"Now explain what he is doing here." Splinter doesn't sound very happy.
"We were telling April about our history when the Foot showed up." That's Donatello's voice. "And, well, then he showed up and started fighting them with us."
"He helped us, sensei," Leonardo says. "Then the Shredder arrived and we ran while we had the chance."
"What? Are you certain you were not followed?"
"Yes. Nobody knows where we are. We kept checking."
Splinter sighs with relief. "I see." His garment rustles slightly on the floor. "What is your name?"
"Casey Jones."
There's a brief moment of silence, as if Splinter is sizing Casey Jones up.
"Thank you for helping my sons. But now I fear you've been caught up in something dangerous - as have you, April."
"Guess that means she's not going home either, huh?" Casey's voice sounds both sad and accusatory. There's no need to ask who she is.
"It's too dangerous," Leo says. "The Foot probably knows where April lives; it's better if Taylor stays with us."
"Yeah, and does she have a say in that? We're here voluntarily; she isn't."
It's probably time to wake up now. Taylor stirs and blinks her eyes open; she sits up, wincing as her stomach twinges.
"Taylor!" April's hurrying towards her. She throws her arms around Taylor's shoulders and hugs her tightly. Taylor hugs back, gripping April's jacket. "Are you OK?"
Taylor doesn't know how to answer her.
"I am so, so sorry you got involved in this. I should have just gone and met them like they asked."
As the hug ends, Taylor says: "I still can't believe you're not crazy."
April laughs ruefully. "I don't blame you for thinking I was. I mean, looking back, I probably shouldn't have told my boss..."
"Shhh!" Taylor glances wildly towards the turtles, but they're not listening to the conversation. Raphael is there, and he's having a glare-off with Casey. Taylor's stomach swoops unpleasantly; she swallows and looks away again.
"But she didn't believe you, right?" she whispers.
April grimaces. "She fired me."
"Oh. I'm sorry."
Suddenly she frowns. Why is she lying on blankets again? She fell asleep in that chair, she knows she did.
"...that you're not human is the only reason I'm not arresting you," Casey growls at the hulking behemoth.
hahaha jokes on you all i drew all four of them for warmups
funky little crossovers for my own entertainment
but thank you all for participating in the poll, i can tell you thrawn folks live here now
i like daeron targaryen because alicent and viserys somehow managing to have a single bubbly and well adjusted child is hilarious AND said 14 year old is a starting player for the greens because he’s just so devoted to his family that he is proficient in whatever they need him to do. but like if they were normal people whose family business was a restaurant or something he would just be the best burger flipper in the 7 kingdoms. but unfortunately since the family business is usurpation and war crimes so he had to become a different kind of teenage fry cook…
Before I played: Man I don't think I'm mean enough to romance Astarion.
After playing, romancing Astarion, and getting further context on his endings, esp. the epilogues: I literally am not mean enough to let this man ascend, I will protect this sad pile of pixels with my last breath, cute bat though.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10
Taylor's ribs and stomach barely twinge as she scurries about the coffee shop. It's always busy, and she gets back into the swing of things quickly. She doesn't get even one order wrong.
Sarah's clearly had words with the others - Taylor catches some of them giving her quick, pitying glances, but none of them say anything to her about the 'mugging' and she's grateful for that.
And yet...she doesn't feel like she's gone back to normal. She remembers Casey's words about that ship having sailed, and realises what he means. Something feels off, and no happy, smiley face she can put on can change that.
Just before she goes home, Sarah asks her to stay behind for a chat.
"How are you holding up?"
"Fine," Taylor replies.
Sarah doesn't say anything; she just raises her eyebrow.
"All right, I'm...I don't know. I'm sleeping a bit better now, and it doesn't hurt anymore." She wants to move on, so why can't she do it?
"Ever heard of the saying 'Living well is the best revenge'?"
Taylor shakes her head.
"You might want to look it up."
xxxxxxx
Apparently, the quote means just getting on with your life and not trying to get back at the person who hurt you. It's nothing Taylor couldn't have worked out for herself.
An email from her mom pops up on the screen with the words Thought you might find this interesting! It's a list of job adverts, all of which pay more than Taylor's current salary. They're all in New York - but most of them are in different boroughs. If she applies for them and they want her, she'll probably have to move after all.
The thought makes her feel both relieved and guilty. Why does it feel as if she's trying to run away?
"Hey." It's April. "I'm going over to have a look at the new lair. Want to come?"
