Was going to write today, like, I had a horrible day yesterday, but today I felt good!

I had a cry while I was at work and that seemed to help my mood yesterday

So I was really looking forward to writing today

But I needed to check something via an email about my accommodation for KupoCon in Feb, which spiralled into several hours of stress, more tears and still not 100% sure if it’s actually confirmed yet.

So now I don’t feel like doing anything, I don’t even particularly want to go to work tonight, it has really battered me, to the point I don’t want to do anything

It's a wonder Brainy doesn't have a traumatic brainy injury- I know cartoon logic and all, but like. Good grief. I watched the Magic Flute today and like- Clumsy gets hurt and Papa immediately treats his injuries. Brainy gets hit with a mallet, and he's just. Left there. Papa even says 'he talks way too much' or something, like- why would you say that about your own kid? And then let the others attack him over it with no repercussions?? Even with Grumpy he says 'we love him' but Brainy? 'Haha, no. He's our village punching bag, see, he has more than enough brains to cope with a little brain damage.'

Haven’t posted my personal thoughts on tumblr in a LONG time and after seeing what I saw on my TL, I just wanted to get everything off my chest. I’ve been posting more settphel fan art on here, but as I’ve stated before, I’m not really a fan of the ship; however, I can appreciate the artists work who draw the ship. Something people on twitter can’t do. 

Apparently someone drew SB Sett & Aphelios with their own OC and it made Settphel-GayLeaguetwt explode? Of course, Bitches- I mean, Witches, is at the forefront (are we even surprised?). Here’s the art in question: 

Sett and Aphelios with Ace’s friend’s OC in the middle. Their oc is absolutely adorable, just vibin’ in the middle of Sett and Aphelios.

I guess all of these dont count anymore because someone drew fan art of Sett & Aphelios with someone in between them.

People calling the pic “homophobic” even though Sett was hinted to be Bisexual by his narrative writer for the skin line. While people HEADCANON that Aphelios is mlm or ace, he hasn’t been confirmed by Riot as either. So, no, not homophobic. This commenter biphobic? most likely. 

“I hate women making mlm relationships be about them”  “How dare someone draw these characters, that I don’t own, the way they want! They’re so selfish!” 

This was the comment that pushed me to making a post:

The fan art wasn’t made for YOU, so if you feel disrespected, that sounds like a you problem. Also implied (where?) =/= canon. No where in lore or voice lines, (as of right now) has stated that Aphelios is mlm. I would say that it’s headcanoned by a majority of the Settphel community, but remember, your head canon =/= canon.

Riot themselves didn’t make official promo art of Sett with Soraka or changed his voice lines so he doesn’t call Aphelios mooncake. Settphel is still “canon” whether artists draw them with other characters or not. (also the “I was bi for half my life,” good for you? Dont know what that has to do with fictional characters and a piece of fan art = erasure. It’s giving “I have a black friend” energy.) Also, “people with too much free time,” yet you made a whole ass thread about how “disrespected” you felt about a piece of fan art and continued to talk about it in quote retweets AND in dms after you deleted said thread so...  

Doesn’t matter if it’s canon or not, stop trying to police what artists can and cannot draw. Fan art DOESN’T HAVE TO BE CANON, IT CAN BE WHATEVER THE FUCK PEOPLE WANT IT TO BE BECAUSE IT’S *THEIR* FAN ART. I cant believe that has to be said. There are HUNDREDS of other artists on twitter actually drawing Sett and Aphelios together. I’ve only seen a couple of people draw Settraka and other art like this because psychos dogpile and harass these artists into either deleting the artwork or privating/deleting their account. Yummy, bullying people over fucking fan art. Someone pointed out, “people bully settphel artists too because they don’t like settphel” to which I say, don’t ever bully ANYONE. PERIOD. You don’t like what the artist drew? Block & mute, baby. Leave them alone, let them and mutuals enjoy their art/ship in peace. No one gives a fuck and needs to hear you announce that you don’t like it.  I’ll personally say on my own tumblr blog, “I’m not really a fan of [insert ship here]” but if I ever do make that comment, it’s usually followed by, “but I definitely can appreciate the artist’s work and I like the artist’s style.” Again, I’d never comment that under the artist’s post; I’ll say it in my own personal space. I’ll just give them a like, maybe a retweet and keep on scrolling. They don’t need to know that I’m not into that ship. They probably also dont care and have enough people already telling them that anyways. They didn’t draw it for me, they drew it because they liked it.  “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” I’ve been being a lot better about typing up something to someone else and just thinking to myself, “its not worth it” and deleting the whole thing. I’m not gonna change their mind and they aren’t going to change mine so why bother, you know? Here is my own personal ranting space so it’s a bit different.

