Bravern Headcanon.
What if Bravern is lying about everything? He's secretly a part of the alien invasion that destroyed Tokyo.
To him, this is all a game where he can play "hero."
Everything happening on Earth is being transmitted back to his home world as a television show.

Brave Bang Bravern!: A Review for Transformers Fans
I've seen so much about this on my dash that I had to give it a try, and I gotta say, as someone who hasn't watched any new anime series since around 2008 at the most recent and I also hate the fucking military, this is a pretty good show.
THERE WILL BE SOME MILD SPOILERS. Nothing major. I'm not gonna spoil anything critical or mention characters that are introduced later etc. At of time of writing, only 6 episodes have been released.
Understanding Genre: The Trailer is A Lie
Now, while there is a trailer here, I want you to largely disregard it.
Why is that? Well, we need to talk about the "big two" robot show genres in Japan, which are as follows:
Real Robot -- This refers to a typically military setting or other serious setting, in which robots are handled as realistically as possible in terms of how they work and how they are applied. There tend to be less individual/sentient robots and more "suit" type mechs right along side human-made, more realistic machinery and mech designs, although that isn't entirely unique to this genre. Usually this stuff is labelled as sci-fi/action outside of Japan.
Super Robot (THIS IS THE SHIT TRANSFORMERS FANS GENERALLY WANT) --Essentially borderline seemingly magical robots with their own rules and in universe backstory for how they work, which isn't necessarily tied to realism. Usually this stuff is labelled as sci-fi/fantasy or space fantasy outside of Japan, since a lot of these tend to be space robots. They can be "driven" by pilots or just straight up sentient robots who are vibing with some human companions, although it's not exclusively that. It can be both, it can be neither, but no matter what, Super Robot shows are less about strict realism and more about really cool shit with robots that are basically their own people and exist according to their own rules.
Now, the trailer for BBBB (the acronym for the show is based on the Japanese title, which is Bang Brave Bang Bravern) is a COMPLETE FUCKING LIE.
It wants you to think this is going to be some dumbass GI Joe shit.
While there are elements of dumbass GI Joe shit, this is largely just to set up the premise for why shit is happening in the first place, and to help introduce the main threat (alien space creatures with fucking light beam lasers) as well as bring in our main characters under the premise of everyone having to work together to address this alien threat to Earth.
What we care about here amongst Transformers freaks is gay space robots, and this show delivers.
Getting Into Bravern: First Episode, Mild Plot Spoiler Summary
It wants you to think this is a Real Robot show.
The first episode sets things up as though it will be a Real Robot show.
There is a threat to Earth, a mystery space alien mechanical enemy, and nobody knows what the fuck to do. A military exercise between multiple nations using Titanostriders (which look very much like Shiro Masamune Appleseed-style mechs, human made in nature) to practice battle drills who are now instructed to swap over to real ammunition and go to fucking town.
Nobody knows how to do that.
They're skilled with the Titanostriders, sure, but it turns into a shit show. The alien mechanical enemies are using fucking space laser shit, it's a disaster---
--And then Bravern drops in from the fucking sky and it IMMEDIATELY TURNS INTO A SUPER ROBOT SHOW.
There's a "get in the robot, Shiji" moment where one of the Titanostrider operators, Isami Ao, is encouraged by Bravern to get inside of him.
He does. And immediately has no idea what the fuck is going on, Bravern is largely in control, and starts to blast his own theme song inside his cockpit as diegetic music while Isami is generally losing his shit, as one might do.
Humanity's reaction to Bravern is Real Robot genre type, where it is handled seriously by all the characters and organisations involved in universe, however Bravern is very much a Super Robot genre character who brings more of a Super Robot energy to the show at large.
The serious elements are mostly balanced by how fucking silly Bravern is, and there are some excellent moments in this show (currently only 6 episodes have been released) which make it entirely worth a watch.
Fun Things About Bravern Himself
Braven is very, very, very gay for his pilot.
Chances are, you've seen the screenshots of some of these moments on Tumblr already, but the delivery of these lines is magnificent.
Bravern sings his own theme song. It's the voice actor for Bravern doing the vocals, and the song itself is reminiscent of 1970s orchestrated big band energy mecha themes. For Transformers fans, it has a very Transformers Victory theme kind of vibe to it.
You gotta hear it, it fucking rules. The album cover shows Bravern holding a giant microphone.
Bravern is generally light hearted, doing his best to motivate his pilot while not hesitating to enter the action and try to defend humanity.
Now, why does Bravern care about humans so much? We don't know, but we'll talk about some mysteries in a later section below.