Taylor doesn't say anything for a few seconds. Then: "Yeah. I would."
xxxxxxx
It's already dark outside. Taylor and April walk side by side down the streets; April's agreed to meet Donatello somewhere and he'll escort them through the sewers to where the lair is. It's amazing that they're actually letting them know where to find it.
Apparently, Michelangelo's got a fresh supply of Orange Crush in the fridge.
Taylor doesn't know how long the visit's going to be, but it should be all right. It'll be interesting, seeing the turtles' lair and what they've done with it so far and...
Oh.
She stops walking, right in the middle of a pool of lamp light.
"Taylor? Are you OK?" April asks.
"Yeah, I just thought I heard my phone." She starts walking, her stomach churning with nausea and adrenaline.
They're all going to be there. She didn't think of that.
Another fear hits her as they walk. What if her mom finds out about the 'mugging'? She has popped into work to surprise her before - what if Sarah or somebody else says something?
She tries to keep her breathing calm as they get closer and closer to their destination.
"Hey." That's Donatello's voice. "Glad you could make it!" There's a familiar scraping sound of a manhole cover, and Taylor swallows.
i found it a bit amusing that tav was wearing fancier clothes than astarion in the epilogue. can't help but to imagine that astarion made the outfit, but ran out of time to make his own, so he just decorated one of his old jackets with silver paint.
[[ok gang i am genuinely so sorry to be doing this literally RIGHT before the end of the event but i've got a whole buncha stuff lining up irl that i am starting to reeeaaally need to address/prioritize and there are a couple things that i still want to do for the "finale" here that i haven't had the time to set up, so all of this is to say iiii need to take at least a day or two to Slow Down And Chill for a bit
I haven't entirely decided if this means I'll take a full break like i have been for the weekends or if I'll just post a little less than I have been, it depends on how I end up feeling really. I will absolutely try my best to make up for the days I've missed tho! I have something pretty cool planned that I think has the potential to be pretty fun, just like i said I gotta set things in place first haha]]
Hi idk if you’ve done this, but can you share some thoughts on Daeron. Your Jake posts reminded me of him coz he seems the closest to normal on the green side but also not really
him and normal jake being the nicest most polite member of each team and then hating each others’ guts in the book for literally no reason other than they just simply do not like each other made me laugh
tears of the kingdom but phantom ganon’s zelda disguise is absolutely god-awful
like it looks from zelda from afar but when up close it’s very obviously monstrous and inhuman
like a zelda version of this froggy idiot here
but the joke is that all of the various NPCs in the regional phenomena quests somehow can’t cotton onto the fact that this…thing is in no way zelda
no forget the fact that it looks like it crawled out of a grave, is commanding various different monsters and (in this version) is actively taunting and harassing link as he goes to stop the phenomena
it looks like zelda ergo it is zelda
and every time link just facepalms hard enough to crush rocks and wonders if the gloom in the air is somehow making people exponentially dumber
Initially did a test run with the Cazador fight, just to see what happens and, after some fun dimension door shenanigans, Ronan got paralyzed to shit and died so I reloaded. The second attempt, I wondered if you could cast Daylight before the fight started so it was already up and my cleric didn't need to waste a whole ass turn on it after saving Astarion from being yoinked. Think what the hell, let's see what happens.
Party walks in. Gets as close to where the conversation trigger is as they can, and Ronan casts Daylight. Cazador auto-aggros, bypasses the evil monologue and the snatching of my twink, and then proceeds to get one rounded as Astarion and Karlach just decimate him and I am howling with laughter.
So I'm just imagining, after having a traumatic conversation with the dude he did seduce and trick into becoming a vampire spawn (unbeknownst to himself) and another conversation with Ronan putting as much doubt into his brain as possible regarding the ascension thing, Astarion's out of his mind with guilt and fear. Doubt and worry and thoughts raging on what is going to happen, what is Cazador going to say, what is he going to say, can they even do this, can he even do this all storming in his mind as they walk up to the big door. As they march down the stairs. As Cazador turns around and opens his mouth to speak-
And then the fucking dragonborn, the man who has endless patience for Astarion's and the rest of their parties excessive bullshit and yet none for anyone else speaking to him, the smug bastard of a cleric he's somehow fallen in love with, tells Cazador he doesn't want to hear it before snapping his fingers and a holy sunlight illuminates the entire ritual chamber. Cazador screams in agony, tries to cast a spell that Gale counters, and runs at the party in a blind rage and Astarion gets to stab the fuck out of him and then even more so after they pull him back out of the coffin.
