You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.

"I think you come in for one thing with a book often. You come in for the subject matter. You come in for the prose. You come in because you know the author. Then if it’s a good book, you discover other things that you like, and then hopefully you kind of swing from vine to vine by doing that." Writer Mat Johnson interviewed by Marita Golden

Disney World arrest: A fugitive from New York was caught after a federal inspector spotted him while on vacation in Florida
Tumblr media
Ausark  —  Federal official Jeff Andre was vacationing at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom near Orlando last month when he spotted a man who looked familiar. The man resembled Quashon Burton, 31, who authorities say went on the run in New York City last November after allegedly using fraudulent documents to obtain coronavirus relief aid. A criminal complaint alleged Burton stole the identities of at least four people to get nearly $150,000 in government loans aimed at struggling businesses during the pandemic. Andre was familiar with the suspect. As an inspector with the United States Postal Inspection Service, he was involved in the case and had signed Burton’s arrest warrant. And, in an incredible stroke of luck, the fugitive he’d been looking for in New York appeared to also be vacationing on the same day at the same Florida theme park. Andre sprang into action. Andre alerted Disney World security, who in turn notified the local Orange County Sheriff’s Office. And so began a process that ended with Burton behind bars – all because of the two men’s overlapping vacations at “the happiest place on Earth.” A 2021 criminal complaint – signed by Andre – laid out the details in the case against Burton. Burton was indicted on federal charges last December, including theft of government funds, conspiracy to steal government funds and aggravated identity theft. In its complaint, the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York accused him of stealing victims’ identities to receive the fraudulent loans and alleged he attempted to convert some of the funds into postal money orders. Snippet of the Day: A Call of the Sidhe
“So, there's like…different kinds of fairies?” Cedric finally managed to ask, and the man eyed him with vague annoyance, though Cedric wasn't really sure what he'd done to spark that particular reaction.            “Many,” the guy said bluntly. “Are you going to ask for your wish?”            “Wish, sure,” Cedric echoed, though he still had a hard time believing it. The phrase however sent a shiver down his spine. Ever since he'd been forced to retire, he’d hated the concept of wishing for anything. “So, is this a no-hold-barred sort of wish, or can I like…wish for more wishes?”            Cedric giggled in spite of himself, while the guy (he still couldn't think of him as a fairy) merely goggled at him.            “Fairy Law dictates that you have captured me, and I can offer you one wish in return. In Otherworld, the stipulations would be different.”                   “Fairy Law…” Cedric echoed. He wanted to laugh again—it sounded so made-up. “You guys actually have a code of conduct?”             “Yes?” the man replied, cocking his head a little. His eyes seemed to shine like stars in the moonlight, and Cedric felt his breath catch a little. He really was gorgeous—for a fairy, that is.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝑴𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒊𝒅 - 𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒔 𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑨𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏 🧜‍♀️ Book 25 of 2020 📚 A nice short tale to add to my read pile for 2020. It’s so much sadder than the Disney version of the story, but you can see the elements from which they pulled their version. #amreading #thelittlemermaid #hanschristiananderson #fairytales #mermaids #mermaidfairytales #mermaidstories #novella #shortstories #bookish #bookworm #ebook #bookish #bookstagram #booksaremylife #booksandreading #amresearching https://www.instagram.com/p/CB258iLAPmq/?igshid=2s3nuteit4hr

Excellent recent #bookmail from William Morrow and Avon Books! I’ve really been looking forward to Alyssa’s new suspense novel! I love her romances so will totally follow her for something a little different (out in early September). The Lippmann and Park are already out wherever books are sold. #books #booksandreading thanks WM and Avon! https://www.instagram.com/p/CESsqayAtP8/?igshid=ilkdm9p1q55f

⭐️ REVIEW *no spoilers* : 🐇 Wolf Hall is a work of historical fiction that retells the rise of Thomas Cromwell, a right-hand man of King Henry VIII. Cromwell is a blacksmith's son, low-born and expected to remain cowed by socioeconomic class. However, he defies these expectations and betters himself rapidly and with gusto. He is intelligent, reasonable, and most importantly, likeable. Despite these positive traits in its protagonist, Wolf Hall is the hardest and most perplexing novel I have had the misfortune to digest. 🐇 Not only is the dialogue practically indecipherable from the get-go, but even where Mantel does identify the speaker, it seems 90% of the men in this book are called Thomas, rendering the entire exercise pointless. I almost lost the will to live whilst I battled through this book. I can still barely believe I finished it. 🐇 Perhaps the most infuriating part of Wolf Hall is the ending. In the final chapters, the plot lurches forward and some momentum is at last gained. This is problematic for me, primarily because I was ecstatic for it to all be over. By the end of Wolf Hall, though, I had the tiniest hook tethering me to Cromwell's story. So I now feel obliged to read the sequel, Bring up the Bodies, despite hating almost every line of its predecessor. I am sure I will also despise this book, but only time will tell. I am miserable about it, and putting it off as long as I can. I felt that I should give Wolf Hall an extra star for the brief improvement at its end, but I cannot bring myself to do that. 🐇 TLDR: Only read this book if you enjoy being entirely confused about what you are reading, who is speaking and what is going on. Even if you do, save your money and read fanfiction. I don't doubt it will be a vast improvement. . #ouch #hatedit #bookstagram #bookreview #historical #fiction #historicalfiction #reading #wolfhall #succulents #booksandreading #bunnybookandco #bunnybook #genre #tuesdaythoughts #tuesdaybluesday #onestarreview #1star #killme #ihatedthisbook #cantbelieveimgoingtoreadthesequel https://www.instagram.com/p/CDece2pp6SO/?igshid=sdwhrostf6mt
