Welcome, one and all, to the Paladin Tourney! Here, we will pit our beloved knights in shining armor against each other to determine who is Tumblr's favorite paladin!

I'm loosely defining "paladin" as any character who is, or who resembles, a paladin or knight, in either appearance or personality. They may wear the iconic shining armor, have an oath that they're fiercely determined to keep, or just have the vibes.

Tourney rules:

Be kind. You're welcome to make propaganda for or against characters, but don't attack people over who they vote for. Being racist, ableist, homophobic, or otherwise bigoted gets you blocked.

Besties Together Reader is neutral. More platonic than romantic, [y/n] and Luke are just being besties!

"WOAH!" You yelp out as you duck, barely avoiding the high punch thrown your way. With so many fighters out roaming the streets, it's hard to not get into any random street fights but with the amount of people clustered in an alleyway you needed to get through? You didn't want to take your chances nor were you in the mood to fight so many bad guys. Your luck was running thin. Turning around and sprinting back out of the alleyway to find safety on the open sidewalk, the sun hits your skin but not before you run into someone. "Oof- Hey, you should be more careful and watch where you're going next time."

Looking up slightly, you've run into a muscular blond man. He doesn't look threatening but with what you previously encountered, he was probably part of those alleyway thugs. Tightening your hands into fists, you mentally prepare yourself for a brawl with him. Both of you staring at each other before the man looks up and quickly grabs you out of the way before parrying an oncoming attack from behind you. Moving back so you wouldn't get hit, you watch the man fight. Using signature moves and blocking with ease, the battle ends quickly with no damage taken. You stare in awe, he turns around and gives you a smirk along side a thumbs up. "You're welcome!" He says boldly, "Oh right, yes sorry. Thank you, that was really cool!" you say shyly.

"It's no worries," he brings out his hand in front of you "The name's Luke. I'm a coach at my gym just a few blocks over from here."

"Luke... That name sounds familiar... Either way, nice to meet you Luke! I'm [y/n], I was just running some errands."

"Oh cool! Glad I could keep you out of harms way" Luke says smiling brightly at you. "Yknow, if you want to learn how to be a great fighter, you should pop into my gym and learn some moves from ol' Luke."

You contemplate the offer for a few seconds before deciding. You take up his offer to visit his gym and learn some new techniques.

"HYA!" Pants are heard from inside the gym. Both Luke and yourself were sparring and now exhausted from the intense fight you shared. "Woo! That was a great fight [y/n]. Let's take 5 and go again?"

"Hmm! That depends. What will you buy me for lunch?' You question mischievously, a big grin finds its way on your face as you watch Luke scratch his head and sigh. "Damn, you're still not over that? Fine I'll buy whatever you want later."

"Of course! You lost the bet, you best pay up." Walking up to Luke you poke his cheek annoyingly. Luke grabs your arm to prevent you from poking him even more. He starts ruffling your hair to mess it up more. "HEY- LUKE! PFF- STOP IT! I MEAN IT." Trying to to giggle from how comically long he was playing with you. Once he finally lets go you look at him with an angry look. "My hairs a mess now! Why is yours still so perfect?! This isn't fair."

"I'm just perfect what can I say." Luke says in a teasing voice.

"That's IT! I'm going to go spar with Jamie." Turning around to start walking out of the gym you hear a gasp from Luke. "Oh no! No you won't! I'm afraid you're stuck here in a contract with me, your beloved coach."

"HUH? What do you mean? The last time I checked, *you* owed *me* something." Putting a hand on your hip. You absolutely lived for the friendly banter you shared with Luke constantly since you first met. The two of you developed a strong bond where you looked out for each other and helped each other out wherever you needed it. Getting along with each other like a house on fire.

"Well, how about the time I saved you from those alleyway thugs huh?"

"Hehe! I don't know what you're talking about!"

"Oh you are asking for it. It's ON [y/n]!"

Smiling, both of you get in position to start a new battle.

Only a total of 64 characters will be allowed in the bracket, and 8 slots have already been filled, so only 56 characters will be making it onto the bracket!

Certain characters can be submitted together! (For example (but not limited to): Adeleine and Ribbon, Tiff and Tuff/Fumu and Bun, Lololo and Lalala, and the Mage Sisters!)

Kirby villains/monsters are allowed!

Even if a character has enough votes to qualify, they may be turned down from the tournament! The mod will make a public announcement for the character, and explain why.

