It’s probably been said already, but I think the reason I find myself gravitating away from modern western media and towards anime/k-drama/what have you is that I would so much rather watch something that’s maybe a little cheesy and overdone, but fundamentally earnest and heartfelt that knows what it is and isn’t ashamed of it, than something flashy, glossy, and manicured trying to appeal to every possible demographic and above all trying so so desperately not to be *shudders* cringy that it somehow manages to be so in every possible manner

the funniest thing about having a cool car is that middle-aged men will just come up and talk to you in parking lots but in a way where you feel completely safe. the most i have ever felt perceived as an equal human by strange men interacting with me unprompted. they are blinded by the car and i am no longer "woman" i am just "owner of this cool shiny car which i must compliment"

something something transitional period in my life so a new fursona appeared to me a in a prophetic dream. ain’t that just the way
yes he is a crow mixed with [REDACTED] and his name is pigeon. i’m not sure why. like i said, this guy was really a moment where my mind went away for a few hours and i endeed up with a sore wrist and this odd fellow afore me. they eat solely plain, unseasoned toast for 3 meals a day and then wonder why they feel ill.
also if anyone is curious about the maths in the background i just feel like they’d be the type to just doodle on their math homework. they’re a crow so it looks kind of ominous and omen-y but if you squint you can probably make out that it’s just badly drawn warrior cats fanart (definitely nothing to do with my own habits….)

why do people tag Character A & Character B right alongside Character A/Character B they are different tags that serve different functions if characters are romantic in a fic, don't use the gen relationship tag right next to the romantic relationship tag it defeats the entire purpose of the tags having distinctions

society if hoo had them at uni age and the lost trio went to chb and chiron is like "how tf are ANY of u alive and unclaimed". wilderness was just community college.
#on a serious note this changes a lot actually. annabeth and percy would not be in chb anymore so when percy goes missing#its like. a genuine possibility and fear because demigods don't make it that old. there is also some added time between tlo and tlh as well#further adding to jasons isolation as being even WEIRDER than everyone else. he also would've been praetor for longer so maybe the romans#wouldve cared more. this also does away with the plot hole of ppl not giving a shit that jason piper and leo (and dylan) straight up#dipped. introducing piper especially to a summer camp makes chb less appealing because they're too old for that and thus makes their#departure from chb make more sense in toa. yet also it opens up the possibility of new rome uni.... which i cannot see any reason as to why#leo would not go there!!!!! outside of being banned cuz he bombed new rome lol. but pipers sexuality arc works for college too!!! ur never#too old to find urself. but also this is the question of if you are able to relatively function in society (this is more for piper leo fran#and i guess percy) then why would you even fight this prophecy??? anyway lol them being college aged is perfect cuz percy is literally#going to a new place and having a new transition with new ppl... like u do in college LOL. now the question is would hazel still be 13. nic#is a lot older at this point and perhaps has the same age gap as bianca and him did 🤔 cant remember. but also don't know why hazel was 13#in the first place lol. idk. in my college hoo she is just a senior in hs about to graduate from spqr and thinking about staying there or#possibly going to newru after seeing frank make the decision the previous year! SAD!#anyway in hoo. percy and annabeth are sophomores. frank and the lost trio are freshman.#but then in toa. percy annie frank and the lost trio are all graduating cuz percy got held back and Annabeth failed after tartarus fr.#but then also know that piper never went to newru and is adamant about going to mortal uni. and leo kills in newru but is bored. nvm i#forgot he died 🧍‍♂️ ummmmmm ok. ignore leo. and jason actually. so um. ok that really threw me off but are u getting it. that's when apollo#is like 'heeyyyyy i need help pwease 🥺' and they're all like 'dude.'#OK!#but also i ackowedge that this is a children's book and i am not its demographic so god be with you.

if you're one of the people who saw the amazing digital circus pilot doing numbers, decided to watch, and felt it was middling to such a degree that the popularity is baffling, i have something you might want to hear:
"Glitch Productions is a fully self sustained Australian animation studio with a following of over nine million engaged fans. Our ultimate goal is to make animated shows targeted at teens and young adults that tell fun and whimsical stories while also respecting our audience's ability to appreciate mature plots and complex themes.
The studio was originally founded in the bedrooms of brothers Kevin & Luke Lerdwichagul. Starting as Youtube influencers, the brothers garnered their large following through animated and real life comedy sketches on Youtube. After eight years of experience on the platform and dominating their genre, they decided their next big step was to fulfill their life long dreams of making animated shows to tell exciting and never seen before stories.
Four years, five animated series, tens of millions of views later, Glitch is now one of the biggest web animation studios in Australia. Glitch lives and breathes online content and our shows are expertly crafted to attract large audiences for the online landscape."

