also, i got to the part in jane eyre with the wedding and i am more gobsmacked than ever. NOT ONLY did this book suddenly increase a level in racism but rochester confessed to 1. making jane think he was gonna marry that other lady so she'd be jealous 2. secret attic wife and jane is like. reader i forgave him immediately. GIRL HIS WIFE WAS IN YOUR ROOM TEARING YOUR SHIT UP. wake up!!! get out of there!!!!! i mean she literally did decide to leave and good for her i was HOLLERING but oh my god every single thing he did in the month up to the wedding was a red flag.
i also just realized that had she not been lovesick fooling around with him in that time she might have gotten to meet her uncle before he kicked it??? like. i don't think a single good thing has happened to jane in this entire book that wasn't made worse later:
orphaned, child abuse
got sent away to school, but school sucked bad because of bullies and starvation and sickness etc
made a friend, but her friend died
got a job that wasn't at school, but there's a crazy lady in the house and there's also rochester, who might be worse
mrs reed finally died, but she kept the secret of the uncle from jane
proposed to by a rich guy, but he's already married
was able to contact her uncle, sort of, but he's gonna be dead before she can ever meet him
LIKE CAN WE HAVE ONE GOOD THING. can one single good thing happen to jane. if her happy ending is marrying that wackjob im gonna throw my phone against the wall

this is like a massive post because this is also our final farnauld playlist that's made of four parts. it's meant to tell their full story <3 can't say we really expect anyone to read through this or even check the songs but if someone wants a really weird playlist, u can listen to it here xx
ACT I: WE JUST PLAY ALONG, COME ON, COME ON
001. TRY TRY TRY --- RACHAEL SAGE. 002. I’M NOT CALLING YOU A LIAR --- FLORENCE + THE MACHINE. 003. COME ON --- WHITE LIES. 004. ON DIRECTING --- TEGAN & SARA. 005. POISON --- VAULTS.  006. EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE --- DENMARK + WINTER. 007. CANDLES --- DAUGHTER. 008. WICKED TEETH --- CIARAN LAVERY. 009. AFFECTION --- AMBER RUN.
this is the part where they get together. they're off-balance. he's playing his own game and she's trying to make everything work together. this is the first time cracks begin to form within the croÿ ranks. this part of the playlist is a mixture of songs that are fairly dark. the most notable lyrics can be found in ' poison ': " we both know you're sweet and blind / palm struck on the floor // won't you let me poison your heart ? ". isa posted this part of the playlist years ago and it's here x.
ACT II: THERE'S HISTORY IN A SCAR
010. PURGE --- ALLIE X. 011. WE USED TO LAUGH / 9 TO 9 --- FLORA CASH. 012. HYENA --- THE EDITORS. 013. LIFFEY --- PILLOW QUEENS. 014. SPIDERS --- THE EDITORS. 015. TIME COMES IN ROSES --- BESS ATWELL. 016. I'M NOT YOURS --- ANGUS & JULIA STONE. 017. PETRICHOR --- KEATON HENSON.
this would be the post-break up era. their numerous conversations and arnauld's relentless bullying. the wounds were raw, incredibly so and arnauld had a need to show her the mistake she had made by cutting him so. fanni on the other hand struggled between feeling proud of her decision and knowing she had let go of more than just a person she loved: it was the opportunity to build a life outside of her family. both of them tormented each other just by existing. it was difficult to hate someone you loved. it was difficult to despise someone you had known so well. the sensitivity eventually made space for some sort of a relationship. they could hold conversations. they could blackmail each other and remind the other how deep their knowledge of the other went. the first two songs most certainly represent fanni and her struggles. in ' purge ' we get the lines: " you went anyway, but all of your chains / and ropes holding me stayed in place " and " every word you told me left such a rancid taste in my mouth / i can't purge you ". we had ' we used to laugh / 9 to 9 " on every edit back in 2019. it was such a perfect song for them at that time. " you said i won't ever leave your side no one else is worth my while no one else is worth my while were you like that all the time ? did you repeat this from 9 to 9 ? never come back never come back you put a hole in and opened up my heart put me down in my darkest dark we used to laugh we used to laugh " then we have the editors songs that got chosen for the darkness. arnauld was doing his best to get fanni to beg for forgiveness. the bitterness was felt constantly. ' liffey ' on the other hand is arnauld's realization that he's not in charge of himself or the situation. he is absolutely ruined and she holds far too much power — it's not just arnauld who knows secrets and ways to manipulate the other, fanni's just as capable !
ACT III: WHEN I LOSE MY HEAD, I LOSE MY SPINE
018. COOL ABOUT IT --- BOYGENIUS. 019. LUCKY FOR YOU --- NOVO AMOR, GIA MARGARET. 020. I MISS YOU, I'M SORRY --- GRACIE ABRAMS. 021. DAYDREAMS --- EXES. 022. SEABED --- NANNA. 023. LATE NIGHT TALKS --- DEPORTEES. 024. HEAVENLY --- CIGARETTES AFTER SEX 025. HOPELESS WANDERER --- MUMFORD & SONS. 026. THAT'S WHEN ( TV ) --- TAYLOR SWIFT.
this part is about their healing journey. when the mind games stopped. when it was just two people. a fairly wholesome part in their story. they had affection for one another and perhaps for the first time they did not have some role to play. it was just friendship ( or at least as platonic a relationship as it could be between these two ). some codependency issues existed, of course. fanni needed a shoulder. arnauld liked being needed by her. ' late night talks ' is possibly the most spot on song in part iii. in it we get: " the phone rings / in the middle of the night / i can tell you're upset / i'm here / and i'm ready to work ". ' seabed ' is incredibly touching too and probably our favourite track. it's a good peek into fanni's fragile state of mind. " and you caught me off guard, and / i was never lonely / but now i'm feeling like an only child / let me sink into you arms / you're the ocean floor / i guess i just needed that ". the songs in this section are vulnerable and beautiful. ' lucky for you ' has a line that made it earn its spot: " and i'm not what i thought i would be without you ".
ACT IV: I'VE OUTGROWN THE PAST
027. I WANT YOU --- MO. 028. YOU'RE SO COOL --- NICOLE DOLLANGANGER. 029. LIGHTS CHANGING COLOR --- STARS. 030. LIVING ROOM, NY --- LAURA STEVENSON. 031. SIGNAL FIRE --- SNOW PATROL. 032. BLOODCLOT / ANDVAKA --- NANNA. 033. CRACK THE SHUTTERS --- SNOW PATROL. 033. SEND FOR ME --- THE NATIONAL. 034. THIS LAND IS MINE --- DIDO. 035. THIS LOVE (TV) --- TAYLOR SWIFT. 036. I WILL FOLLOW YOU INTO THE DARK --- MIYA FOLICK. 037. COSMIC LOVE --- FLORENCE + THE MACHINE. 038. SHALLOWS --- DAUGHTER.
this is the happily-ever-after part because they've been so sad for such a long time. we seriously considered not having them end up together but they deserve each other <3 <3 this section has love songs but we managed to sprinkle a few darker ones too because fanni and arnauld have never been simple and sweet. ' this love ' is probably the stand out song, it seems so fitting ! i mean c'mon: " this love is alive back from the dead / these hands had to let it go free, and / this love came back to me ". not to make things too cheesy though we have ' lights changing color ', which is by no means a negative song but it's more about staying out of one's head and, well, happy ! " when you find that the ones that keep you lifted / love them 'cause they keep you out of your head / they keep you out of your head / they keep you steady ". the songs are quite mellow and sound pretty fragile in a sense, save for a few tracks. the last two songs are more abstract. ' cosmic love ' is possibly one of the most beautiful songs on this playlist and to ever exist. i can see their devotion to each other growing into something blinding. this maybe relates to fanni more, she seems more likely to make love and her life with arnauld the only thing she surrounds herself with. there's just that and nothing else. but... arnauld is not too far from this state. he'll be able to reason with himself and he has his duties, but considering how recklessly he acts all things fanni... " i took the stars from my eyes and then i made a map / and knew that somehow i could find my way back / then i heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too / so i stayed in the darkness with you... " the playlist ends with ' shallows ' because it was so serene. serene and hauntingly beautiful. it's a sister-song to ' i will follow you into the dark '. when one parts from this world, will the other come find them when it's time ?

I loved your ranking of Jane! She gets way too much hat. Tbh I like her way more than Kenny
Thanks anon, glad you enjoyed the post!
But yes, I agree. I think Jane gets too much hate and I believe it comes from a misunderstanding of her character, as well as a lot of bias set in Kenny's favor.
Believe me, I understand a lot of the criticism with her character and I don't fault anyone for disliking her. To each their own, y'know?
I find her compelling and way more likeable than Kenny, and while I stand by the Wellington ending being the best outcome for Clementine and AJ, I loathe that you only get it by going with Kenny. Personally, if forced to throw out the Wellington ending, Jane is Clementine's best option as far as S2's ending goes...
...We don't talk about ANF Jane. ANF is forever on my shitlist for what it did to Jane. You ever want to study a great example of writers fully misunderstanding a character then writing a total character assassination? Then look at Jane in ANF.
But anyway, Jane isn't heartless and she actually listens to Clementine when she chews her out and tries to improve, something Kenny just... doesn't do, no matter how many times he says he will be better. Actions speak louder than words, my guy.
One example I can give comes with Arvo. Jane will threaten him with a gun and suggest they take his stuff, that she doesn't care about his supposed sick sister, all that... no matter the outcome, Jane shows remorse for her actions and questions how she got to the point of threatening a kid like Arvo, someone clearly powerless against her and in a position to be taken advantage of.
Then you have Kenny who treats Arvo as a personal punching bag and never once does he feel remorse. Kenny just treats him as an outlet for his rage, nothing more. Arvo isn't even a person to him. Hell, he cares more about going after Arvo and beating his ass than he does if Clementine falls through the ice while trying to save Luke.
You know who pulls Clementine out of the icy water? Not Kenny. Jane does, and she's the only one in a huge panic about her freezing to death, running around looking for a way to start a fire and what is Kenny doing? Right, beating Arvo again.
That's just one example. Also, to touch on the topic of Sarah, because I know that's a big thing for people who dislike Jane which fair enough, I get that. I don't have time to give a full analysis, but Jane's backstory is a huge part of why she tells Clementine that Sarah's going to bring her down. Sarah isn't in good shape after Carlos is killed, and you can't just pretend that she didn't endanger them when she refused to move. It makes sense why she doesn't, and it's incredibly tragic, but Jane can see as an outside observer with no attachment to Sarah that if they stay here, they're all going to die. So, either Clementine forces her to move, abandons her, or dies with her.
There are plenty of flaws with how Sarah is portrayed and handled in S2, again I don't have the time to give a full analysis, but Jane is gentle no matter what Clementine decides to do, save her or leave her. She doesn't chew Clementine out, she doesn't say, "I told you so." Jane explains her story with her sister, and the Sarah situation clearly triggered that trauma for her.
Again, soooo easy for people who hate Jane to be like "see?? she left her sister to die?? Jane bad, she want Sarah dead too," but that's just purposely ignoring the nuance and grey of the situation so you can think easy. And no, Jane doesn't want Sarah to die, that's just a straight up lie.
When Sarah is trapped, Jane will put aside her beliefs and safety to help Sarah when Clementine asks her to. It's not Jane's fault Sarah died. Maybe if she hadn't been hit with that plank of wood, she could've gotten to her faster. Maybe she would've died because Sarah was such in a state of panic that she would've brought her down, too. Y'know that drowning metaphor-- a drowning person will almost always pull you down, is it worth sinking with them? all that.
I want to make it clear that this isn't Sarah's fault. She's a victim here, both in the situation and in the games writing. Jane knows this, too. She's sincere in her apology to Clementine, and seeing Sarah die is yet another trigger that causes her to leave.
There's so much about Jane's character that I could get into, and I plan on it at some point. Like I said in my tier list, Jane is a great character and I'm tired of pretending she's not.

as someone who rewatches 2001 aso every couple of years to get my mind blown, please do go unhinged in talking about the dirkjake au. that is SUCH a cool idea.
AHHHH okay so . there's a lot here because it is important to me to keep the integrity of both properties as intact as i can while still achieving what i want to creatively (worth mentioning that this is based on a mixture of 2001aso's novel as well as the film). this is very fun for me though because i love doing exposition and worldbuilding. its worth mentioning that i have changed a lot of things as well, and quite drastically. this is for The Vision. okay. the point here is for me to put two things together and create a third entirely different project.
first things first, jane takes the role of heywood floyd. she used to be a very famous and celebrated astronaut (who did work alongside jake) but she retired to go back to her roots in baking. she's still a very trusted and respected name and since she was born into political wealth, she's the person they call to come take a look at the tma-1. (tma-1 isnt a monolith in this au; im changing it to a spiral shaped object for this)
jake takes the role of dave bowman. he got passed down his grandma's tech business after she died and he's spent a good part of his life shifting its gears to space travel. so skaianet makes its own spaceships and shit now. jake juggles his skainet responsibilities with being a storied and celebrated astronaut. hes the captain of the ship (golgotha) and hes told that the mission is to explore a moon of a far off planet called abraxas.
dirk takes the role of frank poole but he's a little more special because he's the guy who created the AR unit (Heehoo hal9000 joke). dirk is a supergenius who raised himself after his bro died in a filmmaking accident. AR started as a scan of his brain and he ended up just dedicating a chunk of his life to creating a Perfect AI. mad scientist vibes but he is casually fucking insane. we're going to crazy places with dirk in this au.
roxy is gonna be their mission control contact, but jake is well acquainted with her through skaianet and dirk is an estranged childhood friend who lost contact with her. we're going to jakeroxy best friends places with this one guys. Oh yeah.
im going to get really into exploring dirk's relationship with his splinters as well as into jake's Everything. i want this to be a kind of abstract character study exercise. i can't really say too much about the AR but he's an integral part of this (obviously) in ways i am only beginning to put on paper. i dont know if im ever gonna post any of it anywhere but i Have started on the fic. this is also a major tldr but if you have questions about more specific things i could absolutely get into it LOL i have a lot of thoughts and things to say.

