Little Jealous (Drabble)

Pairing: Finn Bálor x Reader Word Count: 800 Description: Imagine you and Finn are FWB, he doesn’t really want to put a label and ‘neither do you’ (of course you’d love to label it but he doesn’t need to know that).

Wrote this little piece after @new-zealand-chic sent me this picture of Finn from Monday. Literally just threw it together and edited it a bit to make sense. It is a little fast paced but I still hope you enjoy💋

One of the things you enjoyed about being friends with benefits with Finn was the freedom and adventure. You got to do whatever you wished without worrying about answering to anyone but yourself. And since you two were such great friends you got to hang out and meet a lot of your favorite superstars. Since he joined The Judgment Day you’d gotten to hang out with them more than anyone else when never Finn invited you out to see him. You became good friends with the other members, especially Damian.

So when you got a sudden call last weekend from Damian inviting you to fly out to Chicago so you could watch an episode of Raw in person you jump at the chance. Not only would you get to see all of them but also Finn, who you were missing a lot lately. But you’d never tell him that.

Flying out late Sunday night you checked into your hotel room sending Damian a text that you made it.The surprise on Finn’s face the next morning made your heart flutter as you hugged each person leaving him for last.

“I can’t believe you’re here, what are you doing in Chicago?” “Damian invited me out to visit you all and I had a few days off work. Is that okay?”

“Of course it is yeah.”

Finn smiled hugging you again pressing a kiss to the top of your head, both of you missing the satisfied smile on Damian’s face. After breakfast the five of you spent a few hours exploring the city. Since Finn was busy talking with Rhea and Dominik about his match tonight you hung back and chatted with Damian. Grabbing his arm when you’re startled by a sudden loud noise you nudge his ribs when he laughs at you.

“It’s not funny.”

“Because it was hilarious.”

He grinned giving you a side hug as you continued walking, neither of you noticing the occasional looks Finn would throw towards you both. ~ Fast forward to Finn’s match you flinched suddenly feeling someone sit beside you. Damian was wearing a hoodie and sunglasses. You chatted with him excitedly as you watched Finn come out. When Finn spots the two of you together he couldn’t help but snarl. He was sick of seeing you fawning all over Damian when it was supposed to be him you were here to see.

Spotting the look on his face you bit your lip and avoid meeting his gaze anymore, the rest of the night went by in a blur for you, except for Damian and Bad Bunny’s segment.

When the show finally ended Damian texted you to meet them backstage in their dressing room. So you followed a security guard and headed to meet up with your friends. Knocking on the door you rock on your feet freezing when Finn was the one to answer.

A towel riding low on his hips, water droplets from his shower still clinging to the skin. Your eyes slowly slid over him, you’d seen him naked before but this was something else.

“Shouldn’t you be with Priest?”

Blinking at the heat in his voice you rubbed the back of your neck confused on his change in behavior.

“Um, he told me to meet you guys here backstage.”

Finn leaned against the door watching you, the way your eyes kept drifting down his frame. Your tongue sliding out to wet your lips before looking at him again.

“Like what you see there love?”

Feeling your face heat up you nodded your head noticing the smirk on his face.

“Why were you snarling at me earlier?”

You ask softly watching as his demeanor turned slightly cold as he shrugged meeting your gaze again.

“I don’t like Priest trying to fuck around with what’s mine.”

Staring at him you feel your heart pick up, fucking around with whats his?

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“All day you’ve been up his ass and I don’t like it. You were supposed to be seeing me.”

“You were busy chatting with Rhea and Dom, Damian was the only one willing to talk to He invited me out here to see all of you because I’m friends with them too. Besides I don’t ever remember either of us claiming the other. You brought up the no labels thing when this first started.”

You stated crossing your arms, Finn eyed you before laughing darkly. His hand reaching out and pulling you close your hips flush with his as he spoke slowly backing you both into the dressing room. The door shutting behind you sent a shiver down your spin. Like it was sealing your fate, to what you didn’t know yet.

“Oh mo grá, we both know that you belong to me and no one else.”

Promise Me ~ Chapter Two

Summary: Friends since childhood, Gabriella has long held back her feelings where Boromir is concerned, as she did not want to risk losing his friendship if he didn't feel the same. But, then he is summoned to Rivendell, and the night before he is to leave, he stuns Gabriella by confessing his feelings for her as well.

