How Can New Zealand Manuka Honey Help Protect You Against COVID-19?
Tumblr media
Manuka honey contains antibacterial and anticancer effects. In conventional medicine, it serves as a natural substitute for antibiotics and antiseptics. But what happens when a viral illness enters the picture? That's where manuka honey can help you fight COVID-19, a deadly virus sweeping the globe. Manuka honey, both in food and medicine, is widely known for its antibacterial capabilities. It has traditionally been used to treat cuts, wounds, and scars, as well as to soothe a sore throat, reduce coughing, and as a general immunity booster.
It is used to cure wounds and inflammation, as well as to repair gastrointestinal problems, including diarrhea, and for other health advantages.
Regular Honey And Manuka Honey Differ in the Following Ways:
Manuka honey is distinctive because it possesses qualities not found in other types of honey. Although Manuka honey has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant benefits, its NPA, or non-peroxide activity, makes it stand out. It gauges the antibacterial strength of the honey; the more significant the NPA grade, the stronger the honey. MGO is also used to measure the quality of manuka honey. Methylglyoxal, or MGO, is a naturally occurring substance with antibacterial properties; thus, the more MGO honey has, the more potent its antibacterial and health-promoting properties are.
Unsure of which manuka honey will work best for you? Look through our Manuka Honey guide
All Seasons Are Wonderful For Manuka Honey:
Instead of staying indoors feeling poorly, you should be outside, embracing life to the utmost. All year long, use products with manuka honey to bolster your immune system and preserve optimum health.
Choose Your Manuka Honey Products For Immunological Support Here:
There are many fanciful coronavirus treatments on the internet, and while we don't make any such promises, Manuka honey is well renowned for being extraordinarily nutrient-rich and immune system-supportive.
Natural honey is regarded as a great substitute for antiviral medications for treating some viral infections because it has been shown to be a powerful antibacterial in numerous research studies. According to studies, honey, especially Manuka honey, is a potent deterrent to the influenza virus and aids in preventing virus reproduction.
According to past research, eating honey may help lessen the severity of infections either directly by enhancing immune responses or indirectly by potentially having antiviral effects against other viruses.
Manuka honey has demonstrated potential therapeutic benefits against various viruses, according to science and anecdotal evidence, although studies on its impact on COVID-19 require further investigation.
The secret is to select high MGO and NPA-rated Manuka honey that is of high quality. Biodot produces some of the strongest and rarest certified organic Manuka honey in the world, including significant amounts of MGO and NPA. It's also sweet, simple, and the perfect addition to your health and wellness routine.

Observe the following three:
Propolis:
Propolis, which bees use to repair their nests, has a variety of bioactive substances that strengthen your immune system and help your body recover from the disease.
Vitamin-C:
Another element that supports your immune system and aids in your body's defense and response to threats is vitamin C. Although incorporating vitamin C into products containing manuka honey can be a terrific approach to boost your immune system, it is best used as part of your regular daily wellness routine.
Echinacea:
Research has revealed that the active ingredients in the purple echinacea flower help the body respond to stress and maintain a healthy immune system. Echinacea is a fantastic approach to maintaining a strong immune system and supporting the body against obstacles when combined with Manuka Honey.
What Further Safety Measures Can I Take To Prevent Catching a Virus?
You can take easy steps to lessen your chance of contracting a virus and being ill. It is crucial to stop COVID-19 from spreading.
Wash Your Hands Often:
Use an alcohol-based hand gel if you can't wash your hands.
Use paper towels to dry your hands instead of a dryer.
Use the inside of your elbow, not your hand, to cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
The eggs and the beef must be fully cooked.
Stay in bed if you're feeling under the weather.
Avoid interacting with those who are sneezing and coughing.

Health Benefits of Raw Honey: Finding the Best Options
In a world of processed foods and artificial sweeteners, raw honey stands out as a beacon of natural goodness. But what exactly is raw honey, and why has it gained such popularity in recent years?
