God is enough. That is the root of peace. When we start seeking something besides Him, we lose it

“Silent solitude makes true speech possible and personal. If I am not in touch with my own belovedness, then I cannot touch the sacredness of others. If I am estranged from myself, I am likewise a stranger to others.”

When you have made a slobbering mess of your life ... compassion becomes a tad easier if you are conscientious in taking your own inventory rather than someone else's.

“If I am estranged from myself, I am likewise a stranger to others. Our hearts of stone become hearts of flesh when we learn where the outcast weeps.”

A Lenten Prayer
“O Lord, this holy season of Lent is passing quickly, I entered into it with fear, but also with great expectations. I hoped for a great breakthrough, a powerful conversion, a real change of heart; I wanted Easter to be a day so full of light that not even a trace  of darkness would be left in my soul. But I know that you do not come to your people with thunder and lightning. Even St. Paul…

Loving and Longing
Remembering Do you remember when you first fell in love with your spouse? I do. Ron and I had a long-distance courtship – 200 miles. And because we are of a certain age, we don’t have any of the instant apps available today. We wrote love letters, made cassette tapes, and paid for long-distance phone calls. I longed to see him, and on the days when I knew he was coming to town, I awaited his…

"When discrimination against women goes unchallenged; when minorities are considered second class citizens: when leadership is mastery of mega church principles and not humble service; when the poor and outcasted are not welcomed at the table; when obedience to the Father, loving service to others and simplicity of life are considered exclusive province of elite believers; when evangelical greatness is measured by achievement and not by smallness; and when the rejection and suffering inherent in bold witness to the truth is rationalized, minimized and finally pulverized in cantankerous Bible studies, then Jesus is made an anachronism, His teaching an irrelevance, and His followers an anonymous crowd- their investments and property intact, their credit cards and trinkets secure; a sheepish herd moving in lockstep with the lip serving, self absorbed entrepreneurs who stay busy 'expanding their territories to the glory of God.'"

CHRIST | CHOREOGRAPHY OR DANCE (Col. 2:8—3:4)
CHRIST | CHOREOGRAPHY OR DANCE (Col. 2:8-3:4) "Our faith is not about trying to attract God with our fancy footwork. Our faith is an embrace of God's movements."
Here’s my longer sermon notes from this morning’s Metro Christian Centre service (dated 2nd July 2023), continuing our series in the letter Colossians. You can also catch up with this via MCC’s YouTube channel (just give us time to get the video uploaded). ‘’Chaps who did taps aren’t tapping anymore They’re doing choreography Chicks who did kicks aren’t kicking anymore They’re doing…

For some reason I grew up with the handed-down impression that Brennan Manning was foundationally problematic. He was a sinner who struggled deeply, but his sincere belief that Christ loved him more deeply still is a legacy still worthy of note. This message is so beautiful for my soul to hear.

Awareness of Jesus is not a luxury for cloistered monks and nuns but a necessity for each of us. It profoundly affects our self-image, our relationships with others, and the manner in which we pray.

not to be a high elf apologist but i have to say it’s actually kinda sweet that old man both expected to see gorgug again and made intentional (albeit goofy) effort to get his name right even if the best that’ll come out of his own mouth is grape nip

Whenever the gospel is invoked to diminish the dignity of any of God's children, the. It is time to get rid of the so-called gospel in order that we may experience the gospel. Whenever God is invoked to justify prejudice, contempt, and hostility within the Body of Christ, then it is time to heed the words of Meister Eckhart, 'I pray that I may be quit of God to find God.' Our closed human concepts of gospel and God can prevent us from fully experiencing both. - Brennan Manning
