this is from a while ago but you mention on that poll about armand's love interests you have a few different ways you interpret the blood communion speech armand gives lestat about loving him. i'm curious what your takes are, if you don't mind sharing :) as a daniel/armand shipper, i've always read a lot into the fact daniel isn't name-dropped - as though he's an exception or what they have is something more than just love... though the out of universe explanation is probably just he was forgotten (also apologies if you answered this before and i missed it)

Actually, I know I talk about Lestat and Armand a lot and I've certainly spoken about that scene plenty, but I don't think I've broken down my various interpretations in post form before. I don't mind sharing but remember, you asked! ♥️

I have four basic interpretations, the first of which I use for meta purposes and the others for headcanons/fic as needed.

Interpretation 1: Armand does love Lestat the most. This is the canon read and the one I default to because it's quite literally in the text. I know with VC we tend to selectively 'read between the lines' (I'm guilty as hell), but there's also times where Anne meant exactly what she wrote and I do find it extremely consist with Armand's characterization up to this point.

I'm not saying it's necessarily a healthy love, or even a romantic one though! In my opinion, it's at least in part related to the fact that Lestat's almost always present when Armand's going through some of the most traumatic events in his life (neither of them exhibit anything close to a healthy attachment style). Because these are not two mutually exclusive things, I do tend to read them as having more of an all encompassing, soul-connection type of love. Both can be true.

From 'does anyone else know the size of your soul?' to 'in my wanderings, I always return to you' to 'I have loved you more than any being in all the world whom I’ve ever loved' -- Armand simply does not talk to or about anyone else like this in canon. The depth and intensity of Armand's love for Lestat has been a very persistent thread since TVL through to BC and it seems to be rooted in a genuine passion and appreciation for Lestat's character, flaws and all (because oh boy, can Armand list them all or what?).

I adore them as a ship, but this is not the scene in BC that has me kicking my little legs with glee (honestly, I find it tragic for all involved):

“Fool,” he said again. His voice was roughened now by emotion he couldn’t suppress. “I have always loved you,” he said. “I have loved you more than any being in all the world whom I’ve ever loved. I have loved you more than Louis. I have loved you more even than Marius. And you have never given me your love. I would be your most faithful counselor, if you allowed it. But you don’t. Your eyes pass over me as if I don’t exist. And so they always have.”

“I hate you as much as I have ever loved you,” he said. [...]. I understand the very definition of ‘hate’ when I think of you.” ~ Armand, BC

Like, it's heartbreaking! I don't want this like this! Your ask is related to Armand's POV and I've already posted at length how the text (and Anne) very clearly states that Lestat does, in fact, love Armand very much so I won't get into that further here, but... yeah, yikes. I want better for Armand, I want Louis. 🤧

I'm sad now.

Interpretation 2: Armand does not love Lestat more than Louis, Marius, (or Daniel). This seems to be the more popular read and I totally get why, and I can work with it in theory!

If Armand wanted to shock Lestat back to life and into reacting and doing something about the situation, throwing Louis's and Marius's names around seems like a decent bet. Loving Louis and Marius deeply is something that Lestat can understand, it's something he and Armand have in common; it's yet another thing that bonds them together for better or worse.

Daniel isn't anyone particularly special to Lestat, what would be the point in Armand bringing him up at a time like this? He's a cunning guy, he's choosing his words carefully.

Interpretation 3: Armand's straight up traumatized and broken thinking Marius and Louis are dead and gone, and he's desperately trying to cling to Lestat for dear life because he's the only one he has left (channel Anne and forget about Daniel for a second here). Unfortunately, all their issues that have been festering and compounding since 1791 rear their ugly head and explode rather spectacularly.

What you get is a combination of 'I love you more than anyone; I hate you more than anyone.'

RIP.

Interpretation 4: Armand loves Daniel most of all. And I think I typically tie it into the second one. Yes, Armand loves Daniel more than Lestat, Louis, and Marius. No, he's not going mention him to Lestat for reasons listed above and/or he's not going to downplay his love for Daniel like that. He's a gentleman!

Bonus Interpretation 5: Anne forgot Daniel, plain and simple; I waste years of my life.

