your daily reminder that alters are the body and they should be treated as such!

this includes an alter’s race, abilities, disabilities, age (when it comes to boundaries), assigned gender at birth, etc. please dear gods above stop speaking over actual marginalized groups.

alters should not be claiming to be different races from the body. race involves specific experiences, culture, and consequences that come with a specific phenotype. an alter in a white body will never understand the experiences of a black person and should not claim to be anything other than white. doing so is racist and ignorant of how systemic racism and cultural identities work. it’s okay to say that you present a certain way in headspace, but never claim to actually be a different race.

alters should be treated as the body’s age. when it comes to boundaries and safety. adult-bodied systems and singlets should NOT be communicating inappropriately with minor-bodied systems, even if they’re speaking with an alter who presents as an adult, just as adult bodied systems should not be speaking inappropriately with minors, regardless of the age of an alter.

this also includes recognizing that littles are not literal children!!! many littles are extremely mature, can handle all of life’s problems, and take care of the body. people need to stop treating all littles like babies, and system spaces need to stop banning littles from speaking. littles are still the body’s age mentally. many littles do act like children though, just recognize that not all of them do.

individual alters cannot be disabled if the body isn’t disabled. it’s possible for alters to have altered abilities such as blindness or a limp, but they should not call themselves disabled if the entire body itself is not disabled.

all alters have the same agab. while an alter may have a different agab in source or just as a feeling, assigned gender at birth is scientific and comes with specific experiences that those with different agabs will not experience. an alter in an afab body will have specific experiences with misogyny and sexism while existing in our society, and an alter in an amab body will have experienced stigmatization of traits that are considered “girly” and will have struggled differently than afabs.

if y’all are claiming to be a certain race/disability level/age/agab to speak for those people when you aren’t actually in that group, please please please educate yourselves on the actual struggles of that group. if you have privilege from your bodily traits, don’t invade the spaces of those who do not have those privileges.

Taking a Hiatus

so i’ve been debating doing this for a while. like three months actually.

i’ve been active on radblr since early 2019 and never taken a break for longer than about 5 days.

I’m exhausted.

I’m sick of the doom and gloom, and I’m sick of the infighting. I’m sick of being harassed instead of engaged, sick of having my opinions and debates misconstrued. Sick of people on here not even reading my argument before responding, often attacking me, as a person, instead of critiquing my opinions.

I’m sick of the shitty debate skills, the narcissism, the selfishness. I’m sick of it all.

I’m sick of the gaslighting, saying that being a radfem isnt about ideological purity but the moment one woman has an opinion that is different from the groupthink, even if its minor, then y’all have zero issue dogpiling on her.

I’m sick of feeling the pressure to label and define myself before im even an adult, and sick of it being used against me.

Sick of the double standard, that its ok to ackowledge there isnt a permanent state of self and that people and opinions change, that its ok to not know yourself until youre a mature adult, only for that all to be thrown away.

I am just fed up and sick and tired of it. The worst part? I thought, all this time, we were a generally good community. I thought we were for the most part amicable acquaintances. I thought that many were friends. But no. Radblr says the catty woman myth is fake, but goes on to prove it at any given chance.

Radblr is almost just as cultish as the trans and queer movement.

It’s worse because most of radblr is adults.

And it sucks. It sucks that the feminist movement has devolved into mainstream woke mens-rights bullshit with a minority that claims to believe in actual feminism, but doesnt practice it.

Radblr is more concerned with harassing women who dont ascribe to their extremist ideological purity than with actually making a difference.

I don’t know if or when i will be back. I still hold radfem beliefs, sure. But i cannot sit here and keep taking harassment and cruelty and mockery in stride while juggling a horse, college apps, and school. I cannot sit here and be the more mature person than grown ass adult women. I cannot sit here silently while all of you enable this, brush it aside, claim its a minority.

because guess what? its not a minority. the majority of radblr is narcissistic assholes with a victim complex.

I am sick and fucking tired of seeing the best in yall when you cant even treat me and each other with basic fucking respect.

I am sick and tired of seeing vulnerable young girls peak and make their way into radical feminism only to be silenced and harassed and shunned away. I am sick of seeing this excused and erased and swept under the rug.