He is surprisingly insightful at times, while also fucking around and enjoying himself. (You may have seen screenshots going around Tumblr of Bravern with a loop of hot dogs strung around one of his chevron points on his forehead. This follows a scene in which he wants his pilot to take a break and associate with his peers for once, as a way to relieve stress. So they go to a bar, it turns out reception is positive and someone even brings weenies out for Bravern since he's too big to fit inside, lol.)
Generally, he's a very interesting mech, because we have so little information about him. He's fun, and clearly vibing, but he's also borderline if not outright obsessed with his pilot and has unknown origins, which has lead to some darker interpretations and audience discussion.
A lot of people have compared Bravern's energy to Rodimus, and generally I would agree with that. He has his high-energy silly moments, and his more serious personal moments (primarily with Isami, but also with Smith), and I think these aspects of his character work well to create a fun mech with the potential to be deep in a believable and effective way, with an equal capacity for being a doofus.
Bravern is obviously the number one reason to watch the show for most people, and I would say that if you're purely here for a giant gay space robot, then this is going to be a decent watch.
The Military Sucks: There Are Militaries Involved Yet Somehow This Is Still Watchable
I hate the fucking military, so at least the military here is depicted in an acceptable way (so far, at least). In episode 2, they waterboard Isami to interrogate him for information he doesn't have regarding Bravern, which is a realistically shitty and awful thing for the military to do-- They don't sugarcoat how fucked up the military is. These people very much have the capacity to harm their own staff, and they will do so if it means they might get an edge over the enemy.
At the same time, the actual characters in the military are depicted as primarily doing this shit out of a genuine personal desire to defeat these horrendously destructive space entities, which have attacked at least some of their home towns and home countries, so it's more personal rather than purely being a military directive that people are being forced to follow.
In this way, it's not really realistic, but everyone is on board for their own largely humanitarian aid type of reasons (there is a mission which is basically just locating survivors of an attack and then getting the fuck out) which makes the military context feel less oppressive and shitty.
Part of why this is more OK than other military depictions is because the military forces involved here are international (collaborating to defeat a global threat rather than kill each other's civilians) and because the military is clearly losing this war.
Because it's an international effort, this brings more diversity to the show-- There's a surprising amount of English interspersed between dialogue in Japanese here and there, and the military board consists of representatives from multiple nations, including some Germans who at first believe Bravern is some kind of secret American operation, lmao.
Bravern calls the military out on its shit, and essentially tells the military board to stop with the suspicious infighting bullshit and drop the internal tension because otherwise they'll all die to this mechanical nightmare creature threat.
They actually listen, which means this is an unrealistic portrayal of the military, lmao. I think they struck a good balance so far between showing that the military sucks and has problems, while also making sure that you're not really cheering for any given military force, but rather, you cheer for individual characters who just happen to be stuck doing this military shit as a premise for anything to be going on in the show at all.
So it's not the worst when it comes to the military shit; At least so far, it's watchable, which as someone who passionately hates the fucking military, is surprising to me.
It's less GI Joe and more "we just needed a reason for these characters to be involved in this situation".
Of course, your mileage may vary, but personally I found it easy to tune out or just skip through any military shit that got grating and I didn't miss anything important by doing so. At the very least, you can skip around and ignore a lot of this stuff and get right to the gay robot if that's all you want to do. It becomes clear pretty quickly what's going on if you skip around a bit, so no worries there.
Fun Speculation: What is Bravern?
Only 6 episodes are out at the moment, so there's tons of shit we don't know yet.
Bravern has a notable resemblance to a type of enemy in the show, called a Death-Drive.
Death-Drives are mecha who are distinct from the "minion" type enemies (which almost resemble flying saucers with laser gun arms and light shields), and have their own unique character designs and names.
Why these things are here, how they are here, why they are interested in Earth, and everything else is currently unknown.
Bravern looks like he could possibly be of the same mechanical species, although we don't know if that's true (yet). He has abilities that the other mecha don't seem to have, but how far this goes and what it might mean is not yet clear.
Bravern also seems to have knowledge of human media (he references The Abyss at one point and he likes 3D printing figures of sentai show characters lmao), and was immediately able to speak to the humans using language they would understand, so it's unclear if Bravern may have been studying Earth for some time before his arrival or why.
He is obsessed with his pilot and cares for him so much that he extends some care towards others purely based on their relation to Isami as co-workers; Why? What makes Isami special?
How does Bravern know seemingly every human language? How does his piloting system work? How similar is he to the Death-Drives-- Are organic beings critical to them in some way? If so, why are the other mechs killing so many of us? (These are big questions especially by the end of episode 6, due to some spoilers and a spoiler character who shows up later.)
We know little to nothing about a lot of the key elements of the show, including any motivations for the Death-Drives or what they are, what's up with the fucking UFO looking laser things, etc.
