ideal type hcs ; disney princesses
Tumblr media
requested by ; anonymous (12/06/22)
fandom(s) ; disney animated films
fandom masterlist(s) ; here
character(s) ; anna, ariel, aurora, belle, cinderella, elsa, jasmine, merida, moana, mulan, pocahontas, rapunzel, snow white, tiana
outline ; “Could you do a headcanons for the Disney princesses ideal types, and what they look for in a partner?”
warning(s) ; none, just fluff!
anna
anna would prioritise kindness and empathy in a partner above all else — someone who will stick their neck out to protect or help someone else without the expectation of a reward
someone who is capable on their own but who knows when to ask for help, and that isn’t too proud to admit their mistakes
someone who she can have fun with to escape the unending monotony and responsibility of royal life — but who will also stick by her side when the time comes to be serious
someone who loves her for who she is and not the money and status she represents
and bonus points if you get her big sister’s approval
ariel
ariel would pursue a partner who makes the effort to try and understand her — who will push through barriers (emotional, physical, linguistic) in order to make her feel heard and loved
someone who she can have fun with without being made to feel irresponsible or childish — who isn’t afraid to act foolish or silly with her
someone who is affectionate with her, who can match her need for physical touch and such without her needing to beg
someone who isn’t afraid to take risks and do dangerous things if it’s for something you love — be that her or one of your passions
someone who is open and honest with her, who doesn’t belittle or infantilise her — who includes her in the conversation rather than brushing over what she has to offer
a lover who is as in love with the world and with life as they are with her
aurora
aurora would want a partner who is, above anything else, kind — kind to others, kind to the world and kind to themself
someone who isn’t afraid to laugh at themselves but who will always lend a hand or an ear to those who need it
someone who is honest and genuine, but who knows when not to be blunt in what they’re saying — someone who thinks before acting
someone who doesn’t feel the need to rush through life, who can enjoy taking things slowly and take in the simple joys — thinks like freshly made bread and the grass between your toes
she’d want a partner who she could be briar rose with rather than someone who’d expect her to just be princess aurora
belle
belle would look for a partner who is always willing to learn and grow — to change and adapt to the world without getting stuck in their ways
someone who she can joke around with and make fun of without receiving anything but full reciprocation in return — someone who isn’t afraid to be the butt of a joke every now and then
someone who is honest and open, someone who is comfortable around her enough to be honest and who trusts her enough to be open — which she’d reciprocate in a heartbeat
someone who takes the time to get to know her mind rather than stopping at her face — who sees her as an equal and not just a future wife
someone who can be themselves around her and who she can be herself around without judgement or hesitation — just love and folly and conversation
cinderella
ella is the type who would look for a partner that she can be herself around — someone who loves her for all of her passions and eccentricities and that doesn’t expect her to be perfect
someone who appreciates and accepts her independence, never pushing her into any specific role, without forcing her back into the position of complete isolation she was in growing up
someone who can make her laugh but that won’t shy away from her when she’s upset — who accepts her in her entirety rather than only sticking around when she’s happy
someone who holds respect and empathy for everyone no matter their background or appearance — who would have treated her kindly even when she was a house servant
all in all, ella would want a partner who loves her for her and who she doesn’t feel the need to hide parts of herself around — someone who lets her come into her own as a person whilst the relationship progresses
elsa
elsa would want a partner who understands her — who takes the time to learn her boundaries and respects them without question, as she would for them in return
someone who gets her hesitance and isn’t afraid of her because of her gift — they don’t have to admire it or be in awe, just see it as a part of her
someone who doesn’t mind the cold and who won’t force her to stifle herself again
someone who loves her family (chosen and given) as much as they can — who adores anna, jokes with kristoff and who respects the legacy and memory of her parents
she’d want someone who she can have fun with but that isn’t opposed to discussing things that are serious when needed
jasmine
jasmine values a partner who is spontaneous but not in an actively dangerous way — like they enjoy adventure but not putting other people in harm’s way
someone who is fun and adventurous and who is eager and able to show her the world beyond the walls she grew up in
someone unlike all of the stuffy, pompous suitors that come filing in and out of the palace doors every day
someone who isn’t afraid to be unique and affectionate and silly and childish no matter the company
oh and someone who likes cats because raja is here to stay
merida
merida looks for a partner who is as independent as her and who isn’t going to expect her to be reliant on them
