ok so um . i think that there are a myriad of interesting ways for them to Meet each other but i think their relationship for the most part stays consistent. i've done a lot of thinking and Rp Writing for this because i am . Insane LOL

at first i just thought they'd have interesting interactions but the more i thought about it the more i realized that they are both a) the Most prey animal of the jigsquad (i count adam by proxy because. he has to be in order for my nefarious deeds to work. but that's a whole other topic i can't get into here lol) and b) the same type of defensive and angry person who is really just terrified at the world around them.

adam's strongest (onscreen) bond is lawrence (altho i am tempted 2 say he is the deepest bond he has. genuinely. lol cant get into that here either tho) and mark's is angelina. both of them are forcefully ripped away from them, and both of them deal w it by turning to Anger. (no one lets adam be fucking mad enough. well enough i say. im here to fix the softboy fandomification of this guy.) i think they could find a good common ground after getting to know each other.

at first i think adam really enjoys trying to poke at hoffman to get reactions, and hoffman is so annoyed but also intrigued because he does Not get this guy. so they treat each other like culture samples in petri dishes for a while. at first its just like smoke breaks or adam (who is actually p adept at engineering after learning some of it) helping mark fix things on his prototypes. they just chat idly or enjoy the silence, and both of them are constantly internally like This Is So Weird But I Actually Kind Of Like Being Around You

i like to think their relationship isn't really romantic but it's not platonic either. if they were NORMAL people it would be a qpr but they're fucking crazy people so it's just a weird situationship. they love and care for each other a LOT a lot a lot. i like to think adam is hoffman's little pet cat and he's always giving him pepper spray and new knives and shit for self defense bc he's incredibly protective of him. i don't think he'd like the idea of lawrence coming around and interacting w adam again because he had to see adam struggle and help him recover from the emotional damage lawrence did to him.

i also think that while adam does round hoffman's sharp edges out just a little, it's much more interesting to explore how mark's influence makes adam More violent (bc hes already predisposed to violence and i think mark could absolutely capitalize on that)

i could say so much more about them adkjfngjkfn but ummmm. to tie this post off have this hoffheight hoffman doodle i did for a warmup last night

edit: oh and i should really mention that they are constantly up and down w each other, those 2 men have such short tempers that they would absolutely fight and argue and yell at each other. theyre explicitly toxic for each other as all saw ships should be. this is necessary.

character opinion bingo on The Healers(TM)

So I have some things here where I did a slash instead of a circle and that’s supposed to be a kind of. It’s worth noting also with some of the more fandom based ones that I have not engaged with the Patho fandom in a couple years beyond occasionally going to look for Block or Aglaya things, so idk the current state of things lol

Dankovsky was my fav back when I was in peak Patho hyperfixation mode, tho it’s definitely faded a lot since then. I find him so fascinating tho, like there is something so compelling about a man trying to defeat Death of all things. The everyone is wrong about him bit is bcs I think a lot of people don’t get him and kind of reduce him to generic twinky smug bastard and like. There is some truth to that but also it’s a massive oversimplification of him, and I feel like he gets wrongly vilified sometimes. It’s only a slash tho bcs a lot of people do really understand his character (I yield to your thoughts on him first always 🫡)

Artemy. My good friend. The projection bit is bcs effectively with his design and him being mixed and part Kin (who are heavily inspired by Buryat people), he’s a whitepassing Asian man, and I’m a whitepassing Asian woman, so I can think about that in a way tied to my own experiences. It’s obviously not completely the same for either of us, but idk, it’s just really fascinating for me to think about for me in terms of how whitepassing-ness and being mixed would impact his experiences there. That’s also where the slash on everyone else is wrong comes from with him bcs aside from the general fandom mischaracterization with him, I feel like a lot of people do not acknowledge him being mixed nearly enough, or they do in a way that relies on racist stereotypes

Clara is so interesting, I think the main thing that keeps me from getting too into her is just how incomplete her route in Classic feels. But that’s also why I’m really excited for her route in 2, bcs I want to see what it and she will be like when able to be more fully realized. The friend’s favorite bit for her is a slash bcs she is not any actual friends’ fav (I don’t really have many friends into Patho lol), but I am in love with Block and he likes her so she is a blorbo/child/whatever by proxy on that front lol

Favorite character

It used to be Raven growing up but Robin (Dick) easily wins the title of my absolute fave

Second favorite character

Honestly? I'm not sure if Raven is even a fave out of the ensemble anymore. I mostly liked her for the aesthetics. (I never finished the later seasons so I can't comment on the depth of her chara and the completeness of her arc.) So, I'm afraid I'm going to actually have to say it's a tie between Red X II and Terra.

Least favorite character

Kitten, the daughter of Killer Moth. She was just bratty but not in an endearing way.

The character I’m most like

You know what? I gave it a think and I've come to the conclusion that I might actually be the Cyborg of my friend groups 💀 I have a big appetite, and I'm usually the one holding down the fort (like Cyborg 's tech maintenance) or coming in clutch with backup (again, with his arsenal of tech). Plus I'm excitable and talkative.

Favorite moment

Idk if I can pin down a specific favourite moment from a series with such a high volume of storybeats - or maybe I'm just not remembering the specifics all that well now. But the one episode I've always enjoyed enough that it stuck with me is the Raven/Starfire bodyswap one. I liked the part where they teach each other to master control of their powers in their swapped bodies. After Raven manages to levitate in Starfire's body according to her instructions to think happy thoughts, Star asks Raven: What were you thinking about? And Raven says something to the effect of: I thought about you being cringefail. Amazing.

