Handwriting Headcanons

Same dynamic as before, try to guess whose handwriting it is before reading and tell me how many you got right! <3

Quick disclaimer: halfway through making my initial notes, I remembered I had one (1) single lesson of graphology in my applied linguistics class, but that was a year ago and some information might be off. I just thought it was neat to include.

Another quick disclaimer: I don’t know much about Hylian, but I like to think it has a similar stroke system to Japanese, so the pressure and accuracy of your strokes play a major role in your handwriting (among other things, ofc.) so there are some parts where I focus more on that

Sky

Our first boy is mother hen! Believe it or not, he has the prettiest handwriting out of all of them! Sky: probably has nice, even elegant handwriting because Sun forced him to practice when they were little. In the end, that paid off because his handwriting is the prettiest one. There’s no pressure, but he is confident in what he writes that his lines aren’t thin. Mistakes? what is that? this boy has impeccable grammar and spelling. No mechanic errors to be found in his letters! I’d like to think that many of Hyrule’s classic/staple poems were originally written by the firt king aka sky child. Like, imagine, after a retiring from being a Person of Power (as the first ruler), Sky finds comfort in the arts: revisits his old woodcarvings and starts writing poetry about the world he still doesn’t fully understand. wowie. tldr: sky writes poetry and you can pry it from my cold dead hands.

2. Time

I’ll die on the “Time didn’t know how to read and write” hill. His handwriting is simple, not pretty but not messy. It has some grammar and spelling mistakes here and there. Can become unreadable if writing in a hurry, he sorts of forgets spaces between words are a thing/letters have different sizes and lowercase letters end up the same size as capital letters. I’m not saying he sometimes forgets to write articles: he just doesn’t want to. Honestly, he just has this dad-neat handwriting. He is a gentle dad and writes like a dad, if he puts too much pressure onto the paper, his handwriting become too sharp/angle-ish and ends up looking ugly. And as much as he would like to not care about it, in the end he does (:

Malon taught him how to write and it was quite the experience. At first he didn’t want to because he was ‘too old’ to learn and it was torture at first, but now look at him devouring his cowboy novels.

3. my mansss, your 4x1 deal at Target: Four

Look, my boy is patient! He could do some nice and fancy lettering if he wanted to. He was taught that handwriting and spelling said a whole lot about him as a person, you know, like a first impression kinda thing; so he always proof reads more than twice before sending a letter. Super rare grammar mistakes.

The faster he writes, the more slant his writing becomes. Under stress/ when not sure how to write things down, run-on sentences are everywhere and his handwriting is inconsistent in general (I don’t headcanon each part of him having completely different handwriting because handwriting becomes muscle memory over time. It’s just slightly different variations of the same, like idk Vio’s handwriting is neater than Green’s and Red writes hearts instead of any dot/circle and no, I do not take constructive criticism on that, jk i do.) Adding on to each of the colours’ handwriting, I’d think Red and Green write with words slanted to the right( inclined), Vio is a mix of the opposite, so reclined and straight, and my mans blue a true neutral writes straight (kinda like Time’s).

The logic behind this is that inclined writing supposedly means honesty and need for giving (and getting) affection; reclined means, as you can probably imagine, defensiveness and repression of true feelings, but also shows great concentration; straight handwriting means self-control, observation and reflection as well as distrust and indifference. But as complete being (tm), Four just writes as in the image example which is not too straight and not too inclined, and I believe that’s a good middle for him

HOWEVER, if I’m feeling in the mood for crack, I totally accept this boy to have the ugliest, chicken scratches-looking handwriting! :’D It’s just funny to think that someone like him, who has to be precise and careful in his work, can't write neatly to save his life.

4.- Mister Bunny Boy - Legend

His uncle taught him how to write. I’d call his handwriting pretty and neat at a first glance, but he presses too hard on the paper, most of the time staining the back or the following page. Sometimes will retrace some words if he doesn’t like how it looks (which only makes it messier). According to my notes, a thick or strong handwriting represents determination/commitment.

As I also headcanon him to know many languages, mechanical errors are more present than grammar ones; that is, weird capitalisation of words. Punctuation is somewhere in between; uses too many commas when he should just cut the sentence. he mixes punctuation from two languages or more in writing when too distracted (or too focused, because, well, pressure.); when he writes for himself, he has almost no problem following said language’s punctuation rules. Also, this is just polyglot culture, and I’m projecting a bit, but when he forgets a word in the language he’s writing, he just replaces it with its equivalent in another language because we don’t care about fluency, but rather functionality. in this household (more on that in my language hc, ksksks).

4.- Mr. Wolfman, howl me a song - Twilight

I don’t have much for him because 1) I don’t think he writes a lot and 2) he is a hands-on/visual learner, I’ll die by that. He only learnt how to write because Ulli insisted it was important and he was not about to disrespect his momma; he IS That Guy, but doesn’t really write enough to have neat handwriting.

Many people seem to overlook the fact that his house is filled with books and write him as completely illiterate (which if not explored properly, ends up feeling a bit disrespectful and full of prejudice, but go off I guess; and that’s on my core Headcanons for Twi); however, he sticks to simple sentences. Knowing how to read and understanding a text is different from knowing how to write them. Like, when we would see a semicolon and understand its position in the text, but didn’t understand the nature of it. Is this clear? idk i’m sorry. So yeah, boy reads a lot, writes very little.

As for his Actual Handwriting, as opposed to Legend, his handwriting is thiccc but not because he presses into the paper; he is just that messy, he has no sense of ink-flow-control, he does what he can with what he has. To the untrained eye, his handwriting illegible letters like v, n, u are very similar; when he makes notes for himself he does it in the form of doodles or small ‘icons’. But! He reads a lot, so he rarely makes spelling mistakes (: he is your go-to guy when you don’t know how to write a word.

3. My first born- Warrior

Okay, first off... I accept this is completely biased. I saw the idea and said “That’s True”. If you haven’t, please read Effective Communication; or The Lack of Thereof by htruona, a fic where the boys reflect on the language barriers between them. It’s incredibly funny and probably what made me start making these silly notes. So, if you’ve read that fic, you know where I’m going.

My man, Warrior, can’t fucking write. I mean, he physically can, but it’s very bad. Here’s the reason for it, tho, and it’s not his fault: Technically, he knew how to write alright but he joined the military and whatever note he had to write had to be concise or in the worst case coded. He mixes capital and lowercase letters. If we consider that he joined the military at around 15, his handwriting and grammar had yet to continue developing. Just think about how after summer break, your handwriting was always slightly worse than before because you didn’t write for an entire month. Now think what 2 years can do to that. Hmm, not cool, dude. He makes quick notes, when writing he’s all gotta go fast. he is the lighting mcqueen of writing; good for emergency messages, not ideal for love letters. His punctuation also suffered a lot, he only know full stops and commas and hardly uses them. A sentence for him is either one word or fifty without a single comma, no inbetween.