someone who is capable on their own and able to handle themselves if the worst happens — whether that’s a war or a loss in the family
someone who loves her family or at the very least makes the effort to get along with them
someone who isn’t afraid to argue and bicker, who doesn’t expect everything to be all roses and sunshine all of the time and bails when things start to not look so perfect
someone who has a good sense of humour and is able to match her wit and jokes without taking offense
but most of all: someone who is looking for a life partner to have fun with, not someone to be subservient to them
moana
moana would seek out a partner who is able to match her energy and mind — who she can talk to without limiting or censoring herself
someone who respects tradition and routine without abandoning or scorning any chance of change and growth — who will support her in bringing her village to a new age of exploration
someone who is willing to step outside of their comfort zone every now and then, but who is able to tell her when they have reached their limit — someone who can be honest with her and who she can be honest with in return
someone who she can bounce ideas off of and who will come back with new routes and theories and concepts that she can bring to the community for approval
she’d want someone who is their own person and respects her independence, but who she can come together with to become better in one way or another — a partner that encourages her growth, not one that hinders or stunts it
mulan
mulan would value a partner who isn’t afraid to be daring and step outside of their comfort zone — someone who balances routine/expectations and growth/adventure in a similar way to herself
someone who isn’t afraid to challenge her and themselves — who is willing to make mistakes and stumble without giving up entirely
someone who loves adventure and taking risks, but that can also enjoy the quieter and plainer aspects of domestic life — cups of tea, star gazing and reading
someone who loves her for her — not for the warrior nor the maiden but for the woman behind that legend
she’d also want someone who respects her and her family without being a complete doormat who is unwilling to speak for themselves — independence mixed with politeness
pocahontas
pocahontas would look for a partner who is willing to learn and grow and isn’t too caught up in themselves and the past to do so
someone who is willing to be patient and listen to the world around them in order to understand it — the water, the wild life, the wind
someone who won’t stifle her need for adventure and who will help her explore the world — travelling together to see more of the world with open minds and open hearts
someone who will stick with her through it all — protecting, listening, learning and growing as a couple and as individuals through the good and bad parts of life
someone who isn’t too proud to be kind or too stuck up to have fun and make mistakes — because that’s what life is about
rapunzel
rapunzel would appreciate a partner who is able to match her enthusiasm and passion for life — or, at the very least, someone who can understand it
someone who isn’t afraid to let their guard down and get their hands dirty — who is happy to let loose and have fun
someone who will listen to her without judgement and who will support her when she’s at her lowest — and that won’t turn her down when she tries to help
someone that doesn’t yell or lie, someone that approaches arguments clearly and honestly — who sees it as ‘us vs the problem’ and not ‘me vs you’
someone who is able to let themselves be silly and stupid and childish and not feel the need to be serious and sad all of the time — someone who is able to be their full self around her
really, she just wants someone to be herself around who won’t judge her for it
snow white
snow would probably find gentleness an attractive trait in a potential partner — that and a willingness to be kind without the expectation of receiving any reward for it
she’s a gentle soul and wouldn’t be compatible with someone who is volatile or combative — especially during disagreements where she tries to seek out a compromise and speak concisely (us vs problem) instead of raising her voice and trying to be right (me vs you)
someone who can let go of their ego when necessary and let themselves be wrong when they’re wrong — someone who is reflective enough to know when they’ve made a mistake
someone who loves animals or who at the very least treats them with empathy and tries to help out where they can
someone who is honest with her but not blunt — being open without being cruel
oh and someone who loves her cooking and baking as that’s how she shows her love
tiana
tiana would look for someone who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty — who is willing to put in work to get what they want rather than just expecting everyone to do everything for them
she needs someone who is independent but that works well with others as well, a team player who doesn’t need to be told what to do in order to get things done
someone who will stick by her through the tough times — providing emotional support and labour when needed without judgement — instead of someone who will just lay low and only be with her during the good bits of life
someone who isn’t afraid to admit when they’re wrong and who isn’t too proud to be emotional and vulnerable — she needs honesty, really
or, in other words, she needs someone who understands and trusts her and that she can trust in return

Tumblr media
I saw this and had a lot of thoughts and feelings about it, so I decided to write something up.