But, war is coming and he cannot put off what he knows must be done. All Gabriella can do is wait for him and pray for his safe return.

Days turned into weeks and the sounds of battle grew louder, seemingly by the hour. Gabriella only opened the tavern for evenings now, and the hours grew shorter with each day. Inventory ran low and vendors could not get any more stock. Not that it mattered much, really. She saw no more than a handful of patrons each evening and usually they were the same people. Most of the families had left. The streets were far more desolate than she’d ever seen.

But not everyone left. Mama and Papa had a fortnight ago, as had Dory’s parents and so many of their friends’ parents as well. But Dory remained and she and Gabriella stayed together in the apartments over the tavern at night. By day, they worked right alongside the others who’d chosen to remain. Men continued their fortifications, while she and Dory and Ava and the other women of their age were shown how to assist where they could. As the war came closer, more wounded men found their way to Minas Tirith, and the women who’d remained assisted the healers in any way they could. And when night fell, they came to the tavern to forget, if only for a little while.

Gabriella had no head for nursing, nor did she have the stomach, but during the daylight hours, she toiled alongside the others just the same, often fighting off nausea or gagging at the terrible wounds and injuries war inflicted upon Men. At first, she could only just barely tolerate the sights and smells, but as the time ground on, she learned to brace herself, to swallow hard and block the bile that rose in her throat. Dory was a natural, and while Gabriella tried so hard to be like her, more often than not, she had to excuse herself and bolt outside to be sick.

The days themselves seemed grayer. It rained more often now, the skies heavy and black as if they held all of the sadness in the world, only to find they could no longer contain it and so had no choice but to rain. The air felt as leaden as the skies, pressing in on all sides and Gabriella found herself wishing for just a hint of sunshine to break through, to offer up a pinprick of hope in all of the gloom.

“Gabby? You’ve a letter.”

She spun around as Ava wove her way through the crowded Great Hall to press the creamy ivory missive into her hand. “A letter? From whom? How did it get here?”

“A rider brought it, and two wounded men with him. I don't know who it’s from. I suppose you’ll learn that when you open it.”

“Thank you.” Gabriella offered her a smile even as she rolled her eyes. “I thought perhaps the rider might have said.”

“No.” Ava’s dark curls bounced this way and that as she shook her head. “All he said was that he was from Rivendell.”

“Rivendell?” Gabriella’s heart gave a mighty leap and her smile grew genuine. “There is only one person who would be writing me from Rivendell.”

“When did you meet an elf?”

“Never you mind. Excuse me.” Gabriella hurried away from the Great Hall, out through the back door to the small garden where the herbs were all grown. Her heart hammered against her ribs so hard, black dots danced before her eyes as she stared down at her name in elegant script across the front of the letter. The red wax seal bore an equally elegant R and crumbled as she carefully broke it.

The paper was heavy and creamy, ivory and blue, with the same R as the wax seal, and her eyes misted over.

A low marble bench stood just under the overhang, so she sank into it, taking care to keep the letter from getting rained on and ruined when she unfolded it completely to smooth against her lap.

“My Dearest Gabby,

“I’m here now, in Rivendell, and it’s too quiet. But that won’t last, as we’ve been summoned to a council to convene in the next hour or so and since I have no idea when I might have this chance again, I thought I’d just let you know I am thinking of you. Perhaps more than I should be, considering what lies ahead, but I cannot help myself. You are, as always, the first thing I think of when I wake and the last thing I think of when I go to sleep.

“If the city evacuates, go with your family, go where it will be safe. It matters not what happens to me, as long as you are safe. When the time comes this war is over, I will find you. Worry not. And before you say it, I promise you. Just as I always have and I always will.

“I wish I knew when I will be back, but unfortunately, there is no way to know for certain. But, I look forward to that day, to seeing you again, for I miss you. I miss hearing your voice and your laughter and the way the sun shines on your hair and the scent of lavender that clings to it. And I know this sounds so trite and foolish and if anyone else saw these words, they would never let me forget them, but they are true.

“An elf knocks now, so it must be time for me to go. Worry not about me, Gabby. And if something terrible should befall me, do not waste a moment mourning.

