For a first attempt at teaching myself CSP's animation function, it's not horrible, but I'll definitely never use CSP for animation again O_O this literally has 533 layers. Hi meg my school is doing Urinetown this year and I really want to play Bobby. I was thinking of doing either Grow for me from little shop, Purpose from AvenueQ, or I believe In You from How to Succeed. Advice pls?

These are all strong choices for Bobby both vocally and dramatically, so I’d say go with whichever one you feel most confident singing. If you don’t have a preference there, maybe try an exercise singing each song in character as Bobby, and then go with whichever one fits most naturally into your version of the character.

“i never actually watched or listened to ave q” than who are you to put it in f tier? wicked stans are so petty for what? why do you just decide a show must suck bc it beat the one you like? even if you dont know a thing about it?

Well first of all the entire thing is my personal opinion and I'm entitled to it, no matter how unfounded you consider it to be.

Now as to why I consider avenueQ an f tier show:

While I never watched or listened to it in full, I did see a few clips and read the lyrics to some of the songs and I just found nothing appealing about the show. The visuals are ugly and uninspired, the character voices are annoying and obnoxious and the lyrics confuse crudeness for humor and originality.

So yes I'm bitter that the south park and sesame street crossover won best musical after their aggressive campaign that involved borderline bribing, instead of wicked, that though it is far from perfect it is a far more appealing show of much higher quality.

Connor being a jealous bitch (based on my gay awakening)

Annabeth Chase was just one of those people who everyone knew. You didn’t have to be friends with her to know she was someone you wanted in your life. Her closest friends, didn’t matter if they were gay, straight, bi, whatever you were, if you were still figuring it out, you had a crush on her. When her friends would hang out, with or without her there the topic always came up. Not just her body, or her face but her personality was something you just wanted to stare at. The giddy feeling of seeing her name on your phone screen when she asked you to come over to play game or cards and smoke some pot, or go for a drive around town, whatever you were doing instantly became insignificant.

Connor knew firsthand just how amazing she was. He may not have known her long, or had more than five real talk conversations with her, but he knew she was an amazing person. She was intelligent, well spoken, gracious, and most of all; beautiful. She didn’t just look beautiful, but her entire presence emanated the essence of what beauty was.

Then she walked into school hand and hand with Percy Jackson. Connor had known she and Percy were friends, at times felt a bit jealous of how often they would see each other, but he never expected her to date him. She was too perfect for Connor.. Too perfect for Percy. Too perfect for anyone at the good for nothing school. She had up and until that moment seemed untouchable to people like him. She should be with someone older, more sophisticated. Not— Percy Jackson…

“What is this?” Piper asked outright, indicating to her and Percy’s entwined hands.

“Should we tell them?” Percy leaned in close to Annabeth’s ear to ask her. Annabeth just nodded. “Well, as you guys know, Annabeth is my best friend and she always will be, but we’ve always talked about being more…” Percy’s voice became a distant background noise as he watched Annabeth’s face light up as Percy explained how they got together. How they had been laying on her bed and he just made his move. Connor could feel his jaw tighten at the way she looked at Percy. She should be looking at him like that. Not Percy. Connor wanted her. He knew he could never have her, but he still yearned for her, still craved her attention, wanted to do the things she was doing with Percy.

Connor met Annabeth their freshman year Drama Club. Annabeth was far too talented to be in the ensemble, but she was a freshman, and freshmen have to pay their dues. She never complained, never mentioned anything about the talent she was withholding from them all. Percy knew about it though. He heard it the first time he sat next to her in the chorus tower. She had a voice that sounded professional to him.

He heard it again when he sat next to her in art class.

When they were sophomores Connor made it his mission to become her friend. His love life seemingly took a backseat as he tried to develop a deeper friendship with her. Inviting her to family events, saying how boring it would be without her, all about his crazy cousins, and what they were up to these days. She just listened and laughed when he made a joke. It was so easy.

Then she invited him and only him to accompany her to an event where she was a showcased performer. He will forever consider it their first date, but she’ll never know.

(She treated him to dinner, and a show, how is it not a date?)

Then she invited him to her birthday party in July. Sure, all their friends were there, but it didn’t distract him from the fact that she still personally invited him.

Connor decided for his birthday that he wanted to take just her to see AvenueQ, his favorite off-broadway show that she introduced him to. She knew all the extra bits there was to know about the show, like what the original cast members had been up to, what shows they were in, what the playwright wrote after it. Just because he couldn’t pay attention to anything but her lips that evening, doesn’t mean he didn’t learn anything about theater! (And just because he can’t remember what she said doesn’t mean he wasn’t paying attention)

So when he saw Percy’s hand in hers, and vice versa, his stomach dropped, his breathing became a bit harder, and he couldn’t focus on what was going on around him. He’d just have to wait for chem class to talk to her about what happened.

“Hey!” She said as she sat down, out of breath. Connor could only look up from his paper to acknowledge her. “What’s up your butt?”

“Nothing, uh…” he paused to think of something to say to her. He couldn’t believe he was reacting the way he was, he knew it didn’t change what they had, she was never his, and he was never hers. “I was just getting ready for Wag’s test this Friday.”