All that being said, I don't think Armand walks around with a hierarchy in his head of everyone he loves. He obviously has an abundance of love to give and he loves so fiercely! Pick your read and run with it, I sure do ;)

I think that Geralt is someone that Roche feels a particular sort of kinship with. While it's true that most of the time they work together it's not personal as much as it is having roughly aligning goals, Roche does seem to at least enjoy Geralt's company. Regardless, the relationship is mostly transactional and tends towards being professional.

But I think that there's something in Geralt which Roche is able to identify very strongly with. Childhood abandonment, difficult upbringings, adopting and nurturing young girls in violence bc it's the only way they know how (Geralt with Ciri and in the books, Angoulême, and Roche with Ves and Anaïs.) In the case of Ciri and Anaïs in particular there are quite a few more parallels (last heir to a dying throne, valued for the ability to legitimize a claim to a throne more than who they are) which I think Geralt and Roche would both be at least passively aware of.

Geralt is one of the few people Roche will just drop everything for. He's a friend, and we know Roche views people he's close with strongly. Foltest was a father figure, Ves and the Blue Stripes are his family, etc. I have no doubts Geralt is in there too, in some complicated category which Roche won't ever name.

I was just thinking how a Ketterdam and Gotham crossover/mashup has so many possibilities! I haven't really seen much tho so here are some thoughts.

I picture it as slightly more Gotham, set in the modern (ish) world but also having the political systems and gangs of the Barrel mixed in. The grisha would still have the categories of powers that they do in the grishaverse but less organized, basically considered a subset of meta (my head is currently full of stress so sorry for any and all lore mistakes I make!).

So there's beginning SoC Kaz with the Crows and he hears right away when there's a certain up an coming crime lord in town. Kaz wants to get his revenge on Pekka Rollins but there's the issue of his debt and how many gang leaders don't take him seriously because he's young and walks with a cane. After gathering more info and concocting some convoluted plan that has 43 steps and 15 backups he meets with the Red Hood to see if they can come to a mutually beneficial agreement as Kaz has tabs on pretty much everything in Ketterdam and all the political gang stuff that goes on. He also has PLANS that I'm pretty sure Jason would disrupt and Kaz is gonna do his best to integrate him into those plans while also maybe helping direct him in what he should be doing for optimal takeover.

Like if Kaz has the firepower of the Red Hood to add to his plans? Absolutely terrifying. Ofc there would be interpersonal conflict but that's like half the fun, the character dynamics possibilities are endless! I was thinking that the generally fanon accepted rules that Jason has (I'm more familiar with SoC canon and am more fuzzy on dc details so apologies) like regulating the drug trade, protecting sex workers, etc and strict enforcement of those rules are all things that Kaz wouldn't mind AND if Jason took down Tante Heleen's Menagerie? That would be a great scene for after everyone has started working together and taking over, maybe Jason doesn't know Inej's history but he can probably guess and offers to torture Tante Heleen for her (do I hate Heleen? Yes I do) wether or not he does Tante Heleen won't be conducting her business ever again.

I think that Kaz could definitely spruce up Jason's ten step revenge plot but how idk. For real tho, Kaz's lack of experience is one of the few things holding him back, when he's older? Even just late twenties, it'll be over for everyone lol.

The Barrel seems Crime Alley adjacent so those can be smashed together (would that make Kaz from Metropolis?? Lol but nah probably some farming state)

Omg what if Dick is Inej's brother? Doesn't really fit I think but just an idea. That'd be so freaking sad tho, she's gonna search for her parents and not know they're dead :(

Batman does batman stuff I guess, I didn't really care about him when I was thinking of this crossover but there could be interesting ideas for him. I feel like there's so much going on in Ketterdam/Gotham (Gothdam?lol) that he'd be run ragged and honestly I'd understand him barely putting even a dent in crime there. I'd still have Duke be a meta as opposed to a grisha mostly bc he's closest to a sun summoner and I'm not a fan of the Shadow and Bone books. Damian should definitely have his metal spine, maybe he's a Fabrikator or got that spine put in by one. Steph might be on the very fringes of Crows activity, I really like when her and Jason are besties in fics bc I feel like they have the least amount of baggage/history and have similar backgrounds so its easier if u want to ease him into the batfam one person at a time. Not that I've decided if that's what's happening here but anyways. I'll have more later, ttfn and please take any of this and run with it! Imma tag this thing Gothdam au.