Ok yes, I completely agree with the female side of this. They were not looking for love and marriage but something greater than themselves and the small worlds they occupied.  I think Cinderella was open to marriage and love to get out of her miserable existence, and wanted to go to the ball not only to get out of the house, but because every eligible maiden in the kingdom was to attend.  And she’s a rule follower, clearly, since she obeys her stepmother and stepsister’s every command. (Granted if she didn’t she’d be thrown out probably.)
The men on the other hand, I’m not convinced all of these men wanted marriage, or only wanted marriage.  The Beast basically wanted to be left alone.  He knew he had to find love to break the curse but by the time Belle came along he seemed pretty resigned to that never happening.  While his staff clearly wanted Belle around to hopefully break the spell, I don’t think the Beast agreed to trade her for her father for that reason.  He was scared of the outside world and its judgment of him, and found Maurice’s intrusion threatening.  And by that point had become so beastly that all he knew was anger and violence.  (A great metaphor for the only acceptable masculine emotions and actions.)  So he kept him and then her as a prisoner until his staff said, maybe this could do something and he gave in to them.
With Prince Eric and Prince Charming, I think marriage was what was expected of them because of their titles and the time periods.  Eric seemed much more interested in adventure and exploration than in romance and marriage.  And when he thought he’d found the woman that saved his life it was just the thing to do to marry her.  And the King was the one pushing Charming to get married and set up the ball for that purpose.  We don’t really get much personality from him so I can’t say he didn’t want that but we don’t get a sense that that’s his sole goal.
I completely understand that Disney and fairy tales give people unrealistic expectations of love.  And yes to us now it’s ridiculous to “fall in love” almost instantly.  But we forget that most of these tales come from a time when your options were limited or decided for you.  And marriage wasn’t about love necessarily, it was procreation and expectation, and for the woman security.  Eric found a girl who cared enough to save him so of course marrying her makes sense.  Then when he finds out it's also the girl who also seemed to enjoy adventure like him and captivated him for the last few days, well win-win. Charming found a woman he could stand for more than 10 minutes after meeting all the women in the kingdom, so sure she’ll do.  The Beast and Belle are more realistic because it’s clear they got to know each other over a longer period of time.  It feels like months have probably passed.  And they found similar interests with the library.  That being said, they all waited until they found someone they genuinely liked, even if they knew immediately.  The timeline is unrealistic and so is the image of perfection that’s created with these romances.  Things in reality won’t be perfect and the connection won’t be immediate.  But I also feel like these stories of “true love” also gave me a desire not to settle.
