honestly working haunts is a lot of fun, i've been doing it since 2014!! i've only ever done one theme park style haunt though, cause i primarily work interactive theater haunts which give a lot more freedom with scares a lot of the time! i hope you get to work one at some point, half the fun is really just enjoying being scary and committing to the bit!!! i've genuinely met some of the kindest people working haunts (which is another thing you totally nail with moon and the other nighttime animatronics!! i've seen the same guys make grown men almost cry and then turn around and drop character to get someone who was having an anxiety attack out of the attraction to give them space to breathe; it's incredibly endearing!)

Well, he already did a song as Shinnosuke- Spinning Wheel, the theme for his final form, Type Tridoron. Albeit he had to share it with Yu Inaba (Gou) and Taiko Katoono (Chase), since it was also a love song dedicated to Kiriko (Gou's love being platonic/brotherly, of course).

I wouldn't mind them releasing a 10 Years Later version though XD Preferably one where Chase is back for good and all of Gou's lines are directed toward Chase lmao. And we def need a MV for it too

done with ep1 s2, and here comes the realization creeping in once again. it's about haru and the fact that he's actually a comedian LOL, our haru who is often described as "emotionless, stoic, quiet," but as per my final verdict, i'd say he's A LOT MORE than that.

to me, haru is funny and childlike. he has this sort of childish amusement glowing in his eyes spotting cute things around him. haha yeah, sure, he might fail at showing emotions, but the way he's genuinely moved by school mascots and other stuffed animals is quite adorable imo.

seeing iwatobi-chan on the projector screen and suddenly ignoring his teammates, & gou, who was already shaking him and telling him, "you're easily entertained" i think that part was awesome :)) haru is such a wonder boy. and dont even get me started with his stripping tendencies upon bumping into anything that's remotely pool-like… like some random aquarium at the mall, or a kiddie balloon pool 🤭 he's so YOUTHFUL & such an enjoyable character to make such comedy gold scenes with. his storytelling of falling in love with a waterfall takes the cake too

even just haru dreaming of becoming a "half-fish-man" is already A+ ridiculous xD can this guy be any funnier lmao. i also admire him for always being "game" w/ anything even if it's smth people wouldn't expect him to do, just for the heck of it

again, the funniest shit i saw on free! (that gave me so much 2nd hand embarrassment btw) was this thing right here. im sure makoto would agree with me, baby boy was so RED on his face and ears by the time they were done. but haru? well, he was proud of what he did on stage :)

after that scene, we were next presented by haru's disappointed face, gripping on the fence, bc how DARE those ppl not join their swimming club when he performed so confidently and amazingly on stage :) HOW DARE. THE AUDACITY. haru is always serious abt all their shenanigans

haru was serious abt the sumo [mascot] fight he promptly attended with makoto IN COLLEGE too. IN COLLEGE. he truly, honestly believed makoto/iwatobi chan would win too. AGAIN, IN COLLEGE. haru is still the same adorable bean in college. how can u not love this boy

Saw a comment on serebii which said that goh has a good character but bad goal development and I was like yes??? Like I love his character, he's a breath of fresh air as a character to me honestly, I don't remember having such a pessimistic person as a companion before, but his goal is going nowhere and one of my loves Gary is being horribly misused? I feel like if you the viewer take the time to pick and search through all the goh episodes you can find pretty solid character development from him being selfish to understanding other's feelings (which the viewer shouldn't have to do) but his goal? His direction? A victim of bad pacing. And project Mew is so vague and the episodes so far between that like you said, goh shines best when playing off of other characters like Ash or Horace or Chloe.

I recently watched the Drizzle episode and really liked the message when he told Drizzle to take its time to figure out itself, that was a good episode since he actually showed some growth and it had nothing to do with his goal but rather his bond with Drizzle. But the project Mew episodes? I'm only interested in project Mew because I wanna see if that sus professor is a bad guy and I want to hear Hiroshi kamiya's voice.

