santa honey, one little thing i really need
summary: it is a christmas tradition that a different member of the memphis mafia must dress up as santa every year. elvis takes advantage of you not being there when the costume is being handed out to shirk his duty. enter your boyfriend being bullied into it for the second year in a row. fandom: luke bracey | elvis ( 2022 ) rating: t pairing: jerry schilling x gn reader word count: 1319 warning: santa jokes. assumption that the reader is okay with the christian holiday of christmas and playing mx. claus. reader dressing up as mx. claus. brief sexual innuendos and mentions of "being naughty" being punished. use of the nickname kitten. author's note: so consider this a christmas sequel to my kinktober pieces 1 and 2 with jerry. @blurredcolour wanted me to not forget about these two and while i have a fic involving austin and christmas things and a big daddy santa fic in my drafts i also wanted to get this out because i promised her this. i know the gif isn't jerry but it's still luke bracey and i like his dumb face. i used mx. in place of mr. or mrs. and i think that's still the correct term for a gender neutral situation, correct me if i'm wrong though, please. oh! and you don't have to read the kinktober pieces because this stands alone on its own to be honest.
Tumblr media
You'd like the record to show that Elvis should be playing Santa this year. That was the deal everyone made when it came to coming to Graceland every Christmas. Arrangements were always made with everyone's extended family to make it so that Christmas celebrations were always pushed to the day after Christmas so that Elvis could have his entire Mafia around him. His entire family around him. You were never supposed to plan other things for the holidays because every day before Christmas in December were Elvis's days from the second the lights went up in Graceland. Everyone acquiesced to the plan- to his demands but made him agree that every year a different person would play Santa. This year it's supposed to be Elvis and you are vividly aware of this because you're the one who has to keep track of it, since according to Elvis, "you'll keep everyone from lyin' won't ya?" He's not wrong because up until this year, you've done phenomenally at it, made sure that it had cycled between Red, Sonny, Lamar and even Jerry had done it last year. This year was supposed to be Elvis's year and you had made sure he knew that.
And yet somehow, somehow, you find yourself in front of your boyfriend as he is pulling on red pants that he donned last year.
""What are you doing?" You ask, your head tilting as he buttons up the pants, completely ignoring your presence. Something that's rare enough as it is, because he likes to say you're his insatiable kitten, though it's really him who can never keep his hands or his eyes off of you. "Jerry?" Still no answer. "Mr. Schilling?"
Somehow that's what manages to get a response out of him, that's what makes him look up at you his face morphing from one of honest aggravation to one of love and perhaps hope. You had been running late, one final mess before the Christmas season of everyone being closed or too busy with family to deal with the problems that Elvis Presley causes on accident. Jerry figures that's why Elvis took advantage and claimed that it wasn't his turn to dress up though everyone knew the truth. Now that you were here you could rescue him from the get up. You could get him undressed and shove this in Elvis's face so he could enjoy snuggling up with you on the couch, a drink or two in hand as you both watched all the kids in delight.
"Kitten." His hands abandon his task of buttoning up the pants in favor of making a grabbing motion to you, trying to pull you closer. "E bullied me into this, said last year didn't happen. Tried to remind him that you had told him Thanksgiving that he was doing it this year but he just forgot. You can fix this, right? For me? For us?"
You could, technically. You should, technically. However, there is something to be said about how your boyfriend is looking so uncomfortable with just a hint of distress and how it's kind of funny to you. Still, you have to try and act like a good partner, act like someone who is going to rescue their boyfriend from such a horrible predicament. Your face for at least the moment does not betray your amusement.
"I can!" You say, smiling the sweet sort of smile you only give him when he's praising you or when you're trying to charm someone. It's disarming in the worst ways and you know it far too well. "He knows that I can make him do it. He wanted me to enforce that list and we both know I take my job very seriously."
His lips curl into a smirk as he finally manages to pull you closer, placing a soft kiss to your lips. "Very seriously. It's why you're so good at it. Why you're so good to me."
It's then that you lose it, that you finally can't help the giggles that escape as your hands slide down the front of his pants and just casually finish buttoning up the pants. "I could help you. Or I could enjoy another year of you playing Santa."