Spelling was not standardized in Shakespeare's England
yes this is my point. william "sex jokes" "historical RPF" shakespeare is broadly upheld as the pinnacle of english literature, and zero percent of his works conform to any standardized spelling/grammar system
"shakespeare couldn't spell his own name" is shorthand for "the snobbery of ~english literature & canon~ is both self-contradictory and arbitrary in the extreme." & to me this means that anyone can create whatever they want and be just as good as any shakespearean sonnet. bc the only real qualifier for "good writing" is that somebody cared about the story they were telling, and the only real qualifier for "good reading material" is that someone, somewhere, wants to read it
no gods no kings no earl of oxford only a bunch of plays written in a drama club's groupchat and the people who keep investing them with meaning. there is no magic formula or golden standard. the only thing that gives any art any value is the people who choose to value it
#ask linden#this is about the title of my blog#shakespeare couldn't spell his own name and NOBODY CARES!#this is my point!#nobody *should* care! it doesn't matter!!#also that last line abt earls of oxford is in reference to the ''oxfordian theory of shakespeare authorship'' as the wiki page calls it#u can check that on wikipedia if ur interested but what it boils down to is that a bunch of academics have been up in arms since ~the 1920s#over the idea that The Venerable Shakespeare could have been some rube born to commoners#obviously plays so Erudite (& so uniquely appealing to the ''commoner'' demographic) could not have been authored by some paltry lowborn!#why that boy billy probably couldn't even write!#- which like. cmon man. u have about as much evidence as chemtrails here. and also like -#yeah there's a solid chance shakespeare wasn't super up on his penmanship! but that doesn't mean he wasn't capable of eloquence??#like in all probability a lot of shakespeare's work might not have been penned by him#& in fact it's not unlikely that at least some of it was quasi-crowdsourced as actors & collaborating playwrights weighed in#Richard Burbage probably had a lot to do with Hamlet's character work & writing!! we know this!!#we do not create in a vacuum!!! art written in a groupchat is not less valuable or artistic for having peer review built into it!!#shakespeare was just some guy. & he's also a symbol#arbitrary as that designation may be. but the old white men who chose their canon chose him as a patron saint#so i will go on insisting that if we're to know shakespeare we had better know him properly. foul mouth gallows humour bisexuality & all#shakespeare#literature#linden's originals#linden in the tags

Genuinely with the death of nintendo handheld low-cost games that came with the switch, as every continuing handheld series became a switch series and thus had a price increase, a lot of their most kid-friendly franchises have become more and more inaccessible to children, especially now that nintendo has decided to follow every other major console and has started pricing new games even higher.
And now that a lot of these series are so old and thus a lot of their fanbase has aged into adulthood, a lot of these series would benefit greatly from making some of the new entries more adult-oriented. But nintendo very stubbornly wants to keep their main franchises as kid-friendly as possible, sometimes severely restricting the potential of these series by not allowing them to explore things like more complex mechanics, higher difficulty, or darker topics that past entries have brushed over in favor of keeping the age rating low. Pokemon's core battle engine has been in want of an overhaul for years now, and Legends Arceus kind of did that but not wholly, for example.
This would be pretty understandable in the interest of keeping every entry of these series accessible to all age groups, but with inflating prices, who are these games even for anymore? A normal kid with your average allowance from their parents isn't going to be able to afford tears of the kingdom or even $60 pokemon games more often than not. Back when these games were $30-$40, sure, if they saved up, but now many families have even tighter budgets than ever due to the rising cost of living. Nintendo is pricing themselves out of their target audience while simultaneously leaving their adult fans who have been with them since childhood to feel neglected in favor of exclusively making games for today's children.
Obviously nintendo will always make sales because even though they make children's games, they're still fun as hell for a person of any age, and many kids will be able to afford their games once in a while, but it does feel like they're kind of... making their games for an audience that barely exists.

I think the reason I don't really enjoy the ofmd fandom is that most people are actually convinced that they have the correct interpretation of the show and everyone else is wrong. and it's not just the rabid izzy fans, it's most people in every camp. the fun thing about the everyone's opinions are incorrect except mine take on fandom is that it's not true, and it stops being fun when you truly believe it

i think one of the funniest things i've learned about writing from creating self-inserts is... giving a character a lot of specific traits that you think would "limit" their ability to be relatable is actually WAY better at making them relatable than if you tried to create a character that's "universally" relatable by sanding off all the specific parts of their identity that you think might "alienate" people. my self-insert characters have a ton of specific traits and peculiarities that i thought would make them less relatable to audiences--but when i share the characters with people, i'm frequently told that they are actually more relatable for having those weirdly specific traits. which is really fucking funny to me because i make my self-inserts to be relatable to me specifically, so when other people say they find one of them relatable, i'm kinda like "really??? really??????? they're literally me?? they're not meant to be relatable to anyone but me?????? what hte fuc?????????"
like i know "relatability" isn't necessarily what you want to go for with all characters, but i think a lot of writers right now don't realize that making a character with less specific traits is actually more alienating to audiences than if you make a character have a lot of weird little habits and use really weird phrases over and over in their dialogue and things like that. writing a "universally relatable" character is just not possible because of the incredible diversity of the human experience, and chasing that attempt to make your character relatable to as broad an audience as possible is basically a foregone conclusion in the failure direction. because humanity is weird as hell, and everyone does things they think are normal but are actually really weird, and things that they think are really weird that are actually normal. everyone has a different idiolect, and will use phrases from lots of different sources without even thinking. everyone develops weird fucking coping mechanisms for the shit they experience in their life. it may be tempting to try and cut down on the little specific stuff to make your character appeal to the broader audience, but the more "specific" traits your character has, the more it'll speak to people with those specific traits. you can never make a character that EVERYONE can relate to, but you don't NEED to. you can just make a character that's relatable to people in a specific demographic, because i guarantee you the people in the demographic you're portraying will be THRILLED about that portrayal if you do it right.
