This is a bit of a random or unspecific one, but do you have any hcs about the strawhats (or law) that you think are cool? I just really agree with all of your opinions on op so I was wondering!

sure! i have kind of a bunch and i can never remember them all at any given time, so here’s just a few

zoro’s upbringing being pretty traditionally japanese-inspired (or wano-inspired in-universe, i guess) always makes me think he should be at least familiar with things like calligraphy and tea ceremony. he probably has a bunch of passive knowledge about reigi (japanese etiquette) tucked away somewhere in the back of his head he just actively disregards it constantly

luffy doesn’t actually have much physical resemblance to either of his brothers- obviously he doesn’t look much like sabo but i like to think he doesn’t look much like ace either. like if you saw the three of them with no context you’d never guess they were related

i have a bunch of headcanons re sanji and starvation trauma and most of them were sorta alluded to in that fic i posted the other day about him and tama, but one that didn’t make it in there was the idea that part of the reason he smokes is because nicotine suppresses the appetite

also i like to think sanji has just PERFECT fucking balance and posture, he’s just stupid graceful

robin is a polyglot, she picks up new languages and dialects extremely easily. she has pet names for most of the crew in various dead or obscure languages

franky had a bunch of scars and tattoos and stuff on his original body (he was both a carpenter and a thug, come on) and occasionally gets sad about not having them anymore. when that happens he is generally attacked with markers and gets all marked up with little drawings. usopp is the best at it. chopper and luffy Suck but make up for a lack of skill with enthusiasm

brook was always talented but he’s a much better musician now than he was before he died largely because he had fifty years of practice time and a pile of instruments and Nothing Else To Fucking Do

nami studied celestial navigation in addition to all her weather and current knowledge. it doesn’t actually ever work on the grand line to get them anywhere but she does know all the navigational stars and constellations and stories behind them. sometimes she stargazes; sometimes her crewmates join her and listen to her talk about the stars, especially if they’re having trouble sleeping

i feel like law can only ever really sleep on his submarine when its submerged cause like if you’re on the run from a super dangerous person who can go pretty much anywhere and attack anything in sight but can’t ever go underwater that would be a really smart choice of ship really if you ever wanted to feel safe

ANYWAY WHO’S READY FOR SOME ROLE REVERSAL AU

(also known as the feeling of an immense amount of #regret at realizing you gave an obscure AU-version of your OC a better design than her canon one)

Design details: The symbol on the side is a Pianta symbol, from Lana’s home island. They’re obsessed with circles, it’s a spiritual thing and also to do with their nature as a fruit plantations island. Since Lana in this didn’t leave her home as a child, she’s much more entrenched in the culture and got the tattoos before she left and as a symbol of her task by her family. 

Role Swap AU

The one where Ace is haunted and a revolutionary, and Lana becomes a pirate, dies and haunts him.

Rouge’s mother takes one look at Garp and says, no. You’re going to fuck him up. The kid stays. But you’re going to visit and keep the Marines in line.

So they stay in contact. When Carmine, Trey and Verte (members of my Portgas Clan, whose family tree you can find on my deviantart but which is spoiler-heavy for the next wwtd chapters so i haven’t uploaded it here yet) join the Revolutionaries a couple years later, this is what happens: They somehow hear Dragon is has a son. A son that he gave to Garp to care for. The Portgas Clan collectively stages an intervention.

So this is how Luffy, instead of being dragged to Dadan following the Shanks-incident, is dropped off in South Blue by a very grouchy Garp who doesn’t understand why he shouldn’t care for kids. He took perfectly good care of Luffy so far. He’s going to visit as often as he can so that they still might become Marines!

Ace now has a little annoying brother-figure, as if his annoying 12 years older cousins weren’t enough basically siblings ... it’s hard being a middle child, but its also never boring, since gran lets everyone run wild and just laughs at and loves her parent-less children.

Ace grows up with his father having been some anonymous guy not worth mentioning and his mother a very loved bigger-than-life figure. He isn’t told about Roger; Garp is violently silenced by his grandmother if he tries. But Pianta isn’t far from Baterilla, and one day gran takes him to visit. He finds and eats a fruit he shouldn’t have. Baterilla is a lot less fun after that, and he finds out what really happened to his mother. His gran sits him down and explains. After grappling with it and a lot of teenage angst and even more screaming at the ghosts, he eventually decides to join the RA.

(Luffy thinks that’s super boring. He’s still going to be Pirate King!)

(Ace will meet Sabo; this Sabo never got out. Instead, he’s a shrewd noble dealing RA information under the table until this position isn’t worth it anymore and he joins the revs for real in a move that shocks the Reverie)

... Ace is very, very good, but so is Cipher Pol — especially when properly motivated. His heritage (or the suspicion of it) is a very strong motivator ...

Lana doesn’t eat a fruit that isn’t there. But when she’s 17, there’s an incident on Pianta with a visiting world noble. The Marines do absolutely nothing. Pirates end up helping. But her 14yr old sister has disappeared, and Lana sets out to look for her because she’s the only one who can; her brother as the heir remains home.

She takes a few wrong turns and ends up eating a fruit that makes her turn into fire. She’s not pleased at all. She also gets labelled a pirate shortly after some nut-jobs decide to follow her: congratulations, you’re now a pirate captain. She’d like to set them all on fire.

Anyway something terrible happens to her sister and Lana chases rumors all the way to the New World. Even in this world, Lana does not give a shit about world politics, and since Whitebeards closest and seems to have the necessary influence and not completely off his rocker, she directs her ship to his, lands on deck and demands his help. Everyone is kind of like standing there and going … what the fuck.