After all, truth be told, he made a fantastic one, delighting the older and younger kids alike, a feat that you're pretty sure no one else but Elvis could accomplish. Besides, if he was Santa Claus, you could try being Mx. Claus, since you had actually chosen a pretty red get up for the party tonight. You look up at his wide eyes before leaning a little closer and whispering. "Ho ho ho."
Jerry pulls back just a bit, letting his hands drop from your backside, his eyes narrowing at you in annoyance before he appears to have what you think is an epiphany. "Someone might find themselves on the naughty list if they keep laughing and mocking Santa." He pauses, licking his lips and leaning by your ear. "And we know bad kittens don't get all the fun things good kittens do, don't we? Know that they don't get to have any fun."
There is a moment where you truly contemplate if you want to risk the consequences, if you think that it's worth it to just continue on the path you've set out for yourself before you realize that you might as well. After all, being on this Santa's naughty list didn't seem like the worst idea. So you just let out another laugh before saying those infamous words again. "Ho ho ho."
You see Jerry shut his eyes and just take a deep breath before looking at you and realizing he truly has lost this battle hasn't he. "You're not going to help, are you? I'm going to be playing Santa again this year, aren't I?"
"You are, because I'm not in the mood to argue with Elvis tonight. But. You do get to show your favorite Kitten what happens to them when they get put on the naughty list." You pause and point to the outfit that Jerry had yet to notice you put on the bed. "And, you get a Mx. Claus to be your partner tonight. And I know after a few drinks they get a little handsy."
"A little handsy." He laughs a full belly laugh, shaking his head as he does before looking at you and sighing. "Fine. But my partner should know I might have planned on giving them a present-specifically some jewelry- early tonight. Are they okay with waiting for it?"
Your answer of yes is stopped by the realization of what exactly sort of jewelry he might mean considering he looks like he was truly excited to give it to you. It almost makes you want to march down to Elvis and shove the outfit at him before you remember how the tail end of the song Santa Baby goes and figure you'd take a page out of Elvis's book and sing when something is a little too hard for you to say.
"Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing. A ring, I don't mean on the phone. Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight." Your gaze is a little questioning, just to see if you guessed right before you see him smile.
"Hurry up and get dressed then, Kitten. So I can hurry down that chimney tonight." A pause. "You're helping me carry the sack of presents though, EP went a little overboard."
You frown for a moment before nodding. "Only if next year we stuff it even more for when I actually do make him play Santa."
The answering laugh you get makes the kids downstairs think Santa already came and you have to wait a good ten minutes before both of you stop, only managing it once Elvis comes up to see you two clutching at your stomachs.

Fellowship of Fans was back today after a short break with their biggest spoiler they've gotten yet for season 2 and it's all about Calam Lynch's character!!! :D Like always posting behind a cut since it's a huge spoiler but for fellow "Bridgerton" fans it also likely means since his role is a major LOTR book character he likely won't be on the show after season 3 as he'll be busy with this till it ends with season 5. Also still linking to FOF's Twitter but there have been changes with Twitter that most tweets only users can see but they've posted this on their actual website and Instagram too.
Tumblr media
It seems that those fans who speculated when Calam's casting was announced that he was Celeborn were correct!!! :D FOF has gotten confirmation and that he had a chemistry test with Morfydd as part of his audition. They also said that he will have a long, silver wig and his costume colors are a mix of dark blue, silver, and gold. There's speculation too that he might've filmed flashbacks as well as present day scenes to explain where he's been this whole time.
However like I noticed and others did he is not a series regular for season 2 and he only filmed in 2 blocks last fall and then right before filming wrapped in May/June as he had a play he did in London. His status likely will change from recurring to regular for seasons 3-5 but him being recurring and not filming that much likely also means he won't be in that much of season 2 which does make sense since we've already gotten confirmation that season 2 will be a Sauron centric season with most of the story and flashbacks centered on him. But curious how this will play out and if Sauron has had him or more likely that Adar has had Celeborn this whole time.
I'm also a bit surprised as this seemed to be the easiest to guess as Calam does look a lot like Marton Csokas who played Celeborn in the LOTR movies and a lot of us thought they would cast someone who looks different to change things up. I'll admit I thought Celeborn's casting would be kept secret till the end of season 2 to be a major cliffhanger to set up season 3 and that he'd actually be someone more like Sam Heughan or Luke Bracey as I kept picturing him as being blonde haired and blue eyed. And with how young Calam looks, which isn't his fault. LOL But he is also younger than both Morfydd and Charlie.