Raw honey is essentially honey straight from the hive, untouched by processing or pasteurization. It retains all the natural enzymes, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that make honey a cherished ingredient for centuries.
Tumblr media
Beyond its sweet taste, raw honey offers a plethora of health benefits. It's renowned for its antimicrobial properties, which can help soothe sore throats and alleviate coughs. Additionally, raw honey is rich in antioxidants, which can boost the immune system and protect the body from harmful free radicals.
Moreover, raw honey has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for various ailments, including digestive issues and allergies. Its natural enzymes aid in digestion, while its anti-inflammatory properties can provide relief from allergic reactions.
Understanding Quality in Raw Honey
When it comes to raw honey, quality isn't just a buzzword; it's a defining factor that can profoundly impact your experience and health benefits. Here's a closer look at what distinguishes high-quality raw honey and why it matters:
Factors that Determine the Quality of Raw Honey
The quality of raw honey hinges on several key factors, starting with its source. Bees collect nectar from various flowers, each imparting unique flavors and nutritional profiles to the final product. Additionally, the environment in which the bees forage plays a significant role. Pollution-free areas with diverse flora tend to yield superior honey.
The processing method is another crucial determinant of quality. Minimal processing preserves the natural enzymes, antioxidants, and other beneficial compounds present in raw honey. Cold extraction methods, for instance, help retain these valuable components, ensuring a more wholesome product.
Tumblr media
Importance of Sourcing and Processing Methods
The significance of sourcing and processing methods cannot be overstated. Honey sourced from reputable beekeepers who prioritize ethical and sustainable practices is more likely to be of superior quality. These beekeepers often adhere to strict standards, such as avoiding the use of pesticides and ensuring humane treatment of bees.
Similarly, the processing method can either enhance or detract from the honey's quality. Heat processing, common in conventional honey production, can degrade enzymes and diminish nutritional content. Conversely, gentle processing methods preserve the honey's natural goodness, resulting in a product that not only tastes better but also offers greater health benefits.
Understanding these factors empowers consumers to make informed choices and appreciate the true essence of raw honey.
Criteria for Selecting the Best Raw Honey
When it comes to selecting the best raw honey, a few key factors can help ensure you're getting the real deal. Here's what to look for:
Purity and Authenticity: Ensuring the purity and authenticity of raw honey is paramount. Opt for honey that is sourced from reputable producers and undergoes minimal processing. Look for certifications or labels that indicate the honey is pure and unadulterated.
Tumblr media
Organic vs. Non-Organic: The debate between organic and non-organic honey often arises. While both types can offer quality honey, organic honey is produced without the use of synthetic pesticides or chemicals. It's a personal choice, but opting for organic honey can align with a preference for environmentally friendly and sustainable practices.
Packaging and Labeling: Pay close attention to the packaging and labeling of raw honey. Look for clear and transparent labeling that provides information about the honey's origin, processing methods, and any additives or preservatives. Additionally, consider the packaging material—glass jars are preferable as they help maintain the honey's quality and prevent contamination.
Selecting the best raw honey involves a combination of factors, including purity, sourcing, and labeling. By being mindful of these criteria, you can confidently choose honey that not only satisfies your taste buds but also meets your standards for quality and authenticity.
Top Brands and Products: The Best Raw Honey on the Market

Honey has been a big part of our life be it our kitchen or our temples, honey has been there since the ancient times. Honey is a sweet liquid that bees produce using nectar from flowers. Honeycomb is the place where a mass of hexagonal prismatic wax cells built by honey bees in their nests to contain their larvae and stores of honey and pollen.
The benefits of honey are hidden from the world as it is used even as a medicine around the world. People throughout the world have hailed the health benefits of honey for thousands of years.
What are the health benefits of honey?