And yes, before you point out how this isn’t the only fandom that’s toxic and how toxic other fandoms are, like the genshin fandom, almost everyone pictured here is also part of the genshin fandom. Coincidence? No. Toxic individuals of a feather are gonna flock together lol. 

A cherry on top: 

“I’m going to need to take a break from the community because someone drew fan art of two characters, that I don’t own, with their own oc, and it made that me upset.” Bruh.💀 Fucking toddlers, man. Alright everyone, lesson of the day is: you’re not allowed to draw anyone with anyone else except their canon significant other or the most popular head canon. Yes, I’m going to police what you draw and if you draw what I dont like, it’s erasure and it hurts my feelings. :’c Y’all can only draw what I like, okay? Okay.  But seriously like... bruh. Over ONE. SINGLE. PIECE. of fan art. In the OCEAN of Settphel fan art that’s all over twitter, some settphel fans felt so attacked and butthurt that this person drew one picture of Sett and Aphelios with their OC.

The artist didn’t give a shit about their feelings and drew this in response. All I gotta say is power to ‘em.  

It’s giving:

You’ll always hear me say, as long as it’s not illegal, gore, incest, etc, ship what you want to ship. I’m also going to add to that, let other people ship what they want to ship. Someone drawing the two characters you like not together and with someone isn’t erasure or a personal attack. Sett and Aphelios aren’t your OCs, and artists can draw them doing whatever they want.

Ok… rant incoming, feel free to ignore it, somethings just come up and it really irritated me, I’ll put it under the read more because it’s a lot… personal stuff, family stuff, I’ve kept this rant bottled up for a pretty long time so it’s a long post

I came so close to scrapping this again (I have typed this story out in the past and deleted it) but sod it! I need to get this out of my system!

TW: Illness, death

So… I have a half sister, she’s my dad’s daughter from a previous marriage, much older than me and my brother

I’d not heard from her for 13 or 14 years but when my dad’s health deteriorated she turned up, acting like she’d been present for the last 13/14 years, my dad had invited her over so I remained civil, as much as I hated her being there

A little extra context, she has 4 children and my dad, their grandfather, met the youngest 2 for the first time just before lockdown in 2020, they were 9 and 7 years old!

When my dad was at his worst, about a week before he died, she turned up again, at the same time my dad was being seen to by an ambulance crew (his temperature was worryingly high, given his condition) and with lockdown rules, only 7 people were allowed in the room; my mum, dad, 2 ambulance crew, our GP was there as were the 2 visiting nurses that came to the house 4 times a day to help with his care, so I went in the living room out of the way, when she got there I told her that we needed to wait in the living room, so what does she do, yep… goes into the room where my dad is, acting the concerned daughter.

When she gets told to go and wait in the living room by my mum she comes in and sits down, never asking if I was ok, or anything like that, no she says “what’s wrong with dad?” Oh I had to hold my tongue sooooo much, I could’ve gone off on a rant, but I didn’t, I said “they’re making sure his temperature isn’t because of COVID” then she says “how would he have got that?”