Also we knew he'd be coming so I'm very curious how this will all play out for the rest of the series. I'm still certain Celebrían hasn't been born yet and it'll happen likely in season 3 or 4 and then they'll do a major time jump so it won't be that weird for her and Elrond's romance to start. Plus, I'm a Haladriel shipper too and I'm hoping the way the writer Celeborn that most of us and the general audience will like him. The chemistry between Morfydd's Galadriel and Charlie's Halbrand/Sauron pretty much set a high bar for the writers and cast to achieve and I really want to like and be torn between who I want Galadriel to be with. That's how a good love triangle should be.
And yes I do think there will be a love triangle. They're not going to change whatever they had planned between Galadriel and Halbrand/Sauron and it does fit with how they are intwined for centuries after these events of the show till the books/movies end. Plus there's a chance this might be a love pentagon as from FOF's earlier spoilers last month that Amelia Kenworthy's unnamed character has a past with Halbrand/Sauron and seems to be now aligned with Adar.
So we have the key players here and I'm excited to see how this plays out, and again I'm a fan of Calam's and excited for him getting this role.

WE'RE GETTING SHIVER!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
EXCLUSIVE: Andy Fickman (One True Loves) is set to direct Shiver, a feature adaptation of the same-name novel by New York Times bestseller Maggie Stiefvater.
Producer Addam Bramich (Russell Crowe’s Poker Face) optioned the book, published by Scholastic in 2009, which is the first in Stiefvater’s globally bestselling series The Wolves of Mercy Falls and spent more than 40 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list. The film will follow Grace, who for years has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf — her wolf — has a chilling presence she can’t seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human… until the cold makes him shift back again. Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It’s her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human — or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.
A writer for the film has not yet been attached. But Bramich will produce alongside Fickman and Betsy Sullenger (You Again, Scout’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) through their Oops Doughnut Productions, with Stiefvater consulting.
“From the first page of Maggie Stiefvater’s novel, I was transported to a vivid, magical and romantic world that I immediately wanted to bring to life,” said Fickman. “These multidimensional characters are grounded in the daily joys and terrors of high school, live in an elevated arena between fantasy and reality, and love across those boundaries and without limits. I’m thrilled to bring this stunning tale of forbidden romance to the screen along with a fresh coat of Minnesota snow.”
“We could not be more thrilled to embark on this journey with the incredibly talented director Andy Fickman, as we bring the adventurous and thrilling world within this story to the big screen,” added Bramich. “With this unique story, and the help of the brilliant author Maggie Stiefvater, it is with great enthusiasm that we begin this exciting collaboration.”
Fickman is an award-winning writer, director and producer whose romantic dramedy One True Loves hits theaters on April 7th. Simu Liu, Phillipa Soo and Luke Bracey star in that pic based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestseller. In conjunction with Village Roadshow, he also recently directed and produced the stage capture of his award-winning show Heathers the Musical, which debuted to acclaim on Roku last September. The stage show is currently selling out at The Other Palace Theatre in London, where it has received several West End noms and other accolades.
Other notable titles helmed by Fickman include Fox’s family comedy Parental Guidance starring Billy Crystal and Bette Midler, DreamWorks’ teen sports rom-com She’s the Man, Paramount’s Playing with Fire starring John Cena, Keegan-Michael Key and John Leguizamo, Disney’s hit films The Game Plan and Race to Witch Mountain, both starring Dwayne Johnson, as well as Disney/Touchstone’s comedy You Again starring Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sigourney Weaver, Betty White and more.
On the television side, Fickman most recently directed and exec produced Netflix’s NASCAR comedy The Crew, starring Kevin James, Freddie Stroma and Sarah Stiles. He previously collaborated with James as director and EP of his Netflix stand-up special Kevin James: Never Don’t Give Up, also directing on Nickelodeon’s No Good Nick, starring Melissa Joan Hart and Sean Astin.
An author of books for all ages, as well as a musician and artist, Stiefvater’s book series The Wolves of Mercy Falls and The Raven Cycle were both #1 New York Times bestsellers. She also previously penned The Scorpio Races, which was named a Michael L. Printz Award Honor Book in 2012.