Most of all, i am sick of being harassed for calling it out.

Until you all get your priorities in order and your ethics in check, you have no right to be calling yourselves feminists.

The only difference with me vs other teens bullied off radblr is that i’m not going silently. I’m not deactivating in the middle of the night and disappearing without a trace.

I am telling all of you straight up what the hell is wrong with this community. I am calling you out because i know you can be better.

But i will not be a part of this.

Get your own goddamn movement in order.

anon with the super long texts about not assuming. you are correct. 100000000% correct. but please remember these are kids and young teens you’re talking about. the oldest person who’s auditioned that i heard about was 16, and god knows how old is the youngest. while i know you’re correct, we are kids auditioning for a book series we love, many of us neurodivergent who cling onto this due to being one of the only neurodivergent rep we know and grew up with (as you saw many times in the #whyPJOmatters hastag ashlee started). i feel like i have to clarify throughout the text that i know you’re right and agree with you because it really seems like i don’t but expecting maturity coming from a group of literal kids when grown adults who have been in the industry for longer and decades sometimes do the exact same thing isn’t realistic and won’t happen. we know the chances of callbacks and mainly getting the role are extremely slim and we know this can be slightly unhealthy, but we all want the role and we all know we’re competing against each other and we all know that people are getting callbacks and we are not and that is deeply upsetting for us, but for the most part we see the callback anons and think ok this can happen still. this is happening to someone else why not me too. and as long as we aren’t attacking callback anons and the people they know and as long as we aren’t completely loosing our minds, it’s not that deep as long as we are self aware we will be ok. but i really feel like we should also be making sure callback people don’t loose their minds and don’t obsess over it because they are the ones who really have a reason to be stressed and i’m not speaking evil into you but i’ve seen friends go into madness because of a role and we’ve all seen what goes on with disney actors so callback people take care of yourselves, your mental health, if you don’t get the role that’s okay, if you do, congratulations, but please take care

yes i auditioned yes i haven’t gotten a callback and i know this probably won’t happen so yes i am partly biased on this so fellow auditioners, don’t loose hope but also don’t loose your mind obsessing. sorry for length and this not making sense and callback anons i’m so happy and proud of you give your best and i can’t wait to see y’all on my screen next year

Hero to Zero

Sit down, kids. I want to have a rap sesh with y’all.

There is no such thing as a perfect show. Even if you think there was a perfect show, it’s rare it holds up to multiple viewings. Still, Avatar: The Last Airbender probably got as close to perfect as any children’s show could hope to. All this to say that ATLA is a good show. A great show, even. But it is not a perfect show. and they missed some pretty big opportunities.

Specifically where Aang was concerned.

So, here are the Top 3 Opportunities ATLA Missed with Aang:

1. Having Aang actually work for his victory.

If you’ve followed me for literally any length of time, you know that I hate,hate, HATE the LionTurtle/Rock of Destiny Deus Ex Double-Team ( ™ © ®) in the last episode. Now, I know some of you think that I- and others like me- just wanted to see Aang kill Ozai. To you I say...

Look, some of my favorite superheros have a no kill policy. I have no problem with the idea of Aang capturing Ozai and having Ozai stand trial. What I have a problem with is the fact that Aang didn’t have to work at finding that solution at all. There were plenty of chances to set up the finale in a way that wouldn’t have made it a complete and utter cop out. It wouldn’t have even taken that much. Aang was confronted by the terrible realities of war all throughout the series. He knew everyone expected him to end the war. He was involved in the deaths a lot of Fire Nation soldiers at the battle in the Northern Water Tribe. At any point, there was room to have Aang face what was expected of him as Avatar and consider what it meant for him as the last Air Nomad.

What I- and others like me- wanted was not for Aang to become a compunctionless killing machine. What I wanted was to see Aang realizing his duty and working to find a solution that would end the war and keep his values in tact. Instead, he waits until the last minute to consider what how he would end the war, snapped at his friends for pushing the obvious, and (until the magic Lion Turtle arrives) best solution to the problem that the world’s been facing for 100 years, and is rewarded for (let me be frank) his absolute laziness and refusal to accept responsibility.

