James and Regulus had been dating for five months. Five glorious months. However this information had been withheld from James’ best friend, Regulus’ brother, Sirius. Remus knew. Barty knew. Hell, even Pete knew. But they decided that Sirius could not know, at least for the time being.
They had actually managed this so far quite successfully, taking use of the map, James’ invisibility cloak, and free periods. These precautions were taken in order to postpone the dramatic outburst that would be seen when Sirius Black, biggest drama queen ever to have graced the halls of Hogwarts Castle, found out about his best friend dating his younger brother in secret.
But of course the precautions could only get them so far and postponed doesn’t mean cancelled in its entirety so one day, Sirius would inevitably find out.
That day is today.
Sirius had walked in on James and Regulus snogging about a half hour ago. After having a first screaming match with Regulus and banishing him to his dorm, promptly followed by throwing up (dramatically), he gets James seated in the desk chair that resides in the dorm with a bright light shining in him eyes, hollywood movie interrogation style.
“I forbid you from seeing Regulus!”
“You forbid me?”
“Yes!”
“Until when?”
“For forever! You say never kiss, speak to, or touch my baby brother ever again! So long as you both shall live!”
At this point Remus chooses to speak up, “Pads, you should know that this has been going on for five months.”
“Months!?”
“Yeah,” James replies sheepishly from his place on the chair.
“For five months you have been desecrating his mind and body with your devilish charms and troublesome ways!?”
“I- um-”
“From what I’ve heard, Regulus is the one who does more mind-desecrating of the both of them,” Remus says, “Not that James had much of a mind to begin with.”
“Hey!”
“Yeah, he has James completely whipped,” Peter chimes in, “You should consider yourself lucky that you haven’t had to deal with him everyday drooling over him, ‘Regulus is so pretty,’ ‘Regulus is so smart,’ ‘I wish Regulus would take those attractive hands of his and-’”
“OKAY! I get the picture!” Sirius turns his attention back to James, “What are your intentions with my brother?”
“I- uh-”
“Is it purely sexual?”
“No!”
“And you appreciate his intellect as well as his looks?”
“Yes!”
“Do you love him?”
“Yes!”
“You love me?” Regulus’ small voice can be heard from the doorway.
“What are you doing here? I told you to go to-”
Regulus interrupts his brother “James, do you love me?”
“Yes, I do.”
Regulus runs into James’ waiting arms and pulls him into a kiss. They hear the sound of Sirius gagging in the background, likely off to the loo again to be sick. The kiss between them only deepens. They both need this more than they need air to live, this is the only thing they’d ever really need to keep them going, this spark they could never extinguish. The kiss finally breaks as they come up for air and they both rest their forehead on the other’s, noses touching, breaths ghosting across each other’s faces.
as a spn and now 9-1-1 fan, i can confirm that on the 4th when i was trying to sleep i sat straight up in bed and was like “something… something just happened” and then proceeded to not sleep all night.
But for now, I avoid her. There she can haunt me all she likes. Who said the afterlife was lonely?
For now I turn my attention to Bon Bon, and I'm torn between allowing my friend to mourn and questioning her. Either way, I planned on dropping off a gift of some sort. Maybe some flowers? Or is she allergic?
Note to self: find out what she likes! Maybe easier questioning can follow? I don't want to be tacky… so I’ll just ask around.
**Later**
Sweetie wasn't home. Or maybe she was. The windows were all closed. I thought I saw someone peeking through the blinders when I knocked, but no answer. I left the cookies by the front door. What more could I do? If she's there, I hope she knows that her friends are all going to stick by her side.
I want to write something poetic about grief. Something poignant. But there was nothing poignant about Lyra's body, recognized only by her hair and cutie mark.
There was once something beautiful there, but it's gone now.
