Seriously guys, this one’s a doozy. If you don’t like gore, please check out this post. It has a summery of what happened without getting into detail.
Tread lightly and stay safe my dudes.

Arc Two 119
Nyota was glad to have Lumen’s shoulder to lean on subtly as they returned to the medbay. Hadley caught her eye and grinned.
“Your hands are shaking there, Captain. You have too much coffee?”
Nyota’s best answer was a grimace, which earned her a knowing laugh.
Lumen chuckled and nudged Nyota along. “Come on, ma’am. Next one down’s yours.”
“As you say.” His warm hands were very soothing as weariness and caffeine jitters waged their private war over her joints. The heat worked its way between the combatants and she relaxed with a quiet sigh.
Lumen patted her shoulder. “That does it, eh? Sit tight and I’ll get ya some water so ya don’t get a noggin-cracker tomorrow.”
“Thank you.”
Nyota watched him head over to the sink, playing over the evening’s events in her head. As he handed the full glass to her, she led in with a small smile. “So, you and Namina, then?”
“I can’t tell if you’re just playin’ with me, or if ya actually ain’t surprised, Captain.” Lumen chuckled warmly, but there was an odd little flicker to his glow that Nyota hadn’t seen there before.
“I’ll let you decide that one.” She took a long drink and paused. “You don’t seem happy, Lumen.”
“Well, ain’t yer eye sharp?” He waved her off half-heartedly. “Don’t ya mind it, Captain. Jus’ wishful thinkin’.”
The words hung in the air, and drew her question out slow and soft, like a sliver of glass. “There’s more to this than I see, isn’t there?”
Lumen made a quiet static sound. “Sure is, ma’am. See, it ain’t me and Fern-fangs. I think it’s him and Eldie.”
Nyota took this in slowly and carefully. This was delicate ground, and with what Lumen had told her before of his hesitant, too-slow interest in Sonny’s mother… “He has been bolder with her,” she said, keeping her voice as close to neutral as she could. “Not really reckless like he is with the rest of us. Showing off, nearly.”
Lumen nodded. “That is showin’ off, for a floran. When they got someone they want to stick by, they get all…” He waved his hands with another noise of frustrated static. “Careful-like, I guess. Show off them fangs but make sure ya don’t eat dirt with them, does that make sense?”
Nyota nodded and set the glass down. “I think I see it, then. How odd…” She chuckled quietly. “How exactly unlike humans.” It stung, deep in her chest, as she realized she did not know what it was like for apex. Not what it was supposed to be like.
Lumen flickered and dimmed. “That’s right, ma’am. It sure is funny.” He brightened a little again, in a way that felt like a forced smile. “So, I thought I’d show Eldie how it’s done a bit. Got SAIL to tell me a few tricks, offered to help. She ain’t as stubborn as some folks I know, see.”
Nyota took the friendly jab with a smile—Lumen needed it right now. “Has she learned well?”
He snorted and made his plasma fizz like a shaken soda. “Golly but I hope not. Ya heard the fool I did out there. Shucks but I’m rusty, ain’t I… used to be right good at this sort of thing when I was Sonny’s age. But that was half a century ago, I guess. Ain’t short even by a nova’s age. Still, it made her laugh, and that’s alright.”
Ah. There it was. “You want to be happy for them,” Nyota said gently.
Lumen nodded, just once, and left his head bowed. “I sure do, ma’am.”
She offered a hand. “But it’s hard when you feel sad for yourself.”
He sighed and took her hand. “A hundred years old is too dang old to feel like this.”
“That’s what I said about twenty-eight,” Nyota replied solemnly. “Which one, then? Or both?”
He hummed with a deep note of appreciation that she hadn’t heard in a long time. “Both indeed. Ya do see bright. That’s what got me so riled, I think. Can’t have both, can I?”
“Why not?” Nyota looked straight at him as he straightened up with a startled whirr. “Apex tend toward pairs, but not always. And Floran have never quite followed the ‘rules’ that others might set out for them. Go ahead. Ask them.” She gripped his hand tighter. “Lumen. You really do have nothing to lose.”
“Ya really sure?” He was shaking a little, with laughter and with something out of her reach.
Nyota folded her other hand over his. “You’re afraid of losing them. Listen to me. I have loved and lost too many times, and I think you have too, haven’t you?”
“Now that ain’t fair, readin’ me so,” he protested, his usually warm orange glow muted by swirling, confused, unhappy clouds.
Nyota gave him a sharp look and he quieted down. “Lumen,” she said, “we may lose either way, even if we don’t reach. Why not reach, then?” She put a hand over her heart, over the pale scar. “Believe me. You do have nothing to lose.”
“Golly.” He broke off with a sigh, like metal relaxing as the heat went out of it, but the heat stayed in his hands and voice. “Well. Well, ain’t it the purdiest irony for my captain to be tellin’ me to follow my heart?” He reached up as if aiming to flick her nose, keeping back just enough that she felt the barest whisper of static from his shell. “Ya know I ain’t got a heart, right?”
She smiled, her own heart so warm with the mischief and moment. “Your brand, Lumen. Have you looked in the mirror?”
He might have been Sonny for a moment there, laugh whistling almost as high as her teakettle chimes, bright as a fire. “Darnit, ya got me there. Tarnation, ma’am. And thank ya kindly. I ain’t ready. But ya watch. I’m gonna try.”

On a side note, here’s Ingo!