I understand the point that this post is trying to make, and it is a good one.  There is much to be said about most things being shown through the male gaze and patriarchy.  And yes, as a society we forget/don’t care about the wants of women.  But I honestly feel like using these fairy tales as an example of that misses the point of many of these stories.  Sure Ariel married Eric, but a life on land and then a life with him was what she wanted in the story.  The whole story is about what she wanted.  And how she had to give up her voice to be heard.  And yes Belle was kept as a prisoner at first, and her story can be likened to Stockholm Syndrome of course.  Though once the Beast learned to love her he let her go and she chose to return. As a little girl growing up with these stories, sure I learned that love and marriage is the goal.  But I also learned from Belle that it’s ok to be different, to want more for your life than what you’ve been given, and to fight for what you believe in.  First she fought for her father’s wellbeing and then stood up to the town to defend the Beast.  I learned from Ariel that curiosity can take you to great places, that there’s always more to learn, and that we don’t need to be afraid of what we don’t know. Cinderella taught me that even when life is unfair or hard, to try to have a positive attitude and hope for a better future, and to ask for what you want.  She asked to go to the ball and tried so hard to make that happen even when the odds were stacked against her.
And honestly these men taught me things too.  The Beast taught me that people can change when given support.  Prince Charming and Prince Eric taught me to never give up searching for your dreams.
We absolutely need to talk more about the wants and desires of women.  And we need to stop putting marriage as the end goal for everyone.  But let’s not put these fairy tales in an anti-feminist box without exploring the nuances.  And maybe let’s use more real world examples of how patriarchy erases the desires of women and makes them into objects for the purposes of men and their desires.  Because there are plenty of those, and by using real examples we give kids (and adults) more practical and tangible problems to be aware of.

This might be a weird question, but in a One Piece X Disney Princess crossover, which Disney Princess would be romantically paired to which of the OP boys? More specifically Luffy, Law, Koby, Sabo, Zoro, Sanji, and Ace.
Op Boys paired with Disney princesses
Warning:(This was just base on my on perspectives, don't hate me for this)
Feat:Luffy, Rapunzel, Law, Elsa, Koby, Belle, Sabo, Mulan, Zoro, Merida, Sanji, Ariel, Ace, Jasmine
Tumblr media
Luffy|Rapunzel
Luffy's adventurous and carefree nature matches well with Rapunzel's curiosity and desire to explore the world. They would embark on exciting journeys together, with Rapunzel's long hair serving as a handy tool for Luffy's rubbery antics.
Law|Elsa
Law's serious demeanor and cool-headedness align well with Elsa's ice powers and her need to control them. They would understand each other's struggles with isolation and find comfort in each other's company, ultimately learning to embrace their uniqueness together.
Koby|Belle
Koby's gentle and kind-hearted nature resonates with Belle's compassionate and intelligent personality. They would bond over their love for books and share a desire to make positive changes in the world, supporting and inspiring each other along the way.
Sabo|Mulan
Sabo's strong sense of justice and loyalty pairs well with Mulan's bravery and determination. They would fight side by side, challenging societal norms and embracing their true identities. Their shared values would create a strong foundation for their relationship.
Zoro|Merida
Zoro's fierce determination and unwavering loyalty align with Merida's independent and adventurous spirit. They would engage in friendly competitions and push each other to be the best versions of themselves, all while cherishing their shared love for adventure.
Sanji|Ariel
Sanji's romantic and chivalrous nature matches well with Ariel's longing for freedom and desire to explore the unknown. They would share a love for the sea, with Sanji cooking up delicious seafood dishes for Ariel, and she, in turn, introducing him to the wonders of the underwater world.

Ace's fiery personality and protective nature pair well with Jasmine's strong will and desire for independence. They would embark on daring adventures together, fighting for justice and freedom. Their shared determination would create a passionate and powerful bond.

disney princess worrying about their girlfriends not taking care of themselves
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Masterlist | Rules | Taglist | Library | More Disney | AO3
synopsis: They understand that you think you are doing the right thing. They really do. Turns out that it doesn't make it any less worrying how you simply forget to take care of yourself and focus on taking care of them. That needs to change, and Tiana, Belle and Ariel aren't known for giving up easily.
warnings: waitress!reader x tiana. beast!reader x belle. human!reader x ariel. fluff. hurt/comfort. female!reader.