He has had reasonable character development which I really like and a great personality but his goal is so stagnant and repetitive and poorly paced that any episode with it now bores me because I'm so lost?? I prefer scenes of him and Ash goofing off and him cheering Ash on or taking care of his pokemon than catching pokemon, and that's clearly not good writing if noone wants to see your protagonist advance in his journey because what journey lol.

I was waiting for you to open asks, I must admit, because I feel we have more or less the same views on the subject. I think.

That's really all I can add akjfgsf. Agreed. I'm glad I'm not alone on this weird "don't hate Gou unless he's the focus" mess. Makes me feel better.

One thing that's been better lately is that he's not catching 'mon left and right. Then again, that IS his goal sooooooooooo. XD

Yay! There was finally a Tonbokiri & Kuwana-kun duet~!!! Father-son duet get~!! They sang 'Timeline' during the afternoon performance in Chiba on 16 June 2022.

My friend showed it to me today, though she ended up having to buy all three Chiba streams to find the one with the Tonbo-Kuwa duet... orz

We saw people on Twitter talking about the duet but they didn't say during which performance, so we assumed it would be in all the Chiba performances like how Tonbo's 'Blackout' solo was in all the Osaka performances but... turns out 'Timeline' was sung by different pairings in all three Chiba performances! orz

Tonbo and Kuwa's 'Timeline' is love though~! I love the way Kuwa looks up at the Tonbokiri-sama he so admires in the beginning. He also sounded a little nervous at the start which could be IC! XD (Though his actor was probably just nervous to be singing with Spi, who is basically recognized by his peers as one of the best singers~ :3) The lyrics are kind of sad though... about two people who just miss each other due to being in different timelines.

I saw someone mention that Tonbo and Kuwa weren't actually in the Honda household at the same time. (Though also seen others mention that they were.) I guess there's a possibility that they weren't as Tonbo was supposed to have been passed down to Tadakatsu's second son (who was supposedly the favourite but unfortunately died young on the battlefield), while Kuwa belonged to Tadakatsu's eldest son and heir, Tadamasa. Tadamasa is said to have found Kuwa on a farm shrine while out falconing one day. Kuwa was an unknown sword that Tadamasa suspected might be a lost Gou since Gou no Yoshihiro's signature was on its tang, but there were also a lot of fake Gou swords going around. So, he had the sword authenticated by a highly respected sword authenticator who confirmed that the sword he'd found was indeed a real Gou! Tadamasa then named the Gou he'd found Kuwana after the domain he'd inherited from Tadakatsu and signed his name in gold on the other side of Kuwana's tang.

Real Gou swords are supposed to be extremely rare since their smith died young, and this led to the saying 'you can never see a ghost or a Gou'.

Anyway, if we go with Tonbo and Kuwa not being in the Honda household at the same time, 'Timeline' makes a lot of sense~! And their timelines now finally overlap in Honmaru thanks to the Saniwa~!!

AU Ash and Gou are so cute pls 😭 (no big spoilers in this post dw!) While our regular Ash and Gou are on their regular level of gay, AU Ash discovers his chad bf for the very first time and while it’s teeechnically directed at both Gou and Koharu, he’s quick to fanboy for them. And hold onto him when they fly. (Regular Ash and Gou keep their distance when flying on their Flygon in the ep, a shame smh but next episode is definitely gonna deliver on their relationship anyway, trust me :3c)

Love how it parallels the regular universe couples very good friends, as they fly on regular Gou’s Flygon and Aerodactyl instead lol.

While we’re at it, gotta point out something that the subs very likely won’t include in the translation because... it can’t really be translated. That being the pronouns the characters use.