“Always yours,

“Boromir”

Her eyes filled with tears and she quickly refolded the letter to tuck away before she ruined it. Her throat tightened as a painful lump rose in it. Swiping at those tears, she rose to go back inside, where she found Ava. “Is the rider from Rivendell still here?”

“I think so, why?”

“Where?”

“He was over speaking with Ioreth. Who was the letter from?”

“Never you mind.”

“Why won’t you tell me?”

“Because it is none of your concern, is why. Now, if you will excuse me.” She swept past Ava and out of the Great Hall without making eye contact with anyone so they wouldn’t see her own eyes were shiny and red. She’d read the letter in Boromir’s deep, calming voice and wished so hard he was there to read it to her that it felt like a physical pain. Longing unlike any she’d ever known coursed through her as she made haste to catch the messenger before he left.

“Excuse me!” she called to the man Ava had pointed out, following him out through the hall’s door into the front courtyard. “Are you from Rivendell?”

The man turned and bobbed his head. “I am, indeed.”

“You brought me a letter. From Boromir of Gondor.”

“Yes.”

“Are they still in Rivendell, do you know?”

Her spirits sank as he slowly shook his head. “No, miss. I’m afraid they aren’t. They left shortly after he gave me the missive and asked that I bring it here.”

“Do you know where they were going?”

Another shake of his head. “I do not, no. I’m so sorry.”

“No, I don't suppose I thought you would. I’ll wager not many know at all.” She closed the gasp between them. “Would you mind staying here a bit longer? I would like to send a reply to him and perhaps Elrond will know where he’s gone and have some way of forwarding it to him.”

“I don't know that he does, but yes. I can wait a while longer. The hour grows late and the roads are even more dangerous after dark now. My lord Elrond will not mind if I pass the night here.”

“Thank you.”

“Think not of it. He knew you’d worry about him, your Master Boromir, I mean. He asked that I move as swiftly as I could to bring it to you.”

She smiled despite her aching heart. “He knows me well.” She gestured to the doors behind her. “Do come back inside then. We will be having supper soon and while it won’t be much, it will be hot and there will be a soft bed for you as well.”

“Thank you, Miss.”

He followed her back into the Great Hall and as she closed the doors behind her, he said, “I feel it only proper to tell you, however, I cannot promise he will receive your missive.”

“I understand. But, if I at least have the hope that he does, that would be enough.”

“Of course.”

“I’m sorry, but I did not get your name.”

“I am Rhys.”

“Welcome, Rhys. I’m Gabriella.” She reached out to catch Ava by the arm. “Please see to it that Rhys has a seat at the table. He is from—”

“I know where he’s from. He’s the rider who brought you that letter.” Ava’s eyes narrowed. “It was from Boromir, wasn’t it?”

“It seems he was afraid Miss Gabriella would worry,” Rhys broke in softly. “And he wished to put her mind at ease.”

Ava’s eyes narrowed but all she said was, “Well, come with me, Rhys, and I will help you get settled.”

“I thank you.” Rhys turned back to Gabriella. “I will leave with the sun, so you must have your letter to me before you go to sleep for the night.”

“I will.” Gabriella smiled and then excused herself to go make her way down the the winding street and then on to the tavern. It wouldn’t be long before the evening crowd, such as it was, was coming in looking for a bit of an escape.

Although her parents had been gone for several weeks, hints of them hung in the air—the faint scent of cinnamon that always seemed to cling to Mama, and the leather and ale that followed Papa like a shadow. They had taken only what was absolutely necessary and more than once, had tried to convince her to join them. But, she’d stood hard and fast. She was not leaving unless she absolutely had to and that was that.

The apartments were simple and cozy—the great room, the kitchen, two bedrooms and beyond them, the necessary. The great room was empty, save for Dory, who looked up as Gabriella came in. “Are you all right? You look upset.”

“I’m fine. Well, mostly fine. I’ve heard form Boromir.” She held up the letter, then sighed as she added, “He arrived in Rivendell without incident, but has since left and the rider could or would not say to where he was going next.”

“At least you know he is well, though. That has to ease your mind.”

“It did for a moment, but now that I know he’s no longer safely ensconced at Rivendell, the worry starts all over again.”

“Do you think Elrond knows where he is going?”

