be better off getting settled without a full house.” Tallulah nodded in response as her father spoke up for the first time since arriving, “besides, we have some things to discuss. Expectations and what not,”
Tallulah eyebrows furrowed in confusion, “Rules? I’m eighteen. I don’t need to have any rules.” Her arms crossed over chest, as if she were a child.
“If you think that you will be continuing your..extracurricular activities that you have picked up in Seattle, you are wrongly mistaken” he says in what she assumes is his fatherly tone that works on the twins, but not her, he gave up that right fifteen years ago. “Your mother has filled us in on everything, Tally” She rolls her eyes at this, as if she knows everything, she thought to herself.
Kira stood up on the porch, just inside the doorway, “Joseph, let her settle in, we can have this conversation tomorrow, after the bonfire.” she said in ‘dont fight me in this tone’, to which Tallulah appreciated, yet was confused, “Bonfire?” she asked, as she made her way up the steps of the house leaving her dad to bring in her few bags, “The tribe bonfire party happens once a month, the girls love it, plus you can meet some of your classmates before you start school.” Kira spoke as if this was something she should look forward to, but in all honesty, large gatherings were not Tallys scene, despite what her mother thinks. But, she would attend, save face and hope with good behaviour she would be back in Seattle with her friends in no time. This thought reminded her to shoot them a text quickly explaining her situation, hoping they would see it as an SOS, before shoving her phone back in her pocket and following Kira around the house like a little kid, listening to where things were kept, which rooms were which and then finally a stop at the room in which she would call hers. The walls were a blank, cream color, with light blue bedding and a wooden desk shoved in the corner, along with what looks like textbooks sitting on top.She nods politely as Kira mentions they will be leaving within the hour but try to settle in and suggests she may want to change out of her cotton shorts, as it “gets quite cold compared to Seattle” as she put it.
-----
7:14 read the time on Tallulah's phone as they walked up to the beach, the sun had just begun to set and the temperature had, in fact, dropped quite a bit, thankful for Kiras advice, Tallulah had changed into a pair of loose, blue jeans and had tucked her hands into the pockets of her oversized, black hoodie, fingers curled under the long sleeves to keep them warm.
She walked slightly behind Kira and her father, standing off to the side as they were greeted by people, before they had reached whom she suspected to be the twins. They looked so different from what she remember, her father lowly spoke to her, as Kira caught their attention, pointing out the smaller of the two as Josette and the taller, as Lenna. Josie dawned a baggie pair of dark pair of overalls, with a striped sweater underneath, her hair in two space buns, which was quite different from her sister, in her plaid mini skirt and form-fitting long sleeve shirt, her pin straight, dark hair fanned out behind her back. Tallulah could already tell they wouldn’t get along.
She watched as Lenna stalked away from her mother to a group of people who looked around their age, before snapping her eyes back at the sound of her name being called, to see Kira and Josette waving her over, before she could even move her feet willingly, her dad was nudging her in their direction, as if she would turn and walk the other way.
Josette moved over so she could sit directly beside, a friendly smile that resembled Kiras on her face, “ Hi Tally” she spoke her childhood nickname softly, “it’s been awhile, you look so much older, not in a bad way, like mature, adultish, but obviously your only two years older than me so not technically an adult..” she rambled off, “Hey Josette” and before Tallulah could say anything else, she was interrupted by the younger girl, “Its Josie or Jo, whichever fine, just not Josette” she spoke quickly, a pale blush crossing her olive toned skin, to which Tallulah just nodded and asked, “How long do these things last?”
“That depends,” Josie spoke, “Typically the adults leave once the stories and tribal matter finishes, so maybe an hour or two. But we usually stay later, or at least Lenna does.” she said, looking in the direction of her twin, who was now surrounded by a group of other rambunctious teenagers. “Sam Uley's crew is here tonight, so who knows if that will even happen, especially after last time.” Tallulah didn’t question the younger girl, mainly because she just didn’t care to. She looked away from Lenna and her friends, her eyes gazing on all the unfamiliar faces sitting on logs or picnic tables surrounding the growing fire.