7.- Magic man - Hyrule

I’m basic and I do agree with the popular headcanon of he not knowing how to write because well, y’all know his Hyrule. He only knows how to write his name because that’s important, same with numbers. I don’t see why would he write/read except checking the roadsigns. (he can even use this as an excuse for getting lost frequently; he thought it said something different.) But I do think that because his habitual reading consists of roadsigns, his ‘punctuation’ is weird af and places full stops/points/periods at the same level of his words and his commas/question/exclamation marks below them. Yk, creative license. Sadly, I don’t have much about my magic hands man so here’s what his writing would look like if he actually wrote a paragraph:

8.- Man, I don’t understand this boy - Wild

Cursive? ain’t nobody have the time for that. He woke up and had to save the world in his underwear while not knowing how to read nor write. He learnt during his journey and was taught by multiple people from different regions, that explains his inconsistent spelling of things and names for them. So Wild knows language variations for many items and uses them interchangeably (even if they aren’t exactly the same). Another headcanon related to writing/language skills that I’ve been thinking about is that if the shrine was able to cause amnesia, I’m sure there were other areas in the brain affected which leads us to language disorders such as agraphia and aphasia. But that’s a story for another day ksksksk

9.- The best of sons - Wind

I don’t have much for him and that makes me sad. Look, he’s a kid, doing kid things like stabbing dudes on the head. This boy was taught cursive by his grandma, but could never do it and no one needs it anyway. His handwriting is good enough for his pirate life, Tetra is the one to handle Official stuff, he just gotta sign. Spelling and grammar mistakes abound. He is still relatively young and can correct his handwriting if he desires. But same as Wild, with how many times he’s been thrown out and hit his head, I’m starting to consider some language disorder for him as well.

Simple, chibi style flat color - $5 (I have found these are perfect for tierlists, and have been using these for both this purpose, and icons! As such, character's names can be added to the bottom!)

Crazy shit - you want crazy shit? We got crazy shit! Things that fall outside of the usual artistic process and will require extra time to render, such as major glitch effects, any larger scale particle effects for magic/ethereal glowing, etc. will add $5 :)

Additions

Adding an additional character to a piece will increase, typically by adding the same value for each character. For example, if you want a full body, flat color of two characters, that will be $90, but if you wanted 3, it would be $135. If, for some reason, you want two chibi icons staring at each other, it would be $10, as opposed to $5 for one :)

Simple backgrounds run for an additional $5, but complex backgrounds will add $10. If you want me to illustrate a room or location behind the characters, we can discuss that! Having a simple color background if free ofc. You can request a transparent version along with any character commissions btw, also free of charge :)

Art Claims Round 2

Second round, same as the first, only better. We got some stories claimed this past week, but we still have about 92 that are up for grabs and need some wonderful artists. In this round, you can definitely take two stories at a time. If you'd like to claim two stories, please wait until you get an email confirming your first claim, then fill out the form again for a second claim. Everybody spread the word! Grab your artist friends, stuff them in a potato sack, and drag them here kicking and screaming if you have to! This year, art claims are working a little differently than in years past. We are using a google form to streamline things, which should make things easier both for you as participants and us mods. To claim a story, the form requires email, check in ID, and the identifying number of your first choice of story. Putting your top three choices is best in case your first or second has already been chosen. Please be sure you've read the FAQ before claiming.

The Paint On Our Skin

Soulmate AU where whatever your soulmate writes on their skin appears on your skin. This applies to makeup, marker, paint, nail polish and I’m also throwing dye into the mix

In this fanfic I follow the headcanon that both Walker and Andi are pansexual, Amber is lesbian, Buffy and Marty are asexual, Jonah is bisexual, and Tyrus is canon king, and bexie ofc. Ambi crush. Gonah and Jandi if you squint hard.

Andi had always adored her soulmate, although she didn't truly know them. Ever since a very young age, her soulmate doodled the most fascinating little drawings all up her arm, which made Andi return the favor happily; although Andi always was more of a craft kind of girl. Some doodles faded while others stayed forever, which Andi comprehended her soulmate must have gotten some of them turned into more permanent tattoos, to the utter horror of her grandmother.

Andi didn't bother with the gender of her soulmate. Everything her soulmate did would give off an aura of intriguing, yet inexplicit, mystery. Her soulmate's doodles were never really gender-specific in any way, however, the presence of makeup across her face and the day her bangs were bleached expressed definite feminity. It made sense to them since Andi always admired their friend Amber in the way that surpassed the lines of platonic feelings, which lasted all the way up until Amber had left for college, where she then found her own soulmate. But if they turned out to be a boy, Andi wouldn't mind either, as she had a fair share of boys she liked too. Boy, girl, something out of the binary, none of it mattered to her. She didn't care who's arms she drew security in, as long as her heart found contentment in them.

"Thinking of your soulmate again Andiman?" Speaking of boys, there was her friend Jonah who smiled at her before sitting down with the company of their other friends: Gus, Cyrus, TJ, Buffy, and Marty.

"Maybe a little," Andi said sheepishly. "I mean, you all found yours already, why can't I too?"

"Don't worry, I'm sure you'll find them soon." Cyrus beamed, holding her hand across the table comfortingly with his free hand, the other locked with TJ's. Cyrus had discovered his soulmate back in middle school when he wrote a reminder on his hand to pick up his order from the bakery and his soulmate met him there. Everybody was ecstatic for the two of them, although Buffy was hesitant at first regarding her teammate and her best friend being soulmates considering she and TJ had such a colorful history. But that was the past and they had since then mended their conflicts; with help of Cyrus' not-so-subtle meddling of course.

"I mean at least you have a significant other." Buffy quirked an eyebrow with a laugh.

"Hey. You love me and you know it, 11.5." Marty cheered as he nudged Buffy's side.

Now Buffy was a rare case. She did indeed have a soulmate, but not in the typical sense. The doodles on her arm all showed up in gold, which she quickly decided was strange and after doing research discovered she was wound in a situation where her soulmate was drawn to her in a purely platonic sense. At first, she was distraught she would never experience love as Cyrus and Andi would, but she couldn't be any happier with Marty. So what if it wasn't romantic attraction, they loved each other just as strong.

"What got you thinking about your soulmate?" TJ questioned with a furrowing of his eyebrows.

"Well, I mean you guys aren't entirely helping the cause," Andi scoffed playfully with a head tilt to how TJ and Cyrus were cuddled up to each other closely. "They made more drawings today. Usually, that makes me happy but today it just made me miss them in some weird sense." Andi felt a pang in her chest. "Guys, am I going to be okay?" She said in a small voice of worry.

The group wore sympathetic smiles as they nodded, Jonah pulling her into a small side hug beside her. Her almond eyes watery as she wore a sad smile in response.

"You may be weird, but you're no different from any other teen our age, Andi." Buffy smiled at her.

