Screaming and sobbing forever and after about Robin Stevens' character Anna Goodchild because her being trans seems such a purposeful decision, especially with the UK the way it is right now. Transgender isn't a new concept (though of course it often had a different name), and shouldn't be treated like it so Anna Goodchild in the 1930/40s felt like hope. I think @redbreastedbird said that books are always political or something along that sentiment and it rang so true for the entirety of The Body In The Blitz.

Also major shoutout to the Goodchilds for being supportive, and being like 'Murder is Okay but Transphobia is crossing the Line'

I just watched s02e06 of helluva boss and i have to say i am positively suprised. I really like this episode and i think it may be the best one of this season. This post wont be as long as usual mostly because i wont really criticize. I just wish to point out what made this ep good.

So the most important reason is obviously Fizz. I am suprised by how charming he is. Very energetic even when not on stage, kind of silly and sweet, which is an interesting combo with the voice he has. The way he interacted with other characters made this so fun to watch. Impossibly cute with Asmodeus, suprisingly unadept at dealing with bad guys and of course his whole dynamic with Blitz. This one was the best for me. Despite them being very agressive towards each other, i could still feel all these years they spend together. They know each other well and i am happy it was properly showed. I was even more suprised when i could see the child version of Fizz in his adult self. Like obviously the aversion to violence but also small moments, like how he was amused by the way Blitz invitined him inside a car. And especially when he asked for help. Its very hard not to like him. And his song, it was so silly especially the last part. When i heard "Luigi" i died.

I also appreciate how Blitz and Fizzs past was explained. I cant say i cried but i didnt cringe, and the voice acting was absolutely brilliant. I am glad it really was an accident cause it makes me much more symphatetic towards Blitz.

And while i talk about him, he was really cool. We could see that he is a good fighter and not an idiot with how he broke them out. It was really satisfying. The action scene despite being chaotic was fun to watch and its worth seeing at slower pace. There is this moment when Fizz is literally in Blitzos ass and his face is priceless. I only wish Blitzos skill would be more consistent.

Anyway despite fast pacing it was alright, the mood wasnt randomly changing and they properly focused on the plot and depiction of characters. I feel like sound design sometimes got wacky but i think its more of a personal opinion than anything else.

The last thing i wanted to talk about is Striker. Seeing him completely lose his shit was oddly entertaining. When he first appeared i expected him to be some kind of super boss, a more skilled but also more egoistic version of Blitz. Than he became clown with almost nothing to offer but dick jokes and now he is completely unhinged. Quite a transformation wouldnt u say. And while i still kinda regret him becoming a laughing stock (he became much less threateing), i can enjoy him being a crazy fucker. So maybe he isnt fully wasted.

So yea, these are my thought on the newest episode and i sure hope i wasnt the only one enjoying it. Now i pray this quality stays so maybe i will become fully invested in the show once again.

Hazbin Hotel Spoilers!! My thoughts on the VAs, and where I go from here.

I'm only going to say a couple of things about the first episode. The voices are bad.

I think Charlie is the only consistently good one and Alastor does sound better with the voice filter on. I think Niffty is okay, I will always prefer the pilot VA. But...listen.

I don't want to be mean about Blake. I'm sure he's talented. But his delivery as Angel is really, really bad. I don't mean in a "bitch about the show haha" bad, I mean it is just painful to listen to. His delivery is not natural, the accent sounds so forced and the tone is grating. He sounds like he belongs in a cringe fandub, not an official production.

Vaggie sounds incredibly dead. I think Stephanie could really work in this role but it sounds like the voice direction is keeping her from emoting half the time. Her register is too low and too plain to give any kind of meaningful performance. She has done low register characters before and knocked it out of the park so that's why I believe this was a mistake on direction's part. She's talented, let her showcase it.

Husk, it doesn't fit. Keith David is talented as FUCK and his delivery is good! But this was a miscast. The original VA was great because he had that jaded old man sound to him, a disgruntled quality that accompanied his character.

Adam...god shut up. I don't know if it's the fact that his song is paced all weird and the dialogue doesn't flow, or that his dialogue is just GOD AWFUL but I can't listen to this man speak. He sounds like he's overacting on stage in every single line, there is no time to breathe between his sentences.

And my wife Katie Killjoy? It's just fucking Blitz. There is no humor in having her sound like this, and the performance has none of the flair as the original pilot VA. It sounds like when a cartoon gets an obvious celebrity who doesn't fit the show because they just wanted to get that person on for an episode.

So yeah. The songs were mid, the jokes weren't funny, and Angel saying "this body was meant to be exploited" was just...yeah.