Her eyes stopped on what seemed to be a couple, the girl was beautiful, her long black hair was tied up into a neat ponytail, she was talking to a man in a wheelchair beside her, who looked like he could be her dad, her eyes shifted to the man sitting next her, his arm wrapped around her shoulders, he was in shorts and a shirt and looked perfectly comfortable in the frigid air, he was joking around with the boys next to him, as if the beautiful girl next to him was really there, despite his arm around her, “Thats Paul Lahote.” Josie said from next to her, causing her to flush from her obvious staring, he looked in their direction, as if he had heard Josie say his name, they locked eyes for a split second before Tallulah looked away embarrassed she had been caught. “Don’t worry, Lenna stares at him too,” Josie laughed jokingly, “I wasn’t staring” Tallulah spoke defensively, Josie raised her hands in surrender before leaning in close, “looks like he's the one staring now” Josie grinned, watching as Tallulah looked back at the older boy, noticing that he was staring at her, almost like a deer in headlights. He looked so familiar, though she doubts that they have ever met before. He smiles at her slightly, his arm retracting from the girl beside him despite her protest to his movement, and now the beautiful women is also looking at her, causing Tallulah to look down at her sleeve covered hands that lay in her lap, only looking up again when her father sits in the spot next to her, asking if she's alright, to which she absentmindedly nods her head. Is she alright after her entire life has been altered in the last 12 hours? What kind of question is that?
Her eyes are drawn back to the spot Paul Lahote was sitting in, or had been sitting in, the seat was now vacant, the man nowhere in her line of sight, and she can't help but feel a little disappointed.

I have a feeling I'm either going to get Honey or a Horrortale skele, so here we go for Matchups! -🍊
Personality
-introverted
-nervous/jumpy/sensitive
-artistic/creative
-very sleepy. I stay up till 5am and sleep till 2pm.
-helpful! I like feeling needed lol.
-sensitive. I have an abusive mother im in therapy for, so I need someone soft :(
Hobbies
-im very artistic! I love drawing, painting, listening to music, even making it, anything that keeps my hands busy and my ADHD at bay.
-minecraft! I've just downloaded the game, I've had it for a year now, and I love the building in it lol. The mobs scare me tho.
-rps!!! I LOVE roleplaying!!!! Rpg games, DnD, hell, I even have a few oc based text rps on discord I'm into. It gets me SO excited when I make up little stories with my friends, the gremblin in my enjoys shiny new universes
Dislikes
-Snarky/teasing/snappy jokes, or being teased in general. I'm a sensitive person who takes a bit too much to heart. Mal and Red scare me.
-loud noises/crowded areas. Another trama trigger for me, I feel trapped in a situation and it makes me paranoid. I'd rather sit outside and watch a thunderstorm than go to a local fair.
-being pushed out of my comfort zone and/or being forced to get in contact with family I've kicked out of my life, the whole 'well family is family!' saying means jack shit to me. I've put my demons at bay, I don't want someone to push me out of my comfort zone, or else I feel sick with nerves. I don't like traveling or being around a lot of people, I'd rather just text someone than see them face to face, words come easier then. Brain weird.
Deal breakers
-anyone who forces me to be social. I have anxiety, leave me be dammit. If someone kept pushing and complaining about it, it would make me feel guilty and blegh. Let's not go down that rabbit hole.
-cheating, I have a low image of myself, I don't need someone flirting with others or being all handy with them. Once the wound it made, I'm not letting the knife near me again.
-someone who yells a lot. Loud voices, especially male ones, make me panicked and scared. If Edge ever lectured me I would simply. Cry.
-someone violent, which is a given. Sorry mafia men, but blood scares me. I'm a wheeny.
-someone forcing me to change. I'm chonky, so being forced into a diet or something would make me think low of myself, I couldn't stay with someone like that. Or someone pushing me to get anxiety meds or giving me a bedtime. I like my independence and I'm working on myself, I don't need to be pressured to do it faster.
-passive aggressiveness, it makes me confused on what to say in an argument and that junk.
Flaws
-most of these have already been said, but I'm introverted with low energy, I don't like going to big events or traveling away from home.
-sensitive. Any jokes aimed at me can and will be obsessed over to oblivion, I'm not the teasing type.