AU Gou uses oresama, a pronoun that... people that are VERY full of themselves would use lol. It’s considered kinda narcissistic. AU Ash uses boku all the time, which indicates he’s of the more polite and in this case also shy kind. Regular Ash and Gou both use ore, the standard informal pronoun that young boys would use. AU Koharu uses boku, which in an anime/manga context falls into the bokukko archetype; a girl that acts very “boyish” and usually doesn’t care about gender norm expectations for girls or is just kinda unaware of them. Regular Koharu and Dawn use watashi, which is just what you’d hear most girls use (in anime anyway), but generally a polite neutral pronoun. AU Dawn uses watakushi (thanks to @descendant-of-truth for pointing that out, I managed to overhear that xD), which is a very formal, also neutral pronoun that is a bit out of date. But if it’s used, it’s generally in combination with keigo (the most polite way of speaking in Japanese) and AU Dawn does speak like that to everyone, unlike any of the characters above. Because you wouldn’t really talk like that as a ten year old among ten year olds lmao.

Am I the only one who doesn’t get why some (tw) are shitting on Haru and Rin separately just for the fact that they reciprocate each others feelings? Because it’s not the feelings they wanted them to reciprocate? Just curious because I'm new and recently entered the fandom. And since when miscommunication in between means that they don't deserve to be happy at the end? Because you're an idiot when it comes to love, doesn't mean you're a bad person. I came from chinese bl and it's weird to me.

Hehe welcome to the madness, perfect time to join! Yeah, tbh that's the thing in the fandom that always bugged me the most. The fact that some act like if you don't reciprocate someone's feelings, it makes you a bad person. I always found it incredibly cringy when ppl in real life for example make ppl feel guilty for not feeling the same way and make you feel like shit bc of it. I don't get why you have to apologize for that or feel bad, if you never ever gave him any hope or anything in the first place.

Nowdays it's thankfully a rare sight already in this fandom, bc most already grown and see perfectly what's truly healthy and unhealthy, it's just tbh only the same 3 accounts ppl keep sending me that are still on that, who also think that Haru is literally possessed in the last movie so I don't see the point of like arguing with ppl like this. It's just they're always getting extremely angry when Haru wants Rin as if it's his fault that he feels this way and always go about it like he is inconsiderate of Makoto's feelings. Implying that they're mad that he doesn't feel that way about Makoto, while Makoto does. I'm same as @tododeku-or-bust for example said here (idk what fandom brought this on, but just in general) also do not get what's appealing about this kind of relationships in the first place.

If they shipped it in terms of like it's mutual I'd get it, but they go on about how Rin or Haru are bad friends bc they're not in love with their best friends... like ?????? I didn't know you owe it to your friends to have romantic feelings for them.

In real life if you found out that your bestie feels that way for you while you don't reciprocate, it's a burden, that'll make you feel uncomfortable and at times guilty when you shouldn't technically feel that way. So putting on someone a burden of "I was pining for you all along", when you know they don't feel the same is giving me this feeling of cringe. So I personally do not get what's enjoyable at seeing it like that in Free. But to each their own kink lmao.

It's like... is Haru at fault for the fact that he was Ikuya's first love too? I do not get it really. Like he doesn't have to take responsibility for everyone who falls for him and he doesn't owe anyone to reciprocate their feelings. Even to Rin. Like if he didn't feel the same way for Rin, it wouldn't be his fault either. But since he does feel the same way for him, it's like... good, great, happy for them.

Like once again if someone believes that Makoto and Sousuke are unrequitedly in love with Rin and Haru, that's not rinharu fault. Haru literally never ever lead Makoto on EVER. He never ever did anything that would make Makoto believe that they're more than friends. He was always honest about everything. Like when Makoto thought that he went out to see him, but Haru just wanted to see the sunrise, he told him just that. He never encoraged anything, he refused to live with him and never wanted. I do not get why it's supposed to be his fault that he doesn't like his friend in that way. If Makoto has some unrequited feelings for him and decided to hang up on this, it's his own life choice in my opinion.

It's like saying that Onodera and Takano for example don't deserve to be together just because they unintentionally hurt each other and got separated for 10 years bc of misunderstanding. This argument is like typical Yokozawa life position aka "but I was there when he left you heartbroken for several years, that means you MUST pick me". As I've said before, that's just not how it fucking works. And just bc they couldn't explain things to each other normally, doesn't mean that they don't deserve be happy now. Being idiots is not a crime.