Annabeth groaned, throwing her head back. “She’s giving us another one? I already have three tests this week. One in AP English, and two in math.”

“You have two math tests this week?”

“Well one is today and the other is Friday.”

“Damn. I mean, how do you do it? You’re the lead in the play, and you get good grades— I could never.”

“Please, it’s just what I’m used to, I guess. Like ever since I was little, my dad had me signed up for ballet, and then it was the cello and ballet and then the activities never stopped so I guess I’m just used to it.”

“Wow, no, I mean— you’re like a superhero.”

“Maybe your superhero, since I help you with chem.”

“You were my superhero before that.” Connor said as Wag slammed her coffee mug down, and gathered the class’s attention.

“What—”

“Ready for another lab today, you guys?” Wag asked, even though she had already handed out the papers.

“Wanna be my partner?” Annabeth nudged Connor with her elbow as she asked.

“Sure. I’ll grab us goggles, you grab the chemicals?”

“Sure.”

Connor grabbed two goggles, and sat down where they were.

“Con, is it cool if Luke joins us? His partner is out.”

“I mean… sure— I guess.”

Connor  couldn’t stand Luke. He was always pushing his way into things. Last year, when Annabeth invited Connor to see a local production of Les Mis Luke just had to join. It had been right after the end of the year carnival, and Connor had waited patiently for Annabeth to finish working the Drama Club’s booth. Luke swung by and asked her what she was doing, and well, he joined their date and somehow Connor ended up being the third wheel.

They had a double that day; two periods of chem in a row, and the first period went by faster than the second usually. When the first period was over Connor could feel a weight lifted off his shoulders as he watched Luke take his seat across the room.

“Ugh, Luke always copies my answers.” Annabeth rubbed her face, and then stretched.

“Yeah, well that’s just the kind of guy he is.”

“You also take my answers.” She countered.

“Because you’re the smartest person I know!” He joked.

“What’s been with you this morning? Ever since Percy and I got to school, you’ve been so distant.”

“I’m fine.”

“You don’t sound fine.” She insisted.

“I’m just so happy for you and Percy .” His voice was tight, and constricting.

“You don’t sound it.”

“What do you want from me, Annabeth?”

“I want you to tell me why it bothers you so much that I’m dating Percy.”

“I never said that.”

“You didn’t have to.”

“You already know that everyone has a crush on you. I’m no different, but you really couldn’t do better than Percy?”

“Who would you like me to date, Connor? Since you seem to have so many thoughts on my dating life, please, enlighten me.”

“Someone who respects you, won’t make a mockery of who you are. When was the last time he even came to one of your shows? Or—”

“I don’t need this from you. Percy has been my best friend for years, and I— I lo—like him a lot.”

“You don’t love him.”

“Of course I do.”

“Then say it.”

“I lo-o-ve him.” She stuttered.

“You deserve better than him.”

“There’s nothing wrong with Percy.”

“He’s so mediocre.”

“I deserve to be loved just like anyone else here, and just because I can’t say that I’m in love with Percy, doesn’t mean I won’t. I love him.”

“Does he even know how lucky he is?”

“Yes. Now for the love of god will you drop it?”

“You asked me.”

“And it was a mistake.”

“Let’s just get back to the lab, okay?”

“Fine by me.”

At lunch Connor went off with his other group of friends and Percy swooped in next to Annabeth. Connor could see them out of the corner of his eye. He hated it.

Okay, I just want to take a second to talk about the character Rod from the musical Avenue Q. He had the BIGGEST character development in the whole show and it's just so WHOLESOME...

Here are some quotes to show his development over the show:

"I'm NOT getting defensive! What do I care about some gay guy you met, okay? I'm trying to read."

Context: Rods roommate Nicky is showing support of homosexuality in an attempt to encourage Rod to come out. Rod dislikes this.

"Well... I have this friend... And I think he has a very big problem. I think he's... gay."

Context: Rod seeks advice from his neighbour, Christmas Eve, who is a therapist.

"Oh Nicholas! Have you been shy all this time? Have we been hiding from each other? I wonder..."

Context: Rod dreams that his roommate, Nicky, has feelings for him.

"Gee, they're so lucky to have each other!"

Context: Rod becomes angry at Nicky when attending a neighbours wedding because he is jealous.

"My wonderful girlfriend! Yes, I have a girlfriend, who lives in Canada!!"

Context: Rod tries to convince his entire friend group that he isnt gay after Nicky revealed his suspicions.

"Why don't I have someone by my side who makes me feel special and safe? Someone who... loves me the way I love them..."

Context: Rod talks to Christmas Eve about how he is uncomfortable in the closet and feels lonley.

"I, Rod, am gay. SURPRISE!"

Context: Rod comes out to his friend group.

"Oh sweet suffering Jesus...Nicky! And Ricky!"

Context: after coming out, Nicky surprises Rod with a boyfriend who is almost identical to Nicky called Ricky.

Overall, Rod is an amazing character and I love him.
