correct me if i’m wrong but i can’t name a single character in bob’s burgers that wouldn’t go and see the barbie movie.

for the belcher family, it’s blatantly obvious as to why tina, gene, and linda would all go and see it.

louise would see it solely because she supports the idea of it being directed by one woman (she’s secretly a greta gerwig stan, i just know it) louise wouldn’t cry at the end like everyone else though, she’d still consider it a good movie, but nothing to cry over.

and bob would obviously be hesitant about it but go see it solely for his fam. only to end up loving it and crying alongside tina, gene, and linda.

OH and linda would ABSOLUTELY buy both bob AND gene the “I Am Kenough” hoodie. and gene and tina would go as mojo dojo casa house!ken (with the fur jacket, bandana, & double sunglasses), tina would go as cowgirl!barbie, while linda would go as rollerblading!barbie (and she’d probably use some outfit she wore for jazzercise for the costume)

louise would 100% go as oppenheimer for halloween solely for the costume. as for the movie, she doesn’t care too much about the guy but only watched it to see the bomb go off.

A few days ago my partner proposed the idea of Ginger and Jimmy Pesto's ex wife (Jimmy Jr, Andy, and Ollie's mom), being the same person.

And listen, I have been FIXATED ever since.

Have we ever seen Jimmy in the restaurant at the same time as Linda being on the phone to Ginger?

What if that's why Jimmy's such a dick to Bob, because Linda's still in Ginger's life but he isn't?

Ginger's hair and shirt colours are almost identical to Jimmy Junior and Andy, respectively.

Ginger has a partner and Jimmy Jr's museoem says "my mom's new friend Allen, is okay!"

Andy and Ollie's personalities overlap with Linda's so much, that comes from somewhere!

Linda's mystery red-headed friend in the Dreamatorium episode has an almost identical face to Andy and Ollie too! And as J-Ju looks exactly like his dad, it stands to reason that the twins would look like their mom.

Why Gene Belcher is written Profoundly Well

God, I could write a whole essay about how amazingly Bob’s Burgers tackles queer characters, but let’s focus on one queer character for now: Gene Belcher

One of the biggest things I’ve noticed about Bob’s Burgers since I’ve started watching again is how, as a queer character, Gene is written amazingly well. He may be gay, he may be trans, he may be nonbinary, but this kid is not straight. (There are 30-min video compilations to prove this.)

And I am incredibly comfortable with the ambiguity that this show holds for that. I love it. He could never be revealed to be anything, and he’s still a complete and awesome character.

It allows the writers to let Gene just explore who he is, who he might want to be, without that being (too much) the butt of the joke. What’s more is I love how Linda and Bob are written as Gene’s parents. They clearly know who their kid is and what to expect from his behavior, attitudes, and wardrobe choices.

One of my favorite Linda moments has to be when Gene has the flu, and he’s stuck in the bathroom. When we see him, he has blue eyeshadow on, and Linda casually says “Ooh, love the eyeshadow!” It may be small, but oh I loved that line.

I love that this fictional child is being nurtured to love himself, not just by his parents, but by his siblings as well.

“Time to focus on your good daughter! Gene!”

“I’m pretty!”

Not only does Gene exemplify a queer kid just being a kid, but it shows Bob and Linda as being great examples in parenting on all fronts, but mostly just by letting Gene be himself.

(And that’s not even mentioning Tina’s tendency towards polyamory…)

The Belchers and their favorite Pixar movie

Bob: Ratatouille. Yeah it's the obvious choice but I think he will relate to Remy a lot. Linda: Up. She will bawl at the beginning of the movie and spent the rest of the movie sniffling. Russell reminds her of Gene. She also really like the movie Soul.

Tina: Turning Red. She can realte to Mei. She daydreams of being in their friend group and has written FriendFiction where she and Mei are friends. Gene: Coco. A movie about a boy who wants to play music? Love it! He thinks their should be more musical numbers in all of the Pixar movies.

Louise: Toy Story. She spent several weeks trying to sneak in on her toys after she saw the movie and are still not fully convinced they are actually not alive. A lot of (other people's) toys had to suffer to make Frankenstein toys like Sid's.

(Bonus Belcher) Teddy: Cars. He made his own car-sona with help from Tina. He doesn't think Cars 2 is that bad but would never say it out loud because he knows it's an unpopular opinion.

i headcanon louise takes it the hardest once tina moves out for college. i always assumed tina would eventually get good enough grades and credit to get a scholarship to a good school and would plan to move into a dorm or her own apartment; meanwhile louise gets to take her old room, but she realizes it’s not worth the space if her older sister isn’t gonna be with her anymore.

I enjoy thinking about Rudy, Gene, and Zeke as future brothers-in-law and here's a small headcanon I came up with about that after the most recent episode:

About once a month or so the three of them and Bob get together to have dinner. Gene dreams up the entrees, Bob and Zeke do their best to make them into something good, Rudy helps however he can and offers positive feedback regardless of how it turns out (afterall, he found loaded baked potato lasagna to be "groundbreaking".)

Day 11 of Geneuary Keyboard / Candy

It’s the last day of Geneuary! This piece is inspired by a girl I went to high school with who had a similar scarf. During lunch and free times she would lay it out on the table and practice playing on it. It just makes me think that’s something Gene might do.