Or if you came from chinese bl, lets go "Guardian" for example. Zhu Hong also was on about how "why you love Shen Wei, not me, I always did everything for you and I was always there, I even wore heels bc you once said you liked those etc". Like he never asked her to do this, he never gave her any hope, he was beyond rude and open about the fact that he's not interested, he never did anything to make her think she had a chance since the beginning. Just bc she decided to dedicate her life to false hope that maybe one day something might change is not his fault. It was her choice. Why Yunlan should feel like shit bc of that I do not get personally.

I'm just buffled bc like Haru for example is the most caring about other ppl's pain person, but they call him selfish and rude bc of the way he is with Makoto at times, not even realising that it IS in fact what means being kind sometimes.. to not give someone a chance when you know you don't feel it. I was always saying this like since forever, being kind doesn't mean for example giving everyone second chances, loving everyone, wanting to be friends with anyone etc. In some situations it's not being kind, it's being stupid or even not being a good person. Once again... offering someone friendship after he openly dissed your friend and you see that he's not in any position to talk back is not kind. Or if someone cheats on you constantly, but you always forgive them it's also not you being kind. It's you being stupid. Sometimes you have to be harsh. It's for the greater good.

And like I saw several times stuff like someone under scenes where Rin has his eyes for Haru only, commenting like "oh great, look at Rin being inconsiderate of Sousuke's feelings again. Can't believe you guys find this romantic." I mean, if in their opinion Sousuke is in pain from being Rin's friend, he can end it, it's his choice. It's not Rin's fault that he thinks of him as just his friend. So thinking that Rin is an asshole bc each time he simply hangs out with Sousuke he's a selfish bitch is fucking insane. I'd feel extremely bad if my best friend was seeing it this way for example. It's like hella ugly.

This annoys me also bc of the fact that Rin, the person who at the age of 12 single-handedly saved his family from falling apart after his father's death, who's an amazing friend to Sousuke and did everything to make his happy after he found out about his trauma and always checks on him first and cries about his shoulder, who in the late evenings taught Rei to swim, when everyone else gave up already xD, who was looking after Nitori during his training, who pretends to walk the same road, just because he's scared to let Gou return alone in the evenings, the most amazing son and brother, is suddenly an asshole just because Haru is in love with him, but not with Makoto. I mean, thats just... huh? Like I dont mind you ship what you want to ship, it's like to each their own crayons for real. But like dissing them and call them selfish just bc they only see their friends as friends and don't want anything more is weird to me.

As for the fact that bc of the misunderstanding they don't deserve to be happy, that's just idiotic. I mean, lets punish Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan too just bc Lan Zhan couldn't voice his real feelings back then and bc WWX misunderstood him. Lets ship WWX with Wen Ning instead. Nezumi is cancelled, he doesn't deserve to be with Shion. He left him. Takano should stay with Yokozawa, Onodera is trash. Wu Xie is trash for wanting to be with Zhang Qiling too. It doesn't matter why he leaves, it only matters that he always does. I can't believe he doesn't see that Pangzi is there with him all along xD. What an ungrateful trash of a human being I can't even.

And anyways btw both Rin and Haru are not ideal human beings in any way (otherwise I wouldn't love them this much tbh xD). But their flaws are definitely not what for example mh shippers usually blame them for. You can argue about their other imperfections easily. Like being stupidly stubborn for example. I won't point fingers here, Haru lolz. Or literally anything else.

My point is you can find what to trash them for logically, if you wanna. Do it smartly tho. Otherwise you make your ship look bad.

