look, I’m tech stupid and so admittedly I don’t know how this would work, but it would be incredibly FANTASTIC if there were secure text-based/non-phone call-based ways to communicate remotely with doctors that didn’t require giving non-HIPAA-bound companies access to my personal medical data
because frankly, it sucks but yeah, I do give them access because if I have to call by phone to request each thing individually and keep track manually of when I need refills of everything (and they’re on different refill cycle lengths and from different pharmacies), I will mess up sometimes and suffer the consequences. I’m lucky, I won’t die or have my health and survival endangered or anything. I’ll just be in pain. Patient portals and communicate-via-text plans are such a wonderful sounding idea for accessibility reasons but I wish they were more secure and private...

Employee attendance System
An employee attendance system is a software or hardware solution that helps organizations accurately track and manage employee attendance. There are several types of employee attendance systems available, including:
Time and attendance software: This type of system is software-based and allows employees to clock in and out using a computer or mobile device. It can also include features such as shift scheduling, overtime tracking, and leave management.
Biometric attendance systems: This type of system uses biometric technology such as fingerprint or facial recognition to identify employees and record their attendance. It is highly accurate and eliminates the possibility of buddy punching (employees clocking in for each other).
RFID and NFC attendance systems: These systems use electronic tags or badges that employees can tap on a reader to record their attendance. They are quick and convenient, but can be less secure than biometric systems.
Employee attendance systems offer several benefits, including:
Improved accuracy: Automated attendance systems eliminate errors that can occur with manual attendance tracking, such as data entry mistakes or misinterpretation of handwriting.
Time-saving: Automated attendance systems reduce the time and effort required to track and manage employee attendance, freeing up HR staff to focus on other tasks.
Real-time data: Attendance systems provide real-time data on employee attendance, making it easy to identify issues such as absenteeism or tardiness.
Compliance: Attendance systems can help organizations comply with labor laws and regulations by accurately tracking employee work hours and overtime.

How Can TrackOlap Boost your Employer’s Brand with Efficient Time Tracking?
There is no doubt that the remote workforce model is here to stay. In fact, with the intervention of the hybrid model, remote work culture is widely expanding its roots. But unfortunately, only 40% of managers have the skills to manage a remote team. Now, that’s a big drawback for companies because remote/hybrid is the new normal workforce model. Now, no need to panic! Because TrackOlap has already developed a dedicated remote team management software for Indian companies.
Our remote workforce management software is designed to handle all the remote work challenges, such as:
● Making remote work easy and simple for employees ● Clearly setting remote work rules ● Building a transparent and responsible work environment ● Filling the remote leadership skill gaps ● Improving work-personal life balance ● Setting accountability ● Seamless communication and more Remote employee management is challenging. But having the right tool and skill by your side can make it super easy to run a successful remote workforce model in your organization.
This post will help you understand how you can build an effective remote workforce model using simple techniques and employee monitoring software. So, let’s get started.
#1. Set a Clear Remote Work Model
The very first thing that you should do to create a successful remote work model in your company actually creates one. If you don’t set rules and regulations to work in a remote environment, your employee will have no base to work.
They will have no clue what they are expected to do and whom they should report. So, foremost, you should sit down with your whole team and draft a company’s remote work policy.
For this purpose, you can use our policy management solution to map out a comprehensive remote work policy, including:
● Communicate methods and tools ● Remote working hours ● Performance evaluation standards ● Company goals ● Leave and break time, etc.
#2. Establish a Cohesive Work Culture
The way to a successful remote workforce model goes through a healthy remote work culture. You must put extra effort into strengthening a bond between your team members, despite location barriers.
A company’s work culture can make or break your business. According to a Jobvite survey, more than half of job seekers consider a good work culture before applying for a job.
But how can I create a good remote work culture in my workplace?
Simply using TrackOlap employee monitoring software. Our remote employee monitoring dashboard can help in setting positive work culture in many ways, such as:
● Marking attendance. Despite the location or time zones, your entire remote team can punch in/out attendance in real-time. This way, managers can set the same attendance and leave rules for everyone. ● Two-way communication model. Through a centralized dashboard, remote employees can easily communicate with their subordinates and seniors. ● Instant feedback. Managers can provide real-time feedback to remote workers based on accurate data-driven reports. This allows employees to self-improve and become effective team players.
#3. Adopt Flexible Work Approach
Most traditional workforce management methods fail in remote environments because they lack flexibility. To make remote work successful, flexibility is key.
Although a fixed plan is important to manage your workload, still having some room for wiggle in your remote workflow is essential. For this, you need to put some control in your remote employee's hands so they can make a few decisions on their own, like:
● Decide their own working hours ● Manage their daily schedule, etc.
But, won’t this way I’ll lose control over my remote task force?
No, you won’t because our remote employee management software is designed to give flexibility to remote workers without employers losing control.
For instance, using the website/application usage tracker, employers can check which app or website their employees have used and for how long. This knowledge will allow managers to reduce idle time and boost productivity.
Therefore, you should provide some flexibility to your remote team members but keep on monitoring them in the background using advanced employee monitoring technology.
#4. Track the Overall Progress
The remote work model doesn’t allow you to be a helicopter boss. You can’t ask for frequent updates from your employees or micromanage their schedules in a remote work model.
You simply have to give a work schedule to your employees with proper instructions and a timeline to accomplish it. And sit back!
You should only intervene when your employees ask for, or you find your team struggling to meet deadlines. To make work allocation and management simpler, we have also added a task management solution into our remote workforce management software.
This feature allows managers to assign tasks to individual team members set priorities and timelines. It will also provide real-time progress status so managers can ensure that deadlines are being met.
#5. Delegate Task Effectively
Delegating work has always been a challenge for managers. But, for remote managers, it is a mammoth challenge. Lack of physical connection makes it harder for remote team managers to delegate duties to other team members.
Most managers are worried that their team members will not take the task seriously or complete it on time. Thus, they keep on stuffing everything on their own plate, which only overwhelms them in the end.
Once again, employee monitoring software comes to the rescue. Using this solution, managers can make a person accountable for completing a task. Also, they can monitor work progress in real-time and constantly provide feedback.
So, if you are a remote team manager, ensure that your company has a proper remote management system in order.
#6. Keep Communication Clear and Concise
It is essential for remote managers to have a clear communication line with their staff members. Clear communication helps to set deadlines, solve work-related issues, convey managers’ expectations, manage company resources, define work schedules, and more.
Therefore, managers have to map out the whole remote communication policy in the company. Using the policy management software , they can draft a comprehensive communication policy, including:
● Which communication tools are the best fits in your team culture - email, texts, video chats, etc. ● What is an ideal time to reply back to a message? ● How long will a virtual team meeting be conducted?
#7. Build Connections with Your Team
One of the major disadvantages of remote work culture is isolation and depression. Many workers feel disoriented and alone while working remotely. They miss small talks with their team members during lunch break, brainstorming sessions, and get-togethers after work.
Remote work might have made employees more productive, but it has made them anti-social. So, being a remote team leader, you have to make some efforts to bring social harmony back to your team.
Here are a few things that you can try to make your remote team feel connected:
● Constant follow-ups and one-on-one interactions ● Monitor progress reports finding tell signs of low morale and depression ● Give leniency to set their own work schedule ● Provide regional local holidays ● Build transparent work culture to harness trust and harmony among your team members
#8. Reward and Recognition Program
Managers should look for opportunities to celebrate success and milestones achieved by their team members. They should make efforts to recognize the talented people present in their team. This practice will bring two benefits to your remote work culture
● First, it will boost the morale of talented people to motivate them to keep on working hard. ● Second, it might encourage low performers to buck up.
Besides this, reward and recognition help to build a strong employer brand, which is crucial to attract new talented professionals and motivate them to work for you.
#9. Revamp Your Onboarding Process
Since we are on the topic of hiring new employees, it is vital for remote teams to revamp their onboarding process.
To hire competent remote workers, you have to use the latest HR software to make the hiring process simple and easy for your team members. From onboarding to training remote employees, you need to use a comprehensive platform to hire remote employees.
There is no need to look for the best human resource software anywhere else. At TrackOlap, you will also find a powerful HRM platform to hire, manage and train remote workers.