Tumblr media
Tiana
• You were one of the first hired, which made you see many of the difficulties that Tiana had to face. From ignorant customers to structural problems, you've seen it all. But not just the problems, you saw Tiana's determination to manage everything. She never gave up, and deep down you knew she never would.
• And although you had never seen someone as determined as her, what really surprised you was how Tiana never treated anyone as inferior. You never saw her yell at anyone, even over the most grotesque mistakes. Even in situations where you would have screamed. Tiana deserved the world.
• All it took to change the boss/employee relationship to something more complicated was a longer shift, torrential rain, and the lack of an umbrella. That night you spent hours talking, laughing, forgetting about life's problems.
• As her girlfriend, your admiration turned to concern. How did Tiana think it was healthy to work so much? Or how could she stay so calm while being disrespected? How could Tiana move forward and ignore the tiredness in her body?
• You started to intervene. Entitle clients? You deal with it. Problems in the kitchen? You talk to the chefs. Did the distributors let Tiana down? You will spend the night on long calls, writing down protocols, shouting out data that the answering service never wrote down.
• But you weren't the only one paying attention to this relationship. Tiana saw you too, and she understood what you were doing. She saw you sleeping less, taking care of yourself less, paying less attention. Tiana doesn't want you to wear yourself out helping her, she wants you to be happy. And Tiana won't be able to be happy until you are.
• As your boss, Tiana abused this power. She took your restaurant key, denied you entry to the kitchen and started kicking you out whenever you got close to your stopping time. If you wouldn't stop yourself, then Tiana would take care of it.
• When Tiana understood what motivated you, she gave in. She stopped working so much overtime, demanding so much, and only thinking about work. Only then did Tiana realize that in order to take care of you, she would need to take care of herself.
• That made her even more sure about her love for you. What a dream. To fight because your girlfriend care so much about you.
Belle
• Your relationship didn't start out easy. Now you can assume that part of it — most, actually— was you fault. You did things you shouldn't. Things that only made it harder for Belle. She had all the right in the world to hate you.
• But after she ran away from you, things changed. Evolved. You saved her, and she saved you. Belle could've let you there on the snow, but she didn't. She showed her true colors to you, and you couldn't help but to get drunk on it.
• Belle is kind. You saw how your mobile talk about her. And you also saw how she treat them, how sweet she can be. Belle is fair. When you treat her badly, she didn't let you go away with it. When you saved her, she saved you. When you changed your behavior and got better as a person, she turned into a friend. And Belle is brave. That one surprised you. She is amazing.
• To let Belle go save her father was the easiest and most difficult choice you ever made. Easiest because you could never act another way, and difficult because of the same reason. You can't make her love you or stay, but you can love her and make sure that she'll be happy. Not as close as what you want, but all you can have.
• So when those vile villagers invaded your house, the last thing you thought was that she would come back to you. A animal. You were just a beast. Not a woman anymore. Not someone that deserved respect, and that could be loved. When that man hurted you, chased you throught your house, the last thing you thought you would see was Belle. But you did.
• She came back to you. She chose to help you. To protect you. She chose you, without even knowing you had the chance of being a woman again, even without knowing if you would stay alive till the end of the life.
• Then you were human again. Someone, not something. Your people, your castle, everything got better. Changed to what it really was. You were human, what means that Belle loves you. That she truly loves you.
• The beginning was difficult, but she helped. She always does that. She cut your hair to your liking, helped you with your bath, helped you learn how to eat as a person again. Belle was perfect. She always is.
• Now better, you chose to be the person she deserves. You gave her your love, a library, a place to grow old. But she deserved so much more than that. Belle deserved to live her dreams, to get things done, to live a life worthy a novel.
• You spend days and nights planning. How could you make her happier? How could you make her glad she came back to you? How could you make it up for the fact that you were you?
• You took her in so many travels. You both traveled the world. From forests to great cities, from beaches to mountains, from old towns to uncovered lands. You did everything so she would have her happy ending.