I'm sorry to the entire pilot cast, I'm sorry you were all replaced when you ARE these characters. A character is their voice, and you all poured your hearts and souls into your performances to make Viv's creations come to life. I don't think she deserved any of you. This is a disappointment for animation at worst and a bad vanity project at best.

I will not be watching any more full episodes.

Fizz Character Analysis (Spoiler Warning)

So when I was watching the newest episode of Helluva Boss, I will admit that I was slightly confused by Fizz’s explanation for why he felt he couldn’t quit working for Mammon. After all we saw that Asmodeus was trying to get him to quit working for him already and had spoken of how much he despised the man. So why does Fizz think that Ozzie will leave him or he’ll lose everything if he quits

However, when you look at the circumstances of Fizz’s life leading up to know and the influences he has around them, this actually does make a lot of sense for his character.

Chronologically speaking, we can see that at the beginning of his life in childhood, Fizz was already a child star in the circus, and was well loved and admired for his talents. He completely outperforms and overshadows Blitzo, and garners the attention of his father, Cash Buckzo. It’s been a running joke that Cash far prefers Fizz as a son because he is better than him and rakes in a lot more of a profit. But, we can understand this isn’t real affection, Cash assigns worth to being a good performer and being able to provide something to someone else in order to be loved. Fizz is overworked and under a lot of pressure in this kind of environment

This pops up again, when we see Fizz as a teenager. The pressure of being perfect is starting to get to him and he struggles to establish firm boundaries with others as we see with that rabid fan. Blitzo was the one who had to step in when he got aggressive, and even though everything that fan said was bullshit, his words still deeply affected Fizz.

Jumping forward again in the timeline, we see that Fizz has been picked up my Mammon as a performer. And again, all boundaries are gone as he makes robotic versions of Fizz to be sold all over hell for all manner of uses, and most commonly in the form of sex dolls. This very obviously makes Fizz incredibly uncomfortable but because he feels he owes his success to Mammon it is harder to turn him down without the backup that Blitzo provided to him when they were young.

And based on his treatment in the present day, Mammon Regularly

Scrutinizes his weight and appearance

Touches and manhandles him

Puts him through dangerous stunts

Forces him to talk to crowds of people when he’s already tired or stressed

Makes him deal with sexual harassment

Putting him into costumes that feel restrictive

And most likely he was already dealing with this kind of thing long before he even met Asmodeus and began to date him. The mindset he grew up with in childhood is being reinforced in this time frame. He is worthless if he isn’t performing, he always has to be striving to be better, he needs Mammon.

Another factor to keep in mind, is that while we don’t know this exactly, fizz has just come out of being severely disabled and traumatized by what happened in the fire with him losing his limbs and horns. And with the theory that Mammon was the one who initially provided him with his new robotic attachments, he would have to be feeling a lot of gratitude towards him for this. His image of himself coming out of this is fragile with this new version of his body to come to turns with, on top of losing his best friend. Making him extremely vulnerable and easy to take advantage of.

Then jumping forward again, we see that fizz has started a relationship with Asmodeus, one of the deadly sins, ranked only under Lucifer and his family. Both of them care very deeply for each other and have established very strong mutual trust and boundaries. Albeit, they do have to keep this secret (even tho they are very bad at doing this). Ozzie is protective of Fizz’s safety considering he is ranked much lower than him in hell’s hierarchy and that much more vulnerable to being hurt. This is one of the first positive relationships that fizz has been able to enjoy in a long time, and you can see that Ozzie has sort of filled the hole that blitz left (no pun intended). He acts as that barrier/voice that keeps him from people who cross his boundaries.

And while we can see that Ozzie is an amazing, loving partner to him, this isn’t going to fix the years upon years of problems he’s faced. His childhood, teen years, and a portion of his adulthood have been in the spotlight with managers exploiting him for profit. It is all he knows and they’re going to make sure he can’t leave.

Think about how Mammon knew that Fizz and Ozzie were an item. Think of how he would be talking to him in private telling him that Ozzie could leave him at any point because he’s just some imp. That without his fame and talents that he is nothing. The bottom of hell’s hierarchy.

One of the strongest elements to Helluva Boss’s storytelling is the way they lay out hints and background details that allow audiences to put together the story without it having to be exactly spelled out to us. And I think that is what they have done here, even if the pacing of the show can be a bit off at times. When we go back and rewatch the episodes that feature fizz we can see begin to see how he got to this point in his life and what it took for him to break out of it.

Moxxie *Reimagined*

Overall I think his character is relatively likeable in the show (except for when the plot randomly decides that he's annoying, like in unhappy campers)

I like the idea of him being the unheard voice of reason and the Sharpshooter of the group.