I answered this question in a prior post, but another meta that I'd write is: it's kind of really weird how much the extremely shipping-centric circles do everything to claim that Travis (who has garnered a reputation in the fandom for having a good eye for what romantic relationships are developing) is an idiot and a coward for pursuing the romantic threads he is interested in and for making the romantic choices that he has, or to otherwise invalidate, erase, or ignore the choices he makes for his characters romantically, but then simultaneously construct entire fantasies filled with out-of-context screenshots to "prove" that Travis ships their preferred ship to validate that ship.

Like, it's so weird how much hate Travis gets for his choices in terms of romances or how much many of the shipping communities try to erase or ignore his decisions, and then they so desperately want him to validate or approve of their ships. His decisions and opinion is not valid until you can project one onto him and weaponize it? There's a contradiction here, and it's so weird and transparent, and it's kind of sad and desperate too.

Before anyone says "but it isn't the same people doing both of these", I have very specific sub-communities (this is a thing in multiple shipping circles, btw, it isn't limited to one ship) and individuals in mind. I won't name them, but I know for a fact that a not insignificant number of people absolutely both call Travis a coward or ignore his decisions AND create elaborate fantasies claiming that Travis approves of or is in on The Shipping Agenda for a particular ship.

I am recommending @antiracist-tolkien because the blog has such a good collection of meta and general information. I go weeks sometimes not logging on or scrolling much and I miss so many good posts, so I really appreciate the dedication to running an archive blog of that sort! @tolkien-meta-library fills a similar niche; I'm so paranoid about missing The Definitive Treatise on something or other. I'm also recommending @expertsofarda because if you're not plugged into the silmarillion writers guild discord or don't already have beta readers or mutuals with niche knowledge, this is an excellent place to see who might be able to answer a question of yours. You don't even have to message ppl; just knowing who knows what means tag searching their blog might yield results.

6. Ship or platonic relationship that you got into because of the fans

I think this is a tie between hurin/morwen(/aerin) courtesy of outofangband and idril/tuor/maeglin courtesy of jaz-the-bard! polar opposite pairings, to be sure. The former is because I had no knowledge of the narn and had simply failed to appreciate how cool morwen is (I have since learned the error of my ways). The latter .... tfog was really hard for me to engage with personally for a long time so it was actually really nice to see what the rest of the fandom was up to in terms of putting the puzzle pieces together, deciding what to keep, what to modify, etc. It's about the balancing of it, I think? idril/tuor was not so interesting to me on its own, and idril/maeglin was unbalanced and sad. I think a lot of the ships I'm interested in are some variation of having deep interpersonal conflict but also deep love. shrugs. (I've given maeglin the curufin blorbo treatment - it's the being your father's shadow for me).

Umm I actually really like Maedhros (No one could guess from my AO3 works /sarcasm). I don't think bad takes are super unique to him as a character; greater popularity and greater emotional attachment are positively correlated with woobification, and greater popularity is positively correlated with more takes and thus more bad takes. *snl reaction image* he has everything: pain, killing instinct, self-destructiveness, appeasement, love, hatred, duplicitousness, self-serving nature, hope beyond hope, trans of gender. He's not the only one to have these characteristics, but I also like fucked up and evil men. I can't list any of the other feanorians bc they don't come close for popularity.

But to give a second, evasive, answer: I feel like I do talk about this a fair amount, but it always makes me super nervous to write/post trans porn because ... idk I feel like people treat it like it's extra-perverse or extra-explicit, but like. That's just my life. I am simply just vibing yaknow? Or just, generally explicit fic. Because on the one hand I feel like it's very revealing and I feel weird exposing my sex life to people - not because I feel inhibited but rather that people will maybe find it odd. And on the other, I feel like there's a kind of narrow window past which you go from "freak (appreciative)" to "freak (derogatory)" and that window is vanishingly small for unpopular characters, queer freaks (moi), and kink.