And I once again say what wise person said about his relationships and about the fact that not being able with someone he loves hurt him and 'why is he doing this to himself' he answered: "it's not on him. my happiness and my pain is for me to handle". Everyone decides for themselves. This is why for example Haru was so broken about voicing this to Rin and didn't have any intentions to tell him that in the first place. Bc it's not right, if you're not sure that it's requited. Technically he has no right to blame Rin for making him fall in love with him and then leaving in the first place. It's not Rin's fault really, that he made him feel what he feels for him, it's ultimately Haru's problem. That's why he feels has no right to blame him in the first place. I mean, he doesn't know that Rin feels the same, that means saying to him "you break my heart each time you leave" and making him feel bad about it is technically wrong. That's why Haru to himself said "no, please, don't say such things to him". Everyone for himself decides who deserves your 5, 7, 800 or 10000 years of your pain. It's your decision. It's your life. If Haru feels like Rin is worth it, then you have no say in that matter really. The only reason we call Rin an idiot or Haru an idiot is because we know they feel the same, so we can. But blame someone else for not feeling what you're feeling is not right.

So like even if you feel like Makoto and Sousuke have feelings for their friends, blaming Haru and Rin for having feelings for each other and not for them is beyond weird. And there's nothing wrong with putting someone you love first, every bro/sis gets it. You can say bros before hoes all you want, but like Lan Zhan might just drop his bro for his hoe, if he was given a choice. Would it make him a bad person? The fact that Wu Xie chose to save Xiaoge before Pangzi makes his a bad person? My point is it's not all that easy.

I just feel like many ppl in this fandom are very weird about many things. Either because they do not get what it's like to go through some things or maybe they just do not get that no matter how cheesy this sounds love is not that simple. I mean, for example not all selfish is bad, sometimes like in Haru's case for example not being selfish is also bad. Bc if he finally asks for what he wants, he will make both himself AND Rin happy.

To be angry at Rin bc of the aftermath of his father's death and s1 I never had it in me, after knowing everything and how adults handled it. If some of Sousuke's fans bc of Yakusoku and the fact that Rin found his salvation in Haru bc he helped him to move forward after getting his family out of this hell alone and that Haru was the safe haven that made him happy in this moment of his life, want to trash Rin for the fact that he "neglected" Sousuke, its like your opinion. I personally do not get it. Rin doesn't owe Sousuke anything. It's not his fault again that Haru's existence helped him to feel better.

Just like not everyone will get why Haru in 1x12 was so happy about the fact that he could help Rin. To be that special somebody for someone who can "save" you in moments of your life like this, especially if you love them is an incredible feeling. And no, your bestie isn't always the person for this job, no. I don't see why people do not get that I guess, that's all. But we all have our own opinion on everything, so...

We same as you do not get it since forever, but its like it is what it is in this fandom. I personally just have another life position on stuff, so I'm very far from that point of view they have.

Thoughts on Sotsu Episodes 1-5

Lack of motivation to write aside, I genuinely don’t have much to say about Sotsu so far! So here’s a collection of scattered fragments on the first two arcs.

First: these are by far the most straightforward Answer Arcs in the entire WTC series, aren’t they? I was initially wondering if we might be doing the set up from original Higurashi, with similar events but different Fragments - but no, we don’t even have that conceit. We’re showing the exact Fragments as in the -damashi arcs, just from different points of view. With Satoko even spelling out her trick afterwards!

The overall result is that Oniakashi and Wataakashi still feel like Higurashi being set to “easy mode” to cater to newcomers. Even after that ship long since sailed.

Meanwhile, the actually optimal way to experience Higurashi SotsuGou really does seem to be having watched the original Higurashi anime many years ago. My younger brother is in that category - so what feels like repetition for superfans like me ends up being a nice refresher on the characters and their circumstances for him.

New OP/ED!

-Gou’s OP might still be my favorite (not having a random clothing damage Hanyuu helps…), but Sotsu’s is a close second! And I suspect the song will only grow on me as the season continues.

-I think the part of the OP that surprised me most was the sheer amount of St Lucia-age Satoko and Rika in this one. So far, it seems like Sotsu’s Answer Arcs are going to be exact perspective swaps on the corresponding Question Arcs, which won’t leave much time for St. Lucia shenanigans. Perhaps a hint that we’ll be returning to that original Matsuribayashi Fragment?