-awkward. I was kinda isolated as a kid, so social skills are hard. Don't expect me to pop up on conversations all the time, I mostly listen to what my friends say and nod along.
-hygene. This is also something I'm working on. I've had depression episodes that sometimes still surface, sometimes it's hard to even leave my bed, let along brush my teeth, hair, etc. Some days I'm just not feeling it. I also come from a neglectful house, so I wasn't even raised with those habits. But I'm trying, and that's what I'm focusing on. Don't be like 'ewEwW yOu HaVeNt BrUsHeD yOuR TeEtH tOdAy?!' That's both hurtful and annoying, life sucks man
-god aweful at spelling, sorry rat
Attraction
-someone who's soft and caring. I never had a motherly figure, and I'm too old now for my dad to watch me like a toddler, so I want to feel the love I mostly missed out on. Not babied or anything, just loved and cared for. Hug me, please. Alternatively: aha mommy kink go brr
-cuddly/affectionate. I need to feel wanted, since I was raised in a house that I wasn't, so words of reassurance are really nice, especially if that person wants to be around me close enough to cuddle
I tried making this as neat as I could, since I tend to ramble a lot, so I hope this layout is easy to read! Tell me if I need to add any physics stuff, thank you for the matchup! -🍊
Alright, you were right on probably getting a horror lol. I think the best fit for you is……..BASIL (horrorswap papyrus)!
Here’s the tricky bit. Getting to know basil is here. He’s also extremely anxious, to the point where he’s practically non-verbal to anyone he doesn’t know. But once you do get close enough for him to crush and even confess, you’ll get to see a butch more protective and attentive side to him. Basil is a protector at his core and actually prefers a timid SO unlike honey who likes confident and organized characters.
Basil would be great at balancing between encouraging you to be your best self and not being too pushy. Gentle is basically his main personality trait. And considering who it is here, it’s hard to feel nagged with him being the one giving you those gentle reminders.
You like cuddles? You’re getting your cuddles. Basil is shy about touch so it’s up to you to initiate, but when you do, you’ll find that he’s pretty much touch starved. He likes having you in his lap the most. Basil has mild insomnia so cuddling with a SO is the best way to help him doze off
Basil hasn’t been introduced to the wonderful world of video games yet. Minecraft would be a great starter! If you manage to get him into it, he’ll wind up getting addicted to sims most likely. Or FarmVille. He likes chill games
One important thing about dating basil is that your basically going to have to go vegetarian. You can eat meat outside the house when he’s not around, but the sight and taste of raw meat is a trigger for him. Luckily he’s a wonderful cook and makes up for it in his baking and pasta ;)
I was also thinking of rust and possibly slim for you. (Yes I know slim is a mafia but he’s great at keeping his work hidden)

1. Funny Thing Fate, definitely. All of the Autistic!Readers are pretty close, though. What a fun question! Thank you for asking me ❤️
2. You know, I don't really know. I usually just pick whoever I get more excited by (or whoever I need for narrative purposes, since I write in first person). I do occasionally ask the Discord in the event of a tiebreaker, though. Thanks for thinking that hard about my writing, lol! You all amaze me 🥰
3. I meant the things I included in that paragraph, so things like infantilizing him or making him behave/appear like an actual, literal child; or acting like his autism, physique, or hair length somehow inherently makes him less of a man (I'm not referring to headcanons here, feel free to do whatever you want - but sweeping statements about these things like "just look at him, he's clearly not a man" are just... I mean...).
I've seen a lot of people overexaggerate his autistic tendencies to fetishize him. People make him into a caricature of a meek, useless wimp, when that's not at all how he's depicted (as an autistic person, a lot of them are just a few beers away from straight up calling him the r slur). It tends to be more of a problem among women fetishizing MLM, which is a problem not unique to Spencer's character.
My original point, however, was just that fanon is always overdramatic, and often times a sexualized caricature of a character. People seem to think it only happens with S12+ when that is blatantly untrue.
4. Anytime! I'm happy to answer questions about what things mean. A lot more people have been writing gender neutral stuff lately, and I hope that trend continues!
5. I think about this a lot, actually! It's a lot easier to write fanfic than an original world, but it certainly is crazy. I started writing for this fandom in Feb 2020, and I am less than 80,000 away from 1,000,000 words, which is just insane to me.