There's more to speculate on, but that would be getting into deeper spoiler territory so I'm gonna hold back on that for now.
Summary: It's Gay and Cool and Has Interesting Ideas
Bravern's not the sole source of gay vibes in this show, but it's fun that he is also a source of gay vibes in this show.
The designs are great, the Titanostriders remind me of Appleseed style mechanical suit designs which is nice, the Death-Drives are super interesting, Bravern is fucking fabulous but he's not too goofy to take seriously, and the military is unfortunately present but it's clear that they suck and are generally losing (and since the conflict is not between different groups of humans but rather is about human collaboration to defeat a non-human shared threat to our entire planet, this goes a long way to make the military shit tolerable).
It pretends to be a Real Robot show but has so much Super Robot show sprinkled in that you might as well consider it a little bit of both which the show balances pretty well.
I haven't watched an anime since around 2008 at the very latest, so I don't know how this might compare to any other robot animes since then and I am certainly not an anime expert by any means LOL, but this has been a fun show to watch so far.
It does have its problems, of course, but if you can get past the setup for the first episode (when it's still pretending to be a Real Robot show), from the moment Bravern arrives towards the end of that first episode, the show gains momentum and starts to get interesting very quickly.
It has some issues. But we're only 6 episodes in, so at the moment, they have plenty of time to potentially address those issues and we'll see where things go.
I'd recommend it if you want to give it a try!
I think there's enough here to appeal to the usual Transformers crowd and you might end up liking it, or at least having fun while watching it in the background.
If you end up wanting to to tap out then no worries-- I think it's worth giving it a shot and if it's not your thing, no problem.
Each episode is around 25 - 30 minutes, so while the first episode might feel like a slog to get through because fuck the military, once Bravern shows up the show actually gets started and I wouldn't blame anyone for just skipping to that point in the first episode and going from there, because there's nothing in that opening that you won't be reminded of or be able to figure out. It mostly just sets up the intro to the human characters and the collaboration training session, introduces the Titanostriders as a thing, and you can always go back and watch that part later if you want to.
All in all, pretty decent! Obviously we're Transformers people so we're here for the robots, and the robots are interesting and fun, and that's all I need to have a good time.
Hopefully this was a useful summary if you're interested or have seen Bravern stuff on your dash! :)
Thanks for reading!
BONUS: I forgot to mention this somehow, but there's a lot of overlap between Transformers and other Brave shows involving actual Transformers re-used in Japan for these shows; There's a good video about it here on YouTube which explains some of this, but if anyone's wondering, yes Bravern has a grounder alt-mode and it's pretty cool. Will we get a transforming Bravern figure??? We can hope!
There's another video here which mentions some of the Transformers elements in other Brave shows/Yuusha, which might be interesting for those of you who are unaware. :)

Oh, this was a really fun finale. I think shows like this are a very good argument for the idea that some kinds of storytelling just never go out of style.
Obviously, Smith/Bravern's love for Isami, and his respect for him, burns from beyond the grave. Hot enough to resurrect him first as Bravern and then in the final scene of the episode, as himself. I was also so so so fucking happy that Lulu got to contribute to the final final FINAL battle, I was worried she'd get left out.
Speaking of! Verum Vita makes a lot of her brief screentime and I love how she goes from this cool, calm, collected ultimate final threat to psychotically planning to massacre the entire planet to INCREDIBLY annoyed at Bravern continually just being able to overpower her attacks. I liked how literally everyone came back for the finale, even if just to contribute to Bravern's spirit bomb, I think that's a good way of showing where the show's priorities lie. I get that Smith has that whole little bit at the end about how "oh *everyone* who was there that day was a hero", but if I can disagree with the show for a second, that's really not true. Bravern and Lulu are the heroes because they're the SUPER robots. Everyone else is support
I do feel the need to concede that this was not a perfect series, at least not for me personally; some of the humor goes a little over the line for me (although not much of it to be honest), and while I'm mostly over the hoo-rah undertones present in spots, I do still have that little bit of an icky feeling that I get from anything involving the military. Also, hey, damn, Superbia sure got the short end of the stick, huh? Everyone else gets to come back to life but he stays dead, what's up with that? Maybe the idea is that he lives on within Lulu, but if so, the anime doesn't really make that clear.
Anyway, that's all pretty minor stuff, honestly? Other than maaaaybe the Superbia thing. And that's the thing, this *wasn't* a perfect series, but it was quite a good one, and I liked it a lot. If someone said it was an all-timer for them, I would understand completely.
Also, I am NEVER going to get the theme song out of my head.
bang bang ba-bang ba-babababa! Braverrrrrrrrn!

I think Lewis Smith's appearance was inspired by John Smith (Pocahontas 1995.)