Caroline, you have great taste. Pretty please, can I have some book recs?
I like romance, fantasy, sci-fi, anything! Frankly, genre isn’t as important as having the Caroline stamp of approval. Please, I am dying out here in the book dessert.
oh my dear darling anon you are the sweetest person EVER to say that to me <3
honestly i am kind of ALSO dying in the book desert!! i've read fair amount of books this year, but i haven't read that many that i would consider really *great* -- i've read some that i thought were fine (and some that i thought were really awful) but honestly it's SO difficult to find books that are really GOOD (though that said it's also probably because i've been mostly trying to get a grasp on contemporary fiction because i feel like that was a huge gap in my literature brain after college, and what i'm learning is that a lot of contemporary fiction is kind of... not great.) ALL OF THAT SAID though i am happy to talk about some good books i have read recently!!
the last book i read that i thought was truly amazing was why be happy when you could be normal? by jeanette winterson -- it was the kind of book that made me want to turn myself inside out and scream into a void for like three hours (i mean that as the highest compliment). it was a book that made me feel like YES!! THIS IS WHY WE DO IT!! THIS IS WHY WE READ AND WRITE AND TELL STORIES YES!! it's winterson's personal memoir and i thought it was just so well-written and incredible to read. i have a lot of her books on my reading list and i can't wait to read more of her work!!
another book i read recently that had me straight up sobbing by the end was the travelling cat chronicles by hiro arikawa -- i saw someone describe this book as "like reading a studio ghibli movie" and i thought it did feel like that in many ways!! fair warning it was super sad and i literally had to put it down because i could not read it through my tears, but it was cathartic and poignant and beautiful all at once and i really liked it
in my quest to get away from contemporary fiction i also read rebecca by daphne du maurier because it is my grandma's favorite book and she lent me a copy of it. and well... it is really a flawless book. i mean plenty has already been said about rebecca so there isn't much i have to add and i guess it's sort of a basic recommendation, but it really is a good book haha
a contemporary debut novel i read that i thought was pretty good was the margot affair by sanaë lemione -- i was at the library and i just happened to grab this book off the shelf, and i thought it was a really interesting piece. as far as contemporary literary fiction goes, i thought it was actually really well done. the plot was interesting and engaging, i thought the characters had dimension, and the prose was nice to read as well
i also just read the book cultish by amanda montell and i thought it was a great read. i posted a few quotes on here that i really liked and i found it to be really illuminating and thought provoking. the end was a little meh to me but the first like 75% of the book was genuinely amazing and i think that anyone who is like, alive in the world should read it, because it has some really fantastic insight into cults, language, and influence. it prompted me to re-examine a lot of things in my own life and past -- and i think it was a fruitful exercise and i wish more people would do the same.
some other books i've recommended before but that i do genuinely love (most of which i read in college) would be: homegoing by yaa gyasi, there there by tommy orange, a visit from the goon squad by jennifer egan (side note i just found out that she released a sequel to this book and i have it on hold at the library and i'm very excited to read it), emma by jane austen (the best book ever written), and anything by louise erdrich (my personal favorite is the plague of doves). and if you want to peek inside my brain it's always good to read more shakespeare, though honestly it's probably better to see shakespeare done live. (random side note, i recently got to see the play teenage dick and i thought it was one of the best modern shakespeare adaptions i've seen in a LONG TIME. maybe ever.)
my ya recommendations are the same as always... the hunger games, percy jackson, anne of green gables, howl's moving castle. same with my classics recs: emma, les miserables, great expectations. there are plenty more i can think of but those are my top books of all time :P all of those are books i have read and reread countless times and they never get old.
well hopefully that was even a little bit helpful and perhaps i will have even more new recommendations soon! and as always please send any book recs my way as well -- i love hearing what you guys are reading and i'm always on the hunt for new things to read!!! <3 <3 sending all my loveeeeee :)

Not So Empty Nest (Super Sim Update)
With the revelation that the 3-level part-time careers don't count as "careers" for the children/grandchildren requirement of Stella's Successful Lineage aspiration, I figured the only way I'm getting one of the kids to the top of their career is if they move back in with the parents. Originally, I said I was going to do this with Cade, but when I loaded into the Bailey-Moon household to have Kinsley quit her job (because, c'mon, how embarrassing would it be for the wife of a B-lister to (a) work (b) as a barista?), I realized it made more sense - from a story prospective - for her to be the one to move home:
Kinsley and Orange had a very high romance bar, but their friendship bar really wasn't that high - I'm guessing it was probably at whatever the minimum is to propose/get married. Kinsley was also only 8 days into being a Young Adult, and already has an infant; I don't remember Orange's exact number of days, but I think he was pretty close to half-way through already. So I imagine: Kinsley, as a teen, is infatuated with the celebrity teen who happens to be friends with her older brother; they get together on a whim, because Kinsley is from a good (wealthy), drama-free family and would be a good mom... they get married like the second she becomes an adult, and immediately have the next generation of Bailey-Moon nepo baby. But Orange, at this point, has probably outgrown the fascination with impressing a young girl, who he doesn't even really know (low friendship bar), and who is having her own struggle with not really knowing how to be a mom, especially in a family like the Bailey-Moons. The perfect recipe for disaster and divorce, leading to Kinsley moving back home, without Preston (because (a) I'm not doing that and (b) you know the Bailey-Moons would go to whatever lengths to protect/control their heir. That doesn't mean we won't see him in the future, though).
Tumblr media
She's gonna miss that view, though.
I like to think that her poor experience isn't going to waste, though -- I put her in the Public Relations branch of the Social Media career (because she has no desire for fame or celebrity herself as an Internet Personality, after what she's been through - plus, you know the Bailey-Moons probably made her sign a nondisclosure agreement). She was able to start at level 3, and I think she's up to level 5 already. So she should max it out in no time.
Ever heard the (actually terrible) advice, "the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else"? Well, Kinsley has:
Tumblr media
Yes, yes, I did some cheaty stuff with aging - look, I had hoped Stella might get with Kyle at some point looong ago, but I never saw him or got a stayover pop-up from him. I actually thought maybe the game didn't populate him in this save or something... but he just appeared at the spa that Stella has been frequenting! So I cheated his age down to match Kinsley's, and had Stella introduce them. Is this a healthy relationship? Not likely, although Kyle did autonomously propose (sort of - it was a "found a ring in Kyle's bag" pop-up, which is super weird considering Kinsley lives in my household too), so I guess he's all in... or he sees this as a way to secure a really good (lucrative) future for himself. Poor Kinsley - her dad set an impossible standard for her to find a good man. (Although, we can't forget that Dexter was married to Jane when he met/started dating/proposed to Stella, so he's not so perfect.)
Now, an update on the actual Super Sim - grandchild #4 has arrived, and Stella has completed the Big Happy Family aspiration!
Tumblr media
Meet Matthew Townsend, son of Cade and Luna and brother to Sawyer. You might be asking yourself, why are they being introduced on the beach in Windenburg? Good question. An even better question is, why does the game drop infants waaaaaaay far away from the home lot when you load in?
Tumblr media
Anyway, I haven't accomplished much else with Stella. The Spa Day aspirations are hard! I did finish the Zen Guru one, but the other two are going to take forever... earning 5,000 simoleons when half the time the yoga/meditation class glitches and I can't even get her tend a massage table/chair. Ugh. I have a feeling I might end up cheating them done, just to be done with them because it's going to be so repetitive.

imaginary dinner party
I'm still mulling over the idea of people you admire enough to want to emulate them, and still curious why it's so hard for me to come up with a list! I'm still falling on the side of being at the point in life where I'm more interested in being my fullest authentic self, as opposed to someone else. But I can't help but think that an inventory of people I admire is still something worthwhile to contemplate. So I shifted the thought exercise to the proverbial imaginary dinner party: who would I want to break bread and chat it up with, so I could be immersed in their collective awesomeness and be inspired to be my best self? So here goes...
CATE BLANCHETT
Yes, I think I'd still put her on my list. Part of it is that I had the pleasure of meeting her during my grad school tenure. It was part of a talk she and her husband gave when they were doing Hedda Gabler at BAM. She just struck me as the "real deal" -- a genuine creative genius at her craft, impeccable in her commitment, thoughtful, intelligent, curious and low-key in that Australian way but not falsely humble. And just a genuinely nice, engaging person who was also down-to-earth, unpretentious and clearly connected to her husband and children in a way that was real and warm. (She is also as stunningly luminous in real life as she is onscreen.) Seeing her trajectory since then, still giving amazing performances and still challenging herself as a performer and actress in her middle age, is inspiring. She's lauded for her style and glamour, but honestly, it comes very secondary to her craft and art and loved ones, and that's admirable.
JANE GOODALL
This is another veteran from my previous lists, I guess. But I've long admired how Goodall's initial curiosity about the animal kingdom has widened into a genuine legacy of nature, education and conservation. I like how her vision of conservation includes the role of people at its core, and how part of conservation means lifting people out of poverty so that they don't have to strip nature of its resources to live. Sometimes environmentalism can feel devoid of compassion for humanity, weirdly, but Goodall is so matter-of-fact, practical and yet visionary in her approach. As I get older, I really admire practicality as a virtue, because it gets things done. I'd almost say it was Yankee-like, except that Jane is British, of course. And she really leads her life from principle, which I also admire. It gives her simplicity as a person and in her bearing a real visionary quality -- she's here to serve her message.
CHRISTINA TOSI
This one came after watching her episode on Chef's Table and then reading more about her. She has a goofiness in her approach to food, rooted as it is in nostalgia, happiness and innocence. And yet, when you delve into it, you realize that she's a genius technically, and really understands the art of baking and cooking -- she just doesn't make a huge show of it. It makes you appreciate how innovative she truly is, and how creative her "crack pie" is. She is also a masterful entrepreneur, ambitious and committed to social values. Underneath that sunny, happy demeanor is a steely core of solid values and innovative creativity, and I love that she practices her art with such unpretentious joy and unabashed commitment to entertainment. I also admire, more and more, people who have a spirit of the democratic in them -- people who aren't elitist snobs, who want art to reach everyone, who think quality shouldn't be reduced to those who can afford it. Christina's craft as a baker and chef seems to reflect this, and I admire that.
BJORK
After mulling over this, I think I truly do admire Bjork, even if my reactions to her music go up and down, depending on the album. She was actually the first famous person I ever saw when I first moved to NYC in 1997. I was in Soho, it was summer and she was scurrying down the street carrying a portfolio of what looked to be sheet music. She was wearing a long purple skirt and a purple top that was almost peasant-y, and she had her hair up in space buns. She also looked very preoccupied and stressed out. I remember at the time that she was very critical of feminism, and that was a bit of a damper on my enthusiasm for her. But as I mentioned, listening to her podcast series was very inspiring and illuminating, as well as a lovely document on how people change and evolve while keeping the core of who they are. To see an artist like her maintain her curiosity about music and its creative possibilities was wonderful. And also to hear her espouse her values of community, self-reliance, connection, matriarchy and talk about everything from parenting to romantic love to nature -- she truly lives her values as well as she can. I would be too intimidated by her to be friends, but I still would love to have a conversation with her in a cafe over some delicious Icelandic soup!
SHARON HORGAN (& MINDY KALING AND NORA EPHRON)
I was trying to think of a writer -- since I'm a writer! -- to include on this list. But I couldn't think of a contemporary novelist, maybe because I'm not so impressed with a lot of contemporary fiction. (It's not that it's bad, but I don't find it sticks in my memory and guts. But that's another post.) But when I expanded my thinking to writing beyond fiction, the landscape suddenly exploded with possibilities, because there are so many great female TV showrunners and show creators. (Mindy Kaling! Phoebe Waller Bridge! Liz Meriwether! Shonda Rhimes! Tina Fey! Issa Rae!) TV series are the new novels, no? I was trying to think of someone who had a recognizable voice through all her projects, someone funny, smart and masterful at the craft -- but also a real human being dealing with family, midlife, the whole nine yards of it. And also a mother, because I really just love to talk to other mothers, even at an imaginary dinner party. Then I watched Bad Sisters and voila: Sharon Horgan! I've loved nearly all her shows for their unvarnished womanhood, and she's done the range from the lost 20s to early motherhood and marriage and I loved her take on matriarchy in Bad Sisters. And she's such a great writer and performer, and obviously a hard worker. I'd love to meet her and talk with her about it all.
Upon reflection, I'd probably also include Mindy Kaling, too, just as a woman of color and a creative, as well as a leader. That's the thing about showrunners that particularly interests me -- they're in leadership positions, in addition to being writers, and they work both as solo producers but in intense collaboration in a business that is intense and competitive and not for the faint of heart. I would love to hear about that balance as well.
Of course, the spiritual foremother of TV creators and writers like Sharon Horgan and Mindy Kaling is someone like Nora Ephron, and I too would love for her to come to my imaginary dinner party. So yes, let's include her as well!
MICHELLE OBAMA
This is SUCH a cliche, I know. But honestly when I read her books, hear her on interviews or listen to her podcast, I just want to know her. Her perspective is so compassionate, sensible, smart and wise, and she's such an accomplished person on her own. When I hear her voice, both on the page and in my speakers, I just want her to be my mentor. Who wouldn't want to be mentored by her? She's like the ultimate older sister. When I think upon a problem in my life, an issue, a question or even just a tangle in my brain that I want to straighten out, I imagine the advice I'd give myself in her warm, empathetic voice, and it makes it so much more doable.
The ironic thing about this list is: these aren't women I'd necessarily emulate in that young person dewy-eyed way. But I want to learn from them and be inspired by them. And I could see myself at this dinner party, too, talking about the process of writing, raising a young son both as a partner and then a single mother and then not, juggling a partnership, making art, making a life, trying to have hope during a time of planetary crises. And we'd laugh and drink wine and talk, and all go home to our fabulous, full, creatively challenging lives and homes, feeling that lovely buzz that happens when women get together.