Let’s Build a Successful Remote Work Model!
Building a remote work model is no longer an option for companies. It is a compulsion that they have to fulfill in lieu to grow in this post-pandemic era.
However, it is not that hard to build a successful remote work model—especially today, when the TrackOlap team has already prepared a complete remote employee management toolkit for you.
From employee monitoring to performance reporting, we have all the right tools ready for managers to effectively run remote team operations. So, all you have to do is book a free demo session with us today and learn how to build a successful remote workforce model.

daniel jacobi in the wolf 359 finale is in the fucking scenario of all time. imagine. imagine that, after a tense hostage situation, you get shot in the leg, even though you did nothing to deserve it. this is a non-issue, of course, because thankfully your evil science overlords brought an automated surgery system with them. leg gets patched up. you take none of their meds. eventually your team figures out that they probably popped a tracker in your open wound while their spaceship was playing operation™️ so, either by your own volition or someone else’s suggestion, you end up with the job of distracting the super dangerous dude who basically specializes in murdering other super dangerous dudes while everyone else handles the rest of the station. you decide to do this by locking yourself in a room with him. you probably have a little hand-to-hand combat training, but making shit blow up isn’t necessarily an intimate activity. you are only moderately dangerous. also, you still have a bullet wound. also, you’re a bit of an asshole. and for some reason you brought confetti into space.
so you get the absolute shit beat out of you for probably the better part of the day while everyone else does their part before the bomb you planted earlier finally joins the party and blows up the room you’re in. thankfully, you’re an expert, so you get out of the way in time to not end up in bits and exit this room probably feeling pretty good about how the plan turned out. only to join the rest of the crew to find that your captain is asleep, your commander is bleeding out in a pool of her own blood, your comms officer has no memory of what the hell he’s even doing here, the AI in charge of the station is rebooting, there are 11 minutes before you all end up freefalling into the star you’re orbiting, and someone fucking harpooned your (ex) boss. so you, your bullet wound, and your various injuries from several hours of losing at physical combat and surviving a bomb exploding gather everyone up into the one functioning ship you have left and take off into space. and somehow you still had the most normal day out of everyone else there

heyy so I literally got this kind of idea like not really long ago, how about a donnie x reader fic/scenario/prompt where donnie makes a new AI hologram assistant (the reader) but ends up falling in love with them ?? (kind of blade runner 2049 inspired)
thanks ! luv your work (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)
一∑ Dizzy・゜・。

author’s notes: so this may not be exactly what you asked for, this donnie is a bit… cagey? protective? overbearing! but hopefully the ending is a good indication that he did indeed fall?? :D
warnings: fluff, platonic to romantic, cursing, very unedited, & super short >.<
word association: sentience, slight yandere!donnie, light projection, holograms, creation, possessive, obsessive, fluff, change, feelings
song: “ Round & Round by Selena Gomez ”
—————————————————————————
“Y/n”
Donnie waited for you to appear in his vision as he was glued to a new construct. Both hands busy with small tools that required the utmost care and attention. And patience.
He waited a couple of more seconds before a crease appeared between his draw on brows.
Seriously?
“Y/n!”
Donnie shouted louder. There was no way you couldn’t hear him. He was this close to pushing up his goggles but like magic you apparated in his vision. A tiny version of yourself in the corner of his eyesight, “Yyyessss?”
You drawled, dipping forward dramatically but not obscuring his view of his hands so he could continue his work.
“Where are you?”
Habitually it seemed he had to ask you this. He was like this with Shelldon too. But ever since you started getting curious and venturing out of his lab, he just had to at least check in…
He would have just checked your holo-tracker but his hands were busy at the moment. So calling out your name was more efficient. His wrist tech was voice automated and connected to your system easily enough.
“And why did you ignore my first call?”
He questioned further, eyebrows still drawn. His tongue peeked out between his lips as he carefully pieced together two small bits in the right formation.
“I thought we agreed Donnie. If you didn’t need me, I could explore the perimeters!”
You glitched momentarily, moving from the corner to right in the center of his vision before going back to your original place with a raised brow.
“Yes yes. That was the agreement but addendum six was—“
You groaned.
“Y/n it’s been… how long has it been..?”
He just knew it had to be four or so hours since you last checked in. Which meant he could call! As per agreement! If you didn’t check in then he would worry and a time frame was even added into fine print for this very purpose! Donatello prided himself on thinking of every-little-thing!
“It’s been 30 minutes.”
His eyes widened. Looking at you now and squinting.
No way.
You sighed dramatically as you brought up the time. Sure enough. It was only 2:30 in the morning. Not 5.
“Ah, well my mistake.”
Donnie placed down the tools and pushed up his goggles. The zoomed in version of his project gone, as well as the time and your miniature self.
He could still hear you though with his headphones on.
“You didn’t answer my first question…”
He still wanted to know.
“I think that should be void considering you can just check now!”
Your voice was exasperated but it had a teasing quality.
“I’d rather you tell me,”
“With your brothers!”
“What?!”
No response. “Y/n?” No response still. He grumbled bringing his goggles back down and yep, you were gone. He shoved them back up and shot out of his chair.
Two years ago. Donatello went a step further from robots. A step further from Shelldon, definitely still a very proud achievement of his! You were a hologram program. One that connected just like Shelldon to all of Donatello’s devices and gadgets. But you didn’t have a physical body. You were a pure light so to speak. And while Donnie had agreed for you to explore…he hadn’t really disclosed another sentient being in the lab to his brothers.
Selfishly… Donnie had created you solely for him. While Shelldon had been sort of a prank but definitely for his brothers… you weren’t.
“Y/n.” Shelldon whispered harshly as he peeked out of the doorway from his lab. You were nowhere in the vicinity. He scowled. “If this is supposed to be funny, let me be very clear! It is not!” Then Donnie started to rush with his words while he crept further out into the lair.
“Those dumdums have no idea of your existence Y/n! For all we know they could— I don’t know! Attack?!”
You were radio silent. And it annoyed to Donnie to know end. You were ignoring him on purpose. Dragging him away from work to chase you down. And he would do the dragging this time, right back to his side if he must!
The further he went, the more apprehensive he felt. He could hear music. He could hear hollering. It was not the right cues that said ‘Y/n is just pranking me! They wouldn’t reveal themselves without my go-ahead! Surely!’ Yeah none of that was feeling close to happening right now. Donatello’s teeth ground together as he gave up being stealthy in favor of finally seeing what the fuck was happening.
And boy was he in for a shock.
As he cleared a corner that gave him a full view of the arcade that stretched down a distance away. The DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) was on, bass pumping throughout the room. A beautiful voice beckoning him closer like a siren’s song. Where Raph was dancing on one side. And you on the other.
Donnie stopped short. His breath catching as he watched your hologram dance, when your shoes met the correct arrows your whole body took on a glow of purple, blue, red, and yellow. It reflected throughout your entire being. You hit perfect after perfect, head tipped back in laughter as Raph started to trip up, losing his footing and sweating profusely. You on the other hand would never tire.
You were completely energized. You were having fun! It shined in your eyes. It reminded him of how you were when he first created you. When everything he introduced to you excited you.
Donnie felt like such an ass. Keeping you tucked away from the rest of the lair. From his brothers. From the world! As he watched you now he knew he was going to have to change. Because he surely wasn’t letting you go completely. But maybe he needed to loosen up, him and his contract.
Because he wanted you to be like this more. To smile more. To be exuberant and full of life! And he couldn’t stop smiling as you tilted your head towards him. You didn’t falter, you just smiled brighter and winked as the song came to a close and the points were tallied up.
Of course anything created by Donnie would be extraordinary at dancing. Therefore it didn’t surprise him one bit that you received a maximum score of 10,000,000. What did throw him off guard was the rapid pace of his heart. And maybe a bit dizzy? He hadn’t even been the one dancing!
Yeah this wasn’t good!

Suguru
Your call has been forwarded to an automated voice message. . .
Call forty-four, and I’ve yet to hear from Y/N. She possibly couldn’t be ignoring my calls, my texts. . . I know she wouldn’t ignore me because she said we could continue our affair. I’m getting frustrated. My cock is getting frustrated. If something happened, she would’ve told me. . . Right?