And thank you, I also think you are a very neat deity.
6. Hey, friend! That's not a rude question, although my answer is unsatisfying. I literally have no idea. I just did it because other people did it (no joke). I think some people do it because using parentheses ensures that if someone does a Find and Replace, they won't catch anything but that. You know, in case someone decides to put something that would create the letters y/n next to each other. No idea when that would happen, though.
I guess it's just personal preference!

you wiped the drop of sweat off your forehead as you approached the top of a hill. you sat down on the grassy floor and took out a flask still full of drinking water. you downed a quarter of it, feeling your body re energize as you do so. you never thought it would take this long to search for them.
how many months has it been? five? six? you've lost count, having to travel miles across the world just to find the hidden treasure you've been seeking for years. see, you were born with a 'unique' aura. everyone has their own which determines what kind of magic they would be using for the rest of their lives. your family had the common ice or water elementals but you turned out to be the black swan in a ballet full of snowy white ones.
you were born with an aura that was powerful enough to cause a black out, in other words, you had a dark magic aura and somehow managed to survive throughout the years. your mother was no different from the rest but she tried her best to guide you on controlling your powers or even combine your magic powers with hers to make an elemental combo. she died two years before you went on this journey to find the one only other person who successfully survived their own birth of having this magic aura. the only things you knew about them were that they were at least 20 years older and that they were born as a female.
the fact that only you and one other person have this magical ability made you think about them day and night. were you their soulmate? or did they think of you too? were they a kind or evil person? did they ever confuse people like you did? were they affected by society's comments that they're now shut away in some dungeon? you could go on and on for days about this special person even though you haven't met them yet. you were eager to find them, even if it took you years to do so.
as you wondered about the unique person, you stared into the dark abyss with shining dots, not realising your eyelids were shut soon after. that night you dreamt of all the possible outcomes this journey would end, mostly happy endings where you would find the person and be their friend or you get to spend the rest of your life with them. you did not want to think of the sad ones, yet your mind wanted to see you suffer. nightmares were common as they came with your dark powers but you still hated it when they disturb your perfect sleep. with that, you woke up from a nightmare just as the person was about to strike a knife in your chest.
the pain felt so real that as soon as you woke up, your hand clutched onto your chest. luckily (or not so) you heard the uniform paced heartbeat from your eardrums. this caused you so much as you did not even see that the sun was just above the horizon, greeting the earth a good morning. you sighed in relief as you thank the universe for not getting you eaten by a wild animal.
you stood up, stretching your arms and legs after another night of sleeping on a thick cloth. you packed up your things and placed your sturdy backpack on you before starting your trekking journey. you checked your phone for any updates or news of the world that was not so boring as you began to walk south towards a small town. once approaching the main road, you slipped your phone back into your front pocket before following the flow of cars.
a smile appeared on your face, looking at how idle the town was at eight in the morning. it wasn't so noisy as most of the cars had stopped at diners or cafes for a tasty breakfast. the only things you could hear were people greeting each other with a simple 'hello' and the birds that had just been awoken from their slumber.
you checked the amount of money you had left; apparently, it was enough for you to last three days for all three meals and then it was downhill from there. you shook your head, thinking of ways to earn at least a little bit of money before moving to another town (if you needed to). your eyes drifted from the trees to the bakery that was on the opposite side of the road.
you could see the silhouette of a person placing buns in their respective containers. the person was in chef whites, with their sleeves rolled above their elbows. you really didn't want to catch feelings for anyone at the moment, especially in this state of being homeless and short on money. nonetheless, you were hungry and so you decided that you wanted some fresh baked buns on a saturday morning like this.
as you walked into the cozy bakery, you noticed a variety of desserts and buns arranging from croissants to baked pizza buns. the aroma in the air made your stomach growl. you took one of the pick-up trays and a pair of tongs and immediately went for the custard and red bean buns.
"oh my god," a voice exclaimed followed by a bit of coughing. "why do you smell so bad?"
you brought an arm to your nose, smelling yourself. you actually didn't smell half-bad. it only has been a day since you showered properly, how could it be that bad? you rolled your eyes as you looked in the direction of the voice. ah, it was the silhouette from earlier.