I started playing rdr2 but stopped because like idk but I can't seem to get over the fact that all the women are prostitutes and they don't really have any important roles. Like what's Abigail do? Ooh she's a mother who's always mad? What do the other women do? Oooh they sleep with the gang. What's Sadie do? Oooh she becomes a badly written femme fetale who suddenly becomes a flawless killer. The women are just so badly represented.
I get the feeling you didn't play the game naturally or see any random encounters, because none of what you said is true. There's a lot to unpack here, so let's start with the "all the women are prostitutes" comment.
First of all, none of the women are prostitutes, a fact that deeply irritates Micah. During a coach robbery where he rides with Arthur and Bill, he even says, “Why the hell do we need a gaggle of girls who won’t even fuck you if you put a gun to their head? Is it too much to ask considering they get a piece of every damn dollar I bring in?” Poor baby. He even tries to proposition all of the women (Grimshaw included), but they all insult him and send him running with his tail between his legs. It’s hilarious and I love it. Arthur also responds to Micah with, “Everyone does their share. I don’t see you lifting a finger around camp.”
Now a bit about the girls:
Tumblr media
Mary-Beth was a skilled pickpocket, but she ended up being caught by a group of her victims. She mentions this during a conversation with Arthur, where she points out how hard it was for women who came from nothing, and the inequality of it all. RDR2 actually regularly highlights how difficult frontier/outlaw life was for women back then, often pulling zero punches. While fleeing her pursuers, Mary-Beth luckily ran into Hosea, who helped her escape and welcomed her to the gang. You can see Dutch lusting after her a few times, because he's an old pervert, but she always shuns his advances. She was never a prostitute and she was actually underage when she joined.
Tumblr media
Tilly was a child outlaw and a member of the Forman gang from the age of twelve. She ended up killing the leader's cousin because he [as is heavily implied] tried to rape her. She was around sixteen at the time and tried to return to her mother after the ordeal, but she unfortunately passed away while Tilly was running with the Formans. Out of options, she eventually joined the van der Linde gang after Dutch saved her from some unspecified trouble. You can find most of this out during one of my favourite side missions, where she gets kidnapped by Anthony Foreman in retaliation for killing his cousin. With Grimshaw’s help, you can rescue Tilly and put an end to it once and for all. She was never a prostitute and was also underage when taken in.
Tumblr media
Susan Grimshaw was one of the original members of the gang and one of Dutch's first lovers. They parted amicably and both fell in love with other people (Dutch with Annabelle, and Susan with a doctor who sadly ended up dying), but she stayed with the gang because of their mutual respect for each other. She later became the arbiter of the camp and a kind of surrogate mother to Arthur, John, and the other girls. She was never a prostitute, but rather a rough-and-tumble outlaw.
Tumblr media
Karen is a little more complicated. Overall, she was a scam artist (Hosea even called her an “actress”) who sometimes lured men into brothels, then stole from them or picked their brains for leads. That doesn't necessarily mean she was a prostitute; however, it just means she used sex as a manipulation tactic. Out of all the women in the group, she was the freest and most unconventional. She also stood on guard duty and participated in heists. The only man she ever slept with in game was Sean, and his death absolutely devastated her. If you talk to her or observe her interactions, you also discover she’s a raging alcoholic suffering from some very deep-seated issues. She likely did have to do things she wasn’t proud of in order to survive, but in my opinion that makes her one of the most realistic members of the group. She was never described as a prostitute.
Tumblr media
Molly was an aristocrat who left her family to be with Dutch. His abusive treatment eventually led her to suffer an identity crisis, where she ended up hysterical and heartbroken. Her story is sad, but she was never a prostitute. If anything, Molly is the best example we have that Dutch views people as items, not human beings.
Tumblr media
Abigail is the only prostitute in the game, but by the events of RDR2 she's an ex-prostitute. To say she's nothing more than "a mother who's always mad", I feel, does her character a great disservice. First of all, she left that profession behind to raise her son, to give him a decent chance in life. Unlike John, she stepped up immediately to become a responsible adult. I don't think people realise how impressive that is because, one, she could've easily abandoned Jack at the roadside (which was common back then), two, she could've induced an abortion, and three, she was quite young when she had him; around nineteen years old.
Tumblr media
You say the women are "poorly represented", but they're stronger, smarter, and more mature than most of the men. A few of them even become self-sufficient in the turn of the century, something dear old Dutch couldn't even do/accept. Abigail in particular helps Sadie mourn her husband and the two grow very close. Their interactions are both grounded and heartwarming, with Abigail telling Sadie she’ll suffer the loss of her husband, but that it’ll get better if she keeps on living. She takes care of her, and Sadie later returns that kindness. These women are so full of quirks and humour and personality, I don’t know how you missed it.
Tumblr media
As for Sadie ... where do I even begin? Badly written? Femme fatale? Flawless killer? Sadie is one of the best written characters. She's not flawless, she's exceptionally flawed, temperamental, and traumatised. It's never expressly stated, but it's implied at several points throughout the game that she was repeatedly assaulted while the O'Driscolls kept her captive. At first, she's petrified and miserable, to the point that all she does is cry and express suicidal ideation. Then, she gets angry. Very angry. Having nothing left to live for, her home and husband torn from her grasp, she throws herself headfirst into danger, which almost gets her killed on a number of occasions.
Tumblr media
She's not a "flawless killer", she's a messy killer. She's not an expert death-dealer, and that's made evident from the start -- but she was a hunter who shared the workload with her husband, so it's not as if her skills just magically appeared. You do see how much it weighs on her, however, near the end of chapter six. If you help her kill the rest of the O'Driscolls, she laments what she's become because she thinks her husband would be horrified. She’s extremely complex and struggles between mourning and moving on.
Tumblr media
I also can't help but laugh at the "femme fatale" accusation, because Sadie actually defeminises herself, which is understandable considering the hell she’s suffered. She even wears men's clothing, which wasn't illegal [anymore] back then, but it was openly frowned upon. Femme fatales use their beauty and sexuality to their advantage, ensnaring men with their feminine wiles. Sadie never does that and fights side-by-side with the boys. Interestingly enough, that's partially why Calamity Jane, an actual historical figure, garnered so much attention, because of how she behaved/dressed. It’s pretty clear to me that Rockstar might’ve used her as inspiration for Sadie. This was a real woman who lived from 1852 to 1903.
Tumblr media
In addition, Sadie plays one of the most important roles, yet she does so without falling into the category of a Mary-Sue. She saves the gang and moves them to a new location when the Pinkertons attack Shady Belle. She hatches the plan that frees John from prison. She helps Arthur rescue Abigail after she gets kidnapped. She tracks down Micah and puts an end to his reign of terror. But most of what she does she accomplishes with a partner--Arthur or John--both of whom she respects immensely. No one, not even Arthur, does everything alone, and when they do there’s usually negative consequences. It's the camaraderie and shared experiences that make these characters successful, and aside from Charles and Hosea, I’d even argue that the women are more well-rounded and fleshed out than the men.
I gather from for comments that you didn't finish the game, so I hate to spoil it, but I kind of have to if you walked away with this mindset. The women of RDR2 are a force to be reckoned with.

