/Slowly puts volume 2 of the manga in my mouth.

And.

Eats it……

Ugggghh I love noticing the the little things that make the flow of the story hit as well as they do. I love noticing how the heavy use of solid blacks and blank negative space to make the forms read clearly at a glance. I love how every action shot is crystal clear and dynamic as fuck. I love seeing the interplay of establishing shot panels and small pieces of background to give a sense of place without cluttering the action. I love marveling at the bold contours and fine, fine hatching lines of the ink work. I love the careful usage of screentone patterns and how they were used to give the alchemy its instantly recognizable look. I fucking love. Hiromu Arakawa’s artwork.