Fickman is repped by WME, Entertainment 360 and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller; Stiefvater by Angela Cheng Caplan of Cheng Caplan Company, Richard Pine of InkWell Management and VanderKloot Law.

Interceptor Movie Review
Tumblr media
One Army captain must use her years of tactical training and military expertise when a simultaneous coordinated attack threatens the remote missile interceptor station she is in command of.
Interceptor was both written and directed by Matthew Reilly, my favourite Australian author, and so there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to love it. Knowing that he has spent all these years writing action thrillers similar to the kinds of movies he’d like to direct, it was even more amazing getting to watch Interceptor, his first foray into cinema. I initially watched Interceptor on Netflix when it was first released, and watched it again at the cinema a few days later, once I was free from covid isolation. It was just as fun to watch a second time (even more so considering my sister and I had the cinema to ourselves). Knowing all the outcomes didn’t interfere with the suspense, in fact it was great to re-watch my favourite moments and appreciate things we hadn’t noticed before.
In many ways, this is classic Reilly storytelling, with the usual action sequences, twists and turns and some good doses of humour to cut the tension at various intervals. Whilst I enjoyed the plot, I must admit that the twists weren’t as good as his books. This is likely due to the fact that there is less time in a film for him to flesh out the narrative in this way compared to the amount of foreshadowing and careful planning he is usually able to utilise, and also not having to worry about a budget. As much as I enjoyed the dialogue and the cutting remarks from Elsa Pataky’s JJ Collins, the odd line or two did feel a bit off.
There is nothing more quintessentially Reilly than the lone hero who defeats the villain against all odds, and what I especially enjoyed about Interceptor was the relationship between the two of them. Elsa Pataky (JJ Collins) and Luke Bracey (Alexander Kessel) play off each other really well throughout the film, and the movie works precisely because although they are on opposing sides, they have incredible chemistry.
Much of their scenes together are spent conversing through glass, yet these scenes are utterly captivating. For as much as JJ clearly dislikes Alexander and he is evidently frustrated and angry that she is destroying his plans, in some ways he cannot help but admire and respect her. It makes for an intriguing dynamic. That being said, I couldn’t help but be annoyed by some of his monologuing, although in retrospect I can understand that it was partly to put off JJ and the audience, allowing him to be somewhat underestimated. My favourite scene is easily when JJ tapes up the window and Alexander is so obviously agitated.
What I like in my action movies is for there to be decent characterisation, and I very much enjoyed the character dynamics at play. JJ was an interesting character, I also liked Shah and Alexander was a charismatic villain. Interceptor was not quite on the same level for me as a Reilly novel, but was well worth watching.
Warnings: violence, blood & gore, references to sexual assault, racism

Interceptor would have been at least a C if they’d cast someone who can actually act. Or who could at least get the role on merit. Instead of who they’re banging/married to.
I also don’t believe I have to like someone because of who they are banging or they’re married to. I don’t kiss ass for no one, thank you. Not even Chris Hemsworth. Who should have known better than to put this complete and utter nonsense on his resume.
But I digress.
The main character is quite the most boring and unlikable one I’ve come across in a long time. Girl power?  Please.  What an assault to actual girls/women with power.
The dialogue is pure shit.  Cheesy ass one liners that fall flat and could have been written by a 12 year old.
And I’ve heard a lot of bad American accents done by outsiders, but it was like they weren’t even trying.
Most of the action? You can tell it’s fake AF and the blows don’t even land.  Like if you watch WWE on real slowwwww and none of the hits connect.
The plot is completely fucking  ludicrous.   I’ve seen better plots  both written and followed by grade five students.
Perhaps could have been somewhat pulled off by a better lead.  With talent. Someone you could actually buy as a US Army vet.
You know it should have been? Rhonda Rousey.
But I digress there as well.
This was just poorly done ‘John McClane with a vagina.’
Sorry Luke Bracey. Not even you could save this.
If you’re a true fan of action movies like Extraction, the Jason Bourne stuff, Die Hard series even,  stay away from this steaming pile of shit.
Minus 5 out of 5 stars.
Chris Hemsworth I love you, but you should be ashamed for a couple of reasons.