Back in December 2016, during a sleepover, my friends and I decided to watch EXO's Chanyeol's most recent movie, "So I Married an Anti-Fan". It effortlessly became one of my favourite movies, so much so that I rewatch it —at least— once a year.
Therefore, when it was first announced that South Korea was going to produce a drama based on the same story, I was thrilled. The feeling only increased when I found out that the male lead was Choi Tae-Joon, whom I loved because of Suspicious Partner. Later (to be more precise, this year), I discovered that the other lead was the one and only Sooyoung from SNSD!
The drama was filmed back in 2018, and it was supposed to air a loooot sooner, but it had a few problems and it finally came out this year. Since I don't like waiting for episodes to come out each week, I waited until it finished airing to watch it... And, today, I finished it!
So, here's my review, fresh out the oven!
· · ·
So I Married an Anti-Fan is a 2021 South Korean drama, featuring Choi Tae-Joon, Choi Sooyoung, Hwang Chansung and Han Ji-Ahn. It's based on the novel "그래서 나는 안티팬과 결혼했다" (So I Married an Anti-Fan), written by Kim Eun Jun and published in 2010.
youtube
· · ·
♡ PLOT:
The story revolves around Hoo Joon (Tae-Joon), a well-known idol, and Geun Young (Sooyoung), a magazine reporter. They meet during an event, where a series of misunderstandings leads them to have a bad impression of each other.
For this reason, when Geun Young loses her job, she's under the impression that it was Hoo Joon's doing and is therefore keen on "reveal" Joon's real character. However, her retaliation backfires, and she attracts a lot of attention as his "anti-fan".
Later, a TV producer approaches them both to star in a reality show. Geun Young and Hoo Joon accept and think to give each other a hard time on set. But, as time goes by, they get to know each other better and better.
· · ·
♡ EPISODES:
It's made up of 16 episodes, running for an hour each (i.e., your typical k-drama).
· · ·
♡ CHARACTERS:
-Geun Young (FL): She's the best character, hands down (I swear I'm not being biased because I love Sooyoung).
For some reason, I've seen a lot of bad comments about this character. I don't truly understand why some people said that she didn't stand up for herself or that she was so-so, when she dealt really well with everything that had happened to her. I'd like to see all those people in her shoes—I bet they'd have cracked up quickly.
Also, she's like the least toxic character I've ever come across in a drama. She waits patiently for Joon to deal with his problems and doesn't jump to conclusions regarding his relationship with In Hyeong and Jae Joon. She lets him do his thing, is an independent woman, and tries to be as little of a burden as she can to the people she cares about. So, props to her!
▫ ▫ ▫
-Hoo Joon (ML): Although I overall liked his character, I admit that if I hadn't previously watched the movie, I'd probably be wary of him at the beginning. But, don't worry: as the story progresses, you get to know him better. He's patient and thinks of other people's feelings and well-being a lot (sometimes, a little too much for his own good, but he's a good boy).
I felt the need to include that there was this one scene where he acts... In a way that I didn't find appealing. Fortunately, he isn't like that all throughout the drama. Also, he isn't toxic like a lot of the male leads in drama-land. If you're wondering which scene I'm referring to, here's a spoiler: *SPOILER ALERT* When he and Geun Young start dating, they are requested to film an advertisement together. In the filming, he acts all "jealous" because the dress she was wearing was too short for his liking. I'm sorry, but she's the only one who has a say on how short a dress she's wearing is—not you, not even if you're her partner *END OF SPOILER ALERT*.
▫ ▫ ▫
-JJ/Jae Joon (SML): Jae Joon is the second male lead, and he was portrayed by 2PM's Chansung.
I'm sorry, but I never could come to terms with this character, not even during the last episodes. If the writers' intention was for me to hate him, they (and Chansung's acting) totally achieved that purpose.
He is incredibly selfish and keeps this attitude up to episode 13/14. Towards the ending, the story tries that the audience feels some sympathy towards him—it is shown why he acted the way he did. Nevertheless, in my opinion, while his past may explain his actions, it doesn't justify any of them. That's why I couldn't bring myself to feel sympathetic or empathetic towards him. *SPOILER ALERT* In fact, I think Hoo Joon was too nice to be there for him in the last two or three episodes. *END OF SPOILER ALERT*
He's also outright abusive. *SPOILER ALERT* I mean, he slapped In Hyeong and broke her laptop ¿?... Even though I didn't like her that much, nothing justifies that kind of violent behaviour. *END OF SPOILER ALERT*
▫ ▫ ▫
-In Hyeong (SFL): She's the second female lead, portrayed by actress Han Ji-Ahn.
Oh, man. I had a hard time trying to wrap my head around this character. I was just going to say that I couldn't stand her because she was always purposely putting a spanner in the works, making everyone's life difficult.
However, as I was drafting this review, I began reflecting on the character and felt sympathy for her. She was in a vulnerable place—leaving aside that she felt abandoned by her first love, she had trouble trying to make her career take off, and she was in a really abusive relationship. It could be argued that JJ and In Hyeon were both toxic to each other, but it was clear that he was the one with the upper hand (he was the CEO of her new agency, which brings a real disbalance of power).
Moreover, it was hinted several times that all she went through took a toll on her mental health (*SPOILER ALERT* she was always taking pills to calm down, and she freaking tried to kill herself!!!!!!! *END OF SPOILER ALERT*). I believe she needed professional help to put herself back together, so she could let go of her past and finally leave that abusive relationship.
· · ·
♡ COUPLES:
Since this drama mostly gravitates towards romantic relationships, I'm including this section.
▫ ▫ ▫
-Geun Young x Hoo Joon: They are your typical enemies to lovers.
In the beginning, their relationship was tainted by a lot of misunderstandings, which led them to hate each other's guts (but, where's the charm in a k-drama that isn't filled with misunderstandings, am I right?). Once they started to spend more time together, they began understanding each other better. In time, they were able to leave their pride aside and got rid of their prejudices (yes, the story gives Jane Austen-ish vibes, so much so that "Pride and Prejudice" is mentioned a few times).
Their chemistry was alright. I would have changed some parts of the script that made a lot of scenes to be super cringey—especially, before some of their kisses (like, what a way to ruin such an awaited moment!).
The thing I liked the most about them was that neither of them was toxic, and they knew how and when to give the other person space. They were sweet, but not unbearable sweet—just the exact amount.
▫ ▫ ▫
-In Hyeong x Jae Joon: I don't know if they can be considered a true couple, but I'm adding them here just to repeat that I HATED THEM TOGETHER.
· · ·
♡ SOME PERSONAL INTERPRETATIONS AND THOUGHTS:
For me, the story tries to show the two sides of the same coin: things that may seem completely different, but are essentially the same. You can see it with Hoo Joon/Geun Young, their friends, and even with Hoo Joon/Jae Joon. Of course, this could be argued—it is just my personal impression.
Also, while the drama condemns some of the toxic fan behaviour, it sometimes romanticises it. *SPOILER ALERT* one fan freaking kidnapped him, and everything was suddenly alright ¿¿ Nuh-uh *END OF SPOILER ALERT*
· · ·
♡ DRAMA VS. MOVIE:
As I mentioned above, there's a prior Chinese movie from 2016 that was based on this novel. It features EXO's Chanyeol, Yuan Shan Shan, SNSD's Seohyun, and Jian Chao.
For obvious reasons, the story is shrunk down in the movie. There are a lot of things that weren't included in the movie, other things were overly simplified, and some stuff was missing and/or changed.
If you want to have a good laugh, then I recommend you to watch the movie. It's filled with non-sensical comedy that, in my opinion, China excels at. However, if you are more inclined towards drama, then the South Korean version is the one for you (you'll laugh, too, don't worry).
· · ·
♡ SUMMARY:
This is, basically, a sweet enemies-to-lovers, famous-person-and-normal-person story. If you like any of those troupes, then you're in for a treat.
It's a really lighthearted story that will make you laugh. Don't expect a complicated plot because there won't be one. It's ideal to have a break from all those dramas where you can't miss a single detail because you'll get lost, or from those dramas which plots are so heavy they end up tiring your mind out.
I loved the cast, and their acting was great (especially Chansung's, because he made me hate his character with a passion, lmao).
ALSO, if you like Sung Hoon (My Secret Romance, Oh My Venus) like me, then WATCH THIS DRAMA, lol. He has a guest role in some episodes!
· · ·
So I Married an Anti-Fan is available on VIKI!

If you read the whole review, thank you very much! I hope you liked it.

I just want someone to talk about GBBO with, even though idk if you can answer all the questions for it (are there ship wars in GBBO?😂) -hope you’re having a nice night! 😊
B, we can ALWAYS discuss GBBO. I am 100% here for that. And I have thoughts.
my favorite female character contestant: Nadiya from series 6. She is my queen. I love how she was such an underdog at the beginning and overcame it to win. She's the only contestant I've ever rooted for who's actually won. And now she has her own cooking and baking shows! 😭💜 (And you best believe I've tried her recipes and loved them.) ALSO, I really loved Briony from series 9. She was my early favorite to win and I was legitimately furious when she didn't make it to the final.
Tumblr media
my favorite male character contestant: *looks at Richard from series 5, Tamal from series 6, and Selasi from series 7* I literally can't choose between them. Richard should have won his series. He was the obvious favorite going into the final, but the pressure obviously got to him. I was so upset when he messed up the signature and the technical because I knew there was no coming back from that. Tamal's personality was so endearing. And he was so good at what he did! If Nadiya couldn't win, I would've wanted him to win. That final showstopper?!?!?! WOW. And Selasi was just so calm and his friendship with Benjamina was one of the most wholesome, heartwarming things I'd ever seen on the show. He was so steady. I would've loved to see him in the final.
my favorite book/season/etc: Series 6. Hands down. There were a lot of good bakers in that season and I still consider it the strongest final they've ever had. (Plus, Mary, Mel, and Sue were still around.)
Tumblr media
my favorite episode: It's so hard to pick one episode out of all of them, so I'm going to pick a theme instead. And I've gotta go with cake weeks. I love seeing that baseline get established. For something so basic, people really do get onto the show and mess it up because of nerves. (Also, I love seeing all the cakes that are...informal. They make me laugh. But don't get me started on how Dorret managed to make it through cake week in series 6 when she literally made something the judges described as rubber and which didn't taste good. AND THEN SHE MADE IT THROUGH BISCUIT WEEK?! I don't get it.)
my favorite cast member: Noel Fielding. He's added such a chaotic element to the show and even though I miss Mel and Sue, I really just love him so much.
Tumblr media
my favorite ship: everyone x all the innuendos
a character contestant I’d die defending: Kimberley from series 4. I wanted her to win so bad. And, look, I know everything she did in the final was flawed, but she was doing well up until then. I'm really salty that they get to the final and just disregard everything contestants have done up until that point. Because they'll literally go from week to week and say, "Yes. There's a trend. This person has been doing terribly. It's time for them to go." Then they get to the final and just throw that out the window! Which leads me to the next thing...
a character many contestants I just can’t sympathize with: Frances from series 4. How many times did they have to remind Frances that she was choosing style over substance? HOW MANY TIMES? She should have never made it to the final let alone won it! I also found Nancy from series 5 absolutely insufferable because she could never admit when she'd messed up. Ian from series 6 really bugged me. There's just something about him and I can't put my finger on it. Candice from series 7 irritated me and I'm still mad that she won because I think Jane and Andrew were much stronger bakers.
a character contestant I grew to love: Alice from series 10. I want to be her best friend.
my anti otp: Paul Hollywood x handshakes. I'm over it. And I hate how everyone always wants to impress him when Mary (or Prue) is always standing right there with him. Everything is about Paul. Shut up, Paul.
Tumblr media
And those are my trash opinions on GBBO. I hope we can still be friends, B. 💜
Ask me about a thing I'm into!