"There's nothing wrong with you, absolutely nothing." Cyrus encouraged, squeezing her hand in assurance.

"Can I see it?" Gus shyly asked with care.

Andi wordlessly pulled up her sleeve to reveal a multitude of swirling colors up her arm. The tips of the swirls resembled miniature hearts. The group exhaled in awe as they gently traced the design with their fingertips.

"Okay, that's really nice." Marty chuckled.

"It's beautiful." Buffy breathed.

"They really are an artist," Jonah affirmed.

"Are you going to draw something back again?" Cyrus asked, not taking his eyes from the painted design.

"I want to, but I'm not sure what. I want it to be special this time." Andi admitted.

Cyrus squealed immediately in response. "Do I sense romance in the air?"

"This isn't a Hallmark movie, Underdog." TJ teased fondly. "But that does kinda give me an idea."

"Oh, that's dangerous," Buffy smirked.

"I'm serious, Driscoll." TJ rolled his eyes. "What if we used the art to communicate?"

Andi beamed at the idea, but then immediately inflated. "How did I not think of that? That's really good, TJ."

TJ smirked cockily. "Well, I mean- look at me."

"I don't get it." Jonah cocked his head in question, which made everyone burst into laughter.

"Good one man." Marty gave Jonah a thumbs up, making Jonah scratch his head.

Later that evening, the trio Cyrus had dubbed the 'Good Hair Crew' laid head to head illuminated by the fairy lights string above them. They were still attempting to brainstorm art ideas which would allow Andi to better know her soulmate. It wasn't the scarcity of ideas that delayed the ordeal, but instead Andi's ability to shoot them down.

"What if you drew two swans in the shape of a heart?" Cyrus proposed.

"Too cheesy." Andi scrunched up her nose.

"How about a Cherry Blossom Tree?" Buffy recommended.

"Too basic." Andi shook her head.

"Is your name with a hearted 'i' out of the question?" Cyrus considered.

Andi hummed. "Too simple."

"Okay, what about you as a cartoon, maybe holding a heart?" Buffy suggested.

"Too hard." Andi sighed.

"Are you sure it has to involve a heart?" Cyrus verified.

Andi groaned as she sat up. "I already told you, it's an unspoken rule the last doodle has to resemble the next."

"Sorry." Cyrus shrunk back into himself as he sat up, the curly hair girl beside him following suit. "We might have to reschedule this affair, if I don't get back soon, Sharon might think I was kidnapped and sent off to China."

"Sayonara, Cyrus," Buffy smirked as she made way for him to pass through the small shack. Although Andi quickly took into account Cyrus' clumsiness and the number of paintbrushes on the floor.

"Wait, Cy-"

It was too late. Cyrus had already stepped directly onto a paintbrush and slipped right into a desk of open paint, splattering paint directly onto the three of them. In most situations, Andi would be upset, but one glance at her friends and they were all bursting into infectious laughter, which somehow evolved into a breakout of a huge paint fight.

By the end of it, the trio was sprawled out, covered head-to-toe in tides of paint and laughing breathlessly in between worn out pants for air.

"We look like walking abstract art." Buffy pointed out in laughter.

"I kinda like it. You know what? I'm not washing it off just yet. TJ's gonna hate me." Cyrus giggled, knowing full well he could pour soup into the boy's lap and he would probably apologize to Cyrus.

"Me neither, Marty can deal with being bootleg C-3PO for awhile."

"Then it's settled." Andi grinned.

Andi had lain on her back, forming constellations in the popcorn on her bedroom ceiling in the dark as she tried to drift off to sleep. It hadn't been too late, but waiting for the paint to dry sure did kill some precious sleeping time. It was at this time Andi noticed cursive on her stomach in a pleasant yellow sharpie, the only place desirable place not covered in paint:

Andi audibly gasped as she reached for the nearest sharpie, a nice shade of Persian blue. Andi giggled as she wrote back on her stomach.

She went to cap the marker when a reply from her soulmate came moderately quickly.

I hope you're not kidding because I'm not when I say I will be there -W

Andi squealed as she traced the sentence over and over again. Overwhelmed with glee, she ran to her parents' room.

"MOM! DAD! LOOK!" Andi cheered, lifting her pajama shirt slightly with a radiant smile.

"Oh, Andi! This is amazing!" Her mother, Bex, praised as she read the inscriptions. "I'm so happy for you."

Bowie scratched his head as he asked the question they were all wondering themselves. "’W?’ What could that mean?"

"Bowie, It's probably the kid's name," Bex smirked fondly.

"Or maybe... it means something else."

"I doubt that."

"If it helps any, I don't think I ever would have written them if Cyrus didn't spill my paints everywhere." Andi wondered aloud. Everyone glanced at each other with a glimmer in their eyes.

"The universe!" They all cheered in unison, pulled each other into a laughter-filled hug.

Andi stood in the park that following afternoon. She was starting to wonder if coming to the park in the middle of a school day was the best idea, but nonetheless there she stood, drumming her nervous nails against her side. Her soulmate had the same thought of painting their nails the color of Andi's sharpie color, so her right hand was mustard yellow while her left was the Persian blue she drew in.

Cyrus and Buffy were through the roof when Andi told them about how she and her soulmate were going to have their First Moment together, and as much as they were disappointed they couldn't be there for it, they understood how momentous this was. A First Moment was special. A First Moment was something you told your children. A First Moment was a memory you treasured in your heart up until the day you died. Andi heard her parent's own First Moment so many times she could probably relay the story in her sleep.

Andi looked up from her nails to lock eyes with a young boy standing a bit of distance away. She gasped as she noticed his bleached hair, just like hers, and the flood of painted color all across his skin. It was him, it was her soulmate.

Andi's eyes furiously searched to memorize every last stroke of color in the boy's eyes, brown suddenly never being the same, every shade suddenly bringing her a raw sense of belonging, like a home she felt she always knew.

"Hi." She breathed, her lungs feeling as if they were falling from her body.

"Hey." The boy responded, drawing closer to her. "I'm Walker."

"Andi." She blinked, delicately shaking his hand in greeting as electricity sounded through her fingertips, needing to be closer to him.

He stepped closer to her and her eyes fluttered as she felt his warm, tingling breathes, although it could have easily been the growing blush upon her cheeks. And then, she felt a streak of wet and cold on her cheek.

She gaped as she saw Walker's amused smile before her, paintbrush in hand and a dash of lime green on his cheek, right where she felt the sensation. She quickly grabbed her own brush with a giggle. "I thought we were having a moment there!"

"Who said we weren't?" Walker countered as he leaned back to try and dodge Andi's attack of color.

"You're not wrong." Andi nodded as they continued to dance around each other and laugh as they spread color onto each other.

At one point as Andi tried to run away from Walker after an especially devastating streak of violet down his nose, her foot hooked around Walker's causing her to lose her footing and sink towards the grass. Instinctively, Walker reached out to scoop an arm around the valley of her back and pull her closer to him. "I got you, you're safe."