Now bare in mind… I was still working full time, I was going into work not knowing if he would be there when I got home, I was at the end of my emotional tether, if it wasn’t for a couple of friends at work, I’d have exploded at that comment, I read it as she was blaming me for making my dad’s health worse, I couldn’t deal with her, so I retreated to my bedroom and cried for a while.

So… dad died in October 2020, I made it clear that I would not sit next to her at the funeral, we shared a hug at the end but she said nothing to me, not that I wanted her to, and that was the last time I saw her.

Fast forward to today… a whole 2 years, 7 months and a few days after he died, and my mum comes down with piles of photos, and she says “I know you’re going to ask, so I’m just going to say it, I got a message from her (she used her name but I’m not going to use it here) the other day asking if we had any pictures of her with dad, I know we have a couple so I’m going to look for them”

And this is what has irritated me, after nearly 3 years of no contact she asks if we have pictures of her and dad?! And assumes that my mum can just say “oh yes, we have a lot, I’ll send them you, dad kept them in a special box” because NO, he didn’t, we have like… 3, and they could be scattered in various piles of photos!

So now my mum is having to search through photos to find pictures of her… it’s just… it’s really annoyed me…

My mum has been avoiding looking through the pictures, because it upsets her, I know it does, so I insisted that she put some upbeat music on (Pet Shop Boys, mums favourite) and to stop when she needs to

Jason Blossom + Laura Palmer + The Dead Girl Narative

one genuine complement i have for riverdale season 1 (aka before the show got interesting) was the decision to kill off jason and have his ghost pretty much the driving purpose of the whole show. usually in tv shows like riverdales, beginning with a murder, that murder is always a woman. she exists solely for this purpose, to be figuratively undressed by the (usually male character) solving the case. the victim is beautiful in death, posed, and angled towards the camera.

the treatment of jason blossoms death can be compared and contrasted with another iconic flip of the 'dead girl narative', laura palmer. ok now that im thinking about it its kinda crazy. both offer an interesting commentary on this narrative.

we are able to learn about these characters through what they left behind. we see jason live on through his sister and twin children. we can see this, but we are never able to actually learn from the source itself, both laura and jason. jason's only lines in the entire series are of his counterpart in rivervale, and laura's are her backward lines in the black lodge. this furthers the dead girl narative, their only actual words being from twisted versions of themselves, just like the twisted versions that those not close to them found after their deaths.

another similarity is the world's impact in the wake of their death. post mordom they ate still there and present, driving every action in the town, the root of all evil. the town of riverdale will never be the same, and laura palmer leaves behind a trail of bodies.

i would love to talk more abt it, but this is just the barebones of my analysis! if anyone has any questions or comments abt their reqding of this plz let me know! id love to hear it!

I finished watching "In Blossom" and lemme tell you except the ending everything was great! Like what the hell writer was thinking with that cliffhanger?? They don know that making a 2nd season takes ages 😔 ( if there's any to begin with)

Anyways, This drama was unexpectedly so intriguing. Right from the trailers and all it was eye catching, the cinematography, the music, everything was 10/10

Coming towards the characters and if it ain't clear by now, LEMME SCREAM THAT I LOVE PAN YUE AND LIU XUEYI IS JUST THAT ACTOR, for whom you'll suffer dramas like destined just cuz he was THERE. Besides his exquisitely beautiful hanfus , his own character presence was strong, charismatic and those damn eyes😩

I really liked his and the female leads(both) chemistry, they both had impactful chemistry with his character and i have seen them having lols in behind the scenes, so yeah they created good chemistry.

I am happy this year Liu got so much appreciation ( not that he is new to the industry, some morons keep bothering this humble man with his age but he doesn't give a single flying bird).

I am so excited for his new upcoming projects ESPECIALLY KMLM.

May he continue to make me breathless with his beauty and slay his every character in future. 🙏🏼

I’ve realized that Warner Bros. productions can’t keep a purely evil (or just purely mean, in Cheryl’s case) woman purely evil (or purely mean) to save their lives!