(They're both attractive. 😆)
(Maybe Lewis Smith is John Smith's decentant, I'm kidding. )

Big Brave Bravern
Superbowl Confessions.
Braven x Female SO
“The Superbowl?” Isami tilted his head to the side, and Lewis Smith and Arial exchanged glances.
“Yeah, it’s the biggest football game of the year,” Arial replied, curling her lips into a bright smile,
“It’s like a national holiday in the United States.”
Isami’s brow furrowed slightly, his confusion evident; Bravern walked over to his massive body, shaking the ground as he approached the small group of humans.
“What is football?” Bravern asked, placing his hands on his hips. Isami, Lewis, and Arial exchanged glances, trying to find the best way to explain the sport to the towering Bravern.
“Well, football is a game played between two teams of eleven players each,” Isami began, echoing through the spacious room. “The goal is to score points by carrying or passing the ball into the opposing team’s end zone.”
Bravern’s brow creased slightly as he absorbed Isami’s words. “And how do you score points?” he inquired, his deep voice rumbling.
“You can score points in a few ways,” Arial said, her enthusiasm evident. “You can score a touchdown by carrying the ball into the end zone, or you can kick a field goal by kicking the ball through the goalposts.”
Bravern nodded slowly, eyes scanning the group as he processed the information.
“I see,” he said thoughtfully. “So, it’s a game of strategy and skill.”
“Exactly,” Lewis agreed, a grin spreading across his face. “And it’s also a lot of fun to watch.”
Isami shrugged his shoulders; he leaned back on his head and let out a sigh.
“I’ve never seen a match, Bravern; it’s an American thing.” He explained. Arial clapped her hands together, making Isami flinch.
“Well, then we’ll have a party!” She pumps her fist, “We’re talking food, games, trivia!”
Bravern’s eyes widened with excitement as Arial’s words painted a vibrant picture in his mind.
“A party?” he repeated, his voice echoing through the room. “That sounds delightful!”
“I don’t know…” Isami hesitated, “Parties aren’t really my thing…”
Lewis’s smile grew more expansive, and she wrapped his arm around the Japanese man’s shoulder.
“Oh, come on, Isami,” Lewis chuckled, playfully nudging his friend. “It’ll be a great time. Trust me.”
Isami sighed, knowing he couldn’t resist Lewis’ infectious enthusiasm. “Fine,” he relented, a hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “But I’m not making any promises.”
Arial squealed with delight, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
“This is going to be the best Superbowl party ever!” she declared. Bravern agreed, pumping his fist in the air following Arial’s gesture.
“Yes, I’m very excited to see more human and earth cultures!” He shouted, his voice booming, making everyone flinch slightly.
The day of the Superbowl arrived: Arial and Lewis decorated a wear house reamers and balloons in vibrant colors adorned the walls. At the same time, tables were laden with various delectable snacks and refreshments.
As the guests began to arrive, the atmosphere crackled with excitement. Friends and colleagues from Isami’s dorm and some of Arial’s family members filled the warehouse, their laughter and chatter creating a symphony of joy.
Bravern set up a large projector to show the game on the massive smooth wall, transforming the warehouse into a makeshift stadium. The room fell silent as the players took to the field, their helmets gleaming under the bright lights.
Bravern sits on the ground, watching Arial from the corner of his optic. Something about her made him feel…
Different.
It wasn’t just her physical beauty, although she was undeniably attractive. It was her energy, her passion, her infectious enthusiasm. She made him feel alive in a way he had never felt before.
He felt himself freeze as he glanced back at her; a smile printed across her pink lips made his body slightly overheat.
“Who are you watching, Bravern?” Asked Lewis, “The game or Arial?”
Bravern’s massive frame shifted uncomfortably under Lewis’ teasing gaze.
“I’m watching the game, of course.” He cleared his throat, his optics darting back to the game.
“Sure, you are, big guy.” Lewis chuckled, nudging him playfully.
Bravern couldn’t help but feel flustered. He had never experienced these strange, exhilarating emotions before. He stole another glance at Arial, who was engrossed in the game, her eyes sparkling excitedly.
As the game progressed, Bravern found himself cheering along with the crowd. He was amazed by the athleticism and skill of the players, the strategic plays, and the sheer intensity of the competition. He began to understand why this event was so beloved by humans.
However, he couldn’t deny the pull he felt towards Arial. Every time she laughed, every time she gasped in surprise, every time she leaned forward in anticipation, his heart pounded in his chest. He longed to reach and touch her, to feel her soft skin against his.
Halftime arrived, and the crowd cheered as the performers took to the stage. Bravern watched in awe as they danced and sang, creating a mesmerizing and exhilarating spectacle.