"I know." Andi melted, feeling like the entire world faded away as she looked up at Walker's face framed by the low sunlight. Every minuscule freckle and scar like the starry night sky and a halo of light around Walker's long eyelashes.

Andi pushed herself closer to Walker, rubbing her nose against his and wrapping her arms around his sturdy neck as she pressed her lips to his.

Walker reached out with his other hand to cup the side of her jaw as he kissed her back with tenderness, yet security. Andi wanted to describe the feeling but the only words she could draw was finally.

Andi smiled against Walkers lips as she felt her heart soar within it's home in her chest, for it knew the joyous news that her soul had found the one she loves, and will forever continue to love. By every new breath in her lungs, she fully understood this would be the love that lasted a lifetime. By just the feeling of Walker's hair within her fingertips, she securely knew her love for him would extend even after the day the sun died out and it would illuminate the heavens across all of space; just like a star after years of its perishing. The feeling of the paint on their skin stood as a constant reminder of that day and the long-awaited eternity she could have only seen before in her wildest of dreams.

20 Questions

@gremla-hemlock and @westywrites have both tagged me back in the 10 Questions game, so I’ve decided to put them into one post and then add 10 new questions back at the end. I’ll tag you both back as well as @ruledbyserenity, @theflowofink and @bookbrd! Ignore this if you don’t want to take part :)

@gremla-hemlock‘s questions:

How many chapters do you expect to have? Are they short chapters that only last a couple pages or large chapters spanning 20+ pages?

In the first draft of Parts 1 - 3 of my series, there are 130 chapters. That’d average each chapter as 2415 words. Some of my chapters are as short as a sentence whereas others are 6/7K words based on whether it’s a backstory or amidst the action.

What is/would be your main character’s favorite type of vehicle to drive? (Go as crazy as you want – tank, helicopter, drone, robot armor)

There aren’t many vehicles in my series! But given the choice (I’m not that crazy haha):

Alex: Train. His family have worked in producing train tracks in the past, so he’d like to test out what they made.

Miriam: Miriam would be all or nothing. She’d either walk or have some crazy over the top tank.

Sebastian: Skateboard. Motorised if he needs to be anywhere soon.

Aiden: Why drive when you're capable of flying?

Noah: Train. Something simple in concept but complex to drive.

Roman: Roman’s late grandfather was a famous airship driver. He’ll be nervous about it, but he’ll try flying it himself later in the series and love it!

Cyrus: He makes his own motorbikes canonically, so I think he’d stick to those.

Which true crime story is your plot most like, even if it’s a stretch?

I have no idea, to be honest! True crime isn’t really my thing haha

Who would be the first in your main characters to punch a Nazi?

Probably Sebastian

If your book were to become a smash hit with a fandom, what word or phrase could you say that would make the masses break into mass hysteria?

Rather than a word or phrase, it would be a name: ROMAN

In cleaning a house or apartment as a punishment, which room would your character(s) least likely want to clean and why? No doubling up rooms.

Alex: Kitchen. He and kitchens aren’t compatible whatever the scenario.

Miriam: The library because she knows she’ll just get distracted.

Sebastian: Hallways. Hallways are just boring, he can’t snoop much there (that’s a lie though, he snoops in a hallway in Book 3).

Aiden: Aiden actually likes cleaning (weirdo). But if he’d have to pick one, it’d be the attic/basement. No particular reason.

Noah: Bathroom. Ew body hair.

Roman: Any bedroom that isn’t his. He never goes into other bedrooms so it’d make him uncomfortable.

Cyrus: Any hobby rooms (shed, study, art room etc.). He’s usually clean but hates having to tidy up his hobby stuff each time he has to take a break.

On a scale of 1-10 how are evil are you to your characters and writing your books?

Alex: He starts pretty low then it shoots up as of Book 3. Like a 3 to an 8/9.

Miriam: 8. One bad thing is sorted out and then another one happens.

Sebastian: 4. Mostly he just sulks because nobody has considered him in issues, although there are only really three major things that affect him. It’d be higher if it wasn’t in comparison to the others.

Aiden: 1. Aiden is put on a pedestal so he gets a good life.

Noah: 4. Aiden is put on a pedestal so he gets a not so good life.

Roman: 8. The same reason as Miriam.

Cyrus: 7. His is mostly emotional, he doesn’t get into so many physical problems unlike Alex, Miriam and Roman, hence the slightly lower score.

Writing: 11 ofc.

In the world of Avatar, which element would your characters be?

Air: Aiden

Water: Roman, Cyrus,

Fire: Miriam, Alex

Earth: Noah, Sebastian

If you have a villain, could the plot progress without them? What would that look like?

A lot of people are ambiguous anti-heroes/anti-villains, but I do have a few villains! Namely Dr A, Luka and the Highest Empress.

In the beginning, it is namely Miriam vs. Alex even though neither of them are really villains. It couldn’t progress without either of them. But I think it could go on without the Highest Empress. She just adds another scale to the guy's villainy and was a late addition anyway.

What would your sequel be about? If you don’t intend to have a sequel but were forced to write one, what would the plot be?

I’m working on a series right now and I’m three parts in. Part 4 involves Miriam going on a tour of the nine Empire’s to establish her political connections between the Grand Master’s since it seems likely that Grand Master Ivanov may not be in his role for much longer.

Alex is on the tour and is dealing with a lot of issues from a revelation made in Book 3.

Choose one character and tell me what flavour of ice cream they’d be. Why?

There is a running gag between Aiden and Miriam about salted caramel ice cream. In Aid’s first appearance, he literally bans her from eating it because she’s salty enough as it is.

What was the plot of the best short story you’ve ever read?

I’m personally not a huge fan of short stories! I love series so much that I tend to wait until they’re finished (if they’re near the end) so I can binge in one go rather than wait.

If you write short stories, what’s the plot of your favourite one you’ve ever written?

Despite what I just said, I actually came in the top 5% for a national short story writing competition once (the only one I’ve entered). It’s prompt was an era in historical fiction that isn’t as well known about. The interwar period qualified, so my work was about Kristallnacht. I originally wrote it for my GCSE English Literature course. The prompt was ‘use a theme presented in Shakespeare’ (so almost write whatever you want to be honest, it was both a great and cruddy prompt), so I used the theme of conflict.

What is the meanest thing you’ve ever done to a character?

A character in my side project goes through Chinese Water Torture.

What was the kindest thing you’ve ever done to a character?

Two characters who are desperate for a child have a surrogate offer to carry a child for them :)

Was writing something you always wanted to do or something you stumbled into?

I started when I was six so I don’t remember not writing to be honest! When I was little, I won just enough writing awards to keep my flitty self motivated to stick at it. When I was in Junior school (7-10), a few school projects that I got praised for were:

- An adventure story. All I remember is the villain was named Candy and that we got to sit outside to write them.