“I’m certain he does.” Gabriella passed through the great room to her small, but tidy bedroom, and crossed to her narrow bed, tucked in the corner, beneath two windows, where she slipped the letter beneath her pillow. Somehow, she had the feeling it would be read and reread a thousand times over until she saw him again. “The rider, Rhys, has kindly offered to remain here until morning and to bring with him my reply, although he could not say for certain whether or not Boromir will ever see it.”

“Hopefully, he will.”

“I hope so.” She turned to gaze out the window. “It’s so gray all the time now. I miss the sun.”

“The air even feels different,” Dory said as she sank onto the wide windowsill. “Do you notice it or am I just going mad?”

“No, you’re not,” Gabriella shook her head, “unless I am, too, because I thought I was the only one who felt it.”

“It’s heavy and I always just rather feel like crying.”

“Me, too.” She looked over at Dory and let out a laugh that had no mirth to it. “Any time I hear anything that even remotely sounds like a horn, my heart stops for a moment.”

“He will return.”

“We don’t know that,” Gabriella murmured, rising from the bed to move closer to the window. “I keep telling myself he will because he promised me he would, but in truth, it was a promise he might not be able to keep. And any time I hear what I think is that sound, my heart stops. And I am not even certain we would be able to hear it, should he blow it. We are not soldiers.”

“You have to tell yourself he will be fine, Gab. You will lose your mind otherwise.”

“I also have to be realistic, though, lest I find myself with a broken heart.” Her eyes stung as she stared out into the growing darkness. Her thoughts were as dark as the skies above and she was afraid she’d not be able to get them down on paper in any coherent form.

Dory rose and crossed to her, placing a hand on her shoulder. “I’ll leave you to your thoughts. Do you want supper before we go below to open up?”

“I’m not at all hungry, Dory.”

“You haven’t been eating much.”

“I just haven’t the heart.”

“He certainly wouldn’t want you wasting away to nothing. I’ll bring you up a plate.”

“Please, don’t go to the trouble,” Gabriella smiled at her. “I’m fine.”

“You need to eat, Gabriella.”

“You sound like my mother.”

“Good.” Dory gave her shoulder a squeeze, then let go to move to the door. “I’ll go set up the taproom and open the doors. Although, I wonder how many people will even be out tonight.”

“Most likely the usuals.”

Dory sighed. “If Ava comes in, should I tell her who wrote you that letter?”

Gabriella chuckled. “I should say yes, but no. I’d rather not share it with anyone else.”

“You’re going to reread it, aren’t you?”

“It’s entirely possible.”

“Very well. Good luck with your reply.”

Dory didn't wait for her to reply, but slipped around the door and closed it softly behind her. Gabriella turned back to the window. Darkness seemed to fall so much earlier these days, but that was most likely simply because of the gloom. Sauron, no doubt, casting his influence over the lands, doing what he could to drain the hope from every living soul who had any remaining.

She would not surrender hers so easily. Until she heard otherwise, Boromir was fine and he would continue to be fine and that was that. So, with that, she turned away to settle at the small writing desk along the far wall, and took out paper and pen and smiled as she dipped the pen into the inkwell.

The sun did its best to try to break through the iron-gray clouds for the first time in what felt like weeks, and seeing the world’s optimism cheered Gabriella up as she made her way along the wide corridor toward the entrance to the Great Hall.

Rhys was there, his horse being brought to him by one of the grooms as she stepped out onto the veranda. “Good morning,” he called, smiling up at her. “I was wondering if perhaps you’d changed your mind. I was just about to leave, so I’m glad to see you didn't.”

“No, I didn’t. Instead, I overslept this morning, so I am ever so thankful you waited a bit longer. But thank you so very much for doing this.” She came down to the drive and approached him. “I do appreciate it.”

“Think nothing of it, Miss Gabriella. Besides, there was a peaceful night’s sleep in it for me, so it was well worth it.”

“Just the same. You have no idea how much this means to me and how grateful I am.” She held out the letter. “Please be careful on your way back to Rivendell.”

Rhys took her letter and tucked it into his leather satchel. “I will be. We are still far enough out that Sauron’s armies are not a true threat just yet. But, they’re coming. It won’t be long now.”

“I know.” As she spoke, what pale light managed to filter through the clouds faded and she felt the first droplets of the incessant rain as they pattered down onto her head. “You should go then, before the weather worsens. Take care and thank you again.”