But his attention kept drifting back to Arial. She was standing close to him, her body swaying to the music. He could smell her light, floral scent that intoxicated him. He wanted to wrap his arms around her and pull her close.
“Bravern, are you having fun?” Arial questioned, making his heart freeze for a moment.
“Yes, I am,” Bravern replied honestly, his voice slightly husky. “The game is exciting, and the halftime show is spectacular.”
Arial smiled, her eyes crinkling at the corners.
“I’m glad you’re enjoying it,” she said. “This is one of my favorite events of the year.”
Bravern nodded, unable to take his eyes off her. He felt a strange urge to tell her how he felt, but he wasn’t sure how she would react. He had never expressed his emotions well, especially to someone he cared about.
The second half of the game began, and Bravern needed help to focus on the action on the field. His mind kept wandering back to Arial, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that he needed to say something to her.
Finally, during a lull in the game, he turned to her and took a deep breath. “Arial,” he said, his voice trembling slightly, “there’s something I need to tell you.”
Arial turned to him, her eyes wide with curiosity.
“What is it, Bravern?” she asked. Bravern hesitated for a moment, then blurted out,
“I like you, Arial. A lot!”
Arial’s eyes widened even further, and a slow smile spread.
“You do?” she asked.
Bravern nodded, his heart pounding in his chest. “Yes, I do,” he said. “I’ve liked you for a while now, but I was afraid to say anything.”
Arial laughed softly, a beautiful sound that made Bravern’s heart melt.
“You don’t have to be afraid, Bravern,” she said. “I like you too.”
Bravern’s eyes lit up with joy. He leaned forward and gently took Arial’s hand in his.
“Really?” he asked.
Arial nodded, her smile growing wider.
“Really,” she said, kissing his cheek, sending shivers down Bravern’s massive frame. He felt a surge of happiness and relief wash over him. He didn’t have to hide his feelings or worry about rejection for once. Arial felt the same way.

Big Bang Bravern.
"Serious Hardships"
Bravern x Female S/O. Rated T.
While Arial away, Bravern has to eventually choose a co-pilot if she ever dies.
He doesn't take it well.
Tumblr media
"Bravern!" Arial calls out to her giant mecha robot friend, "I have something to discuss with you."
Bravern's massive head turns towards Arial, its glowing blue eyes focusing on her. "What is it, Arial?" its deep, metallic voice booms.
Arial took a deep breath before she spoke.
"I want you to find a co-pilot, a replacement if I ever die in battle!" Arial demanded, tightening her hands to her side.
Bravern's world crashed as he heard that brief sentence leaving Arial's soft lips.
“What…?” he whispered
"What do you mean, Arial?" Bravern's voice was strained, his core recoiling at the thought of losing his partner.
Tears welled up in Arial's eyes. "Bravern, I know I'm a skilled pilot, but I'm not invincible. If I were to fall in battle, I want to know that you'll have someone to continue fighting alongside," she pleaded.
Bravern's green eyes dimmed, his massive frame shuddering as he processed this new reality. He had always assumed that he and Arial would remain inseparable, eternally connected through their shared purpose. The thought of another co-pilot filled him with dread.
"But why, Arial?" he asked, his voice a broken whisper. "I can continue the mission with only you!".
"I know," Arial replied, reaching out to gently caress Bravern's cold, metallic exterior, "but it's not just about the mission. It's about you. I care about you, Bravern. I don't want you to be alone."
Bravern slams his fist against the ground, shattering his fingers against the concrete surface.
"NO! I won't do it!" he barks back; Arial stumbled backward.
"Bravern."
"I SAID I WON'T DAMMIT!" Bravern screams.
Bravern's breath hitched, his entire body taut with a tension that seemed to crackle in the air. He spun on her, eyes blazing with a storm of unshed tears.
"I want you to be happy." Arial whispered.
"Happy?" he roared, his voice thick with a pain that scraped at Arial's soul. "How can I be happy when the very thought of losing you…" His voice trailed off, choked by the raw emotion he was clearly struggling to contain, "I don't want to lose you!"
"Bravern…"
"Shut up!" Bravern cried out.
A tear slipped down Arial's cheek, mirroring the glistening in Bravern's eye. Despite his outburst, his voice held a tremor that betrayed his growing vulnerability.
She reached out, her hand hovering hesitantly near his massive form.
"I'm going home for two weeks while I'm gone…Look for a co-pilot, okay?" she asked, stoking Bravern's face before gently kissing his nose, "I love you, big fella."
"Please don't go…" he whispered. Arial shook her head as she began to back away. She gave Bravern a sad smile before running away. "Arial!"
The world blurred for Bravern as Arial fled, her final words echoing in his metallic ears. Her touch still lingered on his face, a phantom warmth against the cold steel.