Aang’s whole arc was supposed to show that he had to stop running away from his problems and accept his role as Avatar. The thing is...he didn’t. He had one moment where it looked like he was ready to stop running and do his job (DoBS), but that moment is robbed of any power by the finale. Why didn’t Aang have this moment then? Why wasn’t the rest of the series spent with Aang putting in work towards finding a solution? As the story stands, Aang looks inexcusably stupid, even for a 12 year old who didn’t grow up with a war. Not having Aang actively working towards a solution, freaking out over the solution presented, and then stumbling on the one being in the whole world that could help him undermines his entire journey. Aang was not the Real Hero of the series. Plot convenience was.

2. Having Aang learn more about how the war affected his friends personally.

This kind of ties in to my first point, but Aang never really had a moment where he realized exactly what was at stake. Not just for the world in general, but for his friends. Heck, he never really reckoned with what happened to his own people (but we had time for a nonsense Footloose pastiche???). Had Aang made any effort to understand the war from his friends’ perspectives- particularly Katara, with whom he was allegedly in love- it might have occurred to him sooner what they expected of him.

There’s no real moment of Aang understanding how much Sokka and Katara and even Toph have lost because of the war. He meets war refugees and is there when Katara rescues the earthbenders from the Fire Nation prison ship, but it never sinks in how much damage any of these people have survived. I don’t think I’m asking for that much here. I understand ATLA is a children’s show, but look how they were able to show us the devastation of war and abuse through literally every member of the Gaang except Aang. Even finding out that his mentor had been murdered washed over Aang like a summer squall.

It’s great that he had the perspective of someone who got to live in a world without war, and that he got to be a kid a bit longer than his friends, but at some point it would have been nice to see something stick to him. There were moments where I thought Aang was finally starting to understand the enormity of what the war had done and what it would take to end it (like in DoBS), but then the very next episode would have him goofing off (remember when Aang wanted to take off and play the day after a bunch of people- including the father of two of his “best friends”- sacrificed their lives and freedom for him? Pepperidge Farm remembers.) Nothing seemed to stick to him, which is why his refusal to kill Ozai and lack of preparation with another solution is both infuriating to me and honestly not that surprising at all. Aang is the most static character in ATLA (a show that included Mai, cardboard puppet brought to life by dark magic). He learns nothing. And honestly the fact that he stays the same from the beginning to the end of the series makes him look incredibly unempathetic. Who remains so unmoved by the tragedies of his friends?

3.Having Aang not get Katara and having the hero of a popular TV series handle unrequited love in a mature and realistic way.

Even less secret than my hatred of the Deus Ex Double-Team ( ™ © ®) are my feelings about Kataang. ( Shut up! You knew this was coming. Don’t act brand new). Now, normally, my focus is how bad Kataang was for Katara (the canon did my girl dirty, and I will NEVER forgive or forget), however this time, I want to focus on what the show lost by forcing this pair (Kataang was only developed if you only care about Aang’s feelings. Fight amongst yourselves. My mind is made up on this point).

Avatar: the Last Airbender was amazing in a lot of ways- groundbreaking, even- but it also perpetuates the idiotic myth of the Friend Zone, and those lucky fellas who break out of it. Throughout the whole series, we see that Aang is super into Katara, but the show also drives home pretty clearly that the feeling is not mutual up until that last scene (which makes it clear that the show runners didn’t give a crap about Katara). The showrunners had a golden opportunity here to show a young boy graciously accept that his crush isn’t into him, and remain good friends with her despite the fact that romance is off the table. Instead they chose to push the message that a guy can, through persistence, intimidation (lava fissure anyone?), and a healthy dose of arrogant entitlement, win the girl in the end. It’s not even that this was a terrible relationship for Katara and Aang; it’s that it’s such a boring and typical conclusion for this show to end on. Following through on Aang needing to let go of his unhealthy attachment to Katara would have been a much more powerful move.

That’s not to say he had to stop being her friend. In fact, I think had he actually let Katara off of that pedestal he’d set her up on, they could have formed deeper bond based on mutual understanding and respect. Instead, we got “Hero Gets the Girl, Because...Hero?” Instead we got a pair that upholds the dangerous Fiend Zone myth, which arrested Aang’s development, turned Katara into a hollowed out trophy wife and produced three maladjusted adult children. It would have been a fascinating direction to take the story...if it had been done on purpose.