He bobbed his head. “I will see that Master Boromir gets your letter to the best of my ability.”

With that, he swung up into the saddle, gripped the reins, and clicked his tongue against his teeth. The horse ambled down the road, and as the rain fell harder, Rhys nudged it into a canter. Gabriella remained where she was, ignoring the icy rain pouring over her, until she could see neither horse nor rider any longer.

Her spirits sank back into her feet then. She shoved her wet hair out of her eyes as the sounds of wars exploded around her, far closer than they’d been thus far. This time, she felt the vibrations of each explosion and perhaps it was but her imagination, but she’d swear she heard shouting, whereas up until now, the only noises were those of machines of war and not the men fighting it.

One thunderous boom made her jump, as it felt as if the entire city shifted. And perhaps it had, for in its wake came the ominous sound of breaking rock that didn't sound far away. Neither did the ensuing crash that shook the city once more.

“You should be indoors, miss.”

She turned at the unexpected voice and found herself almost eye to eye with an unfamiliar man. “I beg your pardon?”

“I mean, unless you’ve come to help.”

“Help?” She shook her head. “I wouldn’t know what to do.”

He smiled. “No, I don't suppose you would.”

She bristled. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“It means you should be with the other women, Miss. I do believe most have fled the city entirely. Perhaps it would be wise for you to do the same.”

“I am not going anywhere, sir. I will remain here, with you and the others.” She patted the sword pommel at her hip, as she’d taken to wearing it when she ventured away from the tavern. As the battle drew closer, and more strangers found their way into Minas Tirith, she simply felt more comfortable knowing she could defend herself if need be.

And that she owed entirely to Boromir, for he was the one who insisted on teaching her how to handle the smaller sword, should the need to defend herself ever arrive. Over time, she’d gone from a clumsy accident-looking-for-a-place-to-happen to having quite a few skills now. He’d been an excellent teacher, blessed with endless patience where she was concerned. He’d taught her how to move her feet, the proper way to swing where she’d generate the most power with the smallest amount of expended energy. He’d taught her how to sweep her opponent’s legs out from beneath him, send him flying into the ground, and how to disarm him in the blink of an eye. She’d never done it, though, for despite Boromir’s assurances she’d not hurt him, she couldn't ever muster up the anger needed to try to take his legs out from under him. No matter how much he goaded her—and he was a master at goading her, to be honest—she just couldn’t do it.

The man’s gaze went to where her hands rested on that small pommel, and he said, “That looks hardly sharp enough to open a letter.”

“I promise you, it is plenty sharp. The steward’s son himself made certain of that.”

“And you know how to wield it?”

Her fingers tightened as the hint of challenge she heard in his rumbling voice. “I do, indeed. And should the enemy find its way into our city, I will fight right alongside any of you. But for now, I keep the tavern up and running.”

“Which we all absolutely appreciate.” He smiled then. “It is as important as what we are doing.”

“It isn’t much, but thank you just the same.”

He bobbed his head. “And thank you as well. Now, if you will excuse me.” He gestured over his shoulder with one hand. “I must get back.”

“Be careful.”

“You as well.”

By the time she reached the tavern, it was dark enough that one could be forgiven for thinking it was the middle of the night. She paused on the steps that led to the kitchen as a bright orange flash in the distance caught her eye. They happened more and more lately, and where they had been mere blips in the distance only a few weeks previously, now, they were actual flashes.

The war was definitely coming closer.

Custo with his fellow military janitorial and cleanup crewmates on Space Riders spaceships were unfortunately caught in the crossfire between Space Riders’ forces and the Prototype’s cult. The recent intense battle had both parties sustain heavy casualties.

Medical staff unfortunately reported that the wounds that Custo has are intense (not able to use surgery due numerous factors) and will have to wear a special mask (inspired by Joseph Merrick’s Elephant Man mask) to cover his sustained disfigurement.

When it was that time for gala events happen again; Custo wanted to help out to set up (and clean up later) but bit concerned how many will react his current appearance. Yet thanks to the encouragement of Dogday and other Space Riders, he showed up as one of service busboys as he usually do.

As a bonus; he had a bit of heart for music entertainment. With the help of other crewmates, they performed songs as part of charity work for wounded military veterans etc.