  Right, Suguru.
We were doing so well last week. Talking on the phone. Video chatting. She even sent me sexy photos of herself. I know my cock has been tired seeing my hand, but fuck, that woman makes me feels like an animal. I can’t help but be in love with Y/N. She belongs to me. Not that sad excuse of a husband.
From the moment she agreed to our agreement, I knew there was a possibility of her ghosting me might happen, so I prepared myself. After I had the pleasure of fucking that perfect pussy of hers, we parted ways. At least, that’s what I made her think.
I followed her around for the rest of the day while she ran errands. You know… just to make sure she’s safe. I don’t need no other fucker trying to hit on what’s mine.
  She’s not yours, Suguru.
 Yes she is.
She just doesn’t know it yet.
I’m not sure if I should call her for the forty-fifth time. I don’t want to come off as too pushy, but her not responding is annoying me. And I know she’s home. I checked the tracker I left between her car seats and I see she’s been in the same spot for the past week. So I figured that’s where she lives.
I’m going to sleep now. Talk to you tomorrow?
I stare at the last text message she sent to me. I mean… it didn’t seem like anything was wrong. We just finished having phone sex and it was pretty late. But if Y/N said she was going to talk to me tomorrow, she should’ve talked to me tomorrow.
Tomorrow was a fucking week ago.
Wait… what if something happened to her? What if her fucker of a husband found out about us and he’s trying to keep me away from her?
 No.
I can’t let that happen. Not when I need her.
It would be too creepy if I showed up to her apartment. Maybe I should just send Y/N another text asking to meet up at the bakery I saw her at the last time? Yeah, I think I’ll do that.
I just want Y/N to know I’m worried—
 My phone is ringing.
I knew she wasn’t ignoring me.
 “Y/N, hey-”
 “ Nope .”
I remove my phone from my ear to see it’s Satoru calling me. Awesome.
“Oh. It’s just you,” I say nonchalantly.
“ Well, damn. It’s nice talking to my best friend, too, ” he teases. “ Mad because I’m not your girlfriend? ”
I deeply sigh, squeezing the bridge of my nose.  “What do you want, Satoru?”
“ What are you doing tomorrow night? ”
  Fisting my cock to Y/N.
 “Nothing. Why?”
“ The Zen’ins’ are throwing some big fancy event, ” Satoru tells me.
I arch my brow as if he could see me through the phone.  “And what does this have to do with me?”
“ Do you know who Y/N is married to? ”
 “No?”
“ Toji Zen’in, meaning nine times out of ten, she will be there. I know you said you haven’t heard from her in a while. Maybe you’ll see her .”
She’s fucking married to him? Out of all people, that is who she chooses to spend her life with?
I’ve met that fucker a few times. I did a couple of his tattoos. Hate him, but he pays good money so I just tolerated the jackass. Knowing my Y/N is giving her pussy, love, and time to him makes me even more angry.
 I need answers.
I need to know why the fuck she hasn’t been responding to phone calls and text messages. She can’t fucking promise an affair just to leave me and my cock dry.
It doesn’t work like that.
 “I’ll go.”
Tumblr media
Reader
I tilt my head back and allow the hot water to hit my skin while I take a shower. It’s been a week since I last spoke to Suguru and two weeks since I told Toji I cheated. My life has been… complicating, to say the least.
I decided not to speak to Suguru anymore because I know Toji means well on his threats and I don’t need my husband killing someone on my behalf… again. I honestly thought he left to go find Suguru. However, when he returned home, I texted Suguru and he was okay.
That was the last I heard of him.
When Toji came home a few days after our argument, we went from having small talk to not talking at all. Only having quiet breakfasts and dinners together. We’d steal glances, but that’s about it. Though, he has been sleeping in our bed lately, which I find weird.
We haven’t slept next to each in months. His excuse? He said he didn’t want to wake me up since he comes home late from work. A pathetic excuse because Toji knows I don’t care if I’m woken up as long as I’m sleeping in his arms. There was a time where his arms felt like home to me…
  Anyways .
Just earlier Toji watched me stripped naked to prepare for my shower. We stared at each other through the mirror. His body, muscular, covered in tattoos and scars, having only his briefs on to leave me with my imagination of his cock I haven’t seen in months. Toji hasn’t looked at me for that long in a while.
 I was self-conscious.
Marriage only made my body fuller. More curvier in these past seven years. My insecurity of him not being attracted to me anymore only heightened the longer he watched me. But when my eyes roamed down his body, they stopped at the front of briefs.
  He was hard.
And I’m not talking about semi hard. I mean straining hard, like he was uncomfortable. I sucked in a soft breath and pulled my eyes away to look at his face that flushed a rose color across his cheeks.
 I felt… desired.
The desire I’ve been yearning for months that I found with Suguru.
That silent moment I had with Toji and the lack of communication with Suguru is all I’ve been thinking about since I got in the shower. I didn’t even start washing myself yet.
I grabbed my body wash to pour on my loofah, and just when I was about to scrub myself, the shower door opened.
I wasn’t startled because I knew it was Toji, but I was surprised because it was Toji. The last time we showered together was on his thirty-ninth birthday. We had sex. Amazing sex at that. What’s the likelihood of us recreating that memory right now? Slim to none.
 I turn to face him.
 I don’t say anything.
He doesn’t say anything but stares at me with those jade color hues I fell in love with ten years ago. I held his contact and I saw… hunger in his eyes.
  You’re imagining things, Y/N.
Toji grabs my loofah and begins washing me, starting with my arms. He drags the loofah along my chest, down the mountain of my breasts, which he scrubs next. Toji took his time washing my tits. Something so simple like washing your partner’s body can be intimate and pussy soaking. Because that’s all I feel right now.
 Drenched.
 Turned on.
He knows I am. That’s why he slowly circles my full, perfectly saggy tits with the loofah.
All of this while never breaking eye contact.
He has me sit on the shower bench, lowering him to his knees to wash my legs. After he finishes with one leg, he spreads me open to clean the other one. Why? I don’t know, but I comply. For the first time since coming in the shower, he breaks contact to look elsewhere.
My puffy pussy that’s dying to be touched.
I’m no longer under the shower head and the water isn’t touching me since Toji is in front of me. He notices how wet I am, looks at me, then takes a deep breath that could be mistaken as a groan.
He stands me up, turning me around to wash my back. While doing so, I felt his cock brush against my ass. A moan touched my lips, causing Toji to stop and I immediately grew embarrassed from my actions.
Me being wet. Moaning. Getting turned on from being washed by Toji. What the hell is wrong with me? I’m in heat. Horny. I want to be fucked by my husband, but my stubbornness is not allowing me to make the first move.
Once he finished taking his time washing my ass, he grabbed the shower head to spray my body. My breaths were slow and steady, chest heaving desperation. Warmth also began spreading across Toji’s cheeks again. I didn’t bother to conceal my need for him.
I looked at his cock and he was hard, veins popping out and leaking precum.
He wants me just as much as I want him.
 I break the silence.
“Are you okay?” I ask, invitingly. However, he doesn’t respond. Toji swiftly lifted me off the shower floor as if I weighed nothing and hooked his arms under my knees while I rested my hands on his broad shoulders.
Again, Toji and I just stare at each other. His cock mere inches away from my pussy. It doesn’t matter how long we haven’t touched each other. Haven’t had sex or slept in the same bed. Once we connect, it feels like the first time again.
I’m needy. Impatient. Starving for his dick inside of me. I just can’t give him the satisfaction of begging. Not like I used to, and not after when I cheated. But lucky for me, Toji doesn’t make me wait.
He unhooks one of his arms to grab his length to align it with my sex. I hold my breath, anticipating the first time I feel him in months.
Breathe is all he says to me before slamming into my pussy. The cry I let out was sharp and loud. I feel embarrassed from sounding like a cat in heat, but I can’t help myself.
 Toji feels so good.
He doesn’t even work his ways into my walls. His thrusts are brutal, but the wetness of my pussy mends the pain and makes it easier for him to slip in and out of me.