A few days ago I finally took the step to catch up on Natsume Yuujinchou which I haven't read in over ten years.

I watched the first ep when it came out and when I looked it up I realized the 2nd volume was just gonna be released a few days afterwards (don't ask me more, that was almost 15 years ago). Which I bought (well my mom bought me, I was barely 16 and had no money), then procedeed to catch up on the translated chapters (I don't know if it's still the case but back then I think there was something like a 6 chapters/6 months up to 10 chap/months difference between the chapter release in Japan and the fantrad).

I stopped reading around the time my mom died at the end of 2012 bc it was monthly and I already have a hard time keeping up with monthly releases and back then I wasn't in the mood for this kind of waiting.

I also never went past season 2 bc keeping Sasada around wasn't a change I cared for. I didn't really mind but it didn't make things more interesting so it was meh and I didn't care for the OP/ED of s3 (look after s2's opening, s3's OP was disappointing and since I didn't have the curiosity of what will happen next? For the main arcs and I was mostly indifferent to the characters added/reused for fillers ('xcept fox kid) so there wasn't enough to keep me around).

So I thought: why not go back through watching the anime since there are lots of seasons now and a few filler characters won't be too bad. Which I did, and it was...good at first, then nice...

And the more I watched, the weirder some things seemed to be (like Natori, Taki and Tanuma's personalities, or Natsume being weirdly open when I remembered how closed off he was and how opening himself up was harder than that or the weird shippy vibe between Taki and Natsume (or even Taki and Tanuma) which was even weirder because I remembered shipping TanuNatsu because of Tanuma's role as an anchor and the developing trust between them and his role in helping Natsume opening up).

But I thought that maybe I just didn't remember it that well as it has been 10 years since I last read it, but while I started the manga, I also browsed tumblr and I stumbled upon metas explaining how the anime to... Basically stereotypicalize the characters so they'd fit in the cases these characters would normally fit (heroic MC who saves his friends, soft and empathetic girl(friend of the MC), wise big brother who is touched by the younger, more naive MC, and the protective and assertive best friend of the MC who's useless and gets in the way but is still loved).

So 1. I was glad I actually remembered it fairly well, especially since I remembered liking it because of the fact it went about it differently. And especially because human (and yokai) connections were pretty much at the center of the story.

2. I was sad that they basically no homo-ed a story that was so queer I read big metas on how queer-themed it was on several websites both in English AND French back in 2009 (it was a lot harder to find these kinds of métas in french if you weren't already part of queer communities back then). And I'm not talking about TanuNatsu but of everything else. One of the métas I read yesterday showed how heteronormativity literally twisted the themes of the story, the characters, and their development.

3. They tried to have some characters make nice so that they wouldn't be as wary and aggressive towards other characters yet the fact that the author allowed her characters to feel like that toward people who felt hurt by the other's actions and/or beliefs was something that was important to me so I'm glad it wasn't just in my mind

The lov is a found family and tbh I wanted dabi to have a similar yet different conflict with this 2nd family. Somebody died due to the goals and actions of another member. And I had hoped toga would be the natsuo of the bunch bc she had been the closest to twice. Kind of like how natsuo was the closest to touya and most affected by his death. It’s definitely not the same bc abuse was not involved but twice is 100% dead and what led to his death should matter to toga. But hori is plainly cooking something to make dabi toga’s newest ‘big brother’ and I feel like it may have to do with the blood that dabi got for her. I can’t think of what could occur during sad girl parade that would make toga be willing to forgive touya once she finds out the full details about dabi, hawks, and twice.

Yeah, that certainly would have been a more interesting angle then then the one we got.

To be honest I've found how Hori has chosen to handle Twice's death really stupid. It makes sense that Toga would be sad and angry--that's not a problem. But I don't think it was smart to put Toga questioning if Heroes don't see them as people and that's why Hawks killed Twice, especially over the backdrop of Machia rampaging over a city full of people. Nor was it a good idea to have her act like she always does when she confronted Ochako, or be so roundabout when asking her questions.