Gave him a few gray streaks in his hair, I like the idea that working for blood stresses him out so much he's going gray

As you can see, I did change his body type. Mostly just to let him stand out more, since everybody in the show seems to have the same two body types and I just wanted to add some variety.

He is not the son of a mafia boss in my reimagining. Mostly just because that doesn't make any sense. It would be fine if it was just for an aesthetic in the show, but they treated like it's the actual mob, which is just so bizarre to me

So instead, he just comes from a family of successful business imps. In the ring of greed, it is considered particularly humiliating to lose wealth or be a part of a failing business

I imagine he is constantly exasperated by Blitzo's inability to plan

Spoiler alert: Crimson's getting reimagined too. He's going to be pretty different. But I will get to him some other time

He and Millie still love each other in this rewrite of course, but sometimes they argue over their different approaches to their jobs and other situations. Moxxie can be overly strict, and gets easily frustrated when things don't go according to plan, while Millie is overly competitive, oftentimes not planning.

Which leads to her and Blitz feeding into each other's energy and just becoming a ball of Chaos. I imagine this leads to Moxxie being The Unofficial medic of the group

Not in the same way I did with Daisy being queer, but it wasn’t like I planned him to be straight then changed my mind, more like I hadn’t really considered and then I did and realised that he was bi.

I knew he and Daisy wouldn’t have a romantic connection (obviously) and he and Lavinia would, but then when I started to plan BITB I tried to imagine what an adult George would be doing and I just was like … oh, yes, he would of course have a boyfriend.

He and Lavinia didn’t work out (mostly her issues about long-term relationships after her parents’ divorce) but are still good friends who care deeply for each other, and now he’s dating Ralph instead.

George is truly one of my favourite characters and I wish good things for him!

Headcannons: Anna Goodchild!

- LOVES jewellery

- every year her parents gift her a new necklace chain while Cecil and Zosia buy her a charm each to go on it

- also LOVES shoes, she has a favourite pair of red heels that make her feel beautiful and confident

- really into romance novels (I think this is canon tbf)

- but when they get sexual she and Zosia sit in their kitchen reading the scenes aloud dramatically and laughing

- really into sewing and fashion and does super clever things with curtains and towels and stuff

- she does lots of the sewing at the ministry, replacing British clothing labels with French and whatnot

- loves animals, cats especially and always taking them up to the flat because "Zosia, look, this poor thing's practically skin and bone!" while holding up the chunkiest cat ever

- Zosia now has a strict no animals in the flat policy, so you'll often find Anna sat on the steps up to it, trying to coax a little mouse out the gutter or some such thing

- in a qpr with Zosia (though they wouldn't call it that as they didn't have the terms for it) > they'll curl up round each other in bed while gossiping about men, or fashion, or books

- awful at cooking, both Anna and Zosia, it's a wonder the flat's still there

- very direct, says what she means, and in some cases it comes out as blunt, but in other cases, when she compliments someone you absolutely know she means it

- into psychology, really knowledgeable about body language and all that jazz

- does NOT like animals for this reason, doesn't understand them and thinks they're too unpredictable because their body language is different

- not a big jewellery fan, finds it sort of restricting, so finds herself liking makeup more

- finds it really soothing, especially right after a mission > if she's feeling really jittery, Anna will let Zosia do her makeup too

- a little obsessed with crumpets, and a lot embarrassed by this, keeps an emergency packet in her desk at the ministry

- has a boyfriend back in Poland, who she misses a lot (Zosia is from Poland right, don't say I've got this wrong)

He anticipated that you’d know he was back before everyone else. Even if you’d avoided him.

But, even he hadn’t expect to find you in the church. Sat in a pew.

You weren’t religious. Hated it all, in fact. But, you were upset and he guesses it was a driving force for what made you enter.

You’d always had a weird gift for knowing where he was—if he was close. He knows he shouldn’t have gone to your apartment, sat on the fire escape just to listen to you sleep.

You had a special sense when he was concerned, and he had a soft spot for you.

Something neither of you could ever explain.

Both fighting it until the last moment, falling together in a blitz of desperation and passion which resulted in him being permanently changed.

For him, you could have been it. If not for Elektra. If not for loving her and you at the same time.

But then you whisper his name, saving him from his thoughts. Pulling him back to the present, to the church.

He’s unsure what to expect when he sits beside you. Half-bracing for a hug, an abundance of emotions. And then he listens, really listens.

Finding you trying to manage your emotions as you face forward, hands together on your lap, awkwardly squeezing and un-squeezing as his knee meets the side of yours.

“Nice of you to let me know you’re alive, Matthew.”

