The way the Metatron, as a master manipulator, uses strategic validation to lull vulnerable people into a false sense of safety and ease up on the defenses they have built up against the abuse which the manipulator is a part of. Telling Aziraphale he too has partaken of delicious coffee. Telling Muriel reading is a wonderful thing to do. Telling Aziraphale he's the only man for the job because of his unique skills. This is classic, classic emotional abuse and manipulation.

So in Heaven they ask Muriel "who are you?" and Muriel answers "No one." And then they give their title, but they close that off with "... but no one, really."

Please tell me I'm not the only person who flashed back to their childhood read of The Odyssey (in translation, my mom's old high-school taped-together brown-covered paperback Fitzgerald) and was all like OH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIII--

By calling yourself... no one. And hiding under a sheep -- er, a bookshop roof.

Now, S2 Muriel does rather live up to this lack of name; they're genuinely a clueless nonentity. But by season end, they're a clueless nonentity with books to gain some clue from, and I think Neil Gaiman, who has read more books than I have and I have read a whole damn lot of books, thinks that's important.