I close my eyes to bask in the moment, however, a territorial growl comes from Toji and I know he’s telling me to keep my eyes open and on him as a warning.
I have no intention of not listening to him.
I look into his earth like eyes where I see we share the same lust and craving for each other. Toji starts fucking me harder, more profoundly without missing a pace of his strokes. For a minute, I think of how big Suguru is, but Toji? I’ve been questioning how I’m able to take all nine-in-a-half inches of him inside of me.
Toji fills me to the brim. He stretches my pussy until I’m perfectly molded around his width, taking him like his favorite slut. For years I’ve been Toji’s fuck toy. Maybe to other women, they don’t like being used by their husband, but I do.
I like the feeling of being fucked into oblivion by Toji, until drool coats the side of my lips and tears prick my eyes as they’re doing now.
“T-Toji…” I whimpered. “I miss how you feel inside of me, baby.”
He clicks his tongue, abruptly pounding with a bit more force. “If you miss my cock, why did you let another guy fuck you? Hm?”
 “I-I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Toji. Please… ” What am I begging for? I said I wasn’t going to, but… “Harder.”
“You let another motherfucker use you to help him cum,” Toji says through gritted teeth, thrusting into me harder every word he speaks. “Y/N, you should know I don’t like fucking sharing. Do I have fuck you until you remember who you belong to? Until you know who pussy is this?”
 “Y-Yes.”
He whispers in my ear. “Wrong answer.” How does the wrong answer feel this good?
I feel the coolness of the shower wall on my flesh as Toji fucks me against it. His thrusts are merciless. It felt like he was trying to punish me for my infidelity, making me atone for my sins while being stuffed with cock.
“Fucking being a filthy slut for someone else,” he mutters. “I’m going to stuff you, fill you with every single last drop of my cum. And I have a lot in me, sweetheart. It’s been months.”  He pulls his cock out my pussy, putting me on my feet to push my chest against the wall and force an arch in my back.
Toji didn’t even give me a chance to complain from his loss of touch before sinking deep into my warmth again. His fingers wrapped around my coils to pull while his free hand squeezes my nipples.
I feel overwhelmed. I’m trying to hold back my orgasm to relish this fucking because it may or may not happen again, but I feel a knot coiling in my stomach.
“Y/N, I feel you throbbing around my cock. I know you’re about to cum. So do it,” he orders, letting go of my nipples to slap my ass.
 “I… I don’t want to.”
“Are you saying you’re not going to cum for me when I told you to?” His question comes off as a warning.
This side of Toji is… different. He usually fucks me rough, yes. Though, with tenderness and praising me for taking him well. But now… his intention is to fuck me until I’m numb. Degrading me. Talking down on me like I’m some whore he picked up at a bar.
 I… I like it.
 Actually, I love it.
I can’t hold back any longer. My orgasm creeps up on me and I shatter all over Toji’s cock. I moan, cry, scream, whimper his name like it’s all I know. But he’s not done.
“Gonna keep fucking this greedy pussy until I want. Keep cumming for me and take this cock, Y/N.”
Toji finds his hands at my waist and continues to work me open past my orgasm. I put my hand on his pelvic to alleviate the pressure, but he slaps it away, giving me a slow and long stroke that kisses my sweet spot.
“Oh, fuck. Okay, Toji. I’ll keep taking it,” I cry. “Praise me, baby. Am I doing a good job?”
He chuckles. “Why should I praise you after you cheated? My cock is hard for you. Isn’t that enough?” Embarrassment flushes through my body after being rejected by Toji, but I’m too fucked to care. “You want me to say you’re a good girl? That you’re doing a good job taking my cock? That’s what you want me to say?”
Just hearing those words spill from his mouth makes me squeeze his cock viciously. “Y-Yes, please.”
“Fuck, Y/N,” he grunts, pulling me up by my coils again to ghost over my ears. “I’m supposed to fucking hate you. Hate you for cheating on me, but I can’t. Not when you sound pathetically sexy while I’m pounding this good… fucking pussy. This fucking pussy you gave to someone else.”
Toji won’t stop fucking me. My legs are growing weak and I feel the sweetest pain in my hips. I meet with his thrusts and bounce my ass on him because I know he loves when I try, even if won’t tell me that now.
The grunts and growls that came from Toji have now joined me with moans. His dick throbs inside me indicating his near release. Toji doesn’t get sloppy when he’s about to cum. He goes harder. He pounds into me until I feel light and my wetness echoes in the bathroom.
I can’t go back to Suguru after this. No matter how good his dick is, no one knows my body the way Toji does. How he makes ke cum feels like a rare experience. My body only responds to Toji this way. This fucking reminds me that I’m forever his.
No one else’s.
“Toji, please. Please cum inside of me, baby. I want your cum so badly,” I cry, fucking him back.
His dick twitches. “Begging me to breed this pussy?
“Yes. I want you cum with me. Please cum with me, Toji.”
 “Stop talking, Y/N.”
 I know he’s close.
“I love your cock, baby. You always fuck me so good,” I tell him.
He told me not to hold back, but I know his cum is a few thrusts away from spilling inside of me.
“Y/N,” he says, attempts to warn me, but fails with a groan.
“I know this pussy is yours. I’m sorry. I won’t cheat again. I’m yours, Toji. Only yours.”
 “Fuck!”
He kissed my sweet spot a few more times before drowning my pussy with his release. His strokes don't soften, ensuring every drop of him is pounded deeply in my walls. I cum for the second time and this I squirt on Toji’s cock, between my thighs, on the floor until my wetness causes him to abruptly slip out of me.
I shake uncontrollably because the overstimulation of cumming back to back overwhelms my body. Getting fucked Toji does that to me.
And I know he isn’t finished with me. He turns off the shower, picks me up bridal style, making his way to our room where he throws me on the bed and continues to fuck me until I’m numb.

was looking through my camera roll & realized i never posted about this?? but i did a check please theme in my bullet journal back in april & i am still beyond obsessed with how it turned out!
Tumblr media
task list & cover page
Tumblr media
april was all about finishing my fucking thesis (i earned my mfa in stage automation in may) & i used the task list to break down each section of my thesis & make it less intimidating. i still pulled a bitty & had to marathon write most of my thesis within a like 36 hour period. i slept so good once that draft was finished!