Antioxidants:
Honey contains antioxidants, which can protect the body from inflammation. Inflammation can lead to a variety of health issues, including heart disease, cancer, and autoimmune disorders. (According to a study antioxidants found in buckwheat honey were detectable in blood plasma proving that honey could increase the level of antioxidants in the body)
Cough Relief for Children:
Many health authorities do not recommend the use of modern medicine on younger children. Some parents may look for natural remedies. In one study, two teaspoons of honey relieved children’s nighttime cough and allowed them to sleep. However, doctors do not recommend this practice for children less than a year old.
Better for blood sugar levels than regular sugar:
It might help in maintaining the blood sugar level better than normal white sugar. The antioxidants in honey reduce the inflammation and helps control the blood sugar level, but be it anything in life it should be used in moderation.
Improves heart health:
It may help lower blood pressure, improve blood fat levels, regulate your heartbeat, and prevent the death of healthy cells — all factors that can improve your heart function and health.
Promotes burn and wound healing:
As said honey has been used since the ancient times both for its taste and its medical qualities. In the ancient india honey was used to heal burns and wounds. Honey is also an effective treatment for diabetes-related foot ulcers, which are serious complications that can lead to amputation.

When finalizing your emergency preparedness plans, you should also spend time building your stockpile of survival supplies. It's also best to get a variety of bartering items so you can get more supplies as needed in a post-SHTF world.
If you're not sure what to stock up on, you can buy extra food supplies and versatile items like raw manuka honey, which offers several health benefits and has a long shelf life. (h/t to SurvivalFrog.com)
Tips for choosing the best barter items
Bartering refers to the act of trading goods or services in exchange for others without using money as payment. When the grid goes down, even your prepping stockpile may run out of certain items, which is why bartering is a crucial part of your preps.
Think of stocking items to barter as one way to shock-proof your SHTF plans. If you need essential supplies and you have other things to barter with, trade for items that you don't have in your stockpile.
If possible, try to stock up on items that you can easily make or produce so that you won't run out of them. If this isn't an option, you can also get items with the highest trade value, such as necessities that people can’t live without.
This includes essential bartering items such as:
Batteries
First aid supplies
Food
Grooming supplies
Lighters and matches
Medicine
Soap
Toilet paper
Toiletries
Water
Water filters and filtration tablets
However, all of these valued items, especially clean water and food, are also things that you may want to keep for your family. These items will quickly fly off the shelves after a large-scale disaster.
If you want to build a barter kit and stockpile certain items to trade, they need to last a long time. Small items like manuka honey are also great since you can store more of them. They are also easier to transport.

World Honey Bee Day
These little creatures are nature's buzzworthy superstars! They're responsible for pollinating a third of our food supply and creating delicious honey.
We often take nature for granted. We don’t think about the pivotal role that all of life’s creatures play. However, World Honey Bee Day gives you the perfect opportunity to pay honor to the incredible honey bee. Read on to discover everything you need to know about this day, as well as the critical role that honey bees play in our everyday lives.
Learn about World Honey Bee Day
World Honey Bee Day is an awareness day whereby honey bee enthusiasts, beekeeping associations and clubs, and beekeepers celebrate the honey bee. It is a day to recognize the contribution that honey bees make to our everyday lives, as well as learning about the different steps that we can take in order to protect this vital species. On World Honey Bee Day, we also pay homage to beekeepers. After all, it is their efforts that make sure that there are healthy and well-managed bees to pollinate crops.
The health benefits of honey
Of course, honey bees provide us with honey, and this is one of the many reasons why we should be thankful for them! Honey is a golden, thick liquid, which is produced by bees using the nectar of plants that are flowering. The kind of flowers that bees visit will impact the texture, smell, and taste of the honey, resulting in different types of honey, including orange blossom, clover, acacia, and manuka honey.
There are a lot of nutritional benefits that are associated with adding a bit of honey to your diet. High-quality honey offers a number of benefits because of the antioxidants that are included. These include phenolic compounds, such as flavonoids, as well as organic acids. The antioxidants that are found in honey have been linked to lowering the risk of strokes, heart attacks, and some forms of cancer. They are also believed to assist in terms of eye health.