"is this how you greet customers?" you shot back, raising one of your eyebrows.
"no, of course not," the person said. "but your stench is unbearable." they scoffed and shook their head, giving a smug expression.
"well, i'll only be here for just a bit. don't worry about it, i'll be out before your regulars arrive," you said, assuring that you WOULD be out before anything else happened.. but you did not. as you didn't expect the prices of food to be that high.
"look at this place," the employee said, leaning his palms against the edge of the counter. "what did you expect?"
he was right, the place looked like it was straight up from a renaissance painting with its mini chandeliers and pink roses on the sides as decorations. it did look like a modern cafe twisted with some hint of the classics.
"is there anything i could do? to pay for this i mean," you asked them, hiding your embarrassment of the lack of money.
"depends… what kind of element do you use?"
"...ice," you lied. no one would want a rare dark element in their place.
"hm.. i guess we could use some ice making help," they thought, then looked back at you who seemed desperate for the job. yes, it would hold you back on a few days but you really needed the money.. and a place to stay if they let you.
"okay, then. you're hired," they said as they lent out a hand for you to shake. it was covered in leftover flour and smelled like yeast. you grabbed his hand and shook it.
"the name's juyeon, and you?"
"y/n… i'm guessing you're a fire user?" you replied. it was obvious as he was cocky, yet a charming fella. you could say a demon in disguise.
"clever, i like that in people," he smirked, his face looked smug and it really pissed you off- but he might be your new manager or boss so you stuck up to it and let out a simple fake chuckle. "any other questions?
"do i get a place to stay along with the job?"
"no but you could stay over at my place," he acknowledged. your eyes dart around the room before they landed on him, as you let out a laugh.
"excuse me?"
"you heard me. i have a spear bed and everything," he said. you were baffled, it seemed like he didn't care if you were a serial killer, plus, he only knew your first name and what 'element' you responded to. what were you going to do?
"fine," you said, already looking forward to the comfort your body was going to feel once you finally sleep on a mattress.
"alright then, let's get to work barista."

as you both get to his apartment, you gazed at your surroundings. everything looked neat, and not a spick of dust were to be seen. you look at the mini hallway in the studio apartment of his and see two doors, opposite of each other and another at the end of it. before you could even step foot in the kitchen, the male pulled you aside. your reflexes almost caused you to punch his stupid face when you remembered that you were just a guest at this comfort place of his.
"rules," he said, in a stern voice. "one, not too much noise between eleven at night to six in the morning. two, don't use too much of the hot water because i'm touched starved too-"
you rolled your eyes at his last remark, acknowledging that it was a cruel true joke. "-three, save some snacks for me if you're planning to eat it all and four, we leave the bakery together and come back together. i'm not sure who your guardian is but, i'll make sure you're in one piece once you return to them"
"i'm my own guardian, excuse you."
"still, your safety is guaranteed when you're with me," juyeon claimed. you thought it was rubbish but still, he had a bigger brother vibe with the way he spoke and so you went with the flow.
"the left one's mine, the last one's the bathroom," he said, referring to the hallway of doors you were staring at. the muffled sound of news reporters from the television drowned itself in the background when you close the door behind you. a smile appeared on your face as you got to have your own room, without juyeon ever bugging you.
you place your heavy army backpack beside the door as you lay on the bed that was neatly made. you smiled, finally having a proper place to sleep. you thank god for the (annoying) co-worker that you met that day. you didn't even have a chance to shower before your thoughts drifted away, causing you to sleep.
the next morning, juyeon woke you up by shouting your name from the kitchen multiple times. you groaned at the sound of his voice at seven in the morning when you were used to waking up at nine. you sat up and started your day from there. thankfully, it wasn't too exhausting.
a morning walk to the cafe bakery was thankfully peaceful with the both of you not being the big social type nor the small talk type. the warm rays of sunlight made your morning so much better. you began working at the bar, where you produced many types of tea and other refreshing drinks. you managed to conjure up ice easily with some tricks your mother taught as a child.
you introduced yourself to the regulars as a new employee at the place and they politely welcomed you to the town and cafe. their smiles were genuine and sweet, they gave off a motherly feel whenever it appeared. yours, too, was genuine. you missed being in a community like this, so dearly that you almost teared up at the sight of a child being kind to you.
