what are your honest thoughts on King Beast

oh god. listen, beauty and the beast is my favourite disney movie so i have mixed feelings (also if i refer to him as adam, i'm talking about king beast, yk). it brings me joy every time i see him on the screen because of this, but the formation of the isle was, in the simplest of terms, not it. i can never understand why you would bring a bunch of villains back from the DEAD to imprison them let alone imprison the alive ones in the way that the isle operates? there had to be a better way.

i like to rationalize the formation of the isle (as much as i can bc the formation of the isle is simply whack) by imagining that villain related crime had been seriously escalating when he was made king and there was one final event that basically triggered him, maybe something that endangered ben's safety when he was an infant. i tend to think of something like an attempted kidnapping, something that endangered his family's safety. in my mind, the widescale villain panic across the nation at the time essentially contributed to the decision that the isle would be formed, but without that panic i like to think that it never would have happened.

i do, however, enjoy seeing his character development throughout the movies. i don't think he can ever redeem himself for creating the isle, but i do think he shows potential in his interactions with mal and his acceptance of her relationship with ben. i do ultimately think he did what he did for the safety of his family; i think the curse put upon him really messed with his head, that he never truly dealt with it after he became human again, and all of that trauma reared its ugly head and led to the formation of the isle.

tldr; i love beast as a character and he shows potential for growth and change, but the formation of the isle was absolutely wrong and i don't think he can ever redeem himself completely.

AHH great question!!!! I've actually hinted at this before in my OC fic Turn Back Time but essentially my headcanon is:

The Victoria Punk looked like a normal ship on her maiden voyage - not large, not as intimidating, maybe had their main jolly roger and their figurehead to make them stand apart from other ships sailing on the seas. Do you know that skull that sits on the ship? The not dinosaur one, this one?

I think that was the original ship figurehead. It was this skull with the teeth like railing back when the ship was less impressive as we've seen it now. We also know that Kid and Killer love being challenged, they refer to their enemies as their 'prey' or that 'its always fun hunting big game.'

I'm willing to bet that they came across an island with dinosaurs and after the initial shock/excitement wore off, Kid had a big brain moment. Kill the biggest bastard and stick his head on the prow. so they did.

After they took down their prize, Killer was like, 'hmm we're gonna need a bigger boat.' They either sailed to and from the island to get the supplies and tools they needed or used whatever resources were avialable, et cetera et cetera, by the time they got to Sabaody they had remodeled their ship to be the way it was when we first meet them. Nostalgic and unable to just throw away the original figurehead, the crew designed it to sit opposite of the new prow.

JFO Headcanon: when Cal first arrives on the Mantis and Cere tells him to go because he's safe (for now), he doesn't mean to fall into the first bed he finds and sleep, but he's running on empty. He's hollowed out, exhausted, and he can't get warm.

He hasn't used the Force like this in years, hasn't had to run and fight for his life in years, hasn't lost someone he cared about in years, and it's all so much he can't stay on his feet for a moment longer. He finds the bunk at the back of the ship and sits, thinking he'll just take a minute, get his bearings.

Get his emotions under control.

(Can't think about Prauf. Mustn't think about him. Not here, not now.)

He can't let his guard down just because these two saved him from that Inquisitor. Except the adrenaline is fading.

Pain stirs. There isn't an inch of him that hasn't taken a beating in the past hour.

Exhaustion crashes over him in heavy, suffocating waves.

(Prauf is gone.)

Cal's asleep before he can stop himself.

Cere finds him like that. She'd intended to offer him something to eat and drink while cautiously checking him for injuries. Instead, she finds someone who, under all the dirt and blood, is a lot younger than she originally thought.

What is she leading him into?

She leaves him to rest. It's a long trip to Bogano, and this is what he needs.

It's Greez who goes back a while later, intending on getting something nutritious into the kid. He's halfway there when he hears the kid talking. Talking to who? If he'd brought a comm aboard, Cere would've noticed. She's monitoring all communications to make sure the Empire isn't onto them.

He realises the kid's talking in his sleep. He can't make out much, but it doesn't take a Jedi to realise that what Greez does understand is nothing good.

Maybe he'd better wake him up before he does some weird Jedi stuff and tears a hole in the hull...

I don't do requests because I can't think on my feet like that. I've got a small amount of time and mental energy to devote to writing so doing lots of little requests chips away at that. I write for myself and I'm so happy you are hanging out with me and enjoying my stuff too.

Also NSFW-wise, I have specific things that I like and specific things that make me uncomfy. Rather just not do it at all. I keep all my NSFW stuff on AO3 because there's buttons you need to press to agree to view content.

i love lonnie! i think she's adorable. i really wish they'd cast an actress that is actually chinese considering that mulan is, you know... centered around saving china... but what can you expect from disney. i don't really read fanfic because i prefer descendants roleplay (i like that there's an air of surprise about it in not knowing what another writer's character will do next that is more exciting for me personally) but i love hearing fanfic ideas and sharing headcanons centered around them and everything. that idea is awesome and i think you should totally write it! i'm sure plenty of other people would read it as well <3