- Webcomic promoting saving water: Wacky Wayne the water drop.

- A rendition of Little Red Riding Hood where Red Riding Hood (Bossy Blue Stomping Hoodie or something like that) was rude af and the grandma injured herself in an international gymnastics tournament.

Do you have any quotes from your own writing that mean a lot to you?

“Tears do not mean fear, they mean you hold your true self dear.” - Noah and Aiden’s mother.

She taught it to them to let them know that boys allowed to cry rather and shouldn’t feel fearful of judgement, but that applies to everyone!

legitimate advice for new phandom blogs

hey !! so i know sometimes posts like ‘RULES FOR THE PHANDOM XD’ are made and they’re all like “numba one. dan is a squishy bean respect this uwu” but this isn’t gonna be like that lol. im just going to list a few actual things that might help people new to the phandom learn about and become integrated into the community! of course these aren’t ‘rules’ and u dont have to listen to any of it ofc,,, im not here to control ur blog, just here to say what people normally do. feel free to rb whether u are a new blog or not, ill appreciate it either way!

(NOTE: PLS TELL ME IF ANY OF THE LINKS DONT WORK AND ILL FIX THEM PERIODICALLY!)

1. be interactive!

here, unique to our corner of timmy darn communism, we have a lot of like virtual traditions that everyone knows. these help you to make friends and also grow ur blog with some new mutuals. here are some examples.

networks: networks, or nets, are a sort of selective gc, usually with a theme or concept that it’s based around, in which all who wish to be part of fill out an application form that determines whether they get in. this is kinda the one with the most work, as u also have to make a group blog and info post, but it’s definitely worth it. i have made my closest friends in nets (such as @phleurnet which i birthed), and a lot of people on here would say the same. if you want to know more or apply, my friend diana runs an update blog @phandomnets! (examples, these are all open btw: x x x)

meetups: meetups are not in real life, don’t worry. a meetup is when someone organizes a specific time at which we all post thing around a certain theme! for instance, on halloween on tuesday, my friend milo hosted a halloween meetup. usually people post selfies but if u are uncomfortable with that, u can post art, music, or anything else related to the theme. a blog called @phandommeetupwatch keeps track of these! (examples, all happening soon/just happened: x x x)

follow forevers: a follow forever is a big celebration post when u reach a follower count milestone, no matter 50 or 5k. u tag all of the blogs you love, and they reblog it to appreciate u! it’s really positive and shows people how their work has paid off. usually people are tagged in alphabetical order, and sometimes people bold their favorites but the stylization is up to u. (recent examples: x x x)

milestone activities: sometimes people do things for their followers when they reach a follower count that involves their followers requesting something! there are many many forms of this type of thing. a common one is blog rates, in which there is a set template and the blogger rates each blog that sends in an ask using the template (info post ex: x; rate ex: x). there are also url edits (x), name/url moodboards (x), and more. u can certainly come up w an idea of ur own, being creative is great!

talk to people: that’s right dude!!! ye!!! u can message a blog u think is cool, or send an ask if u think something they made or are talking about is interesting, or add something sweet in the tags (more on etiquette later) when u rb their post. additionally, sometimes people stir up discourse, and u should participate in it if u want (past discourse examples: x x). u can also send asks when people reblog ask games, which are a list of questions with a theme (new one of mine ex: x).

2. play around with your blog!

customizing your blog can start giving you what we call a branding, making you distinguished from other bloggers. this can include everything from as simple as using an icon to coding your own about page.

themes: a blog can be way more appealing if it is aesthetically pleasing. admittedly, i often follow people just because of the smoothness of their mobile theme. a mobile theme is rather easy to construct as u can do it on ur own with a phone. it is how ur blog looks on a phone. although u don’t have to do this, i recommend sticking to two to four colors on ur theme and avoiding stuffing it with a lot of bright things because it can distract from content. additionally, bloggers often make their descriptions short and succinct. (my fav mobiles: x x x.) on a pc, your blog theme can be customized completely on html, meaning there is a lot of freedom. u don’t have to learn to code for this, bc u can find free themes anywhere, just search ‘free tumblr themes’ on google. once again, be creative, but u shouldn’t overload. (my fav pcs: x x x.)

about pages: in order to avoid chunky descriptions but still let people know the key deets about themselves, bloggers create about pages. sometimes these bout pages are uncoded but u can also use html code if u want to. some common things in an about page are interests, maybe personality types/horoscopes/hogwarts houses, original content, and links to other social media. (examples: x x x)

urls: urls are a key part of your blog’s brand. ‘rebranding’ is what people say if they change their url! if u are tired or bored with your url, changing it is an opportunity to change your theme and other parts of ur blog as well. (url change ex: x).

saved urls: saved urls are basically when bloggers hoard sideblogs in order to reserve the urls used for them. if you ever encounter a blank blog that has ‘saved’ as its title, that’s probably it. sometimes people like to give away their urls, either as a constant thing (ex: x) or by doing a url giveaway (x). either way, it’s a good opportunity to change it up!

tags: in order to keep their blog cleancut and organized, a lot of bloggers have special tags for certain people, certain topics, and/or certain types of media. many people in the phandom particularly have tags for dan and phil that match (strawberries and cream, lune and sole, etc). if they have many of these tags, there can be a page for their tags on their blog. this page can be coded with special html or just a regular tumblr page, it doesn’t really matter. but it’s very useful for those who visit your blog, and makes it easy for u to navigate older posts as well! (examples: x x x)

3. learn to make og content!

producing original content helps you establish what your strengths are and why people should follow you. it also allows u to contribute to the fanbase, and gives u a chance of being noticed by dnp! and the validation is lovely. there are many options if u want to make something.

gifs: gifs are an ART here in the phandom, and its mechanisms still perplex me to this day bc ive never tried it. u probably already know what a gif is, but if not, its essentially a short animation made in photoshop that repeats. gifmakers are often distinguished by a unique coloring (example gifmakers: x x x), such as my friend emily’s smooth dark blue tint (x). it can be a long process to learn how to gif but it is very rewarding in the end, from what i’ve heard. (tutorials: x x)

art: there is a very wide range of phanartists, all with such talents, either digital or traditional, that you can draw inspirations from for your own work. you can make cartoons, comics, realism, abstract, nsfw even, or any mix (or none) of the former. artists on tumblr definitely deserve more attention than they get here on tumblr, so be sure to show appreciation towards them! (my fav artists: x x x)

edits: edits are the Graphic Designs of our community and are usually very aesthetically pleasing. they can be centered around a certain event, like a video or something dnp made, or just for fun. the more practice you get making them, the more dexterous u’ll become. they can be a great tool if u like the design aspect of art but don’t want to actually draw. (edit makers: x x)