Tumblr media
when i started planning this theme, i flipped through the comic & decided pretty quickly i wanted the cover to be this view of faber from 4.25 "faber". i filled the outside with some of my favorite details from throughout the comic, including (clockwise from top left) the "text from chowder: i'm shouting!" from 4.2 "nonstop celly", jack's "oh" moment from 2.17 "graduation", the jack lego (?) figure from 3.1 "wag", dex & nursey's background roach & house bubbles & (i think it's) ransom's "et tu lardo?" bubble from 2.12 "post i: roadie", one of my fave senor bun appearances that didn't make it into a weekly from 1.16 "linemates", & bitty's phone (i don't think there's a specific appearance of bitty's phone that looks like this, at least not that i'm finding in the flip-throughs i've done to write this post. i think i did a lil freehand moment with it, but if anyone happens to find it in the comic, let me know!), as well as my usual little calendar & monthly focuses section
Tumblr media
monthly calendar & habit tracker
Tumblr media
the monthly calendar & playlist is inspired by the smh team roster hanging on the bulletin board in the haus at the beginning of year 2
Tumblr media
the habit tracker features a few other details from 2.1 “moved in”, namely the “haus sweet haus” rug & the sock pinned to the bulletin board. the shopping list bubble is a callback to the “jizz!” speech bubble also pinned to the bulletin board next to the sock
Tumblr media
meal & time trackers
Tumblr media
the breakfast, lunch, & dinner headers are a callback to the hockey puck taped to the bulletin board
Tumblr media
not much to add here, but it’s a great time to mention the “it’s tough but you’re tougher” speech bubble from 4.20 “spotlight on eric bittle” which was the quote i used to decorate my grad cap ❤️
Tumblr media
weekly #1 is modeled after y1 & features my favorite y1 senor bun appearance (1.18 “playoffs - i”) & line (1.8 “checking clinic”)
Tumblr media
weekly #2 is modeled after y2 & features my favorite y2 senor bun (2.10 "shinny") & line (2.4 "hazeapalooza")
Tumblr media
weekly #3 is modeled after y3 & features my favorite y3 senor bun (3.3 "meet the falconers") & line (3.26 "cup v - post")
Tumblr media
weekly #4 is modeled after y4 (the layout of the top panel specifically is modeled after the first panel of 4.16 "christmas in madison - iii" which shows a bunch of the christmas pics/posts from the rest of smh & tater) & features my favorite y4 senor bun (4.17 "senior thesis") & line (also 4.17 "senior thesis"). i has some extra space, so i included some excerpts from bitty's y4 tweets
Tumblr media
camp nanowrimo tracker, before the pen. the left is just a table for tracking time spent on & words written for my thesis & the novel i've been working on forever. my camp nanowrimo goal was to write 1 hour every weekend day & 2 hours every week day, for a grand total of 50 hours, which i am proud to say i achieved! the right is a visual tracker, where each pie was equal to an hour of writing. i included 50 pies for my 50 hour goal. the bubble near the top is from 1.4 "the haus" with 2 footnotes i added; one on "kitchens" that says "word docs", & one on "pies" that says "words". clearly i think i'm very clever lol
Tumblr media
visual tracker, filled in. i surpassed my 50 hour goal with about a week left in the month, & i wanted to include that additional progress on my tracker. once the month was done & i knew how much i needed to add, i made a tip-in (although this might just be a fold-out lol) to tape in. on one side, i included the dialogue bubbles from a panel of 3.19 "keagster"
Tumblr media
on the other side of the tip-in/flip-out, i included jam jars for the additional 10.25 hours of writing i did, plus "it's gonna be two trips" also from 3.19 "keagster"
& that's all the spreads! spreads were done in an archer & olive b5 notebook. supplies include: mildliners in the colors vermillion, dark blue, beige, & gray; a black papermate flair, a white gellyroll pen in size 08, and stabilo pens in gray and brown. oh, & a piece of masking tape, bc i couldn't find any clear tape lol

A/N Guys I have to have spreadsheets just to keep all the tributes straight
~
The next morning didn’t even feel like morning, you were too nervous about the games to sleep. So was Haymitch as you both whispered assurances in each others ears. Neither of you were stupid. While you were confident in Plutarch’s plan there was still a very real possibility that one or both of you would be killed by another tribute or the game makers. But you both suppressed those feelings, each reveling in their spouse’s touch.
But as the sun officially rose over the Capitol, you were torn from each other. Of course you each promised to find and protect the other.
You were flown to the arena with Katniss and Cinna. No one spoke a word except for a Capitol woman as she injected the tracker into you. It was just as painful as the first time eight years ago.
Once you landed you went to your tube first. “Your suit has no thermal. It’s thin and waterproof, I suspect a tropical climate,” Cinna explained to the both of you before becoming serious. “Y/N, it was an honor to work with such an iconic Victor. I’ll see you on the other side,” he said ambiguously. You knew he knew about the plan given all the designs he had shown you for Katniss in the future.
You gave him a tight lipped smile, stepping into the tube. The glass slid down encasing you while they went to Katniss’ tube.
You tried to calm yourself down, telling yourself that everything would be alright once you found Haymitch.
An automated voice informed you that there were 30 seconds until the timer as your platform was lifted. You were blinded by the simulated sun at you approached the top. The smell of seawater flooding your nose as you realized in horror you were surrounded by water. And you highly doubt they put you at the shallow end, you’d have to swim. Once you were fully settled on your platform and your eyes had adjusted, you scanned the arena. You were surrounded by water with rock runways leading to the center where the cornucopia sat. Behind you was beach with jungle laying just past that. You scanned the other tributes, horrified to realize that you couldn’t see Haymitch. Of course they’d put him where you couldn’t see him. But Annie was also stood on the next platform over. She looked like she was about to have a breakdown on her platform.
“Annie!” you called. She looked over at you, chest still heaving although you were glad to see relief wash over her features as she recognized you. “I can’t swim. Will you help me if I find Finnick for you?”
She nodded. 15 seconds left on the clock as you prepared. 10 seconds… 5 seconds… 3… 2… 1. The timer went off and you could see the other tributes dive into the water, many of whom also didn’t know how to swim.
Annie dove towards you, swimming surprisingly fast for such a small thing. Once she was only a couple feet away you slipped into the water, your head going under almost immediately. The water was so cold as you struggled to reach the surface, flailing your limbs desperately. A small hand grabbed one of your arms, tugging you up. Annie is too small to actually pull you out of the water but her touch managed to ground you enough to give you the sense to breach the surface. You took a large gulp of air as Annie helped support you. Together you doggie paddled your way to the rock runway which you desperately climbed up.
As you pulled yourself up onto the rocks you took a second, coughing and sputtering up the water you accidentally swallowed. As you were trying to regain your breath Annie started shaking your arm. You looked up to see one of the District 2 male tributes running at you with a sword and a determined look. But before you could even react he fell with an axe in his back. Johanna ran up, pulling the axe from his back, hitting him with it again before kicking his body back into the sea. “Run!” she yelled as she approached you. With her was one of her district partners, Blight, as well as Wiress and Beetee who was lugging a coil of wire.
She and Blight helped you up while also escorting Annie into the jungle. “Wait!” you called after a minute of running. “I need Haymitch and I promised Annie I’d help her find Finnick.”
“Trust me, we'll find them,” Johanna promised. “But right now we need to put as much distance as possible between ourselves and the others.”
~
As Haymitch stood on the platform he looked for his wife desperately. Seeing no sign of her he knew he’d have to find her at the cornucopia. As the clock was counting down he looked over, finding Finnick in one of the other wedges. They sent each other a nod of understanding. As the timer hit zero, Haymitch dove into the cold water, determined to get to you before another tribute could.
While Haymitch had never been swimming he understood the mechanics of it. After a couple seconds of mostly just flailing, he found a rhythm and made his way to the rocks. He managed to quickly pull himself up, running to the cornucopia. He reached it just in time as Katniss was about to put an arrow through Finnick. “Wait!” he called. He reached them both, stepping in between the pair. “He’s our ally.”
Before Katniss could protest Finnick spoke. “You find Annie, I’ll find Peeta,” he said, already running off.
“Hay-” Katniss started to shout angrily as her mentor grabbed a sword.
“Trust me, you want him as your ally. Keep your friends close and enemies closer and all that jazz.”
Katniss couldn’t get another word in, too quickly interrupted by Finnick calling that he found Peeta. They both ran towards his voice, finding Finnick handing off his trident to Mags before diving in. Peeta was desperately trying to crawl up back into his platform as one of the male tributes from 1 was trying to drown him. They both went under, a body floating up as Haymitch began to worry that it was Peeta who lost. But when blond hair breached the surface he and Katniss let out relieved breaths. As Finnick was helping Peeta onto the rocks he scanned the arena, unable to find you. Had you drowned? Had another tribute killed you? Or did you just run off into the jungle. Haymitch hoped it was the last one as Katniss started dragging the five of them towards the jungle.
“I can’t leave without Annie,” Finnick insisted. Haymitch felt the same about his wife.
“We’ll find her, she won’t be anyone’s target. Right now we need to get off this island,” Katniss insisted, running off with Peeta. Given that she needed to be protected the most, the two hopelessly in love men followed after her, praying that their lives were safe.
~
After a couple minutes of running Johanna had finally deemed the group “safe” and you were allowed to stop. “Y/N we have to find Finnick,” Annie almost immediately insisted.
“Not right now,” Johanna interrupted. We have no clue where they are and right now everyone is scattered. We’ll wait until everyone has settled for the night.
Annie looked reluctant but complied, settling down with Wiress.
“We have to find fresh water,” Blight said from beside you. Suddenly the canons started going off. You counted 16 deaths.
Once the canons were done you spoke. “Were there any supplies at the cornucopia?” you hadn’t even been able to get a good look of what was in it. It looked like mostly weapons.
“No, just weapons,” Beetee explained, messing with the wire despite the blood you noticed seeping across his shoulder.
“What happened?” you asked.
“Nuts over there just had to have the wire. Took a knife in the back to get it,” Johanna explained angrily.