If this was framed as Toga being wrong/selfish, because clearly she's killed a whole bunch of people, yet it's only now occurred to her that those that get killed leave behind grieving loved ones and is only concerned about her own loss, then that could be interesting. So far though, it's not really been treated like that. Instead Ochako is framed as failing because she didn't understand Toga's cryptic and nonsensical questions, which made her big sad.

And as you pointed out Touya was somewhat responsible for Twice's death. He knew Hawks wasn't trustworthy, but let him go around and do as he pleased, including warming up to Twice. He did this because he was both over confident that he could deal with Hawks, and because despite knowing he had special training by the HPSC, bet on Hawks not using lethal force, even when backed into a corner. He never warned anyone in the LoV, let alone the Meta Liberation Army, which is why they got ambushed that day and lost so many members due to mass arrests and one death. You'd think the group would be pissed about that if they found out.

Plus, Touya did use Twice's death to further his own goals. Sure, some members of the LoV might not care that he exploited Twice's death for his own gain because they could view as a way to help take down Hawks a peg. But it's weird that no one would find it disrespectful that he edited in a very sensitive clip of Twice's last moments into a nation wide broadcast. Nor does anyone really seem to ask him much about what happened.

The way Hori writes the LoV is rather lazy in my opinion. I know a lot of fans think they're written the best, but from what I've read in metas, most of their characterization is based on speculation (and sometimes straight up HC's) rather then concrete scenes. Like most of bnha, it's held together by mostly tell don't show (and sometimes show conflicting actions to statements) writing. People consider them a found family but only some members show genuine care for the others, and besides Toga and Twice, I can't think of any of then that go out of their way to help another member even if it's of no benefit to them or in a way that doesn't a line with what they personally believe/want.

Shiagaraki says he won't destroy what his friends care about but we never actually see him live up to that statement. He's never been asked not to destroy something, and stopped because he wants the LoV to be happy. The groups also never shows any anger when his plans to firmly contradict their own wants. Why is Toga okay with Shigaraki constantly trying to kill Izuku? Does she literally only want his body for necrophlia reasons? He also almost killed Endeavor, who Touya wants to kill himself. Compress wants to help the poor somehow, but Shigaraki doesn't seem to even know about it. They're this found family that just doesn't seem to even talk about their goals what-so-ever. It's kind of flimsy.

Which I suppose is why Hori didn't bother to have Toga be mad at Touya. What would be the point? Touya was always the most distant and that's saying a lot given these people don't seem to talk to each other much at all. It's not like he'd care if she hated him--he wasn't really invested in the LoV anyway (at least in that found family way). It wouldn't add much conflict to the story, unless Hori was going to have Toga potentially switch sides sooner, or go off on her own to get revenge. But that adds in another person to the Todfam plot which is already pretty full of people.

And Hori's wants to finish this manga as fast as possible, so he's not going to add anymore subplots then he needs to. It's a shame but it's a sprint to the finish at this point and so having Touya be nice to Toga and her not be mad at him is easier. I don't really buy the brother/sister thing he seems to want to frame it as, since again it's the only time he's interacted with her in a positive way, but I guess that's all he has time for.

actually i have like strong feelings on this one but it's 100% SSR Randall i'm obsessed with this unit?? like genuinely obsessed in a way that is more than just "he's a blorbo"?

(i got a little long gushing about it but god i love he)

so like, Randall is a blorbo alright, i adore him, his R was one of my early unit so he carried me and i grew to like him from here, i found his FE super endearing, it's been a day one type of thing. (i really wanted to have Feather bc of seiyuu reasons, so when i saw Randall was his bestie and just really wanted to find Feather, i got into a kinship with him right away)

Then i realized Randall was voiced by Wataru Hatano who is not only a seiyuu i adore but legit also a seiyuu i listen to the music of the most (he voices one of my ultimate blorbo in a3 so obviously i was unwell). and Randall went from "R/SR i really have strong feelings for" to "character i'm ride or die for".

When Marionette Stars came out and they teased Wacchan in the gbf radio show, i was vibrating at the idea of Randall getting a SSR. And then the event happened and his SSR was teased and i absolutely lost my marbles. I don't think i ever just CRIED out of realizing a character was going to become an unit. I was shaking and crying so much even my crew was like. ".... for Randall??" while i was like YEAH OF COURSE FOR RANDALL WHO DO YOU TAKE ME FOR.