Ingo’s fighting very hard to retire from Wardenship after seeing a whole train fall from the sky and land on the other side of Hisui. Unfortunately, this is a track he can not disembark until either him or Sneasler become permanently indisposed.

Arc Two 122
(this is the last one I have fully written)
Despite the many batches Lumen had made, the muffins didn’t last long against her ravenous friends. Gizzie timidly offered to help wash up after, and joined Arrowmail at the sink when Nyota gave permission. Marcy tagged in to help dry things, though she had to let the others put things away in the higher cabinets. The rest of them settled around the kitchen table. The cozy atmosphere was still there, but a tense new undercurrent rippled beneath it.
“So,” Nyota said, voicing what they were all thinking, “let’s talk business.”
“Ya don’t need me lecturin’ ya again,” Lumen said, folding his hands under his chin as he leaned on the table. “I trust ya to keep that business a few more days out.”
“Correct. I still have to repair my gear and get rid of this cough. But,” Nyota looked over at Hadley, “I have a promise to keep.”
Hadley nodded, her expression oddly quiet. “We can’t put that off too long, can we?”
“You tell me. You know her far better than any of us.” Nyota studied her; she was nervous, under the calm, but it wasn’t fear. Something else lurked there.
Hadley sighed. “No, we really can’t. Like Danni said, he can only put her off for so long. And if she was already sending one of my brothers after your head, she’s pretty impatient. But you can’t just walk in there, either. I know, I know. We said you would. But she’s a wily old beast. Hates meeting anyone from less than the best spot. She’ll have a trap ready for sure.”
“I expected as much.” Nyota felt a little disappointed at being correct, but not surprised. “And I take it she would not appreciate if we draw notice to that.”
“Yeah, no.” Hadley shook her head. “We have to play along, at least a bit. She won’t try to hurt you when I’m close by, though. I’m her heir, whether she likes that or not. Can’t risk me jumping to your aid and getting caught in crossfire, or splitting the clan. Lots of them like me and all.”
Nyota nodded slowly. It wasn’t a plan, not by any count, but an idea was forming still. Better than just walking in and letting this Boss do what she liked with them. “Mihre,” she said.
“Eh?” The floran looked up, nictating membranes flicking across their eyes as if they were confused. They’d been pondering the coffee pot, apparently paying no attention, but Nyota knew they had been listening in.
She made eye contact, keeping her face as relaxed as possible with the thoughts whirring behind her eyes. “I am going to ask a favor of you, and perhaps your Greenfinger. I will repay it to your liking when this is done.”
They blinked twice, eyes widening. “No guarantee of nice play, for what we ask? This must be big favor.”
She smiled a little. “Big favor, and trust in Namina to warn me if you and your Greenfinger were not worth my trust. I will explain it in detail later. I need to work those details out still.”
Mihre thought about this, the entire crew staring at both of them in anticipation, for a good long minute. “Deal,” they said at last. “I will asssk Greenfinger, you tell details later. Not a bad thing, having a Protectorate favor in the pocket. Not bad at all, having ex-Miniknog, yes?”
Nyota’s smile thinned, but only from habit, not from offense. How odd that her past was a benefit now, instead of a threat.
“Fighting trickery with trickery?” Hadley said, filling the strange silence that followed Mihre’s acceptance. “Well, it’s not half-bad to try, but...”
Nyota touched her arm, trying to reassure her. “I will be careful with it. As careful as I can be. I do not want to be their enemy. They’re your family.”
“Well, yeah. I know that. I mean--that’s not it.” Hadley leaned back in her chair, arms folded close around herself. “It’s just, all of you. I don’t want you getting hurt--you’re my family too.”
A moment of shock, but it was swallowed in a warm and gentle knowing. “So I didn’t imagine what you said, as Aroneus fell.”
Hadley blushed and curled in on herself more, mumbling, “I don’t know what you would’ve imagined...”
Nyota hummed, her eyes half-closing under the warm memory. “It’s not so important for everyone to hear, maybe,” she said, giving Hadley a bit of safety. “Nothing to dig into. But.”
Her face went solemn and serious, the warmth almost tempering the resolve inside her, as she placed a closed fist over her heart. “Hadley, I vow to do everything in my power to keep all your family safe from harm.”
Hadley nodded slowly and carefully, uncurling, like her thoughts were so heavy that they would make her fall if she moved too hard. “Everything in your power, huh? From anyone else... But from you, I’ll believe it. I’ll believe in you.”

“One of my council members, Leiko, sent me a message a couple days ago. Leiko’s father and personal bodyguard, Lord Kentaro, has been acting…rather strange as of late. Leiko said that this has been happening for a little while now, but…recently it’s gotten worse. Lord Kentaro has been starting to attack Pearl Clan members, and even harmed his own child a few days ago…. Leiko decided that it was too much to handle and needs some backup. So, we’re here to answer the council member’s call.”

I really despise the Marvelification of Stranger Things, because all the interviews nowadays are constantly referencing how fast paced and epic and big the finale will be but the reason people fell in love with the show wasn't special effects or long episodes; it was the plot, it was the characters, it was the mystery. Stranger Things 1 may have been a story about a government conspiracy and a monster, but that's not why we stuck around. The show can throw amazing CGI, Russians, a battle within the American army and an apocalypse at the audience with the biggest budget known to man but if they forget to ground it and keep it central, it'll just get lost amongst a plethora of other "epic" blockbusters. We want Steven King, not Avengers.