icons: icons are just the little profile picture that u can insert for ur blog. it’s really easy and fun to make them, kind of like a lazy version of edits. you can make them using photoshop or an app like picsart or medibang, and it doesn’t take a lot of time. more on how to use icons in section 4. (examples: x x x) (my lil tutorial: x)

moodboards: moodboards are nine pictures arranged 3 by 3 that have a certain color scheme. it’s kind of like a collage except the photo feature here separates the pictures for u. there are a lot of innovative moodboard makers that stun me w how pretty it looks or how they arrange the pics. moodboards are also an easy and fun option! (moodboard tags: x x x)

textposts: this is by far the easiest and more common form of content u will find. it’s just writing about dnp in a textpost! if a textpost isn’t very serious, people also call it a meme or shitpost. shitposting is defs on the rise here so its a good business to get into. it’s also a great outlet for ur emotions or personal connections to what dnp do! (example talk tags: x x x)

fics: by far the most famous media to come out of here, phanfiction is a popular form of phan indulgence. u have probably heard of the most scarring ones (list: x), but there is actually a really vast range of it, not just creepy smut! some other genres are fluff, angst, and slow burns. u will discover that, despite the sterotype, not all fanfiction is bad. you can find lovely fics on @phanfictioncatalogue by genre, au, or topic. and, if u need help writing something, many writers would love to help. (a few well-known fics: x x x x x)

4. tumblr etiquette!

i know tumblr might seem like a simple social media (or perhaps not after u’ve read all the above?) but there’s a lot of things that u just....u just don’t do. it’s sort of like virtual manners, and if u don’t follow them, then it’s unlikely that people will like ur blog. once again, this is by no means me forcing u to run ur blog a certain way. it just happens that the types of ppl who break these rules are who we mock in gcs :////////. so yea, here’s some advice.

credits: if u decide to use someone’s art, edit, gif, or icon on the theme of ur blog, check what they require of u before u use it. most content creators strongly ask for credit in the description of ur blog, either by link or like ‘icon/header/art by ____’. it is just a common courtesy to the person who spent time on that, and if u think credit will ruin the aesthetic of ur blog, a) u probably don’t have an aesthetic in the first place and b) learn to appreciate art, binch.

anonymity: anon asks can be very powerful either negatively or positively depending on how u yield them, so make sure that u are careful with what u send. compliments are always welcome and criticism as well, but blatant rudeness or hate will do nothing. u will only make someone feel bad about themselves and it will not accomplish anything. also, u face the threat of all their friends turning u into a meme.

sensitivity: a lot of people here are way too easily offended by harmless jokes, a common example in the phandom being when we insult dnp affectionately and people take it way too much to heart. please don’t start drama over something w no real meaning. however, there are times when it is indeed necessary. if u want to criticise a blogger, be respectful of them simultaneously. by all means, if u spot someone being racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynist, or the like, feel free to call them out on it. but beforehand, make sure that u have done ur research and are educated on the topic, or u could turn out to be blatantly wrong.

adding to posts: everyone makes this mistake when they start out here and that’s totally okay, but adding to every post u reblog is incredibly bothersome. a rule of thumb would be don’t add anything unless what u say will actually improve the post significantly. if ur additions are along the lines of ‘LOL’ or ‘i relate!!!!’ or ‘philly is a smol bean XD’, learn to use the tags for heaven’s sake. they’re there for not only organization but also for commenting. some exceptions, though, would be if u are mentioned in the post or the op is your close friend.

respecting privacy: this should already be obvious to u, but respect dan and phil’s boundaries. do not tag them or their main tags (#daniel howell, #danisnotonfire, #amazingphil), in any phanfics, phanart (like specifically with them as a romantic ship), or phan edits. do not talk to their family members, expose their personal info like address or phone number, and do consider that they are real people just like u. we may make things based around phan, but it is kept in a community for us and not for dan and phil’s eyes. this is very important.

timmy darn communism: me being my usual weird self and replacing ‘tumblr dot com’ with random words that start with the same letters

mutuals: someone who you follow and who follows you; usually who u interact with most

rb: shortening for ‘reblog’

discourse: when theres is intense discussion of a certain topic, sometimes phan-related sometimes not, sometimes serious and sometimes silly

branding: the word ‘branding’ kinda started as a joke, but it’s generally what we use to call what someone’s blog reminds them of, whether it be a certain color or a discussion topic; my branding, if u asked a mutual, would probably be impressionism, tea, and baguettes (dont ask ab that one)

html: a simple type of coding used for designing websites! u can learn basic html here or here, it’s way easier and funner than it looks

dnp: dan and phil; we also say ‘deppy’, ‘dip and pip’, ‘the boys’, ‘the rats’, and more

coloring: basically the stylization of a gif, shown through filters, textures, contrast, brightness, etc.

talk tag: a tag in which all of the textposts that a person makes are sorted into

phanfiction terms

smut: porn fic :/

fluff: just what it sounds like, a type of fic that usually has a lot of soft stuff like cuddling, flirting, and looooove

angst: a fic with a lot of drama, usually sad or very emotional

slow burn: a fic where a pairing, in this case phan, slowly falls in love

au: stands for ‘alternate universe’, a fic in which dan and phil are written not as youtubers but in a completely different scenario (ie. bad boy and new guy in high school, university students, space exhibition, anything u can dream up really)

anon: short for ‘anonymous’

op: short for ‘original poster’, aka who made the post

It’s a bit complicated!! I mean technically I’m still in highschool, I’m getting some of the subjects I failed on my last year all done again so I can pass it and all be good! It’s a bit strange but I’ll go to University next year (if everything works out) WOop!!!! Thank you so much!! Also that’s amazing! You kinda are your teachers fave ARENT U??????? but no, not a teacher’s fave (tho actually, the finnish & literature, english and psychology teachers did love me in hs too so hhhhhh) we do everything in our productions ourselves! the school is just there to offer all the equipment we’ll need and is there for consultation and support if we need it with anything. (we’ve had our ‘’basic’’ education last year on everything so now how we learn is just by doing. this is a university of applied sciences after all. ofc we then have other kinds of courses on the field of film, the media branch etc.) i kinda wanna give a too-brief introduction into how stuff works in film school, so idk, i’ll maybe put this under a read more because it will still be annoyingly long? maybe someone’s interested? 😅

How our official short film productions work is, around March we have a small scale pitch event when our class gathers around with our main teachers (cinematography, screenwriting, sound design, editing etc. teachers). On that day, the students interested in screenwriting present and pitch their scripts (our shorts are in general around 3-15 min, most around 10 min) with their producer’s production plans and director’s directing plans to the class and the teachers. (The pre-production stage has already begun long before this point, now we only need the green light!)

Then after, depending on how many pitches there were, how complicated the filming would be, all kinds of things considered, we all vote for two or sometimes three films that we wanna make in the becoming months. Then in the end of the day the teachers greenlight them from the school’s end and grant us our budgets. (We can also clown around outside these more official shorts if we just have the time and passion, but they follow the same steps only without the bigger pitch event since those are scheduled.)