A strangled sob escaped his vents, a sound alien to his programming. He had never known such a depth of emotion, such a raw fear of loss.
He stood up and back onto his feet, his massive form towering over the humans. Down below, his green optics scanned the area for his beloved human.
But he couldn't find her.
"Arial!" he shouts, a primal sense of panic clawing at his core.
He hadn't anticipated this.
He'd been so focused on the raw ache of her impending absence, the terror of losing her, that he hadn't considered the possibility of her leaving abruptly.
He lets out a scream, freezing everyone to their core as they turn their attention towards the robot as he holds his head with his hands.
"Is he having a tantrum?" whispered an American army member to his Japanese friend.
"It…appears so." He agreed, not believing his eyes.
The soldiers scrambled back, a wave of unease rippling through their ranks. Bravern's anguished cry had shattered the 'stoic façade' they were accustomed to. General Washington, however, remained rooted to the spot, his gaze fixed on the colossal mech.
"At ease, soldiers," he boomed, his voice cutting through the rising panic. "There's no threat here. Stand down."
The soldiers hesitated, then slowly obeyed, murmuring amongst themselves. General Washington strode towards Bravern, his weathered face etched with a surprising empathy.
"Bravern," he said, his voice gruff but gentle, "This isn't the time for tantrums."
The General's words struck a chord within Bravern.
"...Tantrum..."
A tantrum.
Was that what his outburst resembled to these humans? Shame flickered through his processors alongside the ever-present ache of loss.
"No, sir," Bravern rumbled, his voice more profound and more controlled this time. "It's… grief."
He explained, haltingly at first, about Arial's request and his turmoil. The raw vulnerability of his emotions was a stark contrast to his usual stoicism, but there was a comfort in finally confiding in someone.
General Washington listened patiently, his gaze steady and unwavering. When Bravern finished, the general surprised him with a curt nod.
"Love," he said, his voice gruff but not unkind. "It seems even giant robots aren't immune."
Meanwhile, dressed in her civilian clothing, Arial could see Bravern as he continued to look for her.
She sighed to herself as guilt ate at her heart.
"It looks like the general's lecture flopped." She laughs brokenly. She slams the hood of the taxi before getting inside. "The airport, please, and step on it. He can't find me."
"Alrighty, miss. Hold on tight!" the taxi driver nodded, speeding away.
Arial wrestled with a storm of emotions as the taxi sped away, the cityscape blurring into a kaleidoscope of colors.
Guilt gnawed at her.
Had her abrupt departure been too much for Bravern to handle?
Yet, his raw vulnerability during their conversation offered a glimmer of hope. There may have been a chance for their bond to deepen and evolve into something more than pilot and mecha.
Tears welled up in her eyes again. Leaving Bravern had been the most difficult decision she'd ever made, but she knew it was necessary. She needed time—time to process her blossoming feelings for the giant robot and time to train even harder.
A newfound determination set in her jaw. She wouldn't just be a skilled pilot; she would become an extension of herself within the cockpit, her intuition and reflexes ideally in sync with Bravern's.
The roar of the jet engines grew louder as they approached the airport. With a final glance back at the city where Bravern stood, a silent promise formed in her heart. Their destinies were intertwined, and they would fight together again.
But this time, it would be different. This time, she would fight by his side not just as a pilot but as his equal, a reflection of his courage and testament to their extraordinary bond.
Bravern sank to his knees. He looked everywhere at the base he could think of, and he still couldn't find her.
A heavy silence descended upon the base as Bravern knelt, his massive form dwarfing the surrounding buildings. General Washington watched with a sympathetic frown, the weight of Bravern's despair hanging thick in the air.
"Bravern," the General spoke softly, his voice carrying a quiet authority. "Arial's request may have been difficult to hear, but remember, it comes from a place of care. She wants to ensure your well-being, even in the face of her own mortality."
Bravern rumbled a low sound, a mix of grief and confusion echoing within it. "But why another? We are a unit, General. Our connection… it transcends the need for another pilot."
The General nodded in understanding. "Your bond is undeniable, Bravern. But what Arial proposes isn't a replacement; it's an extension. Someone who can share the burden, someone who understands you the way she does."
He gestured towards Bravern's massive form.
"You are a marvel of technology, Bravern, but you are more than that now. You feel. You grieve. And Arial recognizes that. She wants you to have someone by your side who can fight alongside you and understand you on a deeper level," he says.
Bravern considered this, his processors whirring as he sifted through the General's words. The idea of another pilot still rankled, but the General's point resonated.
There could be a way to find someone who wouldn't diminish his connection with Arial but rather complement it.
"Very well, General," Bravern rumbled at last. "We will begin the search for this co-pilot. But," he added, his voice firm, "they must be worthy. Someone who shares Arial's courage, her intuition… her heart."