-And yes, @tarhalindur, you were not wrong that I would be all about those OP/ED visuals! As so many people have noted, the laser light battle in the Sea of Fragments is extremely Umineko-like. Even specifically Lambda and Bern-like. Regardless on how the actual SatoRika relationship shakes out, I think we’re still fully on track for witch origin stories!

(Though leaning too far into the Umineko witches makes those shots really hard to take seriously, haha! Please imagine Rika and Satoko screaming “I LOVE YOU” at the top of their lungs there, and that’s it, that’s Lambda and Bern’s dynamic in a nutshell. XD)

-As for that one shot of Satoko and Rika nearly kissing… well… that’s what my other post is going to be about.

-I actually don’t have much to say on the ED, beyond it being as incredibly beautiful as the last two. (Gosh, I really need to get high resolution screencaps of it to use as desktop backgrounds!)

Symbolically and tonally, it’s oddly hopeful and reconciliatory for this point in the story. (That handholding image in the Sea of Fragments at the end...!) In the episodes themselves, all we see is Satoko going about her plan with villainous glee (and so much for my theories that she was barely keeping her side together). But between the OP and especially this regretful ED, I still find myself believing Satoko and Rika will eventually work things out.

Oniakashi

-I thought Oniakashi was a surprisingly efficient and well told version of Rena’s backstory. I can’t remember how it was done in the OG Higurashi anime, but compared to the VN, this is a very efficient condensation of her backstory. We got exactly what we needed to know, presented in a decently affecting manner, and without over-belaboring the point.

-I always disliked that Rina was characterized as so one-note evil given her profession. It felt stereotypical in a bad way. So I was quite happy to see Rina got some tiny bit of depth to her, she honestly needed it even more than Teppei.

-There were also some neat bits and bobs of symbolism and atmosphere building scattered throughout these episodes. That quick shot of Satoko with looper-eyes in her reflection in the classroom, for example.

(Seeing the witch version of yourself in a reflection… does that happen in the Umineko manga? I know it’s a very very common subject for fanart, but I don’t recall it occurring in actual canon before. Which is to say: goodness I love all the fanart in this mode, so I was very happy to see that visual come up in the actual series.)

Another neat detail - the symbolism of Rena’s cotton puff sinking during the Watanagashi festival. Was it on-the-nose? Sure. But it’s lingering on tiny things like that which really help to set the atmosphere, something Gou really struggled to do. So all-in-all, I think I’d actually consider Sotsu off to a stronger start than Gou in its presentation.

-After building up "how does Satoko inject people without arousing suspicion?” as an obstacle in my head so long, the explanation that Rena was just asleep felt rather underwhelming. (And come on, we don’t even get to see it in Wataakashi? Sheesh...)

-All the digital ink spilled on theories where part of Keiichi and Rena’s fight was a hallucination… well, so much for that. Pity, that was the one thing that could have really elevated the end of Onidamashi in my opinion.

-That being said, as much as I’m unhappy with the “solution” to Rena and Keiichi’s fight, juxtaposing it with Rika’s happy cheering was about the best way that material could have been presented. (The pitch black comedy continues to be on point, lol.) Plus, whiplashing from that to Rika learning about it at school makes it clear why she despaired enough to resort to suicide.

And the suicide itself… well, that scene sure made it obvious that Satoko is a lot more practiced at manually jumping Fragments! Heh.

(Though much like the infamous USO DA, Rika Stabby Fun Times is another scene where I think the original anime sold the horror better.)

Wataakashi

Satoko and Eua being able to snoop on Rika and Hanyuu’s conversations in the Sea of Fragments is very intriguing. That means Satoko probably knows about the Onigari too.