I didn't have funds at the time to spark so i skipped on his banner, but best boy decided to come in the free pulls a few weeks later, i'll never forget it.

But honestly originally, i didn't really know how to use him, so he was benched for a time. And it made me so insanely sad that i couldn't use him.

I didn't like playing wind at all (the team i had at the time, which was mostly Blorbos, made it difficult to play in general), and i found his kit a little too particular (with his 3rd skill taking a lot of time to charge up)

But a friend saw I was super sad about it and went "that won't do" and found me a couple of teams that would work to solo FA Bennu with Randall. I found a set up that worked wonders, and I kept watching the raid play out, and it's when i realized how actually SUPER GOOD Randall's unit is?

It works better on long fights, but on short fights he still has very good elements. If he's supported by base!Ewiyar in the back, he's unstoppable, unkillable, and ends up carrying the whole team all on his own.

He has high hostility and a high dodge rate and he activates his first skill upon dodging, which not only hits hard, but also gives him 20% CA charge. So if he's targetted regularly and dodges regularly, he charges his CA super fast.

Upon activating his first skill or his CA, he raises his Heel level, and after he reaches 7 heels level, his 3rd skill activates: it resets his other skills, but especially, ends up activating his CA twice EVERY TURN AFTER THAT. like, constantly. This buff is never removed so he constantly has double CA attack.

So basically once he's in a team that 1) gives him the hostility's spotlight, 2) supports his dodging, 3) charges CA real quick (Kengo, Viking, Relic Buster, or Seofon), he's basically a monster who is constantly hitting the enemy, either out of dodging or out of CAs, and since he gets all the hostility and dodging, the whole team is kept safe.

I've noticed before i got Ewiyar (so his dodgerate wasn't perfect) that i could have flawless run of everyone at full health, but if in a RNG, Randall would die, then the whole team would follow literally two rounds later. Ever since i have Ewiyar, everyone remains in the green all the time and the "Randall dying" RNG is so low that any team with Randall survives for a long long period of time.

I'm actually obsessed with the mechanisms of his unit and just how satisfying it is to watch play out. Like, it's genuinely the unit i have the most fun using because i genuinely feel unstoppable. The fact he's one of my ultimate blorbo in the game add a whole other layer to it.

So i kinda have both blorbo and meta in mind with this one but i genuinely just love how this unit works and how happy it makes me. It singlehandedly made me enjoy playing wind.

I bring Randall out with me sometimes in random outings.

Tho tbh most of my random teams are either level up teams (so as long as i have charas to level up i don't have anything else in it - if i have room for chara i don't need to level up, Tien takes priority, but then Percival or Randall come along for the ride), or farming teams (in which case since i take Tien/R!Richard/Earth!De La Fille with me everywhere it leaves me very little room for characters who wouldn't be able to hit the enemy hard). And when i really need to hit hard at once i usually bring out my Light Team since it's pretty good all around the board.

But whenever i can bring Randall out, i do.

He's definitely the unit that makes me the happiest, both in term of blorbo and in term of how it works. My best boy.

I haven't encountered anyone "UwU"-ing Xue Yang in my dash and I'm very grateful for it. Let this man be despicable, heartless, and a disaster. He has everything to apologize for and he won't ever do it. He will kick a baby's stroller and poison the baby formula. He bonds with JGY's torture habits and swap ideas with him. Xue Yang deserved to die and no one should ever resurrect him in metas as "a misunderstood character who did nothing wrong UwU". I basically agree. I also like trash Yang a lot, and Xue Yang stans are definitely rare compared to jc and jgy. Which is great! bc I don't want some weird, sad boi fanon version of him to become pervasive. BUT what Xue Yang stans lack in numbers they make up for in intensity. jc stans are sad and cringe. Xue Yang stans are unstoppable and unhinged. They'll write you a fucking 3431 paragraph post even after you blocked them on several burner accounts- because no you don't care how much they think Song Lan sucked. You will change your name. You'll move to another country. You'll be having tea at a small quaint cafe in the little town where you're currently hiding. things I liked about the 1st episode of the Loki show

bc my other post was salty and I want to balance it out a bit because I did enjoy it so here, have a random list of stuff I liked and that I think can be worked with (fanfic writers I'm begging you. my creativity has died some time back and refuses to return so I can't do it myself)