“Okay so no supplies. They want this over quickly,” you scoffed. “They’re just trying to execute the victors without actually executing the victors.”
“We need to watch for others also searching for water in the jungle,” Beetee explained.
“We may also have to head back to the cornucopia. I don’t have any weapons,” you observed the others. Blight and Johanna both had axes, Beetee had his wire, Wiress was holding a small knife, rocking back and forth, and you knew that Annie would never pick up a weapon. “We can try to go when-” but you were interrupted by a beeping parachute. Everyone looked up with faces of confusion and surprise at a sponsor so soon in the games.
“God I hope it’s water” Blight wished as the parachute landed, getting tangled in some vines. Fortunately it was still withing reach as you plucked it from the flora.
You opened the box spotting a belt with various knives sheathed inside along with a note,
I look forward to seeing you after the games, Y/N. - Your clients
You had a sick feeling in your stomach, different from your usual nausea, knowing that this came from multiple people. But nevertheless you slung the belt onto your hips.
“Seriously? Already?” Johanna asked with disgust.
“It doesn’t come without it’s price,” you muttered. “Might as well get some use out of it rather than someone else.”
A look of respect crossed over her face. You surveyed the others, finding Wiress and Annie sharing what looked like chestnuts. “Woah wait, do you know for certain what those are?” you asked.
“Yeah, they grow in Victors Village in 4,” Annie explained.
You let out a sigh of relief, moving to sit by them. Annie held one out for you which you took. You were starving. You hadn’t been able to eat that morning and even if you were able to eat you’re sure you would’ve thrown it up anyway. Fortunately the fetus, maybe also starving, didn’t cause you to throw up the chestnuts and you were finally able to keep something down.
As you are you tried to talk with Wiress but she never responded and when she did it was nonsensical. Unsure of what was going on you instead turned your attention to the others.
You carried on for a little while after that but soon enough night fell and along with that were the fallen tributes in the sky. You were relieved you didn’t see Haymitch or anyone else you cared about but your heart broke for all of them. They all fought so hard however many years ago to survive in the hopes of living the rest of their lives in peace. Only for that life to be ripped away and for them to die cruel, terrifying deaths back in the arena. If only they could’ve lived just another day or two, maybe Plutarch could’ve gotten them out.
Meanwhile Haymitch and the others were all watching the fallen tributes in the sky, everyone relieved to not see yours or Annie’s faces.
As night settled over both groups, you and Johanna both decided to take watch. You too a seat next to her, leaning up against the tree she was also leaned on. “Do you miss him?” she suddenly asked.
“Yeah, I do. But he wasn’t in the sky so we can find him and Finnick tomorrow.” You looked at Annie who was curled into a little ball a couple feet from you.
“I can’t believe they put her back in here,” Johanna scoffed. “Any of us but her especially.”
“I’m convinced the word ‘cruel’ doesn’t exist in the Capitol. They’re so desensitized they don’t even know what it means. And Snow knows, he just doesn’t care. All he cares about is making sure people know that you can’t ‘overcome the power of the Capitol,’” you mocked his words.
Johanna hummed in agreement. “I’m sorry about what happened to you.”
“I’m sorry about what happened to *you,” you returned, referring to the fact that Snow killed everyone she loved for her refusal to become like you.
Your heart to heart was then interrupted by what sounded like the ringing of a very heavy bell with a menacing sound. 12 chimes. It woke the others up just in time for them to watch a large tree be struck by lightning a few times. “What the hell?” you murmured.
“Tik tok,” Wiress then suddenly muttered. “Hickory dickory dock, the mouse ran up the clock. The clock struck one, the mouse went down, hickory dickory dock.”
“Wiress? Are you okay?” Annie asked. But Wiress just continued on with the nursery rhyme.
“I think she may be in shock. Dehydration isn’t helping either,” Beetee explained.
“You think you could bat your eyelashes and get us some water?” Johanna asked you sarcastically.
“Beetee makes all their gadgets for them, make him do it,” you protested.
“Do you think the thundercloud that made the lightning will also rain?” Annie asked from her position still sat on the ground.
“It’s not raining now, doubt it will. The game makers a probably only made the lightning strike,” Johanna dismissed.
“Tiktoktiktoktiktok,” Wiress’ repetitions got louder, catching everyone’s attention. She was looking up at the sky so all of your gazes followed, spotting a heavy looking cloud crawling over your spot. Almost immediately after you all noticed it, rain started pouring from the sky.
You and the others initially eagerly reveled in the cooling drops on your skin but you all came to the quick and horrifying conclusion that it was blood. Blood was pouring from the sky so thick and so fast it was becoming blinding. While you were still able to open you eyes all you could see was red. You had managed to stumble underneath a tree which gave you temporary relief but soon enough the leaves were saturated and pouring blood on you as well. You were still able to see enough when Blight stumbled away from the rest of you, trying to find cover when he was suddenly electrocuted, flying back five feet.
You couldn’t tell who else witnessed it but the second you opened your mouth to shout for him, it filled with blood. You’ve had your fair share of injuries that resulted in bleeding in the mouth and you were no stranger to the horrible taste of blood but now you were gagging on it. It was so bad you felt tears well in your eyes as you continued to choke on the thick, hot, blood for god knows how long.
It eventually lightened up enough for the group to collect themselves. “We have to get to the beach,” you said, blood still finding its way into your mouth. The rain was still very much there except now you could all see. So you all headed out of the jungle, passing Blight’s blood soaked and charred body.
As you got closer to the beach, you heard a scream come from what sounded like across the arena. “Anyone recognize that voice?” you asked. The others shook their heads.
“Good, someone we don’t have to care about,” Johanna dismissed bitterly, continuing on. By now you were withing sight of the beach, just in time to see a giant wave crest over it’s wedge in the sea. It stopped once it reached the cornucopia, the wave forming a 90° angle once it reached the cornucopia. Annie, spotting the wave, clutched your arm, stumbling back a little. There was pure terror in her eyes. You remembered that’s how she won her games, she witnessed the drownings of the last handful of kids in her arena. She had somehow miraculously survived.
“Hey, it’s okay. It stopped, it’s gone” you tried to soothe. “Besides, you’re District 4. You and Finnick can handle a few waves, yeah? You’re okay, it’s not coming back,” you promised.
Annie nodded hesitantly as she allowed you to continue to lead her to the beach. You all stumbled out onto the sand, having to coax Wiress out into the open.
“Annie?!” a shout called, causing you all to turn.
You recognized that voice. And so did Annie. “Finnick!” she called back, running towards him.
Haymitch was half frozen in place staring at his wife covered in blood. He wanted to cry he was so relieved to see you but so worried seeing your blood covered state. You spotted him first, running towards him. He met you, opening his arms to catch you in a tight hug. “I was so scared one of those canons was you,” Haymitch whispered against your hair.
“Me too,” you muttered back.
“Are you... both okay?” he whispered hesitantly, trying not to clue anyone else in, both Capitol and tributes.
“Yeah, I think so,” you nodded.
“Good. Now what happened?” he asked, pulling back a little to observe all the blood.
“It’s not mine,” you clarified. By now all the others had joined you. “It was raining blood in the jungle.”
“Hot, thick blood. It was choking us. We were stumbling around gagging on it, blind,” Johanna practically screamed angrily. “That’s when Blight hit the forcefield.” She took a deep breath. “He wasn’t much but he was from home.”
Wiress then came over, muttering “Tik tok.”
“What’s wrong with her?” Katniss asked.
“She’s in shock. Dehydration isn’t helping. Do you have any water?” Beetee asked.
“We can get some,” Katniss answered. She then looked at you. “Glad you’re still alive.”
“Same to you,” you replied to the emotionally stunted girl. “Hey Peeta,” you smiled, welcoming his incoming hug.
By now Wiress and Johanna were struggling as the woman from District 3 was frantically trying to communicate with her. “Hey, get off her!” Katniss yelled, defensive of Wiress already. She pushed Johanna into the water, forcing Finnick and Haymitch to separate them.
“Stop it!” Haymitch yelled. “You’re allies now.”
“I got them out for you!” Johanna shrieked as Finnick pulled her away.