Last week you mentioned GPG has really serious problems. Could you tell me more about them? I can't find much of anything online.
first, thanks for your patience with this appallingly late reply! september hit me like a truck :P
second: huh, wow, okay, a cursory google search really failed to turn up much stuff, huh. depressing!
i'm-a talk about the summer 2019 keyserver attack, not because that's the only issue / security vuln / fuck-up the project has ever had, but because it's (1) a hilariously bad fuck-up, and (2) generally reflective of how the project deals with security concerns, and thus demonstrates that the project is fundamentally pretty unserious
so.
this gist, by one of GnuPG's maintainers, does an okay job of summarizing the problem. a brief summary:
* one of the putative purposes of OpenPGP is to provide a "web of trust" via keyservers. i know Jane Doe, i meet her in person, i verify she is who she says she is, and i sign her key; that signature gets reflected in some keyserver, which acts like a big phone book. now, in the future, if you can't personally go verify Jane Doe's trustworthiness, but you do trust me, you can trust communications from Jane Doe, and you looked all this info up in the keyserver
* "what if a malicious actor tried to overload the keyserver?!?!" e.g. what if i spam ~150k signatures on some dude's key just to fuck with the network
* the answer, in the case of GnuPG, is, "this software is shitty and bad and can't deal with that volume so it just grinds to a fucking halt"
* ...and also most the keyservers try to copy their data from each other so you can have a ~web of trust~ throughout the network, which means, these malicious keys quickly perpetuate through the entire nnetwork
* which means anyone who receives the Forbidden Key Data TM, in practical terms, has broken their fucking GnuPG install, and that whole ~web of trust~ thing we built up is now unusable
technically speaking, this is not a security lapse per se! no cryptography has been broken; no secret data has been leaked. it is, however, a fairly straightforward denial of service attack, and is probably kind of disappointing if you wanted your security software to, you know, do software things
and look, anyone can be bitten by a nasty bug. you'll never see me being like "WOW WHAT DUMBFUCKS, HOW COULD ANYONE WRITE SUCH A STUPID BUG," because, y'know, there but for the grace of god i go, and all that. if anyone tells you they're smart enough to never write a bug, they're a fucking liar.  (my full-time job for a while was literally proving those people liars, and i never fucking failed, not because i am brilliant, but because all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of god. [sorry for all the god stuff; my long-abandoned southern baptist heritage comes through when i'm talking security for some reason])
however! the manner in which you respond to such a vulnerability matters:
* let's say i had discovered this bug in GnuPG. the industry standard, if i'm kind and polite, is: i disclose the bug privately to the maintainers, and they have a 90-day window during which to fix it. if they still haven't fixed the problem at the end of the 90 days, that's fine, that's their prerogative, but *i* also get to announce to the world "hey there's this bad bug, here's how i found it, and here's how to exploit it."
this is done to keep The World In General TM safer. see, i'm just some rando. if *i'm* able to find a bug in your shitty software, then it's guaranteed the NSA or Unit 8200 or some-other-super-secret-government-agency absolutely has the resources and wherewithal to find the same bug. and also, some slimy just-in-it-for-the-money hacker gang probably also has the resources to find it. by telling the company "hey, i will go public with this in 90 days," i'm lighting a fire under their ass to actually fix the problem, rather than just letting them pretend security by obscurity will save them, and if they don't fix it by then, then at least users have a prayer of finding out, hey, these dudes do not take security problems seriously, and making informed choices based on that.
there is some wiggle room in this. for instance, the fuck are cloud vendors supposed to do about something like Spectre/Meltdown? there were some shitty, not-100%-effective mitigations that could be done in software, but fundamentally the only real fix was getting new hardware, and tragically, we cannot redesign, manufacture, and ship brand new CPUs to everybody who might be affected within a 90-day timeframe. ergo, Google Project Zero pushed their disclosure deadline way out on that. but, crucially: they still went public at some point, and Intel did not cry "wah" or "no fair" or anything like that. they worked with researchers as best as they could, and once the cat was out of the bag, they offered public resources to help developers understand how their software might be affected. that's the rules of the game.
compare this to, uh, GnuPG's outrageously shitty response (from the previously-linked gist), which can basically be summarized as:
* "wah ocaml is complicated and we don't know how to maintain our own fucking software wah"
* "ten years [?!?!?!] wasn't enough time for us to fix the problem wah"
* "whoever did this attack is a hater :((((("
which. what. what the actual fuck. those are not actual reasons to not fix your sofwtare.
also, the way in which you present your software matters:
* i've thrown up shitty hobby projects on github before. if someone came to me all earnest with a CVE against them, i'd laugh, append the README to say "yo i threw this together on a weekend while i was buzzed, you should absolutely not be relying on this for anything that matters, xoxo lua." that is 100% fine! advertising THIS SOFTWARE IS NOT NECESSARILY SECURE and thus electing not to give a shit about security problems is fine.
* i've been a part of things that are... somewhere between a hobby project and Real Software TM. e.g., research prototypes that you're hoping will be widely used so you can get a better sense of desired use cases and unexpected constraints, but which you hope will be used primarily by "power users" or others who are interested in that project's specific goals.
such a project may not be able to offer the same kinds of security guarantees as Fancy Corporate Software, and that's fine, so long as they're open and honest about stuff like: what the goals of the project are, what we're sure of and what we're less sure of, how we're vetting our stuff, what our policies are when someone does report a security issue, stuff like that. there's plenty of stuff maintained on a volunteer basis that i'd generally trust because, i expect they'll notify me if there is a serious security concern to be worried about, or they have a long track record of excellence in a narrowly-tailored space, etc. that's all good.
* what you cannot, cannot, cannot do, is: claim to offer some kind of robust security solution to people in actually-precarious situations, and then not actually act like a steward of those person's interests. if you're, oh, telling Venezeulan dissidents "our [shitty hobby] software [with gaping, well-known vulnerabilities that haven't been exploited yet ONLY because no major nation-state entity has felt threatened by our code yet, but if they were so threatened, they could trivially wreck the entire project using a well-documented years-old vulnerability we can't be assed to fix because ocaml is hard i guess] is safe and reliable to use!"
...if you're telling political dissidents that? and then you get over-the-top pissed off at someone pointing out the fucking problem you refuse to fix? and somehow make it all about mememe? then fuck you, sincerely. the threat those dissidents face is not someone breaking the fucking key network. the threat is you, you personally, because you are fucking lying to them about what your software is able to do.
GOD. sorry, just. i reread that link and got so pissed again. fuck that attitude entirely. if you let people down, fucking just sit with that for a bit, okay?  sit and think and do better next time.  christ.
anyway.
this is a particularly gratuitous example of GnuPG maintainers being little shits, but in general they've been lackadaisical and dismissive some other times in the past when people have brought them real security problems, and then act all pissy if, y'know, people go public with said security problems. i haven't kept up with their work lately (i think maybe the community got kind of annihilated by this keyserver thing?) & i have other bones to pick with any project of that type (it's kind of taking the wrong tack entirely imho), but like, yeah, in general if a software community's response to security bugs is "oh gosh that's hard maybe we'll get to it someday," you should not be trusting that software lol

The Lovestruck~Chapter 24
Tumblr media
(22 February)
8:30 pm
Baekhyun stopped his car, infront of your porch and you got out of the car before standing by the car hood and saw Baekhyun walking towards you. He was dressed in a blue sweater and black jeans, with his his hair down hiding his forehead slightly, giving him a soft look.
"Nervous?" You asked him, as he approached you and he nodded. "Can I hold your hand?"
"You don't have to ask." You smiled holding out your hand and he smiled back grabbing it, before interlocking it tightly. You could feel the sweat in his hand and the nervousness on his face.
"Hey, it's gonna be okay, it's just my parents." You brought your hand on the back of his hand and he sighed before leaning against the car hood with you.
"Easy for you to say, since they are your parents." He chuckled, while stroking his thumb over your hand. "I'm meeting my girlfriend's parents for the first time and I want everything to go well. when it's about you, I don't wanna risk it."
"Not me, but us, it's about us." You smiled. "And you don't have to do anything, just be yourself."
He stared at you amazed. "Strange, my mom said the same thing."
"Really?" You asked surprised and he chuckled at your reaction before you both heard your name being called out.
"Y/n!" You looked towards your house and saw your mom walking towards you both and Baekhyun immediately stood up.
"You're finally here!" She looked at Baekhyun before her head tilted in confusion. "Have we met before?"
"You must have seen him at the hospital, he was there too." You stated and she nodded. "Right, we couldn't even introduce eachother in hassle."
You held his hand pulling him by your side."Baekhyun, meet my mom."
"Hello, ma'am." Baekhyun bowed politely, whilst smiling shyly and your mom looked at him with heart eyes.
"Call me Aunty." She smiled. "I finally got to see you, I was really curious about my daughter's boyfriend as she was never interested having one but since Daniel and Ria talked about you a lot, I couldn't wait to see you."
Your mom showed her excitement and you could imagine him giving you a teasing smile as she was about to speak more, you stopped her and mouthed her to lead you both inside. She nodded and you all three started walking towards your house, you were walking between your mom and Baekhyun as he kept holding your hand and you also didn't let go.
Entering your house, you were all seated on your couch with your mom and dad opposite of you. As much as your dad is open-minded and cool person, he put a tough face infront of Baekhyun, since it's about his precious daughter's future.
Your dad kept asking questions, which Baekhyun answered politely and while doing so, you noticed your dad's face which was giving you a positive vibe.
Not long before, Baekhyun excused himself to the washroom, as he went upstairs to Daniel's room, you looked at your parents with a frown and they gave you confused look.
"What are you guys doing?" You narrowed your eyes and your dad shrugged, giving you the look of 'what did I do'.
"Y/n, tell me honestly. Where did you find such a handsome guy? Is he really your boyfriend?" Your mom showered you with questions and you shook your head while dad just rolled his eyes.
"Hold on, how does he know the washroom's way?" Your dad asked confusingly.
"Oh, he's been here before." You replied casually.
"What?! He was here before? You brought a man at home, in your parent's absence?!" You dad whisper-yelled, and about to expload.
Your enlarged your eyes. "What are you saying? Aunt jane was present and so were Daniel and Ria, and do you think I would just let anyone in?"
"Because it was Baekhyun and I trust him so you can too."
While you were telling this to your parents with a hush tone hoping Baekhyun wouldn't hear this but little did you know, Baekhyun was there and he heard everything you said which made his lips stretched in a smile.
Baekhyun entered the living room where your dad looked at him. "Should we have a talk?"
Baekhyun nodded nervously and you frowned as you looked at your dad who looked back at you seriously. "You, young lady, go and help your mom in the kitchen."
You frowned, pouting and were about to speak but you felt Baekhyun's hand slightly patting your forearm as you looked at him where he smiled reassuringly before you walked away in the kitchen.
You looked at your mom nervously. "What's he gonna do?"
She shrugged. "I don't know and don't worry, they won't be having a boxing match inside, so now come and help me with the dishes."
"Mom!"
Back to Baekhyun, who was sitting across him while rubbing his hands nervously before he heard your dad's voice making him sit up straight.
"To be honest with you.." He trailed off as his eyes went towards the kitchen where he got a glimpse of your figure hiding behind the wall making him roll his eyes which caught Baekhyun's attention as he followed his gaze and he bit his lip smiling at your action.
He cleared his throat. "Actually... I was kind of anxious about your relationship because it was surprising since she wasn't fond of dating and suddenly Dan told us about it so... it worried me that what kind of person she's dating and so on."
"But... That doubt slowly got away when I noticed how happy she's been these days and after talking to you, I'm not surprised that she chose you, it's like how I and her mother used to be." He added, with a smile but instantly dropped it as he remembered that he was supposed to act serious.
He sighed. "Y/n.. She's my precious daughter and as her father... I need to be assured if she's in right hands."
Baekhyun licked his lips as he took a deep breath. "As a father, I can't even imagine or understand the love you have for your daughter, maybe not until I become one. Y/n... She's an incredible woman and I know for sure that I am really lucky to have her by my side. "
"I don't know... How to say it in right words but I'll try my best to be the better person for her in every aspect."
Your dad blinked couple of times in surprise and couldn't say anything back as he was just too good with his words but at the same time, it really assured him.
He pushed his glasses up as he asked the question, testing him one last time. "If I don't approve of your relationship then what'll you do?"
Baekhyun gulped nervously. "Well, you are her father and it's understandable for you to do that, but of course I won't give up until you approve, because I can't give up on Y/n."
He looked at him in surprise again before he cleared his throat looking at him seriously. "Just letting you know, if you ever hurt my daughter, I won't spare you."
"Well, Y/n is enough for that." He spoke as a flashback of the beach scene crossed his mind where your smack almost had him kiss the ground.
Your dad laughed making Baekhyun look at him perplexed as he stood up before patting Baekhyun's shoulder. "Good luck with that."
And Baekhyun got it right away, he succeeded.
Meanwhile, you leaned against the wall peeking at them. "I can't hear anything!"
"Seriously, what's taking them so long?" You huffed. "It's not like I'm getting married or something! I think it's my fault for making him watch dramas with me."
Your mom sighed. "You are our one and only daughter and your well being is all we want, so think from your dad's perspective a little."
"Your dad is doing exactly what my dad did to him." She giggled recalling those days and you smiled.
"I like him." She suddenly uttered. "The way he looks at you, just explains everything."
"How does he look at me?"
"That you are the only one in his eyes and you, my daughter are lucky to have that." She said and you smiled. "I know."
All of a sudden, you both heard the sound of laughter filling up in the living room causing you both to walk out with a confused look and there, you saw them laughing at something. Baekhyun's eyes met your curious ones and he did an okay and then thumbs up sign before you both smiled at eachother.
At that moment, Daniel and Jae came back from outside. Daniel instantly walked towards Baekhyun as soon as he spotted him.
Jae approached Baekhyun with a serious face before erupting in a chuckle. "Hey man! We couldn't talk because I was in a hurry but I am not letting you off today. "
And there was that wave of nervousness again and You looked at Baekhyun then back to Jaehyun with a stern look. "Jae."
He snorted at your face as he raised his hands up surrendering. "Okay wonder woman. Chill, I am just kidding."
They both did a hand shake and the males got busy in their talks where your mom walked back in the kitchen while you were pulled back by your dad. "Have you been teaching him literature or something?"
You looked at him confusingly. "What?"
"How is he so good at words?" He asked with a curiosity and you bit your lip smiling. "Really? What did he say?"
"I'm not telling you." He spoke, making a face playfully and you pouted slapping his arm lightly making him do the same to you.
Soon, the dinner was served and as you knew Baekhyun had to wash his hands first, so you led him to the sink and then gave him the towel while your parents watched this sight with a smile.
Settling down at the dining table, your dad cleared his throat taking everyone's attention as he looked at Baekhyun. "I heard you have been here before, so how was it with Y/n's Aunt?"
You looked at Baekhyun's perplex expression and then to your dad as you mouthed. "What are you trying to do?"
He slightly gave a playful nod mouthing back. "Just let me be."
You just closed your eyes feeling bad for your boyfriend and looked at him as you grasped his hand in yours which was resting on his lap making him tightened it as he straightened himself. "Uh.. Well, she is nice.. just hard to get along."
The silence made Baekhyun even more nervous because Daniel and Jaehyun broke out in chuckles as Jaehyun gave him a thumbs up. "That was on point."
Your dad coughed out with a stern look and your mom looked at him. "It's true though."
He rolled his eyes making everyone chuckle as you began to eat dinner with Baekhyun placing the side dish in your food as he always do out of habit which got the attention of your family as your mom lightly squealed at his gesture making Baekhyun blush where he gave her a shy smile while continuing his food.
"Mom," Jaehyun whispered leaning towards her as he pointed towards you both. "Your daughter is being a girl."
She nudged him. "She is a girl, you brat."
As he got back to continue his food, out of nowhere, Daniel placed a side dish in Baekhyun's food making him smile and you smiled at the sight with your parents and you could feel that slowly everyone would take a liking to him and you were sure about that.
After the dinner, you were helping your mom in the kitchen with the dishes while your dad had a important business call to attend where he excused himself to his study room. Daniel had his school work to complete which he didn't wanted to since he wanted to spend time with Baekhyun but after getting the deadly glare from your mom, he didn't find any option but to do it, while Jaehyun and Baekhyun were upstairs, at the rooftop having their own conversation.
Doing the cheers with the can of beer together, they both took their sip while leaning against the swing placed in the middle of the rooftop.
"So..," Jaehyun trailed as Baekhyun looked at him confusingly and a little alert as if this was another question session like he had with your dad while looking at Baekhyun's expression, Jae chuckled. "Don't worry, I'm not my dad so I won't push you with those questions, just wanted to ask... How's it with my sister?"
Baekhyun smiled feeling relieved but soon, it turned wide thinking about you. "Well...I don't really have words to describe her but yeah.. I can say for sure that she's perfect."
Jaehyun gasped dramatically shaking his head. "That kid must have done something to you, right?"
Baekhyun chuckled shaking his head making Jaehyun laugh back. "I know it all. Potato doesn't really hide things from me and I am glad you are that person but still don't hurt her or my inner brother would come out at you."
Baekhyun laughed nodding as Jaehyun laughed back before taking the sip again until a voice caught their attention.
"What are you two talking about?"
There you stood, with your crossed arms wearing a blue hoodie as you made your way towards them, standing in front of them with a question look.
"I was talking about a devil and you appeared." Jaehyun smirked and earned a smack from you with a glare while Baekhyun bit his lip anticipating another show of brother sister before you plopped yourself between them.
"Can I have a sip too?" You asked and both of them instantly stretched their can away from your reach at the same time while shaking their heads making you scoff. "It's just a sip, okay! It's not like I would get drunk!"
Baekhyun shook his head firmly as he looked at you. "You're dangerous when you're drunk."
You frowned confusingly. "You said I didn't do anything."
"You drank?!" A high pitch exclaim from Jaehyun came made you and Baekhyun flinch as you both looked at him to see his shocked face. "You got drunk? And why didn't I know about this? Does dad know?"
"Doesn't she tell you everything?" Baekhyun questioned and Jaehyun glared at you. "I thought she did."
You rolled your eyes. "It wasn't something to brag about though."
"True or else you wouldn't be asking for sip right now." Jaehyun nodded before looking at Baekhyun smirking. "So.. What dangerous things she did?"
"Nothing." You stated and looked at Baekhyun gesturing him to say nothing but he being himself, just smiled smugly and looked at Jaehyun. "She told me about the shopkeeper."
Jaehyun laughed pinching your chin playfully and you slapped his hand away feeling embarrassed until Jaehyun decided to do it more.
"I know a major one, do you want to know?" He asked Baekhyun where he instantly nodded as if it's about you, he would gladly want to know everything about you and he knew for sure that it wouldn't lessen his love for you too.
"Don't!" You exclaimed at Jaehyun before covering Baekhyun's ear while shaking your head with a pleading face which made him chuckle as he took your hand and intervined with your before placing it on his lap while gesturing Jaehyun to continue.
"Okay, so, she was in her elementary school and her hair was really short like really short where half of her classmates thought she was a boy." Jaehyun trailed off to look at your reaction only to laugh seeing your glare as he looked back at Baekhyun who was having fun listening.
"And, then one day, she dressed like a boy to see if anyone's going to recognize her but nothing and everyone thought a boy was transferred to the school." He added laughing at the end before Baekhyun actually began to laugh with him while you leaned your head against the seat thinking what did you actually did to deserve this.
"This is not the end." He stated and you pinched his arm making him hiss and Baekhyun pulled you closer to him before you could murder your brother. "When she went to girls washroom, she was chased away from there because she was dressed as a boy and she herself couldn't go to the boys so in the end, she held it till she got home and cried for hours then next day went wearing a wig."
Both of them were laughing hardly and as much as you liked them laughing, you really didn't liked them right now. Heat rushed up to your face as the embarrassment hit you and made you wore your hood and zip it up till your head was hidden.
"Hey!" They both exclaimed worringly and Jaehyun opened your zipper. "Are you crazy?"
You instantly pulled him in a headlock making him yelp and Baekhyun watched you two smiling. "Just you wait, I am going to spill every inch of your secrets to your girlfriend."
Laughing, Baekhyun took off your arms around Jaehyun's neck, making your back lean against his chest as his hands rested on your wrist. "Okay, I'll help you out with that."
"In the end, you're with this potato." Jaehyun commented making you roll your eyes and Baekhyun to smile as he leaned his head against yours.
"Why didn't you call me too?" You three looked at the voice to see Daniel coming towards you with a pout and a can of coldrink in his hand.
"I want to sit too." He looked at you and you frowned. "There's no space."
"I can make it then." He grinned smugly before sitting on your lap making you yelp and flinch the guys beside you before you hit his back. "Oh My God! Get up, you giant!"
He shook his head making Baekhyun and Jae laugh before you began to tickle his waist making him laugh as he instantly stood up. He pinched your cheek hardly making you yelp and Baekhyun to make him let go immediately.
As soon as he did, you stood up and chased him around the rooftop while Baekhyun and Jae just looked at eachother before leaning back as they took another sip of their beer while enjoying the fun.
"Y/n!"
You stopped as you were called out by your mom and went downstairs, not before pulling Daniel's ear while Daniel went to sit between the boys.
Baekhyun clear his throat and looked at your brothers. "Is it always like this?"
Jaehyun chuckled. "Not really but her reactions are always fun to watch."
Baekhyun chuckled nodding. "I agree."
"But Hyung." Daniel spoke looking at Baekhyun. "Don't think that we are the only one, she has done more pranks on us than you ever can think about."
Baekhyun stared at him surprised. "Really?"
"But still... She's my best sister so take care of her." Daniel said, because as much as he liked to tease you, at the end, he was your brother who is always protective over you.
"That's a given." Baekhyun smiled as three of them did a cheers again before indulging themselves in their boys talk.
Time went by quickly and now you were walking with Baekhyun to his car. As he leaned his back against his car, you stood in front of him with his hand in yours.
"So? Did you like my family?"
He smiled nodding cutely. "You're family is really sweet and I loved being here and as much as they don't show it, they really love you as I have already got three warnings."
You laughed but frowned when he was looking at your cheek. "Hm? Is there something on my face?"
He stared at your cheek worringly. "Why is your cheek so red?"
You palmed your cheek and scrunched your nose feeling a light sting. "Dan that brat pinched my cheek hardly."
"Let me see." He placed his index finger on your chin tilting your face to the side a little before caressing it with thumb and pressed his lips on your cheek.
Your breath hitched and looked at him in surprise to see him already staring at you with a smile making you smile back shyly until something popped into your mind. "But... What did you talked with my dad?"
He raised his eyebrows motioning to come closer with his chin and you smiled expectantly going close to him before he brought his index finger to his lips and whispered. "It's a secret."
"What the hell?" You whined glaring and he gave a smug grin flipping his hair back which seemed to be your favorite thing to see nowadays.
"It a secret between me and my father in law." He said casually playing with your fingers and your eyes widened. "Father in law? Who says?"
"Really? Then who am I?" He asked tilting his head with his eyes boring into yours erupting the butterflies in your stomach.
"Umm... My boyfriend?"
"Did you just stutter?" He snaked his both arms around your waist pulling you closer and you shrugged smiling before his eyes flickered to your lips then back to your eyes as he leaned in.
"Noona! I'm eating your ice-cream!"
You both flinched and pulled away feeling your cheeks burning before your face turned into a horror realizing Daniel's words.
Baekhyun eyed your expression and chuckled shaking his head. "I really have one of a kind girlfriend."
And he was head over heels for her.
You frowned. "What do you mean?"
He kissed your frown away and winked before getting in the car and looked at you smiling. "Good night, My wife."
You stood there stunned and he laughed before driving off before you got out of the trance and a smile crept on your lips then it faded away when you realized something.
"My ice-cream!"