A flicker of a smile touched the General's lips. "That goes without saying, Bravern. We will find the perfect match, someone who can fight in sync with you and Arial, an extension of your extraordinary bond."
He placed a hand, surprisingly small compared to Bravern's immense form, on the mech's knee. "Now, how about we get you back on your feet, soldier? We have some training exercises to work on. Keeping your mind sharp will help you through this difficult time."
Bravern rose slowly, a newfound determination settling in his core. He wouldn't dwell on what he couldn't control. He would focus on what he could – becoming an even more formidable fighter worthy of Arial and the bond they shared.
"She's going to be back in 2 weeks, right?" he whispered.
"Yes. She will be."
"Then...I'll try to find a co-pilot while she’s gone...I don't want to disappoint her." Bravern gave in, a bit of bitterness in his voice.

A/U Ending. (Arial dies.)
After two long weeks, it was time for Arial to return to the base to return to Bravern, who waited anxiously for her return.
Except she never did.
During her visit back home, Arial was involved in a tragic car accident and was killed instantly during the head-on collision with a massive semi-truck.
"Arial…" Bravern knew something was wrong as he watched the General approaching him.
The news struck Bravern like a physical blow. General Washington's words echoed hollowly in his processors:
"Arial was involved in a car accident… she's gone. I'm sorry, my friend."
Bravern's world tilted on its axis. The foundation of his existence, the bond he shared with his pilot, was ripped away instantly.
"Noooo!!!" screams Bravern.
Depressing days turned into depressing weeks, a heavy shroud of grief settling over the base. Bravern stood dormant, his massive form a monument to their lost connection.
The training simulations, once a source of focus, held no meaning without Arial.
She was his heart, his soul... His first love....
One day, General Washington approached the silent mech. He understood Bravern's pain; the pilot-mech bond transcended mere partnership. It was a friendship forged in battle, a shared purpose that defied definition.
"Bravern," the General's voice boomed gently, "We understand your grief. But Arial wouldn't want you to shut down. She would be devistsed if she knew what you were doing to yourself."
Bravern rumbled a low sound, a tremor running through his metallic frame.
"What purpose is there without her?" He spoke, his usually bold and loud voice replaced by a mere whisper.
"There is still a mission, Bravern," General Washington said firmly. "It was a mission Arial believed in. She wouldn't want her dream of peace and tranquility to end like this!"
Bravern remained silent, his processors grappling with the General's words. A flicker of something, perhaps embers of his old determination, stirred within his core.
"The search for a co-pilot," he rumbled, his voice raspy with disuse. "Continue it."
General Washington nodded, a flicker of hope lighting his eyes.
"We will, Bravern. But this time, we'll find someone skilled and who understands the weight of this mission and can honor Arial's memory by fighting alongside you."
"She will always be with you."
Bravern let's out a broken sob as he lowered his head forward. He knew that Arial would want him to move on, and be happy like she wanted him to be.
He places his hand against his empty chest and against his healing heart.
"I will call my new mission...Project Arial!" Bravern boomed, tears still trickling down his cheeks, a small bold smile replacing his frown.
"I will do it for her!"

Big Brave Bravern.
Bravern x Country Girl S/O.
“The…Country that’s where you’re from?” Bravern questions Arial.
She nodded her head in agreement and turned his lips into a smile.
“Yep.” She nodded, “I’m a country girl through and through.”
Bravern couldn’t help but feel drawn to her simplicity and down-to-earth nature. He had always been fascinated by the countryside, with its rolling hills, lush green fields, and the tranquility that seemed to permeate the air. Arial’s stories of growing up in such an environment captivated him, and he found himself longing to experience it firsthand.
“Tell me more about your life back home,” he requested, his gaze fixed on her with unwavering attention.
He lies down onto his stomach, placing his hands underneath his chin, Arial rolled her eyes at the giant robot.
“You’re like a little kid,” she scoffed.
Arial couldn’t help but smile at Bravern’s enthusiasm. She settled down next to him, leaning against his massive arm, and began to explain him with tales of her life back home. She described the wide-open fields where she and her family grew their food, the clear skies and starry nights, and the friendly community that always looked out for one another.
“Did you have a horse?” Bravern asked.
“Still do! Spirit is still alive and kicking!” Arial laughed, “and my best friend as well.”
“Hey!” Bravern pouts, Arial sticks out her tongue playfully.
Bravern listened intently to Arial’s stories, his optics sparkling with fascination. He had never imagined a life so different from his own, and he couldn’t help but feel a sense of longing for the simplicity and peace that she described.
“It sounds like a beautiful place,” he said softly. “I would love to visit it someday.”