Then after we know which shorts are going into further production, we split into the departments we’re all most interested in. Those who aspire to be cinematographers will gather their camera assistants, the gaffers look for light assistants etc. etc. Who’s going to be the boom operator? Who will edit the final material? Who wants to be the assistant director ETC.ETC. ETC. There is so much ok, all of this is far too brief. And we form our crews. Naturally, we also work closely with students from all grades (and other art students around as well, anyone who’s interested!) and we all take part in all of each other’s productions around the year. We look for catering sponsors, other local businesses interested in collaborating with mostly costumes, set, props, hair and makeup, sfx… (For example, we’ve had a local lunch café offer us a discount lunch when we were filming around the corner and now for the other short going on we have a local vintage car shop’s(?) car we can use.)

There aren’t an awful lot of us that wanna specialize in any of the branches of the art department, but I know for a fact that’s what I wanna do in the future. Set decorator/production buyer/set dresser/property manager. We’re always wanted especially here in school since we’re not necessarily found in multitudes lol.

When we roughly have our crews for all the shorts we’re going to film, we just…. Start planning everything. Start working, start doing. For several months until the filming takes place. It’s meetings, a lot of planning by everyone hod (head of department), sponsorships, contracts, creating your vision, casting, fittings, storyboards, location scouting, shopping, collaboration and focusing intensely on your own thing. Everything that any real film production would have. Only on a smaller scale. We don’t joke around here!

And then it’s time for filming. A good few 11/12/13 hour days have been spent on set, but also fun lil mini unit days. 😅💕 And then it’s post-production where it’s time for the editors, sound mixers/editors, composers, foley artists ETC. to work their magic. And that’s how we make a baby!

I think the song & the video are two distinct & separate works of art and anyone trying to mash them together to impart some kind of meaning are way off base. The song was likely written loooong before the video was even conceptualized. That's how these things usually work. If you look at any other artists video's, or even Harry's previous ones, nothing to do with one another. Video's are created for an entirely different purpose than music. What does the Kiwi vid have to do with the song? Nada.

well yes, ofc that’s how things are with ANYTHING. you can even apply this notion to a book to film adaptation or even reading a play to watching a performance. any form of art based on the same thing is not necessarily the same to a T or even at all

All I Need CH 1

Set November after the girls go off to college. Ali is still in school, making up for her absence, and the girls are all coming home for their thanksgiving break from school. _______________________________________ The big white house looked almost uninhibited. Not a sound could be heard from outside, and not a soul seemed to pass by the Windows. The two DiLaurentis children, now adults, were bound to their rooms. Jason was staying at home for thanksgiving which was only three days away. Their father was away at work, or God knows wherever. The family seldom interacted anymore, aside from a few family dinners. It didn’t bother Jason, as much as it did the youngest DiLaurentis child, but this year she had vowed to become more independent. Alison was sprawled on her bed, French textbook open but being ignored as she sifted through Instagram posts and wasted time on the various apps on her iPhone.

School was let out early due to the holiday, and rather than worrying about the physics test she just likely failed, Alison’s mind was elsewhere.

What was really looming of her was that the girls would be returning home after their first college thanksgiving break. Alison already knew that Spencer was home. The girl had stopped over briefly to say hello, catching her as she pulled into her driveway and the two had made plans to grab coffee before the week ended. The blonde couldn’t help but feel some joy at how far the two neighbors had come. Spencer felt like a sister to her, and after the ‘A’ drama had died, they were closer than ever.

Aria had also gotten home earlier this week, and texted Alison asking her availability for the duration of her break. She had always a good friend to the blonde as well. They texted frequently, and called every other week or so.

Her and Hannah on the other hand didn’t talk much aside from the occasional Facebook comment or in the group chat with the others. Alison had often wondered if things would be different between them, had she not been so cruel to her in the beginning of their friendship. Sure it was all in the past, but it felt like there would always be a comfort zone between her and the other blonde that neither of them dared to step out of.

After scrolling through Instagram for what felt like the thousandth time, Alison found herself clicking back to the messenger app. In the search bar she typed in the name of the friend who had been on her mind since she and all of the others had left. She had been dancing around texting the fourth girl in their group all day, and was getting impatient in hoping the brunette would make the first move.

“She was always the hardest one to leave behind,” but that day in summer when they all said their goodbyes made Alison feel left behind herself. And it sucked. As the days rode their course, Alison found herself wishing that her best friend could’ve stayed in Rosewood with her. It was completely selfish, and she knew it, but was it so wrong to miss her, and want her close? California sounded amazing, but did she have to choose a place that was so far away?

The blonde had realized a long time ago that for some reason, when it came to Emily, all of her insecurities seemed to surface. She couldn’t help but feel pathetic about always being the one to text first, or make the call. It felt like a bit of a role reversal. She had never been the one to make the most effort in their relationship.

It wasn’t even that Emily didn’t respond to her, once Alison would send that first text they would talk for hours. Emily would apologize for being busy, and Alison would remind her that there was no reason for it. She knew that Emily had a lot to juggle. It was her freshman year of college, and she was still adjusting to an “A” free life. Emily didn’t need to prioritize talking to Alison, she had more important things to do.

But then there were her insecurities, making her feel like she was being abandoned, forgotten. There would be times where they would go days without talking, and Alison would wait for Emily to send at least a hi, but for the most part she never did. The blonde would spend those days looking back at their old messages, smiling at Emily’s unintentional goofiness but all the while feeling melancholy. 'Am I that easy to forget?’

She let out a sigh. If Emily wasn’t gonna text her when she was coming home, then Alison had to. As needy as it made her feel. It was only Tuesday morning, but Emily was supposed to be off from school yesterday.

Swallowing her pride she types out a message. “Hey :) when r u getting home ?” Her mood immediately turned from annoyed to happy when she immediately saw the grey bubble indicating that Emily is typing. “At the airport now!! Boarding soon- Will b home around 5 (ur time)” A smile spread across Alison’s face and her fingers immediately started typing a response before her brain could think up one. “yay!! Any chance u can come by tonight?” She sent. She swallowed when she realized that she sent it before she could look it over. Was it too desperate sounding?? She quickly added “if ur not too tired ofc” “My mom and I are gonna have dinner after she picks me up from the airport, but I don’t c y I can’t meet u after :)” Alison felt as if her whole body had lit up with joy. Emily always sent little smiley faces that brightened her day. Now she would be seeing her smile in person. Something she had missed terribly. “Cool ! Just let me know :)” she replied, adding “safe flight <3” Emily responded with a “thanks <33” and Alison felt her cheeks go hot. After 4 months she was finally going to see her favorite person, and it filled her heart with warmth. It wasn’t the same feeling with the other girls, and the soft spot she had for Emily was hard to explain. She didn’t even fully know herself what made the girl so special. Rather than thinking about it, Ali chose to ignore it, and get back to her homework. Thinking about feelings felt more like a waste of time than anything.

