But when devastating secrets are revealed and the reckless actions of their past bring new challenges, she's left questioning everything, including if the love that consumed her as a teenager is still worth holding on to. It was a nice second chance romance! I really liked Dunni's character and Obinna the complimented each other. The romance between Dunni and Obinna was one that I enjoyed especially Dunni you could tell and feel how much she loved and cared for him but with Obinna for some reason I didn't feel the same with him. But other then that it was a good book! Many thanks to @berkleypub for eARC via #NetGalley. Dog Friendly by Victoria Schade ⭐⭐⭐ (3.5/5) This is heartwarming and lovely contemporary that revolves around overworked, burned-out veterinarian, Morgan Pearce, who has to take a vacation after losing consciousness due to fatigue. She accepts request ofone of her patient to dogsit for them in Nantucket for a summer where she finds her love for job once again and also understands the importance of taking care of herself. The story is about depression, compassion fatigue, emotional trauma, impact of lack of work-life balance on mental health, dark side of profession, importance of therapy, friendship, and love. Plot is character driven emotionally engaging and steady to slow paced. Best part of the story is theme of compassion fatigue and emotional trauma that every veterinarian go through. I didn’t know the darker side of the profession. Dogs are amazing. I never had dog as pet, I’m a cat person but it was interesting to know about dogs, their behavior, ailments and diseases more. Why 3.5 stars- I didn’t like the lull in middle part. It felt like nothing much is happening in the book in terms of character development and romance for long time. I wish there was more discussion on what Morgan was going through, what has affected her self-esteem, and why she feared talking about her problems for most of the book. Both romantic and sibling relationships are okay. Overall, Dog Friendly is heartwarming, lovely, enjoyable, slow paced women’s fiction with serious topics and beautiful setting. Book Review…Such Sharp Teeth by Rachel Harrison Rory Morris isn't thrilled to be moving back to her hometown, there are bad memories there. She's unnaturally strong, with an aversion to silver and suddenly the moon has her in its thrall. But does that mean she's putting those close to her in danger or is embracing the wildness inside of her the key to acceptance? A quick, fun, weird and disturbing story that would be great for the fall season! Rory has such a dark sense of humor but it fits perfectly to the book! She was a great character! You never knew what she was going to do next or who she was going to piss off! There's a little bit of romance which was ok. I do wish there was a little more to it but everything else about the book was good! Overall it's a fun and quick paranormal romance read with some mystery and plenty of humor! Many thanks to Berkley for eARC. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Miss Aldridge Regrets is engaging historical crime mystery that revolves around Lena Aldridge, a showgirl in London Soho, finds herself amid murders and drama of upper class family when she has to leave London after the murder of her best friend’s husband and owner of the club she worked at. The plot is filled with glamor, mystery and drama that take place mostly on the ship, RMS Queen Mary while all the backstories of characters take place in London that mostly includes what happenes in Lena’s life a week ago and how that influences her to take role on Broadway and board the ship to NY. I loved layers in the story and the setting of Queen Mary. We see the class differences on the ship, how the floors was divided in classes, some people were allowed to explore certain levels while some were not, and how staff also behaved as per the class they dealt with was interesting to read. We also read the struggle of working class family, life in Soho through Lena’s past and prejudice of higher class through secondary characters and Abernathy family. Mystery is most interesting, well written filled with red herring. Climax is tense. I couldn’t guess the killer until this point. I’m also disappointed with the reasons motive of whole game. It didn’t make sense the way the killer changed thoughts and decisions which makes the end weird, implausible and questioning the morals and ethics that’s why it’s a 4 star from me. However, I could agree on one thing one has to put their own survival first when caught in situation like this so I don’t mind Lena’s decision in the end.