Rating out of 10

7.5-8 stars. Because it was a cultural reset and definitely pushed the boundaries of the kind of stories that can be told through the medium of cartoons, but it's not quite legendary like BTAS is. Also, there are some wonky writing / pacing between episodes plus less than stellar animation in the earlier seasons. Still, I'm very fond of it because it really wowed me as a child / preteen.

as someone who rewatches 2001 aso every couple of years to get my mind blown, please do go unhinged in talking about the dirkjake au. that is SUCH a cool idea.

AHHHH okay so . there's a lot here because it is important to me to keep the integrity of both properties as intact as i can while still achieving what i want to creatively (worth mentioning that this is based on a mixture of 2001aso's novel as well as the film). this is very fun for me though because i love doing exposition and worldbuilding. its worth mentioning that i have changed a lot of things as well, and quite drastically. this is for The Vision. okay. the point here is for me to put two things together and create a third entirely different project.

first things first, jane takes the role of heywood floyd. she used to be a very famous and celebrated astronaut (who did work alongside jake) but she retired to go back to her roots in baking. she's still a very trusted and respected name and since she was born into political wealth, she's the person they call to come take a look at the tma-1. (tma-1 isnt a monolith in this au; im changing it to a spiral shaped object for this)

jake takes the role of dave bowman. he got passed down his grandma's tech business after she died and he's spent a good part of his life shifting its gears to space travel. so skaianet makes its own spaceships and shit now. jake juggles his skainet responsibilities with being a storied and celebrated astronaut. hes the captain of the ship (golgotha) and hes told that the mission is to explore a moon of a far off planet called abraxas.

dirk takes the role of frank poole but he's a little more special because he's the guy who created the AR unit (Heehoo hal9000 joke). dirk is a supergenius who raised himself after his bro died in a filmmaking accident. AR started as a scan of his brain and he ended up just dedicating a chunk of his life to creating a Perfect AI. mad scientist vibes but he is casually fucking insane. we're going to crazy places with dirk in this au.

roxy is gonna be their mission control contact, but jake is well acquainted with her through skaianet and dirk is an estranged childhood friend who lost contact with her. we're going to jakeroxy best friends places with this one guys. Oh yeah.

im going to get really into exploring dirk's relationship with his splinters as well as into jake's Everything. i want this to be a kind of abstract character study exercise. i can't really say too much about the AR but he's an integral part of this (obviously) in ways i am only beginning to put on paper. i dont know if im ever gonna post any of it anywhere but i Have started on the fic. this is also a major tldr but if you have questions about more specific things i could absolutely get into it LOL i have a lot of thoughts and things to say.

THANK YOUUUU!!!!

first impression— i was kind of confused about her character when i first watched the couple saw movies; i’d seen some of her prior to watching the movies through fandom/cultural osmosis, and i didn’t really understand how she was both a trap victim AND a perpetrator. i was so naive!!

impression now— one of my favorite characters in the series, and DEFINITELY one of the best-written. i love that we see the moral question of the series (does punitive rehabilitation really work?) play out on a micro scale within amanda’s narrative arc, and i think in many ways she’s the emotional center of the story.

favorite moment— her “fix me, motherfucker” monologue from saw 3 was the first thing that jumped to mind!! SO effective and so sad

idea for a story— after seeing saw x, i’ve thought about writing either a gabriela lives au OR a shotgunshipping fic that takes into account amanda’s history with gabriela!!

unpopular opinion— maybe not the MOST unpopular opinion, but i do think i’m in the minority for thinking that she wasn’t written the best in saw x. her serious scenes were GREAT, but i thought some of her jokes were a bit too excessive and didn’t really sound like something a person would say in 2004.

favorite relationship— aside from the obvious (john), i think her relationships with lynn and jill are both SUPER interesting to think about!!

favorite headcanon— that she’s a trans lesbian. honestly it’s crazy to me that she ISN’T canonically gay, just bc it seems like they’ve so deliberately leaned into that when writing her (especially in the newest movie)

VAMPIRE AU PLEASE SPARE VAMPIRE AU THOUGHTS...

you might have seen my vampire au outline post

but i've since made some new lore regarding the nature of daniil's vampirism! or, well, i call it vampirism because that's the closest thing but really hes just an undying alive guy who needs to eat live meat/drink live blood to sustain himself.

now, about the nature of it! after game events danko comes back to the capital and finds a letter has been sent to him during his absence. it if from yet another smalltown doctor, someone claiming to know the secret of eternal life who is willing to share it with him.

fast forwards somewhat. and the thing that grants immortality is infact an artefact that needs to be surgically implanted within the body of the "vampire". and this small town doctor had it and is choosing to pass it on to daniil as someone who could appreciate it bc he himself is sick of living forever.

however. this is not what daniil was looking for. this is defeating death in a singular instance rather than besting it for good. so while it is good it isn't what he needs. so he turns to trying to study himself with the artefact still inside (cue auto-vivisection).

or at least this is the rough version of it. if (when) i get to writing it ill be sure to smooth the logistics out :D

I think that he always wanted a pet when he was growing up, but he never was allowed to get one. He's so busy with his work at the Thanatica that he doesn't have the time to get one. But I think that after the events of the game, he'd finally end up getting a pet cat

Ok this might just be bcs I'm obsessed with him. But Miguel O'Hara. They're both big into science, and with Miguel specifically being a geneticist, I think that's something that Daniil would also have to know about with thanatology stuff. They are both kind of assholes (affectionate) also