the night was better. the walk back to his place was filled with stories about the regulars that juyeon had been told. you had inserted some dull dad jokes here and there, making him let out a chuckle at least once.
once you both arrived at the apartment, you immediately went to get your shower supplies and headed to the bathroom. while showering, you thought of ways you could find her faster. you have tried multiple ways but still couldn't find solid proof of her whereabouts. you sighed scrubbing the bubbly shampoo onto your scalp. you could ask juyeon for help but your identity would be revealed and he might just kick you out for that. maybe, just maybe, you could keep this act up? for a little longer. at least until you get enough money to live on your own.
that was what you did for the next few months, keeping your act up for the rest of the world. you were careful not to reveal too much of yourself, not spreading too much information across to other people, not even juyeon. even if you had secrets, he still treated you as normal as everyone else. though, he did seem weird at times as if he could read your thoughts. this scared you as it wasn't impossible to learn occlumency even if it took time. over time, you and juyeon developed this best friend bond with each other; protecting and having each other's backs when needed. of course, he was the same person as the one you met on your first day around town which left a sense of comfort in you.
a nightmare dressed as a daydream was what you were as you would sneak out on nights before non-working days. you had to let out a piece of your dark powers out somehow. even if you knew how to conceal them, it didn't mean you could control them forever. you found a cave in the far east where no one would hear nor see you, and so that became your little relaxation cave.
not so long after, you found out that there was a man who could find things you couldn't. some say he had connections to the deeper net or even that he was related to some who were part of an underground gang. nonetheless, it didn't stop you from seeing the fella once a week or two. this method made itself a purpose as he gave you more information than any general person could; her hometown, her family members, and so much more.
it seemed like a miracle, though you never thought that she would have children, more than that of a son and a daughter. a fact that surprised you was that she had the same surname as your roommate. that was all the information he had, it was not much but you still thanked him for it. your night-ventures continued on, exploring the town and gathering bits of information through drunken folks at the tavern.
you would get home just before dawn and sleep until noon. of course, the male you lived with would nag you on waking up late but he never really cared either. he loved to see your bite back with your poor choice of words. everything felt right and everything felt okay, you were in peace with the world.
Tumblr media
"where are you going?" his voice emerged from the darkness, causing your body to jump.
"i'm just gonna get some drinks," you answered, in a confident tone as you bit your inner bottom lip.
"are you going to go see him again?" juyeon asked, snickering along with his words. "don't think i don't know what you're up to."
his statements and questions made your mind run wild; how did he know? why didn't he ever stop you? did he understand what you were doing? did someone tell him? you became a still worried mess, not knowing what to say nor do. you were stuck in a pose as if medusa were to turn you into stone.
"please, just tell me where you're going tonight, or bring me with you," he said, his voice groggy as if he had woken up from a short sleep.
"no, i'm sorry, juyeon," the words flew out of your mouth as your thoughts re-organized themselves. "you can't"
"why not?" he asked, once again. at this point his questions seemed like an endless stream of cloth.
"because- you just can't," you sighed, relaxing your shoulders and going up to him. you didn't have any excuses because you weren't used to lying so much to someone who you cared for. "it's dangerous if you do, please just listen to me."
he sighed deeply as he always does before he nags. "i want to listen to you, y/n, but you going off in the middle of the night and coming home late isn't… so you. do you need to talk? or something. i know i'm not good with comfort but i'm here for you if you need to let out anything at all."
you felt broken, because you knew how much he longed for this type of relationship. he had told you about his sister that passed not so long ago and how much he adored her. you were about to say something when he placed his hands on your arms and gripped them, as a sign to not leave him.
"could you just tell me? please? i promise it would be a secret," he pleaded, truly worrying about what became a routine.
"you should sleep, juyeon. you have work tomorrow," you tried to avoid answering the question as much as possible but he made it so hard.
"i just want to know-"
"juyeon, you don't need to know. it's nothing important. you don't need to worry about me, alright? i promise i'll be okay," you said, in a sensible tone. you heard sniffles from the male that stood before you, as his grip on your arms loosened. he cracked a smile which held in pain mixed with joyful memories.