He’s defiantly the kind of guy who likes casual dates around the city and doing things you love

Even if he’s not interested I think Yoshi would love to go on a library date where y’all just drink some coffee or tea and read all day

He would ask which books are your favorite and ask you to read to him !!

I think Yoshi would also like you to teach him about Astrology and the other things your interested in, he likes whatever you like

If you don’t know Japanese already he will 100% want to teach you and have you communicate with him in Japanese bc he thinks it’s charming but if you don’t want to he respects that

He respects you.

He tells his mom and sister about you all the time and sends them pictures of you guys 😂

His family really likes you and thinks you guys are a good couple

When you’re sad Yoshi is really good at listening to you and hopes you trust him enough to tell him what’s wrong

He just really wants your trust and respect and tries his best to earn it.

When you’re stuc on homework or smth just call Yoshi and he will help you, I mean he IS a genius after all

And man when he’s helping you and is all serious 😩 he is so attractive pls

Will deff flirt as a joke with you a lot bc when you do get flustered it’s so cute

But if you flirt or tease back he will smirk bc of how bold you are and it turns into a competition to see who can win.

This man will compliment you ALL the time, even at your worst he will call you beautiful and show so much love and affection towards you

He’s really mature so when you’re in public he’s not too overprotective or anything but he can occasionally get protective or possessive over you, depending on the situation

In conclusion, you guys probably have the most laid back, adult relationship by far and lowkey other couples look up to it.

You guys motivate and push each other to be a better version of yourselves !!

Protecting the Spiderling Pt 3

Avoiding the five essays and four stories I’m meant to be working on because it’s 1AM and I don’t want to :P Plus, I laid back to do some writing, but forgot my novel (that I’m literally writing a paper on) on the other side of the couch and ugh I don’t want to get up to get that XD In other news, I think I’ve said, but final papers are coming up, so I’m in the middle of a mad rush to try and finish up everything so I can use these last weeks to just work on final term papers and portfolios. Also, this idiot here decided she could totally read 30 books this month alone, so.... I’m at 20, maybe 21 if i get to read tonight, but I’m taking recs if you guys have any quick reads that you liked XD

Hope you enjoy because I enjoy writing this but I’m not sure that the story’s all that great. Still working out the characters. Here’s Part 1 and Part 2, if you haven’t read them yet :) If you guys have any fics of mine you’d like to see more of, I’m always excited to hear from y’all! Also, I’m drained of ideas right now lol, so feel free to throw thoughts at me. No promises, but you never know :) Marvel I’ll do anything so long as Peter and/or Tony are involved, and y’all know me and Voltron haha

As soon as Peter left for school the next day, Steve and Tony made their move, calling all the Avengers to a meeting. As soon as they gathered, Bucky quietly moved to the door, ensuring that no one could leave until Tony was done with them. He scoffed when Natasha was the only one who noticed him move. Some heroes. They were just bullies. And idiots.

Although, as far as Bucky knew, they couldn’t really blame Bruce, but whatever. He needed to hear this, too. Better that everyone be on the same page.

“Something has been brought to our attention, and we felt it would be better if we addressed it sooner rather than later,” Steve didn’t even bother with pleasantries. He could feel Tony fuming beside him, and felt it was more important that they get this taken care of before his boyfriend tried to go on a murder spree. While Steve had no doubt Tony could take on any of the Avengers, he also knew that Peter would be upset if half the Avengers were killed by his dad, and then Tony would be sad, and then Bucky would brood cause his favorite boys would be upset, and then Steve would have to listen to all of them mope and whine. Ugh.

“What the hell is your problem with my kid?” Tony demanded. Steve closed his eyes briefly, praying for strength – because yes he was going to dive right in, but not like that – and when he let his eyes open again, he saw Bucky face palming on the other side of the room.

Natasha spoke first, “I thought you said you weren’t related to the boy?”

“That’s not the point, Romanov. The point is that child is in my care and custody, and the other adults,” Tony spat the word like it was an insult, “are treating this like the school playground and bullying the only actual child we have here! It’s a pretty sad day when a 16 year old kid is more mature than Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.”