“Maybe you will, I’ll have you do some farm work.” Arial teased.
“Oh, I’m sure I’d be a natural,” Bravern replied with a confident smirk.
“So…What’s living in space like?” Arial asked, titling her head to the side, Bravern frowned slightly, he wasn’t expecting that.
Bravern paused for a moment, contemplating how to answer her question. Living in space was all he had ever known, and it was difficult to put into words the vastness and emptiness that surrounded him on a daily basis.
“Well,” he began slowly, “living in space is…different. There are no rolling hills or green fields, no clear skies or starry nights. It’s mostly darkness, except for the millions of stars that dot the expanse. There’s a constant hum of machinery, and everything is meticulously controlled for survival.”
“Is it lonely…?” Arial asked.
“Very.” Bravern’s voice held a tinge of sadness as he admitted to the loneliness that consumed him at times. He hadn’t realized just how isolated he felt until Arial had posed the question. Living in space, surrounded by the cold confines of metal and technology.
Arial reached out and gently squeezed Bravern’s hand, offering him a comforting smile.
“I can’t imagine how difficult that must be,” she said softly. “But just know that you’re not alone anymore. I’m here with you, and I’ll always be here for you.”
Bravern turned to her, his optics meeting her gaze, and felt a sense of gratitude wash over him. It was true that he had found a companion in Arial, someone who had shown him what it meant to connect with another on a deeper level. Despite their differences in upbringing and environment, they had managed to bridge the gap between their worlds and find solace in each other’s presence.
“I’m grateful to have you in my life,” Bravern murmured, his voice filled with sincerity. “You’ve opened my eyes to a world I never knew existed, and I’ll always cherish that.”
Arial’s smile widened, and she leaned in to press a gentle kiss against Bravern’s metal cheek.
“And I’m grateful for you too,” she whispered.

Bang, Brave Bang Bravern
Beavern Very ill Female S/O.
TW: Cancer mentioned! ⚠️ ⚠️
After flying around inside Bravern’s chest cavity, Bravern gracefully landed on the tarmac, stinking a dramatic pose; the American and Japanese armies exchanged glances with allies, sharing amused smiles.
“What a great practice, Arial!” Bravern shouted, opening his chest as Arial tried lying and emerged from inside, “Arial, are you alright?”
“Yeah, I’m fine…” Arial nodded, jumping down from Bravern’s chest. But as she landed, Arial’s face contorted in pain, and he clutched her stomach, a soft groan escaping her lips.
Bravern’s expression immediately turned worried as he rushed to Arial’s side. “What’s wrong, Arial? Are you hurt?”
“It’s nothing, just a stomachache. I’ll be fine.” But her pale complexion and beads of sweat dripping down her forehead betrayed her words.
Arial grimaced, trying to hide the pain.
She then felt a trickle from underneath her nose; she brushed her fingertips to her upper lip, realizing it was blood. Panic filled Bravern’s eyes as he gently wiped the blood away with his thumb, his worry only growing more profound.
“Arial?” he asked. Arial took another step forward, her legs giving out before her body collapsed lifeless, “ARIAL!!”
As Arial collapsed, Bravern caught her, panic surging through him. He held her close, frantically checking for a pulse, relieved when he found a faint one.
Bravern quickly signals for the medical team to arrive to assist his partner.
The medical team arrived swiftly, taking Arial from Bravern’s grasp and placing her on a stretcher. Bravern stood by anxiously, his fists clenched, as the doctors assessed her condition. The worry on his face was evident, his mind racing with fear and questions.
“What happened to her? Will she be okay?” Bravern asked, his voice filled with desperation.
“It appears that she has been pushing herself physically and mentally too hard. Her body is exhausted, and this stomachache may be a symptom of something more serious. We need to run some tests to determine the cause.” The head doctor turned to Bravern, his expression grave.
Hours later:
Arial was taken to the hospital on the main island, and her blood results returned with positive results of possible pancreas cancer.
“We contacted her family back on the mainland,” a doctor explained to Bravern.
“Is pancreas cancer serious…?” Bravern asked hesitantly; the doctor’s face turned grim. The doctor nodded solemnly.
“Yes, pancreas cancer is a serious condition. It can lead to various complications and can be life-threatening if not properly treated. We will do everything we can to stabilize her and start the necessary treatments as soon as possible.”
Bravern’s heart sank at the gravity of the situation. He couldn’t bear the thought of losing Arial, his partner, and the person he cared for deeply.
“Please, do whatever it takes to save her,” he pleaded, his voice filled with desperation.
“We will do our best, Bravern. Our team is experienced, and we will exhaust all available options to treat her effectively. But I must warn you, it will be a difficult and challenging journey.” The doctor spoke.
End of Part 1.