"you sound just like her," he said, in a shaky tone. he sounded weak, and you could see the pool of tears around his eyes. in that moment, you felt your breath turn shallow. you closed your eyes and immediately embraced the bigger man into a tight hug. you knew who he was referring to as he would do it so often when you opened your mouth to say anything. "you're like her" or "you act like my mother, you know that?", he always stated these in a cheery manner, but seeing him shatter like this made your heart wrench.
you decided to skip your night shenanigans when you lead him towards his room. you've never been in it but stepping into it, felt so cozy as if it were a cold breeze on a hot summer day. you sat him down on the edge of his bed, seeing his tears turn into a gold-ish colour. you sighed, seeing this side of him. you always saw the bright sunflower yellow but not this burnt out maroon red. you sat in silence as his sniffles calmed down.
the balcony door let in a ray of moonlight which shone on the boy beside you. you turned to look at him, and saw a grin emerge from his lips.
"thank you," he said in a whisper-tone. "for being here, y/n."
juyeon stared at the pale full moon that was on display for the people of the earth. "i'll always be here," you say, holding his hand. it was a nice intimate moment for the both of you. the state of serenity made you think about the things that led up to this right here and it was all because of a person whom you've never met.
Tumblr media
"y'know.. she had the same powers as you," juyeon said, sipping his hot chocolate. you both were seated at the kitchen island with hot cocoas and mini marshmallows. it was almost four in the morning and so you both decided to stay up a little bit more, as if the sands of time didn't take precious hours of rest.
"she was a frost user as well?," you asked him, eager to know his family background.
"no," he said, chuckling before stuffing a few marshmallows into his already rich drink. you sat there, with one lifted eyebrow. "what are you talking about exactly?" you asked, warming your hands as it cupped the mug in front of you.
"you know what i mean," he said, holding in a deceiving smirk. your eyes widened and your hand gripped onto the mug handle. it wasn't the fact that he had discovered your hidden powers nor how he had hid the information that he knew your powers but it was the fact that the person that you were looking for all this time had died.
all the traveling and suffering lead you to this moment had been for nothing? you did all of this for her, and yet you turned into a sobbing mess when you visited her grave. juyeon held you close as you weeped when you saw her headstone. it absolutely broke you even if you've never even seen her nor heard her. he stayed strong for you when your head was buried into his chest. he could even feel the mix of rage and sadness as your powers seemed to leak from your tears.
"i miss her too," he spoke up, still caressing your weak state. "i'm sure she would have adored you so much, y/n"
your feelings got the best of you and soon every noise stopped, with only an ever-lasting ring in your ears. your tear-filled eyes opened to see a ring of dark purple surround you like a globe with your feet dangling in the air. it was a new, unspoken sight to see but what had happened outside the bubble was a new horror to you.
juyeon was laying on the ground, upon the many other graves. his skin covered with burnt marks of some kind, and his chest area covered with blood spots which may came from bullets. your bubble disappeared as you jumped down on the ground, going over to his lifeless body as fast as you could.
"y/n.." he said, breathless. "i'll be okay."
"but.."
"they'll be here soon."
you were confused on what he was referring to - not until you heard police and ambulance sirens coming from a distance. you cupped his face which managed to give you a small grin even in his hurtful state. "don't leave. don't leave me please."
"you need to run, y/n"
"stop. stop.. saying that," you pleaded, with some of your leftover tears dripping onto his burnt clothing. you could hear his last breaths too, which made it harder for you to ever leave his side.
"i'll see you later.. alright?" he asked, as his final words. his body fell to limp in your arms, when your tears started flowing like a never ending river. the sirens were coming closer at the scene of the crime, and there you sat, clutching onto him with your last hope of humanity. you didn't care about the police nor the property you destroyed, you lost him. you lost HIM.
in that moment, the world stayed still with no promise that it was going to spin again. your head felt dizzy as your limbs felt numb. you knew it only had been a few minutes but it felt like centuries with your silenced screams. you didn't want to be outcast, you were already alone in the world with no one else you could call for help. everyone else had their counterparts but all you had was yourself. you hated the thought of being lonely and so you stayed there, weak, just to feel something worth living for.