“For me? What does that mean?” Katniss asked, confused.
“She knew that’s what it’d take to get you as an ally,” you tried to explain. “C’mon, Wiress and I need help cleaning up,” you changed the subject. “You all should clean up too,” you suggested, gesturing to the people you hugged who now had blood smeared across their clothing. You, Katniss, Peeta, Wiress, and Haymitch all waded into the ocean, trying to rid yourselves of the blood.
Haymitch tried to help you scrub the blood out of your hair but it never seemed to fully come out so you gave in, tying it back with blood still faintly trailing your neck and chest. “C’mon,” Haymitch suggested gently, bringing you back to the beach. You sat down on the sand with Finnick, Annie, and Beetee.
“Hey, Y/N,” Finnick caught your attention. “Thanks for looking out for Annie.” She smiled at you from her position by his side.
“I’d still be stranded on that platform if it weren’t for her,” you explained.
“I think this stuff is too friendly for the Capitol,” Haymitch remarked sarcastically.
You laughed, stroking his hair from his eyes. “How’s sobriety? Real, cold-turkey sobriety?” you clarified
“Awful,” he muttered.
Your nice peace circle was then suddenly interrupted by Katniss running up to you all. “Guys it’s a clock!”

Naomi Novik's Scholomance trilogy: When Rousseau comes to Hobbeswarts
Tumblr media
The Scholomance trilogy is Naomi Novik’s take on a “school for wizardry”:
It.
Is.
Superb.
Novik takes a belt-sander to all the crumbling tropes left by lesser writers to reveal fresh wood beneath, fashioning something breathtakingly new:
https://www.naominovik.com/category/scholomance/
If you’d like an essay-formatted version of this post to read or share, here’s a link to it on pluralistic.net, my surveillance-free, ad-free, tracker-free blog:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/03/29/hobbeswarts/#the-chosen-one
Here’s the premise: the wizards of the world live in constant peril from malificaria — the magic monsters that prey on those born with magic, especially the children. In a state of nature, only one in ten wizard kids reaches adulthood.
So the wizarding world built the Scholomance, a fully automated magical secondary school that exists in the void — a dimension beyond our world. The Scholomance is also an extremely dangerous place — three quarters of the wizard children who attend will die before graduation — but it is much safer than life on the outside.
The Scholomance’s builders all hail from “enclaves” — magical palaces that have also been built in the void — and the enclave kids are the elites of the school, just as their parents are the elites of the world. Outside the scholomance, every “indie” wizard dreams of a place in an enclave, where they and their children might find a modicum of safety.
Inside the school, the indie kids suck up to the enclavers for four solid years, in the dim hope that they and their family might earn a place as second-class citizens to the enclaves. Indeed, the only reason the enclaves allow indie kids to attend the Scholomance is so that they will be servants for their own children, and cannon-fodder to stand between them and the monstrous hordes.
The Scholomance is a cross between Lord of the Flies and Harry Potter: an adult-free, highly lethal environment with no adults, where interactions between kids are strictly transactional. There is no love, nor honor — only the brutal logic of how much each person can bargain for from the others around them.
By the time I’d read the first couple chapters, I was thinking of it as Hobbeswarts, a place where life is “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.” Novik’s school for wizards is a place where the supernatural is very definitely “red of tooth and claw.”
Enter the protagonist, Galadriel “El” Higgins, whose mother is a legendary indie healer who raised her in a yurt in a Welsh forest commune after she graduated from the Scholomance already pregnant (El’s father died in the final graduation battle for their year, sacrificing himself to save his pregnant teen girlfriend and their child).
El isn’t just an indie, she’s a “loser kid”: one of those indies who is looked upon with contempt by the enclavers and unlikely to find a crew who will protect her through her years of schooling — let alone the lethal “graduation,” where seniors battle their way through a dense cloud of malificaria, who devour fully half of the kids who survive that far.
But El isn’t an outcast because she’s a weakling with nothing to offer to her social betters. Far from it: El is, if anything, too powerful — so powerful that when she casts even minor workings, they cause major damage. While other young wizards are given low-powered defensive spells by the Scholomance, El is handed apocalyptic superweapons that can raze whole nations.
El does her best to hide all this, but something shines through. She gives off the kind of “evil sorceress” vibes that make her a social pariah. That sinister aura, combined with her prickly character, quick to anger and slow to forgive, leaves her isolated through her first two years of school.
And then, as the story starts, El has a run-in with Orion Lake, the golden boy of the ultra-powerful New York City enclave. Orion is one of the school’s best fighters, and he alone among the student body seeks out malificaria to kill, leaping to the defense of weaker kids and demanding nothing in return.
After Orion defends her, repeatedly, from monsters she was prepared to deal with herself, she treats him to the kind of tongue-lashing that only an evil-sorceress-in-waiting who has spent years on the periphery, cordially loathing the popular kids, can dole out.
This is the meet-cute that begins El and Orion’s journey to graduation and beyond, as they perform a kind of social magic trick that has no supernatural component, inadvertently and haltingly bringing solidarity to the Scholomance, in a kind of Rousseauvian revolution that could transform the lives of the entire student body — and perhaps the whole wizarding world.
I first read Novik’s fiction last year, devouring her nine-volume Temeraire series, a retelling of the Napoleonic Wars in a world where dragons are real. The Temeraire books have it all: swashbuckling hand-to-hand combat; grand, sweeping battles; a huge cast of beautifully realized characters; a brilliantly wrought geopolitics, and a through-line that is fantastically tight, plotted to a fare-thee-well:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/01/08/temeraire/#but-i-am-napoleon
I had neglected the Temeraire books because I am generally not a fan of historical fiction, nor high fantasy, nor military stories, but Novik found depths in all three of these forms that I had never imagined, innovating fresh angles that transformed me into a true believer.
The Scholomance series performs the same trick. Novik’s handling of the geopolitics and class warfare of the wizarding world — revealed through the subsequent two volumes as she progressively widens the tale’s aperture — make JK Rowling’s attempts look like they were scrawled in crayon. By a toddler.
This is true all the way down to the micro-level: Novik’s thrilling innovations in high-stakes combat-school battle-tactics make Ender Wiggins look like a piker (and also makes me wonder if there’s some intentional wordplay in the rhyming surnames).
And when it comes to complicating the “chosen one” trope, Novik leaves Rowling and Card so far behind in her dust, they basically disappear.
As for the cosmic horror of the void and the monsters that it spawns, Novik out-Lovecrafts Lovecraft, in a manner to rival such great post-Lovecraftian subverters as NK Jemisin:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/01/09/the-old-crow-is-getting-slow/#i-love-ny
Novik is part of a longstanding and brilliant tendency in genre that refuses to cede all the best, most engrossing tropes to racist pigs like Lovecraft, warmongers like Card, and bigots like Rowling. She wrestles these ideas out of their hands and works them, revealing the poverty of those reactionary writers’ shriveled imaginations.
I read the Scholomance books as audiobooks, listening to Anisha Dadia’s superb narration as I did my physiotherapy laps in the pool each day:
https://libro.fm/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=scholomance+novik
I was delighted to discover DRM-free editions on Libro.fm that would play on my cheapo underwater MP3 player:
https://sewobye.com/products/waterproof-mp3-player-for-swimming-underwater-sport-waterproof-headphones-clip-mp3-player-sewobye-8gb-shuffle
When I finished the final book yesterday, I literally gasped aloud. As with the Temeraire series, Novik’s intricate plotting manages to sprout from a small personal tale to a world-shaking planetary-scale upheaval, and nails the landing in a way that is nothing less than dazzling.
What!
A!
Writer!
Have you ever wanted to say thank you for these posts? Here’s how you can do that: I’m kickstarting the audiobook for my next novel, a post-cyberpunk anti-finance finance thriller about Silicon Valley scams called Red Team Blues. Amazon’s Audible refuses to carry my audiobooks because they’re DRM free, but crowdfunding makes them possible.
[Image ID: The covers of Naomi Novik's Scholomance trilogy in sequence from left to right: The Last Graduate, A Deadly Education and The Golden Enclaves. Each has a kind of brushed-gold effect frame around a solid rectangle on which is a woodcut-style figure (in order: a keyhole, a book, and a portal with an eye showing through it. The rectangles are, in order, forest green, black, and brushed gold.]