• Even things you didn't really wanted to do. Height was a problem for you, but you did went up mountains so she could smile to you. You hate from the bottom of your heart hot places with insects drinking your blood, but you pretend not to care. For her, you would do anything.
• Apparently you're not a good actress, because quickly Belle called you out. You tried to lie, to pretend to be even more happy than you actually were, but she didn't fell for it. When she asked you were you wanted to go next, you tried lying again. "Whenever you want to, dear" didn't convinced her. "South America" made Belle roll her eyes. "Germany" ended up with Belle yelling for you to say the true.
• Back at home, you were feeling like shit. How could you fail at something so easy? Not even you as a woman again could make her happy. What would be enough? How can you be enough?
• When you told that to her, for a second you thought Belle would slap you across your face. Not even when Gaston hurted you she got so mad. She yelled at you for what looked like hours. You yelled back at her because... mostly because you like to yell at people.
• Belle told you that if you ever did something you don't want to just because you guess that will make her happy she will burn the library down and never read for you again. That shut you up.
• But that same night, Belle spend hours with you on the bath and ate with a book between you both. Looking at her eyes, you saw how they glowed. How they shone like a million stars. How she was truly happy because of her dear book. Because of you. If that's enought for her... Maybe it is hee happy ending. Maybe you already got to yours.
Ariel
• Ariel loves humans, but you are for sure her favorite one. No one could ever beat you. Not how adventurous you are, they way you want to be part of the sea just as she wants to be part of earth. Not how kind you were, helping her when she could speak just because you could. Or how patient you were when teaching her about your life. Or how fucking brave you were as you got into your ship and killed a gigantic Ursula to save her and her father.
• So when she overheard a conversation in which you said you're not enough for her... Ariel got so confused. How could you ever think that way about yourself? How dared you speak about yourself like that?
• She didn't said anything because she didn't want to embarrass you or anything like that, if you wanted to talk about that with her you would have done it already, but Ariel started to pay more attention to you. To see if she can understand your fear.
• As a princess, you had so many things to care about. Your people, your country, yourself. Not only that, but you were trying to explore the sea. To learn more about it. You almost don't sleep. You don't have time to do anything. You have time to yourself.
• Then Ariel understood. You think that because you can't be with her all the time that means... Ariel never thought you were so stupid. What are her? A toddler? You think she is a "away from the rest eyes, away from the mind" kind of person? Not even when she was a little mermaid she was like that!
• So to prove to you that you're enough (and she's not a child), Ariel took a adult decision. She started to help you with your work. That way she spend more time with you, and could also make you rest more often. She even asked Sebastian to help her, he's the smartess crustracious she knows.
• You did notice she was up to something, but you thought she just wanted to be more active. You could never imagine Ariel was trying to help you. What don't mean she didn't.
• Looks like Ariel is get her work done without saying anything. But that's just a guess.

Prompt: Ariel and Eric in the library, asking each other when they did realize their feelings for each other.
Thank you for this lovely prompt! I had so much fun writing it. I hope you enjoy.
the same hiding place
Summary:
“Do you ever miss your little mermaid?” Ariel wonders aloud.
“What do you mean? She’s right here.”
Read on Ao3 here or under the cut:
It isn’t unusual for Ariel to disappear. Her curiosity is irrepressible and often sends her flitting away on abrupt adventures, well out of sight. Eric has gotten good at finding her, in a way that Sebastian never quite mastered. There’s a lot to be said for being so similar, he thinks, for being cut from the same cloth. When they’re home, it’s especially easy, because she - like him - gravitates towards the room that holds his collection.
He finds her humming softly, twirling by the bookshelf, her fingers tracing the spines. Eric spends a moment leaning on the doorframe, watching her with a tender smile on his face.
“I thought I might find you here,” he says, after a moment.
Ariel turns to him with a look of surprise. He appreciates that she is so rarely embarrassed, that surprise becomes elation whenever he takes her off guard. The joy of her smile as she comes towards him, hands already reaching, is unmistakable.