There have also been studies that have shown that honey can help to improve your cholesterol levels. If you have high LDL cholesterol levels, then you are going to be at a greater risk of having heart disease. This sort of cholesterol plays a massive role in atherosclerosis, which is the fatty buildup in your arteries that can cause strokes and heart attacks as well. There are more and more studies that are showing that honey can help to enhance your cholesterol levels. This is because it significantly raises the good HDL cholesterol while lowering the total of bad LDL cholesterol.
Honey cannot only benefit you in terms of consuming it, but it has been used for many years as a topical treatment for healing burns and wounds. In fact, this can be dated back to Ancient Egypt. Researchers have concluded that the healing powers of honey come from the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects it has, as well as its ability to nourish the tissue that surrounds the wounded area.
Bees are disappearing
Bees are critical to our daily living, yet they are in decline on a worldwide scale. This is because they face a number of different threats. The use of toxic pesticides is one of these threats. They are also at risk due to habitat loss, as there has been an increase in invasive farming methods and urban developments, meaning that places that honey bees used to call home do not exist anymore. In honor of World Honey Bee Day, it is good to do your bit in order to raise awareness regarding the risks that honey bees all around the world face and the steps that we can take in order to help them. You can begin by researching this issue so that you can find more information about the different challenges that bees face and the reasons why their population is on the decline. By doing this, you will then be able to educate others and we can all do our bit to make sure that the number of bees starts to increase again, rather than decline.
History of World Honey Bee Day
World Honey Bee Day, previously known as Honey Bee Awareness Day, is an idea put together by beekeepers in the USA, who petitioned the USDA in 2009 for an official day to honor honey bees and beekeeping. A few years down the line, people across the globe are holding a date of observation every year.
The organizers of the event, on the concept of the World Honey Bee Day, have said:
Bring together beekeepers, bee associations, as well as other interested groups to connect with the communities to advance beekeeping. By working together and harnessing the efforts that so many already accomplish, and [by] using a united effort one day a year, the rewards and message is magnified many times over. We encourage bee associations, individuals, and other groups to get involved. The program is free and open to all.
How to celebrate World Honey Bee Day
Honey Bee awareness enthusiasts will likely put a bee in your bonnet and say this is not so much a day to celebrate honey bees, as it is to promote their involvement in sustainable farming.
On this day, bee lovers everywhere decorate their gardens with lavender, borage, and marjoram, the bee’s knees in pollinator lures. If you have the time and patience, bake some honey chippers and make your own honey fruit cobbler.
We also recommend that you take the time to learn more about the honey bee on this day and how we can all do our bit in order to provide them with a supportive environment. When we plant orchards, wildflowers, and other types of flowering plants, we are supporting pollinators, which includes honey bees. Honey bees depend on the nectar of different plants in order to survive. We also need to recognize that we depend on honey bees for our own survival. After all, if they did not pollinate, a lot of the nutritious plants that we need would not reproduce. It’s all about the circle of life, and we should do our bit to help other specious along the way.
Another way to celebrate World Honey Bee Day is by enjoying a honey-based treat. There are lots of different options for you to choose from. Whether you’re looking for a tasty dessert or you want to incorporate honey into your main meal, we have got you covered. Here are some tasty suggestions to consider: honey-roast confit of duck, honey cake, vanilla and honey madeleines, stir-fried pork with honey and ginger, salted honey fudge and chocolate tart, honey mustard grilled salmon, homemade crumpets with burnt honey butter, and crispy honey buffalo wings. Is your mouth watering yet?
And because you’ve been as busy as a bee all day, sit back and watch Hitchcock’s ‘The Bees’. You’ll count your blessings honey bees are nothing like South American killer bees!

Why, why would you make mead out of Manuka honey?
There is a crazy person on r/mead doing this.
That shit is so, so fucking expensive.