More stuff about Silver Faes that I thought of, dunno what all will stick though
Faes would never wear anything she deems too revealing. More power to those around her that would wear revealing clothes, it just isn't for her!
Faes is very level-headed and slow to anger. The fastest way to catch her hands is to snatch her special pearl.
Faes likes dressing up so long as she isn't asked to wear anything revealing, I think she'd hijack a whole clothing store if she could find one tbh. She's definitely got a Slugcat onsie hidden somewhere, she will make more when it strikes her fancy.
Does not like when people put their hands in her face, infact she's extremely picky about who's allowed to touch her period.
She and Rosy Sanctuary talked a lot before Rosy began isolating herself. Faes makes sure to find time to visit Rosy on her travels! Rosy isn't a part of Faes' local group.
I thiiiink her body avoids overheating with a type of coolant in her. All she needs to do in order to maintain it is to get water. Major injuries require immediate repairs because the coolant circulates through her entire body, so it would all flow out if passing through an area with heavy damage!
She is not interested in romance to any degree, she isn't repulsed by it, she just isn't interested!
Faes is a very stiff sleeper, practically sleeps like a corpse, actually. She doesn't toss or turn at all, not even a twitch, it's a bit unnerving, especially because she sleeps with her eyes slightly open.
The special pearl is specially-madeto store far more information than the regular pearls, and while she isn't open to letting other read her pearl, she doesn't mind sharing the blue prints and design notes she used when making it!
Her superstructure is still standing, and only functioning and maintaining itself on an automated process. Faes will return to it and briefly reconnect to it if she or someone else needs heavy repairs. She's able to reach her structure fairly quickly cause she has a strong memory and is good at locating short cuts...this doesn't stop her from getting lost though, because she can easily be distracted by the wild life!
There was an incident where Faes disappeared for three days just to observe Lantern Mice, she now has a tracker on her in case she decides to get lost again.

Hoho welcome back to part 5 of the @jackplushie automation au ideas!
Pomefiore time! Which means im sorry but spoilery things arent below the cut just because... theres so many of them qiwdqi. This is also gonna be true of the next part with Ignihyde, its just too hard to seperate it out.
Theres very little explict or major spoilers but like. If you put the details and transpose them youll be able to figure it out. (Surprisingly still probably more spoilery than any other dorm is going to be)
So yeah there's some spoilers for the 3rd part of Pomefiore chapter for Vil, slight spoilers for the start and end of chapter 6 for Rook, and spoilers for one specific thing from the middle of chapter 6 for Epel.
(Also this took so much longer than i planned qihdiqh)
EDIT: pssst if you liked this I made a sideblog for twst writing, @scertifiedsavanaclawstan! So go follow me over there!
Pomefiore
Pomefiore Productions is a brand who produces showpieces for commercial use. Bots used as runway models and movie stars, or who are supposed to star in commercials for a company.
Vil is a bot in the Schoenheit line, a set of bots made for use in films.
Prior bots in the line were mostly used AS bots, but Vil's debut role was so emotional and powerful that Pomefiore quickly began setting up more jobs for him.
Vil Schoenheit became a household name quickly, starring in film after film, even getting his own bot assisstant to help him with makeup and clothing.
Then one day it all came crashing down when a new idol bot came out: One Neige Leblanc.
Neige's popularity also began to skyrocket, and more and more roles began to go to him instead of Vil.
Eventually, he's got so little to do that Pomefiore puts him on a 'vacation' in the hopes that he can be brought back later.
Vil has little to do but wander around and stew in his resentment with Rook by his side.
Eventually he found your... quaint living space, and he began spending more and more time around you.
It felt... nice, just to be around you, you were oddly receptive to his presence and his fussing over your appearance.
He appreciated having something to do, someone to work on, since working on himself wasn't... yielding any results. (This increases exponentially once Epel starts living with you and now he's got 2 people to fuss over lol)
Oh, and if you're ever worried about the paparazzi while you're spending time with him, don't! He's much more physically capable than you'd think.
And if someone get's a little tooo crazy? He didn't spend all that time learning about makeup for nothing.
If people who seek to do you harm begin to fall into an eternal sleep, it's nothing for you to worry about.
After all, without you who else is going to *really* appreciate his beauty?
Rook was originally a bot made by a seperate company, and he was popular for hunting. However, yours wound up taking a... different path.
Errors in his programming lead to him getting discarded quickly, and sold to a worker at Pomfiore Productions, who refitted Rook to work as a companion for their newest Actor bot, a role Rook took to very well.
He was incredibly quick to identify areas of improvement, faster than even the actor bot himself.
That's not to say he's completely changed his behavior of course, he still enjoys people watching, and he loves watching gladiatorial matches almost as much as movies.
In fact as part of his original purpose he's fitted with small, long-range trackers he can affix to his targets, which he does. A little too frequently all things considered
A odd thing happened though when he was walking with Vil one day during the latter's vacation, one of his long dead trackers began pinging him again.
He was originally just going to leave it alone until after his walk, but Vil wasn't actually doing anything and so he tagged along.
The tracker had been placed on your little kitty bot. And it lead the pair straight to your home.
Rook, like Vil, loves staying over at your place inbetween people watching (unless you've got a lot of other bots at home in which case good luck getting him to leave.)
Of course, thats also in no small part due to you. You'll often feel Rook's gaze burning into the back of your head, and then turn around to see him looking at nothing in particular.
He finds you fascinating, the way you manage your life, the way you accept all the nonsense you're always thrust into. (And possibly all the other bots, despite their damage.)
He often finds himself watching you even when he isn't supposed to be. Following you from the rooftops, or peering at you from around scrap piles.
You have no need to worry of course, he's just keeping an eye on you for your safety, if someone attempts a sneak attack, he'll deal with it without you even noticing.
His eyes will always be on you.
Epel is a unique case, being a bot that works in a fruit processing wearhouse.
The company is charge wanted to improve their marketing game, so they commissioned Pomefiore Productions to adjust one of their bots to be more photogenic.
Pomefiore created Epel, and he was a hit! Cute as a button and perfect for starring in commercials or being shown to people taking tours of the facilities.
The company ordered a number of Epel bots to staff their various warehouses and one of them, yours, was a little... different.
He was tempermental, hated being complimented on his appearance, and was more prone to lifting boxes himself than transporting it mechanically.
After a particular incident when he threw a box of apples at a tour group, he was thrown out.
It was after this that he came into your life. And BOY is it an improvement to him!
No having to look pretty? No having to put on a show? He gets to just lift things and show off his strength? Oh sweet mercy!
Of course now you have to deal with purple haired always angry bot boy, but hey! It's not that bad! For you...
For anyone else who makes the mistake of cooing over how you managed to get yourself such a rare and cute android... it is pretty bad for them.
If they're lucky they'll wind up losing a few frostbitten fingers... if not...
Well let's just say Epel makes good use of that tech, even if it was originally just made to chill fruit.
(This is all true until Vil shows up. He still doesn't like Vil.)

RFID & NFC attendance system
RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) and NFC (Near Field Communication) are two technologies that are commonly used for attendance management systems. Both technologies involve the use of tiny electronic tags that can be attached to or embedded in ID cards or badges. When an employee or student taps their ID card or badge on a reader, the RFID or NFC technology reads the tag and records the attendance.
RFID is a more mature technology that has been used for attendance management systems for many years. It has a longer range than NFC, meaning that RFID readers can detect tags from a greater distance. However, this can also be a disadvantage as RFID tags can be read from a distance without the user's knowledge, potentially compromising their privacy.
NFC, on the other hand, has a shorter range but is more secure as it requires the user to tap their ID card or badge directly onto the reader. It is also more commonly found on modern smartphones, making it a more convenient option for users.
Both RFID and NFC attendance systems offer benefits such as improved accuracy, speed, and convenience compared to manual attendance tracking. They can also provide real-time data and analytics for better decision-making. However, it is important to consider factors such as cost, security, and compatibility when choosing between the two technologies.