• love the idea of Loki losing a bet to Thor that leads to committing Midgard Crimes. how the fuck did they get Heimdall to cooperate. the Bifrost snatching Loki up mid-air in free fall. did Odin know of this misuse of his gatekeeper. did Loki talk him into that and Heimdall got in trouble in the end and that's why he doesn't like Loki what's the story here this is amazing. does Loki keep whatever money made it to Asgard in some corner as a trophy. does he buy ice cream with it. is there a list of unsolved mysteries where the solution is simply "Loki" I bet there is

• sneaky sneaky stealing of the collar loop remote thing. and making very good use of it, and annoying Mobius in the process :D

• still holding on to the Tesseract even when it's essentially useless. but who knows what the future brings, right, so better keep the teleportation cube

• anyone else hear Casey say "you're that criminal with the blue box" and think of Doctor Who for a hot second?? time travel, blue box, Doctor sure has been arrested a few times... please tell me I'm not the only one

• I very much enjoyed the vindictive looping of Hunter B-15 (do these people just... not get names. that seems not at all rude and dehumanising. or depersonising idk). and also the fact that there were still tears on his face and going by his expression it brought him about zero joy, which in turn brings me a lot of joy because I love seeing my faves trying to be happy but failing

• speaking of which, have a short list of things that give me the potential to hurt Loki in fun ways:

- I'm still 100% convinced that the falling into the Void thing gave him fall-related trauma, which is great for when he literally gets the floor pulled out under him multiple times in a row in an already uncomfortable af experience

- does the collar loop reset thing... hurt in some way? he's sort of doubling over the second time Hunter B-15 does that when he tries to run off (though he might have just. run into something??), and seems sort of vaguely uncomfortable/in pain after various uses by either Mobius or himself (granted there's the sudden lack of chair when he gets relooped into a sitting position but... look he's also just been Hulk-smashed a few hours ago and I want the loop to hurt, just go with me here)

- he's giving up, returning to Mobius's totally-not-a-murder-chamber, watching his predetermined life, and half a second from full on sobbing right there on screen, sitting alone in a room where everyone who's after him will eventually find him. beautiful. amazing. 100/10 please do it again. and then seeing him on the floor all dejected looking small playing around with the Tesseract, while saying aloud all the stuff that would have gone into meta on Tumblr if he hadn't said it. not sure how in character I find this (I don't, really) but I sure do enjoy hearing and seeing him in that state, so I won't complain.

• last but not least: I've seen one or two posts mentioning how Loki cries at every death he sees but laughs at his own, which. is incredibly sad and breaks my heart BUT I propose a different interpretation: it takes him a while to get to the laughing part after seeing himself die (and I will not get into the bullshit that was his death because that's been done), and I think it's less "hah how fitting of course that's all I'll ever get" but more of a realisation... because he's taken the first step away from that. he's stepped away from that timeline, and yeah that's why he's now in hella trouble, but - it's different trouble. he can make something of that trouble. it's his choice that led him here - Mobius going on about how "oh suuuure your life is all your choice keep telling yourself that" but his presence here, the fact that he's here being lectured about what his life is supposed to be, is proof that it can be changed! Frigga is supposed to die violently due to Dark Elves, but that hasn't happened yet. not to him. she's still alive, Odin and Thor are still alive and well, Loki is still alive, and he's already, unwittingly, taken the first step to ensuring it stays that way, because he's changed something, he's on a different path. just because the TVA says he's destined to die at Thanos's hand doesn't mean he will because he's Loki and he chooses his own goddamn path, Time Keepers and everyone else be damned.

(There's also his line to Mobius near the end, "The TVA is formidable," which to me sounds like the tentative beginnings of a plan might be forming and he's gotta sweet-talk Mobius a bit. who'll be expecting that, I guess, but hey it's a start!)

side note, I cannot believe I'm actively posting so much about this, what the hell.