“It’s my favourite room in the castle,” Ariel admits, as she grasps his hands and pulls him back towards the shelves of artefacts.
“Mine, as well,” Eric says, grinning. “Though I’m sure you knew that.”
“I might have guessed it,” she agrees.
“I must say, our chambers have made for quite a competitor - ”
Ariel turns to him, her eyebrows raised.
“Do you disagree?” he teases her.
“I have been told that it’s unbecoming to speak of such things,” she replies, feigning primness.
“I doubt I’ll ever forgive Lashana for that.”
Ariel bursts into giggles, and the sound is so melodic, so beautiful, that Eric wants to prolong it, so raises the hand she’s clinging to and spins her beneath his arm. Her hair swings after her, soft red and abundant, landing heavily against her waist, not unlike an ocean wave.
Graceful as Ariel is, she still sometimes stumbles on her feet. Eric likes to joke that she’s only human whenever she complains about this. She might be annoyed by how it slows her down, but Eric finds her clumsiness sweet, hopes she’ll never grow out of it.
Like now, when he gets to grab her waist and steady her, to murmur, “I’ve got you.”
Ariel gazes at him with her wide eyes and bright smile, and for a moment, all he can think about is the stranger she was to him, their first time in this room. Smiles like this one had been an important means of communication when they first met. She never said a word, but Eric never had any difficulty understanding her. She had gestured and pointed and smiled and stared, and by the end of the night, he knew her well enough to adore her.
Her thoughts must be straying in a similar direction. Their dance has landed them right by the shelf on which a familiar amber crystal glitters on display.
“You must have thought I was mad,” Ariel says, softly.
“Not at all,” Eric assures her.
“Not even when I destroyed your fossil?”
“I was certainly startled, before I saw the crystal, but no.”
Ariel laughs again, dusts a hand over her face. “You’re so kind. I can only imagine how strange it was, keeping company with such an impulsive, silent stranger.”
He shakes his head, a gentle smile overcoming him as he sinks into the memories, the candlelit evening where they first connected. “It was wonderful. You were there. You remember.”
She gives this a moment of consideration, her eyes pensive and then shimmering.
“It was wonderful,” she agrees, nodding. “It felt as though my heart was being rewarded.”
Eric is intrigued by her phrasing. “For the risk you took?”
He assumes that she is referring to the deal she made with the sea witch, but when she nods, she absently touches the left side of her chest.
“Yes. The risk my heart took, letting you in,” she explains. “I felt such certainty about you, before I ever spoke to you. It was a relief to know my instincts were sound.”
The fact is that Eric understands what she is talking about precisely - these instincts exist within him, too, pulsing and sparkling and demanding proximity to Ariel. As much has been true since the moment the servants first fetched him and told him that a shipwrecked girl had been brought to the castle. He recalls the urgency with which he ascended the staircase, and knows that the thread conjoining their hearts was what pulled him along so hastily.
“I recognise that feeling,” Eric murmurs. “That instinctual, inexplicable certainty. I couldn’t understand how it was possible, but I knew I was in love after a measly two days with you.”
Ariel smiles brightly, almost smugly, but when she speaks again, she sounds vulnerable.
“Was there… a moment that you first knew?”
Oddly, the first thing that he thinks about is the marketplace, and Ariel pulling his hand and pointing towards the ground. “Sand?” he asked her, twice, before he realised that she was gesturing at the people surrounding them, at their feet, the sandals they wore. She pointed at her boots and mimed a pinching crab with her fingers, and he somehow understood.