It's sold for its health benefits, namely that it's got significantly more "bio-active" anti-microbial enzymes than the average honey.
I think if you really want to take advantage of its health benefits you should probably be using it for wound healing, not necessarily consuming it. Maybe it might help more with a sore throat than regular honey.
You know what doesn't help with a sore throat? Drinking alcohol. The fermentation process is going to destroy most if not all of the medicinal properties the honey has. So why brew it?
The taste?
It tastes weird. Kind of medicinal. A bit of an acquired taste, as honeys go. Not my favorite. If you want to make weird tasting mead with weird tasting honey, there are so many less expensive weird tasting honeys you could use, like buckwheat for example.

manuka honey (and honey in general but i geuss manuka is the purest?) is anti microbial so applying it to an open fragile wound helps with healing. it also has a high sugar content which they said draws the excess moisture from the wound which is helpful since the labia tends to be a wet area.
my dr said the real expensive 70$ ones are bs tho and show no benefits over the like $20 one u can get on amazon or like target

Home Remedies for Hidradenitis Suppurativa
Tumblr media
Managing hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) involves an assortment of complications. This chronic inflammatory skin illness produces various symptoms — among them, painful abscesses in skin folds that leak and give off a foul odor — each of which may need to be treated with individually.
What’s more, “Some individuals [with HS] are disappointed with standard therapy. They may be weary of using antibiotics or other treatments, or they’re worried about long-term adverse effects,” says Rita O. Pichardo, MD, a dermatologist at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, who runs a clinic for HS patients.
For that reason, many seek to alternative remedies to assist control the disease. In fact, according to data published in January 2020 in JAMA Dermatology, this is the case for roughly 84 percent of persons who have HS.
As is common with alternative medical therapies, most that have been advertised to help treat HS have not been proved to work, but few have a considerable lot of anecdotal evidence to back them up and may be worth trying, with a dermatologist’s direction. “HS is like a jigsaw, and we have various parts to manage it — and every piece counts,” explains Dr. Pichardo.
1. Aloe Vera
The thick, meaty leaves of this succulent contain a gel that’s utilized for a multitude of medical uses. It may hydrate dry skin, relieve sunburns, and reduce inflammation and itching. It’s commonly added to lotions, creams, and other items.
What it does: Although aloe vera hasn’t been demonstrated to cure HS wounds, it may help reduce discomfort, because to its cooling characteristics, adds Pichardo.
How to utilize it: You may collect the aloe vera gel by creating a longitudinal incision in a leaf and squeezing it out. Apply the gel to damaged skin and cover with gauze.
2. Diluted Bleach
When used full strength, bleach is applied to laundry to brighten whites and to cleaning solutions to kill germs. As it turns out, it may also help treat several skin diseases, including HS.
What it does: Bleach may help dry up areas of HS that are seeping. It’s also an antibiotic that may help prevent open abscesses from becoming infected.
How to apply it: It may seem nearly deadly to purposefully put bleach on your skin, but it only takes a little to be effective. Pichardo suggests diluting a quarter cup of household bleach in a full tub of bathwater. “Soak for 10 to 15 minutes, three times a week,” she advises.
3. Epsom Salts
Epsom salts are naturally occurring mineral salts that include magnesium and sulfate. It’s affordable and simple to obtain at pharmacies, supermarkets, and other places, as well as online.
What it does: Proponents believe the minerals in Epsom salts are absorbed into the skin, but there’s little proof that’s true. But, Pichardo notes, “An Epsom salt bath may help dry the pus coming from HS lesions, and it will assist overall with inflammation.”
How to utilize it: Create a bath soak by adding roughly one and a quarter cups of Epsom salts to a full tub of water. Pichardo also suggests you may wet a clean towel with a mix of Epsom salts and warm water to use as a compress, applied directly on lesions.
4. Honey
The honey you pour over toast or into tea may have advantages that extend beyond sweetening. “There are anecdotal indications honey may aid with HS,” adds Pichardo, “and I’ve had patients tell me it has benefited them.”