But does this detail (and Eua’s badmouthing of Hanyuu) make it more or less likely that Eua is Hanyuu in some form? Man, I don’t even know at this point…

-At least Satoko’s adventures in firearm acquisition was a taste of the completely absurd time looper thunderdome tactics I was hoping for. Rika really needs to up her game!

To some extent, Satoko’s strategy here also feels like a commentary on fans asking silly questions like “why didn’t Rika get a gun?” Ditto regarding her curiosity about what an L5 Mion would be like. She truly is becoming more witch-like - in that she’s now a dark mirror of the audience’s most morbid interests, just like the role played by Bernkastel, Featherine, and of course, Lambdadelta.

Oh, and don’t think I didn’t catch those horse names being another extremely oblique LambdaBern reference. Satoko placed her bets on Wanyan beating Cheshire Cat, you say~?

(Wanyans/Meowoofs are also a Ciconia thing, though they’re first mentioned as a pet Lambda has in Umineko’s epilogue.)

-As for Satoko and Teppei, I’m still okay so far with how Teppei’s change of heart is being handled. I actually kind of like that even this “better” side of him is still clearly a pathetic loser who has no business taking care of a kid. And Satoko is warily tolerating his presence on her own terms, with no actual intention of forgiving or trusting him. She controls the situation!

-So much for Shion escaping St. Lucia getting brought up in Wataakashi, huh. Or Shion and Mion’s backstory at all, for that matter. A disappointing choice, after I thought Oniakashi did decently well with Rena’s backstory.

-In general Wataakashi seems to be getting hit the hardest with pacing woes, as well as taking the least unique route to Mion going L5. Lots of it seems like an attempt to parallel Shion’s obsession with Satoshi / Shion realizing she did something horrible but it was too late from Meakashi, to questionable effect.

If anything, the thing I found most interesting was that Satoko was the one opting to push the jealousy angle! Usually she’s quite naïve when it comes to romance. But now... projecting much, girl? :P

-Finally, I can’t help but continue comparing these -damashi/akashi arcs to the twists in the original arcs, and that comparison still does not do the new arcs any favors. Because Onikakushi and Watanagashi had some really good twists to their solutions! In contrast, these new arcs are an exercise in “what if the early suspicions you had about Rena being murderous and Mion being a yandere were actually RIGHT?” It’s Onikakushi and Watanagashi played completely straight, and I think those arcs lose a lot of their brilliance as a result.

It also makes me very, very nervous for how Tatariakashi will be handled...

But we’ll get there when we get there, I suppose. No sense worrying about that now, when we’ve got Mion’s bloodbath to cover next episode!

I'm like, sick or something.

I was trying to finally complete the puzzle I've had on my kitchen table since after Christmas, but even that was starting to get hard with all the muscle aches/weakness and dizziness, so I decided to watch something on the Television.

Nothing decent was really on so I went to Netflix, long story short, I finally decided to try Pokemon Journeys, because I'd been curious since it was first announced. I'm only started Episode 4 as I type.

Like, I'm an adult, so I get I'm not the demographic, but sometimes I wish I knew what the production team's goal was for these kids. I'm still leagues more used to early gens ash, with his old VA, and I still admittedly like that personality the most, but I remember watching some of the newer seasons, like... Black and White? I tad bit of Sun and Moon anime...

I guess the one thing I can say, even though he's super hyperactive now, I still prefer that over the "too mature" seasoned personality he had for a while. I do like that the kids act like kids, but for me, Ash was never -this- wired. I do like that Ash's super human energy is in tact though, and I've enjoyed when they do focus on the finer details, like how Gou is definitely too much of a geek to be as able bodied as Ash. XD Or how they've begun to build his character, he's a lot like those kids that advance mentally sooner than his peers. Chloe is a lot like that too, but I feel also is the "every kid" in a normal Japanese setting. Going to school, like a normal kid, taking care of the plants at the school. That subtle bit of normalcy, I appreciate in this show.

While I'm talking about subtleties, can I just briefly mention how much Mr. Mime brings to the table?

Nothing!