There's a dilemma that you Dany morons don't think about. If Dany is going to be seen as an heir she needs Dorne's support because they have gender equality. Without it Dany is behind Aegon, son of Rhaegar and Stannis, great-grandson of Aegon V. And after that there's even the chance of Robert's bastards being legitimized so she's behind Mya Stone, Bella, Gendry and Edric Storm. Dany has nothing without Dorne. But you idiots can't even acknowledge that she fucked up majorly with Quentyn Martell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right, you asked for a history lesson so you’re gonna get it.
George R. R. Martin has based ASoIaF on a lot of things, but it’s fair to say he has been most heavily influenced by British/ English history. The laws in Westeros are very similar to medieval England, the geography is similar, the Dance of the Dragons is literally The Anarchy (the war of succession between Empress Matilda and King Stephen), the main conflict is based on the Wars of the Roses, etc.
Succession laws in Westeros are one of the things he took from English history, besides Dorne. The main part of this was something called male primogeniture, which he has copied into the series pretty much unchanged. Male primogeniture meant a female member of the dynasty (or, more specifically a dynast’s daughter, i.e. the daughter of the ruling monarch/ head of the family) only inherited if she had no living brothers and her brothers had no living children themselves. After that, older siblings come before younger siblings, etc. Dorne practices absolute primogeniture, where the eldest child of the dynast will inherit, no matter what gender, and they will always come before younger siblings/ anyone from extended branches of the family.
Having educated you on that fact, let’s educate you on your Stannis/ Baratheon claim which is honestly the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. No one has brought this up before cause it’s really that fucking stupid. Stannis has a claim because of Robert, but you, sir, decided to base this on Targaryen lineage, the ruling dynasty for 300 years, so let’s go.
Obviously the daughter of the dynast (Aerys) comes before the great-grandson of the king from 50 years ago. Stannis is at least 3 generations removed from any claim to a Targaryen throne. Even in male primogeniture, the daughter of the dynast will always come before cousins/ uncles/ nephews/ any extended family. It’s why Matilda fought for her claim against her cousin, it’s why Mary I became Queen over Jane Grey and other male relatives, why Elizabeth became Queen over Philip II and Mary Queen of Scots and a bunch of male relatives, it’s why Mary II and Queen Anne both ruled, it’s why William of Orange only became King with the express permission of Anne herself who was the rightful heir. I could go on. I don’t know where this idea that Stannis has a better claim comes from cause it makes no sense. Female or not the child of the ruling monarch comes before extended family. Always. That extended family may contest it because they’re misogynists, but that doesn’t actually weaken the claim itself.
The same goes for Robert’s bastards but even more so as they are illegitimate, meaning they technically have no claim to anything at all until someone legitimises them. And by someone, I mean the monarch. Tommen will never do that and I don’t see any reason why any other claimants would either, unless it’s to put someone in charge of Storm’s End. To use another example, this is why Henry Fitzroy was never considered as a future king even as Henry VIII struggled endlessly for a son and both his daughters’ legitimacy was called into question. He was a bastard. End of story. They have less of a claim than Stannis, and Stannis has basically none. Besides, to make a claim to the throne that is weaker, you need a strong army. Robert’s bastards have none, Stannis is losing more of his every day, meanwhile Dany has the strongest army in the series. She has the strongest claim and the power to back it up.
Now, onto Aegon. Going off the law I’ve just explained, Aegon would come before Dany. There are a few problems in universe, however. For a start, Aegon is likely an imposter, and so would have no claim. See Lambert Simnel and Perkin Warbeck as good examples of this sort of thing. The second is that Aerys (likely) disinherited Rhaegar and his children, passing over him in favour of Viserys as his heir.
When Prince Rhaegar and his new wife chose to take up residence on Dragonstone instead of the Red Keep, rumors flew thick and fast across the Seven Kingdoms. Some claimed that the crown prince was planning to depose his father and seize the Iron Throne for himself, whilst others said that King Aerys meant to disinherit Rhaegar and name Viserys heir in his place. Nor did the birth of King Aerys's first grandchild, a girl named Rhaenys, born on Dragonstone in 280 AC, do aught to reconcile father and son. When Prince Rhaegar returned to the Red Keep to present his daughter to his own mother and father, Queen Rhaella embraced the babe warmly, but King Aerys refused to touch or hold the child and complained that she "smells Dornish." - TWOIAF
Had any whiff of proof come into their hands to show that Prince Rhaegar was conspiring against his father, King Aerys's loyalists would most certainly have used it to bring about the prince's downfall. Indeed, certain of the king's men had even gone so far as to suggest that Aerys should disinherit his "disloyal" son, and name his younger brother heir to the Iron Throne in his stead. Prince Viserys was but seven years of age, and his eventual ascension would certainly mean a regency, wherein they themselves would rule as regents. - TWOIAF
Birds flew and couriers raced to bear word of the victory at the Ruby Ford. When the news reached the Red Keep, it was said that Aerys cursed the Dornish, certain that Lewyn had betrayed Rhaegar. He sent his pregnant queen, Rhaella, and his younger son and new heir, Viserys, away to Dragonstone, but Princess Elia was forced to remain in King's Landing with Rhaegar's children as a hostage against Dorne. - TWOIAF
The last passage is especially damning. If it was simply that Rhaegar died, his children would be next in line to the throne over his brother, as I have explained. But Viserys is clearly stated as Aerys’ “new heir”, meaning he passed over Aegon and Rhaenys, deposing them to put Viserys as next in line. Before anyone says this can’t be done/ doesn’t count, it does. Henry VIII deposed both Mary and Elizabeth after removing their mothers and it was completely valid/ recognised. It’s why people called them both “bastards” throughout their lives. He also had to undo that decree before he died, meaning they were both able to rule after Edward. If Henry himself hadn’t undone it, they never would have ruled. So, Aegon’s status as disinherited will stand, even if he is really Rhaegar’s son. Aegon now has an army, meaning he can back up his weak claim, but so does Dany. And the army doesn’t mean his claim is better, either.
Dany doesn’t need Dorne for her claim, only for extra support when backing up her very valid claim to the throne. As I have just explained to you, Dany is currently the person with the best claim to the throne who is not currently sitting on it. Besides, she didn’t “fuck up” anything with Quentyn. She accepted him into her court graciously and did all she could to keep his support, foster a relationship with him and Doran/ Dorne by extension, shy of calling of her own engagement which would have meant the deaths of all her people. Everything Quentyn did after that was because he wrongly felt he was letting his father down and was his own mistake entirely. None of it is on her.
In summary, Dany has the best claim and the power to back it up, Aegon (might) have second best claim (though it’s highly unlikely, in fact pretty much impossible as he was disinherited) with slightly less power to back it up and Stannis has one of the worst claims without the power to back it up. Hope you enjoyed your history lesson! Read the books next time and you could avoid embarrassing moments like this 😬🤗