As Bucky had suspected, Bruce was staring at everyone with surprise and amazement on his face; he had been completely unaware of what was happening to Peter. That still wasn’t an excuse, but that really just told Bucky that he wasn’t spending enough time with the kid, just as he himself hadn’t been. Sure, Bucky hadn’t really been around for most of the custody thing, but even he had seen more of the abuse in the couple of days he’d been back than Bruce apparently had in the last few months.

“He’s too young for the field.”

“Excuse me?” Steve froze. Tony’s voice was dangerously low. “Care to repeat that, Rustwing?”

But Sam bit his lip, and Clint spoke up instead. “He’s just a kid, Tony. It’s not fair for you to let him on the field.”

“You can’t honestly tell me that you’re just jealous that the kid gets to see action on more of a regular basis than you do.”

“Antoshka,” Romanov spoke up again, “he’s too young. He’s going to get hurt, and that’s not fair. He shouldn’t be out in the field at all, because it’s going to get him killed, and that’s going to destroy you.”

There was a long silence, and then Bucky’s disbelieving voice. “So you, what? Thought that you could drive him away… So he would stay off the field? That’s actually what you thought was going to happen?”

Even Bruce was gaping at the spy. Maybe he wasn’t as oblivious as Bucky had originally thought. Clint persisted.

“Well, yeah, because then he would realize that he wasn’t part of the team or anything, and then he would take that time to just go ahead and be a normal kid, because let’s face it, fighting crime – especially the way he does – is not in any way normal, even for an adult. So this would—”

“You are such an idiot,” Bruce hissed. “That wouldn’t stop the kid!”

Tony scoffed. “No kidding. If anything, that would only encourage him to be more stupid on the field, Birdbrain.”

“I feel that we’re getting slightly off track,” Steven broke in. “The main point that we’re driving at is that Peter is a child. One that is under Tony’s – and therefore our – protection. Bullying him by shooting at him—”

Tony shot Clint another dirty look, and Bucky counted it a blessing that he wasn’t calling a suit right then and there.

“—or by ruining his homework, or threatening or even manipulating him to stay in his room is not acceptable.” With each word, Bruce was looking more and more green. “I mean, my God, does it make you feel fucking good about yourselves to make a kid cry? Is that what you were looking for, some kind of entertainment?”

At the reminder of Peter with tears in his eyes, Peter apologizing for being in the way, Peter scurrying off with his overly full bag and what little homework he had saved, Bucky felt anger wash over him again.

“You will be apologizing to Peter.” Tony’s voice was like ice, and it sent both Steve and Bucky on high alert. “Otherwise you can find other living arrangements. If you can’t respect my family, then you will not be allowed to stay here.”

Okay, Here’s How I Feel

Originally this was gonna be a response to @sophfandoms53‘s post, but I felt it got too lengthy and didn’t want to hijack that post with what I had to say about everything going on currently, apparently. So, here’s my two cents on the drama. Okay, I’ll be honest, I haven’t seen much toxic drama so far in this community recently, due to my own dumb luck I guess, but that doesn’t mean it’s far from real, obviously. People who are suffering through this kind of crap have my serious condolences, for being given an unfair amount of flak just because they have a different perspective on characters or potential romantic relationships in this series about a big family of talking anthropomorphic ducks.

Like, I can’t preach this enough. This advice not only applies to the DuckTales fandom, but anyone’s unique takes on anything in general with anything within the entertainment media industry of films/tv.

No one’s opinions are 100% wrong or right. That’s the beauty of subjectivity toward fiction.

Not only does this apply to the Delpad shippers, but any people who have been going back and forth about Louie/Della’s chemistry being questionably handled in Season 2′s last episodes. We can debate all day until we’re blue in the God damn face, but no take is a “wrong” one here. I may strongly disagree with those who called Della mean spirited or unfair to Louie in Glomtales, trying to label it as “abuse” or “emotional isolation” when there are plenty of things in that episode, which I feel easily shoot down that argument, but I’m not gonna try to manipulate those into feeling differently about what they saw in these last several episodes. If you think Della was out of line here, fine. Preach to the heavens for all I care. It’s your own voice and I’m sure there are plenty of those out there, who feel the same as you do, too. Be proud of what you stand for, just please don’t shoot others down in the process of what you believe is “correct”.