But that wasn’t the moment that he knew. He thinks about the boat tilted up to Aries, her name written in the stars, and wants to laugh at himself, because of course it wasn’t then, either, it wasn’t when he was already done for. He recollects his saviour, a sunlit silhouette singing life back into his blood, and realises he’s gone too far back. He thinks of how breathless he had been, first seeing her in her blue dress in her borrowed bedroom, but the pull he felt towards this stranger, this stranger who could not be his saviour, had been so confusing it muffled his curiosity. He remembers the unexpected noises from the hallway and finding the door to his collection ajar, pulling apart the curtains and unsheathing sunshine to expose the intruder. He found her crouching behind a shelf, staring with enormous eyes.
“Oh. It’s you,” he had said.
Now, Eric reaches for her hand, and runs his thumb carefully over her knuckles as he pulls her towards the shelf that once held the green mermaid statue.
“I don’t believe there was one single moment that I knew,” he tells her. “It was instantaneous, from when you first sang on the beach. It was true through my doubt when I met you again. It was undeniable by the time I said goodnight on the second day.”
The tenderness in her eyes looks glossy, salty. Ariel stands on her tiptoes and winds her arms around his neck, pulling him down for a fierce hug. Eric holds her securely, one hand on her waist and the other cradling her head.
A long while passes before they begin to separate. One of his arms is still loose around her waist, his other hand on her face, wiping away her happy tears.
“Do you ever miss your little mermaid?” Ariel wonders aloud.
“What do you mean?” he asks, softly. “She’s right here.”

Disney Princesses Ideal Partners (Pt. 1)
Request: Can you do a headcanon on what all 14 Disney princess look for in a ideal partner or s/o? Maybe split it in to two parties idk
Snow White
Tumblr media
Snow White's ideal partner would be someone sweet, preferably one who loves animals
She would appreciate someone who could help her with chores and thing around the house but understands not everyone would be willing to do that
Someone she can sing/dance with and just enjoy the day with
That's really it, she doesn't have any specific physical appearance ideals or anything to demanding. She just wants someone she could share things with and who wouldn't mind sharing things with her.
As long as you have a heart of gold and treat her right, Snow White will love you
Cinderella
Tumblr media
Cinderella is a little tougher, but genuinely she just wants someone who will respect her
Since she's had to do chores and work most of her life, she might prefer someone who can either split the load or do it for her
Someone who respects her and treats her like a princess would be nice, since she often struggles to see herself as one
Like Snow White, she's not overly picky on appearance or personality as long as you're a genuinely kind person and can see the beauty in the world around you, she will love and appreciate you
Aurora
Tumblr media
Aurora would prefer someone who can make her feel safe, so maybe a more physically fit person would work best for her
She doesn't have many requirements, as long as you love and care for her, she wouldn't really mind who you are
Someone who likes to cuddle when sleeping would be appreciated
And maybe someone with a good fashion taste, because she likes to get opinions on what she's wearing
Ariel
Tumblr media
The number one rule to catch Ariel's attention is be human, so sorry to any mermen/mermaids hoping to steal her heart
Have a strong sense of adventure and be smart, she appreciates someone who can help teach her about things
But also have a strong love for the sea, her home world means a lot to her and anyone she ends up with should appreciate it as much as she does
Belle
Tumblr media
Belle prefers someone intellectual who can hold their own in a conversation about books
She doesn't want someone who will just sit around and live a boring life, she wants someone who shares her desire to see the world
She's not picky on appearance, anybody would do as long as they can put up with her bookworm tendencies
Someone who runs a bookstore or works at a library would be a plus, because she doesn't have a lot of access to books
She's a big fan of romance books, so someone who can sweep her off her feet would also be a plus
Jasmine
Tumblr media
If you're hoping to win the heart of Jasmine, good luck, she's known to be pretty picky with her suitors
Someone who doesn't treat her like an object or a prize to be won would be a good start, someone who sees her for what she really is; a smart independent woman
It wouldn't hurt if you were smart or took her out on trips
Maybe even if you were travelled and knew of far off lands, she'd love to hear all about them
She's had enough fancy gifts and jewellery to last a lifetime, so maybe leave that at home. Simply spending time with her and treating her like your equal is enough to win her over.