Dead End Journey (or not?) - The Witcher
Summary:
When you fall in love with the witcher, things are never going on easy. Jaskier knew it. But what if you fell in love with two witchers? And also met a really gorgeous woman, who you can't get out of your head? It gets even more complicated.
However, maybe… Jaskier even likes all this a little bit. Or not a little? Anyway, time will tell.
Tumblr media
CHAPTER 1
Jaskier was sure that something had gone wrong. Completely wrong. He had never imagined hanging around with a broken heart but there he was. Shattered to pieces. Rejected by his only one.
Actually, Geralt wasn’t his only one in common understanding. Jaskier slept with so many people he could not even count. Men, women… to him that didn’t matter. He was attractive, funny, and good at sex – people loved him for that. But everyone has to stop somewhere. And Jaskier thought he was ready to stop if Geralt was by his side. As a witcher, as a friend… and as a lover.
But his beloved man had always chosen another one. Yennefer. It was really predictable, to be honest, but Jaskier didn’t want to see it. Didn’t want to believe. Yen… she is a bitch. But she is really attractive, hot and good-looking bitch. She treated Geralt like shit and he fell for that. Oh, what a shame. But, maybe, Geralt didn’t want to be loved. Maybe he just wanted to be controlled.
Jaskier was not sure but he actually didn’t want to figure it out. He just wanted to forget but it seemed impossible. So, he decided to just get drunk till he forgets his own name. Really good idea.
This woman… she was beautiful. Blond hair, nice smile, and drunk green eyes – absolutely his type. She wanted him. She really did. So, he let her hit on like he always does. Good sex can never cause a threat, you know.
She treated him well. Jaskier didn’t know why he noticed that but he did. She was gentle and slow, getting sure they both would have their part of pleasure. Usually, Jaskier is in charge in his one-night stands but this time he gave her a chance to take control.
“You didn’t ask my name,” she said, suddenly letting his cock out of her mouth.
“W-what?”
“You didn’t ask my name,” she repeated.
“Oh… I’m… I’m sorry I…”
“Don’t be, dear. I didn’t ask your name either. My name is Jane.”
“Jaskier,” he said after a few seconds, a little bit confused.
“Nice to meet you, Jaskier,” she smiled playfully and continued sucking his dick.
The bard felt confused just for the next few seconds but pleasure made him forget about that pretty fast. It’s not too strange to ask the name of a man whose dick you are sucking at this moment, is it? Everyone did it at least once, right?
Then Jane decided to ride him. He wasn’t against it. She felt… good. Like any pretty woman. She knew exactly what she was doing, and it was really attractive. Sometimes Jaskier loves not to be in charge and just take pleasure given to him by someone else. It was a good way to forget. Not to think about Geralt and Yennefer. And – for god’s sake – not to think about Yen riding Geralt’s cock just like Jane rides his.
The picture went through his mind really fast and it was so disgusting Jaskier almost lost all his sexual arousal. But suddenly Jane kissed him. Gently but with passion. She didn’t kiss him before, they were just having sex, so it was all of a sudden but he liked it.
So Jaskier closed his eyes and imagined Geralt kissing him like that. Kissing while riding his dick. Geralt’s moans with his deep voice… the bard is sure that would sound amazing. Unbelievably perfect. Right.
Picture which went through his mind this time was so bright, so wanted, and inaccessible that it made Jaskier cum really hard. It was literally one of the best orgasms he has ever got. With close eyes, dreaming about impossible… the bard suddenly felt so miserable he felt himself about to cry. Fortunately, he managed to get a grip before he opened his eyes.
Jane smiled, fixed her hair, and got off him.
“Was it… fine?” Jaskier asked when she lied down by his side. He got so distracted with his dreams so he felt unsure if she got her orgasm.
“It was… quite good actually,” she took a cigarette from the bedside table and lit it with a match. “You gave me a chance to be in charge and I highly appreciate it. Most of the men are too afraid of the idea of being dominated. Ugh… boring people.”
“Yeah,” the bard smiled. “They’re just too afraid of losing control.”
“Like everyone, dear.”
They sat in silence for a while.
“So…”, started Jane, while lighting another cigarette, “It’s time to get to know each other better. It should be easier as we had sex already.”
“Is it really necessary?” Jaskier asked.
“Oh, you don’t want to?”
“No! No, I mean… you don’t have to do it just because we had sex. Quite good sex, actually, but it’s not the point. It’s not your duty.”
“Of course, it’s not,” Jane smiled and put a cigarette to her lips, taking a deep breath. “I never do anything I have to. Just the things I want,” she exhaled. “So, can I ask you a question?”
“Sure.”
“How comes such a pretty boy has such a bad taste in women?” Jane asked, making the bard choke on air.
“What do you mean?”
“Exactly what I have said.”
“Wait, I just… don’t understand. I've slept with you and now you're saying I have a bad taste in women?” asked Jaskier feeling confused.
“Yes. Yes, I do” Jane smiled. “You had known me for like two seconds and, when I proposed you sex, you agreed immediately”.
“But you are beautiful! Why should I have said «no»?”
The woman shook her head.
“It's not only about me, you silly bard. It's about every woman you have ever been with. I've heard about it pretty much. Rumors...” she pressed the end of a cigarette to her lips then exhaled. “They spread. Faster than you think.”
“So, you have known who I am when bumped into me in a tavern?”
“Not really. I was aware you look like this famous bard and you have a lute but I didn’t know for sure” Jane shrugged her shoulders. “Not before you said your name. But let’s return to the question I asked.”
“I don’t know what to answer. And what’s so bad about rumors? They make me popular among women... and men”, Jaskier smiled awkwardly. Actually, he didn't want to share his sexuality with his one-night-stand but it seems like he'd already done that.
“Do you think it's for good?”
“Sorry?”
“Being widely known as a good lover, not a good poet”, Jane explained. “Is this what you want? To be just another man who was quite good in bed and that's all?”
“Are you trying to insult me?”
“I'm trying to understand. And somehow prove you have a bad taste in women”, Jane chuckled.
“I do NOT have a bad taste in women. Stop repeating that!” Jaskier exclaimed.
“But it's true. You sleep with every woman who appears on your way. Old or young, virgin or whore... to you it doesn't matter, does it?”
“I think it... doesn't”.
“You are choosing everyone. It's not good taste, I swear".
“What's it then?”
“You should ask yourself, not me. But it seems like it's just... loneliness”.
“Loneliness?” Jaskier asked.
“Yes,” Jane smiled kindly. “It's just loneliness which leads us in beds of strangers. We have sex and then we move on without even remembering their names. We break so many beautiful hearts of people who don't deserve it because ours have already been broken”.
She put the cigarette out and then threw it on the floor.
“We are living in a fucking nightmare”, added Jane quietly. “And destroy every person we touch”.
They both kept quiet for a while. The woman took a new cigarette from the box, stood up, and walked to the fire, giving Jaskier a great view of her naked body. She was beautiful and he couldn't deny it. But also, she was smart.
The bard didn't like to admit it but he always was somehow afraid of smart people. They analyze him. They look deeply into his soul without any permission and reveal secrets he didn't think he had.
“If we have this kind of conversation anyway,” said Jane, forcing Jaskier to look at her again. “Tell me... is there someone who you secretly in love with? Oh... and don't look at me like that, dear. I just wanna understand how many things we have in common”.
“No”, answered the bard immediately.
Jane smiled. “You're terrible liar, Jaskier. At least now.”
“Oh, well... there is someone.”
“Someone who broke your heart but you still love him with all the pieces, I guess”, the woman lighted her cigarette.
“How did you know it's him?”
“I didn't. It was just a guess and you proved it", Jane pressed the end of a cigarette to her lips. “So what is his name?”
“Geralt of Rivia.”
“Is it that man you always sing about? Everyone knows him as a White Wolf or something like that,” the woman asked, slowly returning to bed.
“Yes’.
“Oh, I'm sorry’.
“Why?”
“Because I know this kind of men. They are brave and lovely and beautiful... and absolutely insensitive when it comes to the affairs of the heart. He could accidentally break your heart and still don't know he did it.”
“Are you saying that Geralt doesn't have feelings?” Jaskier chuckled. “It's just a stupid myth about the witchers”.
“No, you didn't get it. I say that Geralt... ugh, I didn't think it would be so hard to talk about,” Jane looked at the bard before she sat at the corner of the bed. “I say that witchers are bad when it comes to feelings. They don't know how to love. They are not emotionless, they are just... inexperienced. I'm not sure it's the right word but still. They don't want to cause hurt. But they make mistakes and break our hearts just because they don't know how to do it right. And it is... the saddest thing I have ever understood.”
“Some witcher also broke your heart, didn't he?”
“Yes. And I thought I was fine until I've found myself hanging around and sleeping with strangers”.
“So, you think there is no chance I will be happy with Geralt?” Jaskier asked and it seemed like a very important question to him.
“Depends on you”.
“How so?”
“If you are ready to teach him how to love and let him break your heart again and again and again with his somehow stupid mistakes... well, maybe you'll have a happily ever after. I don't know.”
“You don't seem happy.”
“I didn't try. I’ve failed before I even started. But you can succeed.”
“You think so?”
Jane smiled kindly. “I'm sure you can. It's about patience... and love probably, but... you won't succeed if you aren't patient enough.”
“Are you still in love?” asked Jaskier after a few minutes of comfortable silence.
“Huh?”
“Are you still in love with your witcher?”
The woman smiled again but there was a pain behind her smile. “I wanna say I'm not but that would be a lie.”
“What's his name? Maybe... maybe I know him.”
She waited for a couple of seconds. “Lambert. He's son of a bitch but I had fallen for him without even noticing. And then it was too late.”
“What happened between you two?” asked Jaskier. Maybe it was quite inappropriate question, but he wanted to know.
“He cheated on me. And then again. And again and... He shattered my heart into pieces and I ended this relationship because I was nearly to end myself. I'm in love with him but he didn't worth my death. I still have some kind of self-respect, you know.”
“He absolutely did not worth your death. You're an amazing woman. You can find someone better.”
“As well as you, dear. But here we are, talking about our broken hearts.”
Jaskier wanted to answer something but he couldn't find any proper words. Because Jane was right and he understood that. They both can find someone who will love them, who will care about them, who won’t break their hearts.
Oh, no, it’s not right. Truth be told, it always was a dead-end journey and they still took it. They chose the most painful path. They made their hearts bleed, all by themselves. And now they have to pay the cost.
Jane took his hand, forcing Jaskier to look at her again. “Does it feel like hell when you think about him?” she asked.
“Yes, it does”.
“Do you like it?”
Jaskier swallowed loudly, “Yes, I do.”