You can use all your reasoning in the world to create, what you think is a strong perspective for yourself on something, regarding DuckTales character writing or story driven themes, but here’s the punchline.

Anyone out there trying to use words like “objectively speaking”, won’t cover up your own bias towards what you perceive as a correct or incorrect takes on this series.

This like a BIG pet peeve I have when people try to analyze stuff in their favorite shows or movies. You can try to be as unbiased or professional, as you can be with viewing stuff, but the reality of it is we each have our own biases that we can’t cover up, no matter how hard we try to. We’ve all got our own emotional experiences in life that have given us our own unique/defined perspectives on stuff. Whether you’re a professional critic trying to make a living off these said views or simply a passionate fan expressing their beliefs, you can’t hide that.

Which is completely fine, but please for the love of God don’t try to cover it up. That kind of stuff irks me beyond belief, even if people don’t intend to give off that impression with their reviews, using that phrase of objectivity and are just saying it because it’s a force of habit others have gotten, where they don’t realize the implications of what they’re actually saying that could rub others the wrong way.

It’s fine to have your own biases, but letting it blind you from others different two cents is where things need to stop. There’s healthy biases and unhealthy ones.

DuckTales strong themes of family are what brings people together in this community. Don’t let your own damn pride cloud your judgement. Lead by example, like Louie did in his Season 2 arc, by humbling yourselves when seeing a different take you might not agree with at all. If a freaking kid can do that, why can’t any of y’all, too, who are being toxic?

Here’s a strong piece of advice to cap this post off. You know what I refer to mentally a lot of the time for a mature discussion about my differing opinions with someone else? Anton Ego’s amazing speech from Ratatouille about the meaning/weight of opinions on anything in general. It’s one of the most beautiful mature scene’s I look back on fondly, as an adult in my mid-twenties to this very day, surrounding the topic of an individuals opinions and the faith put into them, too. It can do wonders for me whenever I get into a civil debate with someone. Hell, I’ll probably do an analytical post of my own on that brilliant scene sometime soon. Ratatouille is an excellent Pixar film that deserves a lot of praise for what it managed to accomplish with its themes and messages.

Rolling the Credits

Leaving the cinema was a blur. Maybe it was a combination of the shock and stress catching up to you that kept you from remembering the details. Bits and pieces- the medical staff, the code shouted over earpieces, bumping around in an armoured car while a JSDF psychologist talked at you and scribbled on a notepad- remain, but the little details tying it all together have been pushed to the back amid the chaos.

Of course, there was also the transportation to a hospital. That much comes back to you as you realize you're waking up in a bed in that same hospital. It's odd, awaking in a setting that's not the trailers. You don't really have much time to privately examine your new settings, though, as it's less than a minute before the lock on the door clicks and three new faces enter the room.

Well, relatively new, anyways. It takes you a minute to recall, but these three definitely were a part of the group of suited young adults- they’d said something about surviving a first game, right?- that greeted you yesterday. The last one to enter closes the door behind him.

"Oh, you're awake?” A blond haired man speaks up first, stepping to the front. “Good to see y'all are doin' better after all that nasty stuff that went down..." He rubs the back of his head with an apologetic smile before grinning bigger and beaming with optimism. "Well, 'm Iwao Wakahisai, me and my pals are here to help clear some shit up for ya best we can. I’m guessin’ y’all don’t wanna be left in the dark, especially now."

“They know our names, Wakahisai. The message we sent them, remember?” A woman with short, brown hair scoffs. Though her scowl does age her infinitely, her youthful freckles doting her cheeks betray her maturity.

“Though you know our tones, you don’t know our faces, probably. I’m Minnie LaFleur.” She sure seems to get to the point.

The taller of the three steps over behind them, hands moving in a small flurry at Iwao. He looks to everyone else resting and waves. He fishes out a small notebook and flips it towards you all. [Hiromura, Manabu, hope we can clear this all up some ;;] His hand adjusts the scarf around his neck.

