Hello! we've been doing a couple of lessons on classification recently, and i told my teacher about your genus of mini frogs. she was delighted and they have now been added to her powerpoint :)

I like to think of them as everyone's genus Mini. We all need a bit of a laugh sometimes. Things are always much too serious, especially in jargon-rich fields like taxonomy. It's helpful to lighten the mood. And perhaps if we all think of them as ours, perhaps we will be better at ensuring their future.

It’s wild to me that I went from loving bugs and frogs and what people generally consider ‘ugly’ animals like vultures etc. as a young kid to disliking them because my peers loudly hated them, and my autistic ass was already terrified of being Wrong and Weird by the end of my first day in preschool. The same with the music I liked, and the movies, and the books, and hobbies, and any interests I actually had. What I didn’t stuff down early on, got bullied out of me over time until I only ‘liked’ what others liked. Did what others did.

And how it took years being away from that kind of environment to re-learn what I really liked and cared about. And even now I’m not 100% there yet. I still hide things that I like. I try not to talk about them, or draw too much of (thing), or be too excited about something. Because that’s what ✨trauma✨ does babee. 👍

Anyway. This is your gentle reminder that you can relearn to love the things you genuinely love. It’s hard, but it’s integral to getting back to feeling like yourself again after years of being someone else. It’s so worth it, I promise.

I'm an ardent the-other-three-1987-turtles-would-just-laugh-at-Raphael-and-his-misfortunes-in-the-episode truther, which resulted in possibly one of my most fun and favourite doodle dumps.

These drawings are specifically how I imagine the 1987 turtles would've/could've been in that episode.

like twewy itself has a ton of mechanics dedicated to crossdressing already and the general fascination with mid 2000s fashion culture is an obvious jumping off point for further exploration.

but like I think the closest they get to actually acknowledging any of those mechanics is when they have josh get dressed up in clothes from a slightly girly but mostly unisex brand as a gag. and iirc they did basically the same joke with fret in the sequel. wasted potential.

like in terms of emergent narratives in a given playthrough it's very very easy in both games to get to "this was a story about a bunch of youngsters gaining magical powers and saving the day through exploring their gender" which obviously appeals to me. but they left so much more on the table yknow. it could have been About about that instead of only kinda about that. someone who knows what a game is should get on it.