Anyways. I desperately want a fic where it’s only 10 years past the Empire (so they could potentially run into hermit Ben and his rabies twins) one day Din Djarin is out on a bounty when he suddenly ends up in custody of a small pointy eared girl who claims to be the reincarnated soul of Jedi Master Fay and Jedi Initiate Grogu (‘wtf is a Jedi?’ ‘…you. You’ll do just fine. Yes.’) and sets out on a journey to find Jedi and accidentally ends the empire’s reign like 15 years early and then Jedi start trickling out of the woodworks like hermit Ben (and his smol rabies twins whom he and Bail have decided to reunite) and Yoda (he actually had to be picked up from the swamp and insisted on bringing his own bacteria with him, what a nice guy, plz stop trying to feed people soup, it’s giving the humans hives) and Kanan and Ahsoka and Ezra (their own rabies specimen) and a bunch of other Jedi survivors are trickling in (Quinlan quite literally landed on Master Kenobi and started a brawl for besmirching Obi-Wan’s honor by Bail of all people and people took bets) and now they’re trying to adopt Din’s whole covert (and giving stupidly good reasons why Jedi and Mandalorians need to stick together too) and clones from all over the galaxy popping up to see what the fuss is and now Din is the very confused Buir of a tiny green frog and a tiny little… elf? Wtf species is Fay? Wtf Din is so confused, and helping rebuild the Jedi order which he never even heard of till a year ago Plz he’s only 28 he’s not ready for this responsibility he’s just a sleepy baby. The only buir move he’s got up his sleeve is enforced naps for both Grogu and Fay. He’s good at cuddling them to sleep. He hasn’t gotten Grogu to eat a single veggie in his presence. Fay eats leaves. Like. The ones you’re not supposed to eat. Master Kenobi cried when he saw her and cuddled her into a nap and made the twins he drags around mega jealous. There is a very pretty twink ghost that follows Kenobi around everywhere he whines about everything and it’s super cute cause Kenobi keeps placating and cooing at him. Bail Organa gave them land on Alderaan to build the newest Jedi temple at. It’s not a wellspring, but it’ll do till they can claim an untainted wellspring planet to get a temple on. Maybe when Luke and Leia are trained so they can stay with their parents (Owen would have murdered Obi in cold blood if he took Luke off planet without asking, so him and Beru came with, but he’s been talking to Anakin’s force ghost and he’s really lightened up a bit with extra info) and Bail is delighting with the gentle chaos all the Mandos and Jedi are bringing about. It’s delightfully less stuffy and so many more citizens are talking about ending slavery now days. Delightful. Fay ends up BFFs with Breha who keeps braiding her hair all pretty and got custom robes for her. Fay feels a lil like a pretty princess and Leia is less jealous than Fay being cooed over by Obi for some reason… but still very jealous. Which leads to lots of cuddles with her and Winter and Breha and Fay. Girls club. Cal keeps coming back with more and more clones every time he wanders off. Wtf bruh.

She actually proposed to the king! N he denied her!! Cuz they like fought r something ya know n she lost n 4 her that was the first time someone beat her n for him it was another Thursday

They ended up getting married 79878900877+ fights later cuz she managed to scratch his butt cheek in battle (which was an accident btw she was going to his Achilles’ tendon) n that was the first time anyone ever got him so 💁 marriage

They actually didn’t have kids (Dia) right off the altar n if you ask anyone their marriage was more like an EXTREME friendship that u can claim on taxes. They did almost everything together n kinda never showed PDA nor looked like they wanted to. They brawled publicly n she helped him with a lot of royal stuff n meetings n things like that. More or less humans are one of two things to her 1: food 2: pets. No more no less, she definitely sees them as sheep or even slaughter animals (but she would love-ish MC cuz how couldn’t she love her son’s let 🥹🥹)

Also she doesn’t like Angels at ALL, she wouldn’t even like Lucifer n their siblings just CUZ they used to be angels. She thinks they’re selfish n too high on grace n would give everything she has to punch 1

O yea one thing the Devildom didn’t like is that she never wore her crown or dressed in royalty. Even for parties she’d have her horns out but rarely her wings or jewelry. Her reason for this when asked is “everything’s heavy”

So I had a very nice ZukAang dream last night about Zuko and Aang (aged up) having a daughter together and it was just super cute. I woke up at 2:30am, half asleep still needing a shower, which, gave me ample time to dwell more on said dream. Why can't I go back to sleep and finish it? I want more. The best I could do is write down what I remembered after the shower in my notes app though.