And I mean that in the most literal way possible. Every time he pops up on screen, he completely steals the show. I die laughing because he's always literally mimeing. It really brings me back to why I loved him so much in the Detective Pikachu movie.

I don't know this guy yet, Professor Ren, but I can already tell he is my spirit animal from this show.

Episode 4 Thoughts: that differently colored scorbunny is giving me even more Hare vibes than scorbunny already did. XD

In the previous episode Gou, had red strands of hair, so like... are those... not hair clips? Its' actually just a red shine?

Episode 9 Thoughts: Oh my god, not only is this episode about my favorite legendary, Ho-oh, but this is like... Kid Kentin!

Episode 11 Thoughts: I'm glad I kept watching, by now I'm really enjoying the show actually and this episode in particular really speaks to me. Don't get me wrong, I love the usual type of episode too, but I always really love seeing what normal daily life is like with pokemon. I actually really do like Chloe so far and the way they've kept her kind of mysterious all this time really raised my interest in her character, I just think it's interesting how she lives a normal life, but has her one pokemon pet/companion. She enjoys gardening, it seems. There's more to her character than enthusiasm for the main point of the series. Also, I just.... LOVE HER PARENTS. T ^T ♡♡♡

Aww... poor Gou is feeling left out. I wonder if this scene was meant to be as a foreshadow that Gou will catch a Pikachu who loves feeding others XD. Lol but on a serious note we can see how Gou is craving the caring relationship he sees between ash and Pikachu and between sobble and rabbifoot. He obviously can't have the same sort of relationship with raboot as ash has with his Pikachu no matter how much they care for each other (I love the tsundere bunny XD) So when Gou wants a pokemon with whom he can have the same relationship as ash has with his pokemon, who better than the person himself! Gou admires ash and he feels that to have such a close friendship, he'd need a Pikachu. I mean out of all the pokemon his impulsive decision is to choose to get a Pikachu! (It's a good thing that Gou got exactly the kind of Pikachu (or raichu for that matter) he must have imagined having one like! ) And that's my headcanon for this scene anyways

Bonus~

Look at our mumma Gou go XD seriously the guy is the last to reach the top in the second scene with some obvious struggle (or just slow) but he makes the whole back and forth trip within record time (possibly even lesser time than in what he managed to climb!) Gotta love a Gou with his 'protect child' mode on XD

Kiriko: I agree, Gou was really stressed when we did the Disney prince and princess as joint releases.

Neon: I think we can have either Kisaragi-sensei or Kamiyama-sensei as the Sun Wukong from that RWBY show from the west.

Neon: Sakuta-san as Zuko from that Avartar show.,

Miu: The Last air bender?? If I remember right, that did not make it here to Japan.

Hina: We did some Disney characters that never made it to Japan.

Kiriko: We shouldn't do Avatar, the reason it was banned here was because of the Fire Nation.

Hina: Fair point.

Hina: Although, if we're doing cosplay, why don't we have Ace-kun and Keiwa-kun and yourself dressed as Naruto characters.

Neon: who would I be?

Neon: No, I don't want to be that girl with a cat monster.

Miu; We can hash out the details later, so have you heard from Kirishima-san?

Lol, Touma would definitely be into the cosplaying. Heck, he wouldn't even be opposed to being put in drag, considering he imagined himself as the Orihime to Kento's Hikoboshi in the Saber/Zenkaiger crossover. Kento would happily going along with the cosplay too... maybe not the drag, though XD

Also, maybe they can offer some ideas for what characters can cosplay? Surely the book-loving author would have some ideas. Apparently cosplay is a common occurrence at the bookstore... (Kento would, however, vehemently veto anything involving a story with a certain spiky rodent. Even if he's not the one cosplaying the spiky rodent in question.)

Poor Gou, he has his work cut out for him... he's not even that kind of photographer- his work in mainly nature photography, and that's what he won awards for per the epilogue of Drive. But he'd rather be behind the camera instead of in front of it, lol