OC LAYERS MEME
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Found this oc meme in the sole survivor tag and liked it for Dolls. These pics were made with ummmmandy’s picrew. If you’d like to do this meme for your ocs, please do and tag me 💕
- LAYER ONE: THE OUTSIDE Name: Dollie Anne Wallace Eye Colour: Hazel Brown Hair Style/Colour: Jet black, curly, prone to frizzing in humidity, keeps it in a bun most of the time and bobby pinned to heck to keep it in place. When it's down it's just past her shoulders. She has swoop bangs. Height: 5'6" Clothing Style: Dollie prefers to wear modest clothing, things that are cozy and comfortable. When she isn't out in the field she loves to wear dresses and heels. In the field she sticks with pants and t-shirts with her bomber jacket or a green flannel. She went into the vault with her pearl earrings and necklace, so she's got those most of the time. Best Physical Feature: Dollie's favorite of her features would be her dimples when she smiles, or her very straight teeth.
- LAYER TWO: THE INSIDE Fears: Letting people down, being a burden, losing the things she's worked so hard for, making mistakes. She's become quite a bit claustrophobic, and she's terrified of radscorpions. Guilty Pleasure: Tabasco sauce. She'll put it on just about anything. (Also a bit of the Bobrov's moonshine once in a blue moon). Biggest Pet Peaves: People that are manipulative, that use other people or endanger other people. She also can't stand chewing sounds. Ambition for the Future: She wants to make the Commonwealth a safer and more stable place for Shaun and for all of the settlers living in it.
- LAYER THREE: THOUGHTS First Thoughts Waking Up: Need. Coffee. What They Think About Most: Finding Shaun, making sure he's safe. What They Think Before Bed: Things will get better soon. She's so close, she's almost there. What They Think Their Best Quality Is: Their determination. Dollie keeps going and she doesn't give up until the job is done (most of the time).
- LAYER FOUR: WHAT'S BETTER? Single or Group Dates: Both have their place and can be enjoyable. To be Loved or Respected: Respected. Respect should be the basis of love. Beauty or Brains: Brains. Intelligence itself if beautiful. Dogs or Cats: She's more of a dog person, but she likes both.
- LAYER FIVE: DO YOU? Lie: She likes to portray herself as someone who doesn't lie, but she does. And she's really quite skilled at it. Believe in Yourself: Whether Dollie believes in herself or not, she believes in the people around her, and she believes in doing what is right and what needs to be done. She often exceeds her own expectations as to what she is capable of, especially in the Wasteland. Believe in Love: Love is, in Dollie's opinion, the most precious thing in the world. It's what keeps the world turning and what can heal some of the damage. Want Someone: She's trying not to think about that (yes, yes so badly).
- LAYER SIX: HAVE YOU EVER? Been on Stage: No. Dollie isn't a fan of being in the spotlight. The closest she's come to being on stage is when she was working as an attorney in a courtroom (or giving a speech at her law school graduation). Done Drugs: She'd rather not get into it. Changed Who You Were to Fit In: She doesn't like to admit it, but there was a time in her life where she worked very hard to be what everyone wanted her to be so that she wouldn't disappoint anyone. She catches herself doing it sometimes.
- LAYER SEVEN: WHAT'S THEIR... Favorite Colour: Green or Orange Favorite Animal: Dollie loves radchickens. They bring her so much happiness. She's also a big fan of radrabbits. Honestly, give her an animal that wants to be pet and won't hurt her and she'll give it some love. Favorite Book: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin Favorite Game: She enjoys playing the games on her pipboy from time to time. Gorgnak & the Ruby Ruins is probably her favorite, mostly because she doesn't have to compete with Maccready on it.
- LAYER EIGHT: AGE DOB: 4/21/2046 How Old Will You Be: When exiting the vault Dollie was 31, give or take 210 years, she's 241 (now 242 in fic). Age You Lost Your Virginity: 15 Does Age Matter: In the sense that people with vastly different ages have a big lack of shared experiences and the younger party can often be taken advantage of, yes. In the sense that you can find love even when you're older, or you can learn and grow and change at any age, definitely not.
- LAYER NINE: FINISH THE SENTENCE I love: Dogmeat. I just think he's neat. I feel: pretty, oh so pretty (Westside Story). I hide: when there's a deathclaw chasing me. I miss: orange juice. Oh, and hot showers. Central air conditioning. Ice cream sundaes. I wish: I had a working car so I didn't have to walk halfway across the Commonwealth every other day.

My Happily Ever After (Part 2 of Cursed Love)
Part Two just as requested!
Jane is kinda mean in this, but like I kinda don't like Carlos x Jane so hahaha. . .
I would love some more requests so please request something! (I have only 1 so please!)
Part 1
Tumblr media
Warnings: Almost death, angst, blood
Summary: You get to read to find out!
Tumblr media
A door was knocked on, once, twice, a third time. Nothing. Silence. The door was knocked on once more, but more rushed. There was a named called, and again. The door was barged open and a scream was emitted from the doorway.
~-~_~-~
There were tears as Harriet sat next to her first mate and closest friend. Her first mate was lying on a bed, fully unconscious. They were in Auradon, crazy right? Not really...
Harriet did all she could to keep (Y/n) alive even if the girl was unconscious. Luckily the day after (Y/n) went unconscious the barrier was opened. Harriet in fear of losing her friend, got help from anyone she could. She found Harry and begged him to help her. So he did.
Harry got help from Mal and Ben. They got Fairy Godmother and explained the situation. FG wasn't sure what to do, this curse was nothing like she's ever seen before.
The door to the room was open and Mal came walking in with FG right behind her, both in a hurry. "I'm sorry Ms. Hook, but we haven't found anything that could help. Right now we are only slowing the erm-- death now... I think it would be best to let her go."
Harriet was angry, "I'm not lettin' her die! She'z all aye got!!!" Mal sighed and thought for a second, "What if we get the person who she is in love with and talk to them about her," Mal snapped her fingers "That could work right?"
Harriet deflated against (Y/n) just holding her hand, "The person she is in love with has someone already. Besides that won't do anything! She has to fall out of love for the curse to leave her." Harriet ran a hand through her hair, "None of that matters anyways because her heart is broken... God I wish this didn't happen," Harriet wiped away her tears.
~-~_~-~
"Hey give that back!" A hand reached for their pirate hat, "Carlos!!!" Carlos laughed at the girl as she pouted and turned away from Carlos.
"Aw (Y/n). C'mon," a shoulder nudged the girls. The pirate turned to Carlos and laughed, he was wearing her pirate hat and was making funny faces. "Forgive me?"
"Always and forever." She rested her head on this shoulder and pulled the hat over his eyes.
~-~_~-~
When Carlos found out (Y/n) had fallen deeply ill he flipped out. He ran straight to her room as soon as Ben said where she was.
"Carlos wait!" Ben called, but it was too late Carlos was not going to lose his best friend and- nevermind that thought. It could never happen. He flew past people and even his friends, nothing would stop him to get to (Y/n).
"Carlos?" Was all he heard as he sped past his girlfriend. Yup nothing would stop him.
Well except the door in front of him and this newfound anxiety. What if (Y/n) wouldn't talk to him? What if she told him to leave? What if she said that she didn't want to see him ever again? What if... Carlos shook his head, no time for those types of thoughts.
The de Vil opened the door and saw her, she looked like an angel as she laid there, but when he took a closer look you could see the sweat on her face and the paleness of her skin. He then noticed she was asleep.
He walked closer and sat on the chair where he supposed Harriet was sitting before he got there.
Even if (Y/n) looked sick, there was still beauty in her. Carlos moved a piece of hair out of her face and sighed. "What happened to you, lass?" He hadn't used that nickname in forever. When (Y/n) first taught him different namecallings that pirates used he immediately used lass for (Y/n). It felt fitting for some reason.
The de Vil grabbed for her hand and sighed, nothing could be done to help her as he was told by Ben.
Suddenly Jane opened the door and looked at Carlos, "Why are you in here and why did you ignore me when I called your name?" She seemed upset.
"I'm sorry Jane, but (Y/n) needs me and she's not doing well! I can't lose her again." Carlos glanced at the priate then turned to look at his girlfriend.
"Lose her? Carlos I'm sure they can help her, why they would want to help a pirate I don't know why," Jane muttered before speaking a bit louder, "I swear Carlos these past few days have been you moping about this pirate girl! Have you heard what she's done to other people? I don't even know why you would even care about her! I mean her father is Davy Jones, isn't that a big enough of a warning sign to leave her?"
Carlos was shocked Jane even said that, but she did and he got angry. He stood up, letting go of her hand as he protected (Y/n) from Jane's verbal attacks, "What the hell Jane? (Y/n) is my friend! She knows practically everything about me and just because she is a pirate doesn't mean anything. (Y/n) can be kind and understanding, when on the Isle she would always be there after my mother would abuse me! So yeah she has hurt people, but that's how people live on the Isle! If you want to live you have to hurt, steal and lie."
Jane was shocked, he never yelled, but she wouldn't back down, "Carlos I am your girlfriend and you still go against me? I am there for you whenever you need me and this is how you treat me?"
"When have you actually been there for me? I try to talk to you about my nightmares and you brush them off as me being dramatic and when your friends talk bad about me you don't even stop them! Girlfriend? Not anymore, go find someone else Jane we are over."
"You cannot do that to me Carlos! You know what, fine, have fun with your dying girlfriend!" Jane then stormed out of the room and slammed the door.
Carlos fell back onto the chair as he ran a hand through his hair. He wanted everything to stop. He wanted to just stop this whole mess. He wanted to back to the time where he and (Y/n) would just make mischief on the Isle. He would do anything to go back to that time were some things were easier than others.
His eyes started to water and he let it all out, tears fell down his freckled cheeks and he just held the pirate's hand once again. Carlos couldn't handle the pain anymore, he missed when it was (Y/n) and him.
For a few minutes Carlos cried, his cheeks red and eyes puffy. (Y/n) seemed to hear him as she slowly woke up. She looked at Carlos and saw him there, broken and it hurt her. She remembered on the Isle when his mother would hurt him and (Y/n) would always help pick up his broken pieces, always fixing him even when he refused her help. This boy meant everything to her and it killed her body, but it was always worth it, to see his eyes light up and smile. To be able to hold his hand when he needed reassurance and hug him when he just wasn't feeling well. To wipe away his tears as he cracks a smile. Everything was so worth doing just for this boy and she would do it a billion times just to see him happy.
(Y/n) forgot about everything in that moment, but Carlos. She shot up from her laying position and grabbed him, hugging him even through the pain.
Carlos was a bit shocked, but he let the hug happen. He enjoyed the warm feeling that (Y/n) gave him including the butterflies in his stomach. They sat there for a while until the girl started coughing.
"Lass? Are you alright?" A coughing fit began and it just wouldn't stop. Carlos looked around and saw a glass of water on the table next to her, he grabbed it and held it in front of her mouth, "Drink this."
(Y/n) held onto his hand that was holding the cup, she took a few gulps of water and some deep breaths. She then looked up at Carlos, his face filled with worry. The pirate gave a small smile and said "I'm okay I guess."
She knew she was already dying so might as well tell him her feelings, right? "Uh Carlos. . . The reason I am sick is because I am in love with you so so much and after finding out about your girlfriend, I was heartbroken and I'm just in love with you beyond belief and I wish we could be together, but my stupid curse has ruined everythi--" (Y/n) was pulled into a kiss, her eyes wide in shock, but she kissed back a second later.
The kiss was slow and very sweet, the two put their hearts into the kiss, making sure every second counted. As the kiss went on they didn't notice the door opening, revealing some friends of the two.
What they also didn't notice is a blue and gold like fairy dust come from where (Y/n)'s heart would be and curl around her and Carlos.
"True love's kiss huh." Was said quietly from the door.
(Y/n) and Carlos pulled away and saw the blue and gold dust, the looked in awe. A voice then was heard and they looked to see a few people, but Fairy Godmother was speaking, "True love's kiss seemed to have broken your curse (Y/n). The curse stopped you from loving without hurting your body, but it seems by someone loving you unconditionally and you loving them back in the same way it was able to break the curse." (Y/n) looked at Carlos and smiled
"Looks like you're stuck with me," (Y/n) said with a laugh
"I wouldn't want my happily ever after any other way." Carlos pulled the girl in for another kiss, happy that he could be with the girl he truly loved.