What it does: Honey, especially a kind called manuka, “is antibacterial, it has healing effects, and it is anti-inflammatory,” she explains. Laboratory studies have uncovered evidence to show honey is able to modify the skin’s immune system. It’s even used to cure infected wounds.
How to utilize it: Honey may be used a various ways for HS, adds Pichardo. “You may apply it directly to lesions on its own or use a combination of honey and turmeric. You may also take it by mouth, either alone or combined with tea or another beverage.”
5. Turmeric
Turmeric is a brilliant yellow spice that provides a vibrant addition to curry powder, stews, marinades, sauces, and more.
What it does: Turmeric has been identified in studies to have various possible health advantages, including anti-inflammatory and antibacterial characteristics, and is widely used to help treat inflammation in dermatology and rheumatology, adds Pichardo.
How to use it: Turmeric pills are available at pharmacies, health food shops, and online. Look for a supplement that combines turmeric with piperine, the active element in black pepper, since this common pantry item has been discovered in tests to boost the absorption of curcumin — and has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity itself. Powdered turmeric also may be combined with water to produce a paste, which you can apply directly on HS lesions,” adds Pichardo.
6. Vicks VapoRub
This over-the-counter ointment is often used as a cough suppressant when breathed in or to reduce aches and pains when put on tight muscles.
What it does: Some individuals who have HS report Vicks VapoRub may help alleviate discomfort when applied directly to sores. This may be owing to its active ingredients: camphor, eucalyptus, and menthol.
Among the inactive components, nutmeg oil may help decrease swelling and kill germs, while thyme oil, an antifungal, may alleviate itching surrounding lesions, according to hopeforhs.org, a nonprofit group focusing on education about and activism around hidradenitis suppurativa. Many patients also prefer the strong menthol and eucalyptus aroma, which may help cover odors connected to HS, Pichardo explains.
How to use it: Vicks VapoRub is not authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat HS, thus there are no medically sanctioned rules for how to use it. Most individuals apply a small coating to closed lesions and cover it with a bandage. The crucial thing to remember is that Vicks VapoRub should never be used to open or draining abscesses, adds Pichardo.
7. Zinc
Zinc is a vital trace element that helps strengthen up the immune system, promotes wound healing, and may even help minimize the intensity of colds. Most individuals require just a modest quantity each day: According to the National Institutes of Health, healthy adult men require 11 milligrams (mg) of zinc per day, while females need 8 mg. It’s present in foods that are abundant in protein, such as oysters, lobster, crab, beef, chicken, and beans, as well as mushrooms.
What it does: According to Pichardo, zinc may assist control the immune system. It also is occasionally prescribed for easing inflammation and swelling.
How to use it: Oral zinc supplements are included in the lifestyle factors and alternative therapy suggestions for HS, however the evidence of their usefulness is minimal. “I prescribe 90 to 100 milligrams of zinc gluconate daily,” adds Pichardo. “The over-the-counter medications are normally 50 mg apiece, so take two of those.”
Should You Try a Home Remedy for HS?
If you aren’t content with your present treatment, you may want to speak to your doctor about adding an alternate therapy to your existing regimen. According to a research published in October 2021 in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, which compared orthodox HS treatments to alternative therapy, “People who utilize alternative treatments report a greater quality of life.” (Pichardo coauthored the study.)
Keep a number of things in mind, however. One is cost: Nearly half of persons with HS who utilize unorthodox therapies report spending anywhere from $11 to $50 a month, and 1 in 4 spend $50 to $100.
The other is safety and effectiveness. “More research on alternative treatments and HS are needed,” adds Pichardo. In her own practice, she leverages the experiences of her patients, available research, and the qualities of various treatments to inform recommendations.
Check with your personal dermatologist before you attempt anything new to cure HS. They may help you figure out which home remedies may show the greatest promise for you and are safe to use with your present medication.