He doesn’t reply immediately. Unsure what to say, do, except answer with: “The person you knew is dead.”

You snort. Small. Sharp. “Well, that answers that then. I guess I’ll move on.”

He can taste your bitterness. Practically feel the waves of annoyance. Your head not turning to face him. Not yet. Your back straightening, body tensing. He can hear it all, each muscle in your body preparing to not give in.

Matt is overwhelmed by the memories too. The good times, the way your nails feel in his hair when he sunk to his knees to bury himself in your thighs. The way you moaned his name, the way your hips twist and move when you rode him. The way your perfume lingered on his skin.

“You should move on.”

You snort again. “I’ll get right on that, Matthew. Up until now I’ve just been carrying a torch for you, creating a shrine—“

“—Look, I get—“

He doesn’t need eyes to know how sharp your glare is.

“I don’t think you do,” you spit, tone sharper, less controlled. “For one, I didn’t run into a building to save my ex without as much as an explanation. Secondly, I didn’t spend months prior to that trying to woo you, only to go and do point one. And thirdly, I didn’t then fake-die for months—leaving those around us to pick up the confused pieces.”

You have a point.

Even deep down. Under grief, under pain and under anger caused by Fisk. He knows it.

In fact, he rather hates that you have a point and are currently handling it with as much grace as you normally do. Your tone levelled, as much as you can—so not to disturb the few others in the church.

“Did you avoid seeing me because I have nothing to exploit or because you were trying to spare my feelings?”

“Would you believe me if it was the latter?”

You don’t smirk. Your heart doesn’t even jump a beat like it used to.

Instead, he hears you clear your throat. “The FBI is very much on to you.”

“I know.”

“Your putting your friends in an uncomfortable position.”

“But, not you?”

It’s only then do you turn. Your eyes brushing over him. He can feel them. They’re like the sun on a warm day, they always have been.

You lick your lips. “No. I know what I signed up for when I kissed you.”

He wants to reach out. Wants to brush a finger over your cheek, to even pull your head onto his shoulder.

Just for a moment.

To pretend to himself nothing is different, even if everything was far from normal.

“Are you in danger?”

He smirks. “Always.”

“So am I in danger?”

He doesn’t know how to answer. Especially when he knows you already know you are. But you like confirmations. Like facts. Not make-believe.

“Tell me you don’t… didn’t love me.” He turns his head as you shift, heart rate increasing. “Lie, if you have to. I don’t have your particular skills to know if you are.”

Your name falls from his lips in a whisper.

“Just…” you sigh, your well-presented front shattering. “I hate you.”

And you move, practically flee as his hand moves to comfort you. Those three words landing like punches to his already bruised body.

Made that much worse by just hearing you hold your tears back until you reach the exit.

Despising himself.

Because he should have just lied.

Should have said he didn’t love you. He never had.

Instead he whispers, “I still love you.”

To no one.

Mainly for himself.

Because he wishes it was different. Wishes that he had said he hated you too.

Especially because soon enough he’ll learn the worst kind of person is inside your apartment. A person you’d once known, brought back into your life because of him.

Someone who is not a friend, but a foe.

A person who steals Daredevil outfits and pretends to be your friend.

The Mystery of Blitz's White Thighs in the Helluva Boss Mid Season 2 Trailer

UGH I can't believe I'm making a tumblr post about this, but here we go.

So I, like everyone else in the Helluva Fandom, was super excited about the trailer that dropped, but I noticed something that's been bothering me and it won't leave me alone, so... here we are.

It's Blitz's thighs.

Hold on now. Bear with me. Everything's under the cut because this is gonna get long and also spoilers.

So.

We already know that the white marks on his face, hands and body are burn scars from when his circus exploded, right?

In the new trailer, we see that he's got white up and down both legs.

Ouch, looks like his legs (and groin?!) got burned in the fire too, right?

But... we've already seen his thighs in other episodes and they did NOT look like that. I went back and re-watched because I thought I was going crazy, but nope.

Yes, they have white splotches on them, but they're not solid white. They're still mostly red.

So... WTF is up with THIS?:

Is it a continuity error and he actually is burned over a greater percent of his body than I first thought?

Does he somehow get injured/scared in another way that we haven't seen yet?

ARE THEY JUST PANTS? IF SO, WHY DO THEY MATCH THE SAME RED AND WHITE AS THE REST OF HIS SKIN??

I don't know.

Maybe we'll find out when the episodes drop, maybe it'll remain a mystery. I hope there's an explanation though. While this show doesn't have 100% perfect continuity, it's been pretty good so far and this seems like a mighty large error if so.
