for some reason, eddie munson has been hanging out at scoops. scoops ahoy, of all places.
robin isn't sure why he's here, but it seems when he shows up, her rich bitch of a coworker, steve harrington, seems to get real flustered.
how interesting.
she watches from the corner of her eye as steve strikes out with yet another girl, and as eddie scoffs in his direction. it's not harsh, though. more of a fond, knowing look, to which steve meets with his own matching expression.
it seems practices, casual, even. do eddie and steve know each other? outside of boring school hierarchies? are they friends?
the way they're interacting now sure seems like it.
she catches steve's eye, watching as a blush rises to his cheeks, before he ducks his head and wiggles his fingers in some sort of wave at her.
she scoffs and looks back to where eddie was, only to find that he'd moved on already. she pretends not to notice the disappointment on steve's face.
were they actually friends? it seems unlikely but, hey. who is she to judge, the dingus is actually pretty cool sometimes.
---
turns out, the king and the freak were much closer than robin once thought.
and cooler too.
though, that was physically speaking, because about thirty seconds ago, she'd walked in on them in the freezer. luckily, they were only kissing, still, it was a sight she'd never lose.
she power walked back to the break room. "oh my god." she whispered to herself as she sat at the table. "buckley! buck, hey. robin," there was eddie, he looked a bit flustered and the situation fully set in. "hey-"
"robin, you can't-" eddie heaved a breath, "you can't tell anyone, please," his tone was pleading, and his eyes were wide with fear. a concerned part of her wondered where steve was, if he was too ashamed to show his face. no, he wasn't like that.
"it's okay, i- uh. i have a crush on tammy thompson."
"wh- oh. that's great, good. good." eddie breathed. "i gotta go check on stevie." he told her, jerking a thumb towards the walk in.
how steve was still in there was beyond her, that little box was cold.
it was a few minutes before both boys emerged once more, tears frozen to steve's face as he walked out, shaking hands grasping at ring clad fingers.
he was scared. scared of her, robin realized.
"steve-"
"it's okay, robin. eddie told me," he sniffled, hands still shaking. "thanks for being cool about this, my dad would actually kill be if he found out, i- uh. yeah. thanks." he sighed, shoulders finally relaxing, falling away from his ears.
"of course, steve."
"tammy thompson, though?"
"i know, right?" eddie giggled from next to him, still holding steve in a comforting embrace, smiling as steve laughed.
robin scoffed, "what's wrong with tammy?"
"nothing," eddie said casually, while steve decided to forgo pleasantries, "she's a total dud." he scoffed. "she is not!" robin protested, mouth open in amused shock. "glad to see you're back to your bitchy self, sunshine," eddie laughed, watching their antics.
ridiculous.

Guys can we please talk about how HUGE buck being bisexual is?
We have more people watching the show because a man was made bi and he hits NONE of the gay stereotypes.
People are doing it because this is so so so rare!!
People are doing it out of SPITE for the homophobic fans!!
People are watching the first season and are in SHOCK because oh?? There’s a lesbian black couple?? With a CHILD??? Oh there’s a gay 911 operator???
Guys it’s just
So many people are discovering this amazing beautiful show and the queer characters and now THEY get to see themselves as well!! THEY get to experience this joy with us!!
Because 911 is so much more than Evan Buckley. It’s so much more than Hen and Karen and Josh. It’s so much more because of them. It’s so much more because we have such a diverse and amazing cast. It’s so much more because they talk about topics of abuse, ptsd, family trauma (for SEVERAL characters), therapy for MEN, the grief of losing a partner or a parent or a child. It’s fully a found family show!!
And it’s so beautiful to see people hear about this show and watch it and feel seen. That Evan Buckley being bisexual opened a door for so many people that never knew it was ever there.

this zine may not be about you. for a long time these thoughts were in my brain but only to lovingly yell at my friends. this zine may be about you but not helpful to you at this time. i hope it's helpful to some though.
if you like this zine you may also like the body neutrality movement. and the song "can't go back" by the crane wives, which i kinda quoted as well. leave the rest behind.
this is part of my project to make a zine a day in april
some things that didn't fit in this zine were:
you gotta learn. you gotta learn that learning doesn't mean feeling bad.
it doesn't help you act right to feel bad about previous things. guilt is useful to a point. that point is reached when you know what you did wrong

No, but what I love about this is he just couldn't wait to show how proud he was. He needed to give Ted approval. He absolutely could have waited until their next training day. He could have texted him later. No, he fucking RAN from wherever he was sitting (because it wasn't wit the team) to get to the dressing room and meet Ted.
He's so excited for Ted to know he's on the right track.
And even when the others are making fun of him, Ted is the one who reminds the others that Trent is one of them. (Come on Diamond Dog Trent WHEN???)
I swear these two have more chemistry than some of the actual ships on this show.
And further, Trent couldn't wait to show Ted later just why he WAS straight.

You have to understand. I don't "ship" Harry with the smoker on the balcony, I think whatever they have going on canonically is way funnier and touching than anything anyone could come up with.
There is so much within the dynamic itself. It’s a middle aged man and a younger man who are nothing alike and everything like each other. It’s the smoker being the person that kickstarts Harry’s sexuality journey anew, seeing Harry’s fascination with him and being amused by it because (aside from Harry being probably the first man in a while who’s managed to leave him dumbfounded in a positive way) the smoker *knows* what’s happening in Harry’s mind and as he puts it, it’s beautiful.
Don't get me wrong, the mutual attraction is there. The smoker flirts with Harry every other two lines (girl why the fuck are you flirting with a cop you're insane. I'm obsessed with you) yet makes fun of him in the same breath while Harry is absolutely clueless the whole time because he's too busy staring at his abs. Couldn't come up with anything funnier if I tried.
I love this high drama check, this is exaclty what it feels like to speak to clueless boomers who have no idea what they're talking about. Still, once Harry admits that he might be part of the "underground" as he puts it, the smoker is immediately excited and encourages him to think about it. It's very sweet.
(I know everyone has probably seen this dialogue 100 times by now but I love the phrasing here. literally twink_boutta_pounce.jpeg)
And as a side note I really like this emphaty check in response to Harry's little breakdown after the failed suggestion check the first time you meet him. The smoker like damn he just like me fr.
I don't think more smoker interactions were needed at all or that they would ever talk again post-game but it's interesting to think about what other converations they could have, even just so we could learn a bit more about him. They both have an interest in art. They're both stuck in a place they can't leave if they wanted to and yet find beauty in it, they both have regrets about past relationships. They both find talking with the other a charming experience in a way or another. If I want to be indulgent, they both could benefit from learning about what being gay means for a younger/older generation, especially since they both have such different life experiences with their identities.
It's all fanfic talk, and obviously no cops at pride and so on but their interactions did make me think about community and recognition through the other. A flirt for the sake of a flirt, a “maybe in another lifetime” but this lifetime is good too because they did meet and leave an impression on each other before parting ways. That's *beautiful* too.