Whitebeard probably tests her or something. But girl is determined; she’s been looking for her sister for 2 years some old dude and herculean tasks aren’t going to stop her. And if joining his gang is what it takes, fine.

… of course, Teach ends up murdering her when she (accidentally) comes in between him and Thatch.

Teach is an asshole and a big threat that needs to be done in, but most importantly, she still hasn’t found her sister. So she goes to find the ghost-boy that she heard about somewhere.

Unfortunately, she’s lost time gathering her spiritual self, and finds ghost boy has gotten himself captured and is scheduled to be executed as Gold Roger’s son.

This might have started the revolution early, but Lana has no time for this shit. Also the dude can’t die, not on her watch, he still has to find her wayward sister.

This is how Ace gets a new epithet: Fire Fist.

(… Ace now has to abandon whatever he’s doing cuz this ghost gives no shit about his own priorities; but she had a hand in saving his life so he will settle the debt.)

🍃 My LOGPOSE Spring 2020 cover feat. Leafless sisters for the Grand-Line-OCs collab over on dA which I had the pleasure to organize!

References used: I basically copied the pose from this cover: cover ref. I basically copied the pose from an existing cover which saw it while browsing for inspiration and i just fell in love. I have never obsessed over a picture this much, omg. 💦 Many thanks to @joudoodles and @bro.ppi who helped me out (and pushed me) and @jcfall, who kept screaming at me and therefore sane.

It’s the time I’ve drawn the sisters properly – Leslie doesn't get the stage she deserves; in my defense, she'll only appear in like, part 5 of the fanfiction (im still on part 2 as you all know IM SORRY).

Here’s a better look at their outfits cuz I spent like an entire day coming up with that and needlessly adjusting the base’s face to Leslie’s … :’))

Lana’s leather jacket i made up while working on the cover itself. My sister, who is the fashionable one of us two, basically came up with Leslie on her own and guided me on Lana :’’) (— incidentally, after staring at the inspirations for Lana's shoes and jacket, I have now less money.)

PIANTA is their home island. It's famous for the growing and trading of all kinds of curious fruits! The flowers in the background are my attempt at coming up with something that would be harvested with a boomerang-like tool. (this is me trying to work with what 8-years-ago-me thought was cool – I also realized Pianta is literally italian for “plant“ and i'd like to slap past me thanks)

REBOUND GIRL is Leslie. She loves love and being in love! Unbeknownst to Lana, Leslie has become a Bonney Pirate since last they saw each other, wild. She's a cook and fights with knives and boomerang-like weapons. Her fighting method and her tendency to have changing partners have led to the epithet “Rebound Girl“ (i love puns ok). The sisters had another adopted brother –the universally agreed-upon favorite familymember– who died rather violently. Lana left her family soon after.

Wonder who “The Whisper“ is, huh.

Second commission I got that made me weep. Pink haired gal is Fyurama’s OC Timber, a Water7 native. Fun story Fyu knocked down my door, came into my house and took me hostage and now I'm lost to smol punk girlfriends. This is the most wholesome ship I have known and now she will not be able to pry it from my sticky fingers again. Timber's design is one of my faves out there and her post-skip design is just *chef's kiss*

SMOL BACKSTORY: Taika first met Timber in her Marine days, in a time before the Water 7 arc. Taika thought Timber was very cute, she reminded her a bit of her childhood friend Oz and so she immediately felt comfortable in her company. They were pen pals for a while and grew closer. There was pining. They met again two years later on the oceans and sparks flew! Timber's chaotic and impatient nature balances with Taika's perfectionistic and meticulous traits.

Some commissions I got of the Hitogatas — Nanko and their older sister Neito (Quirk: push and pull) who is a stressed college student and ended up paired with Hawks in an on-off-relationship-thing back in October so don’t @ me (they don’t do complicated). They have a super cute unplanned kid (Kotori) that can turn into a flock of birds and is very precious (her hair resembles feathers, she is an adopt by @farfalleh​)

Nanko’s quirk (living puzzle) is a mutation of their parent’s quirks: Their father has a doll quirk and their mother has “organize“, an emitter-type that lets her telekinetically “organise“ things according to an organizational system). Neito’s quirk (push and pull; literally lets her telekinetically pull and push things away from her) is from her mother’s side. Unlike Neito, Nanko wasn’t fast enough (and thought themselves smarter) when their Hero-Otaku grandma decided she’d have a hero in her family.

Actual conversation about Nanko’s hero ambitions:

“What drives you to become a hero?”

“... fear, probably.”

“Your reason is– you‘re ... afraid of villains?”

“No, but my gran is gonna kill me if I don‘t become a hero.”

WIP of Nanko’s hero outfit and casual style using assorted bases. Just noticed i didn’t sketched the connecty round bits on the glowy stripes on the right hero outfit sketch :’’) This is over a year old and I havent drawn touched it since rip

DETAILS

the entire hero outfit is a reference to their quirk (puzzle)

left version is winter hero suit, which is basically just more covered skin because listen coming up with it was hard enough, bnha hero suits are NOT my strong suit

suit is made out of Nanko’s hair like Mirio’s and skintight so that Nanko can separate themselves into pieces without worrying about keeping clothed

different colors/lengths on either side and on fingers to help with left-right-confusion which is a side effect of overusing their quirk

the lil monocle-visors have mental boosters to help with the control of the body parts

(Nanko’s parts do not regenerate like that salamader-girl’s from 1-B. They are however quite sturdy once separated and hard to destroy. Still, this means Nanko can’t leave an area until they have located and collected all their pieces.)

idk why the puzzle-outline-stripes should be glowy that seems tacky but also lemme have this