Iwao nods at Manabu, making some hand motions back at him before turning back to face you. "Ya heard 'bout us from Matsumoto-san, like, yesterday, yeah? Dunno if she said why we're here though, lemme cover that to be on the safe side... So, the JS... uh, JSDF, yeah. The JSDF gathered all a' us to try and help y'all. They were like totally dumbstruck with the whole thing, like, mutual killing? What the hell is this shit, I ain't trained for that. So they called in us 'cause we survived, so they thought we'd have good advice and whatever- hope mine helped y'all out, a situation like this really sucks..."

“They just wanted us cause they thought we’d do whatever they wanted cause we both had a common goal,” Minnie scowled. “They thought because we survived that we’d have a way to make things better, to spread ‘hope’ to you kids. They even tried to make me give a speech to the masses. Guess what, being fake and saying everything is gonna be ok won’t fix anything, you gotta work hard. And as much as I hate to admit it, you kids did alright,”

Manabu lets out a sigh, signing back to Iwao and ends it with a shrug. He flips through a couple of pages with a frown and signs over to Iwao again with a frown on his face.

Iwao nods at Manabu, “Ya right- least, they’d probably try, if that lady hadn’t already leaked shit all game, right?” He realizes no one else probably knew what Manabu said, so his response sounded weird- he scratches the back of his head and adds context, “Cause, uh, like, the feds did a real good job of putting a wrap on what happened to us, callin’ it a terrorist attack ‘n stuff. They shipped us out to America to make sure we didn’t say nothin’, even. Though, that one lady, Kooichi, was leaking info in the middle of your ‘game’.” He makes sure to put air quotes around game. “Dunno if that’s a good or bad thing, but basically people know what happened. Speakin’ of her, do any of y’all happen to know what happened to her?”

You blink at the group, confused, before shaking your head and telling them that you don’t know anything about where Eriko went. You know that Yumeno is dead, but the camerawoman’s whereabouts are a mystery.

Minnie scoffed. “How would ya know, it’s all you’ve done to stay alive,” It was odd, though she wasn’t saying anything harmful, the way she said it dripped with malice. What was up with this lady? “Though nyan cat is dead, we don’t even have a clue where to find tac nayn. Thanks to her, everyone across the globe knows who you kids are, for better for worse. It probably won’t fix much, but I bet ya’ll’ll sleep better at night knowing she’s put down,”

Manabu raises an eyebrow at Minnie, motioning to Iwao for a moment before almost cutting himself off. He lets out a frustrated sigh, signing once more.

He glances over the group and signs, finishing his thought with by crossing his arms.

Iwao nods, signing back at Manabu. He looks back at you, “Well, regardless of what happens with Kooichi, that stuff she sent out is, like, out there anyway. So it’ll be best for y’all to stay here and not get hounded by people, yeah? It was mega weird for me to go back to a normal life after our stupid game thing, so I imagine it might be similar for some of ya. You can hang out here, chill, cool down, recoup, all that good stuff...”

You decide to speak up again. Your voice is still cracking- you’re tired, emotionally demolished, and some water would do you a world of good- but you can’t keep staying quiet. You ask them the biggest question you have: ‘What now? What happens next?’.

“You really think we have any fuckin’ clue? Quick answer, we don’t. You kids gotta figure this stuff out for yourselves. Don’t ask us the questions, ask yourselves. Are ya gonna go home, lay low, go back to Hope’s Peak? Well, whatever ya do, don’t attract any more attention to yourselves, we have enough of a hard time watching our asses to watch your’s anymore,”

And... Well, they’re right. Nobody seems to know what you’re supposed to do now. Even with all the new information, you don’t know what’s going to happen next or what your future is going to hold. Starting a new life in Hope’s Peak was supposed to be the start of a bright future, and now that it’s been interrupted by this tragedy, you’re going to have to find yourself a brand new path to follow.

As the banter among the three fades into background noise, you turn your head in the direction of the window. It’s so bright outside... You can see a whole city out there. There are more people visible on the sidewalks below than you’ve seen in ages. They must know of you now if the story you’re being presented with is true. Who’s going to recognize you from now on? What will become of your private life? Question after question burns into your mind.

But then the sunshine hits your window, and there’s a warmth on your face from the rays that quiets your thoughts. You are warm, comfortable, and safe- three feelings you thought you might never experience again. But despite all odds, here you are. Even after everything, you are alive.

That in itself is a victory worth celebrating.