After it was confirmed that she would be seeing the brunette, it was as if time had completely slowed down. Finally it was around 8 o'clock and she had received a text from Emily telling her that she just showered and would be over shortly. Alison stood in front of the mirror, practically counting down the minutes until the brunette arrived. She would never say it out loud, but having the girls all home again gave her life some interest. It had been quite boring without them. Their dynamic, though dramatic at times never failed to keep her entertained. Even though she liked to think she had matured since her days of being a queen bee, the mentality was certainly still in her. The students of Rosewood high were easier subjects to rule. She was older than the people in her class, and her story of running away, returning, and even being in jail captivated her peers. They even seemed to interest the whole town. People loved listening to her stories, and she obviously loved the attention. But her old group was a challenge. They were in the “A” mess alongside her, and by the end of it all it was safe to say they had a a bit of a rocky history. They had certainly been a challenging group, but there was nothing Alison DiLaurentis loved more than a challenge.

She smiled at her reflection. Her blonde hair was pinned out of her face, and curled perfectly. She always liked to look her best in front of the girls, especially Emily. She blamed it on the past, where it was so ingrained in her that she had to be superior. To convey the image of perfection. However, with Emily, it was different. She had always looked at Alison like she was art, with a great deal admiration. She never wanted her to stop looking at her like that.

“Going somewhere” Jason said popping his head in her room, gulping on a Sprite. It was the first time the blonde had seen him all day. “No, why ?” She responded, applying some mascara. “Well it’s past your bedtime and you’re not in your pajamas” He teased walking into the room and taking another swig of his sugary drink. Alison rolled her eyes. “Very funny” “Are you gonna answer my question?” She sighed. “No, I’m not going out, but Emily’s coming over.” She watched Jason’s eyes widen through his reflection in the mirror. “Oh!” He exclaimed, a smirk forming on his face. “Getting dolled up for your love?” Alison shot him a glare. “Don’t be gross Jason. We’re friends.” She said defensively. She looked back to herself. Her cheeks had turned a a dark red hue. This wasn’t the first time her brother had teased her about the nature of her relationship with Emily. It was a touchy subject for her and he knew it.

Her mind shot back to the times things with Emily were, well, more then friendly. Their first kiss in the library, Alison had let her guard down and let the moment take hold of her. But that was all. Then the barn after Alison had saved her. It was because she missed her. It was a gesture of love, for her friend of course. Her eyes dragged to the bed behind there. Oh, there was also the one night they had shared after she had returned to rosewood.

They had never talked about it. As a matter of fact they had both seemed to act as if it had never happened. It was just like any one night stand, Ali would tell herself. Things were different then.

The memory still lingered in Alison’s mind though. It was a memory that stuck in her head, and she couldn’t get rid of it. And of course it was one that she tried countless times to rationalize. Her and Emily had a deep emotional connection, that ignited what had transpired that night. But she couldn’t quite figure out if it was a definite sexual attraction. She likes boys, she’s only ever been into boys that way. She thought. Emily was Emily, but she liked boys.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud knock at the door, that snapped her out of her thoughts. “She’s here!” She said, unable to hide her excitement. “And, that’s my cue!” Jason responded. As he began to exit Ali’s room, the blonde almost knocked him down as she ran past him.

Alison took a deep breath, regaining her nonchalant stature. She opened the door with a confident but happy smile plastered on her face. But when her eyes met the person behind the door her jaw nearly dropped. It was Emily, but seeing her now make Alison realize just how longs it’s been since they’ve been face to face. Surely it wasn’t the longest period they’ve spent apart, but for some reason seeing her this close made her realize just how much she’d missed her. As if she hadn’t been aware of it before.

Emily had changed a little, her hair was dark again, her natural color. It reminded Ali of when they first met. The girl had appeared to have lost a little weight too. She wore a grey long sleeve shirt, and black skinny jeans.

Alison felt as if she forgot how to breathe. The brunette in front of her was practically glowing. Emily had always been pretty, extremely pretty. But the Emily in front of her was gorgeous, and hot, and standing so confidently. It was Emily like Alison had never seen her before.

“Alison, hi!!” Emily finally said with joy radiating off of her voice. Alison blinked twice, still in awe of the other girl.

'Wait, what the hell am I doing ?’ She thought, angry with herself for standing in front of her best friend dumbly.

With a quick shake of her head she smiled widely. “Em! H-how are you?” She said. She wanted to slam her head on the door as she heard the words leave her mouth. 'Did I just stutter?’

Emily laughed, not appearing to have noticed Ali’s small slip up. “I’m great! I-wow!” Taking The blonde by surprise, Emily stepped forward and pulled her into a warm embrace. “It’s so great to see you!”

Alison felt her skin burn against Emily’s touch. She hugged the brunette back lightly, as if she would disappear at the slightest touch. “It’s great to see you too!” Emily pulled away to look at Alison’s face with the same warmth in her eyes.

“You look great, as always.” She said caressing Alison’s shoulders.

“I look great?? You look, amazing!” Emily blushed slightly, making her look impossibly more beautiful and Alison, who would usually never be so eager to compliment someone couldn’t tear her eyes away. The two of them stood there for a few seconds just looking at each other.

Alison’s mind was unable to focus on anything but Emily, and she began to panic at her lack of control. She tore her eyes away from Emily’s brown ones and cleared her throat in attempts to regain composure. “Well, um, do you want to come in?” She said somewhat shyly. Emily nodded.

“I would love to!” She chuckled. Alison moved to the side, letting the girl walk past her and shutting the door behind her. She took a breath and followed her inside, smiling as she watched Emily saunter into her house as if she was right at home.

To Alison, having Emily back home made her feel more at home then she had felt in months. The quiet house suddenly felt alive the minute Emily stepped inside. God she didn’t know how to describe what she was feeling, she just knew she was happy to see her friend again.

“I missed the smell of your house” Emily sighed. She twirled to face the blonde, inhaling goofily and causing Alison to let out a chuckle. The brunette stretched her arms upwards. “Man I’m spent.”

Alison couldn’t help but let her eyes roam Emily’s toned body as she stretched her arms above her head, exposing her tan abs. Then her eyes darted to some black ink on the girls hip. The blonde’s eyes widened in confusion and shock. In cursive the name “Andrea” was ingrained in Emily’s skin. In permanent ink.

The girl, not noticing the distraught look on Alison’s face, turned back around and she began to walk in the direction of the DiLaurentis’ kitchen. “Can I grab a glass of water? I still feel kinda dehydrated from that flight.”

“Yea Em.” Ali answered, just above a mumble. If her thoughts weren’t already running amuck through her head, they certainly were now. Without saying another word, she followed her best friend into the kitchen.