ANYWAY! If you're interested, the dream went roughly like so;

If you fudge the timeline around a little bit:

Aang gets frozen with Gyatso after a tactical retreat from the attack on the southern air temple. Sozin was looking for him specifically since he's already been announced as the Avatar to most of the world, so the air nomads haven't been outright slaughtered, but their numbers are not what they once were since Sozin still kills a lot of them looking for Aang after he gets frozen, assuming they're hiding him - he's probably about 20 and already been taught Water bending, was in the process of learning Earth bending but it wasn't going well.

He still meets Katara and Sokka (also aged up, so 22 and 23) when he wakes up, they still help him and they both continue their water bending studying as they travel. Gyatso helps them by being team dad.

Zuko still gets booted from the fire nation for the same reason, probably at the same age too, but by the time he finds the GAang, it's just him and a core group of guys + Iroh that have all pretty much come to the same conclusion - the fire nation is in the wrong and want to help. Zuko is also aged up to 23. He's seen some shit, he is not keeping the title fire nation prince, if someone asks, he makes sure they know he's the ex prince. He meets the GAang after they find Toph. (who does not need to sneak away because she’s a grown ass woman of 20 and made her own choices. Her parents still don't know about her bending prowess and coddle her, but ultimately, they can't actually stop her from leaving.)

Gyatso and Iroh are instant BFFs and co dad the GAang once Zuko joins - which is significantly easier since Ex prince Zuko is pretty publicly anti Fire Nation. But he does usually still go by the Blue Spirit to make things easier. Zuko/Iroh and Toph are teaching Aang Earth and Fire bending, and as a result, are getting closer. The comet isn't super immanent, they have time. (5 years or so? They're preparing, (both sides) but the time frame isn't quite as crunch time.) Zuko and Aang end up getting married quietly and having a kid (and nothing I've read/seen in AtLA canon says men can't get pregnant, and it's fantasy so ... ya' know.)

He dissappears from the public eye for about a year and resurfaces with a daughter. Her other father is not made public knowledge just to keep her safe from Zuko's family. (No name yet, leaning towards Rain?) She turns out to be an Air bender so no one actually can hazard a guess as to who her 2nd dad is. Even if being the child of the Avatar does technically mean she had the same chances to be any other type of bender.

She is about 3 when, while Toph and Zuko are away dealing with a covert operation for the resistance, her, Aang, Katara, and Sokka are attacked (where are Iroh and Gyatso? Dunno, maybe a White Lotus meeting???) by Zhao and his fleet. The fight is intense and being older and wiser, Aang doesn't use the Avatar state as often, but they're still kicking ass and taking names until Rain gets taken hostage and Aang gets seriously hurt, when he notices and gets distracted. Zhao uses her to escape and Aang is heartbroken that his baby is taken. Katara and Sokka are just as upset, not having been strong enough to get to her before she was taken aboard the ship. (Rain had wanted to help, saw her daddy, and aunt and uncle fighting, and said "I'll fight too!" And in typical 3yo fashion, did not listen when Sokka and Katara told her no, and slipped into the brawl of Fire Nation soldiers and proceeded to be a little more than a nuacience to them before she's captured.

Cue Zuko hearing about what happened after he gets back maybe a day or two later and sees his husband very injured (they at least took out the ship's worth of men who had stayed back to slow them from getting to Zhao and rescuing Rain themselves. T'was not an easy fight and some got in decent attacks while they were emotionally compromised.) And hears about Rain's abduction. He and Toph give chase while Katara takes care of Aang. He promises he doesn't blame them, he knows how dirty and underhanded Zhao is, that using a child to gain an advantage is absolutely something he would do. The Blue Spirit pays them a visit and when Zhao asks why the blue spirit is after him someone smartly answers; "well, it might have to do with you kidnapping the avatar's kid."

Which is where I woke up, but I'd like to think Rain was just throwing a tantrum amd flinging tornadoes around shouting for her dads when Zhao tells her she can't go home.

When Zuko and Toph get there to rescue her she probably blows Zhao off the side of the ship while they're escaping just to be petty. Toph would absolutely high five her for it too.

I love how everytime your different au's dinlukes are imagined meeting each other, the Lukes go to the park to eat ice cream and feed the ducks, while the Dins are busy brawling in an Applebee's parking lot. That, or at least one of the Dins is doing his level best to pack up all the Lukes and take them home with him. (Which honestly, so valid)

it is very valid. The Dins are out for blood cause the other hurt a Luke (though they both did so they are hypocrites) and the Lukes are chill and BFFs.

And yeah, normally one or both Dins are trying to steal the Lukes to have their own collection.

A Din would go feral for a harem of Lukes he can love and take care of.