Andrew Garfield in Hacksaw Ridge (Mel Gibson, 2016)
Cast: Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey, Hugo Weaving, Teresa Palmer, Rachel Griffiths, Ryan Corr, Richard Roxburgh, Luke Pegler. Screenplay: Robert Schenkkan, Andrew Knight. Cinematography: Simon Duggan. Production design: Barry Robison. Film editing: John Gilbert. Music: Rupert Gregson-Williams.
Hacksaw Ridge doesn't shy away from biopic or war-movie clichés, it embraces them: There's on the one hand the familiar bullying sergeant, and on the other the typical shy romance. But it succeeds in being a well-made action movie, after spending a little too much time on the shy romance and other bits of Appalachian backgrounding for the character of Desmond Doss, a real person who was both a conscientious objector and a Medal of Honor winner for his heroism as a medic during the Battle of Okinawa. To play Doss, the movie needed the equivalent of a young James Stewart or Gary Cooper, and found him in Andrew Garfield, who received a best actor Oscar nomination. The movie also provided a measure of redemption for its director, Mel Gibson, who had been persona non grata in Hollywood after a 2006 drunk-driving arrest in which he made antisemitic remarks to the arresting officer, a capper on a string of homophobic and extreme right-wing statements he had reportedly made over the years. He was nominated for best director for Hacksaw Ridge, and the film was also up for best picture and for film editing and two sound awards. It won for film editing and sound mixing. Gibson remains something of a problematic figure in the industry, and has yet to find a followup in his would-be comeback. Hacksaw Ridge demonstrates some of his known flaws, such as his violent delight in mayhem and bloodshed, and it's a bit heavy-handed in its endorsement of Doss's simple (not to say simple-minded) faith, but it provides some very old-fashioned movie gratifications.

Whew! I just escaped from Facebook! Because I am beginning to get upset about how my sister keeps overreacting whenever I make a public post. I also hate how everybody else overreacts about my posts! Now I am freeee!
Anyway, so what happened in my life today ... I am struggling to keep up with my university assignments while crushing on Luke Bracey. That is what happened in my life today. Not much happened in my life today.
Now I am late again!

Hacksaw Ridge
"Hacksaw Ridge" is a 2016 war film directed by Mel Gibson, based on the true story of Desmond Doss, a Seventh-day Adventist conscientious objector who served as a combat medic in the U.S. Army during World War II. The film stars Andrew Garfield as Desmond Doss, and tells the story of his remarkable journey from a small-town boy to a war hero.
The movie begins with a glimpse into the childhood of Desmond Doss, a young boy who grows up in a small town in Virginia. His father, a World War I veteran, suffers from PTSD and is an alcoholic, which makes life difficult for Desmond and his family. Despite this, Desmond develops a strong sense of faith and decides to become a medic in the army, even though he refuses to carry a weapon due to his religious beliefs.
The film takes us through Desmond's training as a soldier and his struggles with his fellow soldiers, who initially view him as a coward for refusing to carry a weapon. However, Desmond's determination and his unwavering faith win over his comrades, and they come to respect him for his bravery and selflessness.
The second half of the movie is a brutal and intense depiction of the Battle of Okinawa, one of the bloodiest battles of World War II. Desmond and his unit are sent to Hacksaw Ridge, a steep cliff that is heavily fortified by the Japanese army. The battle scenes are incredibly well-executed, with Gibson's direction capturing the horror and chaos of war in visceral detail.
Desmond's heroism during the battle is nothing short of astonishing. He repeatedly puts his own life at risk to save the lives of his fellow soldiers, using his medical knowledge to treat their wounds and carry them to safety. The film does not shy away from the brutality of war, and the scenes of violence are often difficult to watch. However, they serve to emphasize the incredible bravery of Desmond and the other soldiers who fought in the war.
One of the most impressive aspects of "Hacksaw Ridge" is its cast. Andrew Garfield delivers a standout performance as Desmond Doss, perfectly capturing the character's earnestness and unwavering faith. The supporting cast, which includes Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey, and Teresa Palmer, is also excellent, with each actor bringing depth and nuance to their roles.
Another standout element of the film is its cinematography. Simon Duggan's camera work is stunning, with the lush landscapes of Virginia and the harsh terrain of Hacksaw Ridge both captured in breathtaking detail. The battle scenes are particularly impressive, with Gibson and Duggan using a combination of hand-held cameras and wide shots to create a sense of chaos and confusion.
However, "Hacksaw Ridge" is not without its flaws. The film can be overly sentimental at times, with certain scenes feeling manipulative in their attempts to tug at the heartstrings. Additionally, the film's portrayal of the Japanese soldiers as little more than faceless, evil villains is problematic, and serves to perpetuate harmful stereotypes.
In conclusion, "Hacksaw Ridge" is a powerful and moving film that tells the incredible true story of Desmond Doss. While it is not without its flaws, the film's stunning cinematography and excellent cast make it a must-see for fans of war movies. Most importantly, however, the film serves as a reminder of the incredible bravery and selflessness of the men and women who fought in World War II, and the sacrifices they made in the name of freedom.

Point Break (2015)
Tumblr media
While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. That's something to be applauded. With that established...
Without a doubt, this remake of Point Break is attempting to capitalize on nostalgia. Nothing about the original screamed “this won’t endure” but they’re remaking everything else, so why not? It also looks as though this 2015 film is trying to get some of that Fast & Furious money by turning its focus on the stunts and other “extreme” aspects of the story. This is a critical mistake which makes the film shallow, cold, and dull.
Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey) is a former motocross star and polyathlete (meaning he will master any sport from surfing to skydiving) training to become an FBI agent. He thinks he’s figured out the MO behind a string of peculiar crimes: a group of eco-warrior/extreme athletes are attempting a series of element-based challenges to reach enlightenment, a portion of which is dedicated to “giving back”, hence the crimes which end in ludicrous charitable acts and donations. When Johnny begins infiltrating the group, he befriends their leader, Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez). As they grow closer together, their bond threatens the entire investigation.
Strictly speaking, this is a retelling of the 1991 film. The characters share the same names and key plot points are there. In so many ways, however, this is like the Bizarro World version of it. Screenplay writer Kurt Wimmer simultaneously simplifies and overcomplicates the plot. Achieving the next level of meditation by dropping out of a plane after a high-altitude heist? It’s ludicrous even before you get into the details of the Ozaki 8 challenge/ritual. None of the extreme tasks are obvious things like “skydive out of a plane to conquer air” or "climb a volcano to understand fire". Instead it has to do with the direction you’re going, whether someone’s done it before and how dangerous the stunt is. The entire quest loses all credibility when we’re told the man who dreamt up this path of extreme wisdom died not even halfway through!
Though it may sound as though I’ve spoiled things by telling you that Bodhi is the mastermind behind the crimes Johnny Utah is investigating, I haven’t. The central mystery is so shallow you figure out everything this movie has in store minutes in. Even if you haven’t seen the original (as I had the first time I saw this). We don’t even get a single red herring to throw us off, so you’ll grow bored waiting for our hero to figure out what we did early on. Not helping are the bland characters. It’s as if no effort was made to differentiate anyone at all. Everyone has the same demeanour, the same kind of dialogue, and nearly identical tattoos. We don’t even get different ethnicities among the characters to help us figure out who’s who, which becomes impossible once the stunt sequences come in. You think at the very least the one woman with a speaking role, Samsara (Teresa Palmer), will get a little bit of a fleshing out by virtue of being the love interest but she gets maybe two scenes to herself and is so not in this movie you could’ve cut her out and changed nothing at all. How is it this movie lasts nearly two hours?
To be fair, Point Break does have one redeeming quality: the stunts. It's hard not to be impressed as characters race down mountaintops, dive out of planes, surf on waves, etc. They’re the kind of thing you’d never dream of doing so getting to see them shot this well is appealing. With that said, this picture suffers greatly on the small screen. When I saw the wing suit sequence in theatres, in 3D, it was mind-blowing. Not enough to warrant a recommendation or to make the movie memorable, but it still made me go "wow!" On my TV? Forget about it.
Say what you will about Keanu Reeves - who I think is good when he’s well cast - but he’s a manic overperformer compared to everyone in this movie. There’s no charm or excitement to be found in this remake of Point Break. It’s a film which struggles to justify its existence. There’s no way anyone will remember it down the line. (On DVD, April 26, 2019)
